EXODUS: 'Persona Non Grata' Album Details Revealed; 'The Beatings Will Continue' Single Now AvailableSan Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans EXODUS will release their new album, "Persona Non Grata", on November 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The disc's first single, "The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves)", can be streamed below.
"Persona Non Grata" is the follow-up to 2014's "Blood In Blood Out", which was the San Francisco Bay Area thrashers' first release since the departure of the group's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.
"Persona Non Grata" was recorded at a studio in Lake Almanor, California and was engineered by Steve Lagudi and EXODUS. It was produced by EXODUS and was mixed by Andy Sneap.
Last month, EXODUS drummer Tom Hunting underwent a successful total gastrectomy in his battle with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach.
Speaking about the long gap between the new LP's completion and its projected release date, Zetro said during a recent Zetro's Toxic Vault YouTube livestream: "A lot of you guys are wondering why it's taking so long, and yes, Tom's illness had a bit to play in it. But they haven't been able to make vinyl. Nobody worked last year. So all the bands that wrote records and now are gonna put records out, they're six months behind in producing vinyl. So it's basically what it's about. So because we're very proud of this record [and] this record is very special for us, I don't think that Nuclear Blast wanted to take any stops out on it, so they wanted multiple vinyls. But I can guarantee you it'll be out in November, and you guys will not be disappointed. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed on this."
Regarding the songwriting and recording process for "Persona Non Grata", Zetro said: "I wrote a couple of songs lyrically, but [guitarist] Gary Holt wrote the brunt of this record, and it exemplifies why he is the real deal in thrash metal or heavy metal. That's why all you guys that follow him and love his guitar playing and his technique and his style, you have every reason to do that. And this record, after you hear the record, you're just gonna go, 'Wow! Zetro was right.' And then performance-wise, everybody killed it on their performance. Tom was a man possessed. Jack [Gibson, bass] was too; I think it's the best bass playing I've heard on a record for Jack. And those that have heard the record think it's the best vocal performance that I've done."

Last week it was announced that EXODUS has tapped John Tempesta to play drums for the band at two upcoming festivals — at Psycho Las Vegas on August 22 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada and at Full Terror Assault on September 11 at Hogrock Campground in Cave In Rock, Illinois — while Hunting is recovering from surgery. Tempesta was a member of EXODUS from 1989 until 1993 and played on the band's albums "Impact Is Imminent" (1990) and "Force Of Habit" (1992).
When Hunting announced his absence from Psycho Las Vegas and Full Terror Assault, he said in a statement: "I need to manage my own expectations, and then work my very core back into shape to be fully ready for action. I have no doubt I'll bounce back and get there."
A GoFundMe campaign to help Hunting with medical expenses had previously raised more than $108,000 — including $5,000 from Tom's former EXODUS bandmate, current METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett, and $1,500 from FOZZY singer and wrestling superstar Chris Jericho. 33

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT And DEATH ANGEL's MARK OSEGUEDA Guest On New SANTANA Album 'Blessings And Miracles'Multi-Grammy Award-winning Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame guitarist Carlos Santana has announced that his star-studded, masterful new album, "Blessings And Miracles", will be released worldwide via BMG on October 15. The record's dazzling first single, "Move", which sees the music legend and guitar icon reteamed with MATCHBOX 20 singer Rob Thomas, has just been released to radio.
"Blessings And Miracles" is one of the most ambitious, inspired and magical albums of Santana's storied career, on which the legendary guitarist aims higher than ever.
"The title of this album comes from my belief that we're born with heavenly powers that allows us to create blessings and miracles," Santana says. "The world programs you to be unworthy of those gifts, but we have to utilize light, spirit and soul — they're indestructible and immutable. Those are the three main elements on this album."
In addition to Rob Thomas, "Blessings And Miracles" sees Santana collaborating with a diverse host of brilliant artists, writers and producers including Chris Stapleton, G-Eazy, Diane Warren, Steve Winwood, Chick Corea, Rick Rubin, Corey Glover, Kirk Hammett, Ally Brooke, American Authors and Narada Michael Walden, among others, on genre-bending, hook-filled knockout musical celebrations.
The record also features bravura performances from members of Santana's touring band (including drummer Cindy Blackman Santana and singer Tommy Anthony), as well as impeccable vocals and keyboards by the guitarist's son, Salvador Santana, and stunning lead vocals by daughter, Stella Santana.
Expectations understandably run high with pairing Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas, whose 1999 multiple Grammy-winning smash "Smooth" became a worldwide staple — and the two performers have turned in a new classic. "Move" is a grinding, grooving and breathtaking mix of pop and Latin rock with sure-fire hooks for days. Thomas, backed by the vocal talents of American Authors, is dynamic and sensual, and Santana matches his supreme performance with solos that explode with tectonic force.
"'Move' came about very much like how 'Smooth' happened," Santana recalls. "It was like divine intelligence behind the scenes, and I just knew I had to record it with Rob. The song is about awakening your molecules. Ignite and activate yourself — you know, move. When Rob and I work together, we have a sound that's splendiferous."
The album's second single, "She's Fire", is a hypnotically soulful ballad that works its way into your body chemistry and stays there. It's one of two cuts written by mega-award-winning, chart-topping composer Diane Warren, and it sees Santana wrapping his exquisite guitar melodies around an enticing narrative spun by the rapper G-Eazy.
"I'm so honored that Diane reached out to me and sent me her songs," says Santana. Regarding G-Eazy, the guitarist is no less effusive. "He's so talented. I'm thrilled at how we both sound on this song," he says. "It reminds me of when Bill Graham once told me: 'Your music is spiritual and sensual. That's who you are.' And that's the message of 'She's Fire'."
Santana spent much of the past two years recording "Blessings And Miracles", serving as producer and collaborating with other record makers. Recording during COVID created a challenge only in that some musicians were separated geographically, beamed into sessions via technology; inspiration, however, was never in short supply.
"It's amazing how we can record together these days without being in the same studio," Santana notes. "I just close my eyes and I'm in the same room with whomever I'm playing with, even if they're somewhere far away. We share frequencies together."
As for the stellar talents that appear alongside him on "Blessings And Miracles", Santana admits that he's sometimes surprised at how they magically enter his life. "I don't choose people — it's like I'm chosen," he says. "But, of course, I'm honored to work with such incredible artists. I'm a surfer riding those waves that become songs by different artists, creators and architects. I'm very fortunate that I have the opportunity to do that. It's a gift I don't take for granted."
"Blessings And Miracles" track listing:
01. Ghost Of Future Pull / New Light
02. Santana Celebration
03. Rumbalero (featuring Salvador Santana & Asdru Sierra)

Ahead of the release of "Blessings And Miracles", Santana and his band will mark their long-awaited return to the concert stage after 18 months off. On August 25, SANTANA will resume their multi-year residency at the House Of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas (shows run from August 25 through September. 4, with additional dates from November 3 thru December 11).
SANTANA's "Blessings And Miracles" tour begins on September 11 at the Borgata Spa & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and will make stops in Richmond, Orlando, Augusta, Tulsa, and more before it concludes on October 2 at the Choctaw Grand Theater in Durant, Oklahoma. 1

