METALLICA's LARS ULRICH: Making New Music Is 'An Essential Part Of Our Existence As People'During an appearance on the latest episode of the "SmartLess" podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich spoke about the changes in the music industry that he and his bandmates have had to contend with over the last four decades. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, obviously it's changed quite a bit. And in your guys' industry, some of the same things that we were dealing with 20 years ago are happening. Big picture, and I know this may sound like a little bit of a cop-out, I'm just happy that fucking anybody cares about what we're doing and shows up to see us play and still stream or buy or steal our records or whatever. The engagement itself, I think, is the triumph and the victory. Obviously, it's way, way harder for a lot of the younger bands nowadays because they don't get the support of the record companies for basic things — just like gear and tour support. So there is very much of a different thing."
Lars continued: "Talent, good songwriting eventually will find a home with a larger group of people. And whether you do it from your bedroom or through a record company or whatever, I believe that everybody will be heard eventually if they're talented. But it is tough. It's tough for a lot of the younger bands out there and for a lot of the… The bands that 20 years ago could make a living playing clubs or theaters are having a harder time now because they don't sell as many records and you really have to be out there and pushing it."
Regarding how METALLICA goes about making its music available to the masses nowadays, Lars said: "The key thing as an artist… I think when you write songs, and it's the same with you guys, you wanna start a conversation, you want people to engage, you want people to hear your music. How they hear it, I guess, eventually becomes second tier. And you understand that it's a changed model than it was 25 years ago, 50 years ago, or whatever.
"I think that in our band, we just love writing songs and we love making records and we love the creative process, and that's... There are a lot of bands that have been around as long as we have that simply don't wanna make records anymore because it either doesn't work for them or the business model of it doesn't work for them," he continued. "And I can't speak for everybody else. We love writing songs. Being creative is a significant part of who we are. And it gives us a chance to… What makes us stay functioning is that we go from writing to recording to playing gigs to writing to home. We're always changing up what we're doing so we never get stuck in the sameness over and over. So we're not always on the road, we're not always in the studio, we're not always taking our kids to school or whatever. We're not always doing the same thing, so you have to kind of keep just breaking it up and changing what you're doing.
"Obviously I understand that we're exceptionally fortunate, but our success gives us the opportunity to sort of do all that," Ulrich added. "But if somebody said, 'You can't write or make records anymore,' we would probably stop what we're doing because it's such an essential part of just our existence as people."
METALLICA completed the first North American swing of "M72" world tour September 9 in Glendale, Arizona. The band will make a headlining appearance October 8 at Power Trip at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, before "M72" resumes with its next "No Repeat Weekend" taking place November 3 and 5 at the Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, the 46-show "M72" trek launched in Amsterdam on April 27 and will include shows all over Europe and North America through 2024. Each "No Repeat Weekend" on "M72" features two completely different setlists and support lineups. The "M72" tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the "I Disappear" full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Opening acts for the tour include PANTERA, MAMMOTH WVH, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, ICE NINE KILLS, ARCHITECTS, VOLBEAT and GRETA VAN FLEET.
METALLICA's latest album, "72 Seasons", sold 146,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marked the band's 12th Top 10-charting album, of which eight have reached the top two.
"72 Seasons" had the biggest week for any rock or hard rock album since TOOL's "Fear Inoculum" arrived in September 2019 with 270,000 equivalent album units.
"72 Seasons" was released on April 14 via METALLICA's own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and Ulrich, it was METALLICA's first full-length collection of new material since "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct".
In the seven years since the arrival of "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", METALLICA has reissued some of its classic albums, released a second live album with the San Francisco Symphony, commissioned a covers album featuring the likes of GHOST, VOLBEAT, WEEZER, Corey Taylor and THE HU, and landed on the Billboard songs chart with "Master Of Puppets" after a prominent placement in the hit Netflix show "Stranger Things".
This week, it’s tennis player turned rock legend, @larsulrich of @Metallica. Welcome to @SmartLess. @SeanHayes@batemanjason@arnettwill

MURASHITA Launch New Single "Depraved Sanctity" Feat. Past / Present Members Of SUFFOCATION, CHIMAIRA, VOICE OF DISSENT; Lyric Video"Depraved Sanctity" is the new single from acclaimed metal musician Masaki Murashita. This epic, blistering single is his first song in eight years, offering a complex approach to melodic harmonies while still retaining an aggressive stance and showcasing a virtuosic performance.
Check out the official lyric video below, and stream the track here.
Masaki Murashita comments: "Wow, it's been 8 years since the release of Inescapable Damnation. Time flies! I'm still breathing and it was great to work with Kevin and Rodney again on this new song! I hope you enjoy and more songs are on the way!"
Murashita exploded onto the scene to showcase his ability to provide scorching riffs, powerful songwriting, and aggressive vocal style through his modern thrash band Hemoptysis in 2007. Their debut full length, Misanthropic Slaughter was met with major critical praise from a variety of critics. After their demise, he formed a self-titled solo project, releasing the debut EP, Inescapable Damnation in 2015.
