CHAOS RISING Premier "Last Breath" Music Video

CHAOS RISING Premier "Last Breath" Music Video

International all-female metal collective, Chaos Rising, have dropped their seventeenth (!) single and video. Yet again transcending genre boundaries, "The Last Breath" is the girls’ progressive take on a modern power ballad, with shifting time signatures and soaring builds.

This song is brought to you from Russia, Switzerland, Germany, France and UK, with vocals by Corinna Kurschatke (Bloodfinch), guitar and piano by Catherine Fearns, bass and video production from Natalia Rozanova, drums by Elena Dergaus, and mixing as always by Stéphanie Nolf.

"The Last Breath" also features cello accompaniment by Ksenia Dolgorukova and a stunning guitar solo from Chaos Rising’s regular shredder, Barbara Teleki.

“It began with a simple melody and an unusual chord progression,” says songwriter Catherine Fearns. “But Chaos Rising songs are always collaborations and often develop in unexpected directions as each musician adds their stamp. I wanted to write a song for Corinna because I love her voice and her skill in finding melodies, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the result.”

Corinna explains the lyrics of this highly emotional song: “'The Last Breath' is about the inner fight of someone who is going to lose a sick, beloved person. Struggling between bitter sadness, despair, helplessness, anger and acceptance. The suffering of the sick person ends with death. The suffering of the one still here remains.”

Founded by French multi-instrumentalist Stéphanie Nolf, Chaos Rising is a unique concept that brings together female metal musicians from across the globe. Since 2019 the project has gone from strength to strength, with seventeen monthly song releases across metal sub-genres.

NEGURĂ BUNGET Reveal Final Album Details; "Brad" Music Video Posted

NEGURĂ BUNGET Reveal Final Album Details; "Brad" Music Video Posted

Negură Bunget have released a video for "Brad" ("fir tree") as the first single taken from the Romanian black metal pioneers' final album and conclusion of their Transylvanian trilogy, which is entitled Zău ("Old God"). Zău is slated for release on November 26. The "Brad" video can be found below.

Zău is the legacy of drummer and mastermind "Gabriel "Negru" Mafa, who tragically passed far too early at the age of 42 years on March 21, 2017. This album has been completed and respectfully created upon Negru's original drum-track recordings by the last lineup of Negură Bunget.

"After the tragic passing of Gabriel 'Negru' Mafa we all felt compelled to fulfil his legacy according to his ideas and wishes, which meant that we had to complete the Transylvanian trilogy", writes the band collectively. "Working on this album, we all felt Gabriel's guiding presence among us. We all knew the details directly from him, because as the very organised person that Gabriel was, he had written everything down. The drums that you hear on Zău are played by Gabriel as he had already recorded the pilot for the album before his passing. The rest of us just contributed with our parts as usual, although it was a difficult time and process for all of us. We missed the musical and philosophical debates with Gabriel. In the end, we succeeded to complete his work. The title of the third part of the Transylvanian Trilogy Zău means 'Old God' in Romanian but it also designates a wonder. This album focuses on Transylvanian landscapes, mythology, and spirituality. 'Brad', which translates as 'fir tree' represents the most cinematic track of this album. The symbolism of the fir tree in Romanian traditional culture is vast and complex. For example, it can represent immortality and the circle of life as it accompanies all the important stages: birth, marriage, and death. Our friend, the artist Daniel Dorobantu created the stunning video for this song."

Martin Koller adds: "In many ways, Zău is unlike most other albums", writes the label's founder. "We felt it important that this record would be released in the 25th anniversary year of Prophecy Productions as it somehow felt that this would add to the special tribute we intended it to be to the late Gabriel 'Negru' Mafa. He spoke so many times about the Transylvanian trilogy and how much it meant to him that we knew, we had to get it right. It was so very important to Gabriel, it had become very important to us, his label family. We want to honour all those years of friendship and fruitful collaboration with this posthumous release. We are therefore beyond grateful from the bottom of our hearts for the band to be able to finish what they had started with Gabriel: A stunning testimony of the innovative power and musical creativity of Negură Bunget. We also want to express our deep gratitude towards everybody else, not at least Gabriel's wife Alina, who helped in the making of this amazing record and its artwork. We are glad that we will make it happen before this year is over and we sincerely hope, you will come to love Zău as much as we do."

Zău will be available as a hardcover 36-page CD/DVD artbook, gatefold white vinyl LP, gatefold black vinyl LP, and on Digipak CD. Pre-order here.

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist CHRIS HOLMES To Release 'Unbearable Influence' Album Next Month

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist CHRIS HOLMES To Release 'Unbearable Influence' Album Next Month

Former W.A.S.P. lead guitarist Chris Holmes will release his new studio album, "Unbearable Influence", on September 26. A pre-order for the LP is available at Bandcamp.

Holmes joined W.A.S.P. in 1982 and remained with the group until 1990. In 1996, the guitarist returned to W.A.S.P. and stayed with the band until 2001. Chris has not played with W.A.S.P. since.

Last October, Chris said that he would never consider returning to W.A.S.P. unless the band's leader, Blackie Lawless, agreed to pay him the publishing royalties that he allegedly owes him. He told Canada's The Metal Voice: "A lot of people think I made money from W.A.S.P. I've never gotten my royalties, or even my songwriting. All the stuff that I wrote, I've never gotten paid one penny. And you know whose fault it is? It's my my fault for not knowing the business, how it is. I trusted somebody.