It's Official: FEAR FACTORY Has Found A Replacement For Singer BURTON C. BELLDino Cazares has confirmed that he has found a new singer for FEAR FACTORY.
Although the guitarist has not yet revealed the new FEAR FACTORY vocalist's identity, he did indicate that the musician in question has experience and is "kind of known" within the metal scene.
Cazares, who co-founded FEAR FACTORY more than three decades ago, discussed his search for a replacement for the band's original frontman Burton C. Bell in a brand new interview with Bucketlist TV.
He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "For those of you who don't know, our singer quit after 30 years, so I've been looking for a new singer. And I'm first here to tell you that I have definitely nailed it down to one person. I'm not gonna reveal who that is yet — not yet. Once I'm done [playing with SOULFLY as a fill-in guitarist for the summer U.S tour], I'm gonna go back to L.A., back to the studio, and I'll be writing some new new FEAR FACTORY songs with the new singer, because I'd like to introduce him with a new song."
Asked about his previous comment that he was open to hiring a female vocalist for FEAR FACTORY, Dino said: "That was true. I auditioned a few women, yes. But it didn't work out — not because they were female or anything like that. Because I wanted to pick whoever was best for the position, and it turned out to be a guy."
Dino also addressed his statement from a few months ago that he wanted to give an "unknown guy a shot" at fronting FEAR FACTORY. He said: "Well, it wasn't like I was only looking for somebody that nobody knew. I was looking for all different [types of singers]. Sure, if the guy turned out to be, or the girl turned out to be, someone that nobody knew and I gave 'em that shot, yeah, great. I was open to all of it, is what I'm saying. Male, female, whatever, known, unknown — I was open to all of that. And it turned out to be somebody who is kind of known, I guess. Kind of known. He does have experience."
Last September, Bell issued a statement officially announcing his departure from FEAR FACTORY, saying that he "cannot align" himself with someone whom he does not trust or respect.
Bell's exit from FEAR FACTORY came more than two weeks after Cazares launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist him with the production costs associated with the release of FEAR FACTORY's new LP.
Bell later told Kerrang! magazine that his split with FEAR FACTORY was a long time coming. "It's been on my mind for a while," he said. "These lawsuits [over the rights to the FEAR FACTORY name] just drained me. The egos. The greed. Not just from bandmembers, but from the attorneys involved. I just lost my love for it.
"With FEAR FACTORY, it's just constantly been, like, 'What?!' You can only take so much. I felt like 30 years was a good run. Those albums I've done with FEAR FACTORY will always be out there. I'll always be part of that. I just felt like it was time to move forward."
In October, Dino issued a statement in which he said that the door for Burton to come back to FEAR FACTORY wouldn't "stay open forever." The guitarist also revealed that Burton "lost his legal rights" to the FEAR FACTORY name "after a long court battle" with drummer Raymond Herrera and bassist Christian Olde Wolbers. "I had the opportunity to do something right, and I felt that obtaining the name in full was the right thing to do for the both of us, so after nearly four years we can continue as FEAR FACTORY, to make more records and to tour," he said. "That is why it is sad to hear that he decided to quit and, in my opinion, for whatever issues he has it seems like it could've been worked out."
FEAR FACTORY's new album, "Aggression Continuum", was released in June via Nuclear Blast Records. The LP, which was recorded primarily in 2017, features Cazares and Bell alongside drummer Mike Heller. It was produced and engineered by Damien Rainaud (DRAGONFORCE, ONCE HUMAN), with keyboards by Igor Khoroshev (ex-YES), and programming on two songs from longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY). "Aggression Continuum" was mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM), who also mixed FEAR FACTORY's previous album, 2015's "Genexus".

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Releases New Song 'Timebomb'MOTIONLESS IN WHITE has released a new song called "Timebomb". An accompanying music video, which was directed by Logan Beaver, can be seen below.
MOTIONLESS IN WHITE frontman Chris "Motionless" Cerulli stated about the track: "We are really excited to release a new piece of music to bridge the gap between all of the COVID downtime and our next record coming in 2022. 'Timebomb' felt like a great stand-alone track to touch on the heavier side of the band and to give fans something to headbang to during our return to touring this September. It feels so good to be getting back to work, and 'Timebomb' feels like a perfect way to celebrate the 'next normal.'"
In early September, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE will kick off a U.S. tour with support from SILENT PLANET and DYING WISH.
Last month, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE shared the official music video for its single "Thoughts & Prayers". The song remains a standout from the band's most recent full-length album, "Disguise". The visual was directed by MOTIONLESS IN WHITE guitarist Ricky Olson, marking his first time in the director's chair.
In June, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE delivered a global livestream performance, "Deadstream #2 Pennhurst Asylum". They served up a set of fan favorites outside of one of the most notorious haunted locales in the country.
MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's first "Deadstream" happened just prior to Halloween 2020, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band's acclaimed debut album, "Creatures". A month earlier, the band surprised fans with a cover of THE KILLERS' "Somebody Told Me", which is available on all streaming platforms. The cover followed the arrival of MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's "Another Life / Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection" EP, which was produced by Justin Deblieck and mixed by Steve Sopchak. For the EP, the acclaimed Scranton, Pennsylvania band reconstructed, reimagined, and reinvigorated two fan-favorite singles: "Another Life" and "Eternally Yours". Additionally, they included brand new cinematic instrumental tracks for both. For this big screen-worthy interpretation of "Another Life", they recruited dark pop Estonian artist Kerli to contribute an emotionally charged vocal.
Last October, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE released a standalone single, "Creatures X: To The Grave".

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Announces 'See What's On The Inside' Album; Releases 'Alone Again' SingleAcclaimed British rock group ASKING ALEXANDRIA just announced the October 1 release of its upcoming full-length studio album "See What's On The Inside". The announcement comes fresh off the news of its new global deal with Better Noise Music earlier this year, when they were signed by label president Dan Waite out of the company's London office.
ASKING ALEXANDRIA is celebrating the album announcement with the release of first single "Alone Again" today. A raw, emotional, introspective rock anthem, the single was co-written by all five members and offers a fitting first sampling of the full-length LP. Tapping into a renewed sense of creative energy, the band is more aligned than ever and rediscovered their love for songwriting and making music together during the recording sessions for this album. "Alone Again" and an extended "intro" for the song are now available to stream and download across platforms. A striking lyric video for "Alone Again" is available to view below.
Of the single, the new album and the new chapter with Better Noise, founding member and lead guitarist Ben Bruce said: "'Alone Again' and the rest of this album is the result of us reconnecting and falling back in love with why we started this band in the first place. No frills or cheap tricks, just the five of us playing our instruments as hard and as loud as we can! At some point in our lives, we all feel lost and confused as to who we are and who we want to be, and I think this song will really unite all of us in that sense. We are so excited to share, not only this new song with you all, but our new album. We went back to our roots as musicians and really wanted to reignite that passion and love for rock and metal music. METALLICA, LED ZEPPELIN, QUEEN, NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, AEROSMITH, AC/DC….all the greats that we fell in love with as kids have greatly influenced this new album and we couldn't be more excited!"
As the band prepares to put this new body of work out into the world, reintroducing themselves as a creative collective armed with a new sense of clarity and purpose, they will also be reconnecting with fans on the road. Earlier this month, they were announced to join A DAY TO REMEMBER on their "Re-Entry Tour" throughout North America. The tour kicks off on September 28 in Rochester, New York and goes until November 6 in St. Augustine, Florida. The band will also be playing at a select list of key festivals this fall.
In the early months of 2021, all five members of ASKING ALEXANDRIA found themselves hunkered down in a house in Franklin, Tennessee to write and record their new album. It was the first time in over a decade that all were together in the same studio. Armed with a new sense of dedication to themselves and to their fans, they went back to their roots and pulled inspiration from some of their earliest influences and musical heroes. With time to reflect on their journey thus far they began preparing their next steps forward as a band.
The project's first single, the poignantly powerful, guitar-driven "Alone Again" was written by the entire band and is a fitting first offering of the sonic journey on which the world is about to join them. But beyond its moving lyrics and soaring melodies, it is a rally cry and a statement of a group of artists who are here to stay and ready more than ever to be heard.

