Due for release on April 26th via Napalm Records, Fornaldarsagor will contain eight furious tracks that breathe new life into sagas and tales from a pre-christianized, pagan era that made Scandinavia into what it is today - and those sagas have now been wrapped in exciting viking metal. Swedish melodic progressive metal band, Darkwater, will release their new album, Human, on March 1st via Ulterium Records. The album will be available on CD, 2LP and digital. A lyric video for the single "In Front Of You" can be found below.

Human won't leave fans of melodic metal or progressive metal disappointed. The songs are heavier, more melodic and atmospheric than before and the band worked really hard on tweaking the ten songs and over 76 minutes of playing time into perfection. 9Electric collaborates with Carla Harvey of Butcher Babies on "The Light", the new single from the upcoming Megalith album. Jimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice spoke to ex-Dio, Last In Line and Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell. Campbell, spoke about his battle with cancer, Last In Line's new album, and not getting paid in Dio, which resulted in him getting fired.

When asked about getting fired for standing up for himself because of payments that were promised but not delivered, Campbell reveals: "I was in my early twenties and it wasn't about the money to me but it's about the principle, I'm very very big on principle. When somebody makes me a promise I expect them to keep it because I keep my word, that's just the way I was brought up. When I tell somebody I'm going to do something I meet my commitments. Ronnie had made us a promise and payment and we worked for very little money, less than our road crew and the band was very successful. Back then people bought records and we were selling a lot of records and we were all very involved in the creative process, it was really a collaborative process. We were kind of squeezed. Wendy Dio never really saw it as a band. She never really saw the value in the band and that's something that really really upset me.

"After I was fired I think Ronnie knew better he understood the real magic that the original band had and the chemistry we had and how we created together. I think Ronnie was really fearful of her and he never stood up. Like I said it was never about money I just wanted what Ronnie promised, it was a contract that was between the four of us and and he just wasn't man enough to follow through on it and and I called him on it and I got fired as a result. It was very painful for me for many years. We never got royalty checks that was the whole issue, we worked for for minimum wage even though we were writing the music we got no royalties, we got none of the merchandise or the t-shirts or those ticket sales for the venues or anything. We got a flat salary that was less than the road crew."

Swedish metallers TRANSPORT LEAGUE have signed a deal with Mighty Music. The band's eighth album, "A Million Volt Scream", will be released later in the year.

Formed in 1994, TRANSPORT LEAGUE soon made its mark on the scene with its debut album, "Stallion Showcase". Two and a half decades and half a dozen albums later, the collective is back with a new record, "A Million Volt Scream", which was produced at Oral Majority Recordings and at the Top Floor studios under the direction of Roberto Laghi (IN FLAMES, ENTOMBED A.D., RAISED FIST, SONIC SYNDICATE, MUSTASCH, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR), who also mixed the album.

"Of course there's boogie again, but also doom and hardcore, fast songs and hard riffs," vocalist/guitarist Tony Jelencovich says of the new disc. "Our sound may have changed a few times, but not the band's raw power and our penchant for strong grooves.

"'A Million Volt Scream' is a return to our TRANSPORT LEAGUE roots and mixes them with influences that had already surfaced on our two previous releases, 'Boogie From Hell' and 'Twist And Shout At The Devil'."

The three longstanding members — Jelencovich, Peter Hunyadi (guitar) and Mattias Starander (drums) — recorded the album together with bassist Dennis Österdal.

Planet Rock has announced the winners for The Rocks 2019, with Iron Maiden taking awards in the "Best British Band" and "Best Live Band" categories.

The band's legendary manager, Rod Smallwood, sent this video message explaining why the "Best Live Band" award in particular means so much to the metal stalwarts.

In advance of the 2019 North, Central and South American legs of Iron Maiden’s Legacy Of The Beast World Tour, gaming and entertainment giant IGN were granted unique behind-the-scenes access at several shows during the band’s 2018 European run.

Unveiling the story of how one of music’s most iconic global names took inspiration from their own mobile game to create arguably their most celebrated live show of all time, the video piece features interviews with both Iron Maiden’s drummer Nicko McBrain and Manager Rod Smallwood, on their hallowed stage at Birmingham’s Genting Arena last year.

The game was created in close collaboration with Iron Maiden and its management team, with the band visiting the game studio in April 2016 prior to the game’s launch in July that year. Maiden founder member and bassist Steve Harris recently, personally oversaw the design of a ‘Bass Eddie’ character centred on the classic “Fear of the Dark (Live)” single artwork, that is now not too dissimilar to ‘Arry himself!

