US metal legends, Vicious Rumors, have released a new single and video for "Asylum Of Blood", taken from their new album, Celebration Decay, out now. Watch the clip below.

The album was recorded and mixed between November 2019 and February 2020 at the Trident Studios in Pacheco, California, by Geoff Thorpe and Juan Urteaga.

LINDEMANN, the project featuring vocalist Till Lindemann of German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN and Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), has called it quits.

Earlier today, the following statement was posted on the LINDEMANN social media: "As Till Lindemann and Peter Tägtgren confirm today, the two artists have ended their collaboration on the project 'Lindemann'. Both will be pursuing their own plans in the future.

"Lindemann and Tägtgren are currently working on a final joint release, a live DVD of their show in Moscow 2020, which will be released in spring 2021.

"Till Lindemann will be active under the name 'Lindemann' within a new set up in the future."

LINDEMANN's second album, "F & M", was released in November 2019. The follow-up to 2015's "Skills In Pills" was once again produced and mixed by Tägtgren.

"Skills In Pills" reached gold status in Germany and was entirely in English. On the second opus, Lindemann went back to singing exclusively in German.

A year ago, Till told Kerrang! that there was a good chance LINDEMANN would work on a third album. "Actually, Peter wrote a really good instrumental that's waiting for lyrics," he said. "So the door is open already."

On the topic of "F & M", Till revealed that it was originally intended for the stage.

"We were writing for the theater originally, writing three songs for the director of a production of 'Hansel And Gretel', by the Brothers Grimm," he said. "It was a perfect topic [for us] — morbid and brutal but very romantic. We were writing music on demand to fit with the piece, and so, of course, the lyrics were in German, because the theater company was based in Hamburg. It was fun."

Tägtgren told Australia's Heavy that there was no shortage of ideas for LINDEMANN's second album. "We are constantly writing," he explained. "The Internet is a really big help. Till will have an idea and send it to me on SMS or whatever, and I kind of trigger off that and start writing a song off that. Or sometimes it is the other way — I have an idea and send it to him and he triggers Till. Today that is easy. Then we catch up and do the vocals in my studio, so there was a few trips to do this album. He flies in from Berlin — that's like one hour on the plane and then two hours on the train — and he is at my place. There are always gaps here and there though… when you have to take a break to have a shower or brush your teeth… but we come back."

LINDEMANN embarked on its first tour in support of "F&M".

The band had received some criticism due to its use of pornography during its second album cycle, with the music video for "Platz Eins" described by one site as "full-on art porn — slick and stylish, weird and experimental, and definitely X-rated."

In a new interview with "Rockin' Metal Revival", Rob Halford was asked if there are any JUDAS PRIEST songs he hasn't performed live that he always wanted to. He responded (hear audio below): "Oh, yeah. I've always wanted to do the title track of 'Rocka Rolla'. It's a song that Glenn [Tipton, PRIEST guitarist] wrote. It's a great tune, isn't it? And I don't see any reason why we can't do that.

"There are a few more," he added. "I'll keep 'em under [wraps], 'cause I don't wanna give any things away. But this planned 50th-anniversary tour is gonna be something special. So we'll definitely be digging deep into the PRIEST catalog and pull out songs that we've never played before."

Last December, Halford told Milwaukee's 102.9 The Hog radio station that PRIEST will definitely play some rarely performed songs during the 50th-anniversary trek. "All the way from 'Rocka Rolla' to 'Firepower'," he said. "The thing about our show is we take you on a journey with our music through the decades. It's all about dynamics and presentation and production. So, we've got that. We've been building this for quite a while, and more likely than not, we'll be pulling out some songs that we've never, ever played before, which gives the show an extra kick. But it's gonna be a great show, a great tour. Fifty years of JUDAS PRIEST — I can't wait."

Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of JUDAS PRIEST. Halford joined JUDAS PRIEST in 1973 and Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then returned to PRIEST in 2003. Founding guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Richie Faulkner.

A month before the start of PRIEST's "Firepower" tour, Tipton bowed out due to the worsening of his Parkinson's disease, first diagnosed six years ago (after being stricken by the degenerative condition at least half a decade earlier). His spot in the band is being filled by "Firepower" album producer Andy Sneap.

