Hear DAVE MUSTAINE's Voice On JOHN 5's New Song 'Que Pasa'

Hear DAVE MUSTAINE's Voice On JOHN 5's New Song 'Que Pasa'

During his current solo tour, former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist is performing a new song called "Que Pasa". The track, which will be included on John's next studio album, "Sinner", features a guest appearance by MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine.

Regarding how Mustaine came to be involved with the record, John 5 told AL.com: "We had a sample from James Brown, and the record company was, like, 'We can't use that sample. We'll get sued. Who would you want to use?' And I was, like, 'Well, I would love to use Dave Mustaine.' So I reached out and he agreed, and he really liked the song and that'’s gonna be the first video as well. It's called 'Que Pasa'."

John 5 originally shared the news of Mustaine's appearance on "Sinner" in an interview last month with the 95.5 KLOS radio station. At the time, he said: "We have Dave Mustaine doing a little vocal thing. 'Cause we have these little vocal hooks in each song. So it's super cool. And Mustaine did it. And it sounds so good. I love MEGADETH so much, so I was, like, 'Oh my God. We've gotta see if Mustaine will do it.' And he kills it."

Fan-filmed video footage of John 5 performing "Que Pasa" — featuring Mustaine's vocals on a backing tape — at a couple of different stops on his current tour can be seen below.

"Sinner", which is due on Halloween, will also feature a guest appearance by original KISS drummer Peter Criss. John 5, whose real name is John William Lowery, first discussed Criss's involvement with "Sinner" during an appearance on Sirius XM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". He said: "Peter Criss is playing drums on the song 'Georgia On My Mind', which is the last song on the record. And I'm telling you… This guy… Barry Pointer, my producer, flew out to Peter's house, set up a couple of mics. Now, this is a jazz type of song, and Peter is known for that jazz feel he has. I shit you not, he sat behind those drums, played two takes. Barry's mouth was dropped open. Wait till you hear this. I mean, it was perfect."

John 5 continued: "It's something you can't teach, is this feel and this vibe. And he nailed it in two takes. And Barry was, like, 'Well, what do we do now?' It took him, like, literally probably eight minutes. And it was just perfect. He was, like, 'There's nothing else we can do. That was perfect.'"

John 5 has worked with a varied range of artists, performing as guitarist for some of the biggest headlining rock bands in the world such as ROB ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON, as well as playing session with Paul Stanley, Rod Stewart, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and more. Slash has called John 5 "one of the most mind-blowing guitarists around," and Rob Zombie has dubbed him "a fucking shredder." John 5 has released nine solo albums to date, as well as a remix album, and has written music for the likes of Avril Lavigne, GARBAGE, Ricky Martin and others.

JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES' latest album, "Invasion", was released in July 2019.

THE ROLLING STONES To Go Ahead With U.S. Tour After CHARLIE WATTS's Death

THE ROLLING STONES To Go Ahead With U.S. Tour After CHARLIE WATTS's Death

THE ROLLING STONES will go ahead with their previously announced U.S. tour next month despite the recent passing of drummer Charlie Watts.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood will resume the "No Filter" trek in St. Louis on September 26.

A source told The Sun: "The band wants to make the show a celebration of his life. He was like a brother to them but they know he would have hated the thought of them canceling shows. Charlie had given them his blessing to tour without him following his operation, so they will honor his wishes."

Stepping in for Watts on the trek will be his "great friend" Steve Jordan. Jordan previously played with THE ROLLING STONES guitarist Keith Richards.

Not everybody was happy about THE ROLLING STONES' plans to carry on without Watts. On fan tweeted: "Charlie Watts, the drummer for THE ROLLING STONES died. He was 80 years old. They were planning another tour. When your band members start to die of natural cause, maybe you should quit touring." Another user added, "They can and will continue to tour but without Charlie it's not THE ROLLING STONES." "I think THE ROLLING STONES should call it quits. Still tour and play the songs but not as THE ROLLING STONES. Isn't the same," a third fan wrote. "THE ROLLING STONES are scheduled to go on their No Filter Tour 2021. I guess Charlie was the filter," another fan added.

Watts's publicist said that he "passed away peacefully in a London hospital [on August 24] surrounded by his family."

Charlie's death came just weeks after THE ROLLING STONES announced that Watts would be missing several U.S. tour dates while he was recovering from an unspecified medical procedure.

Although Watts wasn't a founding member of THE STONES, he had been with the band since January 1963.

He battled throat cancer in 2004 but got the all clear after undergoing two operati

SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR: METALLICA's 'Master Of Puppets' Is 'The Perfect Heavy Metal Album'

SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR: METALLICA's 'Master Of Puppets' Is 'The Perfect Heavy Metal Album'

Ahead of the release of Corey Taylor's version of "Holier Than Thou" on METALLICA's "Blacklist" album, the SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman sat down with Knotfest.com's Ryan J. Downey to discuss METALLICA, "Holier Than You" and more in a four-part series. Speaking about how METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX shaped his musical identity in the late 1980s and created a sound that defined a generation, Taylor said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "That was the sounding gun for a whole new generation of psychos, because those bands appealed to so many different — I don't wanna say 'cliques,' but so many different crowds. The punk kids loved them, the metal kids worshipped them. It was still too underground for the straights — quote-unquote the straights. But even the alternative kids dug it, because there was so much ferocity in it and there was just something different. It felt heavier than [BLACK] SABBATH and heavier than DEEP PURPLE, but those were the bands that fueled these bands. Between that, and then you could feel that undercurrent of the hardcore scene — the punk scene, the hardcore scene, the stuff that we, the skater kids, were listening to, as well as the hip-hop or whatnot. So this was this burgeoning explosion of attitude, fast music, just in your face, and we just knew as soon as our parents heard it, they hated it, which made us love it even more. Nothing is better than listening to something that scares the hell out of adults."

Taylor went on to call METALLICA's classic third LP "Master Of Puppets" "the perfect heavy metal album. There's no fat," he said. "I mean, you can put it on and listen to the… The only bad thing I can say is that it's too short. Before you know it, it's over, and you're, like, 'Wait a minute,' and you've gotta start it over again. So, it's crazy. It's just a beautiful, beautiful album."

Back in 2017, Corey singled out "Master Of Puppets" as "the greatest modern heavy metal album ever made." He said: "[It is] heavy and yet it's so fucking melodic. It is badass and yet it has moments of pure fucking contemplative cool flow stuff. It is sludgy and yet will rip your fucking head off. And it has the best METALLICA song ever written, 'Disposable Heroes', on it. That fucking song is a clinic, not only in alternate picking, but also down picking. I can't play it, and I can play almost anything. That's how good it is." [The LP has] got some of James [Hetfield's] best performances, and the whole band is amazing on it. And it's got some of his best lyrics on it. You listen to it and you're like, "This is criminal, how fucking good this album is."

Last year, Taylor told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that METALLICA's longevity and career success have offered a "blueprint" that SLIPKNOT will continue to follow in the years to come.

"If there's any band that we absolutely respect… there are a handful of bands, but METALLICA was definitely, they were the high-water mark, man, they were the band to achieve," he said. "That was our [SLIPKNOT's] blueprint, basically. But we took so much from so many different bands as well that it would be unfair to say it was just METALLICA that really guided us. Obviously, they [METALLICA] were… still finding ways to challenge themselves. That's the key. And that's where METALLICA, I really feel, is the blueprint, because they keep finding ways to break new ground, play every continent. They'll be the first band to play Mars, I'm convinced of that."

STONE SOUR's version of METALLICA's "Creeping Death" was featured on the former band's "Meanwhile In Burbank…", a five-song covers EP which was released in 2015.

SHUMAUN Release “Intuition Underground” Single Feat. PAUL GILBERT Drummer THOMAS LANG

SHUMAUN Release “Intuition Underground” Single Feat. PAUL GILBERT Drummer THOMAS LANG

The third single off Shumaun’s Memories & Intuition is the catchy and anthemic rock song “Intuition Underground.” The ninth track on the album features drummer Thomas Lang (Peter Gabriel, Paul Gilbert), and like the rest of the full-length, adds accessible melodies to unusual time signatures resulting in progressive music that is suitable for both listeners who are new to the sub-genre and avid listeners.

Even though the album is very singles-based, it’s meant to be listened to in sequence. There is a natural flow between the songs and lyrics that almost make it feel conceptual. The album theme ties to loss, the current human condition, personal relationships, and the battle of the self. The single stands easily on its own as the band explains:

“The main guitar riff sounds like it could come off a Zeppelin album. It’s a super simplistic pentatonic riff, but it just exudes an attitude that we really liked,” says vocalist/guitarist Farhad Hossain. “There are some tricky time signatures on the song, but luckily the whole thing comes across as a stadium rock song,” adds bassist, Jose Mora. While the song is on the heavier side for Shumaun, it still retains the catchy melodies and big hooks so iconic to the band.

“Intuition Underground” is an easy listen, but that doesn’t mean Shumaun sacrifices creative writing and complexity. With a bridge that alternates between the time signatures of 15/16 and 14/16, the band proves they can maintain a good balance between their technical abilities and their creative writing that shines through, making for an invigorating listen.

Alongside the regular band lineup on this album, Shumaun employs the talents of other legendary drummers Atma Anur (Jason Becker, Tony Macalpine), and Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord). Drummers Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation) and Chris DeChiara also contributed.

ROBLEDO – New Song “The Good Will Rise” Streaming

ROBLEDO – New Song “The Good Will Rise” Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl will introduce Chilean vocalist James Robledo to the international stage with his debut solo album, Wanted Man. The album will be released September 17. Today, fans can get a look at the album with the release of the single, "The Good Will Rise". Listen to the song below, and pre-order/save Wanted Man here.

James was first signed to the label as part of the melodic metal band Sinner's Blood, whose debut album, The Mirror Star impressed listeners with their stunning take on melodic metal. The instrumentation and songwriting were superb and James' voice equally impressed. Frontiers was eager to explore more avenues to work with James and get his powerful vocals wider recognition, thus the idea of a solo album was born. Wanted Man, written and produced with Alessandro Del Vecchio, is a showcase of this wonderful singer's talents.

James Robledo is a Chilean vocalist who comes from a family of musicians with prominent places in the history of Chilean music, with both national and international success. In his youth, he began his foray into metal and rock. In 2004, he was part of the Chilean Band Alternancia who in 2008 took first place in the Talento Crudo Festival (TVN Televisión Nacional de Chile). In 2011, James was invited to be part of Banda Argentina Thabu, with whom he released two albums. In 2016, James left Thabu to take part in the popular TV show The Voice Chile 2, where his participation generated a stir thanks to his outstanding vocal performances.

In early 2017, James joined the band Renegade, with whom he recorded an album which featured a duet with the renowned Chilean singer Ronnie Romero (Lords Of Black, Sunstorm, Rainbow). In 2019, James signed with the Frontiers label as frontman of his new band Sinner’s Blood, which also features the renowned producer, songwriter, and musician Nasson (Chaos Magic). Sinner’s Blood debut album “The Mirror Star” showed his outstanding abilities, positioning him as one of the most prominent new hard rock/metal voices from the entirety of South America.

It is now James' turn to shine completely with his debut solo record, which was written and produced for him by Frontiers’ production guru Alessandro Del Vecchio, who also plays keyboards and bass on the album. André Hilgers (Rage, Silent Force, Bonfire) is on drums and Francesco Marras (Tygers Of Pan Tang) handles guitars. The result is a record with an organic melodic metal sound which showcases Robledo’s soulful vocal abilities. This guy is an absolute star.

This release is a project created, overseen, and directed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records.

ILLUSORY – “A Poem I Couldn’t Rhyme” Lyric Video Streaming

ILLUSORY – “A Poem I Couldn’t Rhyme” Lyric Video Streaming

Greece's prog power Illusory are sharing their new lyric video for the heroic rhapsody “A Poem I Couldn't Rhyme” in support of their third album Crimson Wreath released on May 21 via Rockshots Records.

"This is a song with heavy riffing, a song where vocal lines are almost fighting against guitar and keys themes. However, the whole outcome gives you peace - finally! Based on a nightmare of a story or vice versa, this lyric video is filled with emotions and emphatic images, portraying a story which could easily be never-ending." adds the band.

Having opened for such legendary acts Blue Oyster Cult, Warrel Dane, Geoff Tate, and Gus G, Illusory's new album Crimson Wreath is the next step in their widely praised evolution to follow 2016's Polysllabic (7hard/7us) and 2013's The Ivory Tower (The Leaders Records).

Melodic, riffy, cerebral, and complex Crimson Wreath is a very emotional and melodic release, yet heavy and strong at the same time. Both new fans and ones who have been listening to the band for years will indulge themselves in this latest offering of classic, progressive, epic, and thrashy performances. Lyrical themes found on Crimson Wreath are mostly anti-war, but the full length also includes a thematic unit consisting of three songs that deal with human loss.

"The band is thrilled! When we look back, from the first minute to the last one, from the moment we pressed record on the very first drum takes to the album wrap-up, we can’t stop thinking about all the things we set and done during those long hours of arranging every little album detail. Crimson Wreath has become a member of our discography and our most recent brainchild. And we are totally proud of it!"

STORMWARNING Signs To Frontiers Music Srl; Cover Of JOE LYNN TURNER’s “Endlessly” Streaming

STORMWARNING Signs To Frontiers Music Srl; Cover Of JOE LYNN TURNER’s “Endlessly” Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of Stormwarning, an exciting new South American melodic rock project featuring the outstanding singer Santiago Ramonda. Santiago is joined by the production team of Sergio Mazul (Semblant) and Marcelo Gelbcke (Landfall), the same duo who oversaw the debut album from the amazing Brazilian heavy metal band Icon Of Sin.

Santiago Ramonda is a new singer from Argentina who was put to the attention of the label by Stuart Smith of Heaven & Earth. Santiago started playing guitar in 2007 and later found that he was inclined to try his hand at singing. After several years of self-taught development, the great singer Ivan Sencion started coaching him. Santiago dove into singing and playing live with '80s and '90s rock tribute bands to hone his skills.

In 2020, as a result of a Joe Lynn Turner cover published on his YouTube channel, he began to catch the attention of some influential people in the global rock scene, who eventually brought him to the attention of Frontiers. The label immediately thought to introduce Santiago to Marcelo and Sergio, who are both massive Melodic Rock fans. Coincidentally, the two were just starting to work on a bunch of melodic rock oriented material that they had not settled on a home for yet. The stars therefore aligned and thus Stormwarning was born. The debut album will be recorded in the next few months and released towards the second half of 2022.

"I am very excited to be part of the Frontiers family! It really took me a lot of effort to get to this point. I come from a small place where the conditions for art are not the best, but the passion of being committed to a purpose can break all barriers and schemes,” says Santiago. "I am happy to have signed with a label of this magnitude because with their help I am fulfilling my dream of recording my first professional studio album and making something to leave behind in this world, and especially something that is part of the great family of ROCK. Finally, I want to tell you something that has kept me on this path, and that day by day becomes ever more evident: "Dream big, because everything is possible, and dreams do come true!”

“I’m pretty sure Santiago has the look, the voice and the attitude to be a perfect frontman for a melodic rock project. We are super excited to work with him! Sergio and I have an undeniable chemistry to write songs and now it’s time to navigate into the melodic rock area. We definitely had a boost of confidence and energy after the amazing response of the Icon of Sin album, so we look forward to create many more stuff in the upcoming years - next one being Stormwarning!” says Marcelo Gelbcke.

"I'm very excited to finally release something inside the sphere of Hard Rock / AOR. I'm a longtime fan of icons like Foreigner, Journey, TEN, Dokken, Kenny Loggins, China, and many more names that have been blowing my mind since I was a kid. Side by side with Semblant and Icon of Sin, I think we awakened something huge here. Santiago is a great voice and an extremely talented singer with potential to reach the heights of the genre with his first record. The partnership and brotherhood between Marcelo and me will surely result in something very interesting again and the chemistry of the writing process has being amazing. Prepare yourselves for Stormwarning!" adds Sergio Mazul.

DEVOID Release "Hands Of Salvation" Lyric Video

DEVOID Release "Hands Of Salvation" Lyric Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release French melodic metal band Devoid's second album, Lonely Eye Movement, on October 15. Watch a lyric video for the  track "Hands Of Salvation" below, and pre-order/save the Lonely Eye Movement album here.

"The music was written with Jorris Guilbaud and me and Carsten [Schulz] wrote the lyrics. It's a song about the horror of dealing with depression, trying to make your way through every single day. It doesn't matter at all what others might tell you about what or who you are, the struggle never stops. We wanted to give a melancholic atmosphere to these songs, but we wanted to leave hope at the end," says guitarist Shad Mae of the album's title track.

Of the album's overall sound, Shad continues, "The idea was to achieve the perfect mix between my heaviest influences (Evergrey, Devin Townsend, Soilwork, etc.) and AOR bands I like (Winger, White Heart, Giant, Strangeways, etc.) and to produce an album which is very catchy and timeless."

Devoid's second album overall, Lonely Eye Movement is a huge step forward for the band and the perfect vehicle to introduce them to a larger international audience. Coming four years after their debut album, Cup Of Tears, musically, the band develops the melodic and slightly progressive sound of the debut and makes Lonely Eye Movement perfectly suited for fans of hard hitting, but very melodic metal.

Devoid is the brainchild of French guitarist extraordinaire Shad Mae. Combining technical finesse and outstanding arrangements with extremely memorable choruses and hooks, Devoid is rounded out by powerhouse German vocalist Carsten 'Lizard' Schulz (Evidence One, Book of Reflections), guitarist Gwen Kerjan, keyboardist Jorris Guilbaud, bassist Geoffrey Shob Neau, and drummer Benjamin Lesous.

GHOST BATH Release Official Music Video For "Convince Me To Bleed"

GHOST BATH Release Official Music Video For "Convince Me To Bleed"

Atmospheric black metallers, Ghost Bath, will release their fourth full-length album, Self Loather, on October 29 via Nuclear Blast Records. On the album, the band closes out the trilogy - tragedy, ecstasy, and dread/hatred - and hosts their most devastating and dark music to date.

Today, the band releases an official music video for the first single, "Convince Me To Bleed". Watch below:

Dennis Mikula comments, “'Self Loather' was always a part of my creative vision. I had imagined this final record of the trilogy to be heavier, more devastating, dark, and vicious. It is by far the record most filled with hatred. The three basic human emotions I wanted to capture were tragedy ('Moonlover'), ecstasy ('Starmourner'), and dread/hatred ('Self Loather'). While at the same time, all of these express depression and sorrow. I believe in this record we found our sound. The original title was Sunloather, and though I hate the sun, I found that it did not fit with the theme of everything we were forming. There is something I hate much more than the sun. And so we made the decision to forego the cosmic prefix and replace it with the true nature of this album. Self."

Dark Tranquillity recently announced the departure of drummer Anders Jivarp and bassist Anders Iwers. A message from vocalist Mikael Stanne follows:

"Times have truly changed. This last year and a half has been challenging to say the least, and we've all had time to think over our decisions and motivations in all aspects of life. When removed from what you take for granted, it becomes clear that you realize what is truly important in life. And this is different for everybody.

"Anders Jivarp and Anders Iwers have decided to move on to other things and not be a part of the band anymore. These are two of the most amazing, loyal and dedicated friends and musicians you could ever find and as sad as we are seeing them go, we know that if passion leads you elsewhere you should follow it.

"Anders Jivarp has of course been there from the very beginning, being instrumental in creating the sound that eventually became our own. His songs are some of our most beloved and with the exception of one insane evening in Istanbul 20 years ago he has played every single show since the band's inception. We're excited to hear what will come out of Anders' future musical projects.

"Anders Iwers has been with us for the last six years but since we have known each other from the very early days of the band it felt like he had always been there. He played on our two latest records, not to mention being an integral part of our live shows.

"We love you guys so much and we wish you the absolute best in everything that you do."

AFM Records will release Kreator's Endorama - Ultimate Edition on December 17. A lyric video for the remastered version of "Golden Age" can be found below.

Kreator surely need no introduction to anyone at this point. The Germans were among the distinctive bands who helped to shape and fashion the emerging thrash style in the 1980s. And through such landmark albums as Pleasure To Kill (1986), Terrible Certainty ('87) and Coma Of Souls ('90), they had stamped their own hallmark of quality, passion and aggression, in the process proving here was a special group of musicians.

But not content to merely rest on their laurels and repeat what had already worked, they were now ready to take things to a new level with a record that pushed more into new territory - with the most gothic album Kreator have ever done, as Mille states himself.

Released in April 1999, Endorama is invaluable proof that Kreator were, and remain, metal icons with welcomingly broad and emboldened horizons. Now, over 22 years later, the bold statement that is Endorama gets the ultimate makeover – released as a completely overhauled remaster that adds a whole lot of punch to the sound and shows that this album still stands strong even against modern standards!

BE’LAKOR To Release Coherence Album In October; "Hidden Window" Lyric Video Posted

BE’LAKOR To Release Coherence Album In October; "Hidden Window" Lyric Video Posted

With a discography that includes landmark albums like Stone’s Reach, Of Breath And Bone and Vessels, Australian powerhouse Be'lakor occupies a special place in the hearts and minds of progressive/melodic death metal fans worldwide. For more than fifteen years, the band has been turning heads with their technical yet melodic songwriting. Now, the legendary five-piece teams up with Napalm Records once again to release their new album Coherence (out October 29), proving themselves to be on top of their game with their most ambitious offering yet.

In celebration of this announcement, Be'lakor have released their first official single and video, the massive opus “Hidden Window”, from Coherence. "Hidden Window" is a truly magnificent display of dynamically produced modern progressive death metal, which has rightfully earned Be'lakor more than 20 million streams on Spotify alone, as well as a spot at the forefront of the genre.

Steve Merry (piano/synths) from Be'lakor about Coherence: "We're excited to share this album after five years of quite intense work on it. It's pushed us in many ways. Coherence has two of our longest ever songs; it has some really substantial instrumental tracks; it's heavy and progressive in places, but still full of the melody that drives our work. The album's lyrics also explore quite different ideas to those of our earlier albums. We look forward to working with Napalm Records on this release and sharing this music with our fans!"

Watch the lyric video for “Hidden Window” below.

Be'lakor explore new dimensions of progressive death metal on Coherence. The eight tracks on Coherence display Be'lakor’s impressive spectrum of musical abilities, ranging from the 12-minute-long journey of “Much More Was Lost” to the atmospheric, fully instrumental “Sweep of Days”. Be'lakor are not afraid to focus on extensive, cohesive songwriting, and Coherence is full of details that reveal more and more with every listen of the album. Thanks to the marvelous, larger-than-life mix by none other than Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Leprous, At The Gates among others), Be'lakor are as bold and majestic as ever on Coherence!

Coherence will be available on black 2LP gatefold with etching, as well as limited 2LP gatefolds in gold, silver and white. The exclusive Die Hard Edition of the album will feature a metal plate with the lyrics and a slipmat, and a deluxe wooden box (jewel case) limited edition will include a collector’s coin, wall flag, wrist band and pick set.

LOST SOCIETY Return To Nuclear Blast

LOST SOCIETY Return To Nuclear Blast

Some alliances are just meant to be and today Nuclear Blast happily announce, that the boys are back. After a short excursion with their latest album No Absolution, Lost Society has manifested their very own sound, combining all the grit that has made them respected in the heavy community.

Nuclear Blast simply could not resist getting them back on their roster and continue the laid-out path for making these four youngsters the contenders for the throne of modern metal made in Finland.

Frontman Samy Elbanna states: ”After the release of our strongest album yet, we are beyond stoked to announce our return to the world’s biggest heavy metal label, Nuclear Blast. This past year has been all about writing and perfecting the LxSx sound, and we cannot wait to carry out our massive plans for the future together with the titans of the world of metal music. The next chapter of Lost Society begins now. Be prepared.”

With four albums in total under their belt and tons of stunning live shows, the band has gathered a dedicated fan base. And whoever has seen those guys live, knows the captivating energy they ignite that makes you wanna bang your head off.

Jens Prueter, Head of A&R Nuclear Blast Europe comments: “Welcome back Lost Society! You always meet twice. The Finnish ‘youngstars’ had an amazing start with their first three albums of teenage thrash fury. But I guess it happens at every family that grown-ups want to move out to develop on their own. And that’s what happened to Lost Society. They redefined their style with the latest self-released album No Absolution and found a new, even more successful, direction with a clear vision for greater things to happen. Nuclear Blast Records is more than happy to share their vision and continue working with one of the most promising bands in modern metal. Special thanks to their management team Kristen Mulderig and Jouni ‘Grey Beard’ Markkanen! Let’s raise some hell!”

Gerardo Martinez, General Manager Nuclear Blast USA, adds: “NB is thrilled to see Lost Society return home after an independent stint. Now, armed with a great team behind them, We cannot wait to see them back in North America, as we are more than ready to embark on a successful career with them!”

The band will hit the studio in autumn, once again with Joonas Parkkonen as a producer. Never change a winning team!

THE CULT Cancels All Shows: 'It Is Apparent That The Optimism We Shared In Performing' Live In 2021 Was 'Premature'

THE CULT Cancels All Shows: 'It Is Apparent That The Optimism We Shared In Performing' Live In 2021 Was 'Premature'

THE CULT has scrapped all of its previously announced 2021 shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The band, which spent most of 2019 touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of its "Sonic Temple" album, announced the cancelation in a social media post on Wednesday (August 25).

"THE CULT will regretfully be postponing all upcoming shows for the rest of the year due to the ongoing flux in the world while we continue to adjust to the 'new normal'," the statement reads.

"Our shows are a communal space where we share the celebration of live music. It is apparent that the optimism we shared in the performing of live shows for 2021 was premature. We refuse to put a single fan, whom we love and respect in harms way.

"Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in the Spring of 2022."

This past April, THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy spoke to Tone-Talk about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's new album. The follow-up to 2016's "Hidden City" is being helmed by producer Tom Dalgety, who has previously worked with GHOST and ROYAL BLOOD, among others.

"We've been digging away at that over the last year and a half," Billy said. "We're working with a great young English producer called Tom Dalgety. And, obviously, with the circumstances of the last year or so, it's been a little challenging. But we're making some progress.

"The philosophy in THE CULT camp, really, is about quality, not quantity," Duffy explained. "We don't just need to keep putting out records for the sake of it. Without being ridiculous, we wanna, within a certain realistic time frame, make sure that the records that we put out are as good as they can be. So sometimes that takes a bit longer. And that's kind of where we're at."

He reiterated: "We're well into the process of the new CULT album."

Speaking about THE CULT's songwriting approach this time around, Billy said: "One of the things about THE CULT, I think, that may be worth mentioning is it's always been a collaborative creative effort between me and Ian [Astbury, vocals]. And as you can imagine, like any kind of situation, there's pushing and pulling, and Ian wants to go a certain direction, and I might resist, or I might wanna go a certain direction. And that tension creates [THE CULT sound]. It's not like Ian writes 'Ian songs' and Billy writes 'Billy songs,' and we record them as THE CULT. There are no 'Ian songs' or 'Billy songs' — there are Ian and Billy songs together. And over the time, there's a bit of a creative — it's not always tension; I don't mean that in a bad way. That's what makes it good. It's that blend. We sort of respect each other to the extent that I think there's a trust there, and I think that, after this many years together, and a few years apart, I think we trust each other and respect each other enough.

"I think it's healthy to have creative tension," he continued. "There's nothing worse than walking into a room where nobody's got any ideas. I'd rather have an argument about something creative than to have nothing, just the sound of crickets: 'All right. What are we gonna do now?'

"We see things very differently," Billy admitted. "In a lot of ways, we're very alike. Our birthdays are one year and two days apart. So we're both Taureans. Our birthdays are both coming up very soon. We're very alike in a lot of ways and very different in a lot of ways."

"Hidden City" was released in February 2016 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" was written by Astbury and Duffy and was produced by Bob Rock, who has previously worked with METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

In May 2020, it was announced that THE CULT had inked a deal with Black Hill Records.

The aforementioned "Sonic Temple" album catapulted THE CULT into superstar status and remains their most commercially successful release. It has sold over 1.5 million copies in the U.S. alone and was certified platinum in 1990. It made it to No. 10 on the Billboard charts, and several of the album's songs remain rock-radio staples to this day.

EVERGREY Signs With NAPALM RECORDS

EVERGREY Signs With NAPALM RECORDS

Napalm Records has announced the signing of Swedish progressive metal juggernauts EVERGREY.

EVERGREY is Gothenburg's finest exports, having been commanding the scene for over 25 years and have released twelve full-length records to date — starting with their blistering debut "The Dark Discovery" in 1998. Their latest high-quality offering, the critically acclaimed "Escape Of The Phoenix" (No. 12 on German album chart), was unveiled in early 2021, proving the inimitable ability of the five-piece to harmoniously weave dark lyricism with different shades of heaviness and musical influences. Over the course of time, EVERGREY remarkably managed to build its very own powerful yet emotional sound that reaches the listener deep in their core and creates an exceptional experience with every note.

EVERGREY comments on the signing with Napalm Records: "We are very excited to announce that EVERGREY signed with Napalm Records! Given the success of our recent albums, we feel certain that Napalm have the power that will bring us to the next level. We have lots of exciting news to share soon so stay tuned."

EVERGREY is currently working on new music.

Earlier this year, EVERGREY vocalist/guitarist Tom S. Englund told Metal Talk about the band's plans for the future: "I guess if this [pandemic] drags out for much longer, we will make another album and we will tour on two albums. I think that is the reality of it, but we have a tour that we have postponed three times already and now it is set to start on the 8th of October. But… I don't think it is realistic to think we could do five weeks in Europe and the UK in October. I think it is too early, but I don't wish for anything more, to be honest, because it is heartwrenching to not be able to get an immediate reaction from your fans and that is why you play music."

EVERGREY is:

Tom S. Englund - vocals, guitars

Henrik Danhage - guitars

Rikard Zander - keys

Jonas Ekdahl - drums

Johan Niemann - bass

METALLICA Donates $50,000 To Haiti Earthquake Relief

METALLICA Donates $50,000 To Haiti Earthquake Relief

METALLICA's All Within My Hands foundation has donated $50,000 to Direct Relief's Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

Commented All Within My Hands: "The devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked the nation of Haiti on August 14 has left at least 2,207 people dead, more than 12,200 injured, and over 50,000 homes destroyed. Loved ones remain missing, with little comfort taken as bodies are found. Yet some hope miraculously endures as survivors are discovered alive in the ruin, like the 20 adults and four children — all reported missing — who were recovered and immediately transported to the hospital on Sunday.

"Direct Relief has supported Haitians for nearly 40 years, and this history of work is precisely why All Within My Hands partners with Direct Relief when it comes to disaster relief.

Direct Relief provides emergency assistance after natural disasters around the globe. In Haiti, the nonprofit humanitarian medical organization, based in Santa Barbara, California, is working with a larger coalition of responders, and has begun shipping and equipping prescription drugs, IV solutions, medical backpacks, emergency health kits, and wound care items to responding hospitals in Haiti.