"After every album, when the album is done, how they split up the publishing with the publishing contracts, the publishing companies — that's where the money comes from," he continued. "I was never told about when that meeting was. Because the other guys in the band never wrote — I was the only one [other than Blackie]. So I'm the only one that they have to screw over to get all the publishing. So I was never told. Then when I dug into it in about 2006 or [2007], I went into Sanctuary Music, had a lawyer go in to find out where all my publishing is, and I was written in as a session player into all the records. And if you don't know about it, and you're not told, and you don't see, you don't know. So I trusted Blackie Lawless about that. And when I found out, it really kind of yanked me wrong. It yanks me wrong — it makes me see he was sticking a knife in my back from the first day, from the first album, and not telling me, and being my best friend."

As far as Holmes is concerned, Lawless is solely to blame for him not getting his due from the W.A.S.P. records that he was involved with.

"If it wasn't for me, he wouldn't be where he's at — I guarantee you that," Chris said. "And then he screws me like that. It's all right. It's been a long time. It's something that I will never, never get over. I'll take that to the grave with me. I'm pissed thinking about it.

"Anyway, that's the kind of person he is. Everybody thinks, 'Wow! He's got the greatest…' Yeah, he's got an outrageous voice, Blackie, yeah, but he turns his back on his bandmembers real bad — he screws 'em. I'm the only guy in the band that ever came back to get screwed twice, which I did. I came back for 'Kill.Fuck.Die', and I was promised half publishing on that album. Didn't get crap. Knowing that I couldn't get in to see what was written in the contracts, of course. That's why I wrote the song 'Two Faced Mother Fucker'. It's about him. It's on 'Shitting Bricks'. And I've got one on the new album. It's called 'The Truth'. It says, 'You can't handle the truth.' It's on my new [album]. I'm gonna write a song about him on every album."

Addressing the possibility of his return to W.A.S.P., Holmes said: "Everybody asks me about a W.A.S.P. reunion. Sure, I'd love to play a W.A.S.P. reunion — if he pays me my publishing. If it doesn't, then he can have a reunion with Randy Piper, Johnny Rod and [Steve] Riley and everybody else. I'm not gonna play it. It's not worth it.

"I came back to W.A.S.P. in '95. I got screwed again," he added. "Screw me once, screw me twice — you're not gonna screw me a third time."

The documentary film "Mean Man: The Story Of Chris Holmes" was made available this past January on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD. It was written and directed by French filmmakers Antoine De Montremy and Laurent Hart.

DAVID ELLEFSON Teases His First Post-MEGADETH Project THE LUCID

DAVID ELLEFSON Teases His First Post-MEGADETH Project THE LUCID

David Ellefson is teasing his first project since he was fired from MEGADETH. Earlier today (Wednesday, September 1), the 56-year-old bassist revealed via his social media that his new band THE LUCID will release its first music on September 8.

THE LUCID is a four-piece hard rock band featuring Ellefson, vocalist Vinnie Dombroski (SPONGE), guitarist Drew Fortier and drummer Mike Heller (RAVEN, FEAR FACTORY). THE LUCID's debut self-titled album features nine heavy-hitting and emotionally charged tracks showcasing this eclectic quartet's unique sonic approach.

During a November 2020 appearance on "The Chuck Schute Podcast", Ellefson stated about how he got involved with THE LUCID (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Drew sent me a track and said, 'Hey, can you throw a bass on here?' And I was writing a new ELLEFSON solo record at the time, so my studio ears were on. I was plugged in and ready to go. He sent it over and I was, like, 'Yeah, this is freaking cool, man.' I'd seen Drew play, I know his BANG TANGO history and the other stuff he's done. But this was really cool stuff that spoke to me. And then he called me up and he said, 'Hey, Vinnie is gonna come in and write some vocals and lyrics and lay down some tracks.' And it turned into a thing."

"I love [Vinnie]. I love SPONGE," David continued. "He's such a rock star. He's just a cool guy. And he writes such great lyrics — very trippy lyrics. He's the type of lyricist I'd never worked with before, so it's fun with that. And Drew is a great guitar player. Mike Heller — he's good friends with [MEGADETH drummer] Dirk Verbeuren. And Dirk's, like, 'Mike's awesome.' They're good friends. We all met in L.A. We got the songs together and we all met in L.A. in mid-July. I plugged in and banged out 10 songs in two days. And it was fun. Mike was very good in the studio; he really knows his way around."

As for THE LUCID's musical direction, Ellefson said: "It's cool stuff, and it's very different. It's, obviously, not thrash metal, hence the name LUCID. [The name] kind of feels like what the music sounds like."

Ellefson was dismissed from MEGADETH in late May, just days after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving him were posted on Twitter. A short time later, he released a statement on Instagram denying all social media chatter that he "groomed" an underage fan. He also filed a report with the police department in Scottsdale, Arizona alleging unlawful distribution of sexually explicit images of him by unknown offenders. In the report, Ellefson admitted that he had been exchanging sexual text messages with a Dutch teenager, who captured a video of several of their virtual "masturbating encounters" without his consent and shared them with friends. (According to Ellefson, the woman was 19 at the time of their first virtual sexual encounter.) Ellefson, who lives in Scottsdale, first became aware of the video on May 9, when the claim "David Ellefson of MEGADETH is a pedophile" appeared on Instagram. Ellefson told police he was notified on May 14 by MEGADETH that the band would be parting ways with him. Three days later, he was fired.

Ellefson laid down his bass tracks on MEGADETH's sixteenth LP in May 2020 at a studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

In July, MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine announced during an episode of his Gimme Radio program "The Dave Mustaine Show" that Ellefson's bass tracks would not be used on the new MEGADETH LP.

On May 24, Mustaine — who formed MEGADETH with Ellefson in 1983 — announced the bassist's departure from the band.

Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest exit.

NIGHTWISH Founder TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN Talks New AURI Album - "We've Been Sitting On This Album For Nearly A Year" (Video)

NIGHTWISH Founder TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN Talks New AURI Album - "We've Been Sitting On This Album For Nearly A Year" (Video)

Tuonela Magazine recently had the opportunity to chat with Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish) and Johanna Kurkela about the upcoming release from Auri, Those We Don´t Speak Of. Check out the interview below.

On the album release:

Tuomas: "It’s about time. We’ve been sitting on this album for nearly a year. It was mixed already in October last year."

window._taboola = window._taboola || [];
_taboola.push({
mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',
container: 'taboola-mid-article-thumbnails',
placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails',
target_type: 'mix'
});

Johanna: "It’s been a long way."

Tuomas: "But for some reason, the record label thought that this album sounds more like autumn than spring. So they were really adamant that it should be postponed until September to be released. We were like okay, whatever."

On the difference between Those We Don't Speak Of and the Auri debut:

Johanna: "I don’t think we really think much about it. We just let the music come and then we just look at it, 'Well, this is what we made.' There are some darker shades for sure but then again there was “Savant” [on the first album].

Tuomas: "Music is great because it’s always sort of subjective for their makers and the listeners as well. When I think about the first album, songs like you mentioned 'Savant' or 'Underthing Solstice', they are, to me, quite dark. On this album, songs like 'The Duty of Dust', 'Those We Don’t Speak Of', or 'Scattered to the Four Winds', even 'Fireside Bard', the ending of that song is quite dark, so I don’t know. Both of the albums have their lighter and darker moments."

Johanna: "We never plan ahead."

Tuomas: "Never ever. That’s the freedom that I was just talking about. Auri needs to be pure freedom, no conflict, no egos, no restraints, and we have to give credit to the record label, again, to Nuclear Blast. They never ever asked us about any samples or demos or anything. They just say that to the album, master it, deliver us the master copy and that’s it. That’s pretty rare."

“The Valley” is the second single taken from the upcoming Auri album II- Those We Don´t Speak Of, which will be released on September 3 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Tuomas Holopainen comments on the track as follows:  "'The Valley' is an ode to homecoming. It`s about things worth a long wait, and about all the wondrous waypoints on the road. And, while you`re wandering on that road, why not write a little tune to keep you company. A tune most delicate and hard to catch, but willing to reveal itself once you`ve made your journey, and have almost reached home.”

II - Those We Don't Speak Of will be available in the following formats:

- CD digipak
- Earbook including CD and 36 booklet art pages
- LP red gold
- LP red marbled (NB mailorder exclusive, limited to 300)

SHINEDOWN's BRENT SMITH On Touring During Pandemic: It's Bandmembers' 'Responsibility' To 'Stay Healthy'

SHINEDOWN's BRENT SMITH On Touring During Pandemic: It's Bandmembers' 'Responsibility' To 'Stay Healthy'

In a brand new interview with HardDrive Radio, SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith spoke about what it has been like for him and bandmates to play live shows during the pandemic. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Finally being able to get back out with SHINEDOWN, man, it was emotional. It really, really was. These eight shows, they were massive — they were, like, big attendance; everything was sold out.

"Obviously, people know what transpired," he continued. "We were in the middle of rehearsals, and then Barry [Kerch, drums] tested positive for COVID in the middle of rehearsals. We were able to get our good friend Dustin [Steinke] from SIXX:A.M. to come in and fill in for Barry for three shows until Barry had a negative test. Once again, Barry was fully vaccinated in April of this year, so it kind of is what it is. We got [Barry] back out there and then just stayed really meticulous with the protocol. We're still having to do behind the scenes… The outfit, we kind of create our own bubble. The crew stays with the crew. The band stays with the band and the crew. Days off, we don't kind of go out with anybody else; we kind of stick together. No one right now is able to go into any kind of big areas where there's a bunch of people without a mask, just because we're still in the middle of this. Because if one of the bandmembers tests positive, we're in a bad situation.

"So we're just trying to be meticulous about everything going into this next run, which is longer than what we just did," Brent added. "It's five weeks — a lot of big, big shows. The focus is just being smart, staying healthy, doing what we need to do. Because we don't need to go backwards. We've gotta push forward. You've got take responsibility for yourself also, man. You've gotta stay healthy. You've gotta stay up on things. You've gotta give yourself as much as you can. Especially in the industry right now — it's your responsibility. If you're a band or you're an artist that's touring right now, we're still in the middle of all this. So you've just gotta go through the protocol, man."

SHINEDOWN has spent the last few months recording its seventh studio album for an early 2022 release. The follow-up to "Attention Attention" is being recorded at a new studio in Charleston, South Carolina spearheaded by the group's bassist and producer Eric Bass.

SHINEDOWN's film "Attention Attention", a cinematic experience of the band's 2018 studio album of the same name, will premiere worldwide on Friday, September 3. Available on digital and cable VOD via Gravitas Ventures, "Attention Attention" is a visual journey that brings to life the story of SHINEDOWN's acclaimed chart-topping album, their sixth full-length, which has accumulated more than 622 million global streams, debuted Top 5 on the Billboard 200, simultaneously hit No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative, Top Rock and Hard Rock Albums charts, and led to five iHeartRadio Music Award nominations. This sonic and visual work of art was directed by Bill Yukich (BEYONCÉ, METALLICA, WIZ KHALIFA) and features theatrical performances from the band, Melora Walters ("Magnolia", "Big Love", "PEN15"), and Francesca Eastwood ("Old", "Twin Peaks", "Fargo"), among others.

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON: 'I Find It Incredible That Some People Are Still Resistant' To Getting Vaccinated

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON: 'I Find It Incredible That Some People Are Still Resistant' To Getting Vaccinated

IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month after being fully vaccinated, discussed his battle with the disease in a new interview with Lyndsey Parker, editor-in-chief of Yahoo! Music.

"I'm absolutely fine," he said. "I never doubted I would be. I mean, it's like, you know, look, everybody I know has had both jabs. I'm quite happy about it. You know, none of us have started growing extra heads, suddenly wanting to sidle up to 5G phone masts or expressed a willingness to go down on Bill Gates. So all of these things I think is largely a myth. And yeah, so I'm absolutely fine."

Dickinson went on to lament the hesitancy toward medical and scientific recommendations, including the COVID-19 vaccine.

"I do honestly find it incredible that some people are still resistant [to getting vaccinated], but that's okay," he said. "The mask thing I genuinely do not understand. It doesn't mean you have to go wear masks everywhere all the time, but it's just that kind of awareness. Clearly, they do help. And if they do help, then why not? I mean, what is this craziness about it? I don't understand it. Not a big deal, quite frankly. There are much more weird things you could get upset about, which are probably quite serious, you know?"

Bruce stressed that while vaccines are exceptionally effective in preventing death and severe illness from the coronavirus and its known variants, they are far from foolproof in preventing infection altogether.

"Most people that have been vaccinated and get a case of what is almost certainly the delta variant, because it's 100% the dominant variant pretty much everywhere," he said. "So the people who are, these skeptics, will go, 'Oh yeah, yeah, but you still got it.' I said, 'Yeah, I did still get it.' My belief is — and I stress it's a belief, 'cause I can't prove that I wouldn't have been more sick if I'd not taken the vaccine. There's no proof of that. The only reason I'd prove that is if I didn't take the vaccine and got very, very sick, and then I'd be able to go to all these vaccine skeptics and go, 'There you are. You see? I told you I was right. I'm really sick.'"

He continued: "I mean, there's no arguing people like that, because their facts are based on different facts to the rest of us. I don't think it's anything to do with politics. I don't think people believe things like this because of politics. They believe it because of their psychological makeup. They have a need to believe in these things. And in fact, it's the same as people who go and sit on top of a mountain every year and wait for the world to end. And the world doesn't end. But do they modify their beliefs? Actually, no. It strengthens them that, 'Yep, we were right all along. It is definitely gonna end, just not this year. You see? The rest of the world is against us.' That's the way that some people think. It's their mentality. And you're probably not gonna change that. But for the rest of us, I would say just get vaccinated. And if you do get sick, you won't get very sick. It'll just be like a mild case of the flu."

Dickinson previously told Rolling Stone magazine that he doesn't personally believe that fans attending concerts should be required to get vaccinated, calling it "a personal choice," However, he said that he hopes everyone will get the shot. "Personally, I think people are just very badly advised if they don't go and get themselves double jabbed as quickly as possible, not for the reasons of going into concerts, but for their own health," he said. "Having said that, even if you've had a double jab, you can still get COVID, and therefore you can spread it to other people who might not have been vaccinated and they might get very sick and die. Now you cannot legislate against mortality. There are many things in this world that kill people and they're not illegal but are unfortunate. Cancer kills a lot of people. Heart attacks kill a lot of people. Obesity kills a lot of people. Malaria kills a shitload of people every year… So at some point, we have to just go, 'We're probably going to have to live with this. And if we're going to live with it, then you have your vaccination.'"

IRON MAIDEN's new album, "Senjutsu", will be released on September 3 via BMG. It was recorded in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by bassist Steve Harris.

The video for the LP's first single, "The Writing On The Wall", was made by BlinkInk based on a concept by Dickinson with two former Pixar executives. It followed a month-long teaser campaign and global "treasure hunt" for clues about the track title and conc

Ex-JUDAS PRIEST Guitarist K.K. DOWNING: 'I've Been Denied' The Opportunity To 'Step Back Into My Role'

Ex-JUDAS PRIEST Guitarist K.K. DOWNING: 'I've Been Denied' The Opportunity To 'Step Back Into My Role'

Ex-JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing, who left JUDAS PRIEST a decade ago, spoke about his former group in a brand new interview with Let's Rock. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "When I quit and my voice wasn't being heard and I was very frustrated in 2010, we all agreed to end the band. We were about to embark on the 'Epitaph' tour, which was the final farewell tour. We were ending the band. I just decided I didn't wanna go forward to do the final tour, because I didn't think I would enjoy it, and I wanted to enjoy it, because things were not right in the band. Everything had come to a head, and it was ugly; it wasn't right. And I wanted my voice to be heard, so that I could go and enjoy the farewell tour of the band. But if that wasn't gonna happen, I jumped ship. It was the end. They didn't tell me they were gonna carry on for another 10 years… Because we all agreed it was the end. I told them I wasn't gonna do the farewell tour. We had all the press releases, everything, about the end of the band. It was gonna be the end of the band, however long the tour was gonna be. And my replacement was coming in to do the farewell tour, and that was it. Those guys told the world that I retired from the band. But we were all retiring. I've got the press statements here on file. We were all retiring. And they didn't tell the world that I changed my mind a couple of months later, and I was speaking to Ian [Hill, PRIEST bassist] about doing the tour, and had him send me the setlist over. They didn't tell the world that either. But they still sent out the press release, ignored my intentions of doing the tour.

"I was the one that was very loyal — loyal, always loyal — to JUDAS PRIEST. Because in 2010, Rob [Halford, PRIEST singer] did a tour with his own band, playing JUDAS PRIEST songs, and he did release two studio albums. All of this was getting more than I can take, and that's what happened.

"Anyway, lots of water under the bridge," Downing added. "There's a big story still to be told. I hope the fans can find it in their hearts to believe that the set of circumstances was not what was supposed to happen. History was changed, and it's been changed since, with the opportunity of me potentially being able to step back into my role. I've been denied that. The media have been denied that, [as well as] the fans, and the history has been denied that."

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance.

In 2019, Downing said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's upcoming 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

Last year, Downing announced the formation of KK'S PRIEST, in which he is joined by former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).

KK'S PRIEST's debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", will be released on October 1 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records. The LP's first single, "Hellfire Thunderbolt", came out in May. The title track followed in June.

MATT SORUM Doesn't Wish He Was Still In GUNS N' ROSES: The Universe Intended 'Something Else' For Me

MATT SORUM Doesn't Wish He Was Still In GUNS N' ROSES: The Universe Intended 'Something Else' For Me

Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum has told Billboard in a new interview that he doesn't wish he was invited to rejoin the group when it launched its "Not In This Lifetime" tour five years ago.

The 60-year-old musician, who has also played with THE CULT, VELVET REVOLVER and HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, is not involved with GN'R's hugely successful reunion, which features singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan alongside drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

"People will ask me, 'Don't you want to be out on the road with those guys? Why aren't you on the tour?'" he said. "And I'm, like, 'Well, something else is in store. I had a baby. I'm doing different projects. I'm doing my own thing.' That's what the universe has intended for me. I've never tried to put a square peg into a round hole."

Back in March 2019, Sorum told "Loudwire Nights" that he learned about the partial reunion of GUNS N' ROSES' classic lineup "probably about" the same time as "everybody else did. I was in the band HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES there for a minute," he said. "So it was kind of around that time. That's basically what happened. And then it just went the way it went. And life goes on."

Sorum, who replaced Steven Adler in GUNS N' ROSES, recorded the highly successful albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" (both 1991) and "The Spaghetti Incident" (1994). He also supported the group on the "Use Your Illusion" tour and can be heard on GUNS N' ROSES' "Live Era: '87-'93" (1999) and "Greatest Hits" (2004).

Matt was among the GUNS N' ROSES members who were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2012. He, Adler, Slash and McKagan attended the ceremony, while Rose and founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin stayed home.

Sorum told The Pulse Of Radio in a 2009 interview that if the classic GUNS N' ROSES band reunited, they should perform with both him and Adler. "If it's me on drums or Steven or whatever, if it happened, it'd be great, you know," he said. "I would actually say to them, 'Hey, bring both of us back,' you know. Let me play the other stuff. We'll have two drum kits. I don't care. If 'Appetite [For Destruction]' [the band's debut] sounds better with Steven playing it, have both guys up there. They can afford it."

Matt is set to release his new book, "Double Talkin' Jive: True Rock 'N' Roll Stories", on September 7 via Rare Bird Books

WHITECHAPEL Announces 'Kin' Album, Drops 'Lost Boy' Music Video

WHITECHAPEL Announces 'Kin' Album, Drops 'Lost Boy' Music Video

Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL will release their new album, "Kin", on October 29 via Metal Blade Records.

For a first preview of the record, a music video for "Lost Boy", directed by Miles Skarin, can be viewed below.

At this stage in the game, the name WHITECHAPEL commands respect. Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, in 2019 they dropped "The Valley", showcasing a confident evolution in their sound and standing as a true landmark release that sets a new standard for the genre.

"To me, it was like the stars aligning for us to create our almost perfect record in regard to songwriting, vocal performance, the mix and master, and the artwork," says guitarist Alex Wade. "We like to look at our albums as chapters of our career, and that is one chapter I will never forget. I think it really solidified that we can embrace a new sound, and if we execute it properly, then the fanbase is going to support and enjoy it."

In 2021, WHITECHAPEL returns with that album's successor, the mighty "Kin", which is an even more dynamic and diverse collection, further advancing the band's sound into new territory without losing sight of what brought them to this point.

"I feel with every album, we learn what worked best on the last one and try to utilize that in our writing," adds vocalist Phil Bozeman. "Early in the writing, there was some discussion of the album being like 'The Valley' part II, not literally called that, but in how the songs sound and flow through it. It's very much a storytelling type record like 'The Valley' was. Musically, we just want to create what we vibe with at the given moment. We write music with how we feel and not what is expected of us, while lyrically the idea of continuing from the story of 'The Valley' was always the goal."

The resulting record explores a lot of sonic and emotional territory, and for the first time, it could be said that a WHITECHAPEL record is as much a rock album as it is a metal one, an assertion Wade agrees with.

"It's still very much a metal album, but there are elements of the record that have more of a rock and open vibe," he says. "We really wanted these songs to breathe and have life and to sound bigger than anything we've made so far. We have explored more singing on 'Kin' too. It wouldn't make sense to have the majority of the fanbase enjoy that sound and then shy away from it." This is not to say that the band have lost their hardest edges, with the full-on death metal assault that kicks off both "Lost Boy" and "To The Wolves" as brutal and serrated as extreme metal gets, and while Bozeman explores his wide-ranging singing voice more, he also cuts loose with his trademark roar across the album's eleven tracks.

Tracking of "Kin" was predominantly done at guitarist Zach Householder's home studio with producer Mark Lewis producing his fifth straight WHITECHAPEL album, making for a very comfortable working environment.

"Creating records with [Mark] has an effortless flow to it, and we can track things pretty quickly and efficiently these days," says Wade. "Mark has a great ear for giving us unique and complementary guitar and drum tones for the songs we are trying to record." The tracks were then sent off to David Castillo at Ghostward Studios in Sweden for mixing, with Ted Jensen mastering it in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, having another album they can be as proud of as its predecessor, it stands them in good stead as they look toward the future. "I see more growth and a limitless potential," says Wade. "I think we found a great formula on 'The Valley', and we used that to create another monumental record for our career that I can't wait for people to hear. We hope to continue to grow our fanbase with this new album, and always seek to move in a positive direction. I'm excited as the pandemic lessens for the touring world to come back to life and to be able to perform these massive songs we have created in the manner they were meant to be heard — live and loud."

GEORGE LYNCH Doesn't Think It's Odd For Him To Release So Many Albums: 'It's What I Do For A Living'

GEORGE LYNCH Doesn't Think It's Odd For Him To Release So Many Albums: 'It's What I Do For A Living'

In recent years, legendary guitarist George Lynch has recorded albums with a number of different projects, including LYNCH MOB, KXM, SWEET & LYNCH, THE END MACHINE and DIRTY SHIRLEY. His most recent release was his first-ever full-length instrumental album, "Seamless", which came out earlier in the month via Rat Pak Records.

Speaking to Vinylestimes Classic Rock Radio, Lynch said that he finds it perfectly normal for him to get involved with as many different projects as possible. "It's kind of strange when people ask me about the amount of records I put out, like it's odd," he said. "But I don't think it's odd, because it's what I do for a living, and I love what I do for a living, so I do as much of it as I can, just because I can. I mean, what else am I gonna do? I'm not really into just sitting around and doing nothing. I like being busy, I like being productive, and I love writing music and playing my guitar. So I'll do it every opportunity I get."

Despite the fact that Lynch's creativity and musicianship has been showcased on over 50 albums since 1982 and 2022 will mark his 45th anniversary as a professional musician, he says that he has generally stuck within one genre of music and hasn't ventured too far out of his comfort zone.

"In retrospect, I don't think I've done enough to surprise my fans or to even challenge myself," he said. "I think I've stayed pretty much along the hard rock lines — with some exceptions, like PROJECT NFIDELIKAH and ULTRAPHONIX, [where] I've gotten into other areas of funk and stuff. But it's not like I'm doing these radically different styles of music. They're just different flavors of hard rock, really."

"Seamless" features nine brand new tracks and three bonus tracks from Lynch, who is backed by drummer Jimmy D'Anda and bassist Eric Loiselle on the album.

Starting in music in 1977, Lynch has long since been considered one of the most-notable guitar players of all time. His work with DOKKEN and LYNCH MOB has garnered him a legion of devoted fans around the globe.

Last year, Lynch told Guitar World magazine that staying "diversified" was key to making a living in rock music today. "Do everything," he said. "Be an engineer, be a composer, play every instrument you can, get endorsements, learn how to make a web site, be social-media savvy and keep your eye on everything."

ACCEPT Bassist's New Solo Album To Feature JOE SATRIANI, BRUCE KULICK, WOLF HOFFMANN, GREGG BISSONETTE

ACCEPT Bassist's New Solo Album To Feature JOE SATRIANI, BRUCE KULICK, WOLF HOFFMANN, GREGG BISSONETTE

Martin Motnik, bass player for German pioneers of heavy metal ACCEPT, is currently finishing up his second solo CD. His album consists of 10 bass-centric songs, with each song featuring a solo by a prolific guest musician:

* Joe Satriani (solo, CHICKENFOOT)

* Wolf Hoffmann (ACCEPT)

* Bruce Kulick (KISS, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD)

* Frank Gambale (Session Guitarist, Chick Corea)

* Trev Lukather (Session Guitarist, Steve's son)

* Andy Timmons (DANGER DANGER, Olivia Newton John, Solo)

* Mattias IA Eklundh (FREAK KITCHEN, solo)

* Tim Tucker (United States Marine Band)

* Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck, solo)

* Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, WHITESNAKE, SONS OF APOLLO)

Like on Martin's first solo album, "Bass Invader", which featured Gregg Bissonette, he is again relying on world-class drumming, this time by:

* Christopher Williams (ACCEPT, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley)

* Walfredo Reyes Jr. (Carlos Santana, CHICAGO, Steve Winwood)

* Joe Babiak (Michael Angelo Batio, ATTITUDES & ALTITUDE)

* Gregg Bissonette (RINGO STARR ALL-STAR BAND, David Lee Roth)

Mixing and mastering was done by Frank Motnik (Elton John, ROXETTE, THE DARKNESS, Curtis Stigers, N'SYNC).

Motnik will release the album on his own record label, Kintom Music, and has started a crowdfunding campaign to give fans the opportunity to get their own name attached to the project.

Contributors can get their names in the album credits, and perks range from pre-release mp3s and signed CDs to video shout-outs and one-on-one calls, executive producer credits, a gold record, and ownership of the master files as NFT.

The Indiegogo campaign has already gained momentum and is ending on October 10. It can be found at this location or via www.motnik.com. The page has all info about the project, song excerpts and a two-minute video of Motnik talking about the motivation behind the album.

Born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Motnik has been playing music since he was seven years old and has been a member of several bands, both in Germany and the United States. He was asked by Uli Jon Roth to join him for his 2008 U.S. tour and again in 2009 and 2012. In addition to his musical talent, Motnik also has a Master's Degree in business from the University of Mannheim.

In a recent interview with Vinyl Writer Music, Hoffmann called Motnik "a fantastic songwriter. He really contributed some stuff [to ACCEPT's latest album, 'Too Mean To Die'] that nobody expected because we took him into the band as a player, not so much as a potential songwriter. I mean, you always hope that somebody will and wants to write, but you don't know until you actually start doing it. So, when the songwriting time came, I asked and invited everybody to contribute stuff and Martin really came around."

Motnik stepped into ACCEPT following the 2018 departure of ACCEPT's founding bassist Peter Baltes. Hoffmann told Vinyl Writer Music how Martin came to join the band: "Obviously, he's a different player from Peter and we weren't trying to find a Peter clone or anything, and couldn't expect that. But he's really a tremendous player. We hooked up in Nashville because Martin had heard that Peter had left the band. So he sent us his contact information, and he happens to be a German living in Nashville, which is kind of a rare thing. So, now at least we kept a contingency of Germans in the band, which is good. [Laughs]. But that wasn't the only criteria. Obviously, he's a super-nice guy and his personality really fits well. So, he's an awesome player, a great personality, and a good songwriter. Pretty much all you can ask for. It's great."