Doom Metal Legend WINO Cites COVID-19-Related Conspiracy Theory While Canceling His Appearance At PSYCHO LAS VEGASScott "Wino" Weinrich has canceled his appearance at this weekend's Psycho Las Vegas festival. The doom metal godfather and THE OBSESSED founder, who was scheduled to play an acoustic set at the event, pulled out of the festival after organizers said attendees and artists will have to comply with all state and local COVID-19 protocols, including a mask mandate.
In an official statement posted to the official THE OBSESSED Facebook page, Wino fuels the conspiracy theory that coronavirus is a genetically engineered bioweapon that U.S. researchers helped create, and that thousands of doctors, scientists and elected leaders are apparently conspiring to hide the truth. Wino goes on to claim that he has done extensive research through YouTube, scientific publications, journals and lectures, and insists that the evidence points to the the virus existing and being weaponized.
Wino's August 19 statement in full reads as follows: "Two evenings ago, I received an email from Psycho Las Vegas, wherein they informed me, and other artists, that this event would require that all people, attendees and artists, wear a mask at ALL times indoors. The exception only being while singing on stage, all non-singing musicians, band members, etc. are required to be masked during the performance. This includes drummers. Also, as soon as the performance is over, artists will be required to re-don masks in backstage, front of house, vip lounges, and common areas.
"I have dug very deep when researching covid-19 not just on youtube, but in scientific publications, journals, lectures, etc. I BELIEVE THE VIRUS EXISTS, and has been weaponized as has been proven in congressional hearings where the evidence is overwhelming. Our govt (NIH) has been complicit in the financing, and shared scientific lab work creating a SARS based super coronavirus, designed specifically for lethality and easy dissemination amongst the human population.
"Bio-weapons are nothing new, but in my personal opinion pure evil. Early on in the so called pandemic it was stated by the CDC that PCR tests were inaccurate in determining if one had the virus, because they are designed for individuals who already were symptomatic. The CDC quickly backtracked as it was a desirable test to cause FALSE POSITIVES. Also, the Innova rapid tests have been recalled by the FDA for also giving inaccurate results. Mainstream media did not report this, and these tests are still in use. A paper mask was also first said by the WHO and so called experts to be useless against the virus, then of course the official word was again changed.
"My personal beliefs are: We are under the authoritarian cloak of a small cadre of unelected so called 'elite' who are beyond rich and consequently consider themselves above the common man. This virus I believe was created as a depopulation tool, and the fear associated with it as a means to subjugate and enslave you and I, the common people.
"I cannot, in good conscious, perform my music in an environment that is designed to take away individuality, civil liberties and free will. I will not be performing this night at Psycho Las Vegas, not out of fear, but principle. If we, the people, continue to blindly accept this tyranny we are destined for enslavement.
"These are my personal views, but I urge everyone to dig deep. My apologies to my friends and fans, but it's time to wake up."
Wino and the rest of THE OBSESSED originally hit the road with THE SKULL in July but THE SKULL was forced to drop off the tour earlier this month after that band's lead singer, fellow doom metal legend Eric Wagner (formerly of TROUBLE), was hospitalized for COVID pneumonia.

PLUSH Cover "Down In A Hole" By ALICE IN CHAINS In New VideoPlush recently performed a cover of "Down In A Hole" by Alice In Chains on SiriusXM Octane Next Wave.
Plush is an all-female rock band with a mission––to bring an all-girl rock band back to the forefront of the music industry. This female rock force is fronted by singer/guitarist Moriah Formica, drummer Brooke Colucci, lead guitarist Bella Perron and bassist Ashley Suppa.

Plush's first single "Hate" is out now on all digital platforms via Pavement Entertainment. The song was produced by Johnny K (Staind, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed).
The song is very personal for frontwoman Moriah Formica. She says, "It's about somebody who broke my heart in a very bad way. I was just so angry and sad, but I couldn't bring myself to actually say 'I hated you' to that person, because the truth is I really, really loved that person, and I just hated that I loved them."
Reflecting on the video shoot, Moriah says, “It was amazing as a newly formed band to play in a historic theater, especially during a pandemic where we haven’t had the opportunity to play a live show yet. We also had the chance to really bond as a band, spending the whole day together.”
Plush wants to bring back the heart of rock to the mainstream with a new and fresh spin on the sounds you already love. It has been quite a while since an all-female rock act has hit the mainstream, and Plush hopes to inspire young women everywhere to follow their dreams, regardless of whatever challenges may get in the way.