Last year, Hill was asked by Austin Chronicle whether he feels like the last man standing in PRIEST. "Em, not really, only when people mention it," he laughed. "I mean Rob, obviously, and Glenn still counts as well, although he's not doing a great deal of live work. He's always there, and of course Scott [Travis, drums] has been with us since 1989. And even Richie Faulkner , this is his ninth year. So, it's a fluid current, if you know what I mean. So, no, I don't feel like the last man standing, or anything like that."

Downing said in October 2018 that all of PRIEST's living former and current members should be involved in the group's upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS will release its new album, "Death By Rock And Roll", on February 12, 2021 via Fearless Records in the U.S. and Century Media Records in the rest of the world. The latest single from the effort, "25", can be streamed below.

"'25' is an interesting song that came from a lot of different places," singer Taylor Momsen says. "It was the first song we recorded for the record in early 2019. I had just turned 25 when we wrote it. In a way, it's an autobiography and hopefully shows that this album really ventures out into new territory with the music."

"Death By Rock And Roll" is THE PRETTY RECKLESS's first album to be made without longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died in April 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

A few months ago, Momsen confirmed that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello guests on "Death By Rock And Roll". Morello appears on a track called "And So It Went".

Morello joins previously announced guests Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron from SOUNDGARDEN. The song with Cameron and Thayil, called "Only Love Can Save Me Now", was recorded at Seattle's legendary London Bridge Studios, where seminal LPs like PEARL JAM's "Ten" and SOUNDGARDEN's "Louder Than Love" were laid down.

Momsen told Forbes about "Death By Rock And Roll": "We worked really hard on this album and we went through a lot of loss, a lot of tragedy, and we really poured our hearts and souls into it and in a way I can't express verbally. It's all there in the music, so that's why I say it feels like a rebirth. It almost feels like the first record in a sense, because we really had to go back to the beginning after losing Kato, our producer. I'm just really excited for people to hear it because, in my opinion, it's the best album we've ever made so it's hard to sit on this music.

"We talked about holding the song 'Death By Rock And Roll' for longer too, and I was, like, 'I can't do this. I can't just sit on this album forever.' The world needs music and music has such a healing thing to it, and it saved my life, time and time again. If we put out a song and if it can put a smile on some people's faces, great, we'll take it from there. That's kind of what we're doing — we're riding the wave. This is just such an unprecedented time so we're trying to take it step by step, and see where things go. Everything is still up in the air, but we are planning on releasing more singles before the full album is out. There's going to be more music to come."

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor played a private, socially distanced, secret show on November 5 in the Los Angeles area. Five lucky winners were selected to attend, with each winner also getting to bring a guest.

The event was part of an effort to generate donations for the the Sweet Relief COVID-19 Fund. Fans hoping to attend the show were asked to make a $5 donation (or more) to enter for their chance to win.

On Thursday (November 12), Corey uploaded a video recap of the event, and he included the following message: "Unbelievable feeling being back in front of a crowd, even if it was only 12 people! Last week's socially distanced secret show in LA was a blast. We played live music again and raised money for @sweetreliefmusiciansfund. Thanks to everyone who donated and thanks to our winners who made it out for the special night."

Corey's debut solo album, "CMFT", was released on October 2 via Roadrunner Records. Taylor recorded the effort with his band consisting of Jason Christopher on bass, Dustin Schoenhofer on drums, and Zach Throne and Christian Martucci (STONE SOUR) on guitar. The LP was completed at Kevin Churko's The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER and STONE SOUR, among others.

"I love what I've done in the past, I love the projects that I've been attached to, but this, honestly, was probably the most enjoyable album that I've done since the first SLIPKNOT album," Corey told Kerrang! magazine. "There was such a sense of, 'We're doing it together.' I hadn't felt anything like that for a really long time, man. People grow apart, relationships become fractious… people stop liking each other sometimes, in certain bands, you know? But with this, it was totally different, because we were all friends before that. We just happened to all play together, and then we formed a band around that friendship, and it all really galvanized it."

Earlier in the year, SLIPKNOT canceled all of its previously announced summer 2020 tour dates, including the "Knotfest Roadshow", Knotfest UK and Knotfest At Sea, due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

Dee Snider and HALESTORM's Lzzy Hale have teamed up for their thoroughly rock 'n roll rendition of the Snider-penned holiday classic "The Magic Of Christmas Day". This version features lots of bells, rowdy riffs, and the two iconic vocalists playing off one another for an unforgettable offering. This festive and fiery duet is sure to find itself on repeat on the Christmas playlists of rockers, rollers, and headbangers everywhere this holiday season.

This past August, Snider said during an appearance on the "Behind The Vinyl" podcast that he was recording a new version of "The Magic Of Christmas Day" with ex-NIGHTWISH frontwoman Tarja Turunen.

Dion reportedly heard "God Bless Us Everyone" from a sound engineer and wanted to record it for her first Christmas album, 1998's "These Are Special Times". Snider gave his blessing, but he asked that nobody reveal his identity, because he feared Dion would change her mind if she discovered the man behind the tune was a controversial rocker. The song, retitled "The Magic Of Christmas Day (God Bless Us Everyone)", went on to sell 10 million copies worldwide. The album credit reads D. Snider.

The next year, Dion and Rosie O'Donnell redid the song as a duet on Rosie's Christmas album and opened O'Donnell's Christmas special on ABC with it.

Arizona thrash metal veterans FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have announced Bill Bodily (CONTRARIAN, ex-INHUMATUS, ex-TOXIK) as the band's new bass player. Before joining FLOTSAM AND JETSAM on a permanent basis, Bodily filled in for former bassist Michael Spencer during many shows of the group's "Tour Of Chaos" in 2019.

Commented Bodily: "Joining FLOTSAM AND JETSAM is an honor as well as a huge step up in my musical journey. I've been friends with the guys for many years, and I'm a lifelong FLOTSAM fan. I look forward to the many adventures ahead and getting more acquainted with the legendary Flotzilla fans!"

VIMIC frontman Kalen Chase has released the official music video for his new solo single, "Let Them Come".

Kalen stated about the track: "'Let Them Come' started last year in Nashville when I was tinkering around on my guitar. I tuned my guitar down really low until I got this cello-like sound and my brother Nick Morris — whom I collaborate with a lot — went, 'What is that?' to which I responded, 'I don't know, but I think it's good…' So, the riff for 'Let Them Come' happened first, and immediately I thought it had to have a chant. I started humming and eventually that turned into 'say bye bye to the old ways, old ways.' The entire song came from this and we pieced it together like Frankenstein.

"The whole concept for 'Let Them Come' is that there's the young, the old, the new; there are inherent rights and wrongs, but time is always changing. We're always evolving, but the one constant is that we're all mostly ridiculous. Life can be pretty comical. If an army of youth and reason tramples us all and we're all turned to dust, it will still be hilarious. So 'Let Them Come': don't take life so seriously. It's about poking fun at, and honoring, everyone."

Chase is a rare breed. Born in Southern California and growing up in Washington state until his dream of becoming a lumberjack were dashed to the ground, this singer, songwriter, guitar-player, and producer has toured the world with several major performing acts.

In 2006, Kalen joined KORN on tour, primarily on backing vocals, and can be heard and seen in the "MTV Unplugged (Live)" release in 2007 where he was featured playing an exotic array of instruments. He remained with KORN — often seen as The White Rabbit — until 2008.

While working with KORN, Kalen fronted the band THE CHANGING, where he collaborated again with Jonathan Davis on single "Jerry Bruckheimer". His career in metal would continue as the lead vocalist for the band SUPERFIX, before joining forces with Joey Jordison (formerly of SLIPKNOT) as the lead vocalist for VIMIC in 2016.

Now, Kalen has embarked on a new path, building upon his singer-songwriter roots, hard rock persona, and production experience to create a sound of his own.

Ticketmaster has clarified a report that claimed the company was working on a plan to use smart phones to verify whether customers have been vaccinated or tested for coronavirus in preparation for a potential return to live events.

Billboard's original report indicated that the process would involve fans using the Ticketmaster app in partnership with medical information firms and vaccine and testing distributors. After buying a ticket, customers would be required to either verify their vaccination status or prove they have tested negative for coronavirus within 72 hours prior to the event. Regional health authorities would determine the length of coverage for any test.

Attendees would then authorize vaccine distribution providers to send over test results to companies like CLEAR Health Pass or IBM's Digital Health Pass, which would verify the fan's status to Ticketmaster. Anyone who tests positive or fails to get screened won't be granted access to the event venue, Billboard reported.

Earlier today, Ticketmaster issued the following statement correcting the original report from Billboard:

"It was widely misreported yesterday that Ticketmaster will be requiring vaccine status/test results for future events. This is not true. Ticketmaster does not have the power to set policies around safety/entry requirements, which would include vaccines and/or testing protocols. That is up to the discretion of the event organizer. We are indeed exploring these options, but it is still only a potential concept. And Ticketmaster will not be able to require such parameters — it would always be up to the event organizer."

Due to the ongoing pandemic, ticketing and promotion giant Live Nation Entertainment — which operates both Live Nation and Ticketmaster — last week reported a 95% drop in revenue in its third quarter compared to the same time last year.

Earlier this week, Pfizer said results from a Phase 3 trial shows its COVID-19 vaccine candidate is more than 90 percent effective. The seasonal flu vaccine, by comparison, prevents illness 40 percent of the time.

Brian Johnson has commended Axl Rose for doing a "fantastic" job filling in for him at the end of AC/DC's "Rock Or Bust" tour.

AC/DC postponed the last 10 dates of its spring 2016 North American trek after Johnson was advised to stop playing live or "risk total hearing loss." The band went on to complete the European and North American legs of its "Rock Or Bust" tour with the GUNS N' ROSES frontman as a "guest vocalist."

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Johnson said: "He jumped into a tough, tough vocalist gig. You've got to be on top of your game for that. There's not many resting places. You've really got to go in full chop, all of the time. And for him to do that at such short notice was pretty fantastic. I've got a lot of respect for what he did, you know. A lot of respect."

AC/DC's North American tour ended in Philadelphia in September 2016, and despite initial fan trepidation, Axl got generally good reviews for his performances. Guitarist Angus Young said at the time: "I mean, under the situation that we had, it was very good that he volunteered and said, 'Hey, if I can help, let me try.' So he's been very good. And he had to learn a lot of songs very quickly, and he's done a great job."

Duff McKagan, who is one-third of the reunited partial classic lineup of GUNS N' ROSES, got a chance to watch Rose and AC/DC play in June 2016 in London, England and in September 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Duff spoke about Axl's collaboration with AC/DC during a 2019 appearance on "The Church Of What's Happening Now" podcast. He said: "The way [Axl] did that was amazing. He was, like, 'If you guys don't mind, I'm gonna go try out. They need a hand here.' [Late AC/DC frontman] Bon Scott's his all-time [hero]. [We said], 'Dude, you know you don't really have to try out for AC/DC.' But he was really nervous. 'I'm gonna go try out. It fits in with our touring perfect.' And Slash and I were, like, 'You've got the gig.' But he went to Atlanta and tried out, quote-unquote, and got the gig. I saw him twice on that tour. I flew to London to see him, and I flew to Cleveland to see that. It was great."

McKagan added: "I think what it did for [Axl]… We got to know Angus through that. Angus has now come out and played with us a bunch of times. That was that thing when he was 14 or 15, 'Man, one day, if I ever got to be in AC/DC…' He was singing with a broom, and he finally got to do it. Amazing."

AC/DC will release its long-awaited comeback album, "Power Up", on November 13. The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien, who also worked 2008's "Black Ice" and 2014's "Rock Or Bust".

Although AC/DC originally planned on releasing "Power Up" earlier this year, the pandemic forced the band to reconsider.

This past Friday, SYSTEM OF A DOWN released "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz", the band's first new songs in 15 years. The tracks were motivated by the recently erupted conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the latter aided by Turkey and accountable for the greatest violence the region has endured in 26 years. Produced by guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian, who also wrote the music and lyrics, both songs are streaming now on all DSPs and are available for purchase on Bandcamp with band royalties earmarked for the Armenia Fund.

In a new message, SYSTEM OF A DOWN said: "We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support of our campaign for the people of Artsakh, and for helping us raise over $600k in donations to provide for those in dire need via the Armenia Fund. In the accompanying six-minute video, the four SYSTEM OF A DOWN members — Malakian, singer Serj Tankian, bassist Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan — talk about why it was so important for the them to overcome their creative differences to record these new songs, as well as get the word out about the atrocities taking place in Artsakh and parts of Armenia.

"What we're hoping is that what happened in 1915 [the Armenian Genocide] and what's happened so many times in history doesn’t repeat itself," Dolmayan said.

Tankian added: "It's an injustice that we want people to pay attention to, and that's why we're doing this. So that they can, in turn, inform their own government bodies, who can respond properly."

He continued: "As SYSTEM OF A DOWN, this has been an incredible occasion for us to come together, and put everything aside and speak out for our nation, as one."

"Protect The Land" a was originally written by Malakian for the next album by his other group, SCARS ON BROADWAY, while "Genocidal Humanoidz" was penned three or four years ago when Malakian, Dolmayan and Odadjian convened for a jam session that produced several songs, only to abandon them when Tankian wouldn't commit to an album.

The music video for "Protect The Land" incorporates recent footage of the protests and on-the-ground fighting in Artsakh, but in a very personal and aesthetic way. As he did for all previous SYSTEM OF A DOWN releases, Odadjian executive-produced the music video and curated the cover and brand art for the project.

Clutch has released its new single, "Passive Restraints". The song originally appeared as the title track to the bands second EP released in 1992. This newly recorded version is part of the Weathermaker Vault Series and features guest vocals by Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God.

Clutch and Blythe have collaborated on this track live for several years now, the last time at European festival appearances in the summer of 2019. The song can be streamed on Spotify here. The official video for the song was directed by David Brodsky (The Black Dahlia Murder, Papa Roach). Watch below.

"Passive Restraints’ was one of the first Clutch songs I wrote lyrics to," states frontman Neil Fallon. "It was a staple of Clutch sets for years but fell by the wayside as we wrote more and more songs over the years. When we toured with Lamb Of God a few years back, Randy would often ask us to bring it back into rotation. We dragged our feet, and finally, we caved. And we were glad we did. The last time Clutch played Copenhell, Randy joined us on stage to perform the song. We decided to re-record it for the WM Vault Series and thought it was only fitting to have Randy join us."

"When Clutch asked if I wanted to sing an older song with them during our 2016 tour together, I knew immediately which one I wanted to do- 'Passive Restraints' adds Blythe. "We performed it in Milwaukee, then again a few years later at Copenhell Fest in Denmark, and I had a blast both times. I think they were a bit surprised I chose a song released in 1992, but I've been a fan for a long time. I've followed their development as a band since the early days and have enjoyed every album, but as a musician, I know sometimes it's fun to dust off something you haven't played in many years and see how it sounds. The song holds up to this day, and I was honored to sing on its re-release."

September 25th marked 25 years since Rammstein emerged from Berlin with its debut album, Herzeleid. To celebrate the anniversary, the RammWiki page on YouTube continues to roll out rare audio and video material from the band's career. 

The clip below is upgraded high quality footage of Rammstein's 2005 Echo Awards performance of "Keine Lust", featuring the band members wearing the fat suits used in the official video. 

To celebrate Rammstein's first indelible impact on global hard rock history, the band and Vertigo/UMe will release limited, remastered editions of the band’s groundbreaking debut on December 4. They have released an official trailer for Herzeleid (XXV Anniversary Edition - Remastered) featuring the CD and vinyl LP versions of the album.

Herzeleid (XXV Anniversary Edition - Remastered) will feature the album’s original tracklist on a single CD, housed in a lavish, cross-shaped digipak with deluxe slipcase, and, for the first time ever, the remastered album with HD sound will be available digitally.

In addition, there will be a 2LP version with a slipcase containing two 180 gram heavyweight black vinyl discs with blue splatter effect. The creator of the original artwork, Dirk Rudolph, is also responsible for the Anniversary Edition packaging. The booklets also contain the original band portraits shot by Praler. Both the CD and vinyl editions are strictly limited.

Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has checked in with the following update:

"Not only am I releasing the original solo version of Reborn in early 2021 (it will be titled Reborn Again), but I am also stepping back into the studio in February to start on a brand new solo album. My question is - what do you want to hear on a new solo album? Any particular guest? Any particular style of song? I love hearing what you would want and believe me, I listen."

Stryper's Reborn album, released in 2005, was slated to be a Michael Sweet solo record, but after the band's reunion tour he played it for the other members, and guitarist Oz Fox suggested it should be a Stryper record. The other members came in and learned their parts from the original demos. Sweet says in his autobiography, Honestly: My Life And Stryper Revealed, that he convinced Big3 Records, which had signed him for a solo release, to make it a Stryper record deal. Reborn became the first all-original Stryper record in 15 years.

New Jersey-based symphonic metal outfit Everdawn - formerly known as Midnight Eternal - has issued the details for their Dan Swanö-mastered second album, Cleopatra, now confirmed for release in early February 2021 through Sensory Records. Alongside the cover artwork, tracklisting, and other details, a brief teaser for the album has been issued.

Everdawn is embodied by lead vocalist Alina Gavrilenko, guitarist/vocalist Richard Fischer, bassist Mike LePond (Symphony X), drummer Dan Prestup, and keyboardist Boris Zaks. Through the course of eleven epic new songs, the band delivers 48 minutes of progressive, symphonic excellence on Cleopatra.