"Depraved Sanctity" ensures the wait for new music has been worth it by including two big names in the scene: Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Six Feet Under, Chimaira) on drums and Rodney Mcglothlin (Voice Of Dissent) on bass. Blackened death elements edged with layered melodies add to a dynamic composition that continues to push Murashita’s sound further.

LAST IN LINE's ANDREW FREEMAN Is Planning To Release Solo Song Before End Of 2023In a new interview with Shawn Ratches of Laughingmonkeymusic, LAST IN LINE singer Andrew Freeman was asked about the possibility of him writing and recording solo material in the future. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I actually started working on some songs through the pandemic and [I have] lots of demos. I have one [song] that I was gonna release and I just have to do a video for it. I don't know if I want to release a full album, because every time that you put a song out, I feel like it should have a video accompaniment to it — a performance video or some sort of music video for it. I have one song that I wanna put out and I'll probably do that before the end of the year. And we'll see where it goes."
Andrew continued: "I'm not super motivated. I'll be honest, I'm not super motivated, just because I think I would just want to put out music for myself. Because I have a studio and I do record a lot, but I do get a lot of — outside of the band — I do get a lot of projects that come in and I get paid to sing on those projects and I perform with those guys. So, me doing it for myself, I don't think it's gonna be very profitable. It's more for my head than anything else. And I can't see myself going out and doing the Andrew Freeman tour.
"For me, I'm always thinking, does it make sense?" he explained. "How do I make it make sense? Because, for me, I have a limited amount of time — not a limited amount, but I have other things that I wanna do. And I don't wanna sit in the studio all day. I wanna spend time with my kids. I have a home I wanna take care of. I don't like to pay anybody to do anything. So I have to earn and all that stuff."
Freeman added: "When you're in your twenties and you're, like, 'I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna get there. I'm gonna get there,' it makes a lot of sense to do it. But for me, I know I should probably do it because there's people who would be interested, but does it warrant doing my own material when I could be writing my own material with somebody else. I like having a writing partner. I like writing with [fellow LAST IN LINE members] Vinny [Appice], Vivian [Campbell] and Phil [Soussan]. I liked writing with the BULLETBOYS guys when we wrote some stuff that we never released; I like writing with them. I like when people hire me and I write to their stuff. So I'm always writing. It's just not always my thing."
Based in Las Vegas, Freeman is an American rock vocalist and guitarist who has played for a number of bands, most notably punk rock group THE OFFSPRING and hard rock guitarist George Lynch's LYNCH MOB. Freeman is currently the frontman for the hard rock band LAST IN LINE, which features some of the reunited original members of the band DIO.
Freeman joined punk band THE OFFSPRING as a touring guitarist and backup vocalist on their 2008 tour for the album "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace". In 2010, Freeman joined HURRICANE as the lead vocalist, performing a few shows with the band before leaving in 2013. In 2012, Freeman joined the original members of DIO as lead vocalist to form the band LAST IN LINE. LAST IN LINE has released three albums so far: 2016's "Heavy Crown", 2019's "II" and 2023's "Jericho".
Freeman has performed on several tours as the lead vocalist with George Lynch, including a feature on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and a headline show at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.
In 2018, Freeman started performing as the vocalist for LIES, DECEIT & TREACHERY with Jimmy D'Anda, Mick Sweda and Lonnie Vencent, all of whom are formerly of BULLETBOYS. He also formed a band called DEVIL'S HAND with guitarist Mike Slamer, and in December of the same year, they released a self-titled album.
In May 2022, Freeman joined GREAT WHITE as the band's lead singer but lasted only five months before he was replaced by Brett Carlisle.

DAVE MUSTAINE Praises MEGADETH's New Touring Guitarist TEEMU MÄNTYSAARI: 'He Plays A Lot Like MARTY FRIEDMAN'In a new interview with Wes Styles, MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine spoke about the addition of new touring guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (WINTERSUN, SMACKBOUND). Teemu is filling in for the band's longtime axeman Kiko Loureiro, who announced earlier this month that he would sit out the next leg of MEGADETH's "Crush The World" tour in order to stay home with his children back in Finland. Asked how Teemu is working out so far, Dave said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "He's really great. And I'm super excited with what Teemu has brought. And it's uncanny because he plays a lot like [former MEGADETH guitarist] Marty [Friedman]. And it's really exciting. At certain times I just close my eyes during the set and I just hear these songs played, whether like Kiko in the past or Teemu now, it just sounds really magic because these guys have learned these songs and they're not just going out there and just banging their guitar around; they actually learned the solos from some of the virtuosos that I've played with over my career."
MEGADETH played its first concert with Mäntysaari on September 6 at Revel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The 36-year-old Mäntysaari was born in Tampere, Finland and began playing guitar at the age of 12. In 2004, he joined the band WINTERSUN. He has also been a member of SMACKBOUND since 2015.
Loureiro officially joined MEGADETH in April 2015, about five months after Chris Broderick's exit from the group.
Shortly after Loureiro's addition to MEGADETH, Mustaine called him "definitely the best guitarist we've ever had." His comments echoed those he made about Broderick during the latter's tenure in the band. Back in 2013, during the making of MEGADETH's "Super Collider" album, Mustaine wrote in a tweet that Chris was "without a doubt the best guitarist I've ever played with."
