HYPOCRISY’s PETER TÄGTGREN On Worship – “I Definitely Feel It’s Closer To Maybe The End Of The ‘90s Albums”
Tägtgren said about Worship: I would say my whole idea of this album or writing this, is mainly just to write better Hypocrisy songs and a fatter production, that is the goal. And I think it has all the elements you need in there theres a lot of sad songs, a lot of slow songs, a lot of mid-tempo songs, a lot of epic songs, you know like you float away on it. So, I hope people will be happy with it. To be honest, I really never know what Hypocrisy fans want from Hypocrisy [laughs]. Cause I mean in the past, theres been so many different kinda styles of albums, but you still have this feeling of Hypocrisy in it. So I guess its in my DNA when I write music, I think in a certain way and yeah, it becomes Hypocrisy no matter what. But I definitely feel its closer to maybe the end of the '90s albums, you know in the way of the style of songs so to speak, I would say. But still, its Hypocrisy today. Its nothing I wanted to clone myself or anything with the songs, its just what comes up in my mind.
Mikael and Horgh, they contribute with a couple of riffs each as well. So I mean its important to write with your heart I think and not look around and see whats popular and what is not. You know its this is Hypocrisy and this is how it always will sound, so take it or leave it.
In less than a month, the newest addition to the Hypocrisy catalog, Worship, will be released via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band releases the animated music video for the third single, "Children Of The Gray".
Peter Tägtgren comments, "Costin Chioreanu did an amazing job with his drawings. He illustrated my words perfectly. If we dont take care of this planet, we will lose it to the 'Children Of The Gray'. The music couldnt be more Hypocrisy epic feeling to it. Enjoy."
It has been eight long years since the last record, and Hypocrisy fans can feel the itch. Worship is 11 tracks of precise, ferocious musicianship. Commonly inspired by the fusion of the modern and the ancient, Hypocrisy has once more found a way to combine innovative ideas with classic sound in order to deliver something metalheads can enjoyably consume with awe and brutal vigor. As usual, all recording and mixing took place at Tägtgrens Abyss Studio AB in Sweden while mastering was completed by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers Audio Mastering. Designed by artist Blake Armstrong (Kataklysm, In Flames, Carnifex), Worships artwork speaks to the history of the relationship between humanity and extraterrestrials.
Worship will be released on November 26 via Nuclear Blast Records. Worship will be available in the following formats:
