SACRED REICH Parts Ways With Guitarist JASON RAINEY, Announces Replacement

SACRED REICH Parts Ways With Guitarist JASON RAINEY, Announces Replacement

SACRED REICH guitarist and founding member Jason Rainey has exited the band for "health reasons" and has been replaced by Joey Radziwill.

The veteran Arizona thrashers are putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated new studio album — the band's first in 23 years — titled "Awakening". Due this summer, the disc is being produced by Arthur Rizk, who has previously worked with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, POWER TRIP and CODE ORANGE, among others. "Awakening" will mark SACRED REICH's first release since the return of drummer Dave McClain.

SACRED REICH said in a statement: "Joey and his dad Tim [drums] helped us record the demos for the new songs. So when we needed a new guitar player, Joey was the obvious choice and was able to jump right in and crush his parts on the new record. He is 22 years old and grew up listening to SACRED REICH (his parents raised him up right).

"We welcome Joey, his immense guitar skills, and youthful energy to the band!"

SACRED REICH vocalist/bassist Phil Rind told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that he and his bandmates "had hoped that Jason would be up to recording and the touring to follow, but it didn't work out." He added: "Joey stepped right in and did a killer job on the guitar tracks."

According to Rind, SACRED REICH will begin mixing the new album this week. "We went for a very organic sound," he said. "Dave did not want to use any triggers or sound replacement. We spent a lot of time on the room mics to get a big natural drum sound. Modern recording technology is great for a lot of things but we don't want to rely on it."

Rind went on to say that the "whole recording experience" for "Awakening" has been "incredible." He said: "The Platinum Underground is a fabulous studio. Great gear and vibe. Producer Arthur Rizk has brought new ideas to the songs and a positive energy. Engineer John Aquilino has amazing technical know-how and is the best dude. The songs sound great. The process has been so fun and positive. Everything has been smooth and easy. We can't wait for everyone to hear it."

SACRED REICH recently announced tour dates across Europe and the U.S. The "Awakening" European tour will cover all of Europe and begins in November 2019. Additionally, SACRED REICH has announced a string of dates in North America alongside IRON REAGAN, LEEWAY and ENFORCED for May and European visits for festivals in July and August.

McClain was a member of SACRED REICH from 1991 to 1995. He played on the "A Question" EP (1991) and the "Independent" (1993) and "Heal" (1996) albums before leaving to join MACHINE HEAD.

Rind said that Dave's return to the band was "the best-case scenario that we could have hoped for. Dave is the best!" he added. "A great drummer and a great person and we are beyond excited to welcome him back to the band."

Dave stated: "I'm so excited about rejoining my brothers in SACRED REICH. To have the opportunity to make and play music with one of my favorite metal bands was always something I hoped could happen. I can't wait for everyone to hear the new album that we're recording and to come see us out on the road in 2019-2020."

McClain left MACHINE HEAD in November after completing the band's "Freaks & Zeroes Tour".

Formed in 1986, SACRED REICH is part of the second wave of thrash, along with TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL, DESTRUCTION and DARK ANGEL. Over the years, SACRED REICH has produced a catalog of politically charged aggressive songs that have stood the test of time.

SACRED REICH's last studio album, "Heal", came out in 1996. The band broke up in 2000 and remained inactive until 2006 when they received offers to play European festivals.

Since coming out of retirement more than a decade ago, SACRED REICH has almost exclusively played the European festival circuit every summer. But that changed in 2017 as SACRED REICH celebrated the 30th anniversary of its classic album "Ignorance". To commemorate this milestone, the band brought its "30 Years Of Ignorance" tour around the world.

DEMON HUNTER: 'On My Side' Video Released

DEMON HUNTER: 'On My Side' Video Released

"On My Side", the new Andy Maier-directed video from the Christian metal band DEMON HUNTER, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album "War", which will be made available alongside a companion LP, "Peace", on March 1.

Frontman Ryan Clark said about the "On My Side" clip: "[We tried to] keep things straightforward with regards to the overall approach. Though the video is strictly performance, we did have some fun by filming each setup the same way a number of times using different lighting scenarios in each. This meant performing it the exact same way (hand motions, body positioning) over and over, but ultimately allowed us to toggle between looks while maintaining the same general positioning, which gives a really cool effect in the end."

Clark told Full Metal Jackie's nationally syndicated radio show that releasing two separate albums "with the polarized styles" that DEMON HUNTER is known for — "heavy and the super-melodic 'ballad'-style songs" — is something he and his bandmates have "talked about doing for a long time." He explained: "We didn't want to do it too early in our career just because it felt like a lofty sort of endeavor. So we didn't want to get carried away too early. So now kind of rounding out our albums at No. 9 and No. 10, seems like a really good time to do it."

Ryan said that DEMON HUNTER decided not to package the two LPs together because "double albums are too hard to digest. Of the ones that have been released from bands that I really like, I never really found myself diving into them and fully really soaking them in just because it's quite an undertaking," he said. "So I wanted this to almost be two autonomous things that are meant to be listened to. And I know, coming out on the same day and everything, they might as well be packaged together, but the idea of them being separate is that they… it might not be so burdensome to consume."

"War" track listing:

01. Cut To Live

02. On My Side

03. Close Enough

04. Unbound

05. Grey Matter

06. The Negative

07. Ash

08. No Place For You Here

09. Leave Me Alone

10. Lesser Gods

"Peace" track listing:

01. More Than Bones

02. I Don't Believe You

03. Loneliness

04. Peace

05. When The Devil Come

06. Time Only Takes

07. Two Ways

08. Rescue Myself

09. Bet My Life

10. Fear Is Not My Guide

DEMON HUNTER formed in Seattle in 2001. The lineup features Clark alongside co-founder Jonathan Dunn (bass), drummer Tim "Yogi" Watts (drums, since 2004), lead guitarist Patrick Judge (since 2008) and guitarist Jeremiah Scott (since 2011). Clark remains the primary songwriter, with increasing contributions from Judge.

GUS G. Transforms Into SATCHEL G. For STEEL PANTHER 'Crazy Train' Performance

GUS G. Transforms Into SATCHEL G. For STEEL PANTHER 'Crazy Train' Performance

Former OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Gus G. transformed into "Satchel G." for a guest appearance with STEEL PANTHER during the final show of their joint tour on February 19 in Pratteln, Switzerland. Together, they performed the Ozzy classic "Crazy Train", which originally appeared on Osbourne's debut solo album, 1980's "Blizzard Of Ozz". Check out a video of the performance below (filmed by Matt Stocks and Elias Aravidis).

Gus, whose real name is Kostantinos Karamitroudis, joined Osbourne's band in 2009 after building a name for himself as one of metal/hard rock's most exciting new shredders in his own melodic metal act, FIREWIND. The guitarist would go on to play on Osbourne's most recent studio album, 2010's "Scream" and managed to start a solo career while Ozzy was touring and recording with BLACK SABBATH.

It was announced in April 2017 that guitarist Zakk Wylde would be rejoining Ozzy's backing group for all his upcoming solo show dates. Osbourne's touring lineup also includes Rob "Blasko" Nicholson on bass, Tommy Clufetos on drums and Adam Wakeman on keyboards.