All Within My Hands is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established in 2017 as a way for the METALLICA family to give back to communities that have supported the band. Just in 2020, AWMH donated $645,000 to COVID-19-related relief funds including Feeding America, Direct Relief, as well as to charities assisting those in the entertainment and hospitality industries suddenly without work. More recently, the foundation donated $350,000 to aid those affected by the West Coast wildfires. Finally, the foundation's Metallica Scholars Initiative is now in its third year and has fundamentally improved the earning potential for students who become Metallica Scholars.

METALLICA and All Within My Hands are committed to running an organization of the highest integrity where expenses are kept to a minimum and are paid for entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years and are excited to help in this mission. As always, 100% of proceeds from last November's "Helping Hands" event — tickets, fees and auction items — went directly to help those in need, with METALLICA and the foundation covering all production costs and expen

LIMP BIZKIT Cancels All 2021 Dates, Promises New Music 'Very Soon'

LIMP BIZKIT Cancels All 2021 Dates, Promises New Music 'Very Soon'

LIMP BIZKIT has canceled all of its previously announced live appearances for 2021. The group shared the news less than a month after scrapping more than half a dozen summer shows, explaining in a statement that it was doing so "out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew and most of all the fans."

Earlier today (Wednesday, August 25), LIMP BIZKIT shared the following statement via Instagram Story: "To be more clear, as some promoters are a bit behind on keeping you updated. All of our scheduled performances were canceled weeks ago (yes, we are all fine, thank you). New songs will begin to leak, one after the other in rapid succession very soon. Soon thereafter, our new album will be released."

LIMP BIZKIT was scheduled to appear at several festivals this summer and fall, including Aftershock, Blue Ridge, Rebel Rock and Rocklahoma.

A few days after the summer 2021 shows were called off, LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst told Billboard about the decision: "In short, the system is still very flawed. Even if the performers, crews, staff, and promoters do their best to ensure safety on and behind the stage, that doesn't ensure the safety of the audience as a whole. We are all in this together, and we all — individually and as a whole — have to make our best efforts to be as responsible and proactive as possible moving forward to combat and stop spreading COVID."

Durst also denied that there was a specific incident that prompted him and his bandmates to pull the plug on the trek, saying it was "just perception."

LIMP BIZKIT's tour was called off a day after the band scrapped its concert at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey about an hour before the show was scheduled to begin. No reason for the Stone Pony cancelation was given.

Durst made headlines last month when he debuted his new look at the band's July 29 concert at Metro in Chicago, with the frontman now sporting wavy salt-and-pepper locks accompanied by a horseshoe-style mustache. LIMP BIZKIT also debuted a new song at the event, titled "Dad Vibes".

LIMP BIZKIT has not released a new studio album since 2011's "Gold Cobra", although the band has spent a lot of time writing and recording music over the past decade.

STATIC-X Is Working On 'Project Regeneration Vol. 2'

STATIC-X Is Working On 'Project Regeneration Vol. 2'

STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos has confirmed the band's plan to release the second volume of "Project Regeneration", containing many of the final vocal performances and musical compositions of late STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" lineup of Campos, drummer Ken Jay, and guitarist Koichi Fukuda. Both volumes are being worked on by longtime STATIC-X producer Ulrich Wild.

Asked in a new interview with Pierre Gutiérrez of Rock Talks if there are any STATIC-X gigs coming up in the near future, Campos said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We just announced some stuff for Europe next year. We'll be announcing some more stuff in the coming weeks. And hopefully we can get back on track and finally get volume two out — volume two of 'Project Regeneration'… It's songs built from the remaining demos that we recovered. The goal is to, and the real trick is gonna be to keep it sounding, production-wise, consistent with volume one, so it sounds like one cohesive piece of work instead of two separate albums."

According to Campos, "Project Regeneration Vol. 2", like the first volume, will consist mostly of material created around isolated vocal performances by Wayne Static. "Just one [song on the first volume] was something completely new, that wasn't based on anything," he explained. "It was just, like, 'Ah, just throw that in.' But volume two will have one or two new things, just to fill in the space on the record."

Asked if STATIC-X will carry on as a band even after it completes the touring cycle in support of "Project Regeneration Vol. 2", Tony said: "At this point, it seems like it's something the fans want, and I'm certainly not opposed to it. I still wanna go do other things. Next year, I'll be doing stuff with STATIC and FEAR FACTORY. And this year I'm doing stuff with HAIL THE HORNS. And I just got approached… At the beginning of this week, I got approached by [D.R.I.'s] Spike Cassidy. Apparently, D.R.I. has a tour coming up in a couple of weeks, and their bass player can't make it, so they asked me to fill in. So I'm gonna be playing with D.R.I. It's gonna be September 7th through September 19th out on the East Coast."

In 2019, STATIC-X wrapped up a world tour comprised of nearly 100 mostly sold-out dates in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its platinum-selling debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip". The shows also served as a traveling memorial for Wayne, who passed away nearly seven years ago.

While the identity of STATIC-X's touring singer Xer0 has not been officially revealed, strong rumors suggest that DOPE frontman Edsel Dope is the one performing with Jay, Fukuda and Campos and appearing in all of STATIC-X's promotional videos.

Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.

Static founded STATIC-X in 1994 and achieved commercial success with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which included the rock radio hit "Push It".

The group issued five more studio albums before disbanding permanently in June 2013. Static had been pursuing a solo career at the time of his death.

METALLICA Shares Video Of 1993 Performance Of 'Wherever I May Roam' In São Paulo, Brazil

METALLICA Shares Video Of 1993 Performance Of 'Wherever I May Roam' In São Paulo, Brazil

METALLICA has shared "Wherever I May Roam (São Paulo, Brazil - May 2, 1993)", taken from the "Wherever We May Roam" DVD included in the remastered deluxe box set of its self-titled fifth album — also known as "The Black Album" — due on September 10 via the band's own Blackened Recordings. The track was recorded live at Estádio Palestra Itália in São Paulo, Brazil on May 2, 1993. Check it out below.

The Black Album is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed records of all time. Its 1991 release not only gave METALLICA its first No. 1 album in no fewer than 10 countries, including a four-week run at No. 1 in the U.S., its unrelenting series of singles — "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam" and "Sad But True" — fueled the band's rise to stadium headlining, radio and MTV dominating household name status. The album's reception from the press was similarly charged, building over the years from the top 10 of the 1991 Village Voice Pazz & Jop national critics poll to becoming a constant presence in the likes of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. The album's impact and relevance continue to grow — as proven by one indisputable fact: The Black Album remains unchallenged as the best-selling album in the history of Nielsen SoundScan, outselling every release in every genre over the past 30 years.

To commemorate its 30th anniversary, the Grammy-winning, 16-times-platinum-certified Black Album is receiving its definitive re-release. Remastered for ultimate sound quality, The Black Album remaster will be available in multiple configurations including 180-gram double vinyl LP, standard CD and 3 CD expanded edition, digital, and limited-edition deluxe box set (containing the album remastered on 180-gram 2LP, a picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs (containing rough mixes, demos, interviews, live shows), 6 DVDs (containing outtakes, behind the scenes, official videos, live shows), a 120-page hardcover book, four tour laminates, three lithos, three guitar picks, a METALLICA lanyard, a folder with lyric sheets, and a download card).

Much more than a mere tribute album, "The Metallica Blacklist" celebrates the enduring influence of this musical milestone with one of the most ambitious projects ever conceived by the METALLICA team: An unprecedented 50+ artists spanning an unbelievably vast range of genres, generations, cultures, continents and more, each contributing a unique interpretation of their favorite Black Album cut.

"The Metallica Blacklist" offers up new dimensions of the record whose gravitational pull first drew the mainstream to METALLICA — and provides new insights into the universal and timeless appeal that kept it there: the boundary-smashing influence these 12 songs have had on fans and musicians of all stripes. "The Metallica Blacklist"'s 53 tracks find singer songwriters, country artists, electronic and hip hop artists sharing their love of these songs alongside punk rockers, indie darlings, icons of rock, metal, world music and many, many more… and for 50+ good causes: Profits will be divided evenly between charities of the artist's choice and METALLICA's All Within My Hands foundation.

