GENE SIMMONS Says He Is 'Really Fine' After Testing Positive For COVID-19, Urges Everyone To Get Vaccinated

GENE SIMMONS Says He Is 'Really Fine' After Testing Positive For COVID-19, Urges Everyone To Get Vaccinated

Gene Simmons says that he is "really fine," two days after it was announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The KISS bassist/vocalist credited his vaccination for keeping his infection "minimal" and encouraged others to consider getting the COVID-19 shot.

"Thanks to the vaccine, I'm really fine," Gene tweeted. He also responded to a person who seemingly mocked him for catching COVID even though he was inoculated. "Vaccine protects you about 95%. However, you can still get Delta Covid variant," Simmons wrote. "I did…But the effects are minimal, if you've been vaccinated twice. Without vaccine = hospital, pain and maybe death. Do your research. You'll come off much brighter."

KISS announced on Tuesday that its next four tour dates would be pushed back after Simmons tested positive for the virus and was experiencing "mild" symptoms. Just days earlier, Simmons's bandmate Paul Stanley also tested positive for COVID-19.

"While Paul Stanley recently tweeted that he has recovered from COVID, Gene Simmons has now tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms," the band said in a statement. "The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA."

The postponed shows were set to take place on September 1 in Clarkston, Michigan; September 2 in Dayton, Ohio; September 4 in Tinley Park, Illinois; and September 5 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The legendary rockers were previously forced to reschedule their August 26 show in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, August 28 concert in Raleigh, North Carolina and August 29 gig in Atlanta, Georgia after Stanley tested positive.

Stanley reassured fans that he was "fine" and had not been hospitalized, but said he was suffering "flu-like symptoms" before finally testing positive.

On Monday, he wrote on Twitter: "My COVID symptoms were MILD compared to many others and let me tell you… It kicked my ass. It's over now."

When Stanley first tested positive last Thursday, KISS said the whole band and the crew members who are traveling with them on the tour are fully vaccinated.

Members of KISS "and their crew have operated in a bubble independently to safeguard everyone as much as possible at each show and in between shows," the band wrote in the statement.

"The tour also has a COVID safety protocol officer on staff full-time that is ensuring everyone is closely following all CDC guidelines," the statement continued.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Simmons urged fans to get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying: "I would highly recommend for everybody to get two Pfizer or Moderna shots, please — for the rest of us. Even if you believe the Earth is flat, it's not."

KISS kicked off the summer 2021 leg of its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on August 18 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The concert marked the band's first full-length live appearance in front of an audience since March 2020.

KISS's farewell trek was launched in January 2019 and was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022.

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Peter Criss (drums) and Ace Frehley (guitar), KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

Joe, vaccine protects you about 95%. However, you can still get Delta Covid variant. I did…But the effects are minimal, if you’ve been vaccinated twice. Without vaccine = hospital, pain and maybe death. Do your research. You’ll come off much brighter. https://t.co/svilLhfkoc

Finland's FEAROUT To Release Debut Album In November; "The End Of The Beginning" Video Streaming

Finland's FEAROUT To Release Debut Album In November; "The End Of The Beginning" Video Streaming

Helsinki-based metal band Fearout is set to release their debut album, Bleedthrough, on November 5th, 2021 via Inverse Records. The band have released their first single, "The End Of The Beginning" along with a music video. Check it out below.

Guitarist Arg Kinnunen: "The main riff was composed some 20 years ago, and we tried it with another band but we never got it working. Ten years later it was offered to another band and it didn't work either. Finally, when I offered this to Justus we got things rolling. So, aging this song some 20 years in oak cask wasn't that bad idea after all."

Vocalist Justus Latvala: "'The End Of The Beginning' was one of the first Fearout songs that we ever played together. Arg set the standard high right from the get-go. It contains a bit twisted main riff, some stoner grind and pretty melodies. Just what the doctor ordered."

The song has stolen its title from Churchill, and its theme is basically about the rise and fall and how to cope with it. Or not. Many people wish to be famous or some sort of stars and are absolutely willing to do anything to achieve their goal. After that 15 minutes of fame is gone the only way is down and you still should be able to live with the things you did when you tried to get to the top.

Fearout are a four-piece Finnish hard rock / metal / punk / stoner band from Helsinki. The band was founded in 2014 by Arg Kinnunen (guitar) and Justus Latvala (vocals). Current line-up was stabilized when Topi Lajunen (drums) joined band in 2016 and Minttu Minkkinen (bass) in 2018. Fearout fuses filthy stoner guitars and noisy punk rock aggression with seductive melodies and provide energetic, volatile and sometimes literally bone crushing live performances. The band recorded their debut album Bleedthrough 2020-2021 and the album will be released in autumn 2021 by Inverse Records.

VAN HALEN: 'The Eruption And The Aftershock' Book Due In October

VAN HALEN: 'The Eruption And The Aftershock' Book Due In October

Backbeat Books has announced the October 1, 2021 release of "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock" by Michael Christopher. The book is available now for pre-order in multiple formats.

This is the epic story of how one of America's greatest bands weathered arguably the most dramatic soap opera in rock and roll history with songs that would weave themselves into the fabric of every musician who heard them, alongside an incendiary and unrivaled live show that wowed audiences worldwide.

Featuring exclusive interviews with insiders, fans and artists who were there to witness the rise, the tumult and the making of legends, it's a story that has to be read to be believed. The book includes input from members of BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS, VELVET REVOLVER, PANTERA, RATT, STRYPER and many, many more, alongside never-before-seen photos and previously unpublished interviews with VAN HALEN alums Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Gary Cherone.

Come the late '70s, the rock music landscape was littered with the bloated carcasses of bands who partied too hard, burned out or became complacent in success. The door was open for something fresh, wild and enrapturing.

Enter VAN HALEN.

Made up of two Dutch-born brothers, one on drums and the other whose guitar was an extension of his very being, a bass player with a golden throat, and a frontman who made up for his lack of traditional singing ability with attitude and gravity-defying acrobatics onstage, they were unlike anything ever seen before.

Alex and Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth put a cap on one decade and exploded into the next with a brand of music not quite punk, not quite metal, and not at all subtle.

They went from headlining backyard keggers to top billing at the US Festival in front of three hundred thousand people within five years. Then, right when it looked like there wasn't an obstacle created to slow the mighty VAN HALEN ascent, the group imploded from the inside out, only to rebound stronger than ever with ex-MONTROSE howler Sammy Hagar leading them to four consecutive Number One albums.

"This book has been a passion project from the beginning, and you'll be hard pressed to find another writer who has covered VAN HALEN so comprehensively over the years and with such reverence,” says Christopher. "But after the passing of Eddie Van Halen, the news cycle eventually moved on. As it says in the introduction, I wasn't ready to, and felt like there was still much to say, not just from myself, but the fans, musicians, and so, so many more who have been affected by VAN HALEN."

