VOLBEAT's 'Wait A Minute My Girl' Tops BILLBOARD's Mainstream Rock Chart

VOLBEAT's 'Wait A Minute My Girl' Tops BILLBOARD's Mainstream Rock Chart

VOLBEAT's latest single, "Wait A Minute My Girl", has topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. The song is the Danish/American band's ninth No. 1 song on the chart, and ties AEROSMITH for the artist with at least nine songs that have topped the Billboard chart. VOLBEAT previously shared its music video for "Wait A Minute My Girl" directed by Sean Donnelly, founder of AWESOME+modest, with collages by Mengqing Yuan and animation by Steve Yeung. AWESOME+modest is an animation studio based in Los Angeles, California that specializes in mixed media techniques. They most recently created all of the animation in the HBO documentary miniseries "The Lady And The Dale", Marvel's "Behind The Mask" and Showtime's "The One And Only Dick Gregory".

The band said of the video: "After seeing the work they did on 'The Lady And The Dale', we knew that Sean and the team at AWESOME+modest could do something trippy and creative for 'Wait A Minute My Girl'. This video exceeded even our wildest expectations. It's weird, fun and crazy — we absolutely love it."

"Wait A Minute My Girl" and VOLBEAT's other new single, "Dagen Før", were written and recorded while the world was in lockdown during the pandemic. Poulsen, Larsen and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) recorded their parts with longtime producer Jacob Hansen in Denmark, while Rob Caggiano (guitar) worked remotely from New York.

"Wait A Minute My Girl" features saxophone player Doug Corcoran and piano player Raynier Jacob Jacildo, who both perform with JD McPherson's band and previously appeared with VOLBEAT on 2019's "Die To Live (feat. Neil Fallon)". Singer Mia Maja, who has worked with the band since "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie", also appears on backing vocals. "Dagen Før" features guest vocals from Danish artist Stine Bramsen, who is known for her solo work as well as being a member of the band ALPHABEAT. The song, in the tradition of "The Garden's Tale", "Maybele I Hofteholder" and "For Evigt", features both English and Danish lyrics, and marks the first commercially released song that features Stine singing in her native Danish.

MOD CLASSICTK Streaming Title Track From H8 EP

MOD CLASSICTK Streaming Title Track From H8 EP

Thrash band MOD ClassicTK has released the official music video for the title track "H8" today. The single is from their new EP titled H8 that released to the masses on July 30 via Force 5 Records. The five song EP was produced by Tim McMurtrie and Eric Rachel and was mixed by Eric Rachel.

“When talks of a 30 year reunion failed, Kenny and I decided we were going to do this ourselves. We found a sick, shredding-throat vocalist in Donny 'The DRP' Polinske, formally of Sore and Primer 55, and asked my old friend James Demaria of Heathen and Toxxik to smash down some drums and here we are over 34 years later, Donny is also the owner of Force 5 Records which put out the band's first EP H8," says Tim McMurtrie.

He adds, "This EP had me turning the power switch back on, putting my mindset back into the thrash classic sound that we helped to originate in the underground scene back in the ‘80s.
The crossover genre of punk, metal, and hardcore is what we bring back to the table on this five song banger. Together with Kenny’s undeniable bass tone and my riffing we sound like we never stopped playing together. Adding Donny and James to this EP broke down all the barriers put in front of them. They crushed this thing and people are noticing what’s transpired. And with all the amazing tracks laced from the guest appearances of Michael J Romeo, Marc Rizzo and Thom Hazaert, this thing is truly what our true fans wanted since 87."

MOD ClassicTK features Tim McMurtrie (aka "The riffmaster”) and Ken "Angry Corpse” Ballone, the original founding members and unmistakable legendary ferocious rhythm section of M.O.D. Method of Destruction. Both performed on the classic first release USA for MOD in 1987 (Megaforce Records). Tim also toured on the 1988 Hate Tank Tour opening up for Thrash legends Exodus for 60 plus show dates in the United States. In addition, Tim McMurtrie recorded and wrote over 90% of the 4th M.O.D. release Rhythm Of Fear in 1992 (Megaforce Records).

After some thought on the new project, a new recording and some brainstorming, Tim decided to not just do one record with 25 songs on it like the old days, but instead to record five EP’s with five songs on it and five different drummers, five different producers and possibly five different labels within a couple of years.

As tons of support grew in the scene the two thrash pioneers went all out and paired up with Felix Griffin (DRI), one of the most noted drummers in the crossover thrash genre, as well as James Demaria of Heathen & Toxxik. Walt “Monsta” Ryan is known for not only killing it on the drums but for being in some of thrash, hardcore and metal’s biggest bands. Dr. Chud of the Misfits and Michael Sabatini of Attacker joined for this onslaught of 5 Chapters of EP’s coming out from 2021-2022.

HEADLESS Feat. Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Singer GÖRAN EDMAN Premiere AC/DC Cover “Two’s Up”

HEADLESS Feat. Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Singer GÖRAN EDMAN Premiere AC/DC Cover “Two’s Up”

The European progressive hard rock group Headless – composed of members who have performed alongside the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, Geoff Tate (ex-Queensryche) and Elegy – have unveiled a music video for their newest single, a cover of AC/DC's “Two's Up.”

Says the band, “(Guitarist) Walter Cianciusi came up with the idea of recording an AC/DC cover. He is a huge fan of Angus & Mal's band. Walter particularly loves the AC/DC albums of the ‘80s, which also contain lesser-known songs and real hidden gems. Once, while listening to the song 'Two's Up,' he realized that Göran Edman could sing it too, making a Headless song out of it. At first, the other members of the band were skeptical, but after hearing the final result, everyone exclaimed, ‘Wow, Göran really made the song his own.’”