The vocals for Cleopatra were recorded at Soundmine Recording, the guitars were recorded at Frightbox Recording with engineer Bobby Torres, the bass, drums, and keyboards recorded at RMF Recording Studios, the bass engineered by Richard Fischer and additional editing by Bobby Torres. Upon completion, the album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound (Opeth, Riverside, Katatonia), and is completed with cover artwork by Gyula Havancsák of Hjules Illustration and Design, and photography by Alexandra Hassan and Northern Luna. Additionally, Therion vocalist Thomas Vikström provides additional vocals to the track "Your Majesty Sadness".

Blackened American Whiskey has announced its partnership with METALLICA's All Within My Hands (AWMH), a foundation dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services, for its "Season of Giving" charitable initiative. From now until January, Blackened will donate $5 for each bottle purchased either online or in-store to All Within My Hands.

In 2018, METALLICA and late master distiller Dave Pickerell launched Blackened, a blend of the finest North American bourbons and ryes that have been individually aged for an average of eight-plus years. The blend is finished in black brandy casks while being pummeled with the low hertz frequencies of METALLICA's music. The proprietary sonic-enhancement process called Black Noise uses the movement from the sound waves to extract more flavors from the wood. In June of 2019, master distiller and blender Rob Dietrich joined the fold after the passing of Pickerell, overseeing the sourcing, blending, and cask finishing of barrels for each batch.

Simulacrum, the progressive metal band hailing from Finland, will release their third album overall, Genesis, on February 12 via Frontiers Music Srl. The album is a stunningly strong statement for the progressive metal world with hard hitting melodic progressive metal paying homage to the great prog bands of the ‘70s without forgetting to blend in the best elements of the genre’s current direction.

“The song 'Nothing Remains' is a hard hitting, high tempo progressive metal song I wrote for this album. I tried to honour some of my early musical influences, like Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer when I wrote this tune and you can hear this in some of the chunking riffs and the infernal thrash metal segment that is in between the keyboard and guitar solo. The band did a top notch performance for this song, so we wanted to make a music video for it. The music video is almost like a female Robocop oriented story of a soldier who signs up for cybernetic body augmentation and loses a part of her humanity with every upgrade, until almost nothing remains... hence the name of the song. At the end of the video you can see the spark of humanity that is left in her, when she spares the life of the rebel fighter. We hope you all enjoy this single as much as we enjoyed making it!," says Christian “Chrism” Pulkkinen, the band's keyboardist and founder.

The roots of Simulacrum go back to 1999 when Christian “Chrism” Pulkkinen started writing his first batch of songs, which a few years later would end up on the band’s debut album, The Master and the Simulacrum (2012). In 2015, the band's sophomore album, Sky Divided, a concept album revolving around a classic 'War of the Worlds' type story with an alien race attacking planet earth for its resources, was released. The album was a big evolutionary step for the band, with some straightforward power and thrash metal tunes joining 10 minute epics that payed homage to the prog giants of the '70s and '90s. The album was a bit more polished compared to the debut, from how the songs were performed to continuity throughout the album. As with the debut, Simulacrum received quite a bit of praise in the metal media and showed that they were becoming a force to reckon with.

After the release of Sky Divided, the band started the process of enlisting some new members in the creation of their next album. Simulacrum parted ways with drummer Henri Kallio and enlisted Tatu Turunen as their new drummer. The band also started thinking outside of the box and instead of having one frontman, they decided to make the move to have two lead vocalists. After extensive auditions, Erik Kraemer was chosen to join the band. He has a tone that varies enough from original frontman Niklas Broman's style and also has the range required to sing the sometimes very difficult vocal lines, which makes for a perfect combination between the two.

The band then slowly started putting together ideas for a new album, the demos for which caught the attention of Frontiers Music Srl, who snapped up the band for a multi-album deal.

For decades, fans have been asking for a vinyl release of the iconic and beloved albums of viking/folk metal legends, Windir. On March 5, 2021, that dream will become a reality. The black metal classics Soknardalr, (1997), Arntor (1999), 1184 (2000), and Likferd (2003) will be available in a special limited edition wooden box set via Season Of Mist. The Sognametal Legacy box set is strictly limited to 1,184 copies worldwide.