Exhaustively researched, "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock" examines:

* The arrest of David Lee Roth on the "Van Halen II" tour

* Oakland 1981 and what footage actually exists from the fabled shows

* How close Roth cut making it to the US Festival after falling ill in the Amazon jungle

* What role VAN HALEN played in the 1985 PMRC hearings

* The strangely ignored first public appearance of "VAN HAGAR"

* Why the 2007 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction fell apart

Early Praise for "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock"

Stephen Pearcy (RATT): "Amazing book. Only a few people will get VAN HALEN's insides."

Philip H. Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN): "It's an explosive legacy. It's cemented. They kicked every ass that was in front of them."

Heidi Ellen Robinson-Fitzgerald (HERFitz PR): "I was part of VAN HALEN's PR team at Warner Bros. in the late '70s. I cried and I laughed out loud more than a few times while reading this book, recognizing occurrences I hadn't thought about in decades. The VAN HALEN I knew is on these pages, and Michael has painted a brilliant portrait of them."

Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH): "There's only one VAN HALEN, and they were really, really good."

William DuVall (ALICE IN CHAINS): "It was just such a steamroller, and those guys were doing that night after night no matter what condition they were in."

Christopher is a journalist and music historian. He is the author of "Depeche Mode FAQ: All That's Left to Know About the World's Finest Synth-Pop Band". A senior writer for the online music magazine Vanyaland, where he was a founding member and later managing editor, he contributes frequently to Ultimate Classic Rock, Loudwire and appears regularly on television, radio, and podcasts as an expert on a variety of music-related topics. He also has a syndicated music and lifestyle column for a series of newspapers in the Philadelphia metro region and beyond under the MediaNews Group banner. His work has appeared in the Boston Phoenix, Boston Magazine, LA Weekly, PopMatters, Rockpile, Ronda, Screen Rant and Diffuser. Michael lives in Boston, building a respectable vinyl collection.

HOUSTON Streaming New Single "Storyteller"

HOUSTON Streaming New Single "Storyteller"

Swedish AOR band, Houston, recently announced that their new studio album, IV, will be released on October 8. IV was produced under the direction of former member and AOR guru Ricky Delin, who also co-wrote with the band.

Listen to the new single "Storyteller" below, and pre-order/save IV here.

“It felt good to have Ricky back behind the wheel on this album. He is an incredible songwriter and we all know the great work he’s done on our previous albums. This is the Houston album above all others,” says singer Hank Erix. “We’re truly excited about the new music on Houston IV. We knew right from the start that we wanted to go back to our roots and make a classic AOR sounding album again. After all, this was the sound that put us on the map in the first place and what we do best. Sonically, this album is the more refined sibling to our first two albums. We’ve had a decade to grow as songwriters, musicians, and most importantly as a band and I think this really shows,” adds Carl Hammar, the band’s guitarist.

"This album and the songs are one big homage to our favourite AOR heroes such as Survivor, Foreigner and Journey, but also influences from John O´Banion, Meatloaf, John Farnham, and many more. We wanted to make a great AOR album and make it big, fresh, and truly bombastic. And if you want to make a bombastic AOR album, Ricky Delin is the go to producer. Ricky, who played a big part in creating the Houston sound on our first albums, was as excited as us about the idea of working together again and jumped at the opportunity,” continues Carl.

MINISTRY's Al Jourgensen Discusses "Search And Destroy" Track In New Album Video Trailer

MINISTRY's Al Jourgensen Discusses "Search And Destroy" Track In New Album Video Trailer

Ministry have released a new video for trailer for their upcoming album, Moral Hygiene, due to be released October 1 via Nuclear Blast Records. In the clip, Al Jourgensen discusses the inspiration behind the track "Search And Destroy", and his experience working on set for the music video with guitarist Billy Morrison and direction Dean Karr.

After incubating for the larger part of 2020 - at time when creative mastermind Al Jourgensen was able to ruminate on the new world we as a society have found ourselves in - the time has finally come for Ministry to unleash their 15th studio album.

window._taboola = window._taboola || [];
_taboola.push({
mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',
container: 'taboola-mid-article-thumbnails',
placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails',
target_type: 'mix'
});

Aptly titled Moral Hygiene, the album will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on October 1. With some of Ministry’s strongest and most inspired material to date, the 10 tracks are a follow-up to 2018’s lauded AmeriKKKant and put forth Jourgensen’s societal manifesto and plea for civilization to get back to a set of standards that lives up to and embraces our humanity.

"The good thing about literally taking a year off from any social activity or touring is that you really get to sit back and get an overview of things as they are happening, as opposed to being caught up in the moment. And what I saw with how we handled several public crises - from the pandemic to racial injustice to who we vote in to lead our country - is that times are changing, and society needed to change to get away from the idea that has permeated us of take care of yourself, fuck everything else. Now more than ever we need moral hygiene,” says Jourgensen of the new album. “It consumed me as I wrote this album. It’s not some pious term. It’s what we have to return to in order to function as the human species on this planet. And I'm proud to have had such great guests on this album to help cement that message like Billy Morrison, Jello Biafra and Arabian Prince.”

In conjunction with today’s album announcement, the latest track “Good Trouble” is also released. The song, inspired by the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and the activist work of the late Congressman John Lewis, is accompanied by a new video that includes sampling from last year’s demonstrations in Los Angeles as captured by Jourgensen and his partner Liz Walton. Watch a lyric video below.

Jourgensen adds about the new single, "I was watching the coverage last July around Lewis’ death and was in awe the next day when this entire letter from him was published in the New York Times. How suss was that to want to keep making progress after his death by thinking about the legacy he left? I was struck by the reflectiveness of his speech, knowing he was dying and making sure it was released because he saw trouble ahead. That is the moral hygiene of this album - we have to do something to change and I really hope we continue to act and live up to the idea of getting into good trouble for the benefit of society."

Moral Hygiene also includes the previously released “Alert Level” that sounded the alarms about our collective dissonance towards the pandemic, climate change and the man formerly in the White House, bolstered by the song’s overarching question posed to listeners: “How concerned are you?”

The new album also adds perspective to the countless lives that were tragically lost to the COVID-19 pandemic on the haunting track “Death Toll” while “Disinformation” decries the too frequent willingness to accept everything - even mistruths - as fact.

Other musical jewels on the upcoming release include a collaboration with Jello Biafra (Jourgensen’s cohort in side project LARD) on “Sabotage Is Sex” and a unique take on The Stooges’ “Search And Destroy” that features guitar virtuoso Billy Morrison (Billy Idol/Royal Machines). Morrison is also heavily featured on a number of songs on the album.

Moral Hygiene was recorded with engineer Michael Rozon (also behind the boards on AmeriKKKant) at Scheisse Dog Studio, Jourgensen’s self-built home studio and creative lab. As with all Ministry albums, all songs are written and performed by Al Jourgensen. Additional contributions come from Billy Morrison (Billy Idol, Royal Machines), Cesar Soto (Man The Mute), John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Fear Factory), Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour, Soulfly, Nausea), Paul D’Amour (Tool, Feersum Ennjin), Arabian Prince (N.W.A.), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) and sitar player Flash.