SOULFLY's ZYON CAVALERA: 'Salty' MARC RIZZO Is 'Trying To Drag My Family Name Through The Mud And Play The Victim'SOULFLY drummer Zyon Cavalera has blasted his former bandmate Marc Rizzo, saying that the guitarist is trying to drag the Cavalera "family name through the mud and play the victim."
Although Rizzo's departure from SOULFLY wasn't officially announced until August 7, it was widely speculated that he was out of the group two days earlier when it was revealed that FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares will play guitar for SOULFLY on the band's upcoming U.S. tour, which kicks off on August 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Rizzo addressed his split with SOULFLY in a new interview with Aftershocks TV. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I haven't been happy in SOULFLY for a long time. The fans know what's up, man. It's all over the message boards.
"I always had a lot of love and respect for [SOULFLY leader] Max [Cavalera], but these last couple of years have just been very difficult. It's no secret that he's not really playing guitar up there on stage, at least to the level that he should be. The fans are talking about this. They've been talking about this stuff for years. It's all over the message boards, how people just aren't happy. And I also was not happy, as a fan and also playing in the band. So it was a long time coming. And then this whole COVID situation, the lack of support this year, it really just opened up my eyes that, 'You know, man, now is the time.' It's just not worth my time anymore. I'm not getting out what I'm putting in. And, again, it's all documented. You go on YouTube and you pull up any video, you can see it right there with your own two eyes.
"Whatever Max is saying in the press, listen, he can say whatever he wants to," Marc continued. "He's been doing that kind of stuff for years — against [his former bandmates in] SEPULTURA and old members [of SOULFLY]. And the fans know who I am. I hang out with all the fans. I'm very, very accessible after all my shows. No big deal. It's water under the bridge for me."
Asked if it's going to be difficult for him financially to rely completely on his solo projects in order to get by going forward, Rizzo said: "I've been doing my solo project since 2005 [or] 2006, and that's what got me by in between all the SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY tours. I was never on a retainer — SOULFLY never did retainers, which is kind of an industry standard for bigger bands. There was never a retainer, so for me, it was never an option to get a retainer. So I went out and just started doing my solo gigs, and that's how I got by all these years when SOULFLY would decide to just randomly say, 'Hey, we're taking seven months off,' and you wouldn't get any notice. That would happen all the time. And so then I would go out and book my solo stuff. It would be on a smaller level, but I still was able to get by and do my thing. Which I'm very grateful — I'm very grateful to the fans that they've always supported me and came out to my solo gigs. It's obviously not as big as the concerts that I've played with SOULFLY, but I'm fine with playing in front of, like, 20 people at a small bar… But I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that this last year during COVID that the band I was in for 18 years was supportive, 'cause it's not true. It's just facts. There's a lot of things that are leaking now online that showcase that. It is what it is, man. But I plan on just moving ahead and staying positive and try to keep it all positive for me."
Zyon, who is the 28-year-old son of Max and his wife and longtime manager Gloria Cavalera, touched upon some of Rizzo's recent comments in Instagram Stories earlier today (Wednesday, August 18). He wrote: "This is for anyone who doesn't understand how the music business works. During the pandemic, independent contractors [most musicians] were able to receive grants and such thru the govt. My bands guitar player didn't file that paperwork for some reason and now is trying to drag my family name thru the mud and play the victim. There's alot of people buying into that.
"Now that the dust is settled if anyone has any questions feel free to DM me LOL.
"Dude got salty cuz he didn't fill out the paperwork and blamed us for it," Zyon added. "And we paid him a large sum of money in February 2021 to record a new record. So how did we not help him thru the pandemic?"
Earlier this week, Max told Metal Kaoz that Marc has been spewing out "lies and bullshit" in some of his recent interviews regarding his exit from SOULFLY. "All these accusations — it hurts," he said. "It hurts to hear. After everything that we did for him, which was a lot — we put him on all the records and always took really good care of him, always really, really gave good treatment to him. To hear him backstabbing us like that, it's just not nice. He's obviously trying to get fans to be against me and make him the victim… It just sucks to hear all that. It definitely hurts me when I hear all these accusations that I know are lies and bullshit; it's all fabricated by his crazy mind. I don't know. It's a strange situation."
He added: "I don't want to turn this into an ugly thing. I don't wanna talk bad about him; I really don't. Of course I don't like those accusations, and it's bullshit, but he has the right to say whatever. But I think we treated him really good through all those years. We put him on the map pretty much. When he joined the band, not many people knew him. Just a little bit of gratitude would have been nice. Because even on 'Max Trax' [Cavalera's a twice-weekly Internet video series in which he discusses the inspiration for many of the songs spanning his nearly 40-year music career], when I mentioned that I fired him, I thanked him for the 18 years of SOULFLY, and I said good luck on his projects. I'm not bitter. I don't wanna be a bitter guy.
Rizzo joined SOULFLY in 2004, and has since appeared on all of the band's subsequent records, including "Prophecy" (2004), "Dark Ages" (2005), "Conquer" (2008), "Omen" (2010), "Enslaved" (2012), "Savages" (2013), "Archangel" (2015) and "Ritual" (2018). In 2007, Rizzo became a member of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the side project of SEPULTURA co-founders, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and has performed on all CAVALERA CONSPIRACY releases including "Inflikted", "Blunt Force Trauma", "Pandemonium" and the critically acclaimed 2017 LP "Psychosis".
Rizzo was originally a member of New Jersey Latin metal favorites ILL NIÑO, appearing on their classic 2001 Roadrunner release "Revolution Revolucion" and the 2003 follow-up "Confession". 19

SCATTERED STORM Debut New Video For HP Lovecraft Inspired “Necronomicon”Scattered Storm released their debut EP Oblivion, in July via Blood Blast Distribution powered by Nuclear Blast. The EP is an introduction of much more music to follow from the Texas supergroup that is comprised of seasoned musicians Andre Acosta and Ed Razor from Pissing Razors fame with band founders Jay Arriaga (No Life On Earth, Years Of Cold), and Kevin Armstrong (Mondoshawan, Section 6).
From the very tuning of the 7 and 8 string guitars and the very specific tonality, they produce the ambience provided by the keyboards to layers and layers of vocals to really convey Acosta’s sound. This is all finished off with the main focus, that catchy riff and rhythm to have the songs stay on people’s minds and headbanging along.
The EP's main theme is darkness in various situations like social, personal, and the fantasy world. The EP lyrically touches on many social and fantasy subjects, one being their HP Lovecraft inspired track “Necronomicon”, which the band are sharing their new music video, which features clips of them performing live in their hometown of El Paso, TX.

BEHEMOTH's latest EP, "A Forest", was released in May 2020 via Metal Blade. The EP's title track is a cover of THE CURE classic, and it features a guest appearance by SHINING frontman Niklas Kvarforth. The "A Forest" EP also includes a live version of the title track as well as the two songs from the "I Loved You At Your Darkest" sessions.
In January 2019, ARCH ENEMY released a compilation, "Covered In Blood", of all cover songs the band has recorded throughout its career.
In the fall of 2018, Amott revealed that he had commenced the songwriting process for the follow-up to the "Will To Power" album. Released in 2017, that disc marked the second ARCH ENEMY album since the departure of longtime singer Angela Gossow and addition of Alissa White-Gluz. It was also the first ARCH ENEMY disc to feature former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis, who joined the band in late 2014.
CARCASS will release its seventh studio album, "Torn Arteries", on September 17 via Nuclear Blast Records.
In 2019, the band released its first single in over five years, "Under The Scalpel Blade", followed by a four-song EP titled "Despicable" (October 2020), setting a potent precedent for "Torn Arteries".

THE ROLLING STONES To Release 40th-Anniversary Editions Of 'Tattoo You'THE ROLLING STONES have announced the release of 40th-anniversary, expanded deluxe editions of their chart-topping, multi-platinum 1981 album "Tattoo You" via Universal Music.
The newly remastered set, out on October 22, will be accompanied by no fewer than nine previously unreleased tracks from the era. The first of these, the irresistible rocker "Living In The Heart Of Love", is available now on all digital services, and "Tattoo You (40th Anniversary Edition)" is available to pre-order in multiple formats here.
Today's announcement comes 40 years to the week since the celebrated album was first released on August 24, 1981, and as the rock 'n' roll legends prepare to return to the road with 13 new dates on the "No Filter" tour in the U.S. The new itinerary starts on September 26 in St. Louis and extending into November.
Anticipation for the new editions of "Tattoo You" will be high among STONES devotees and new admirers alike. The 40th-anniversary remaster of the original 11-track album includes such enduring favorites as "Hang Fire", "Waiting On A Friend" (showcasing jazz saxophone giant Sonny Rollins) and, of course, the opening track that's been a band signature ever since, "Start Me Up". The deluxe formats will also include "Lost & Found: Rarities" and "Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982".
The "Lost & Found" disc contains no fewer than nine songs from the period of the album's original release, newly completed and enhanced with additional vocals and guitar by the band. Among these, "Living In The Heart Of Love" is a quintessential STONES rock workout with all of the group on top form, complete with urgent guitar licks and fine piano detail.
Other highlights of "Lost & Found" include a killer version of "Shame, Shame, Shame", first recorded in 1963 by one of the band's blues heroes, Jimmy Reed; their reading of Dobie Gray's soul gem "Drift Away"; and a fascinating reggae-tinged version of "Start Me Up".
"Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982" is an unmissable memento of the band's London show in June of that year on the "Tattoo You" tour. The mighty 26-track set is packed with STONES mega-hits, including an opening "Under My Thumb" and all-time greats such as "Let's Spend The Night Together", "Honky Tonk Women" and "Brown Sugar".
The Wembley show has covers of THE TEMPTATIONS' "Just My Imagination", Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock", THE MIRACLES' "Going To A Go Go" and early rock 'n' roller the BIG BOPPER's "Chantilly Lace". It also features early live workouts for tracks from the then-new "Tattoo You" such as "Start Me Up", "Neighbours", "Little T&A" and "Hang Fire".
Universal Music's "Tattoo You (40th Anniversary Edition)" follows the 2020 reissue of THE STONES' 1973 landmark "Goats Head Soup", which took the album back to No. 1 in the U.K. Remarkably, this marked the second time their peerless catalogue had produced a U.K. chart-topper twice over, after 2010's deluxe edition of their 1972 staple "Exile On Main St."
On first release, "Tattoo You", produced by the Glimmer Twins with associate producer Chris Kimsey, topped the charts in the U.S. (where it went quadruple platinum), Canada, Australia and across much of Europe, with gold and platinum awards around the world.