The Legacy Of The Beast World Tour sees the stage design built around the different interlocking “worlds” of the game with a set list covering a large selection of Eighties material with a handful of surprises from later albums to add diversity. Rock and gaming fans will know that Maiden pioneered the game/tour concept with their own Ed Hunter project back in 1999.

Dave Shack, Managing Director at Phantom Music Management said “We were delighted to invite IGN behind the scenes and they have perfectly captured the essence of what we set out to do when using the game as inspiration for the tour. "Cells", the new video from THE DAMNED THINGS, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Brandon Dermer, who has previously worked with PANIC! AT THE DISCO and NEKROGOBLIKON.

"Cells" is taken from THE DAMNED THINGS' upcoming album, "High Crimes", which will be released on April 26 via Nuclear Blast.

The supergroup comprised of members of EVERY TIME I DIE, ANTHRAX and FALL OUT BOY recently confirmed the addition of ALKALINE TRIO bassist Dan Andriano to its ranks. He replaces Josh Newton (EVERY TIME I DIE), who hasn't been part of the band since it was reactivated three years ago. Also gone from THE DAMNED THINGS is guitarist Rob Caggiano (VOLBEAT, ANTHRAX).

"Normally, when career bands say they made a record for fun, they didn't — but we actually did. Maybe that's why this band doesn't have a career?" said THE DAMNED THINGS' Joe Trohman. "Anyway, we're genuinely proud of it. Check it out, and watch the video to see how severely injured we got during the process!"

"High Crimes" was produced by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, AMON AMARTH) and is the follow-up to 2010's "Ironiclast".

Trohman — who also plays in FALL OUT BOY — told Kerrang! magazine that the band was originally planning to release a new EP "but then it got to the point where we just made a whole record. The more we put into it, the more we were, like, 'Okay, let's just do this,'" he said. "I hate using the terms 'organically,' because it's a pretty shitty buzzword, but it happened organically. [Laughs]"

Trohman also spoke about some of the individual tracks on "High Crimes", saying: "I originally wanted to open the record with this song called 'Storm Charmer' because it was really slow and ominous, which is probably a bad idea. [Laughs] I think I love 'Cells' — that is one of my favorite songs on the record. 'Cells', 'Omen' and 'Carry A Brick' are some of my favorites.

"Honestly, I've been sitting with the demos for nearly two years, and I still haven't got sick of any of it," he continued. "I don't listen to it in a self-serving way. I'll listen to them and think, 'When am I going to hate them?' And every time I listen to them, I really like all these songs. It's the first time I've listened to a record and found there's not a lot I would change. With making anything, I could tweak it forever, but I think with this one, the mentality was just: go in, write these songs, and when they're done, they're done. Don't overthink anything. Hopefully, by approaching it in a 'Let's make them sound really cool and not tweak them forever' stance, then they would be the rawest possible version. I though the last record was definitely a little flippant in production, and I just wanted to pull back on that."

THE DAMNED THINGS recently announced its first two live shows in seven years. The band will perform at the 2019 edition of the Welcome To Rockville festival on May 4 in Jacksonville, Florida, and at the Epicenter festival on May 11 in Richmond County, North Carolina.

THE DAMNED THINGS was formed a decade ago, when FALL OUT BOY's Andy Hurley and ANTHRAX's Scott Ian started writing music together. The band played its first show two years later and released its debut album, "Ironiclast", in December 2010. After performing a few gigs together, the members took a hiatus and returned to their respective bands.

In addition to Ian and Hurley, "Ironiclast" featured EVERY TIME I DIE frontman Keith Buckley, Trohman, Newton and Caggiano.

"Ironiclast" sold 6,200 copies in the first week of release and reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

Last year, Ian said that the supergroup would have a follow-up to "Ironiclast" on the way in the near future.

"We always knew with THE DAMNED THINGS, it was always going to be something that we would get to do schedules permitting, because we are all in extremely busy bands," he explained.

On February 7, 2017, Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers JOURNEY proved their status as one of rock's best live bands when they brought their landmark albums "Escape" (just in time for its 35th anniversary) and "Frontiers" to the legendary Budokan stage in Japan. Canadian hard rock trio DANKO JONES has unveiled the Amir Chamdin-directed music video for its latest single, "Dance Dance Dance". The clip can be seen below.

Chamdin, an award-winning Swedish filmmaker who has previously helmed videos for the likes of GHOST and THE HELLACOPTERS, shot "Dance Dance Dance" last month in Stockholm and created something truly unique by combining two vastly different art forms — DANKO JONES's signature style of fist-pumping rock with an incredible single-take dancehall-inspired clip.