In a 2018 interview with "The Right To Rock" podcast, Gus shared his thoughts and feelings when he got the word that Wylde would be stepping back into his role as Osbourne's guitar player. "I think some people were more upset about it than I was," he said. "I'm not saying I was really happy about it or anything, but given the circumstances, I had a really good run. Now he's retiring and he's 70 years old this year, I think, and he's bringing back his classic guitar player and there's a lot of history between them. It's something I totally understand. Obviously, he's a solo artist and he can play with whoever he wants. I can't say I didn't see that one coming at some point. Yeah, sure, I would have loved to do some more gigs with him and all that. In all honesty, there wasn't a lot of shows happening. He was busy with SABBATH and we would do scattered dates here and there. I don't know, it's great that he and Zakk are back together and also gives me the opportunity to focus on my own thing and basically just make a more long-term commitment plan into my own career. It was a gig that did a lot of good for me. It opened a lot of doors. It was only good times."

Watch QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT Perform At 91st ACADEMY AWARDS

Watch QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT Perform At 91st ACADEMY AWARDS

The 91st Academy Awards saw the world's biggest rock band own Hollywood's biggest night.

Legendary rock group QUEEN + Adam Lambert opened — and stole — the show at the star-studded Oscars, performing a medley of two of their most iconic songs, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions", getting a much-deserved standing ovation from Tinseltown's elite. Watch their electrifying tour de force below.

It was also a history-making performance, as QUEEN is the first rock band to ever open the Academy Awards. "Guitarist Brian May was the first to appear on stage, shredding on his guitar to the iconic beat of 'We Will Rock You'," wrote Rolling Stone. "Lambert joined, paying homage to [Freddie] Mercury's gravity-defying vocals and unmistakable showmanship."

The QUEEN biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" was up for five Oscars, including "Best Picture". Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury in the film, took the "Best Actor" trophy for his portrayal of the late singer.

Since Lambert first shared the stage with QUEEN for the 2009 "American Idol" final, his dynamic performances have reinvigorated the band and delighted fans worldwide. Their first full show together — starting as they meant to go on — thrilled a half-a-million-strong crowd in the Ukraine capital city of Kiev in June 2012. Since then, May and Taylor's musical fireworks have been matched by Lambert's vocal prowess and stage presence, making for an explosive combination. Over 180 gigs later, the partnership has proven a commercial and critical triumph, playing to enraptured full houses in every corner of the world.

20th Century Fox's "Bohemian Rhapsody" has topped the cinema box office in more than 35 countries around the world since its late October release, drawing worldwide box office receipts in excess of $845 million. The excitement the film inspired also saw QUEEN propelled back on to the music charts, where they hit No. 1 on Billboard's Artist 100 chart, reminding fans why they loved them and dazzling the previously-uninitiated. In the U.S., the band scored its highest-charting album in 38 years with the "Bohemian Rhapsody" soundtrack (Hollywood Records), which surged from #25 to #3 on the Billboard 200 chart on November 17, reached the top of the Billboard Rock Albums chart and were Spotify's most streamed artist in the world for the week ending November 22. In the same week, QUEEN's "Greatest Hits Vol I, II & III: The Platinum Collection" rocketed from #194 to #9 on the Billboard 200 and they had a jaw-dropping 22 songs charting on the Digital Rock Tracks chart including seven of the Top 10.

QUEEN original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor will team up once more with vocalist Adam Lambert for the "Rhapsody" tour, an epic 25-date run from mid-July through late August. The North American headline tour will be produced by Live Nation.

KATAKLYSM Frontman On Bands Who Drastically Change Their Sound: 'It's Not Cool For The Fans Who Have Been Following You All These Years'

KATAKLYSM Frontman On Bands Who Drastically Change Their Sound: 'It's Not Cool For The Fans Who Have Been Following You All These Years'

Alex Haber of Heavy New York conducted an interview with frontman Maurizio Iacono of Montreal, Quebec, Canada melodic death metallers KATAKLYSM prior to their January 11 concert at Gramercy Theater in New York City. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the touring cycle for their latest studio album, "Meditations":

Maurizio: "[It's been] good. We started really strong in Europe. It's been one of KATAKLYSM's strongest markets. We went out supporting the record there first. It was phenomenal. It was sold-out shows after the other. It was really good. We were with our friends and brothers in HYPOCRISY. It was a really good tour together. We are now starting to get into the U.S. part of it. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the whole SOULFLY tour because my wife is expecting, so she's holding on for dear life until I get home because she's this big right now. It's anticipated it's coming earlier, so I had to cancel the last week of the tour. Other than that, this is the first tour for 'Meditations' in the U.S. We're really happy to be here. It's been good so far."

On whether KATAKLYSM sticks to a formula when writing a new album or takes a new approach every time:

Maurizio: "There's always going to be a base to everything. KATAKLYSM's has always had its own identity regarding that, but we've never treated an album the same. We've never been 'This is what we have to do.' It's more of like how do we feel? What worked and didn't work? It's an acknowledgment of your career pretty much every time we come in. At the same time, we don't want to change anything. We've been around for so long and there's a reason we've been here for so long. We want to keep that going and we want to keep our fans satisfied. I know exactly how fans feel if you take a 360 [sic] change and you completely change the sound just because you want to. It's not cool for the fans who have been following you all these years and having that formula that they like about you. I think you take it with a grain of salt. You want to throw out some surprises and do some new things. KATAKLYSM is KATAKLYSM the way it is. I think we're going to try and perfect what we do as much as we can."

On whether there has been a time when his lyrics have determined the composition of a KATAKLYSM song:

Maurizio: "A perfect example of that is a song called 'Shadows And Dust'. We wrote it a long time ago; it's one of our biggest 'hits'. I don't like to say that word, but in death metal, it's whatever. We wrote the entire song around the chorus, so it was one of those things where I had an idea and I was like, 'Look, I want to do this. I want to come in with 'Shadows And Dust' and boom!' Everybody's, like, 'Okay, cool.' Everything got written around it. Sometimes it's the opposite. We don't have a formula per se. It's really about the feeling. Sometimes the music is there and I got the ideas on top of what we're doing. Sometimes the opposite and I'm going to have an idea and we're going to work around it. It's always different."

On whether he likes to leave his lyrics "open to interpretation" or there's a message behind them:

Maurizio: "I leave it open to interpretation, but I do have a message behind everything I do. KATAKLYSM has a very strong connection with its fanbase. We've never been a big media band. We're not always in the media, like 'This is what I'm eating right now.' We're not that type of band. We've come to learn about that and part of us really accepts that and likes that, like that we don't have that type of thing, but we do have this connection. When I write a lyric, they know that I'm dealing with something that's kind of personal, either it happened to me, happened to my guys, happened to us. It's open to interpretation to whatever is going on out there. It's very important to us, this aspect, because I think I have to write about something that matters to me. Everyday life to me matters. It's not about 'Satan's here! We're burning!' It's like, 'Alright. What after?' I think I'm not about a fantasy type of literature when it comes to writing music. Some bands, that's what they thrive on and some of them have a political angle to it. They're talking about Satan, but they have a political angle to it, or whatever, butchering babies. Everybody got their thing. But for KATAKLYSM, it's more of an everyday struggle because we've struggled like that as a band, also. We've never been accepted with everything, it's always been a fight. It reflects in our music and our lyrics. Yeah, it definitely has an underlying message, always. But we leave it open because sometimes I say something and it means something else. Example, 'Manipulator Of Souls' that we did back in the day. For me, it meant something. Somebody else came to me and said 'You saved my life. I was addicted to heroin and it manipulated me to my core. Your lyrics pulled me out.' Even if I don't credit myself to any of that, I think if the lyrics are helping the person, they already have the fight in them, they just don't know they have it. Maybe that will help them come out. To me, that's mission accomplished. I'm super happy with that."

