JEFF SCOTT SOTO On Working With YNGWIE MALMSTEEN - "We Were Helpless Sidemen With No Chance For Growing Or Making Something Of Ourselves While We Were With Him"
Vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO (TALISMAN, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) is featured in a new interview with Greece-based Rock Overdose. An excerpt from the discussion is available below:
RockOverdose.gr: You first came into prominence during your stint with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. It surely has been quite some time since then, but what are your memories from back then?
Jeff Scott Soto: "It was a great time but also one that has a lot of discolored memories as well. I learned more than I expected so soon after joining him, and I mean that in a negative way! The business is ugly already, so the people you surround yourself with should be ones who have your back and that you can trust…not any fault to Yngwie, but he was pretty much in it for himself we as his backup band were helpless sidemen with no chance for growing or making something of ourselves while we were with him. Clearly you can see why I left so soon after starting with him, even at 19 years old, I knew I had so much more to offer as an artist."

Soto will be touring with the most recent band lineup, comprising Jorge Salán (guitar), Fernando Mainer (bass), ‘BJ’ (guitar/keys and vocals) and Edu Cominato (drums/vocals) and will be showcasing his current solo album, Damage Control, as well as tracks from across his solo and front-man roles right across his outstanding career.

Что-то послужной список в скобочках как-то скромно прописан....А как же Axel Rudi Pell, а как же Takara? Вообще всё правильно изложил....С Ингви у него будущего не было бы. У Мальмстина хорошие известные вокалисты не задерживаются надолго, впрочем как и другие музыканты. ....А по поводу Сото, то самый яркий период я бы отметил работу в Axel Rudi Pell (вообще, лучшие альбомы у ARP именно с Сото), ну и далее уже Talisman.
По мне так лучшие работы Axel Rudi Pell с Johnny Gioeli.
Он один из лучших вокалистов в современном хард роке. Очень глубокий, чувственный и яркий голос. Он и в Hardline также великолепно поёт! Сото признанный вокалист, но мне его манера пения никогда не нравилась, я очень рад, что он в своё время не стал вокалистом Journey!

С ним у Пелла все альбомы как под копирку. Oceans of Time шикарный, а остальное - блекло.