Windir was founded by Terje “Valfar” Bakken in 1994 and released four albums in the period of 1997 - 2003. The Norwegian band gained a massive following with their unique blend of black and heavy metal with elements of old Norwegian folk music, solidifying their place among the early developers of the folk and viking metal sound. The identity of the group was strongly connected to their home region Sogn, which was demonstrated in the lyrics and in the concepts of the records. Eventually, they invented and adopted the term ‘Sognametal’ for their style.

The band ended abruptly when Terje “Valfar” Bakken died in 2004. The remaining musicians decided to disband Windir and formed Vreid to march forward, bearing the torch of the Sognametal legacy.

Jarle Hváll Kvåle, bass guitarist and songwriter of Vreid and Windir, comments on the release: “I am so happy that we are finally able to do this. There has been such a huge demand to release these albums on vinyl and I really have been looking forward to this day. These records are important cornerstones in our lives and represent a time that was very special to us. It is great to have a strong partner on board, and I am very proud that we can do this together with Season of Mist.

"Next year marks the 20th anniversary of 1184, and we think this is a great occasion to celebrate this unique album, the most important one in the Windir history. With this record, Windir became a full band for the first time and it was the first time that me and Terje wrote an album together. It was a time filled with youthful will, aggression, pride, curiosity and of course beautiful naivety.

"So, to celebrate this record and the period it represents, we’ll have the entire Windir legacy available on vinyl. I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copies and see no better way to celebrate the legacy and brotherhood of our fallen comrade Terje.”

Formed in 1991 by Jonas Renkse & Anders Nyström, and transitioning from early pioneers of the rising black/death/doom movement, to powerhouses of the progressive metallic rock genre, 2020 saw Katatonia present their eleventh studio opus, the poignant City Burials, to unanimous acclaim. And so now, following closely in its footsteps, the Swedish dark rock masters present Dead Air to further immortalize the strangest of times.

With a somewhat unforeseen global event transpiring this year which resulted in touring being made all but impossible for artists internationally, Katatonia conducted a more intimate “lockdown” show which was streamed live from Studio Grondahl, Stockholm on May 9. Dead Air offers fans a full 88-minute set containing 20 tracks from the band’s extensive and illustrious repertoire to date, with inclusions spanning two decades of dark progressive greatness, and essentially also debuting three of the City Burials album tracks in a live setting.

The tracklisting itself contains a very literal selection of fan favourites overall, having being voted for exclusively by the band’s worldwide fanbase, flawlessly flirting between earlier singles such as metallic anthems "My Twin" and "July", to the stirring emotional grandeur of new song, "Lacquer".

The recording, mixing & engineering work was orchestrated by David Castillo, notable for his extensive body of work with Katatonia to date, and the performance itself was professionally filmed by Blackbox Video.

Leviathan Records, the label run by guitarist David Chastain, has posted more live footage from the archives.

A message states: "Chastain exploded onto the metal scene with the release of their epic debut album, Mystery Of Illusion, in 1985. Shortly after the release of that album the band met up in Cincinnati, Ohio to play a concert at Bogart's. The band for the show was David T. Chastain on guitar, Leather Leone on vocals, Mike Skimmerhorn on bass, Russell Jinkens on second guitar and Les Sharp on drums.

"The concert was actually a showcase for a major label that Mike Varney had arranged. We recently found this concert on a Beta tape and had it transferred to digital format. Considering the show was 35 years ago and shot on one camera by a fan, it obviously has some technical flaws but we decided to release it for its "historical" importance. Leather's performance alone is worth the price of admission!

"'The Black Knight' was the opening song on the album and also in the concert. Mystery Of Illusion has just been reissued on CD by Divebomb Records."

Earlier this year, Abysmal Dawn was featured on the cover of Issue #52 of New Noise Magazine (April 2020). Along with an in-depth interview with mainman Charles Elliott, the issue included an exclusive flexi disc of the band's brand new cover of Candlemass' "Bewitched". The song is now available for streaming and download via all digital services here.

In addition, drummer James Coppolino of Los Angeles recently teamed up with Sick Drummer magazine to share the drum playthrough for the song "The Path Of The Totalitarian".The song is taken from the band's 2020 release, Phylogenesis. Watch the video below:

Back in 1990, Skyline - the band including W:O:A founding member Thomas Jensen on bass - was part of the billing of the very first Wacken Open Air. Today the band is opening the festival with stars like Gus G., Doro and many others, playing legendary songs of rock and metal and contributing anthems for the festival itself.