KISS's GENE SIMMONS Tests Positive For COVID-19; Four More Concerts Postponed

KISS's GENE SIMMONS Tests Positive For COVID-19; Four More Concerts Postponed

Gene Simmons has tested positive for COVID-19.

The KISS bassist/vocalist's diagnosis comes less than a week after his bandmate Paul Stanley revealed that he had also contracted the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, forcing the postponement of three shows on the group's "End Of The Road" farewell tour.

Earlier today (Tuesday, August 31), KISS released the following statement: "KISS will postpone their next four tour dates. While Paul Stanley recently tweeted that he has recovered from COVID, Gene Simmons has now tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms. The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly."

Postponed shows:

Aug. 26 - Burgettstown, PA @ The Pavilion at Star Lake

Aug. 28 - Raleigh, NC @ Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek

Aug. 29 - Atlanta, GA @ Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood

Sep. 01 - Clarkston, MI @ DTE Energy Music Theatre

Sep. 02 - Dayton, OH @ Wright State University Nutter Center

Sep. 04 - Tinley Park, IL @ Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Sep. 05 - Milwaukee, WI @ American Family Insurance Amphitheater - Summerfest Grounds

When Stanley first tested positive last Thursday, KISS said the whole band and the crew members who are traveling with them on the tour are fully vaccinated.

Members of KISS "and their crew have operated in a bubble independently to safeguard everyone as much as possible at each show and in between shows," the band wrote in the statement.

"The tour also has a COVID safety protocol officer on staff full-time that is ensuring everyone is closely following all CDC guidelines," the statement continued.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Simmons urged fans to get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying: "I would highly recommend for everybody to get two Pfizer or Moderna shots, please — for the rest of us. Even if you believe the Earth is flat, it's not."

KISS kicked off the summer 2021 leg of its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on August 18 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The concert marked the band's first full-length live appearance in front of an audience since March 2020.

KISS's farewell trek was launched in January 2019 and was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022.

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Peter Criss (drums) and Ace Frehley (guitar), KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

We are postponing the next four tour dates. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly.

KISS Frontman PAUL STANLEY: COVID-19 'Kicked My Ass'

KISS Frontman PAUL STANLEY: COVID-19 'Kicked My Ass'

Paul Stanley says that his battle with COVID-19 is over.

The KISS frontman tested positive for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus last week, forcing the postponement of at least three KISS shows.

Yesterday evening (Monday, August 30), Paul took to his Twitter to write: "My COVID symptoms were MILD compared to many others and let me tell you... It kicked my ass. It's over now."

KISS called off its show last Thursday in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania while fans were waiting for the gates to open.

"I had been sick with flu-like symptoms and was tested repeatedly and was negative," Stanley tweeted that day. "As of late this afternoon I tested positive. The crew, staff and band have all tested negative once again."

In a social media post, KISS said the whole band and the crew members who are traveling with them on the tour are fully vaccinated.

On Friday, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons told "TMZ Live" that Paul is "gonna be great because he got vaccinated. He's gonna be fine… Yesterday he started feeling like his voice wasn't up to it and he started feeling a little fatigued. So we always take precautions. And we sent a doctor over, and he said, 'Okay, you may be coming down with something. You guys better just stop.' And that's exactly what we did. And at the right time, as soon as we heard from the doctor, we had paramedics come in from a local hospital and tested the entire crew — the truck drivers, our backstage lineup, the band and everything. Everybody tested negative; Paul tested positive. Now we're quarantining ourselves — all of us; the band, the crew and everybody — for at least five days, just to make sure that we're not carrying it even though we're not experiencing anything. I feel great. We can do shows. My voice is great. Paul is not feeling great. And to be safe for everybody else, we're making sure."

DAVID LEE ROTH Turned Down Offer To Support MÖTLEY CRÜE On 'The Stadium Tour': 'I Don't Open For Bands That I Influenced'

DAVID LEE ROTH Turned Down Offer To Support MÖTLEY CRÜE On 'The Stadium Tour': 'I Don't Open For Bands That I Influenced'

Nikki Sixx says that MÖTLEY CRÜE originally invited VAN HALEN's David Lee Roth to share the bill with them and DEF LEPPARD on "The Stadium Tour" but that David passed. "I don't open for bands that I influenced," the CRÜE bassist says Roth told him, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Back in October 2019, Roth reflected on the influence of VAN HALEN on bands that followed, telling KKLZ's "The Mike & Carla Morning Show": "Hair bands were the imitations of VAN HALEN. Yeah, it is true, and spandex was what they came up with as something visual. I started off in leather, with the same haircut that Bono and [Bruce] Springsteen and the guys in METALLICA had. A famous haircut — if I had that same haircut today, it'd have its own Instagram. But VAN HALEN was a '70s band — we started off in 1972, and our first two albums were in the '70s. We sold our first 10 million records before the '70s were over. We spawned a whole lot of imitators who resorted to gimmickry and trade crap. It's easier to imitate a haircut and a kind of pants and to exhibit bad behavior."

"The Stadium Tour", which also features POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS, was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus crisis.

When it happens, "The Stadium Tour" will mark the CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRÜE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017 — but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.

As of January 30, 2020, "The Stadium Tour" had already grossed $130 million from one million tickets sold, plus another $5 million worth of VIP seats, according to Billboard.

Tickets ranged from $150 to $400, not counting some varied pricing that reflected demand as part of "dynamic pricing."