"The Metallica Blacklist" is a fitting and limitless homage, one that features bands who've shared stages with METALLICA alongside artists who are younger than the original album. It's a truly staggering, at times mystifying assemblage of musicians, dozens of whom have little to nothing in common other than the shared passion for the music that's united them for this album: 1 Album. 12 Songs. 53 Artists. Unlimited Possibilities.

"The Metallica Blacklist" will be available in formats including digital, four-CD and a limited-edition seven-LP vinyl pressing.

All profits from "The Metallica Blacklist" will be split evenly between the All Within My Hands foundation and 50+ charities chosen by the artists who play on the album. All Within My Hands was founded by the band in 2017 as a way for the entire METALLICA family to give back to communities that have supported the band by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

Back in 2017, METALLICA announced that it was preparing deluxe remastered versions of its "…And Justice For All" (1988) and "Metallica" (1991) albums and reached out to its hardcore fans for help to get content for the new editions. "…And Justice For All" has since been reissued for its 30th anniversary in 2018.

METALLICA's self-titled LP in 2014 became the first album to sell 16 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

"Metallica" was already certified 16 times platinum on December 13, 2012 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for shipments in excess of 16 million copies in the U.S.

The album in 2009 surpassed SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 record, "Come On Over", as the best-selling CD of the SoundScan era.

"Metallica" was the first of four collaborations with producer Bob Rock, with whom the band clashed throughout the recording of the disc.

METALLICA performed "the black album" in its entirety at a number of European festivals in 2012.

K.K. DOWNING On Decision To Call His New Band KK'S PRIEST: 'I Can't Let All Of Those Decades Just Be Flushed Down The Pan'

K.K. DOWNING On Decision To Call His New Band KK'S PRIEST: 'I Can't Let All Of Those Decades Just Be Flushed Down The Pan'

In a brand new interview with the "Rock 'N Talk Show", founding JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing once again elaborated on his decision to call his new band KK'S PRIEST, an obvious nod to his former group. His is joined in KK'S PRIEST by former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).

Asked how he came up with the KK'S PRIEST name, Downing said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We went backwards and forwards with that a lot. But for me, really, I consider myself as being a PRIEST since 1969. I was desperate to be in the band JUDAS PRIEST that existed before; I even auditioned for the band and didn't get the job. But I stuck in there. I was thinking, 'I'm determined to be in that [band]. I need to be in JUDAS PRIEST.' And I traversed on that road and that journey, the evolution of music as we know it today. I'm so proud to have been not just a witness to but to be a part of that evolution. And so when this happened, after all of those decades, it's impossible just to have a cutoff point and start again and call the band THE FLYING TORNADOES or something obscure. It just doesn't work. I can't just let the legacy and my heritage and all of those decades just be flushed down the pan. I don't wanna throw it all away. I want to rejoice in it and bring some of all of that magic and that nostalgia into the present and into the future with us. And so I just couldn't really let it go. The guys that are playing in JUDAS PRIEST now, I haven't even met them. And if they can be a PRIEST, well, I can certainly be a PRIEST as well."

Downing also discussed the projected setlist for the KK'S PRIEST shows and whether fans can expect to hear songs from his former band performed live. He said: "Yeah, absolutely. Because we've got that legacy there. Obviously, when Ripper was in the band, we did some great stuff and some fantastic tours. We did a lot of shows. We've got that part of PRIEST to draw from. And some archive stuff that I've kind of always wanted to do. When we did the show in Wolverhampton [England in November 2019] with Ripper, we did songs like 'Before The Dawn' and 'Take On The World', which I'd never played before ever in my career. And so it was a real treat to do that. So we've got things like that we can go forward and do as well. Les [Binks, former PRIEST drummer, who was in the initial incarnation of KK'S PRIEST] is gonna step in and be special guest with us. I spoke with him just yesterday. He just wasn't able to play six or seven hours a day in the studio, but he can play some songs. And that's gonna be great. And I think if somebody wants to step up and special guest with us, 'cause it's all about rejoicing in this wonderful music that's been created and we've been a part of. And let's party with it. Let's get up there and just play some great shows with a selection of great songs."

KK'S PRIEST's debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", will be released on October 1 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records. The LP's first single, "Hellfire Thunderbolt", was released in May. The title track followed in June.

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

Downing's autobiography, "Heavy Duty: Days And Nights In Judas Priest", was released in September 2018 via Da Capo Press.

FOREIGNER's KELLY HANSEN On Touring During Pandemic: 'If I Get Sick, Or One Of Us Gets Sick, The Whole Thing Gets Shut Down'

FOREIGNER's KELLY HANSEN On Touring During Pandemic: 'If I Get Sick, Or One Of Us Gets Sick, The Whole Thing Gets Shut Down'

Singer Kelly Hansen of legendary rockers FOREIGNER recently spoke to George Dionne of Metal Express Radio about what it has been like for him and his bandmates to play live shows again since coming off a year-plus hiatus forced by the coronavirus pandemic

"The fact of the matter is that we tour eight to nine months a year, so there's always a lot [of shows on the calendar]," he said. "But this is the first time that we're back in more than a year and four months. We're in our first full six-week leg, and it's been amazing.

"We had a couple of short kind of warm-up runs, and that was important, because this is a big adjustment — [going from] not doing any shows for that long and now, wow, we're doing an average of five shows a week," he explained. "And it's a big adjustment. I have to say it's something I've actually had to actually think about and work on so that the transition is okay. There's a lot of things that have to be reworked, and the muscles have to be restrengthened. And it's not a quick process."

As for how it has been trying to stay safe while performing in front of large crowds while the pandemic is still raging, Kelly said: "We're having to be very strict with our own backstage bubble and our own bubble, because no matter how you feel about COVID, the fact of the matter is that we're a touring entourage of approximately 25 people that are interfacing with different hotel staff, travel staff, airport staff, venu staff. So we interact with more people than the normal person. And if I get sick, or one of us gets sick, the whole thing gets shut down. So we're just doing as much as we can to be as safe as possible and protect ourselves. And so far — knock on wood — we're doing okay."

FOREIGNER played its first pandemic-era concert on May 19 at the Frontyard Festival in Orlando, Florida. The concert marked the band's live debut with guitarist Luis Maldonado, who joined FOREIGNER as the replacement for longtime multi-instrumentalist Thom Gimbel.

FOREIGNER's last album, "Can't Slow Down", was the only full-length collection of new songs to have been released by the band since Hansen took over vocals after original singer Lou Gramm left the band for good in 2002. The album entered the Billboard Top 30, driven by the radio singles "In Pieces" and "When It Comes To Love". The band also has released a series of live albums and compilations, including 2016's "In Concert: Unplugged" and 2017's "40".

FOREIGNER's current lineup is rounded out by founding guitarist Mick Jones, Jeff Pilson (bass), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Chris Frazier (drums) and Bruce Watson (guitar).

SEX PISTOLS' JOHN LYDON Loses Legal Battle To Stop Band's Music Being Used In New Biopic Miniseries

SEX PISTOLS' JOHN LYDON Loses Legal Battle To Stop Band's Music Being Used In New Biopic Miniseries

SEX PISTOLS frontman John Lydon has lost a legal battle over the right to use the band's songs in the upcoming biopic miniseries about the U.K. punk legends.

"Pistol" is a six-episode series about SEX PISTOLS guitarist Steve Jones. It is based on Jones's 2018 memoir "Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol" and it is being helmed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle, who serves as executive producer and director.

Jones and former SEX PISTOLS drummer Paul Cook have argued in court that an agreement they signed with Lydon meant decisions regarding licensing requests could be determined on a "majority rules basis."

Lydon, for his part, that the bandmember agreement had not been applied since it was signed more than 20 years ago and that "all decisions" about the use of SEX PISTOLS music and imagery had been made with "unanimous" agreement.

However, a judge ruled on Monday that the contract was valid and active, and that the majority of the band could overrule any individual member's veto.