Mustaine told Revolver magazine that finding Loureiro "was really a mind-blower. It was the first time since Marty Friedman joined the band that I was really intimidated as a player," he said. "He's such an amazing talent, and he's been coming in with all of these fresh ideas." Mustaine added that Kiko was a good fit personality wise. "Chris [Broderick] and I had a good chemistry, but we weren't really as close as I would have wanted us to be," Mustaine explained. "Kiko, I feel like I've known him for years."
In 2009, Mustaine praised Broderick, saying in an online post: "I am going on record and I am saying unequivocally that Chris is THE BEST GUITARIST MEGADETH has ever had. And the real talented musicians in MEGADETH's alumni will agree, he is an absolute monster. I mean, he plays the catalog better than anyone did. Jeff Young never wanted to do Chris Poland's stuff, and so on, and so on, until the last guitarist we had before we disbanded over my arm injury."
Mustaine added: "It's funny, because just when I think [Broderick] can get no more outrageous, or any more thrilling with the guitar solos, he comes up with something really beautiful like Marty Friedman would do (he has Marty pretty well down pat),and then goes into the GIT styles that Jeff Young did, yet, there is still such a freshness to his playing and he is so raw, it's like having a new prize bull. And even though he ain't a such a young bull, he's definitely an old bull like me."
In addition to Mustaine andLoureiro, MEGADETH's current lineup includes former SOILWORK drummer Dirk Verbeuren and bassist James LoMenzo. 6

FIREHOUSE Singer CJ SNARE To Undergo Abdominal SurgeryFIREHOUSE frontman CJ Snare will sit out a "a few" of the band's shows in order to undergo an abdominal surgery. He will be replaced at those gigs by an as-yet-undisclosed "fill-in singer."
Earlier today (Tuesday, September 26),Snare released the following message via social media : "To all our fans. It breaks my heart to let you know that, because of doctor’s orders, I will not be performing with the band until I have recovered from an upcoming abdominal surgery.
"We will be postponing and rescheduling a few upcoming dates. In the meantime, there will be a few shows with a fill-in singer. I encourage you to go and rock out with FIREHOUSE until my return.
"Thank you for your support and understanding."
FIREHOUSE hasn't released a studio album since 2011's "Full Circle", which featured re-recorded versions of some of the band's older songs. The group's last collection of new material, "Prime Time", came out in 2003.
FIREHOUSE reached stardom during the early '90s with hits like "Reach For The Sky", "Don't Treat Me Bad" and "All She Wrote", as well as its signature power ballads "I Live My Life For You", "Love Of A Lifetime" and "When I Look Into Your Eyes".
At the 1992 American Music Awards, FIREHOUSE won the award for "Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock New Artist". They were chosen over NIRVANA and ALICE IN CHAINS.
Formed nearly four decades ago, FIREHOUSE's classic lineup consisted of Snare, guitarist Bill Leverty, drummer Michael Foster and bassist Perry Richardson. Richardson left in 2000 and was replaced by Allen McKenzie in 2003.
TO ALL OUR FANS.
IT BREAKS MY HEART TO LET YOU KNOW THAT, BECAUSE OF DOCTOR’S ORDERS,
I WILL NOT BE PERFORMING WITH...

LYNCH MOB Shares Lyric Video For New Single 'Caught Up'Frontiers Music Srl will release of the new studio album from LYNCH MOB, "Babylon", on October 20.
Joining revered guitarist and band founder George Lynch (THE END MACHINE, THE BANISHMENT, ex-DOKKEN) for this latest LYNCH MOB LP are vocalist Gabriel Colón, bassist Jaron Gulino (TANTRIC, HEAVENS EDGE),and drummer Jimmy D'Anda (ex-BULLETBOYS).
Watch a lyric video for second single "Caught Up" below.
Lynch says: "There's been so many iterations of LYNCH MOB since the first lineup in 1989 of Oni Logan, Mick Brown, Anthony Esposito and myself. Putting LYNCH MOB together was just an extension of what I'd always strived for in a band: the best possible musicians, chemistry, and brotherhood. My bands have not only been my best friends, but also family. When we come up together and work hard and struggle together, we create a bond that lasts a lifetime. I think that's the thing I love the most about my musical journey...creating music in the studio, stepping on stage, and sharing that bond with my friends through music. Thank you to everyone who has been in my band. I really feel it's ours."
New Jersey's own Jaron Gulino brings the east coast attitude and energy to LYNCH MOB. He has prospered in a long career as the bassist in a variety of bands, most notably post-grunge rock band TANTRIC. Gulino achieved chart topping success with multiple releases from TANTRIC, as well as performing on many high-profile tours and events with numerous other acts. He is also currently the bassist for Philadelphia hard rockers HEAVENS EDGE.
His bandmate and partner in crime in the rhythm section is none other than original BULLETBOYS drummer Jimmy D'Anda, who is known for his ability to bring a fantastic element of groove while maintaining the powerful hard rock vibe of LYNCH MOB.
Gabriel Colón is a Puerto Rican singer who started his career with a band called FAST TAKER. Since then, he has showcased his wide range of vocal talent with many rock acts including GOTHIC KNIGHTS, CULPRIT, WHITE WIZZARD and Rowan Robertson. Gabriel is a true talent and a great fit to fill the shoes of his extremely talented predecessors in LYNCH MOB.