The song - which is now available for streaming and download on all digital platforms - is the third official preview of the band's new record (and M-Theory Audio debut) Square One, which will be released on September 24. The album - which showcases the band's blend of classic rock catchiness with heavier progressive metal influences - is now available for pre-order on CD, digital and limited-edition cloudy blue sky colored vinyl, and the limited exclusive Belt of Venus pink variant with autographed photo (only 100 made), here.

“The hype is real! The new Headless album will be released in September, with exceptional artists like Göran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) and Martin Helmantel (Elegy) working together on original music for the first time,” explains the guitar duo of Walter Cianciusi and Dario Parente. “The new single 'Streetlight Buzz' showcases the band's vast amount of hard rock influences stretching from Queensryche to Thin Lizzy, with hints of Judas Priest and guitar harmonies over fast double-bass work typical of '90s-era Helloween. The lyrics are inspired by Dostoevsky’s novel 'The Dream of a Ridiculous Man.' The video basically tells the story using neon technology and placing the characters invented by the genius of Dostoevsky in a futuristic context."

The upcoming release of Square One is the latest chapter in the saga of a band whose members have amassed an impressive array of credits throughout their respective careers. Göran Edman has been the group's lead vocalist since 2011. The two Headless albums to which he has lent his melodic croons so far - 2013's Growing Apart and 2016's Melt The Ice Away - join a lengthy resume that began in the 1980s as a part of Swedish hard rockers Madison and Swedish Erotica; included stints during the 1990s as a vocalist for Yngwie Malmsteen and John Norum (Europe); and continued with multiple groups into the 21st Century, most notably alongside members of The Flower Kings in the progressive metal band Karmakanic.

Sweden's CAP OUTRUN Sign To Frontiers; Label Debut Due In Late 2021

Sweden's CAP OUTRUN Sign To Frontiers; Label Debut Due In Late 2021

Frontiers Music Srl welcome Swedish rock band, Cap Outrun, to the label's roster. Their label debut is slated for release in late 2021, with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Cap Outrun formed in Sweden in 2007 when Andrée Theander and Erik Gafvelin Wiss met at a Swedish university for music production and started to make music together. The two youngsters wrote and recorded a lot of songs and with a little help from a bunch of friends, six of the songs ended up on the very first Cap Outrun release, Influence Grind (2008). The music was somewhat complex with odd time signatures and unexpected song structures, but still contained memorable melodies and pop-flavored choruses. This perfect blend of rock, metal, and jazz made them fairly well-known within the underground world of prog rock lovers for a period of time. Andrée and Erik graduated from university and they decided to go their separate musical ways. Since then, they have stayed good friends, but were working on their own careers: Andrée as a session player, guitar teacher and with his own AOR/Westcoast project Theander Expression, while Erik started to build his own studio and mainly focus on producing and mixing records by other bands, like Creye, Cruzh, and Arctic Rain to name a few. Cap Outrun was essentially on hiatus after that self-released EP… until now.

”It feels great to work with Frontiers on this release and I’m anxious to hear what the label’s followers will say about it. Ever since Mr. Big, who’s one of my all time favorite bands, released their ”What If” record, I’ve been following the label’s awesome releases and I’m both impressed and grateful for what they’re doing for the rock music scene today. I’m thrilled about joining them with Cap Outrun and everybody in the band is very excited about this!” says guitarist Andrée Theander.

Although Erik continues with his studio work and he is still involved in Cap Outrun, he has decided to take a step back as the main keyboardist and that spot has been given to the very talented session player André Egbo. Vocalist Chandler Mogel (Double Vision, Outloud), bassist Linus ”Mr. Gul” Abrahamson (Andromeda, Constanica), and drummer Johan Ludvig Rask round out the lineup.

The writing and production process for the upcoming album, High On Deception has been a very successful collaboration between Andrée and Erik. Musical influences are everything from Swedish progressive rock bands Kaipa and Karmakanic to legendary American bands like Toto and Boston. Some of Andrée’s and Erik’s friends have even mentioned Dirty Loops when they’ve dropped around Erik’s studio in Stockholm while the album was still in the making. [Who knows, maybe it could have something to do with bass player Linus’ close collaboration with the Dirty Loops members Henrik Linder and Aron Mellergård for their newly released bass and drum transcription books?] High On Deception is a distinctive record filled with playful odd time signatures and interesting harmonies, but it never loses its core of strong melodies and an exceptional groove.

Stay tuned for more news soon.

Cap Outrun lineup:

Chandler Mogel - Lead vocals
Andrée Theander - Guitars and backing vocals
Johan Ludvig Rask - Drums and percussion
Linus Abrahamson - Bass
André Egbo - Keyboards

AEON Reveal God Ends Here Album Details; "Church Of Horror" Lyric Video Posted

AEON Reveal God Ends Here Album Details; "Church Of Horror" Lyric Video Posted

On October 15, Aeon will release their new album, God Ends Here, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a lyric video for the new single, "Church of Horror", can be viewed below.

With 2012's Aeons Black standing as one of the defining death metal albums of the twenty-first century, it has been a long wait for the follow up. In 2021, Sweden's Aeon finally return with its successor, God Ends Here, and in doing so only up the ante with a record that is bigger, harder and stronger in every way. A darker, even more epic collection, it is everything an Aeon fan could want with a few surprises in store, pushing the genre in new directions, and once again asserting that they are one of the most important bands in extreme metal.

The main reason for the gap between records lies in finding the right drummer, having had a few pass through their ranks in the interim, Dark Funeral/Imperium drummer Janne Jaloma now manning the kit. Making his recording debut with the band is also bassist Tony Östman, who joined in 2013, during the touring cycle for Aeons Black. Guitarist Daniel Dlimi, who departed the Aeon fold in 2013, also returned to the band's ranks in 2019, which inspired guitarist Zeb Nilsson to write, having really missed collaborating with him.