Moral Hygiene will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download formats. Pre-orders are available at the follow links:

Ministry will be debuting the new songs live - as well as celebrating the 30th anniversary of seminal album The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste - on the upcoming Industrial Strength Tour, kicking off on October 3 for 23 dates across the country. The trek will include special guests Helmet and Front Line Assembly.

In addition to Al Jourgensen (vocals, guitar), the touring band will include Roy Mayorga (drums), Paul D’Amour (bass), Cesar Soto (guitars), Monte Pittman (guitars) and John Bechdel (keyboards).

HALESTORM Performs New Single 'Back From The Dead' Live For First Time (Video)

HALESTORM Performs New Single 'Back From The Dead' Live For First Time (Video)

HALESTORM played its new single, "Back From The Dead", live for the first time this past Tuesday (August 31) at the 2021 Great New York State Fair as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival in Syracuse. New York. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

HALESTORM is playing a series of headline dates and a set at Rocklahoma prior to a co-headline run with EVANESCENCE beginning November 5 in Portland, Oregon, running through December 18 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

"Back From The Dead" is taken from HALESTORM's upcoming fifth full-length album, due in 2022. The video for "Back From The Dead", directed by Dustin Haney (Noah Cyrus, Luke Combs) and produced by Revolution Pictures, the features frontwoman Lzzy Hale and the rest of the band in a morgue and cemetery somewhere between life and death.

"This song is personal and written from a mental health perspective," Hale said in a statement. "I wanted to give myself and the world a hard rock song we could shout out loud as the gates opened again. I was on the edge of this world getting completely lost in oblivion, but even though it was the harder of two choices, I didn't just let the darkness and depression in my mind dig me an early grave. I didn't just sit and let it take me…. I hope this song, as I pass it on to you, reminds YOU of your strength individually and that you are not alone."

HALESTORM's new music is once again being produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who first helmed the band's 2017 effort "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP" and was previously described by Hale as the group's "fifth member."

HALESTORM's latest EP release was last year's "Halestorm Reimagined", a collection of the band's reworked original songs as well as a cover of "I Will Always Love You", the love ballad made famous by Whitney Houston and Dolly Parton.

Lzzy and her brother Arejay formed the band in 1998 while in middle school. Hottinger joined the group in 2003, followed by bassist Josh Smith in 2004.

In December 2018, HALESTORM was nominated for a "Best Rock Performance" Grammy Award for its song "Uncomfortable". Six years earlier, the band won its first Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance" for "Love Bites (So Do I)".

DAVE MUSTAINE Teaches You How To Play Main Riff In MEGADETH's 'Tornado Of Souls' (Video)

DAVE MUSTAINE Teaches You How To Play Main Riff In MEGADETH's 'Tornado Of Souls' (Video)

A short video of MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine teaching you how to play the main riff in the band's song "Tornado Of Souls" can be seen below. The clip was filmed backstage in Reno, Nevada on August 31 during MEGADETH's "The Metal Tour Of The Year" with LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED and TRIVIUM.

MEGADETH played its first show with bassist James LoMenzo in nearly 12 years on August 20 in Austin, Texas at the opening concert of "The Metal Tour Of The Year". Produced by Live Nation, the rescheduled trek will wrap in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on Saturday, October 2.

LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame". He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson.

In addition to MEGADETH, LoMenzo has played with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and WHITE LION. For the past eight years, LoMenzo has been performing with iconic rocker John Fogerty.

Mustaine has yet to reveal who played bass on the band's new album after Ellefson's tracks were removed from the LP following his dismissal from the group in late May.

Ellefson laid down his bass tracks on MEGADETH's sixteenth LP in May 2020 at a studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

In July, Mustaine announced during an episode of his Gimme Radio program "The Dave Mustaine Show" that Ellefson's bass tracks would not be used on the new MEGADETH LP.

In early May, on the same day that sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving Ellefson were posted on Twitter, he released a statement on Instagram denying all social media chatter that he "groomed" an underage fan.

On May 24, Mustaine — who formed MEGADETH with Ellefson in 1983 — announced the bassist's departure from the band.

Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest exit.

LIVING WRECKAGE Feat. ANTHRAX And SHADOWS FALL Members: 'One Foot In The Grave' Music Video Available

LIVING WRECKAGE Feat. ANTHRAX And SHADOWS FALL Members: 'One Foot In The Grave' Music Video Available

LIVING WRECKAGE — the new modern metal band comprised of vocalist Jeff Gard (DEATH RAY VISION), guitarists Jon Donais (ANTHRAX, SHADOWS FALL) and Matt LeBreton (DOWNPOUR), bassist Matt Bachand (SHADOWS FALL, ACT OF DEFIANCE) and drummer Jon Morency (LET US PREY) — has unleashed a music video for the title track from its debut EP, "One Foot In The Grave".

Says Bachand: "'One Foot In The Grave' is a song that would be the anthem for anyone who embraces the ups and downs that life throws at you, no matter how difficult. We felt a simple performance video that encompasses the raw energy of the track was the best way to get that point across."

The "One Foot In The Grave" EP contains three tracks that show off the collective's blasts of melodic, over-driven power, and is available now as a limited-edition CD while both singles are on digital platforms. The band's first single, "Breaking Point" — described by Revolver as "a throwback rager that sees Donais and LeBreton shredding their hearts out while Gard showcases his John Bush-esque pipes" — was revealed earlier this year.

The power of LIVING WRECKAGE will be further unleashed at upcoming live performances in the fall throughout New England. In addition to a headlining appearance on October 2 in Easthampton, Massachusetts, the band will also play as direct support for BUCKCHERRY on November 2 in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The as-yet-untitled debut album from LIVING WRECKAGE — produced and engineered by Shane Frisby (UNEARTH, BURY YOUR DEAD), and mixed by Pete Rutcho (REVOCATION, FALLING IN REVERSE) — will be released early next year. More information on the album and additional live performances by the band will be unveiled in the weeks to come.

LOCAL H To Release Covers Album, 'LOCAL H's Awesome Quarantine Mix-Tape #3'

LOCAL H To Release Covers Album, 'LOCAL H's Awesome Quarantine Mix-Tape #3'

Cult 1990s rockers LOCAL H have announced a brand new covers LP, "Local H's Awesome Quarantine Mix-Tape #3", and have shared two singles from the release, "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)", originally by LOOKING GLASS and "Hackensack" originally by FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE. The album will be released on CD/LP/4x7" boxset/CS/digital on October 8 via Brutal Panda Records.