The judge, Sir Anthony Mann, also pointed out that Lydon "had actually signed away his power to control the use of music rights" to publishing and music companies such as Warner Chappell Music and BMG.

Lydon retained "only qualified rights of approval which could be overridden if he was being unreasonable", the judge said.

"It may be that those companies, for their own reasons, chose to seek his permission from time to time, but ultimately they could act as they saw fit."

In a joint statement after the ruling, Jones and Cook told the Press Association: "We welcome the court's ruling in this case. It brings clarity to our decision-making and upholds the band members' agreement on collective decision-making.

"It has not been a pleasant experience, but we believe it was necessary to allow us to move forward and hopefully work together in the future with better relations."

Last month, Cook told the court that he and the other members of SEX PISTOLS had "always wanted to work harmoniously" but were forced to file a lawsuit against Lydon in order to make it possible for the group's music to be used in the TV show. He added that Lydon "can be a difficult character and always likes to feel that he has control" and explained that the "majority rules agreement" was never used before because "I thought that our relationship with John would get worse when we used it".

"Maybe Steve and I have been too nice to John over the years in trying to maintain good relations and that we should have been tougher," he said.

"I am unhappy that he would behave like this over an important personal project for Steve, particularly as we have always backed his personal projects."

In April, Lydon reacted to publicity shots promoting "Pistol", telling The Sunday Times: "I think that's the most disrespectful shit I've ever had to endure. I mean, they went to the point to hire an actor to play me but what's the actor working on? Certainly not my character. It can't go anywhere else [but court]."

Lydon also claimed that he has never been contacted by Boyle about "Pistol" even though the two had met during preparations for the 2021 London Olympics opening ceremony.

He added: "Sorry, you think you can do this, like walk all over me — it isn't going to happen. Not without a huge, enormous fucking fight. I'm Johnny, you know, and when you interfere with my business, you're going to get the bitter end of my business as a result. It's a disgrace."

A spokesperson for the "Pistol" production told The Sunday Times that Boyle reached out to Lydon's management company about the planned series but "ultimately direct contact was declined."

"Pistol" was created by Craig Pearce and written by Pearce and Frank Cottrell Boyce.

Jones, Boyle and Pearce serve as executive producers alongside Gail Lyon, Anita Camarata, Tracey Seaward, Paul Lee, Hope Hartman and Wiip. The series is produced by FX Productions.

Anchored by Jones's memoir, which offers a fascinating new perspective on one of rock's greatest ever stories, "Pistol" moves from West London's council estates, to Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's notorious Kings Road SEX shop, to the international controversy that came with the release of "Never Mind The Bollocks", which is frequently listed as one of the most influential albums of all time. Their single "God Save The Queen" was banned by the BBC and reached No. 1 on the U.K.'s NME chart, but appeared at No. 2 on the official U.K. singles chart, leading to accusations that the song was purposely kept off the top spot. For the only time in chart history, the track was listed as a blank, to avoid offence to the monarchy.

"Pistol" stars Toby Wallace ("Babyteeth", "Acute Misfortune") as Steve Jones, Anson Boon ("Crawl", "1917", "Blackbird") as John Lydon, Louis Partridge ("Enola Holmes", "Medici") as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, Fabien Frankel ("The Serpent", "NYPD Blue") as Glen Matlock, Dylan Llewellyn ("Derry Girls") as Wally Nightingale, Sydney Chandler ("Don't Worry Darling") as Chrissie Hynde, Emma Appleton ("The Witcher", "Traitors") as Nancy Spungen, and Maisie Williams ("Game Of Thrones") as punk icon Jordan

JOHN 5 Says Unreleased DAVID LEE ROTH Song About VAN HALEN Is 'Really Something Special'

JOHN 5 Says Unreleased DAVID LEE ROTH Song About VAN HALEN Is 'Really Something Special'

Last fall, David Lee Roth included five previously unreleased songs in The Roth Project, an online comic narrated by the legendary VAN HALEN singer, with music from John 5 on guitar and bass, Greg Bissonette on drums, Brett Tuggle on keyboards, and Luis Conte on percussion. The tracks "Giddy-Up!", "Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar And Grill", "Alligator Pants", "Lo-Rez Sunset" and "Manda Bala" were recorded several years ago at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.

"People really like those songs, so I'm super happy about it," John 5 told AL.com in a new interview. "Because listen, you can't deny a good song and Dave writes good songs. He's written some of the most amazing songs of our lifetime, and Dave worked really hard on these lyrics. I'm not sure when it's going to come out or if it'll come out, but I hope it does.

"There's one I'll tell you about called 'Nothing Could Have Stopped Us', and it's unbelievable," he continued. "Being a VAN HALEN fan and a Dave Lee Roth fan, it's unbelievable because it's about Dave singing about VAN HALEN and what it was like. Really something special, so I really hope that comes out."

Asked if the rest of the unreleased David Lee Roth record in the same vein as the songs that have come out, which have a singer/songwriter sound, John 5 said: "He wanted to do this kind of a more California sessions type of thing. And he's such an artist, I was, like, 'Whatever you want to do, I'm there for you.' So it is that kind of vibe. But there's a lot of multi tracks and different acoustic parts that all work together. It's kind of orchestrated, if you will."

John 5 got his first big break playing on Roth's solo album, "DLR Band", before landing stints with Marilyn Manson and now Rob Zombie. His latest sessions with the iconic VAN HALEN frontman apparently took place at least seven years ago, with John 5 unveiling a snippet of the album during an interview with Masters Of Shred back in May 2019.

Two years ago, Roth was asked by Meltdown of the Detroit radio station WRIF if his LP with John 5 will be made available at some point. He responded: "It will. There's been a revision of things, and I can start making real plans and start marching into the future. And, of course, you'll start hearing that material. This is material that we wrote variously for me solo and for VAN HALEN, and it's quite a bank of stuff."

Roth, who was promoting his Las Vegas residency at the time, didn't offer a possible time frame for the release of the record, explaining that his priority was "getting out on the road first. Let's see the band, let's show ourselves off, let's travel all over the world."

Back in 2015, John 5 told Guitar Player magazine that the sessions for his latest Roth album were remarkably relaxed. "I would just go to his house and I'd write these songs with him, and he would say, 'Let's go into the studio,'" John 5 explained. "So he would go to Henson studio and record these songs. They came out… They're so good. They're so good. And we've got Gregg Bissonette playing drums on it, and I played the bass, and they're really great songs."

The guitarist said that Roth's vocals on the album sound "like nothing you've ever heard. It's old VAN HALEN — sounds like 'Could This Be Magic?' or anything like that. It's just that sound, that tone."

In a 2014 interview, John 5 described the LP as "11 of the greatest songs you'll ever hear, and it's just me and Dave, and we had Gregg Bissonette play drums on it. And it's unbelievable," he said. "You know, just great, great songs."

In March 2020, Roth postponed the final six shows of his Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Roth performed as the opening act for the February/March 2020 North American leg of KISS's "End Of The Road" farewell t

DAVE MUSTAINE Explains Why He Was So 'Jealous' Of METALLICA's Success

DAVE MUSTAINE Explains Why He Was So 'Jealous' Of METALLICA's Success

In the latest episode of "Icons", Gibson TV sits down with MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine. In this hour-long intimate look into his musical journey, Dave lets viewers in and shares very personal stories about his childhood, his time with METALLICA, and the enduring legacy of MEGADETH. Rare photos and footage from Dave's storied career and tumultuous life paint a picture of a man who has overcome so much and yet never, ever lost his absolute love of playing guitar and creating music.

Recalling how he spent the bus ride back from New York to California after being fired by METALLICA in 1983, Mustaine said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The ride home from New York was long. I knew it was gonna be long. The ride out [to New York] was long. The ride out was dangerous," he said, referencing the incident when METALLICA almost died in Wyoming while traveling cross-country en route to meet Megaforce Records founder Jonny Zazula in New Jersey. "The ride out was bad. Because of the crash in Wyoming, I think that that's what made me the guy that had to go. And I don't know. I probably was destined to leave before that because of, you know, the word 'destiny' and the fact that there was just so much talent and so much personality between the four of us. I don't know that we could have survived. There was destined to be some kind of an explosion at some point.