Drums were recorded in Jaloma's own Studio Starköl, guitars and bass in the band's own Rise to Dominate Studio, and the vocals were recorded at Metallfabriken Studio, where some guitar re-amping was also done. Producer Ronnie Björnström, who presided over Aeons Black, once again oversaw proceedings, making sure everything sounded as big as possible. Expanding the sonic palette are strings and choirs, the orchestral elements primarily programmed by Nilsson with Dlimi handling those on "Mephistopheles", while Nilsson wrote the choir parts. With dramatic artwork by Italian artist Paolo Girardi the final piece of the puzzle, the finished package extends Aeon's legacy and gives the genre the push that was intended from the outset. They may have been gone a long time but make no mistake: Aeon are back, and God Ends Here will lay waste to all.

God Ends Here can be pre-ordered here in the following formats:

- jewelcase-CD

LIVLØS Reveals Crushing New Single And Video "And Then There Were None"; New Album Available In October

LIVLØS Reveals Crushing New Single And Video "And Then There Were None"; New Album Available In October

Danish death metal phenomenon, Livløs, have established themselves as an essential new name in the international metal scene. Their brand of Scandinavian melodic death metal, influenced by bands like At The Gates and Carcass, paired with American-rooted death metal in the vein of Death and The Black Dahlia Murder, has already earned the five-piece appearances at Copenhell, Eurosonic and Spot Festival.

Today, the band announce the upcoming release of their new full-length album, And Then There Were None, out October 22 via Napalm Records. The album shines as an ambitious, grandiose and intense work of metal, and a thematic deep dive into life and death on numerous levels.

The band has also revealed the album’s first single and title track, “And Then There Were None”, giving a glimpse of what a colossal masterpiece they are about to unleash! “And Then There Were None” is an impressive display of their modern approach to melodic death metal – with pounding drums, dynamic guitars and punishing vocals! Livløs are the band to watch in metal in 2021.

Watch the music video for “And Then There Were None” below.

On their new album, And Then There Were None, Livløs are audibly on top of their game: scrupulously ripping through nine tight, hard-lined tracks, the band takes no shortcuts while still maintaining a dynamic songwriting style that keeps listeners on their toes throughout the album’s runtime. Album opener and title track “And Then There Were None” sets the pace with punishing vocals and raging death metal riffs, leading into dramatic choruses and guitar solos that display Livløs‘ incredibly multi-faceted talent right off the bat. Only very rarely will the band give listeners time to breathe, like on acoustic intermission “Kistefjael” or the slowed-down, stomping “The Purest Black”, which ends the album experience of And Then There Were None in a triumphant, epic manner. Songs like “Seize The Night” are impressive depictions of singer Niklas Lykke’s broad vocal range, reaching from deep and guttural to high-pitched and ear-piercing sections.

Excellently mixed by Jacob Bredahl (ex-Hatesphere) and mastered by Brad Boatright (known for his work with Obituary, Nails and Torche among others), And Then There Were None is an exceptional display of Livløs‘ confident, modern approach to melodic death metal, meticulously executed from start to finish - revealing more of what it has to offer with every listen. Livløs prove that they are here to stay with And Then There Were None.

And Then There Were None will be available as a digipak CD and digital album, as well as 1LP gatefold black vinyl and an exclusive transparent red 1LP gatefold (limited to 200).

Pre-order here.

LORD OF THE LOST Present Elaborate Music Video For "Viva Vendetta"

LORD OF THE LOST Present Elaborate Music Video For "Viva Vendetta"

Lord Of The Lost released their new album, Judas, on July 2 - subsequently securing the band’s highest ever charting position at #2 on the German album charts. Even after this success, the Hamburg based band isn’t taking a break - following up with their most elaborate music video ever.

"Viva Vendetta" forms the basis of the double bonus album, LOTL+, which was included with some already sold-out physical album formats. LOTL+ consists of 32 versions by befriended bands and artists based on the instrumental tracks from "Viva Vendetta". None of the artists were privy to the album concept or any further info on Judas, resulting in 32 fundamentally different versions.

The video for the album version of "Viva Vendetta" is set in a dark western scenario, in which the band members take on different roles: a blacksmith, a priest, a sheriff, a bartender and a hermit. They are all haunted by a dark entity, already known from the videos for "Priest" and "For They Know Not What They Do". No matter where we stand in society, we are all equal before higher powers - this message is conveyed in a music video that is over seven minutes long and meets the highest cinematic standards.

Whether the five lonely cowboys in "Viva Vendetta" are cursed and damned by the protagonist, or saved and redeemed, can be interpreted either way in the end. Thus, even a Wild West music short film creates the actually absurd connection to the album concept of the Damnation and Salvation of Judas Iscariot.

Lord Of The Lost on the new video: "Even though we managed to transfer the basic theme of our Judas concept to the 'Viva Vendetta' video, many may still ask what a western has to do with the topic, or us as a band at all. The answer is quite simple: Nothing at all! We just felt like the visual aesthetic of our own little Tarantino fantasy mashup. And that's exactly what should drive an artist at heart: The desire to create, freed from all boundaries, especially your own."

On Judas, Lord Of The Lost tell of this conflict from the perception of the character of Judas Iscariot, known as highly diverse, and the so-called Gospel of Judas, a paper that's said to consist of conversations between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot and casts a different light on religious history as it's told in the Bible's New Testament.

Lord Of The Lost on Judas: “Don’t judge a book by its cover. This sentence could hardly apply any better to someone in theological history than to the figure of Judas Iscariot, who represents only one thing at first glance: Betrayal. If you take a closer look, almost endless possibilities of interpretation open up here: from "Judas the murderer" to "Judas the redeemer" and "Judas the actual martyr", who, if you believe in it, could only find room in hell for his salvific betrayal after dying for what he did, in complete contrast to Jesus Christ. This field of tension and the apocryphal writings of the "Gospel of Judas" are the basis for a double album that not only illuminates the dark and light side of history, but above all the grey areas in between, in which we move emotionally and ideologically throughout our lives and try to find our place.”

THE SCREAMING JETS - 30th Anniversary Re-Release Of Debut Album, All For One, Delayed Until October

THE SCREAMING JETS - 30th Anniversary Re-Release Of Debut Album, All For One, Delayed Until October

It’s with extreme disappointment that The Screaming Jets have announced a delay in the release of the 30 Year Anniversary Edition of their groundbreaking debut album, All For One. The release date will now be October 22.

Accompanying this change is the rescheduling of all current tour dates, into 2022, with new dates to be advised in due course. Both changes are unavoidable given the current status of border restrictions and Covid lockdowns across Australia. All album pre-orders and tickets will remain valid for these new dates.

The band has sent the following message to fans: "Unfortunately, for all the obvious reasons, we are going to have to postpone our 30th Anniversary tour and album release.  We will come back to you with new tour dates as soon as we can - there are a lot of great people working on how we can deliver this tour for you in the best way possible. But we're not the only band suffering in this instance so please give us a moment to work through it, while we all work together to keep Aussie music live. The covid situation is also impacting on the production of the physical version of the album so we need to move its release date to October 22nd to - so we can deliver it to you direct on vinyl or CD to allow you to play it loud and proud.

"If you're ordered the album and a ticket - don't worry we've got you. The album will be sent out week of release still and your ticket will move to the rescheduled date.

"Thanks for supporting us - we would love to show how much we appreciate you - we will soon when we can see you again hot and sweaty in a venue!"

In 1990, five blokes from Newcastle called The Screaming Jets took the Aussie music scene by the scruff of the neck and gave a red hot shake.

Before they had even signed their first record deal with rooArt Records, the Screaming Jets had already clocked up more than 200 live shows, won the ‘Triple J Battle Of The Bands’ competition and established themselves as an onstage, no holds barred, powerhouse of Aussie rock n roll.

At the time, Kerrang described frontman Dave Gleeson as “a tattooed madman, hell on heels, he leaps around the stage like an epileptic in a minefield: a real horror show cross between Alex from Clockwork Orange and, in part, Mike Patton. Between songs his patter is a hilarious cocktail of equal parts vitriol and obscenity”.

In 1991 they released their debut album, All For One, which peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts. The second single from the album, "Better" was the song that introduced the band to the world, and saw The Screaming Jets embark on their first world tour - to Europe, UK, US and Canada.

“For a bloke from Cardiff, who’d spent a few years touring round Australia, to find himself on the other side of the world sharing the stage with the likes of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, INXS, and yes, even a band room with Spinal Tap was something beyond my wildest imagination,” says Dave Gleeson.

Flash forward to 2021 and as a 30th year anniversary celebration, and a tip of the hat to where it all began, the current lineup has rerecorded the All For One album with a fresh new take. Overseen by original producer, Steve James, the album has been repackaged with new artwork with a clear reference to the original.

Dave Gleeson says of the recording process: “The plan was always to re-record the album for this milestone. We just didn’t realize we’d be recording under these circumstances. One of the things that we’ve always loved about the recording studio is that it’s a bunch of blokes, locked away in our own world creating and mucking on. Obviously that option wasn’t open to us due to Covid, so we had to do it like the kids do. Our producer Steve James pulled it all together and because we weren’t messing around with arrangements it all went down very quickly and painlessly.”

The relentless touring that followed the initial album release saw The Jets tour with iconic bands like The Angels, The Choirboys and Divinyls as well as headlining their own tours, and building a die-hard live fan base across Australia and the world. Fast forward 30 years and The Jets are ready to celebrate the anniversary of the album that started it all with a national tour. The band will perform All For One in its entirety from start to finish for the very first time.

"It's nice to revisit some of those songs. A bunch of them we still play live to this day, but during the re-recording of some of the songs we haven't done for a while...wow, the memories just come flooding back and hopefully it'll be the same for our loyal fans. This tour may even bring people out who haven't seen us for a while. Maybe there will be people there to judge whether we are the same as 30 years ago. Maybe they'll think we are better. We haven’t toured together for 18 months – so it’ll be like a rebirth...which could get messy!,” says Dave Gleeson.

All For One will be released on Digital, CD, Black Vinyl & Purple Vinyl formats. Pre-order here.

Watch Former METALLICA Bassist JASON NEWSTED Unbox Deluxe Version Of 'Black Album'

Watch Former METALLICA Bassist JASON NEWSTED Unbox Deluxe Version Of 'Black Album'

A 15-minute video of former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted unboxing the upcoming limited-edition deluxe box set version of the band's classic 1991 self-titled LP, better known as the "Black Album," can be seen below.

"Metallica" marked Newsted's second studio album with METALLICA after he joined the group in 1986 as the replacement for the late Cliff Burton.

In a 2016 inteview with Billboard, Newsted reflected on the "Metallica" writing and recording process, saying: "Everybody had built themselves up through hard knocks and scars and so forth to be ready for what was coming, to create this thing that was bigger than all of us and greater than any of us. That includes all the people that worked with us, like the label and QPrime [management] and [producer Bob Rock]. [Rock] came in and he whipped us into shape about tonality of things and power of things and actual sound quality. We were ready for him, he was ready for us, the world was ready for the sound. We didn't sit down and say, 'It's gonna be like this,' no, but I think we pulled in somebody who could control us for a second, harness us for a second, and everybody put their nose to the stone and worked hard, like METALLICA always did, and the floodgates just opened and we got the fruits from it. I'm really proud of what we did."

Newsted added that his favorite song on "Metallica" is "Sad But True" — "Just because of the weight, the six-string bass and that big, big bottom," he said — but he was also very fond of "My Friend Misery", on which he had a songwriting credit. "It was the bass, by itself, introducing that song, which was not the easiest thing to do at that time within that band," he explained. "That was a moment where those guys kind of bowed and said, 'Here you go, man, put your song on there,' being the guy who came up with that; as opposed to being part of the team, I got to be myself for a minute there, which was a real accomplishment."