LOCAL H remain as prolific and hungry as ever three decades into their perennially loud career. Shortly after the release of their critically acclaimed, Steve Albini-produced album "Lifers" in 2020, the world changed forever with the onset of the global pandemic. After facing tour cancelations around the world, LOCAL H became one of the first bands to embrace the drive-in concert experience. While locked under quarantine, frontman Scott Lucas began doing live streams from his living room (or bathroom… or bedroom…) on a near-daily basis. Everyone from Prince to BLONDIE to FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE to Mark Lanegan.

The band decided to pick the best of those "sessions" and record them for the third entry in their series of cover albums, aptly titled "Local H's Awesome Quarantine Mix-Tape #3". Recorded at Million Yen studios in Chicago by their longtime collaborator Andy Gerber, the release is a testament to the solace that music can provide during the most difficult of times.

LOCAL H is currently embarking on a 2021 tour supporting SOUL ASYLUM. They have also announced headlining dates with RADKEY as support for the fall for "The Lifers Retour". On October 22, LOCAL H will be performing at Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta.

Unlike so many of their peers from the 1990s, LOCAL H has refused to slow down. Since the band's formation in 1990, they have released eight studio albums, countless EPs and live records, a well-received series of "Mix Tapes" featuring a surprising mix of cover songs, and a steady stream of memorable singles that include "Eddie Vedder", "Hands On The Bible", "California Songs" and the rock radio staple "Bound For The Floor". In addition to all of that, guitarist/vocalist Scott Lucas and drummer Ryan Harding have maintained a near constant international touring schedule — forging a blistering live show that has amassed a loyal and enthusiastic fan base

ZEAL & ARDOR Announces Self-Titled Album, Shares New Single 'Bow'

ZEAL & ARDOR Announces Self-Titled Album, Shares New Single 'Bow'

Swiss firebrand alchemists ZEAL & ARDOR have announced their self-titled new album, set for release February 11, 2022, via MVKA. The LP's latest single, "Bow", can be streamed below.

Hissing and seeping justifiable rage from every pore — yet not an unrelenting musical battering — the 14-track opus was recorded by Marc Obrist and Manuel Gagneux at Hutch Sounds and mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio. All songs were written and performed (except drums) by the softly spoken, multi-lingual frontman Gagneux, with some German lyrics intermixed with English.

Gagneux declares: "With the self-titled record, we have arrived at where I imagined this project should sound like. It's the longest we've worked on a single record and I believe it shows. The most important thing for an album of ours to do, is transport you instantly into our mood, our world. Even though this might not be the one you might expect from us, this record certainly delivers on that front. We had time to hone in to what we think makes us interesting and what sounds we would like to explore. Through this we have found our home. Home is burning. Welcome home."

Regarding "Bow", he says: "'Bow' takes out established musical themes and places them into a completely different background. It's an amalgam of things bestowing bad luck demanding you to join it."

Earlier this summer, the avant-garde extremists shared the unsettling, sinister single/video "Run" and attention-demanding song "Erase". Both tracks are also included on the new album, and will be instant grats, along with "Bow" and further pre-release singles, when fans pre-order.

"Zeal & Ardor" track listing:

01. Zeal & Ardor

02. Run

03. Death To The Holy

04. Emersion

05. Golden Liar

06. Erase

07. Bow

08. Feed The Machine

09. I Caught You

10. Church Burns

11. Götterdämmerung

12. Hold Your Head Low

13. J-M-B

14. A-H-I-L

ZEAL & ARDOR's widely praised second album, "Stranger Fruit", was released by MVKA in 2018, following the global attention-getting, multi-million streamed debut "Devil Is Fine". Critically acclaimed across the industry, The Guardian newspaper described "Stranger Fruit" as "extraordinary and brilliant" upon release. Upset wrote it was "a compelling listen," Metal Hammer applauded its "sheer musical brilliance," with Rock Sound concluding it was "one of the most uniquely daring and wholly affecting albums of 2018 so far," plus further plaudits rolling in from SiriusXM, Rolling Stone, Kerrang!, Noisey, Alternative Press, Revolver, Pitchfork, and more. By Christmas 2018, the U.K.'s largest free newspaper Metro declared "Stranger Fruit" their #2 Album of the Year in a cross-genre list, declaring "in this jaw-dropping meld of black American folk music and black metal, the Swiss artist Manuel Gagneux has hit upon something genuinely original." In March 2019, following a blistering set in London the previous December, the band went on to release the double live album "Live In London". Then, in October 2020, amidst a provocative and stimulating 18-month profound period of reflection — that led to the writing of the forthcoming self-titled album — the band quietly shared the striking, standalone six-track EP "Wake Of A Nation".

THOMAS ZWIJSEN Performs Acoustic Rendition Of IRON MAIDEN's "The Trooper"; Video

Thomas Zwijsen has released the new video below, featuring an acoustic cover of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper". Thomas released his acoustic cover of "The Trooper" 10 years ago and later performed a viral version with Nita Strauss.

Says Thomas: "Awaiting the new Iron Maiden album Senjutsu, I revised my original version of 'The Trooper.' This arrangement is without capo, giving many more tone options and including both Dave Murray and Adrian Smith guitar solos."

Zwijsen previously released another clip, featuring an acoustic performance of "Stratego". Thomas played the entire song on one solo guitar, including solos, vocals and bass, in less than 24 hours after the song's release.

Zwijsen also released acoustic performance of Iron Maiden's single, "The Writing On The Wall". Again, Thomas attempted to play the entire song on one solo guitar, including acoustic intro, solos, vocal melodies and bass, in less than 24 hours after the release.

DIRTY HONEY Release Official Music Video For New Single "The Wire"

DIRTY HONEY Release Official Music Video For New Single "The Wire"

Directed and edited by the award-winning Scott Fleishman/APLUSFILMZ, Dirty Honey's brand new music video, "The Wire", was shot at various locations on the band's current US tour with The Black Crowes, and provides the viewer a laminated, All Access pass to life on the road with what one journalist called "a band at the top of the new breed of rock and rollers."

On the tour bus... arriving at the next gig... a little sightseeing on a day off... dinner and a cigar at La Scarola... soundcheck... signing copies of their debut album for that night's merchandise booth... an after-show celebratory night-cap at a local saloon... from the dressing room to the stage... this is Dirty Honey's, "The Wire":

The Dirty Honey album features eight new songs that capture the lightning-in-a-bottle dynamics and energy of the band's live sound. "California Dreamin'," with its massive riffs and smoking guitar solos, "Tied Up," a sultry and soulful rocker, "Gypsy," that showcases plenty of swagger and gritty guitar work, "The Wire," leaving no doubt that Marc LaBelle is one of contemporary rock's best vocalists, and "Another Last Time," a mid-tempo, organ-fueled album closer with its bittersweet lyrics and bursting with soul, are just a few of the nuggets on this album.

DEMISER Signs Worldwide Deal WIth Blacklight Media Records / Metal Blade Records

DEMISER Signs Worldwide Deal WIth Blacklight Media Records / Metal Blade Records

Blacklight Media Records / Metal Blade Records welcome Demiser to its worldwide roster.