"Meditations" was released last June via Nuclear Blast. The 10-song disc was produced by the band's guitarist Jean-François Dagenais and drummer Oli Beaudoin, and was mixed by Jay Ruston. Mastering duties were handled by Paul Logus (PANTERA).

The "Meditations" cover artwork was created for Ocvlta Designs by Surtsey, who also crafted the artwork for KATAKLYSM's previous record, "Of Ghosts And Gods".

LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA: 'We Are Not Looking For A New Singer'

LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA: 'We Are Not Looking For A New Singer'

LINKIN PARK vocalist Mike Shinoda has shot down reports that the band is actively searching for a replacement for singer Chester Bennington, who died nearly two years ago.

On Thursday (February 21), Shinoda took to his Twitter account to write: "Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I'd be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding.

"I'm not into predicting the future. The future will happen.

"Stop making shit up."

Shinoda made his latest comments in an apparent response to how the media covered a recent interview he gave to Rock Antenne. Asked whether he and the other members of the band have gotten together recently, Shinoda told the German outlet: "I see the other guys here and there — not all together usually. Usually it's just one on one. But I'm sure we're gonna get together soon and just hang out — hang out and see what's up."

When asked about the possibility of finding a new singer, Shinoda said: "That's not my goal right now. I think it has to happen naturally. And if we find somebody that's a great person that we think is a good personality fit and a good stylistic fit, then I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody... I wouldn't wanna ever feel like we were replacing Chester."

Shinoda added: "I know the other guys, they love to get onstage, they love to be in the studio, and so to not do that would be — I don't know — almost unhealthy. If doing that means that we need to have some other people in the mix in order to do it and do it well, then we would do that... But, like I said before, it has to happen naturally. I'm not running out and putting up 'vocalist wanted' posters."

Shinoda released a full-length solo album called "Post Traumatic" last year, and says he is continuing to write music both for himself and other artists, along with doing some producing.

Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home in July 2017 after hanging himself. LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I’d be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding.

I’m not into predicting the future. The future will happen.

AMORPHIS To Perform 'Queen Of Time' Album In Its Entirety At Select Shows This Summer

AMORPHIS To Perform 'Queen Of Time' Album In Its Entirety At Select Shows This Summer

Prior to AMORPHIS's show in Bratislava, Slovakia on January 29, bassist Olli-Pekka Laine spoke with Rocker.sk. The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On how AMORPHIS strives to maintain its relevance:

Olli-Pekka: "I think the main key is to stay open-minded to different music styles, and kind of learning about music constantly. We have had a really good production team — Jens Bogren and good songwriters. We were working quite hard for the arrangements after the last tour. We had around two months [where] we went through the songs and went through the material. We're quite strict about the material — like, which songs are allowed to go to the album. That's the way AMORPHIS has always been. Even since the '90s, we were really harsh for ourselves when it came to the material. Even when we arranged music at home before presenting to the guys, we wanted to make sure that you could stand behind it at the end of the day. That's the basic recipe, I think."

On the "big" sound of the group's latest album, "Queen Of Time":

Olli-Pekka: "That's one part of this band, of trying new things. It's been [like that] since day one. I think we will continue on that track from now on, but since we've tried this orchestrational things and choirs and stuff like that, maybe we try to do something else the next time. It seems to be the trend nowadays that metal bands are flirting with orchestral things, because it's kind of an easy thing to do even at your home studio. You can have a sampler and make huge arrangements for strings and horns and whatever. It makes the music sound more bombastic of course, but that's what we've been doing since day one. Even when we were putting out our first demo, which was pure death metal, we had choirs there as keyboard pads. That's nothing new for us. We [will] probably use those in the future as well, but I'm really happy that Jens did it in such a stylish manner that he didn't just poison the entire stereo picture with choirs all the time like many bands [do]... I think he's pretty sensitive about AMORPHIS and our style and our limits."

On the challenge of choosing a setlist from so many albums' worth of material:

Olli-Pekka: "We start with the most obvious songs — the video songs, and the songs which have been most present in the Internet. Then we start arguing about the rest. There are three guys who are mainly making suggestions for the set list, and we basically mostly agree with it. In a way, it's hard, because AMORPHIS has such a long history and large back catalog, but still, there are songs we have to play. There are those video tracks, and if we have 13 albums, if you take one from each, you have already quite a long set there. Now, since we are promoting the new album, we are naturally playing more new stuff. Therefore, it's easier to combine the set list because we have to play, say, four or five new songs. Then there's space left for maybe seven old songs, which would be video songs, basically. Next summer, we are playing special shows with 'Queen Of Time' — we are playing the album in its entirety in Finland. We have a little bit of a challenge there, because we haven't played those songs [since] the studio session. It's going to be interesting."

On "Skyforger", which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019:

Olli-Pekka: "It was such an important and successful album for AMORPHIS. Now, because we are in the middle of the touring cycle for 'Queen Of Time', I think we don't have time to concentrate on any other separate albums right now. Maybe we'll do it later on. We have some plans for a special tour next year, but I can't reveal anything more about it yet."

AMORPHIS will perform "Queen Of Time" — which was released last May via Nuclear Blast — in its entirety at select festival performances in the group's home country of Finland this summer, including Provinssi, which takes place on the island of Seinajoki, and Tuska, which is held each year in central Helsinki. They will be joined at the shows by former THE GATHERING singer Anneke Van Giersbergen.

"Queen Of Time" — the follow-up to 2015's "Under The Red Cloud" — includes the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and even choirs. In addition, this is the first time that people are able to hear AMORPHIS lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on the album, as he contributes a speech in Finnish.

PAUL STANLEY: GENE SIMMONS 'Is The Closest Thing I've Had To A Brother'

PAUL STANLEY: GENE SIMMONS 'Is The Closest Thing I've Had To A Brother'

In a brand new interview with the Arizona Republic, Paul Stanley spoke about his continued partnership with fellow KISS co-founder Gene Simmons — this despite their seeming like extremely different types of people. Asked how they've managed to keep working with each other for so long, Stanley responded: "I think maybe because of our backgrounds and our stock in terms of heritage or whatever. We believe in working hard for what we're given. We're not slackers. I also believe we've built a relationship on trust and a relationship on respect for each other. It doesn't mean we haven't fought or had our moments. But so do brothers. And I think Gene is the closest thing I've had to a brother. I can count on him in any situation. He's been there for me and I will always be there for him."