The Black Album is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed records of all time. Its 1991 release not only gave METALLICA its first No. 1 album in no fewer than 10 countries, including a four-week run at No. 1 in the U.S., its unrelenting series of singles — "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam" and "Sad But True" — fueled the band's rise to stadium headlining, radio and MTV dominating household name status. The album's reception from the press was similarly charged, building over the years from the top 10 of the 1991 Village Voice Pazz & Jop national critics poll to becoming a constant presence in the likes of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. The album's impact and relevance continue to grow — as proven by one indisputable fact: The Black Album remains unchallenged as the best-selling album in the history of Nielsen SoundScan, outselling every release in every genre over the past 30 years.

To commemorate its 30th anniversary, the Grammy-winning, 16-times-platinum-certified Black Album is receiving its definitive re-release on September 10 via the band's own Blackened Recordings. Remastered for ultimate sound quality, The Black Album remaster will be available in multiple configurations including 180-gram double vinyl LP, standard CD and 3 CD expanded edition, digital, and limited-edition deluxe box set (containing the album remastered on 180-gram 2LP, a picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs (containing rough mixes, demos, interviews, live shows), 6 DVDs (containing outtakes, behind the scenes, official videos, live shows), a 120-page hardcover book, four tour laminates, three lithos, three guitar picks, a METALLICA lanyard, a folder with lyric sheets, and a download card).

THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Featuring Members Of FEUERSCHWANZ, AMARANTHE And AD INFINITUM Release First Single And Music Video "Jenny Of Oldstones"

THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Featuring Members Of FEUERSCHWANZ, AMARANTHE And AD INFINITUM Release First Single And Music Video "Jenny Of Oldstones"

The Dark Side Of The Moon, consisting of members of Feuerschwanz, Amaranthe and Ad Infinitum, enters the scene with a bittersweet reinterpretation of Florence & The Machine's Game Of Thrones soundtrack song, "Jenny Of Oldstones". Multi-talented vocalist Melissa Bonny breathes new soul into the song, playfully switching between soft clean vocals and oppressive growls in her very own manner.

With "Jenny Of Oldstones", The Dark Side Of The Moon set the direction to transform musical themes from cinematography, TV shows and video games into powerful and epic modern metal tracks and add completely new elements through the characteristic guitar playing of Hans Platz, as well as the use of the harp. In doing so, The Dark Side Of The Moon will not limit themselves to cover versions, but will also write original songs.

The Dark Side Of The Moon on "Jenny Of Oldstones": "We are proud and happy to present 'Jenny Of Oldstones' - you've never heard the song from Game Of Thrones like this! Heavy metal is incredibly expressive, there are so many ways to form a song’s musical and dynamic look - we create the images and emotions in the listener's mind just by the power of music. From this came the idea to metalize film music - we bring you Cinematic Metal!

"We can hardly believe it - half a year ago this song was the result of a bet made by Melissa and Hans, but this song led us to something really big - because of this one song Napalm Records signed us, an international band was formed, and now we are hard at work producing a full album! We'll show you the dark side of songs you thought you knew!"

Watch the official music video for "Jenny Of Oldstones" below:

It all started with a bet between Melissa Bonny and Hans Platz. Whoever lost owed the other a "dare". Hans won and challenged Melissa to record a metal version of "Jenny Of Oldstones" with him. So the band began to turn their favorite cinematic themes into powerful metal songs.

BEYOND THE BLACK Sign With Nuclear Blast

BEYOND THE BLACK Sign With Nuclear Blast

One of the brightest stars in the symphonic metal universe has found a new home: Nuclear Blast Records welcome Beyond The Black to the ranks of the worldwide NB family.

The band states: "After an exciting and successful time with our former record label, we are ready to open a new chapter of Beyond The Black today. As a band, we stand together as strong as never before and in Nuclear Blast we have found a powerful label partner with a great team who are going to join forces with us to bring Beyond The Black to a new level. Also, deciding for the world’s biggest Metal label feels somewhat like coming home!"

With their astronomical rise after the release of their debut album Songs Of Love And Death, the band around singer Jennifer Haben went supersonic – most recently reaching a number of impressive chart positions with fourth LP, Horizons.

Lauded by press and fans alike, the band gained immediate international interest as they quickly became the most successful symphonic metal band to come out of Germany. Throughout their career, they have already shared the stage with acts like Aerosmith, Korn, Scorpions, and Within Temptation.

Marcus Hammer, Managing Director of Nuclear Blast GMBH, states: "We're thrilled to welcome Beyond The Black as a new member of the Nuclear Blast family. We're talking about an exceptional artist with talent and passion that raises huge hopes into their meteoric rise only being the start of something bigger. We couldn't be any happier to be an important partner for Beyond The Black from now on and support the band on their future path - we're looking forward to a fantastic time and a promising future for both partners!"

Jens Prueter, Head of A&R Nuclear Blast Europe adds: “We are very proud to welcome Beyond The Black to Nuclear Blast Records. It’s amazing what they achieved so far: top 5 entries in the German charts, TV appearances, sold-out shows, and regular guests at the biggest festivals. A success that also caused envy but not everyone is as talented as Jennifer Haben and her band, and not everyone has such a spirit of hard work. It’s a pleasure to follow their strong vision and it’s a great addition to the Nuclear Blast artist roster where they will be in good company with Nightwish, Epica, Amaranthe, or Battle Beast. Special thanks to their manager Benjamin Küfner for making this happen. Let’s explore new horizons!”

Beyond The Black will start 2022 with a breath taking co-headline tour throughout Europe alongside label mates Amaranthe. Tickets are already on sale.