As longtime fans of his work, the members of DANKO JONES were excited to collaborate with Chamdin and gave him free rein to bring his vision of their song to life. Says frontman Danko Jones: "We are excited to finally have Amir Chamdin directing the video for our new single, 'Dance Dance Dance'. We’ve been a huge fan of Amir's work for years now, and waiting to work with him was all worth it."

Piet and his fellow bandmates are unleashing album number 13, Kill Or Get Killed. Though the artwork and title seem to be unusually grim, the band stay true to their straight to the point guitar solos, perfect hooks, catchy choirs and the characteristic voice of front man Piet himself. This mix makes Kill Or Get Killed an excellent power metal album.

Certainly those ten new songs plus one bonus track are again well produced by band boss Piet, as he is not only guitarist and singer but also owner of the Powerhouse Studios.

The heralds of northern darkness, Belzebubs, have confirmed April 26th, 2019 as the release date for Pantheon Of The Nightside Gods, their long-awaited Century Media studio album. Consisting of nine tracks and a running time of 53 minutes, the upcoming album features a well-matured band that is not afraid to explore hitherto unknown depths.

The album was mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö, who's also responsible for the sound of Dark Funeral's The Secrets Of The Black Arts, Dissection's The Somberlain, and many others.

"I'm going to release it July, it's going to be a full album. I usually sell my physical albums on tour because everyone going to the show is like, 'oh cool, here's the record.' So, I'll have an exclusive tour thing. It works out really well for me."

Dutch death metallers, Putrefied Corpse, have released a video for "Cordon Bleu Of Her Curvaceous Body", a track from the band's debut album, Left To Rot, out on March 19th via Xtreem Music. Watch the clip below.

Putrefied Corpse was born in 2013, but after going through different stages and changes in its lineup, the band has finally achieved a steady one that includes ex-members of bands like Phlebotomized, Adetar and Death Squad. Throughout the year 2018, the band has been recording their debut album, Left To Rot, which they showed to Xtreem Music, who immediately offered them a deal. Swedish atmospheric doom/sludge metallers, The Moth Gatherer, are streaming their new album, Esoteric Oppression, ahead of Friday's official release via Agonia Records. Listen below.

The Moth Gatherer is a band of varying genres, centered on atmospheric doom, sludge and post metal. Their prolific approach includes electric musical stylings, along with traces of melodic post-rock.

The band commented on the new album: "We’ve put our very fabric into it. Its creation has been a path paved with distress and frustration; one that has left us totally exhausted. But all our effort shows in the music and we can now say that it was worth the turmoil. We’re extremely proud to present Esoteric Oppression to you all. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

Esoteric Oppression was worked on in several recording studios. Guitars, bass and drums were tracked at Studio Underjord with Joona Hassinen, who later mixed the entire album. Electronics and vocals were recorded at The Lifestream Studio. Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna) mastered the album at Redmount Studios, while the production was laid out by The Moth Gatherer. The recording features a guest appearance from Messy Mathi (Barst) on the track "The Drone Kingdom". SCG prepared the album's cover artwork and layout.

Icelandic wrecking crew Une Misère's 2019 is shaping up to be another landmark year having been nominated and performed a memorable live show at Iceland's annual People's Choice Awards last month as well as scheduled appearances at both Summer Breeze and Metal Days in the coming months, Today, the band is proud to announce they have been nominated for two awards at the Icelandic Music Awards. Similar to the US version of the Grammys, the Icelandic Music Awards recognizes the band with nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Rock Song for "Wounds".

Une Misère's vocalist Jón Már Ásbjörnsson comments, "We are humbled surely for these nominations for the Icelandic Music Awards. Recently the band released the music video for their song, "Damages". The song was recorded by Leifur Örn Kaldal Eiríksson at Lightweight Studios and was mixed by Sky Van Hoff and mastered by Svante Forsbäck. The video was directed by Amy Haslehurst. Watch below.

The band commented about the song, "'Damages' is about being at your breaking point. It is about being at the very edge and falling over. 'Damages' is about facing the fact that mental diseases may never be cured; although the person can get better, one may never be fully rid of it. Depression, anxiety, addiction and so forth - they will always be there. The shadows - they will always be there. They will follow you - into the grave."

Multi-national melodic hard rockers, Eden's Curse, have confirmed that their sixth studio release will be a concept album. Set for a 2020 release on their long time German label, AFM Records, the band confirmed the news with the following statement:

"We are delighted to announce that our sixth studio release will be a concept album. We are in the early stages of writing and have today confirmed our plans with AFM Records. The official music video for "Genesis", a brand new song from the Canadian heavy music artist Devin Townsend, can be streamed below. The track is taken from his upcoming album, "Empath", which will be released on March 29 via InsideOut Music.