Formed in 2018 out of the primordial ooze of the South Carolina metal scene, Demiser are veritable heavy metal heroes. With influences drawing from first wave black metal and 80s thrash alongside a healthy dose of NWOBHM, Demiser have quickly established a sound that is wholly their own. It's gun-toting, throat-cutting blackened thrash metal to storm the gates of heaven... and it's about to get bigger than ever.

The band comments: "Demiser cannot wait to vomit untold blasphemies unto the world with two of metal's best in Blacklight Media and Metal Blade Records! With their support, all will soon surrender to sin..."

Since their humble beginnings, Demiser have been hard at work building up their name in the scene since their touring debut across the east coast and midwest in 2019. The release of their internationally lauded debut, Through The Gate Eternal, on Boris Records in 2021 was just another step in building a devout fanbase. The band has built up a reputation for larger than life, over the top live shows that leave frenzied fans begging for more. Slowly seeds are being sown - the next great heavy metal band is bubbling up out of the twisted South Carolina backwoods.

Now, having teamed up with Blacklight Media / Metal Blade, Demiser plan to continue writing and releasing aural hellfire, crafted specifically to pour whiskey in your ear and malice in your heart. These rip-roaring blood guzzlers intend to carry forth the torch lit from the triumph of Through the Gate Eternal and continue their blackened deathstrike on the world with the backing of two metal powerhouses! Fans can expect their Blacklight Media / Metal Blade debut in 2022 - stay tuned.

Formed in 1981, SLAYER assaulted the world with a new hybrid of metal and punk — heavier, faster and darker than the rest — and set a new standard, defining not only a genre, but an attitude. SLAYER played its final concert on November 30, 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles. One day later, Ayesha King, wife of SLAYER guitarist Kerry King, said that there is "not a chance in hell" that the thrash metal icons will reunite for more shows following the completion of their farewell tour.

Back in April 2018, Tom Araya's wife said that he had not questioned his decision to embark on one final SLAYER tour before the band called it quits.

Sandra Araya, who has been married to the SLAYER frontman for more than 20 years, told the Metal Pulp And Paper web site that the announcement that the band was pulling the plug on its nearly four-decade-long career didn't come as a surprise to her. "Not to me," she said. "I can't comfortably go into too much detail. I'll just leave it with a no."

Asked if the decision to end SLAYER was a difficult one for Tom and Kerry to make, Sandra said: "Tom never second-guesses any decision he makes. I have no idea about Kerry."

When SLAYER first announced that it was embarking on its final tour back in January 2018, Ayesha assured fans that they would "always get music" from her husband.

King has said in previous interviews that his post-SLAYER musical efforts would not be much different from the sound fans have grown accustomed to hearing from him.

EXODUS Release Persona Non Grata Album "Making Of" Trailer, Part 1; Video

With a bond forged in youth and decades-old friendship, the undisputed masters of thrash metal return with their eleventh studio album, Persona Non Grata due to be released on November 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. In the new video trailer below, Gary Holt talks about the making of the album:

Literally translating to “an unwelcome” or “unacceptable” person, Persona Non Grata touches on themes of modern societal disgust and degradation. The band gathered at Tom Hunting's house in the mountains where they produced and recorded Persona Non Grata from three home-built studios . Steve Lagudi was at the helm of engineering while the band enlisted Andy Sneap of Backstage Studios to mix the album. TIMES OF GRACE Feat. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Members Premier "Far From Heavenless" Music Video

TIMES OF GRACE Feat. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Members Premier "Far From Heavenless" Music Video

Times Of Grace, featuring Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage, released their second album, Songs Of Loss And Separation, earlier this summer. Now, the band have shared the video for "Far From Heavenless". Watch below.

The video was shot by Nick Hipa at 29 Palms, which is just outside of Joshua Tree in Southern California.

"I really enjoyed creating this song," Dutkiewicz says. "It addresses losing faith in something - whether it be organised religion, a person, or even society itself. Judgement is an alienating thing." He continues, "The video was a lot of fun to make…many thanks to Nick Hipa for coming up with the vision and dedication to get it done."

_taboola.push({
mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',

"This song is a deep cut for me," says Leach. "It reveals the dark undercurrent of the corruption and hypocrisy that can be found in some organised religion. It's about the backlash, criticism, and casting out of those who question and seek more than what is given and spoon-fed. On one side of the message is love and acceptance; on the other is condemnation and alienation. It is one in a series of songs written about an undying thirst and desire for a deeper truth. There is beauty to religion and ritual. But there are some who use this deep conviction for personal gain, manipulation, and even evil."

Overall, Times Of Grace are thrilled that the album has finally made its way out into the world. "I truly hope this album helps people as much as it helped me while writing and creating it," Leach notes. "This album is such a catharsis and a labour of passion. I feel we have made something unique and purpose-driven. I am honoured to be a part of this as it has given me a voice to speak my story alongside Adam and his. Through the difficult process of writing these lyrics and putting our pain to music, it has breathed new life and purpose into me. I am grateful this has finally been able to be shared with the world."

Alongside The Lost And The Painless, Peaceville will release a limited gold coloured vinyl LP and cassette of the original recording of Gothic to celebrate the 30th anniversary.

"Looking at the artwork for The Lost And The Painless'and remembering those early albums and live shows, It's amazing to think that Gothic was released 30 years ago. It serves as a very important chapter in the life of the band and conjures a lot of nostalgia from the early 90's. We lived off crisps, slept in squats, on people’s floors and under vehicles. Cigarettes were £1.50 a packet, Stella Artois beer was still 5.2% proof, and travelling in a Ford Transit van with all the equipment and 10 people sitting on an old mattress was considered normal. Distant memories aside, it was also a great time for Death Metal music in general, and The Lost And The Painless serves as a timely reminder." - Nick Holmes

VICTORY Feat. Former ACCEPT Guitarist HERMAN FRANK To Release Gods Of Tomorrow Album In November; Two Lyric Videos For Title Track Streaming

Ten long years after their last studio album, Don't Talk Science, hard rock titans Victory have announced their return with a brand new album. Gods Of Tomorrow will be released on November 26 via AFM Records.

Thirteen enthralling songs will take us on a wild ride of unexpected power and classic rock grandeur: Victory‘s exceptional talents prove that they can be the gods of today and also of tomorrow, but it's unquestionable they still own their place at the top of the best rock bands of all time.

After the previously released, first album appetizer "Cut To The Bone", today Victory have not only shared the album title track but two new video clips at once for "Gods Of Tomorrow". Watch both videos below.