LYNCH MOB was formed in 1989 after George Lynch parted ways with his former band DOKKEN. Their debut release "Wicked Sensation" was met with critical and fan acclaim and went on to be certified gold in sales by the RIAA. The band would continue on through the years with a cast of talented players joining Lynch throughout their musical journey over the course of six more studio albums. "Babylon" is LYNCH MOB's eighth studio album overall and the first since 2017's "The Brotherhood".
Don't miss LYNCH MOB on tour this fall including a Talk Shop Live virtual appearance on October 18 and a special record-release party show at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood on October 25.

For much of 2021 and 2022, George had played dates around the U.S. under the name ELECTRIC FREEDOM, which he previously said was the new name of his "touring entity" after deciding to retire the LYNCH MOB band name in 2020. However, ten months ago, it was reported that Lynch was once again playing shows under the LYNCH MOB moniker.
Lynch discussed his change of heart in an interview with Full In Bloom. He said: "[LYNCH MOB is] just a brand I'd established for decades, obviously — over three decades. Nothing's perfect, and I've gotta just live with the fact that it has some negative connotations that I probably have to continue explaining for the rest of my life, and I don't mind doing that. But it is a brand that I built, and I'm just gonna stick with it. As far as a marketing thing and a brand thing and a business thing and a working thing, and it keeps my band guys working and it keeps the fans happy, it makes sense.
"I really felt, when I adopted ELECTRIC FREEDOM, that I was really going against the grain more than keeping the old name," he laughed. "I really felt a lot more resistance than I'd ever felt having LYNCH MOB; that was actually the reality of it. Nobody really liked it. And I didn't like living with that; it was just kind of uncomfortable. It's, like, 'Okay, well, we've just gotta put up with George's decision here to do this, but nobody agrees with it. We're not comfortable with it.' It has a sort of disingenuous ring to it. As much as my motives were pure — I felt honest — it just never caught on, on all kinds of levels."
Asked if he had gotten any negative comments from fans over the LYNCH MOB name, George said: "I may have had a few in the 35 years it's been around, but I'd say probably the most negative criticism I've had of it came from me. So I was my own worst critic with the name, especially in later years. I got a lot more criticism with ELECTRIC FREEDOM.
"It's a brand," George explained. "I mean, nobody wants Coke to change their recipe. Just stay the same, and that's what you built over the years. Why would you…? 'Why would you change it' is a rhetorical question. Why I'm probably not more successful in some ways in my career is because I followed my aspirations musically rather than sometimes be smart about just sticking to the plan. [Laughs]"
The news of LYNCH MOB's return was first reported by the Metal Sludge web site on October 1, 2022.
In August 2020, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB due to the racial insensitivity of the moniker, saying he would no longer record or perform under that name.
A few months later, Lynch offered a lengthy explanation for why he was ending LYNCH MOB during an interview with George Dionne of Metal Express Radio. Addressing questions about why it took him three decades to call it quits with LYNCH MOB, George said: "When we first formed the band in '89, the name had sort of already been around. While I was in DOKKEN, it's what I called our little group of guitar fans — I had picks made; it was kind of a little subculture within DOKKEN. When we started working on developing and building the band after DOKKEN broke up, that was just the name that we always thought we'd use, 'cause it was a perfect fit — it's my name, and it describes it pretty well. And, of course, the negative connotations were always there, and I was aware of 'em, but not as aware as I probably should have been. [Laughs]
"I had made numerous attempts over the decades to kind of let that name go and had walked that back for multiple reasons — usually because of business considerations," he continued. "For instance, if you try to go out on a tour and not use the name, promoters aren't gonna be happy with you changing it. People aren't gonna know who you are. They're not gonna show up, because what's THE GEORGE LYNCH EXPERIENCE, or whatever you call it. Or record labels are not interested, because it's a brand that they can count on and sell a certain many albums or whatever.
"For instance, the LYNCH MOB record 'Smoke This' that came out, I think, in '99 or 2000, that was not supposed to be a LYNCH MOB record; that really wasn't anything to do with LYNCH MOB. At the end of the day, after the record was done and we were delivering it to the label, they insisted on using that name as insurance. And if I hadn't agreed to that, we wouldn't have had a record. That's the kind of pressure I'm talking about.
"But then, with the onset of everything that's happened in the last year, I didn't have that kind of pressure anymore," George added. "I could take it or leave it at this point. And I didn't really feel comfortable with it; I didn't feel comfortable with the name. 'Cause I'm a very progressive person politically, and it just so flies in the face of everything I believe in, and it makes it hard. It makes it hard to have relationships with people and explain yourself, and I got tired of rationalizing it. I think the music is bigger than that, and it's had a great run.
"Another reason, too, is the band fell apart again. The band has fallen apart so many times, I can't even count. And it was just, like, 'No more Oni [Logan, vocals], no more Brian Tichy [drums], no more this guy, no more that guy. Oh, great. Now what do I do?' It's, like, 'Okay, build another band from scratch, call it LYNCH MOB?' No. How about just build something new? It gives me a lot more freedom to basically play anything I want live… I can go out and play everything from my catalog — new, old, covers, jams, you name it, and go deep and have fun and change it up every night."