Devin comments: "It's with great pride (and a healthy dose of trepidation) that I can finally present to you a song from the 'Empath' record. In each album cycle there is the dilemma over which track we 'lead' with, not only to get people excited, but also to give an accurate overview of the project.

"As the musical nature of 'Empath' shifts from track to track, (from musical theater, death metal, prog free jazz and more commercial things) it was a hard decision. Some people wanted the relatively straightforward song 'Spirits Will Collide' while others wanted a more cinematic banging track like 'Evermore'. We ultimately chose to go with the opening track, 'Genesis', as it not only features around five different stylistic shifts (some quite jarring, to be fair :) but also includes all three drummers, the choir, the orchestra, and basically the kitchen sink as well. This song is ultimately about facing fear, as well as analyzing one's relationship with one's past in order to progress.

"The record has an overarching theme of what I like to view as 'hope' in chaotic times.

"I have been working on this record for more than a year, and it represents a kind of shift for me in my personal and professional world that I am quite proud of. It's the first time in quite a few years I have made an album like this, and I think if nothing else, 'Genesis' represents the chaotic nature of the project (and the world at large currently) in the most accurate way I can do at this stage of life.

"I'd like to thank the entire team of wonderful musicians and artists who helped me actualize this material, as well as InsideOut and Northern Music for their help and support."

Over the past few years, the success that Devin has slowly worked for has fortunately come with the power to control his own creative destiny. The recent successes with the DVD from a sold-out Royal Albert hall, or his 2012 "Retinal Circus", or last year's "Ocean Machine" live DVD with the Orchestra And Choir Of State Opera Plovdiv has put him in a position where with the new album "Empath", he will once and for all define himself as a musical force outside of any particular genre classification.


On this album, Devin has decided to see what would happen if all the styles that make up his current interests were finally represented in one place. Chester Bennington's former bandmates in his first group, the Phoenix, Arizona-based post-grunge act GREY DAZE, have announced plans to re-record their old material with the help of the late LINKIN PARK frontman's friends and family.

Among the guest musicians set to appear on the recordings are Chester's 22-year-old son Jaime Bennington, KORN's Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer, P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel, BUSH's Chris Traynor, as well as Ryan Shuck, Chester's bandmate in DEAD BY SUNRISE.

GREY DAZE posted a picture of Jaime in the recording booth, captioning it: "Chester would have been so very proud of his son Jaime Bennington. We had Jaime sing along with his father last night at NRG Recording Studios and his voice is great! Sounds a lot like his father and we were all very proud to be a part of it."

In a 2001 interview with Revolver magazine, Chester described GREY DAZE's musical style as "early-'90s -style rock. It wasn't pop rock, it wasn't heavy metal. It was in between grunge and good rock. We didn't know what we were doing. We were just writing songs and singing. It was a four-piece band. Some of our songs were more rock. Others were more, I don't know, alternative? I've always been into punk and classic rock. The first few years of being a musician, it was all cover band stuff, and we'd throw in a few originals. The last band I was in, I was in it for almost eight years. We made two albums, and tried really hard."

He added: "I definitely know why it didn't go anywhere: We all wanted to make it, but we all wanted to make it for different reasons. It wasn't all about making good songs, where anything else that comes from that is a fringe benefit."

Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home in July 2017 after hanging himself.

LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

Salt Lake City's traditional metal champions, Visigoth, have announced a Summer 2019 headline tour for Europe:

"We are emerging from the abyss with a new two-song 7" that we are looking forward to unleashing onstage across Europe this summer! Of course, this is just a foreshadowing of bigger things to come, but we hope that the hordes will be placated - if temporarily - by this humble offering. We'll leave it up to the listener to explore the unifying theme that ties the lyrics and artwork together, but rest assured that musically not much has changed. Love it or hate it, this is still straightfoward heavy metal done the way we've always done it. Without further ado, the road calls once again, and we answer with fervent hunger!"

Presto Ballet have released a video for "Tip Of The Hat", a track from their sixth studio album, The Days Between, released back in December via Rat Pak Records. Watch below.

Founded by Metal Church guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof in 2005, Presto Ballet combines the melodic and harmonic old school aspects with the neo progressive rock sound of today. While their sound is often compared to the early works of Kansas, Rush, and Yes, Presto Ballet still maintains its own identity.

In regards to the musical direction of The Days Between, guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof comments, “This new album is a mixed bag of musical influences, ranging from the 60's to the 70's but done in a modern context. The songs are a little more focused on melody, hooks and song structure, it's definitely more on the melodic rock side and it has all the elements of the things that this band loves most about music!”