Roth performed as the opening act for the February/March 2020 North American leg of KISS's farewell tour, but is not making any appearances on the rescheduled KISS shows which kicked off on August 18 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

In March 2020, Roth postponed the final six shows of his Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus pande

Also featured are live versions of "After Hours" and "Sister Ray", Nico's "Chelsea Girls", and the tongue-in-cheek novelty song "The Ostrich" by THE PRIMITIVES, an early band formed by Lou Reed and John Cale.

CHARLOTTE WESSELS Performs New Dutch Song "Afkicken" Live With Former DELAIN Bandmate TIMO SOMERS

CHARLOTTE WESSELS Performs New Dutch Song "Afkicken" Live With Former DELAIN Bandmate TIMO SOMERS

Former Delain singer and songwriter, Charlotte Wessels, is gearing up to release her first solo endeavour, Tales From Six Feet Under, out September 17 via Napalm Records. Below is a live performance of the song "Afkicken" featuring her former Delain bandmate, Timo Somers.

Unable to perform live due to the pandemic, Wessels spent most of last year buried in her Six Feet Under home studio, writing, performing and producing an eclectic wealth of songs. Tales From Six Feet Under offers her favorites out of the bunch. All instruments and vocals on these ten intimate and honest songs were performed or programmed by Wessels herself - except for the exciting collaboration with Alissa White-Gluz on the haunting track "Lizzie" - showcasing the multifaceted nature of Wessels, including her exceptional ability to express the most sincere feelings and emotions within her art.

Charlotte Wessels states: “In May 2020, I started releasing a song every month on Patreon as an outlet for my surplus of music, and tracks I wrote that didn't fit my band. The year that followed was an absolute roller coaster, from living through a global pandemic to closing a chapter so dear to me. It shows through these songs, made right here in my Six Feet Under home studio. Producing these songs with the support of a wonderful community has been a lifesaver during such turbulent times, and I'm happy to bring them out of the basement and into the world with this release. Let me tell you the Tales From Six Feet Under.”

Tales From Six Feet Under is an electrifying collection with gems ranging from melancholic indie pop to synth-infused rock. The record features Wessels’ rendition of Goth classic “Cry Little Sister”, as well as a beautiful synergy of the stunning voices of Charlotte Wessels and Alissa White-Gluz on “Lizzie”. It also debuts a song in Wessels’ native language with the Dutch rocker “Afkicken”. The mesmerizing and haunting “Victor” was released in April this year along with a visually palpable music video. “Soft Revolution” showcases the artist right where the magic happens; in her Six Feet Under studio. The song - part sweet sorrow, part soaring call to action - is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Tales From Six Feet Under will be available in the following formats:

- 1 LP Gatefold Black
- 1 LP Gatefold orange/cream marbled
- 1 LP Gatefold viola/cream marbled (Patreon exclusive)

AVANTASIA Frontman TOBIAS SAMMET On Vocalist MICHAEL KISKE - "As A Fan, I'm So Glad He's Back In HELLOWEEN"

AVANTASIA Frontman TOBIAS SAMMET On Vocalist MICHAEL KISKE - "As A Fan, I'm So Glad He's Back In HELLOWEEN"

Vocalist Michael Kiske is best known as the singer for Helloween - now sharing vocal duties with Andi Deris in the band's expanded line-up - but he has been a member of Avantasia's ever-changing roster of singers since the band's 2001 debut album, The Metal Opera. Avantasia mastermind Tobias Sammet posted the fiollowing words of praise for Kiske on social media this weekend:

"Metal is always supposed to be serious! With Michi Kiske on stage, what a great character, you gotta love him. It never gets boring on stage. And when I am down he cheers me up!

As a fan, so glad he's back in Helloween. That's where he truly belongs, and without 'Eagle Fly Free' and his performance, there would have been none of us kinds of bands. No 'Reach Out For The Light', no 'Babylon', no 'Ghostlights'!

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Share New Single “Reflections Of The Dead”

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Share New Single “Reflections Of The Dead”

A Pale Horse Named Death, the doom metal band led by founding Type O Negative and Life of Agony member Sal Abruscato, have released their new single and accompanying music video for "Reflections Of The Dead". It's the third single taken from the band's upcoming album, Infernum In Terra, which comes out September 24, 2021 via Long Branch Records / SPV.

The music video was directed by Joel Nilsson and assistant director Tony Julien Jelencovich.

Abruscato about the new single:

“For me, this is simply one of the best doom songs I have ever written. Nothing extravagant, just heavy, moody, and dark. It's about a person with deep depression that has the ability to see the dead wherever they look. The gift tortures them, but they're so enamored by it that they want to crossover and join that dimension. Leave behind this cruel raging world!"

Infernum In Terra is the fourth studio album from A Pale Horse Named Death, and has been mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Meat Loaf, Yes, Sepultura, Halford etc.) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering (California,USA) while the artwork was done by Kelvin Doran of Serpent Tusk Studios (Dublin, Ireland).

"The album to me represents a new beginning, turning a new leaf shall we say with the same vibe from past albums but with a fresh open minded approach," says Abruscato. He adds: "There is no real concrete specific concept, it touches on some personal topics in my life long, my interest in the dark arts, that to have light you must have darkness to balance everything. With daylight comes nightfall, with heaven there is hell and at this moment the world seems to be in a very dark place hence the title of the album Infernum In Terra. This is a very dark album, but what else is new I always write dark music to sooth a dark soul!"

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce our first and long-time drummer Björn "Frazer" Schünemann has passed away past Thursday. Björn was an incredible drummer and his remarkable style shaped our early releases just like his personality has shaped our inner circle. Rest in Peace, commander. You will haunt our dreams. Our condolences go out to Björn's family and relatives."