Oni first hooked up with LYNCH MOB in 1990, but exited the group after the release of its first album, only to rejoin the outfit in the late 2000s.
Logan is featured on five of LYNCH MOB's eight albums, including 1990's "Wicked Sensation", as well as 2009's "Smoke And Mirrors", 2014's "Sun Red Sun", 2015's "Rebel" and 2017's "The Brotherhood".
In August 2021, LYNCH MOB celebrated the 30th anniversary of "Wicked Sensation" with a special limited print/deluxe edition of the album. "Wicked Sensation Reimagined" features re-worked and re-recorded versions of the LP's classic songs, and was made available via Rat Pak Records.

OZZY OSBOURNE Wants To Record New Studio Album In 2024: 'I'm Just Starting To Work On It Now'Legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne, who released two albums in the last four years — 2020's "Ordinary Man" and 2022's "Patient Number 9", both produced by Andrew Watt — has told Metal Hammer magazine that he has plans to record a new LP in 2024. "I'm getting myself fit," he said. "I've done two albums fairly recently, but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road."
Ozzy added that he is hoping to reunite with Watt and record at his new studio in the U.K.
"I'm just starting to work on it now, and we'll be recording in the early part of next year," he said. "I want to take my time with this one."
Ozzy also offered an update on his health after undergoing his "final surgery" in September.
"I've had all the surgery now, thank god," he said. "I'm feeling okay — it was just dragging on. I thought I'd be back on my feet months ago, I just couldn't get used to this mode of living, constantly having something wrong. I can't walk properly yet, but I'm not in any pain anymore and the surgery on my spine went great."
Ozzy underwent extensive spinal surgery and other treatment following a fall at home in 2019 that aggravated injuries he suffered in a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003.
This past July, Ozzy canceled his appearance at the upcoming Power Trip festival due to his ongoing health issues.
Ozzy's health issues, including catching COVID-19 a year and a half ago, forced him to cancel some of his previously announced tours.
While Osbourne's health issues forced him to scrap most of his live appearances, the legendary BLACK SABBATH frontman said he would return if his condition improved.
Despite his health problems, Osbourne has performed a couple of times in recent months, including at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August 2022 and at the NFL halftime show at the season opener Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills game in September 2022.
"Patient Number 9" won a Grammy in the "Best Rock Album" category at the 65th annual Grammy Awards, which was held in February at the Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center) in Los Angeles, California.
Ozzy previously won three Grammy Awards and received eight nominations. In 1993 Ozzy won a solo Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" for "I Don't Want To Change The World" and two Grammys as a member of BLACK SABBATH for "Best Metal Performance" in 2000 for "Iron Man" and in 2013 for "Best Metal Performance" for "God Is Dead?" from "13".
"Patient Number 9" was released in September 2022 and marked Ozzy's 13th solo studio album. The critically acclaimed album topped his previous chart entries with record-breaking numbers around the world. In the U.S., the album debuted at No. 1 on multiple charts: Top Album Sales (Ozzy's first No. 1 ever on this chart),Top Current Album Sales (another first),Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Vinyl Albums and Tastemaker Albums charts; and at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Globally, the album charted at No. 1 in Canada (Ozzy's first-ever No. 1 there); career-high No. 2 entries in the U.K., Australia, Finland and Italy; No. 6 in the Netherlands and New Zealand; No. 8 in Belgium; and No. 14 France. Other highlights include No. 2 in Austria, Germany and Sweden; No. 3 in Switzerland; and No. 4 in Norway.
Working with Watt for the second time, Ozzy welcomed a dynamic A-list featured guests on the album. For the first time ever, BLACK SABBATH co-founder, guitarist, and riff-master Tony Iommi appears on an Ozzy solo album. The record also boasts guitarists Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mike McCready of PEARL JAM, and longstanding righthand man and six-string beast Zakk Wylde who plays on the majority of the tracks. For the bulk of the album, Chad Smith of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS held down drums, while the late Taylor Hawkins of FOO FIGHTERS appears on three songs. Old friend and one-time Ozzy bandmember Robert Trujillo of METALLICA plays bass on most of the album's tracks, with Duff McKagan of GUNS N' ROSES and Chris Chaney supplying bass on a few songs.

3TEETH Release Cover Of TEARS FOR FEARS Classic "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"; Music Video3Teeth's new album, Endex, is out now via Century Media Records. To celebrate the album’s release, the band has released the final single and video from the album, culminating in a cover of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule the World.”
The reworked take continues 3Teeth’s penchant for aggressive reworks of pop songs, previously seen on Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks,” Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record).”
Says frontman Alexis Mincolla of the track, “Listening to it, I felt the weight of the world and the wild-eyed frenzy of the human condition – the never-ending chase, the insatiable hunger. And in that moment, cruising down the highway, surrounded by the vastness of the desert, I realized: We're all just careening towards our own versions of world domination, fueled by dreams and delusions.”
EndEx features the handiwork of a solid extended team including the accomplished sound designer Mick Gordon (best known for his work on the gaming phenomenon Doom) who produced several of the tracks along with producer Nick Rowe and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN), who brings another dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound.