Having said all that, Stanley continued: "That doesn't negate the fact that we are very different people in how we react or respond to things. Or what we say. Do I agree with a lot of things he says or certain things he does? Of course not. Do I like certain behavior? No. But that's not what our relationship is about. Nor does it need to be. We are different people. But at the core of it, there are some basics that are very in tune with each other. And I think the years together have only cemented us that much closer."

In his 2014 memoir, "Face The Music: A Life Exposed", Stanley insisted that his relationship with Gene has slowly improved over time. But Stanley also wrote: "[Gene] chose to ignore his underlying issues and instead committed himself to creating an external façade and persona that, unfortunately, he felt required to knock down anyone who threatened his singularity in the spotlight." He also dismissed the notion that Simmons is some kind of financial genius. "Gene's most successful venture in business was promoting the perception that he was a savvy businessman," Paul wrote.

A few years back, Paul admitted that he "read a little bit of" Gene Simmons's book when it first came out but that he had a different recollection of some of their shared history. While reading Gene's book, Stanley felt, "Gee, I thought I did that. I thought that was me. You thought you were me," he said.

Last month, KISS kicked off its second farewell tour, dubbed "End Of The Road", which could last three years. The first leg of the global trek wraps April 13 in Birmingham, Alabama.

WEST BOUND Feat. CHAS WEST And ROY Z: 'Dance Of Life' Video

WEST BOUND Feat. CHAS WEST And ROY Z: 'Dance Of Life' Video

"Dance Of Life", the new video from WEST BOUND, the hard-hitting Los Angeles-area rock band featuring vocalist Chas West (RESURRECTION KINGS, BONHAM, LYNCH MOB), guitarist/producer Roy Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD, TRIBE OF GYPSIES), guitarist Jimmy Burkard, bassist Jason Cornwell and drummer Dave "Chilli" Moreno, can be seen below. The song is taken from WEST BOUND's debut album, "Volume I", which was released on February 22 on Frontiers Music Srl.

West says his "inspiration for WEST BOUND's sound came from "influences from the '70s and '80s classic hard rock, back when music was — in my opinion — real and passionate, from the heart and soul. Bands like LED ZEPPELIN, WHITESNAKE, DEEP PURPLE, FOREIGNER, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN, etc. were what we grew up on and we went back to our youth when writing the songs for the album."

If you remember the great bluesy hard rock explosion from the late '80s and early '90s with bands like TESLA, CINDERELLA, BADLANDS, TORA TORA and SALTY DOG and enjoy the modern throwback hard rock like RIVAL SONS, MASSIVE WAGONS, INGLORIOUS and the like, you are going to find WEST BOUND right up your alley.

On the first single and video, Chas explains that "the song 'Never Surrender' is one that Roy Z and I came up with in the studio. It's about going through struggles in life and never giving up on your dreams. People can relate to it in their own lives… It's a theme we all know as human beings. Sometimes the tough times can help you define your true character."

"Volume I" track listing:

01. Never Surrender

02. Dance Of Life

03. Ain't Gonna Drown

04. Beautiful Dream

05. Nothing

06. Roll The Bones

07. On My Own

08. Keeper Of The Flame

09. Turn To You

10. No Room For Sympathy

11. Traveller

Stephen LeBlanc provides keyboards on the album and Brian Tichy (ex-WHITESNAKE, OZZY OSBOURNE, FOREIGNER drummer/guitarist) played on and co-wrote two songs with Chas.

Lineup:

Vocals - Chas West

Guitar - Roy Z

Guitar - Jimmy Burkard

Video: Drummer JON RICE Fills In For BEHEMOTH's INFERNO In Tel Aviv And Istanbul

Video footage of current UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS and former JOB FOR A COWBOY and SCORPION CHILD drummer Jon Rice filling in for BEHEMOTH's Inferno in Tel Aviv, Israel and Istanbul, Turkey, can be viewed below. Inferno missed the dates due to an undisclosed injury but is expected to rejoin BEHEMOTH for their upcoming dates in Australia.

Rice previously filled in for Inferno (real name: Zbigniew Robert Promiński) during BEHEMOTH's 2017 summer North American tour as the support act for SLAYER and LAMB OF GOD.

After the 2017 tour was completed, BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski stated about Rice: "Filling in for Zbigniew Promiński, matching his charisma on stage and style is almost impossible. But you did GREAT job, brother, and the whole band, including Inferno himself, are very thankful for all the dedication and professionalism."

BEHEMOTH is continuing to tour in support of its latest studio album, "I Loved You At Your Darkest", which was released last October via Metal Blade.

During a recent appearance on RadioVegas.Rocks's "Chaotic Radio", Taylor was asked if he would ever consider trying to cross over to country music, like other rockers have done in recent years. "No," he responded. "Even coming from Iowa — fuck no! Absolutely not. And it's not to say that I couldn't write stuff like that. My interest would be more singer-songwriter kind of vibe, like SQUEEZE or something like that. Or — and I've actually been thinking about doing something like this — putting together a quartet or a quintet and doing a jazz album, like a dark jazz album, [and] recording it live in a room. It won't sell shit. It would really just be for my own fucking personal collection… 'Cause I love jazz. A lot of people don't realize that — I listen to a lot of '40s and '50s jazz. And there is this… the haunting stuff that [Billie] Holiday would do, the older stuff that Charlie Parker would do, when he was really fucked up — that would be the stuff that I would be closer to. And I've got, actually, jazzy versions of some of my own songs that I would love to try. Probably something like 'Prosthetics' [by SLIPKNOT], I think would be really, really cool. And then 'Bother' — I've got a really cool jazzy version of 'Bother' that could be really cool."

Taylor went on to say that he does occasionally come up with music that could legitimately fall into the country genre. "Honestly, I write stuff like that all the time," he said. "'St. Marie', on the new 'Hydrograd' album [from STONE SOUR], was a leftover from some stuff that I'd written that had a very country vibe to it. But it was more California country that the twangy. So it was cool. It was more like the six- or seven-chord vibe."

Taylor said in a 2016 interview that it would be "super greedy" of him to launch a solo career — at least for now. Speaking with RockSverige.se, Taylor explained: "I've been getting questions about solo stuff forever. But it's a good problem to have. But, at the same time, I'm in two fantastic bands. Why would I ever?"

He added: "Unless I wanted to get super greedy, why would I try to split off and do something else. I'm very fulfilled by the music that I get to make with both bands. Is there a solo album in me? Yes. But it's not gonna be for a few more years."

Taylor spoke a while back about what he thought a solo album from him might sound like. "For me, the stuff that I write is, it would be like a cross between the [FOO FIGHTERS], SOCIAL [DISTORTION] and THE REPLACEMENTS, you know," he told The Pulse Of Radio. "I mean, real Midwestern rock. Real, just open chords, good time rock, you know. And damn the critics, basically. That's the stuff I write and that's the stuff I've always tried to write."

TOMMY LEE Calls DONALD TRUMP 'A F**khead'

TOMMY LEE Calls DONALD TRUMP 'A F**khead'

Tommy Lee has once again slammed President Donald Trump, calling the former host of NBC's reality show "The Apprentice" a "fuckhead."

The MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer made his comment in a tweet early this morning. He wrote: "Trump! You're such a fuckhead"

It is not clear what prompted Lee's latest outburst.

The rocker has criticized Trump a number of times in the past, most recently in December when he referred to the 45th U.S. president as an "asshole" and labeled his supporters "dumbasses." A year earlier, he called the president "a fucking idiot" and said the people who voted for him are "dickheads."

After Trump was elected president in November 2016, Lee expressed his disbelief on Twitter, writing: "What the actual fuck is happening?"

This past November, Tommy lambasted Trump for blaming California's recent wildfires on poor forest management. "Can you be anymore insensitive you fucking moron" Lee tweeted.

Lee admitted in a 2008 interview with CNN that he was not a political junkie and he rarely watched television or listened to news reports. "Man, tell you the truth, I only listen to music," he said.

Tommy and his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates recently recorded four new songs for the film adaptation of the band's biography, "The Dirt - Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band", which will be released in March. The movie, which was helmed by "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" director Jeff Tremaine, was picked up by Netflix after being previously developed at Focus Features and before that at Paramount.

JOHN PETRUCCI Says Recording DREAM THEATER's New Album Was 'A Bonding Experience As Friends And As Musicians'

JOHN PETRUCCI Says Recording DREAM THEATER's New Album Was 'A Bonding Experience As Friends And As Musicians'

DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci recently spoke with Metal Wani. The full conversation can be streamed below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the group's new album, "Distance Over Time":

John: "This one, just by the nature of how we did it, it really lent itself to make this kind of record a little bit more rootsy, more primal, more organic. The whole band went away to a location together. It was kind of like being on guys' hunting trip or camping trip or something, like a retreat — no distractions, no commuting, just being together and being able to hang out, long days playing music, write, take a break, barbecues, hang out at night drinking bourbon, wake up the next day, make some bacon and eggs and do the whole thing again. Just the environment in which we did it and the way in which we did it contributed to [make] this more of like a bonding experience as friends and as musicians. The music, I think, it really oozes that feeling of connection and rootsiness. I'm really happy with the way it came out."

On deciding to record the album together in an isolated setting:

John: "We really did enjoy each other's company. As much as we spend a lot of time together on the road, as long as we've known each other, it's not the same when you're traveling and you have the show, and then you have a day off, or you're in the studio, [when] you say goodnight and you drive back home. When you're able to just go and hang out and just talk and watch TV together or have a meal or cook or whatever, it creates a different kind of environment. Everybody felt very much a part of what was going on and very invested in the outcome. You're doing this project together and feeling really positive and proud of what you're doing. It really was a great environment to do it in."

On the new song "Out Of Reach":

John: "That's a funny song, because we really didn't intend to write a ballad on this record. One day, I walked into the studio, and I just started playing my baritone guitar. It's a very deep, low-tuned guitar, and I started playing this clean thing. Next thing I know, Jordan [Rudess] starts playing along with me, and we just sort of very naturally composed a song on the spot, just improvising. When we finished, we were, like, 'Wow, that's really cool. We really should record that.' It wasn't our intention at all. It was written in the time it took for us to play it. It was really off-the-cuff... We weren't really sure we would put it on the record. It was just a really pretty piece, like, 'Let's do something with this.' I think it ended up being a nice part of the record in the end."

On the high placement of drummer Mike Mangini's cymbals:

John: "Being the caring person that he is, I think Mike originally raised the cymbals out of the way so they wouldn't interfere with James [LaBrie] onstage. Because of James's height and him holding his microphone, and the drum riser, the cymbals are like right at his head level, so I think part of the reason he pushed them out of the way was to help out James. And the other reason, if I'm not mistaken — you'd have to really ask Mike — but I think he wanted to create more of a window, like, more visual access so you can see what he's actually doing. It doesn't physically look very convenient. [Laughs] I don't know how he does that. That has to be hell on your shoulders, but only Mike could do that."

On the band's experimental nature:

John: "It's hard if you're somebody who's going to turn DREAM THEATER on to a new listener. It's hard to pick what type of song to play, because they kind of come from a different side of us a lot of the times. You might have a song like 'The Spirit Carries On' or 'Another Day' or even 'Out Of Reach' that [is] very sort of emotional and melodic and more ballady. Then we have all the technical crazy stuff, and then we have records like 'Train Of Thought' [and] 'Systematic Chaos' that are very heavy and dark. I think for us, what keeps us going and motivated is that creative edge, that spark to try different and new things and explore. It's part of being a progressive band, which we're fine labeling ourselves as. It's sort of, like, in the nature of that — you try different things, you try new things, new sounds. In the end, records are all an experience. To me, it's always been like watching a movie — an event that you sit down for. I remember doing that as a kid, as a teenager, as a young man — putting on a YES record or a RUSH record or a PINK FLOYD record and just listening to the whole thing. You experience it the way you experience a movie. When you think about things in those sort of broad strokes with that bigger picture mentality, it makes you a little more open-minded to try a range of different things. This way, a record isn't just one-dimensional. As you're listening, you get taken on this ride, and you're not sure what's going to be around the next corner. That unpredictablility, I think, is really what makes it interesting, and keeps us really motivated."

DREAM THEATER's 14th studio album, "Distance Over Time", will be released on February 22. The disc, which marks the band's first for their new label InsideOut Music, was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, mixed by Ben Grosse and mastered by Tom Baker.

* BRUJERIA only

BRUJERIA's most recent album, "Pocho Aztlan", was the band's first release since "Brujerizmo" came out in 2000 via Roadrunner. It was recorded over the course of many years and at several studios around the globe. The end result was mixed by Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, THE EXPLOITED).

The "Pocho Aztlan" title translates to "Wasted Promised Land," a combination of Aztlán, the fabled ancestral home of the Aztecs, and the term pocho, which native Mexicans use to refer — not always kindly — to their counterparts born in the States. Frontman Brujo himself is a pocho, a man caught between two worlds. Many pochos are not exactly accepted with open arms in Mexico. Meanwhile, they're too often regarded as second-class citizens in their adopted U.S. home. Brujo has transcended both scenarios through the power of BRUJERIA's uncompromising grindcore and death metal. His all-Spanish lyrics are as vivid as they are effective: Bona fide tales from the frontlines of the drug war, the racial divide, and the battle for the border. "A lot of BRUJERIA songs are true stories," Brujo says. "And if they haven't happened yet, they will happen."

In a 2017 interview with Myglobalmind, Brujo stated about Donald Trump's proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border: "Well, things like that wall get me going, because it gets people to hate again. For the last 15 to 20 years, the hate was low. It was disappearing. Then Trump comes along, and everybody hates everybody. The blacks hate the whites, people driving cars on sidewalks, killing anti-fascist people. All that came back. I'm old enough to know what it was like in the '60s and '70s, and I see it coming back so fast."

He continued: "I lived in the Los Angeles area my whole life, so I've seen it from the hippies all the way to now, and it got BRUJERIA active again. It gets me mad. I might end up in jail sooner or later, but it's all good."