The iconic band, who formed in 1984, belongs to one of the most distinctive hard rock acts and spearheads of their genre. Victory ranked alongside Scorpions, Accept and Halloween as one of the most successful German bands, played countless arena and festival shows all over the world and released ten multiple charting records to date. After several lineup changes and years on hiatus, in 2003 the band announced their reunion. Don't Talk Science, released in 2011, was the last record of the original lineup. But guitarist Herman Frank, who was also a longtime member of Accept, never gave up his Victory and decided to continue the band. Newborn, heavier and stronger than ever, this fall they will return to the music scene, featuring a high class lineup consisting of Frank on guitar, vocalist Gianni Pontillo, guitarist Mike Pesin, Malte Frederik Burkert on bass and drummer Michael Stein.

The 2CD digipak and 4LP fold out sets will feature 42 tracks. The 2LP set will include 22 tracks in a gatefold package. Check out a new video for "We Are Motörhead" below. Pre-orders and exclusive bundles available here.

Motörhead... a life force, an energy, an attitude and the loudest, meanest, dirtiest music to smash the 20th and 21st centuries. With a bastard sound comprising an unholy synergy of rock, punk and heavy metal, Motörhead comes coated in relentless, ear-curdling power. They were life-changing for millions, carrying a spirit and approach to life and music which proudly said, “Honey, we’re hoo-oome and don’t bother cleaning because we’re here to enjoy ourselves!” The ‘off’ switch was never employed in the Motörhead lust for life, and they became legends as a result.

Leading the charge for their entire 40 year career was the cultural icon Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister, who swashbuckled around stages, streets and overseas like a glorious Mad Max pirate truthsayer, roaring for the good and screaming at the wankers. With his propulsive sound and lyrical might leading the charge, Motörhead released 22 studio albums over those four decades, amassing chart topping records worldwide, a Grammy award and racking up around 20 million sales. Their hit song “Ace Of Spades” became Motörhead’s anthem, perfectly capturing their attitude for millions, and punching giant holes in stereos worldwide to this day. Nothing was harder, nothing was faster, nothing packed more raw attitude and certainly nothing was louder, making Motörhead a cultural elixer that was regularly imbibed across all genre lines. Don’t take our word for it, look around any heavy metal, punk or alternative gig, and you’ll see the indomitable warpig logo and Motörhead gothic script on a t-shirt, a jacket, even an arm or leg or back (Motörhead tattoos are everywhere), all sitting on the bodies of rockers, metalheads, punks, bikers, rebels, outcasts, freethinkers and even athletes all around the world. Yeah, that’s right, Motörhead's cultural reach remains virtually peerless to this very day (the one you’re living right now as you read this), and it continues to span fans young and old, igniting their adrenaline and giving them both entertainment and identity.

This collection is the definitive assembly of Motörhead songs which have created this cultural phenomenon, and represents the first time all eras of the band’s recorded history have been represented in one place. And we feel that if in this mad, mad world we’re living in, some aliens decide to drop by your house for tea and demand an explanation as to, “what the fuck is this ‘Motörhead’ is that we keep hearing and feeling bits of in our extra-terrestrial houses millions of miles away,” you could happily play Everything Louder Forever and know that the question will be thoroughly answered. Buy two copies though, because you know they won’t leave without taking one themselves! Or something like that anyway…

BORNHOLM To Release Apotheosis Album In November; "I Am War God" Music Video Posted

BORNHOLM To Release Apotheosis Album In November; "I Am War God" Music Video Posted

With over 20 years of experience and five studio albums under their belts, Hungarian black/pagan metal outfit, Bornholm, are no longer strangers to the scene. Now, the band is ready to present their exciting Napalm Records debut and brand-new, fifth studio album, Apotheosis, out November 5.

Ever since bursting onto the scene in 2000, Bornholm has been an unstoppable force in the black and pagan metal realms, touring with household names like Ex Deo, Varg, Arkona and many more. With their upcoming offering, Apotheosis, the unit is ready to take its career to another level and set the stage with sinister first single “I Am War God”. Mixing significant, ground-shaking black metal elements, ruthless growling and heroic pagan accents, the band absolutely showcases their variety and sonic progression.

Bornholm on “I Am War God”: “The song is about the ancient instinct of war and destruction of human kind, like a chisel in the hand of the sculptor forming the world when the time comes from century to century. We live hard and historical times and it’s gonna be harder than we could ever imagine. The wheels are turning by giant and ancient powers and this is what the lyrics are about. The will is the only thing that really creates, that moves the events forward… the will against will.”

Watch the music video for “I Am War God” below.

Sahsnot (Guitar/Vocals) comments: “The video was shot among the majestic woods and century-old ruins of Sweden in two parts. At first the scenes with the band members, and after a couple of days, the actors and the storyline. This is our first video that was made by a professional director, Johan Bååth, who worked with Watain earlier for example.”

Hungarian metal outfit Bornholm merges atmospheric black and pagan metal into a sphere of obscurity.

Apotheosis not only showcases Bornholm's tonal development, but also goes back to the origins of the band’s history and the heavy, often almost doomy influences mixed with indispensable atmospherically dark and raw flavor. Accompanied by sinister sacral sounds of historic proportions and a hypnotizing, incantatory chant, intro track "I Divine" heralds the dark ride to nowhere. It is precisely in the void between pagan and black metal that the sound finds its home, with tracks like “Spiritual Warfare” and “Black Shining Cloaks” - the latter of which featuring a magnificent guitar solo by Mike Wead (Mercyful Fate/King Diamond) - including its diabolic, atmospheric intro, “The Key to the Shaft of the Abyss”, representing the mellowness and extremes of the band. Along with the almost melodic borrowings and acoustic guitar inserts in combination with the pure rawness of “To the Fallen”, the record highlights the band’s variety and sonic progression. The title track “Apotheosis” is a slow, howling homage mixing aggressive, shrieking vocals and melodiously grim anecdotes. Album closer “Enthronement” closes the metaphorical and musical bracket and provides the 52-minute piece with a venerable, instrumental conclusion.

Bornholm add: “So the day has come, the new album is coming! Its title is Apotheosis, which is a Greek originated word meaning deification, divinization and the glorification of a human to a divine level. It contains 11 tracks and drives deeper into our musical world and soul than ever before. We had to deal with a lot of difficulties both in the studio and in our private life during the making, but somehow something was always guarding the birth of the record. Nothing stopped, not even for a single moment, no matter what happened. It was a great experience to go through this uprising while the world is going into another direction. We didn't lack anything; fate was with us - so the birth of the record was a sort of magical experience. Step by step, everything was in place in time and, without tolerating the outside world, we built another one for ourselves.”

On Apotheosis, the band has built a flowing, epochal sound concept that combines explosive guitar/bass lines with thunder-fast drums, spiced with choral elements and leading into a heavy blend, which Bornholm present successfully in all kinds of variations from track 1 to 11.

Recording and mixing took place at SuperSize Recording Studio in Hungary with the contribution of Viktor Scheer, with mastering completed by Maor Appelbaum, who has worked with bands like Dream Theater, Annihilator, Mayhem, Abbath and many more.