SATYRICON To Release New Album In May 2024Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON will release their long-awaited new studio album in May 2024.
Last year, SATYRICON released a 56-minute composition titled "Satyricon & Munch" in a unique collaboration with the world-famous Munch museum in Oslo, Norway. The music, created by Satyr, was written in the shape of a so-called musical work and transcended any genre barriers.
SATYRICON's latest regular collection of original material, "Deep Calleth Upon Deep", was released in September 2017 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on SATYRICON's 2006 album, "Now, Diabolical").
Earlier today (Tuesday, September 26),SATYRICON released the following update via social media: "We are pleased to confirm that we will return to the stage for the first time in five years in the summer of 2024. We will be focusing on the European festival run and have no touring plans outside of that currently.
"At the moment, we are working on a new album scheduled for a May 2024 release.
"The art exhibition and album 'Satyricon & Munch', was an intense and all-consuming project for the record books, but it is history now and we have been working on all these new things behind closed doors for almost a year. We're delighted to soon share it.
"We really look forward to playing both brand new and old songs for you, and once again being able to hear you sing, scream and chant as the army you are.
"We will publish all dates once they have been confirmed and approved to publish. This will be great!"
SATYRICON's first two albums, 1993's "Dark Medieval Times" and 1994's "The Shadowthrone", were released as remixed and remastered reissues with altered cover artworks, in May 2021 via Napalm Records.
In July 2022, SATYRICON drummer Kjetil-Vidar "Frost" Haraldstad told Heavy New York about how he and his bandmates have progressed musical since the group's inception three decades ago: "The way I see it, SATYRICON is always going through a constant evolution. We have always emphasized the importance and the meaning of creativity and innovation and boldness and daring to try something new because we see black metal as a genre that was born through creativity. It was born through bands that dared to go where other bands hadn't been going before them. They took things further in many, many ways, made their music harder and rawer than anything that was really done before that, and they brought some darkness into this that you didn't really have before. There were some attempts perhaps, but before the very first black metal bands, you didn't really have it in that sense. And also many of these bands showed a great pioneering spirit and there was a lot of avant-garde work going on. And these elements were very, very important, and through SATYRICON we have always tried to cultivate these elements and really make it a part of our musical DNA to cultivate that creativity. And then that is your starting point. I think that the band will go through lots of changes, and sometimes the evolution will happen in a very, very significant way from album to album, other times perhaps at a slightly slower pace, but it will always be there."
He continued: "I think that a band like SATYRICON has always been really bound to seek new musical territory and to constantly renew ourselves, and it's also a natural part of our way of operating too, to seek new ways of working and to see whether we should try to bring in something that we have never had before and that we don't really even master, and see if it is a resource that we actually manage to bring into the band and make the whole thing grow."

BLAZE BAYLEY: IRON MAIDEN Is 'The Most Important Heavy Metal Band In The World'In a new interview with SoundMojo's "Innersleeve" music podcast, former IRON MAIDEN singer Blaze Bayley spoke about how he balances honoring his time with the legendary British heavy metal band during his concerts while also promoting his more recent solo output. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, I'm very lucky in a way. Before I joined IRON MAIDEN, I was an IRON MAIDEN fan and I knew what happens to the singers of IRON MAIDEN and from KISS, ex-members of KISS, bands like that. You will always be associated with that famous band. If you played with Ozzy Osbourne or whatever, you'll always be associated with those guys. And so I was ready for that. I was friends with the guys in the band. I'm still friends with the guys. I go and see [MAIDEN bassist] Steve Harris with his BRITISH LION band. And also I saw MAIDEN twice on this tour and said hi to the guys. So I'm incredibly lucky that in my chosen profession of being a heavy metal singer, I got what is to me the top job, the number one job in the world of my profession. That is being the singer of what I consider to be the most important heavy metal band in the world. I'm very lucky to have had that, to have spent five years with IRON MAIDEN, two albums, a few B-sides — I'm incredibly lucky."
He continued: "For me, it's a matter of pride. Where I come from, where we are in the world of heavy metal, you look back at where you come from. Ronnie James Dio, when he was alive, he always acknowledged where he came from. And for me, as a metalhead and as someone who sings in this genre, it's important to say, 'Yeah, I come from there. That's a part of me. That's what's made me who I am.' I'm not gonna say, 'Oh, this is nothing to do with me.' No, that's part of me. But this is what I'm doing now. So when you listen to [my latest solo album] 'War Within Me', what you're actually hearing is this huge influence from IRON MAIDEN on my songwriting, on my voice, this influence that comes from way back in the day when we started with WOLFSBANE, those bits and pieces. You listen to 'War Within Me' and you've got this — this part of where I have been, it's all there. It's fighting suicidal thoughts. It's looking at people who overcome the impossible and going, 'Well, if they did that, maybe there's a chance I can do it too.' So that's where I am. I love guitar melodies. I love electric guitar. I love harmony guitars. I love big drums — all of that. So that's what's on my album."
The 60-year-old Bayley fronted IRON MAIDEN from 1994 until 1999. The two MAIDEN albums he appeared on, "The X Factor" and "Virtual XI", sold considerably less than the band's prior releases and were their lowest-charting titles in the group's home country since 1981's "Killers".