"Leaving METALLICA, a lot of the things that they did, watching them have their success, it could have been anything," he continued. "They could have quit metal and started making Twinkies and I would have been jealous because we were friends and then, all of a sudden, we're not friends anymore. And all I know is that I wanna keep doing what we're doing together because we make people happy and the four of us get to drive around like we're something special. And I never felt special before in my life until now. But we have this guitar, we've got this band, and now I feel like I'm somebody.

"I'm glad to say that our friendship today is so much different from that moment, those moments, those days, those times, those people," Mustaine added. "We're all different. We're dads. We're older now. And I think that probably was the most shocking and hardest thing to tolerate or to accept at the end, was that when the band stopped, I kind of felt like I stopped. I know that's not true. But what's a young kid at the time to think. I had no mentors, I had no one talking [to me through] my life and saying, 'You're gonna get through this, and you're gonna be so much happier for it.'

"I did a lot of soul searching on the way home," he said. "Did I wanna play guitar? Did I wanna keep doing this? 'What am I gonna do? I got it. I'm gonna make a band that's more metal than METALLICA. And I need to come up with a name that's more metal than a band that has 'metal' in their name. So what can I come up with?' And I just figured, 'Well, I'll wait for that for a little bit.' And I started writing lyrics."

In a 2009 interview with Norway's Lydverket, Mustaine said that he was "so hurt" by getting kicked out of METALLICA for allegedly drinking too much. "I said, 'What?! No second chance, no warning? C'mon, we all drink. C'mon.'" he recalled. "And [they were like], 'No, that's it. You're gone.' And I was like, 'All right.'"

Mustaine also went on to claim that an altercation with METALLICA frontman James Hetfield led to his being fired from the band.

"I was selling pot," Dave said. "When I would go play in concert, people knew that my pot was sitting in my apartment just saying, 'Go ahead and keep me company.' So I was broken in on. People stole everything that I had; all my stash. And I figured, screw this. I'm gonna get some dogs to stay in the apartment when I leave. So I got two dogs and I took one of them up to a rehearsal one time and she put her paws up on Ron's [McGovney, METALLICA's then-bassist] car. And James kicked it right in the side. And I was like, 'What did you do?' [And I was like] 'It's a dog, it's what they do. You don't kick animals.' So we went into the house, and we started arguing some more. And I ended up punching him in the face and I think that was the root of why I lost my job."

In a 2009 interview with the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks, Hetfield said that it was "so odd" to hear Mustaine still talking about his exit from METALLICA. "It is very Dave, and that's him," James said. "And no matter what band he was in or whatever... I mean, Dave is not in this band for a reason, and this is the reason. It's super-simple. He was in the band for 11 months and it goes on and on and on and on and on. I don't know any other band on this planet that there was a member in the band for a short amount of time and they've still got this big chip on his shoulder. It's insane.... You know what?! He's in love, and that's fine, 'cause we love him back."

Back in 2016, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told the "Word Of Wheeler" podcast that he understood Dave's continued resentment toward his former bandmates over the way he was dismissed from the group. "I've always seen Dave as someone who was just really, really sad, really angry, really frustrated about his situation with METALLICA, and he never could let that go," he said. "And, you know, I've always shown a lot of empathy for him, understanding that he was just pissed off. It's the equivalent of the woman of your life leaving you. I mean, really. When your band kicks you out… I've never been kicked out, but I can imagine it's a horrible experience, especially if it's a band that you feel really passionately about. So I can understand Dave's plight over all these years. But I will also say that when we did these 30th-anniversary shows at the Fillmore [in San Francisco], and we invited Dave to play on all those 'Kill 'Em All' songs, man, it felt so good to have him playing on stage. It felt perfectly fine for me to, while Dave was playing the guitar solos, for me to go over to James and play the rhythm parts with James, and it wasn't a big deal at all. And I could see from the look on Dave's face and just from his whole attitude that it was super-cathartic for him. And I could see how it was helping him. And so I just took it all in stride. And it's interesting, because since then, I think, Dave's relationship with us is a little bit better now. I'd like to think that that whole thing just kind of healed some scars that needed to be healed."

After Hammett's comments about Mustaine were reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET and other music sites, Dave took to his Twitter to respond. He wrote: "I have tremendous respect for @KirkHammett and I appreciate his take on this. he is almost 100% accurate...almost. I wish him the best."

In a September 2011 interview with Artisan News, Mustaine appeared to concur that his onstage reunion with METALLICA went a long way toward healing the wounds from the way his tenure in the band ended. Dave said: "When we [played a cover of DIAMOND HEAD's] 'Helpless' [as part of a 'Big Four' jam] one night, I walked over to say hello to Kirk on the stage and he said, 'Do you wanna take the solo?" and I said, 'Yeah.' [Laughs] But we forgot to tell anybody on the stage or [running] the sound out front that I was gonna do the solo, so the song's playing along and Kirk's playing rhythm full blast, and I'm sitting there going you can't hear what I'm doing. At least we knew what had happened. It was kind of a symbolic passing of the torch back to me and it was a nice gesture. I think that that helped Kirk and my relationship improve a bit."

In a September 2004 interview, Mustaine famously stated, "I really don't care about Kirk — he stole my job, but at least I got to bang his girlfriend before he took my job. How do I taste, Kirk?"

Mustaine did not play on any METALLICA albums and did not attend their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2009.

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich later explained to The Plain Dealer that Mustaine was not included because "you've got to kind of cap it somewhere. Dave Mustaine never played on any METALLICA records. No disrespect to him. But there [were] half a dozen other people that were in the lineup in the early days. We thought . . . the fair thing to do would be to include anybody that played on a METALLICA record." He added: "Dave Mustaine was in the band for 11 months, predominantly in 1982... I'm not trying to play it down. I have nothing but respect and admiration for his accomplishments since."

STONE SOUR Guitarist JOSH RAND: 'EDDIE VAN HALEN Was More Of An Influence On Me As A Keyboard Player'

In a recent interview with Guitarguitar, STONE SOUR's Josh Rand was asked if legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen was an influence on his playing. He said: "Well, here's the thing: not on guitar. Eddie Van Halen was more of an influence on me as a keyboard player, okay? [Laughs] Don't get me wrong: I'm sure everyone who reads this is gonna say, 'What the fuck is he talking about?' Eddie Van Halen, as a guitar player, is obviously on Mount Rushmore, hands down. Not only for technique — as an innovator, everything. I hold him at a high standard. But for me, he influenced guys that influenced me. That's really what it comes down to. It's like [Jimi] Hendrix. I love Jimi and I have massive respect [for him]. He's influenced everyone who's come after him on guitar for rock, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's my top choice in who I enjoy listening to. That's in no way meant as disrespectful."

He continued: "I like [the Sammy Hagar-fronted version of VAN HALEN] better than [the David Lee Roth-fronted one]. And also, with that being said, I will also say I consider them two different bands. I consider the David Lee Roth-fronted one to be a rock band that's about having a good time. The Sammy Hagar era, to me, became almost like adult contemporary, and it's also just the songwriting as a whole and the production is better. But like I said, that's just my opinion and I like both bands equally. If I was to learn more towards one, it's, like, sorry, but Sammy Hagar is a great singer. [Laughs] Sorry, Dave. I'd rather have Dave as, like, a talk show host. It would be so fucking entertaining, because his personality is so over the top and his persona's just... Let's put it this way: the guy does not lack confidence… But that's what everybody loves about him, you know?"

Rand is currently promoting the debut EP from THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT, his collaborative project with songwriter and vocalist Casandra Carson.

STONE SOUR has been off the road and out of sight since completing the touring cycle for its latest album, "Hydrograd". Singer Corey Taylor has been working with SLIPKNOT since then, recording and touring behind that group's sixth effort, "We Are Not Your Kind", as well as making his solo album, "CMFT"