Watch DISTURBED Perform In Washington D.C.

Watch DISTURBED Perform In Washington D.C.

Fan-filmed video footage of DISTURBED's February 21 concert at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. can be seen below.

DISTURBED released its seventh studio album, "Evolution", in October.

Frontman David Draiman recently revealed that DISTURBED will no longer tour at the frequency he and his bandmates were known for in the past. Speaking about the group's "Evolution" trek, which kicked off January 9 in San Diego, California, the singer told KROCK host Rainman: "One thing I will caution everyone on is because we're doing this tour the way that we are, because we're doing arenas on our own, because we're doing the two-hour-long set, because we're targeting things the way that we are, it's not gonna be as frequent as DISTURBED used to be. So when it does happen, come, 'cause it may not be a year or two or three till we see you. So, come on out — be a part of it. Let's make it a night to remember."

He continued: "The days of just the machine rolling and rolling and rolling are just past where we're at as people, as individuals. We're all family men now, and there's a yin and yang. And not only that — but it'll end up being healthier for everybody. I think that instead of people's expectation that we're coming around more often, if they view that we're not coming around as often, then each time we do, it really becomes a celebration, it really becomes an event for everyone — like a big family reunion. So I think it'll end up working out for the best."

DISTURBED's North American tour is making stops in cities like Denver, Houston, Nashville, New York, Pittsburgh, and Toronto before wrapping up in Rosemont, Illinois on March 8. Support on the 27-city jaunt is coming from Canada's THREE DAYS GRACE.

Following the U.S. leg of the tour, DISTURBED will travel overseas to play in Spain, Czech Republic, Italy, and more countries throughout Europe. Their last slated show, as of right now, is on July 20 at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

FOREIGNER: Watch 'Double Vision' From 'Live At The Rainbow '78' Restored And Remastered Performance

FOREIGNER: Watch 'Double Vision' From 'Live At The Rainbow '78' Restored And Remastered Performance

FOREIGNER and Eagle Vision have announced the release of the concert film, "Foreigner Live At The Rainbow '78", which is available on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital video from March 15.

A performance clip of the song "Double Vision", taken from "Foreigner Live At The Rainbow '78", can be seen below.

After the band's self-titled debut album had spent a year in the U.S. Top 20, rock's conquering heroes played a sold-out show at London's celebrated Rainbow Theatre on April 27, 1978. Opening with "Long, Long Way From Home", fans were treated to a magnificent display of musicianship and performance, including hit singles "Feels Like The First Time" and "Cold As Ice", as well an exclusive preview of two tracks from the upcoming "Double Vision" album, "Hot Blooded" and "Double Vision".

Featuring the classic FOREIGNER lineup of Mick Jones (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Lou Gramm (lead vocals, percussion), Ian McDonald (guitars, keyboards, sax, flute, backing vocals), Al Greenwood (keyboards, synthesizer), Ed Gagliardi (bass, backing vocals) and Dennis Elliott (drums, backing vocals), this show captures the essence of a group who would go on to become one of the world's best-selling bands of all time.

Forty years later, this definitive performance by the original band has been restored from the original film reels, remixed and remastered for this release.

"1978 was an absolutely magical time for the band," remembers Mick Jones, "and to come back over to the U.K. to play a headline show at the legendary Rainbow really was a dream come true. The audience was amazing that night. We couldn't have wished for a better show."

As FOREIGNER's music continues to resonate with fans old and new, the band celebrated their 40th anniversary playing amphitheaters and arenas throughout 2018.

GRAND MAGUS: Lyric Video For 'Wolf God' Title Track

GRAND MAGUS: Lyric Video For 'Wolf God' Title Track

The official lyric video for "Wolf God", the title track of the upcoming album from Swedish metallers GRAND MAGUS, can be seen below. Due on April 19 via Nuclear Blast, the follow-up to 2016's "Sword Songs" was recorded at Sweetspot Studio in Sweden with producer Staffan Karlsson (ARCH ENEMY, FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS).

According to a press release, "Wolf God" "rises over the heavy metal scene majestically and lets the guitar riffs speak for themselves.

"The groove and heaviness that were featured on the successful predecessor can also be found on the new, ninth studio album which once again holds a number of future classics.

"As the majority of the songs were recorded on the first take, they have an honest, diverse and yet down-to-earth sound that envelops the trio's true power."

This cover artwork was created by acclaimed artist Anthony Roberts.

The band comments: "For the third time, the magic skill and imagination of Anthony Roberts has given birth to the cover artwork for a GRAND MAGUS album. This time the forest, the moon and obviously the wolf take center stage. Not just any wolf though… beware his fury. This is the 'Wolf God'!"

OVERKILL Releases Music Video For 'Welcome To The Garden State' Song

OVERKILL Releases Music Video For 'Welcome To The Garden State' Song

The official music video for the song "Welcome To The Garden State" from New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's 19th studio album, "The Wings Of War", which is being released today (Friday, February 22) via Nuclear Blast. The disc was recorded at Gear Recording Studio in New Jersey, SKH Studio in Florida and Jrod Productions with engineering handled by bassist D.D. Verni and guitarist Dave Linsk. The album was produced by the band while Chris "Zeuss" Harris took care of the mixing and mastering. Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH) was again enlisted to create the artwork for the album.

Comments vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth: "Not before in our video history have we presented something so artistically seedy. This due to the brilliant-yet-twisted vision of the editing-room genius, behind-the-camera magic and damn tenacity of Mr. Tommy Jones; a good-standing card-carrying Jersey Boy, who did the band and the state proud. We had verbalized the story line to Tommy, who fully got it and we all created something to be proud of. So when you visit the Garden State, see or hear something that is different for you and you think, 'Hmmmm that's not the way we do it at home,' remember this: you're not at home anymore... are you?"

"The Wings Of War" marks OVERKILL's recording debut with drummer Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM), who joined the band in 2017.

"The Wings Of War" track listing:

01. Last Man Standing

02. Believe In The Fight

03. Head Of A Pin

04. Bat Shit Crazy

05. Distortion

06. A Mother's Prayer

07. Welcome To The Garden State

08. Where Few Dare To Walk

09. Out On The Road-Kill

10. Hole In My Soul

Ellsworth said: "It was a blast making 'The Wings Of War'! It is something old feeling new again, as our chemistry was altered by the addition of Jason Bittner. I was curious from the get-go, how would it pan out? I think what we accomplished here is a new, upgraded OVERKILL that embraced the new chemistry, while taking our roots into the present. The new formula produced not only more raw power, but more places to go with melody, a win, win. The key is being not only interested in the change, but part of it. I'll tell you what, it's still fun as hell making OVERKILL records."

Last year, Ellsworth told Brian Aberback of Patch.com about the musical direction of OVERKILL's new material: "What I notice about it is that there are parts of it that delve into really classic heavy metal that are spawned off the riff. There's kind of a brutal metal riff and then there's a heavy metal riff. The brutal riff being more in the modern sense of OVERKILL but the classic riff goes back into the feel of 'Feel The Fire', 'Taking Over', 'The Years Of Decay' kind of influence.