Since leaving IRON MAIDEN in 1999, Bayley has released a number of albums, including several under the moniker BLAZE and more than a handful under his own name. He also appeared on 2012's "Wolfsbane Saves The World", the first album of new material by WOLFSBANE since the group's self-titled 1994 effort, and a follow-up LP, 2022's "Genius".
Blaze's latest studio album, "War Within Me", came out in April 2021. The LP was recorded during 2020 with work split between Blaze's studio at home in the West Midlands and Christopher Appleton's studio in Greater Manchester.
Six months ago, Blaze underwent a quadruple bypass surgery following a heart attack.

LITA FORD On Changes In Music Industry: 'So Long As We Can Still Keep Playing Music, Then All The Rest Just Doesn't Matter'Before her concert in Idaho last month, Lita Ford was asked by KPVI's Deanne Coffin about how she has dealt with all the changes in the music industry since she launched her professional career nearly 50 years ago. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I mean, you know, music is music, and everything else just kind of evolves around it. And so long as we can still keep playing music, then all the rest just doesn't matter."
Asked who her musical inspirations were when she was starting out, Lita said: "Well, anybody who was badass enough to play guitar riffs. I think my greatest inspiration was probably BLACK SABBATH. It was weird because back then Ozzy [Osbourne] was the lead singer, and the first rock concert I ever went to was BLACK SABBATH. I was 13. And later on, I ended up having a Top 10 hit single with Ozzy. It was his first Top 10 hit single of all time, because BLACK SABBATH could not make the Top 10, because they were BLACK SABBATH; it just wasn't going to make it. So, when I did the duet with Ozzy, it went Top 10 in America. And I'm, like, 'Yeah.'"
Lita recently completed work on her new album for an early 2024 release. The follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" was once again helmed by guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who contributes some guitar playing to the disc, alongside the rest of Lita's longtime backing band, consisting of guitarist Patrick Kennison, drummer Bobby Rock and since-departed bassist Marty O'Brien.
In a recent interview with "THAT Rocks!", the weekly YouTube series hosted by Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson, Lita stated about her next LP: "The problem is we've had so many things happen over the last few years. Our manager died; George Marshall died a year ago, [in] '22. And then my songwriting partner died. And it's just been devastation. But we take all that pain and everything and we just put it right back into the album. And then we recorded the drum tracks in Minneapolis during Black Lives Matter and COVID. Everything was locked down and the place was boarded up and the guys had shotguns and Rottweilers. And then we went in and did drum tracks. And it was awesome. Just memories of just pure badassery And so the record is almost done. [There are] a couple things I have to fix and change. And it looks like we might be signing with Frontiers [Music Srl]. But they've gotta to do me right before I put pen to paper. And they're pretty cool over there. So, we're talking March release. 2024, March release."
Regarding what her plans are for live shows in support of her upcoming LP, Lita said: "Well, what I would like to do is put together a theatrical show, sort of like a rock guitar opera kind of thing. It's been done before and different bands have done it before, but I think in this case, it might be a little different and just to bring the whole show not to life just for audio, but for visual reasons also. So we're going to go into rehearsals mid-November and start putting that together for 2024, the Lita Ford rock guitar rock opera. I'd love to have Hoey with me too, if I can get Gary Hoey to [do] the tour."
In a separate interview with "The Kenny Aronoff Sessions", the podcast hosted by Kenny Aronoff, Lita said that she wanted to get her new album out "for the fans. I'm having a little bit of an ordeal with record labels because here we are, 2023, going on '24, and it's not the same," she explained. "And they're not the same, and everything else is just… I don't wanna hope and pray that it gets treated the way it should, because it's not a cash grab. This record is a real record and I want the fans to have it, hear it and see it because it's very visual as well as riffy and stuff. It's just a killer record. So I would like to get that record out and for the fans. That's on my bucket list."
As for what is so special about this record, Lita said: "There was a lot of things that happened during the process of this record. My manager died, my songwriting partner died. There was drug rehab, drug withdrawals — just all kinds of stuff that happened. And this record is real. It's almost like I had to live it before I could write it. And it took a long time. It wasn't something that was written in a weekend. And so the songs are coming from a really hardcore place, because they're just real. And I think a lot people will be able to them in their own way. Plus it's rocking. It's a killer record."
In May 2022, bassist Marten Andersson (STEELHEART, LIZZY BORDEN, LYNCH MOB) officially joined Lita's touring band. Andersson replaced O'Brien who became the touring bassist for DAUGHTRY.
In January 2021, Lita told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that her new album contains "some of the best guitar playing" she has heard "in decades." She added: "And I'm not blowing smoke up my own ass, but Gary and I just nailed it with the guitar playing on this record.
"I'm a huge fan of people like Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter from Alice Cooper's 'Welcome To My Nightmare'. I mean, there's some really great duo guitar players — [JUDAS PRIEST's] Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing… Those guitar players don't exist anymore — they just don't exist. If you wanna hear them, you have to go back in time a little bit and dig them up into your favorite library, favorite music catalog. But I think Gary and I really nailed it on this next record. It's, like, oh my God. I'm crying — I'm just, like, crying listening to this stuff. It's so badass."