Apotheosis will be available in the following formats:

- CD Digipak
- 1LP Gatefold Black
- Digital Album

ETERNAL SILENCE Shares Edgar Allen Poe Inspired Video “Red Death Masquerade”

ETERNAL SILENCE Shares Edgar Allen Poe Inspired Video “Red Death Masquerade”

Italian symphonic metallers Eternal Silence will be releasing their new album Timegate Anathema on October 8, 2021 via Rockhots Records. Recorded at The Groove Factory (Udine, Italy) and Line/Out Studio (Milano, Italy) with mixing and mastering by Michele Guaitoli (Visions of Atlantis, Temperance, Kaledon), the full-length will feature ten tracks of symphonic and power prog metal plus will see the band introduce new elements and experimentation into their sound.

The album goes from power metal songs like "The Way Of Time" and "My Soul Sad Until Death" to heavy and dark ones like "Rain” and Red Death Masquerade", passing through the catchy melodies of tracks like "Glide In The Air" and acoustic moments on "Lonely and Firefly". The main theme that inspired the record is the concept of time.

“It has been a long time since our last full length was released, we took our time to make the best songs possible and then the pandemic broke in and forced us to stop and wait for the right time to publish it. But now everything is ready and we can't wait to finally share this with you all.” adds the band.

Today, Eternal Silence unveils their lyric video for the third single and closing album track "Red Death Masquerade". It's a heavy and symphonic track featuring dual vocalists alternating verses to the story of the song.

The band explains "Red Death Masquerade" in further detail:

"This song is inspired by the horror tale The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe. The main character appears only at the end of this story, but we can feel her presence all the time: the Death overcomes the weak and the powerful, immune to time and space. This reminds us that we are born and we die equal to each other."

Formed in Varese, Italy in 2008, Eternal Silence combines powerful guitar riffs, a thunderous rhythmic section, catchy melodies, and bombastic orchestral tracks with the support of two vocalists, Marika Vanni and guitarist Alberto Cassina sharing the front stage. The band's current line-up is completed by Alessio Sessa (bass), Andrea Zannin (drums) and Enzo Criscuolo (guitarist).

Since their formation, the band has unleashed three albums and two EPs. 2020's Renegades (EP), 2018's Metamorphosis (EP), and 2017's Mastermind Tyranny were released on Sliptrick Records, and their earlier full-lengths Raw Poetry (2013) and Chasing Chimera (2015) were released on Underground Symphony Records.

Over the years, the band has been a consistent touring presence in Europe, performing in Germany, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, and Hungary along with being support for bands such as Temperance, Therion, Haggard, Sound Storm, Blackoustic (Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) and Jani Liimatainen (Insomnium)).

ANTICHRIST SIEGE MACHINE Issue “Unleashed Hostility” Video

ANTICHRIST SIEGE MACHINE Issue “Unleashed Hostility” Video

Richmond, Virginia-based black/death duo Antichrist Siege Machine prepares to unload their combative second LP, Purifying Blade, through Profound Lore Records in early October. Today, a video for the new single “Unleashed Hostility” has been issued alongside preorders for the brutalizing album.

Antichrist Siege Machine was formed in 2016 as an alliance between RZ and SB. Through extensive touring along the East Coast and multiple releases, the band has solidified their place as a violent force to be reckoned with. Each effort has further developed the duo’s sound, enhancing the barbarity of previous releases.

The new storm of Antichrist Siege Machine’s second full-length, Purifying Blade, now approaches. Sustaining the unhinged violence on display on 2020’s Filth Of The World EP, the band rises victorious in the temple assaulted; each track on Purifying Blade is a weapon wielded by wickedness and hatred directed at the heart of Christendom. Faces of black evil, shields hardened with the cracked ribs of the dead.

Filmed and edited by Daniel Wagner, Antichrist Siege Machine presents an official video for “Unleashed Hostility,” displaying the bludgeoning attack this duo deploys.

Purifying Blade will see release through Profound Lore on LP, CD, and digital platforms on October 8. Find preorders for all territories and formats here.

Surrounding the release of Purifying Blade, Antichrist Siege Machine will take their carnage to the streets, having confirmed a hometown Richmond gig with Gatecreeper, Genocide Pact, and Mutually Assured Destruction on September 10th, followed by a show with Morbosidad, Unholy Spirits, and False Prophet in Brooklyn on September 25th. October sees them in Milwaukee on the 16th with Pan-Amerikan Native Front, Pig’s Blood, and Impure, then in Washington, DC for the Purifying Blade record release show with Bog Body and Ilsa on the 30th. The band plays Mass Destruction IV with Suffocation, Repulsion, Nuclear Assault, and more in November, and they are already booked for Maryland Deathfest and Total Death Over Mexico in 2022. Watch for further updates.

FANS OF THE DARK – Debut Album Out On Frontiers Records Srl In November; “Life Kills” Video Streaming

FANS OF THE DARK – Debut Album Out On Frontiers Records Srl In November; “Life Kills” Video Streaming

After the release of their debut single, “Escape From Hell” featuring Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper) last month, Sweden's Fans Of The Dark have now announced the upcoming release of their self-titled debut album on November 5, 2021 via Frontiers Music Srl. The band have also released a new single and music video, “Life Kills”. Preorder/save the album here.

"'Life Kills' was written during one of the worst years in recent human history, 2020. A year of suffering and loss for many people around the world, it inspired us to view life as the gift it is....something you should truly enjoy and live to the fullest, even if it means you have to remind yourself that someday it ends to be able to push yourself forward. The song needed an insanely driven guitar riff to make such a statement work and I think we got it, together with Alex's [Falk] brilliantly inspiring take on the vocals," says drummer Freddie Allen of the new single.

Fans Of The Dark is an exciting new band formed in the summer of 2020 by Freddie Allen, drummer and main songwriter, and lead vocalist Alex Falk. The pair went to high school together in Stockholm and after a few years reconnected recently with a vision to create a band which would mix the melodies and approach of classic and melodic rock with elements of the great metal music of the '80s. The final result is one of the most exciting things you'll hear emerging from the fruitful melodic rock in Sweden, showcasing a tight, inventive musical approach with outstanding vocals.

_taboola.push({

"I had written an album basically on my own during the pandemic," continues Freddie. ”But I had Alex in mind all the time and I knew that he wanted to do this. His voice is just an absolute monster and I thought it would be interesting to hear that voice singing on top of some really great songs driven by guitars, bass, and drums. That was the start of it."

The last two pieces of the puzzle to complete the band’s lineup were Robert Majd (Captain Black Beard, Metalite, Nighthawk) who came in on bass and Oscar Bromvall (Palace, Code Red) on guitar. Mixing and mastering was handled by Mike Palace (Palace, Kent Hilli).

"Now, all we want to do is record more albums and in the future play these songs in front of a live audience and really put on a show," says Freddie. "I have confidence in the material, and in our abilities as songwriters and performers. 2020 was the worst year in recent human history, 2021 has already been a lot more hopeful, and I know that 2022 is going to be even better. So, bring it on!”