SOLAR CROSS - Finnish Progressive Death Metal Trio Of Brothers Featuring Former Members Of OMNIUM GATHERUM Sign To Transcending RecordsFinnish progressive death metal trio Solar Cross, featuring former members of Omnium Gatherum, has joined Transcending Records for the release of their Echoes Of The Eternal Word full-length late this Fall.
Since prehistoric times, a cross within a circle has been a symbol for wholeness. It represents the great cycle of being, the mythic Eternal Return. This powerful primordial symbolism can be heard in the music of Solar Cross: straightforward yet nuanced metal with lyrics that draw inspiration from Finnish folklore and personal ritual relationship with natural cycles.
Formed by a triumvirate of the brothers Harri Pikka, Lauri Pikka, and Jarmo Pikka, the archetypal quaternity is completed by the lyricist, author Matti Rautaniemi. The band’s impending debut album, Echoes Of The Eternal Word, crosses the boundaries between ancient and modern. It strikes deep into the most primal layers of its listener’s soul.

NIKKI SIXX Is 'So Happy' MÖTLEY CRÜE Decided Against Touring During The PandemicMÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx says that he is "so happy" he and his bandmates decided against hitting the road during the pandemic.
CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus crisis.
Late Tuesday night (August 17), Nikki took to his Instagram to share an image containing the text: "I'm so happy we decided to not tour during this pandemic… …. 100%". He added in a caption: "Not a hard decision to make when so many people's lives are at risk. I MISS IT 'REALLY' BAD AND CAN'T WAIT TO HIT THE ROAD IN 2022 #MotleyCrue @motleycrue #thestadiumtour".
Last month, Sixx told Marci Wiser of the 95.5 KLOS radio station that MÖTLEY CRÜE "really did wanna go" on the road "this year. It's a little scary to go out there and have the tour maybe get canceled half way," he said. "And I know a lot of bands are out there and they're testing the water and it looks really positive; I'm super excited.
"We have 30-some stadiums in America [booked for the tour]," he continued. "And we'll see. Maybe we might even drag it to Europe, South America, Japan — we don't know yet. Right now it's a little far off. But us and DEF LEPPARD are super close; that's great. And we'll just see what version of 'The Stadium Tour' might fit for other countries, if we decide to go. Maybe it'll be the same lineup. I know people are super stoked for the lineup. It's a good outdoor fun party evening."
As of January 30, 2020, "The Stadium Tour" had already grossed $130 million from one million tickets sold, plus another $5 million worth of VIP seats, according to Billboard.
Tickets ranged from $150 to $400, not counting some varied pricing that reflected demand as part of "dynamic pricing."
When it happens, "The Stadium Tour" will mark the CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRÜE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017 — but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.

ARTIFAS Release Official Music Video For Single "Cut Me Out"Hard rock band Artifas has released the official music video for their new single "Cut Me Out". The single is from their forthcoming album titled Reflections, due out November 19.
"'Cut Me Out' is about cutting toxic people out of your life. Sometimes the most toxic people around you are the ones that are not so easily removed. At some point you have to stand up and say enough is enough, cut me out. The artwork for this record is all about reflection. Whether it’s someone in a dark place reflecting the poor decisions made, or whether someone is reflecting the beauty of the world on front of them," says the band.

After two years of writing, recording, and mixing, Artifas has completed their new album, and plans to unleash it upon the world. With catchy guitar riffs, dizzying drums, and soaring melodies, Reflections will send you on an emotional journey, exploring the band’s semi-prog, radio rock sound while diving deeper into the human complex with lyrics centered around self awareness and the bands own struggles with mental health.
The goal for the creation of this album was to make a record that met the band’s expectations and you can rest assured they held nothing back. Mixed and mastered by Forrester Savell (Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus), Reflections promises to wow you with musical prowess, all the while delivering Artifas’ important message on unity, inspiration, and the sempiternal battle between dark and light.
Staying true to the promise they made their fans, Artifas has been on hiatus since their last show in October 2019, working, learning, and preparing for the release of their new album and the beginning of a new chapter in the ArtiStory.

BLACK STONE CHERRY Postpones European Tour Due To COVID-19Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY have been forced to postpone their fall 2021 European due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier today (Thursday, August 19), the band issued the following statement: "To our amazing fans in Europe: We are incredibly sad to have to reschedule our November tour planned for mainland Europe. Again COVID issues have now made this an impossibility.
"Travel issues coupled with capacity restrictions in some territories mean that we can no longer undertake the tour as planned. This will affect all shows between November 1st and 25th inclusive.
"On a more positive note though, we have successfully rescheduled the entire tour for September and October next year and all tickets will remain valid for the new dates.
"We really appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as well as your continued support through these difficult times.
"We'll see you soon."
The band added: "The UK tour next month is still happening! We only had to move the mainland Europe tour to 2022 because of more intensive travel restrictions."
BLACK STONE CHERRY's rescheduled European tour dates can be found below.
In June, BLACK STONE CHERRY announced the departure of bassist Jon Lawhon. He has since been replaced on the road by Steve Jewell Jr., the guitarist from the Glasgow, Kentucky band OTIS.
The digital-only release of an expanded edition of BLACK STONE CHERRY's seventh studio album, "The Human Condition", will be made available on August 27.

THE GEORGIA THUNDERBOLTS Release “Can I Get A Witness” Lyric VideoThe Georgia Thunderbolts have just unveiled “Can I Get A Witness”, a smoldering new track off their upcoming full-length, Can We Get A Witness, out October 15th via Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group. Pre-orders can be placed now at this location.
The song represents "overcoming the obstacles in life," vocalist TJ Lyle explains. "Everybody has their ups and downs, but it's how you persevere and prosper through adversity that shows your true colors. ‘Can I Get A Witness’ is a statement that goes out to anyone who has the desire and faith in themselves and others to be successful."