Beyond The Black is:

Tobi Lodes - Guitar
Chris Hermsdörfer - Guitar, Vocals

CHARLOTTE WESSELS Performs New Single "Masterpiece" Live With Former DELAIN Bandmate TIMO SOMERS

CHARLOTTE WESSELS Performs New Single "Masterpiece" Live With Former DELAIN Bandmate TIMO SOMERS

Former Delain singer and songwriter, Charlotte Wessels, is gearing up to release her first solo endeavour, Tales From Six Feet Under, out September 17 via Napalm Records. Below is a live performance of the song "Masterpiece" featuring her former Delain bandmate, Timo Somers.

Unable to perform live due to the pandemic, Wessels spent most of last year buried in her Six Feet Under home studio, writing, performing and producing an eclectic wealth of songs. Tales From Six Feet Under offers her favorites out of the bunch. All instruments and vocals on these ten intimate and honest songs were performed or programmed by Wessels herself - except for the exciting collaboration with Alissa White-Gluz on the haunting track "Lizzie" - showcasing the multifaceted nature of Wessels, including her exceptional ability to express the most sincere feelings and emotions within her art.

Charlotte Wessels states: “In May 2020, I started releasing a song every month on Patreon as an outlet for my surplus of music, and tracks I wrote that didn't fit my band. The year that followed was an absolute roller coaster, from living through a global pandemic to closing a chapter so dear to me. It shows through these songs, made right here in my Six Feet Under home studio. Producing these songs with the support of a wonderful community has been a lifesaver during such turbulent times, and I'm happy to bring them out of the basement and into the world with this release. Let me tell you the Tales From Six Feet Under.”

Tales From Six Feet Under is an electrifying collection with gems ranging from melancholic indie pop to synth-infused rock. The record features Wessels’ rendition of Goth classic “Cry Little Sister”, as well as a beautiful synergy of the stunning voices of Charlotte Wessels and Alissa White-Gluz on “Lizzie”. It also debuts a song in Wessels’ native language with the Dutch rocker “Afkicken”. The mesmerizing and haunting “Victor” was released in April this year along with a visually palpable music video. “Soft Revolution” showcases the artist right where the magic happens; in her Six Feet Under studio. The song - part sweet sorrow, part soaring call to action - is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Tales From Six Feet Under will be available in the following formats:

- 1 LP Gatefold Black
- 1 LP Gatefold orange/cream marbled
- 1 LP Gatefold viola/cream marbled (Patreon exclusive)

MOTÖRHEAD Launches Ace Of Spades Signature Series Bourbon

MOTÖRHEAD Launches Ace Of Spades Signature Series Bourbon

Brew Pipeline, in its latest collaboration with Motörhead, recently announced the launch of the new Ace Of Spades Bourbon, reports Gary Carter of The Whiskey Wash.

“After years of development, we’re excited to finally release Motörhead Ace Of Spades Bourbon,” said Steve Kwapil, CEO and co-founder of Brew Pipeline, in a prepared statement. “We wanted to ensure that the bourbon would be able to stand on its own. Proof Artisan Distillers quickly recognized the band’s vision and the end result is incredibly unique, complex and smooth.”

The Motörhead-approved bourbon is aged four years in charred oak barrels. It's a blend of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% barley. It comes in at 90 proof.

Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell have contributed to the development of the bourbon’s flavor profile with frequent tastings throughout the process.

Launching nationwide across The United States in September, Motörhead Bourbon has a suggested retail price of $39.99 for 750ml bottles. Learn more at this location.

Nose:

An initial distinctive “In-Your-Face” punch of a high rye bourbon, quickly evolves to a rounded balance of sweet notes including butternut and vanilla and toasted oak. A balanced combination of spicy sweet, which is in contrast to the predictable dessert-like sweet.

Palette:

Spice and grains takes the lead with cinnamon, rye, black pepper and a hint of mint.  The 90 proof warmth quickly eases into full bodied bourbon notes of oak, caramelized brown sugar, tobacco and cocoa.  Complex waves of spice and sweetness take alternating turns with each approach of the tasting.

Finish:

The waves gradually subside from full bodied bourbon to sweetness, to wax walnut, and ultimately ending in a single note: Cinnamon. A single note that lingers and resonates – like echoes from the amplifier – Ace Of Spades.

CREEPING DEATH - The Edge Of Existence EP Due In October, Video For Title Track Available Now

CREEPING DEATH - The Edge Of Existence EP Due In October, Video For Title Track Available Now

Texas death metal torch bearers, Creeping Death, will unleash The Edge Of Existence on October 8 via Entertainment One.

Crafted at Homewrecker Recording Studio in Tucson, Arizona and produced and mixed by Ryan Bram (Gatecreeper, Bitter Rivals, Sex Prisoner), the six-song EP introduces certified hellraisers, "Relics From The Past", "Humanity Transcends", and the title track. The new bangers sit alongside remade and revitalized versions of the three songs from Creeping Death’s 2016 debut EP: "Sacrament Of Death", "Doused In Flames", and "Skinned Alive".

“We’re aren’t trying to be the most innovative death metal band. We just want to be heavy and fun,” guitarist Trey Pemberton notes of the EP, without apology. “You’ll hear a natural progression from Wretched Illusions to The Edge Of Existence. And the next LP will be different, as well. Each release will be at least a little bit different from each other, but they will all still sound like Creeping Death. That’s who we are.”

In advance of the EP’s release, today the band unleashes a video for eponymous EP opener, "The Edge Of Existence". The track showcases the cold, sonic violence that lies within their unique combination of death metal and hardcore, while introudcing a spacious and progressive direction similar to Blood Incantation.

Notes Pemberton of the timely track, “‘The Edge Of Existence’ was the first of several new songs we’ve written since the onset of the pandemic. It begs that all too familiar question, ‘Can people band together for a greater cause? Or will we continue to make the same mistakes until the end of civilization?’”