"I think what we're doing is staying with that classic riff but adding the brutality after," he continued. "So it has the vibe of classic heavy metal with that spawned aggression off of it. Obviously, we're not going to be progressive or off the tracks with where we're going. It's OVERKILL. But the internal end of that is really exciting because we notice every little different nuance in it."

Asked what Jason has brought to the band, Ellsworth said: "He's put a lot of work into the album and his excitement has spread to all of us. He's the first person in this band who's deeply, technically trained. That's one of the most exciting things about this project. This guy is pretty close to a virtuoso when hitting the skins."

OVERKILL is:

Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth - Vocals

D.D. Verni - Bass

Dave Linsk - Lead Guitar

Derek Tailer - Rhythm Guitar

Jason Bittner - Drums

DOKKEN Will 'Probably' Reunite With GEORGE LYNCH For M3 ROCK FESTIVAL Appearance, Says DON DOKKEN

DOKKEN Will 'Probably' Reunite With GEORGE LYNCH For M3 ROCK FESTIVAL Appearance, Says DON DOKKEN

Don Dokken has told Metal Forever in a new interview that DOKKEN will "probably" headline this year's edition of the M3 Rock Festival as a one-off reunion show with the band's former guitarist George Lynch.

DOKKEN's classic lineup — including Lynch and bassist/vocalist Jeff Pilson — reunited for a short Japanese tour in the fall of 2016. The trek marked the first time in 21 years the four musicians had hit the road together.

Don told Metal Forever (hear audio below): "We did the reunion tour. In fact, we might be doing one more show with the original lineup, with George — one show. We'll probably be headlining M3 this year with George."

The M3 Rock Festival will take place May 3-5 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

According to Don, he has been getting along with his former bandmates much better than they did back in DOKKEN's heyday.

"We were younger [then]," he said. "We were in our 20s. There was a lot of drugs, debauchery, alcohol, a lot of egos — all that stuff interfered with DOKKEN going on forever. But now we're in our 60s, so I think hopefully that's all in the wind."

Don also talked about the progress of the songwriting and recording sessions for DOKKEN's new album — the group's first since 2012's "Broken Bones".

"We've got a lot going on," he said. "We're probably gonna have a couple of records out for the summer that are retro records. One is a bunch of tapes that I found that were unreleased tracks in the '70s, when I was in my early 20s. We're putting that out hopefully for the summer. I'm putting out my solo record, which is nine or 10 ballads, 'Solitary', in the summer. So we can prep up for the brand new record. The problem — I guess a good problem — [is that] we're booked so heavily. We have shows all the way till August, so we're trying to coordinate, when do we record between shows? It's hard. 'Cause when I go in the studio, when I put my head into it, I like to just stay there. But it's kind of hard when you fly on a Thursday, you play a show Friday, Saturday and Sunday, come home on Monday, sleep it off till Tuesday, get your legs up and then you record two days and you're back on the road."

In a 2018 interview, Don said that DOKKEN's upcoming album would be "a straight-up, straight-ahead" classic-sounding record. "I don't want to plagiarize myself, but I'd like to do, like, 'Tooth And Nail' meets 'Under Lock And Key' meets 'Back For The Attack'," he said. "If I could do that, that's what I think people would be happy with. The dilemma is to try to do that thirty years later without just ripping myself off and regurgitating old DOKKEN riffs, but I do want to make a straight-up, straight-ahead, catchy choruses, cool guitar riffs, burning guitar solos, nice grooves. That's where my mind is right now. I just want to go straight ahead and make a classic-sounding DOKKEN record."

Lynch's most recent appearance with DOKKEN took place last September when he joined Don Dokken (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Brown (drums, backing vocals) and Chris McCarvill (bass, backing vocals) on stage at the Grand RockTember VI festival at Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater in Hinckley, Minnesota to perform set of the band's classic songs.

Since completing the Japanese reunion dates, DOKKEN has continued to perform with the group's current lineup — featuring Dokken, Brown, McCarvill and guitarist Jon Levin — save for a handful of shows in late 2017 and last year that saw guitarist Ira Black (LIZZY BORDEN, VICIOUS RUMORS) fill in for Levin.

A DOKKEN concert DVD focusing on the band's reunion tour, "Return To The East Live (2016)", was made available last year.

Video Premiere: BACKYARD BABIES' '44 Undead'

Video Premiere: BACKYARD BABIES' '44 Undead'

"44 Undead", the new video from Swedish rockers BACKYARD BABIES, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album "Sliver & Gold", which will be released on March 1 via Century Media Records. The disc will contain 10 sizzling new songs following the exact same recipe that has made BACKYARD BABIES one of the most consistent rock bands of our time: a perfect balance between sleazy, punky, all-out party rock 'n' roll on the one hand, and decidedly mature, thoroughly melancholic tunes on the other.

While catchy sing-a-long smashers like the first single "Shovin' Rocks", album opener "Good Morning Midnight", the anthemic "Bad Seeds" or "44 Undead" will have you fist-pumping and foot stompin' along with your left foot in a cowboy boot and your right paw in a Chuck Taylor sneaker, the beautiful ballad-like album closer "Laugh Now, Cry Later" will cause you to shed a tear or two into your Jack and Coke.

"Sliver & Gold" track listing:

01. Good Morning Midnight

02. Simple Being Sold

03. Shovin' Rocks

04. Ragged Flag

05. Yes To All No

06. Bad Seeds

07. 44 Undead

08. Sliver And Gold

09. A Day Late In My Dollar Shorts

10. Laugh Now Cry Later

According to BACKYARD BABIES guitarist Dregen (real name: Andreas Tyrone Svensson), the "Sliver and Gold" title is a play on words.

"It is going to be a bit like if you cut yourself with a piece of sliver," he told Metal Casino. "It's a bit like our career. It's been golden moments, but it's also been kind of rough times. It's going to be hopefully the greatest BACKYARD BABIES album [yet]."

Regarding first single "Shovin' Rocks", Dregen said: "Since we're celebrating thirty years together as a band, the single is a bit like... it's kind of like a statement about how it is to play in a band in a three-minute song, which is kind of hard," Dregen said. "I think that the whole next album is going to be like the gold watch then you're at a [job] for a long time. It's going to be our own kind of, like, celebration — not just to our own band, but to the music form of rock 'n' roll."

Dregen said that the group approached the album's recording sessions in an unfamiliar manner. "We've done it for the first time after thirty years in a different way," he said. "Before, we've been writing the whole album, and then when we're ready with the songs, [we] choose the songs, enter the studio and start recording it. Now, we're writing songs, but when we have three or four songs that we think are great, we're entering the studio, we record these three or four songs, and we mix the songs and master the songs and they are, like, totally ready. Then we go back into writing, and we write new songs. We record, like, four EPs, and then we put it together as an album."

He added that he prefers the abbreviated studio sessions to more traditional album-length recording process. "Sometimes when you go into the studio and you have, like, 14 songs, it gets a little bit industrial," he said. "It's almost like going to work — it's like, 'Okay, drums for this song, next...' You lose kind of the heart of the song, because it gets very mechanic [sic]. Recording three or four songs, I always like. I love recording EPs or singles, because you have full control over what you do."