The Goergia Thunderbolts are ushering in a new generation of classic southern rock steeped in soul and the blues. “We’re going for that timeless and classic sound with a modern twist and newer attitude,” exclaims TJ. “We all grew up on rock music,” guitarist Riley Couzzourt adds. “If I could think of three words to describe us, they would be ‘Hardworking, Determined, and Humble.’” Drummer Bristol Perry grins, “If I could think of three words, they would be ‘Rock And Roll.’”
Whether it be on the banks of the Mississippi River or deep in the heart of the English countryside, rock ‘n’ roll lives, breathes, and burns on the outskirts. Hailing from Rome, GA at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, The Georgia Thunderbolts’ debut album features their scorching signature style steeped in soulful southern swagger, blistering blues, and raw rock. With a wide swath of inspirations, ranging from southern gospel and Hank Williams to Merle Haggard, Neil Young, Little Feat, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band cut their teeth performing with everyone from The Allman Betts Band, and Blackberry Smoke to Kentucky Headhunters & Black Stone Cherry. Shortly after, they hit the iconic Barrick Recording Studio in Glasgow, KY to record with producer Richard Young.
The resulting album comprises thirteen undeniable anthems steeped in anthemic riffs, wild harmonica, and pulse-pounding drums. From the bluesy blend of “So You Wanna Change The World”, to “the first song we ever wrote,” the dynamic “Looking For An Old Friend”, The Georgia Thunderbolts rustle up a new era of rock ‘n’ roll, informed by their history in Rome, a town with a deep agricultural history. So when they sing, "Spirit Of A Workin' Man", you better believe they mean it. "It's got a deep lesson to it. You can't knock down the little man," TJ says.
There's a message to what we're doing," Bristol says. "It's okay to be yourself. If you're going through hard times, the music will always be there. We'd love to remind everyone of that.” “Rock and roll is something that comes naturally for us,” Riley, Zach and Logan conclude. “We love it and are in it for the long haul. We feel like we can bring it back.”

"Take It Slow"
"Lend A Hand"
"So You Wanna Change The World"

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's Concert In San Francisco Canceled Over Bandmembers' 'Unvaccinated' StatusFLOTSAM AND JETSAM's previously announced concert in San Francisco has been canceled due to the "unvaccinated" status of some of the bandmembers.
The Arizona metal veterans' concert on August 25 at the DNA Lounge was scrapped by the venue after the San Francisco mayor announced that the city will be requiring both proof of full vaccination and masks in bars, restaurants, and all indoor settings.
In a post on the DNA Lounge web site, the venue wrote: "We are sorry to report that the FLOTSAM AND JETSAM are unvaccinated, and so we were forced to cancel this show.
"Get vaccinated! Especially if you are on tour!"
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM kicked off its U.S. tour on August 17 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The band is promoting its latest album, "Blood In The Water", which came out in June.
"Blood In The Water" was once again mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (U.D.O., VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, POWERWOLF).
Formed 35 years ago, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, released its landmark debut, "Doomsday For The Deceiver", the only album to ever receive a 6K rating from the influential British magazine Kerrang! Bassist Jason Newsted left to join METALLICA after their bassist Cliff Burton was killed in a tour-bus crash in Sweden in September 1986.
In a recent interview with Arizona Central, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM singer Eric "A.K." Knutson said: "We're very hungry for it. We feel like it's our turn to get to that next level like TESTAMENT or DEATH ANGEL or any of those other bands that have been around as long as we have. They all made it to that next level. And they deserve it. They worked their butts off for it. But we never quite got to that point."
"We've learned that you have to put the work in. Those guys put the work in. [MEGADETH leader] Dave Mustaine, he's not the nicest guy in the world. But he is a hard worker. And he put in the work every day of his life to get where he is."
Knutson went on to say that METALLICA put the work in, too. "But they also got super lucky and were in the right place at the right time doing the right kind of songs," he said. 1

LIVE NATION Canada To Require Proof Of Vaccination, Negative Rapid Tests At ConcertsCommitted to bringing concerts back in the best ways, today Live Nation Canada announced that it will be rolling out protocols requiring all artists and fans to either show proof of COVID vaccination or a negative COVID test to enter shows at Live Nation Canada's fully owned and operated venues, where permitted by law. Live Nation Canada said it will have the policy in full effect nationwide no later than October 4, 2021, though many shows will likely implement these protocols sooner as they look to make the switch as soon as possible. Additionally, beyond October 4, all Live Nation Canada employees will need to be fully vaccinated in order to work at or visit venues or offices.
As the global leader in live entertainment, Live Nation has been doing shows around the world throughout the summer. Vaccination and testing have proven to support the safe return of concerts at full capacity, and Live Nation Canada is advocating that the industry at large adopt similar health check requirements at this time. Live Nation has already implemented this model at events and festivals across the U.S. and U.K., including Lollapalooza, Latitude, Camp Bestival and Wilderness. Data has continued to show the approach successfully allows everyone to enjoy live music, while also inspiring more people to get vaccinated. For example, at Lollapalooza 90% of the festival's 400,000 attendees showed up fully vaccinated, with 12% of those fans reporting that Lollapalooza was their motivation for getting vaccinated.
"Live Nation and the live music industry are about uniting people, and vaccines are one of the greatest tools for making sure that everyone can continue to enjoy live music together," said Wayne Zronik, president business operations, Live Nation Canada. "We're confident this is the right move for everyone coming out to shows, including artists, fans, crew, and our staff."
While studies have shown outdoor environments are inherently low risk, Live Nation will still be rolling out the protocols at outdoor venues and festivals out of extra precaution. Live Nation Canada's owned and operated venues include Budweiser Stage (Toronto), History (Toronto), The Danforth Music Hall (Toronto), Commodore Ballroom (Vancouver), Midway (Edmonton), and The Velvet Underground (Toronto). Live Nation is also sharing best practices for artists to request these policies at third-party venues where Live Nation promotes shows but does not control protocols.
As each event approaches, ticket purchasers will receive updates via e-mail with the important information needed to plan their visit to Live Nation Canada's eve

“This time around we’ve made something new and fresh in our sound. We felt it from the very first song that was written; this will take us to a whole different level in terms of arrangements, riffs, vocals... everything. We are super-excited to share this with our fans, and in cooperation with the greatest label ever,” says Olaisen.
Imperial Congregation delivers quality, old school sound while reflecting in part upon the self righteous nature of humanity and its incessant need to destroy itself through power, ignorance and religion.
“We live outside this system,” explains Olaisen. “We don’t join in on the sheep mentality. Create your own possibilities, be responsible for your own misery or success!”
The haunting, organic album artwork was designed by the infamous Marcelo Vasco. The image displays a flock of old, religious men as they meet in secrecy to design the laws of lower society.
“Many of our lyrics deal with our skepticism of religion, and of mankind in general. Be free or be dead,” says Olaisen. "Two gigantic skeletons tower over the men of worship as they dictate human fate by candlelight."