Ford's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.
Seven years ago, Lita released an autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books),an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. 2

STATIC-X's 'Project Regeneration: Vol. 2' Pushed Back To January; New Music Clips AvailableIndustrial music icons STATIC-X have set a January 26, 2024 "final" release date for their eighth studio album, "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2". The LP is a collection of 14 brand-new songs that contain the final vocal performances and musical compositions of founding vocalist Wayne Static, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" lineup featuring Campos, Koichi Fukuda (guitars) and Ken Jay (drums). The new album was produced by STATIC-X's current vocalist/guitarist Xer0 and mixed/mastered by longtime collaborator Ulrich Wild.
A YouTube video containing "10 brand new music clips" from "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2" is available below.
Earlier this month, STATIC-X released a music video for the first original track from "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2". The song "Stay Alive" is one of the last original compositions Wayne Static was working on before his passing in 2014. The song's lyrics echo Wayne's state of mind during this tragic time, as he professes himself to be a "professional addict" and screams the words: "I just need you to survive - Cut you up to stay alive." The track features Wayne Static on lead vocals, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" lineup of Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda and Ken Jay. The video was directed by STATIC-X producer, creative director and longtime friend Edsel Dope — who is also widely believed to be Xer0, the masked current frontman of STATIC-X — and co-directed by Matt Zane. Outtakes from the Wayne Static "Assassins of Youth" video — originally directed by Zane — were added to help fully portray Wayne's disturbing vision for the song. According to the band's former sound engineer Eddie Ortel: "Wayne was working on this track the night that he passed away."
"We knew that if we were going to release this song, we wouldn't be able to tip toe around this tragic subject," says Campos. "The first draft of the video was really hard for all of us to watch, so we ended up removing many of the more graphic scenes. As dark as this piece of art may be, it is also a very honest representation of where Wayne was at during this controversial time. My hope is that when people see this, that they understand the cautionary tale that Wayne's life ultimately became and can avoid some of those pitfalls."
"We always want to remember Wayne as the intelligent, funny, 'Star Trek'-loving rock star," adds Aimee Pittman, Wayne's younger sister. "It makes his family sad and angry to see Wayne depicting himself in a way that we understand to be a realistic portrayal of his life and the choices that ultimately ended it. If one person watching this video can benefit or make better choices related to drugs and alcohol, then we are grateful for the reminder."
With the success of their last release, "Project Regeneration: Vol. 1", and on the heels of their recent multiple-city sold-out "Rise Of The Machine" tour, STATIC-X have reinvigorated their fan base and brought Evil Disco back to the masses. The original lineup of Campos, Fukuda and Jay backed by frontman Xer0 have proven that STATIC-X is back and better than ever.
The "Rise Of The Machine" tour sold out 37 of its 42 dates, while showcasing the largest stage production that STATIC-X has ever put together. The band promises that the production on "The Machine Killer" tour is going to be even bigger and more impressive this time around.
Continuing to create new music, STATIC-X announced "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2" and unveiled the first single from that album, a cover of the NINE INCH NAILS classic "Terrible Lie".
All of the music associated with "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2" is the result of collaborations between the four founding members along with their new vocalist/guitarist/producer Xer0. No additional guests appear on the album and there were no outside contributions to the songwriting, musical compositions, or the performances on "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2". Between the two releases, STATIC-X fans around the globe have been treated to over two dozen brand new songs — most of which feature Static on lead vocals — and all released after his untimely passing.
Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.
Static founded STATIC-X in 1994 and achieved commercial success with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which included the rock radio hit "Push It".
The group issued five more studio albums before disbanding permanently in June 2013. Static had been pursuing a solo career at the time of his death.

During an appearance on the August 16 episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", Malmsteen was asked if he has thought about working on a follow-up to his 2021 album "Parabellum". He responded: "Yeah. I'm in the studio all the time, so I've got a whole crapload of things that I've been working on. But I'm very, very pleased with that record. It's one of these albums that I feel it really came together. So I'm not rushing to put something out right this second. But, yeah, for sure. I've already talked to the label and I've already been in the studio. I probably have like 40, 50 things already recorded. But, as I said, I'm not rushing to put anything out yet. And plus my whole year now is booked with touring."
On August 18, Yngwie and Glenn Hughes kicked off a co-headlining tour of the U.S. Malmsteen is performing his "greatest hits" while Hughes is playing a set of classic DEEP PURPLE songs celebrating the 50th anniversary of the "Burn" album.
"Parabellum" was released in July 2021 via Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group. Only four of the songs on the LP feature vocals. The album title is Latin, translating as "Prepare For War".
After working with some of the top hard singers of the past four decades, Yngwie now handles much of the lead vocals himself in his own band, backed by a lineup that includes keyboardist Nick Marino, bassist Emilio Martinez and drummer Brian Wilson.
Back in 2021, Yngwie joked to the Beaver County Times about the mountainous wall of Marshall amplifiers and loudspeakers that he uses during his live performances: "They're the biggest Marshall stacks on earth. If you're at the International Space Station you can see two manmade objects — The Great Wall of China and my Marshall stacks."