RUBY THE HATCHET Sign With Magnetic Eye Records

RUBY THE HATCHET Sign With Magnetic Eye Records

Ruby The Hatchet have signed a deal with Magnetic Eye Records, joining the label as its biggest signing yet. The meteoric rising psychedelic rockers from New Jersey will release scorching new material in 2022 via the label.

Singer Jillian Taylor describes what's ahead for Ruby The Hatchet: "Our next album is going to encapsulate 5-plus years of musical growth.  Multiple members have become singers and songwriters within the band, and listeners will hear new voices and directions picking up right where Planetary Space Child left off and expanding upwards. Ruby has evolved a lot through our touring years, and there has been much to reflect on over the last year specifically. Our first foray with MER is going to be a major ear tease for what’s to come with the upcoming full-length.

“On our last US tour supporting Kadavar, we stopped into Earthquaker HQ in Akron, Ohio, for a session before our show that night. It was the dead of winter and we were trying out two new songs throughout the tour that the band was super excited about. At this point, we had been road-dogging for a few years straight and felt very much in the pocket. When we listened back to the session after returning home, we couldn't believe it was live... Jeff France and the Earthquaker crew had captured us in the height of our tour tightness, and as soon as we brought it to MER, they agreed that this live session deserved a special release of its own. We like to take our time and truly try to challenge ourselves with every release, so thank you to everyone for waiting. It always feels as if we first embark by writing outside of our abilities, like trying to lasso wild horses in the dark, but now we're saddled up and ready to ride."

On the signing, Taylor continues: "This next group of songs really scratch the itch of rock and roll progression for us, and taking them to Magnetic Eye Records is something we are incredibly excited about.  The gang had such a good feeling upon initially working with Jadd and MER several years back for our contribution to their Pink Floyd Redux releases. They were one of the first labels we saw doing curated cover compilations and reaching out to bands organically to get involved. Ruby has been in the game for a while now, but we keep it pretty simple and centered on the craft, something MER picked up on and made easy... no frills, just people digging music. Ideas and communication flow freely with them, and we are really looking forward to all the fun collaborations this partnership will bring."

MER's Jadd Shickler welcomes Ruby The Hatchet: "Magnetic Eye took some big steps in 2020, and started to think about bands we'd always loved to imagine on our roster but hadn't felt ready to approach previously", reveals the label director. "Ruby the Hatchet immediately leapt to my mind. They're masters at taking inspiration from decades of rock history and creating fresh, progressive, captivating songs.  And live, there's just no one and nothing like them onstage in this century.  I couldn't have been happier to find them excited at the prospect of working together, and I'm really stoked at the ways Magnetic Eye's scope is expanding thanks to the arrival of bands like Ruby, Heavy Temple and Besvärjelsen.  I can't wait to see this all reach critical mass in 2022, and hope the fans of what we do are just as excited!"

Ruby The Hatchet's Live at Earthquaker 7” EP will arrive near the beginning of 2022.  Their new full-length album will be released later in 2022 as well, and is being recorded with Paul Ritchie (The Parlor Mob, gods) at New Future Studio in Belmar, NJ.

VEGA Streaming New Single "Beautiful Lie"

VEGA Streaming New Single "Beautiful Lie"

UK rockers Vega are back with Anarchy And Unity, their seventh studio album overall and the culmination of a string of releases which started in 2009 with their debut album, Kiss Of Life. The new album will be released on September 17.

Listen to the single "Beautiful Lie" below, and pre-order/save Anarchy And Unity on CD/LP/Digital here.

"The songs started like all Vega songs, with myself, Tom, and James writing and recording. Then Billy and Pete came along and for the first time we had everyone in the band getting involved in the songwriting. The songs Tom, James and I wrote were still there, but now with a steroid injection and production touches that just took them to new levels. Everyone had such a vital part to play on this album which is why every song is written, performed and produced by Vega. As always, we had no agenda when writing, we just wrote as and when the moment took us. However, we wanted the album to have a really solid, in your face sound that you can feel pumping in your chest," says frontman Nick Workman of how Anarchy And Unity came together.

window._taboola = window._taboola || [];

Anarchy And Unity, while not a departure from the band’s defined and classy sound, shows a band determined, mature, and ready for the next step in their career. It has a crisp sound and immaculate musicianship showcasing the great talents in the band. On the songwriting front, the band have returned with a more muscular sound, but no less full to the brim with melodies that will grab you from the first note to the last.

Anarchy And Unity sees two new faces in the band, Billy Taylor (ex-Inglorious) on guitars and Pete Newdeck (Di'Anno) on drums. They join singer Nick Workman, guitarist Marcus Thurston, and the brothers Martin, keyboardist James and bassist Tom.

Vega’s members have a rich history, but it was their meeting of musical minds back in 2009 that would lead to the melodic rock genre receiving one of the finest releases of that year in the form of their debut album, Kiss Of Life. The eclectic, off-kilter style of rock made them stand out from the crowd and the band have always been keen to be more than just another “AOR” band.

After the warmly received sophomore release What The Hell, the band recorded their third album Stereo Messiah at the home studio of John Mitchell. The It Bites frontman managed to get the best out of the band as they lived at the studio and fully immersed themselves in the process. With Mitchell’s all-time favourite album being Def Leppard’s Hysteria, a production that Mutt Lange would be proud of was pursued. Coincidentally, Stereo Messiah was also graced by the vocal presence of Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, who also gave the band a song for the album.

The fourth instalment in the Vega saga saw them releasing an album that was reckoned to be the best of their recording career. Produced and mixed by Harry Hess (Harem Scarem), Who We Are saw them in fine form. It was like they’d pulled together all the pieces of the puzzle, coming up with an album of such magnitude that it was hard to put into words. Lyrically compelling, it traversed rock genres with ease, hitting a note with pop and rock fans alike. Songs like "Saving Grace", "White Flag", and "Every Little Monster" are sublime moments on an album that was full of outstanding songs. The subsequent tour with the Dan Reed Network was one of that year’s finest pairings in the UK, whilst their Hard Rock Hell performance was the stuff of legend.

2017 saw them releasing Only Human, a collection of songs that focused on their core strengths: strong harmonies, big choruses, and compelling lyrical content.  The album exceeded their expectations by hitting the UK National Rock Chart at #3 between Shinedown and Black Stone Cherry. The band toured with the Quireboys, Skid Row and many others, including a stop at Download along with their heroes Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

2020 saw the band release their well-received sixth studio album, Grit Your Teeth. The band was feeling energized and thrilled at the prospect of playing these songs to fans in the live setting. But, of course, the world wound up in the throes of a worldwide pandemic and the universe had other plans. Unable to tour as they normally would in support of a new album, the band set about to channel their energies into the writing and recording of their seventh album, Anarchy And Unity.

With pent up energy, a rejuvenated lineup, and a brand new album, Vega are firing on all cylinders. Watch out for tour dates in the UK in the fall.