LIFE OF AGONY Cancels Fall 2021 'Straight Outta Lockdown' European Tour Due To COVID-19 ConcernsBrooklyn, New York metal outfit LIFE OF AGONY has canceled its fall 2021 European tour with DOG EAT DOG due to COVID-19 concerns.
The "Straight Outta Lockdown" trek was scheduled to kick off on November 25 in Bochum, Germany and conclude on December 14 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Earlier today, LIFE OF AGONY released the following statement: "With the ongoing uncertainty of new COVID restrictions, LIFE OF AGONY has decided to cancel their November 2021 tour with DOG EAT DOG. Hopefully, when things improve, the tour can happen again sometime in the future. Refunds available at point of purchase."
LIFE OF AGONY's most recent studio album, titled "The Sound Of Scars", was released in 2019 to critical acclaim. It was named "Album of the Year" by The Aquarian Weekly and took the No. 1 spot on Metal Hammer's (Germany) "Best Of 2019" list (alt-rock/punk).
Earlier this year, LIFE OF AGONY released a full-length documentary, also titled "The Sound Of Scars". The project began more than two years ago by U.K.-based director Leigh Brooks and was filmed across several countries while LIFE OF AGONY was on and off the road.
"The Sound Of Scars" utilizes personal archive footage, rare photographs, and lost interviews, along with new, never-before-seen conversations with the band and their family members that tells the story of how three friends overcame domestic violence, substance abuse, and depression to form one of the most influential bands in its genre. Through the success of their groundbreaking 1993 debut "River Runs Red", hailed by Rolling Stone as "one of the greatest metal albums of all time," they channeled their cumulative life stories into a soundtrack for a broken generation. At the time, that newfound fame allowed them to escape the tragedies of their pasts, but in the wake of their accomplishments, unforeseen obstacles arose. The 90-minute film also takes a deep dive into lead vocalist Mina Caputo's gender transition.

DAVE MUSTAINE Says He Wanted To Make A Band That Was 'More Metal Than METALLICA'Gibson TV has released a trailer for the Dave Mustaine episode of the "Icons" series, which is scheduled to premiere tomorrow (Thursday, August 19) at at 10 a.m. PDT / 1:00 p.m. EDT. In the one-minute clip, which can be seen below, Mustaine recalls how he spent the bus ride back from New York to California after being fired by METALLICA in 1983.
"The ride home from New York was long. I knew it was gonna be long. The ride out [to New York] was long. The ride out was dangerous," he said, referencing the incident when METALLICA almost died in Wyoming while travelling cross-country en route to meet Megaforce Records founder Jonny Zazula in New Jersey. "The ride out was bad. Because of the crash in Wyoming, I think that that's what made me the guy that had to go. I don't know. I probably was destined to leave before that because of, you know, the word 'destiny' and the fact that there was just so much talent and so much personality between the four of us. I don't know that we could have survived. There was destined to be some kind of an explosion at some point.
"I did a lot of soul searching on the way home," he continued. "Did I wanna play guitar? Did I wanna keep doing this? 'What am I gonna do? I got it. I'm gonna make a band that's more metal than METALLICA.'"
In a 2009 interview with Norway's Lydverket, Mustaine said that he was "so hurt" by getting kicked out of METALLICA for allegedly drinking too much. "I said, 'What?! No second chance, no warning? C'mon, we all drink. C'mon.'" he recalled. "And [they were like], 'No, that's it. You're gone.' And I was like, 'All right.'"
Mustaine also went on to claim that an altercation with METALLICA frontman James Hetfield led to his being fired from the band.
"I was selling pot," Dave said. "When I would go play in concert, people knew that my pot was sitting in my apartment just saying, 'Go ahead and keep me company.' So I was broken in on. People stole everything that I had; all my stash. And I figured, screw this. I'm gonna get some dogs to stay in the apartment when I leave. So I got two dogs and I took one of them up to a rehearsal one time and she put her paws up on Ron's [McGovney, METALLICA's then-bassist] car. And James kicked it right in the side. And I was like, 'What did you do?' [And I was like] 'It's a dog, it's what they do. You don't kick animals.' So we went into the house, and we started arguing some more. And I ended up punching him in the face and I think that was the root of why I lost my job."
In a 2009 interview with the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks, Hetfield said that it was "so odd" to hear Mustaine still talking about his exit from METALLICA. "It is very Dave, and that's him," James said. "And no matter what band he was in or whatever... I mean, Dave is not in this band for a reason, and this is the reason. It's super-simple. He was in the band for 11 months and it goes on and on and on and on and on. I don't know any other band on this planet that there was a member in the band for a short amount of time and they've still got this big chip on his shoulder. It's insane.... You know what?! He's in love, and that's fine, 'cause we love him back."
Back in 2016, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told the "Word Of Wheeler" podcast that he understood Dave's continued resentment toward his former bandmates over the way he was dismissed from the group. "I've always seen Dave as someone who was just really, really sad, really angry, really frustrated about his situation with METALLICA, and he never could let that go," he said. "And, you know, I've always shown a lot of empathy for him, understanding that he was just pissed off. It's the equivalent of the woman of your life leaving you. I mean, really. When your band kicks you out… I've never been kicked out, but I can imagine it's a horrible experience, especially if it's a band that you feel really passionately about. So I can understand Dave's plight over all these years. But I will also say that when we did these 30th-anniversary shows at the Fillmore [in San Francisco], and we invited Dave to play on all those 'Kill 'Em All' songs, man, it felt so good to have him playing on stage. It felt perfectly fine for me to, while Dave was playing the guitar solos, for me to go over to James and play the rhythm parts with James, and it wasn't a big deal at all. And I could see from the look on Dave's face and just from his whole attitude that it was super-cathartic for him. And I could see how it was helping him. And so I just took it all in stride. And it's interesting, because since then, I think, Dave's relationship with us is a little bit better now. I'd like to think that that whole thing just kind of healed some scars that needed to be healed."
After Hammett's comments about Mustaine were reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET and other music sites, Dave took to his Twitter to respond. He wrote: "I have tremendous respect for @KirkHammett and I appreciate his take on this. he is almost 100% accurate...almost. I wish him the best."
In a September 2011 interview with Artisan News, Mustaine appeared to concur that his onstage reunion with METALLICA went a long way toward healing the wounds from the way his tenure in the band ended. Dave said: "When we [played a cover of DIAMOND HEAD's] 'Helpless' [as part of a 'Big Four' jam] one night, I walked over to say hello to Kirk on the stage and he said, 'Do you wanna take the solo?" and I said, 'Yeah.' [Laughs] But we forgot to tell anybody on the stage or [running] the sound out front that I was gonna do the solo, so the song's playing along and Kirk's playing rhythm full blast, and I'm sitting there going you can't hear what I'm doing. At least we knew what had happened. It was kind of a symbolic passing of the torch back to me and it was a nice gesture. I think that that helped Kirk and my relationship improve a bit."
In a September 2004 interview, Mustaine famously stated, "I really don't care about Kirk — he stole my job, but at least I got to bang his girlfriend before he took my job. How do I taste, Kirk?"
Mustaine did not play on any METALLICA albums and did not attend their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2009.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich later explained to The Plain Dealer that Mustaine was not included because "you've got to kind of cap it somewhere. Dave Mustaine never played on any METALLICA records. No disrespect to him. But there [were] half a dozen other people that were in the lineup in the early days. We thought . . . the fair thing to do would be to include anybody that played on a METALLICA record." He added: "Dave Mustaine was in the band for 11 months, predominantly in 1982... I'm not trying to play it down. I have nothing but respect and admiration for his accomplishments since." 4