BACKYARD BABIES officially reunited in 2014, five years after they announced that they were going on an "indefinite hiatus." A new album, "Four By Four", arrived in 2015.

BACKYARD BABIES is:

Nicke Borg - lead vocals, guitar

Dregen - lead guitar, vocals

Johan Blomquist - bass

Peder Carlsson - drums

Listen To DUFF MCKAGAN's New Solo Single, 'Tenderness'

Listen To DUFF MCKAGAN's New Solo Single, 'Tenderness'

Duff McKagan has released "Tenderness", the first single from the GUNS N' ROSES bassist's upcoming solo album.

"The real point of this record, and the lyrics for 'Tenderness', is not for me to be some damn politician or some other voice to add to what is already way too much noise," McKagan said in a statement.

"This is a song of unity and peace… and I want this record to be a meditation and to bring maybe some healing, if that is not too high-handed or lofty of a goal," he continued. "I can use what marginal voice I have as an artist, to hopefully help arrest what seems like a fall. As a father, I must say and do something now… because I love my girls and my wife, and I love my country, and I feel I must be strong and use my voice now, do it while I am able, or perhaps never get a chance ever again."

Duff recently announced his first solo tour dates of 2019, which will take place this spring.

Joining McKagan at the two shows — May 31 at the Theatre Of The Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and May 31 at City Winery in Washington D.C. — will be singer-songwriter Shooter Jennings, who produced Duff's new disc.

McKagan and Jennings began recording the album back in March 2018. The two worked out of Station House studios, located in Echo Park, California, writing and recording in between McKagan's tour with seminal rock band GUNS N' ROSES and the release of Jennings's eponymous album, "Shooter".

"From the start of the development of this record, 'Tenderness' stood out as a focal point," says Jennings. "I was almost scared to cut it too early — before we had really mined the sound of the album. I knew we had one shot to do it right with feeling. After it was done and we had a first mix, I wrote Duff and said, 'This song has to come out right now!' It has a simple message of celebrating life and each other and for everyone to take it easy on one another. It offered an empathetic solution for a divisive time in the world: Tenderness."

The album will be McKagan's musical follow-up to 2015's best-selling book, "How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions)".

Speaking to Thomann Music at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, California, Duff said about the genesis of his new solo record: "I've written a couple of books. And this last tour that I was just on was two and a half years [long], and we traveled around the world, like, four times. And it was a very interesting time. The last two and a half years has been interesting in England, interesting in America [and] interesting in the rest of the rest of the world as well. And I'm a history reader. All I do, really, is just read every night. I like being informed, I like traveling, talking to people and knowing what the lay of the land is wherever I go. And it's evolved over the 30 years that I've been traveling. It interests me. Instead of writing a book about that, which is what I was thinking of doing, especially the climate that we've evolved into — sort of more divided… This has happened many times before. History repeats itself, but people get pretty [worked] up not realizing this has happened before.

"So I wrote these little vignettes that were gonna be starts of stories I was gonna write about, but they became songs," he continued. "[They're] kind of observational songs… And I'm really proud of it. It's like another book for me. It's a launching of a book as opposed to… It's not a rock record, so I don't know if people will be surprised or not. But I thought it was important for me now as a father and a citizen…

"I've read so many goddamn books on history, and I still do, that I thought maybe it's time for me to just point out some things that I've observed," Duff added. "Not pointing fingers at anybody, 'cause that does no good. I feel like I have a voice that I can kind of say, 'This has happened before. Here's what happened then. It's happening again. Let's not fall for it again.'"

McKagan went on to say that he played acoustic guitar and bass on the record, with accompaniment from Shooter's band.

When Duff's new solo album was first announced in December, Jennings said that he "felt it was a really important record that had to be heard. The songs have so much heart and are so musical that I could just hear all the arrangements immediately and I could really feel them," he said.

About his connection to McKagan, Jennings said: "I met Duff right after I moved to Los Angeles nearly twenty years ago. I was such a massive GUNS N' ROSES fan when I was younger. I'd say that they had a lot to do with me even moving to L.A. But there was some kind of magnetic force I guess that kept us orbiting each other over the years. When the idea of collaborating with him on this album came up, I was very eager to get the job as producer. I felt like the music this man made was part of the fabric of my own musical identity and that I would really love building a record with him. Once we sat down and started going over the songs he had, I instantly knew that the two of us were going to be a great fit together."

McKagan's last solo album, "Believe In Me", arrived in 1993. His LOADED outfit released "The Taking" in 2011.

ENTOMBED To Release 'Clandestine - Live' In May

ENTOMBED To Release 'Clandestine - Live' In May

ENTOMBED invites you to hear the unique experience of the band performing its second album "Clandestine" in full live for the first time ever for the album's 25th anniversary on November 12, 2016 at Malmö Live in Malmö, Sweden.

Joining original ENTOMBED members Alex Hellid, Uffe Cederlund (guitar) and Nicke Andersson (drums) at the concert were Robert Andersson (vocals) and Nicke's half brother Edvin Aftonfalk (bass), both formerly of the Swedish death metal band MORBUS CHRON.

Threeman Recordings presents "Act 2: The Entombed" performance — a concert in two acts based entirely on the Swedish band's acclaimed album "Clandestine" from 1991. It is a unique concert where the pioneering album is played from beginning to end. From the opening track "Living Dead" to closer "Through The Collonades". In the first act, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra And Choir performs "Clandestine", arranged for orchestra by Thomas Von Wachenfeldt (WACHENFELDT), with the original members from ENTOMBED sitting in as part of the ensemble. In the second act, the band performs the entire album live in the original version for the very first time.

Hellid comments: "It is amazing to experience the musical journey with an orchestra and we really enjoyed the experience."

Conductor Josef Rhedin adds: "Allowing ENTOMBED's suggestive music to meet Symphony Orchestra And Choir is a very creative and exciting concept. Composer Thomas Von Wachenfeldt's arrangement contains challenges for both orchestral musicians and for me as a conductor, as the starting point has been to interpret the 'Clandestine' in a classical, symphonic format, rather than plank the music outright."

"Clandestine - Live" will be released on CD, CD bundle with exclusive t-shirt and 2LP 180-gram deluxe vinyl including a poster on Threeman Recordings on May 17. Pre-order here.

The ENTOMBED band that performed at Malmö Live is not to be confused with ENTOMBED A.D., which features vocalist Lars Göran Petrov alongside Olle Dahlstedt (drums), Nico Elgstrand (guitar) and Guilherme Miranda (guitar).

Hellid and Petrov have been embroiled in a legal battle over the ENTOMBED name for several years.

Swedish metallers Enforcer recently announced the release of their highly anticipated new studio album Zenith, their first record in 4 years. Today, the quartet has launched a music video in support of the stomping first single, "Die For The Devil," to give their fans a first taster of their forthcoming offering.

Guitarist/vocalist Olof Wikstrand comments, "'Die For The Devil' is the opening track of Zenith. We wanted a huge intro track where the greatness lies in the simplicity and where we can integrate the audience into a song at an early stage. The video is once again directed by our childhood friend Gustav Ohman Spjuth who has been directing pretty much all other videos we have done."