Pre-orders for the The Edge Of Existence EP can be placed now at this location.

WAYLAND Performs "I'm Not Alright" Live From The Iron Horse Saloon In Sturgis; Video

WAYLAND Performs "I'm Not Alright" Live From The Iron Horse Saloon In Sturgis; Video

Live for the first time ever, watch Wayland perform "I'm Not Alright" at The Iron Horse Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota.

Michigan rockers, Wayland, released “I’m Not Alright" as a single in December 2019 via Fearlyss Entertainment. The song was written by Phillip Vilenski and Mitchel Arnold of the band, along with Brandon “BSAMZ” Sammons, (Bad Wolves).

Grammy award nominated artist and industry veteran Keith Nelson, (Buckcherry, Blackberry Smoke, Alice Cooper, Ricky Warwick) co-wrote the track, recorded, produced, and co-engineered it in North Hollywood, California. The track was co-engineered and mixed by Jun Murakawa (Tool, Slipknot, Chris Cornell, Chevelle) and mastered by Dave Collins, (Alice In Chains, The Avett Brothers, Metallica.) Check out the lyric video below.

“I’m Not Alright” is what will become an instant rock anthem with its real, blaring, vintage guitar tones, memorable chanting choruses, soaring vocals, and bluesy riffs which help tell the story of what it is really about: bringing awareness to the topic of mental health. The song’s “soul” purpose is letting people know that being "not alright” is actually not a problem, but an opportunity to get better.

The song is energetic and fun, which is not something you would expect when describing a mental health song, but lead guitar player and founding member, Phillip Vilenski explains, “Life itself is about being not alright. It is not a place of weakness, but actually the place where change and growth is born, where the magic happens. Admitting you are not okay is your place of power and strength.”

Wayland has joined forces on this release with international non-profit Livin, an organization whose mission statement "it ain't weak to speak," will help inspire anyone that is not alright to reach out.

Catch Wayland live at the following shows:

August
19 - Houston County Fair - Caledonia, MN
20 - Crystal Grand Music Theatre - Wisconsin Dells, WI
21 - The Apollo Theatre - Belvidere, IL

September

DOKKEN Is Planning Retrospective Box Set, Says JEFF PILSON

DOKKEN Is Planning Retrospective Box Set, Says JEFF PILSON

Bassist Jeff Pilson has revealed the classic lineup of DOKKEN is planning a retrospective boxed set.

Pilson, speaking this past spring on the "White Line Fever" podcast, repeated his previously stated ambition for singer Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, drummer Mick Brown and himself to release one more record of completely new material together and also spoke about solidifying the band's legacy by having more of its music licensed in the media.

"We're talking about possibly doing a box set at some point and throwing in a lot of interesting bonus stuff," Pilson told Australian journalist Steve Mascord.

"I mean, I would love to do one more DOKKEN record. Right now Don is involved in his own version of the band and doing a record so we can't really deal with a reunion record at this point. Maybe never. Who knows? But once he's done with that and we address this again, I'd love to do another record. I'd love our legacy to … I just feel like we still have something to say musically. We got together for the reunion a few years ago and we did one new song and our chemistry was as intact as ever. It really felt unchanged. So my sense is it's there and if we tapped into it, we could come up with a great record.

"So that's one thing I'd like to do for our legacy. The other thing is .. I feel like DOKKEN music was under-utilized in just the social panorama of music out there so maybe somebody can do something like that."

Pilson joked the City of Las Vegas could use 1984 single "Just Got Lucky" as its theme song.

"We do have plans for the DOKKEN legacy," he said. "I hope it's concluded with a record but again, it's so hard to say right now and it's hard to predict what's going to happen. But know that we are thinking about it and moving in that direction."

Asked about Don Dokken's recent complications from back surgery which limited his use of his hands, and whether this might affect any reunion, Pilson said: "Only in to what degree his endurance is. I don't think he's done a lot of live performing since that. He's done some so I guess he can do it.

"We haven't talked those sorts of specifics because we haven't really talked a reunion. I mean, we've talked a little bit about it. I guess it's a factor. He's certainly able to write lyrics and melodies so we can certainly work together. I don't think we're limited.

"He was a writer of music as well with DOKKEN but not as much as George — or George and I working together were. So we would have no lack of music. As long as he could write lyrics and melody, we'd be fine."

Pilson was also asked about new material by what is now his main band, FOREIGNER.

"We are working on some new songs, some great new material, but there's absolutely no deadline or schedule or plan for how it's going to come out," he said.

"I think it's safe to say that we're probably not going to do a whole record of all new material. I don't see that on the horizon but I see new material being added in new packages and other things that we're releasing. All I know is we've been working on music and there's some really good stuff out there."

SOULFLY's MAX CAVALERA Is 'Very Hurt' By The Things Former Guitarist MARC RIZZO Has Been Saying In The Press

SOULFLY's MAX CAVALERA Is 'Very Hurt' By The Things Former Guitarist MARC RIZZO Has Been Saying In The Press

SOULFLY leader Max Cavalera says that he is "very hurt" by the things the band's former guitarist Marc Rizzo has been saying in the press since his departure from the group.

Although Rizzo's departure from SOULFLY wasn't officially announced until August 7, it was widely speculated that he was out of the group two days earlier when it was revealed that FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares will play guitar for SOULFLY on the band's upcoming U.S. tour, which kicks off on August 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Max touched upon Marc's split with SOULFLY in a new interview with Heavy New York. Regarding Dino's addition to SOULFLY's touring lineup, Cavalera said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I'm hugely inspired and excited and happy that Dino is doing this with us. Dino is an old friend. Our friendship goes back to the early days of SEPULTURA coming to America. I believe we met on the 'Beneath The Remains' tour. For sure by the 'Arise' tour we were friends. He tells the story better, but he had to wrestle me [over] the [FEAR FACTORY] demo tape that had 'Big God' on it. I loved it. I was listening to it on his Walkman. I didn't wanna give it back to him. And it was his only copy. And we had to wrestle. He finally got it out of me. But I ended up bugging [then-Roadrunner Records A&R executive] Monte Conner at that time and saying, 'You're a fool if you don't sign this band.' I think I even called them 'the future of metal' at that time. I was, like, 'This is the future of metal.' If you pass on it, you're a fool. And then Monte signed them, and the rest is history, as they say."