ALICE IN CHAINS And PUCK HCKY Team Up For New Hockey-Themed Apparel CollectionPuck Hcky, the hockey-based fashion brand, has released a new collection of gear with ALICE IN CHAINS.
Matt Marini, CEO of Puck Hcky, says: "WOW! Had I been told back in 1991, when I saw them at an intimate, one-off-show at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Lansing, Michigan, that someday I would be involved in an ALICE IN CHAINS collaboration, I never would've believed it! Total dream come true for us. This is the band that truly brought the Seattle sound to all of us lucky fans and they continue to do so now!
"Every release ALICE IN CHAINS has put out has been special, from the heavier material of 'Facelift' and 'Dirt' to the acoustic jams of 'Jar Of Flies' to the new records, we love it all.
"It is an honor for Puck Hcky to be releasing this collection that we designed together, we could not be more thrilled! ALICE IN CHAINS is on the daily playlist at Puck Hcky, and always will be."
The Alice In Chains x Puck Hcky collection features pro-quality crested jerseys, hoodies, flannels, joggers, hats, raglans and tees.
The entire collection is available at www.puckhcky.com.
Based in Royal Oak, Michigan, about 10 minutes north of Detroit, Puck Hcky started in 2015 when Marini decided that the hockey world needed a "cool" fashion brand and his partner, Puck Hcky president Amy Steffek, pushed to "go for it." "So we jumped in, and Puck Hcky was born," Marini told California Rubber. "We are having an absolute blast with the brand and growing day by day. We have an amazing crew here, too. Everyone is totally focused on making Puck Hcky the go-to hockey-fashion brand for the masses."
Regarding Puck Hcky's artist collaborations, Marini said: "What makes all of the collaborations special is that we truly get each partner to participate in the creation of the designs, which brings a certain level of authenticity to the end-products. We refuse to put any product out for sale until they are 100 percent approved by each partner we work with. It's awesome." 3

Ex-OZZY OSBOURNE Guitarist GUS G. Unveils Cover Artwork, Track Listing Of New Solo Album 'Quantum Leap'Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., well known in rock and metal circles for his work as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist and as leader of his own band FIREWIND, will release a new solo album, "Quantum Leap", on October 8 via AFM Records. The cover artwork for the disc can be seen below.
"Quantum Leap" track listing:
01. Into The Unknown
02. Exosphere
03. Quantum Leap
04. Chronesthesia
05. Enigma Of Life
06. Judgement Day
07. Fierce
08. Demon Stomp
09. Night Driver
10. Not Forgotten
11. Force Majeure (feat. Vinnie Moore)
Gus discussed the upcoming effort in a new video message posted to his YouTube channel. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It's my first all-instrumental solo album. So this means there's no vocals at all, no guest singers; it's just me and my guitar. You've already heard a couple of the singles. The first one was called 'Exosphere'; it came out in April. And the second one was called 'Fierce', which we made a pretty hilarious video for. I hope you checked it out. There's gonna be a third single coming out at the end of August for another song, which is totally different; it's not metal at all.
"I'm really excited about this album," he continued. "It was about time that I stepped up and did a full-on instrumental guitar album. A lot of people have been asking me and pushing me to do this. And to be honest, I always turned it down. But I think the recent situation with the pandemic and the fact that everybody, we all had to stay locked in in our houses and we went through months of quarantine and lockdown, that kind of sparked ideas and got me to… Music was my only gateway, basically, so that's what I did; I just made songs. I couldn't fly to another country and meet with other musicians and do pre-production or anything like that, so I just decided to write stuff on my own and just make a guitar album.
"There's a lot of cool stuff on there — different stuff. Obviously, my style is all over the place. I tried to push the envelope a little bit and explore some new things."
Regarding the other musicians who appear on "Quantum Leap", Gus said: "I have two amazing players with me on the record. One of them you already know. It's Dennis Ward [PINK CREAM 69, UNISONIC]. Dennis has worked with me in the past. We've worked together the past five years, actually. We've done two FIREWIND albums together. He's been co-producing and co-writing with me. And also my previous solo record, 'Fearless', he played bass and he sang. He's a great singer. He's a multi-talented guy. He mixed and mastered the record and also played bass on most of the songs. I played bass on a couple of the tracks. I also did the keyboards. And I also have a great drummer from England, [Jan-]Vincent Velazco. He's great. He plays amazingly. You already heard him on the first two singles."
As for why he chose to name his new solo album "Quantum Leap", Gus said: "I liked the title. It sounded nice. It was something different. 'Quantum leap' means when you're taking a big step, so for me, making an instrumental album and letting my guitar do the talking was a big step for me, for once. I've always worked with singers and collaborated with many people, but this time, I decided to just let the guitar be a voice. So this was my quantum leap."
In September 2019, Gus issued a digital-only solo EP, "Live In Budapest - Part 1", consisting of four tracks recorded on the guitarist's headline European tour in support of his latest album release, "Fearless". The world tour saw Gus and his band share stages around the world with legendary guitarists like Richie Kotzen, Vinnie Moore followed by his own headline dates and a massive tour as special guest of Los Angeles rockers STEEL PANTHER.
"Fearless" was released in April 2018 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Brand New Revolution" marked Gus's first release since exiting Osbourne's band in 2017.
On "Fearless", Gus joined forces with Ward and drummer Will Hunt (EVANESCENCE).
FIREWIND's ninth, self-titled studio album was made available in May 2020.
The band recently parted ways with guitarist/keyboardist Bob Katsionis and singer Henning Basse.
FIREWIND's new vocalist is Herbie Langhans, who has previously played with AVANTASIA and SINBREED. 1

Ahead of the single's release, the band have released the official music video for the song. Watch below, and pre-order/pre-save the single here .
“Catch Me If You Can” picks up the pace and builds on the momentum created by the band's highly successful 2018 release You Can’t Kill My Rock N’ Roll. This saw the band travel across the globe from America to Australia, playing to some of the largest audiences of their career and including an unforgettable night, where they broke attendance record for a headline act on the opening night of the world famous Sweden Rock Festival.

Loud, aggressive and totally unrelenting, “Catch Me If You Can” bursts out the speakers with an onslaught of attitude, combined with a pounding backbeat and a chorus that hits like a freight train. This single sets the tone perfectly for the band's upcoming album Abrakadabra, which is scheduled for release in March 2022.
Recorded at both Osterlycken and Bombastik in Musikhens Hus in Gothenburg, the band returned to their roots to work with acclaimed producer Johan Reiven, who they previously collaborated with on their 2005 Black Album. The result is an intense and hard-hitting collection of songs that drummer Adde Moon describes as a “natural follow up to the Black album” and definitely “an album for the fans that is best shared with good friends, cold beer and very loud speakers."

HATE To Release Rugia Album In October; Title Track Visualizer Video Streaming NowOn October 15, Hate will release their new album, Rugia, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a visualizer for the title track can be found below.
No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland’s Hate. With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft even further. “It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from our previous record, Auric Gates Of Veles (2019), both musically and lyrically.
However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you,” states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991. Fresh blood in the band’s line-up also helped contribute to Rugia‘s unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place. “Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for me. Nar-Sil’s technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon’s, and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure rage.”

The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three weeks, with longtime collaborator Michał Staczkun providing the ambient elements of the band’s sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage, where the final character of the record emerges. “Here we encountered many problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find a good compromise and it took us a few months.” Given how strongly the personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best sounding record in the band’s long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever. “Well, the fire is still burning! I’m proud that I have built a band with such strong energy, that’s lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a channel for energies that surpass us.”