He continued: "That's why this link, this possibility, the situation that happened and we needed somebody to fill in, I couldn't think of a better person than Dino — musically and as a friend. 'Cause we're still very hurt, mostly from the stuff that Rizzo has been saying — it hurts us a lot. And it's good to have a friend that you could talk about it. And then musically I think it's insane. To think of songs, especially the songs that have crunchy guitars, I close my eyes and I imagine Dino's sound on some of those songs, like 'Downstroy' and 'Babylon'… 'Cause there's a lot of chugging — SOULFLY always had chugging. But Dino is a whole another level of chugging. [Laughs]"

Last week, Rizzo told Pierre Gutiérrez of Rock Talks that he "got no support from SOULFLY" during the pandemic. "There was no sort of loans that were taken out for the bandmembers or the crew," he said. "This is just the honest thing of what happened. I had to go back and get a day job. I was doing home renovations, working very hard, 10 hours a day. A [SOULFLY] live record came out [last year]. I never saw a dime off that. So, basically, within the [first] six months, seven months of COVID, I just said, 'You know, man, I don't want this anymore. I gave you guys 18 years of my life.' And it was a great time. Back in the good years, it was great. But the last I'd say eight to 10 years have not been very good. [I was] away from my family. Scheduling is crazy. It was impossible to have a personal life, see my family, make plans with my family. So, basically, six months into COVID, it was just, like, I don't even wanna do this anymore. I'd rather just concentrate on my solo project and spend time with my family where I'm happy, where I get my credit for everything I do.

"I put 18 years in," he continued. "It's a long, long time to be in the band. When COVID hit, I felt like, what have I been doing these last 18 years? Normally, you work a day job, you get support during a pandemic like COVID. And I was working very hard. I was doing plumbing, electric. Finally, my very good friend Nic Bell at Godsize Booking, he was, like, 'Listen, dude, I can get you back on the road to the states in America that are open.' So he got me to Montana, Texas, Florida, doing my solo project. And I was able to quit my job and get back on track playing music for a living and making money. Big props to Nic Bell, 'cause he was one of the few people that supported me during the pandemic and helped me to get back on the road. Again, I got no support whatsoever from anyone else. So, it's a good thing. Again, I'm very excited about the future."

Asked if it's fair to say that his decision to exit SOULFLY was based on a financial issue, Marc told Rock Talks: "I would say that was one of [the issues] — for this year, yes. There were years that were good financially, but this year — again, there was no loans, there was no, 'Hey, let's do a live video to make money for the bandmembers or maybe let's do a special merch deal.' A lot of my friends, they were doing special merchandise deals. I mean, if you look online, SOULFLY didn't do anything for the bandmembers or the crew. It's just not right to do that to people during a time like this.

"So, whatever, man," he added. "They have the right to run their business however they want to, and I have the right to do I want to do. So, again, I'm very excited to do my solo project. That's what got me through COVID, back to being on the road and doing what I love to do as a living. And then this spawned Tony [Campos, STATIC-X, FEAR FACTORY] and me finally getting together to do a project that we've always talked about. So we're excited with HAIL THE HORNS — we're very, very excited to get that going. I've got my death metal project REVENGE BEAST. And these were guys that called me. They were, like, 'Hey, what's up, man? How are you? How are you doing?' I never got a phone call from anybody in the SOULFLY camp during COVID. It just opened up my eyes this year about what I should be doing in 2021."

Rizzo also confirmed that he hasn't had a conversation with Max since they last saw each at the final pre-pandemic SOULFLY show nearly a year and a half ago. "I haven't talked to Max since [March] 2020 when we played the Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico," he said. "I had no contact with him. I don't think he has a phone, so it's not like I can call him."

Rizzo joined SOULFLY in 2004, and has since appeared on all of the band's subsequent records, including "Prophecy" (2004), "Dark Ages" (2005), "Conquer" (2008), "Omen" (2010), "Enslaved" (2012), "Savages" (2013), "Archangel" (2015) and "Ritual" (2018). In 2007, Rizzo became a member of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the side project of SEPULTURA co-founders, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and has performed on all CAVALERA CONSPIRACY releases including "Inflikted", "Blunt Force Trauma", "Pandemonium" and the critically acclaimed 2017 LP "Psychosis".

Rizzo was originally a member of New Jersey Latin metal favorites ILL NIÑO, appearing on their classic 2001 Roadrunner release "Revolution Revolucion" and the 2003 follow-up "Confession".

Ex-SOULFLY Guitarist MARC RIZZO: 'I Had A Meltdown About Everything About A Month Ago'

Ex-SOULFLY Guitarist MARC RIZZO: 'I Had A Meltdown About Everything About A Month Ago'

Former SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo says that he knew six months ago that he wasn't going to be returning to the band.

Although Rizzo's departure from SOULFLY wasn't officially announced until Saturday (August 7), it was widely speculated that he was out of the group two days earlier when it was revealed that FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares will play guitar for SOULFLY on the band's upcoming U.S. tour, which kicks off on August 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rizzo addressed his split with SOULFLY in a new interview with Sofa King Cool. Regarding the fact that he went out and got a job doing home renovations during the pandemic to make ends meet, Rizzo said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It basically was a survival thing. I did what I had to do. And a lot of musicians — some people made out; some people got these loans, and they made out, and they made money. Some people didn't. And then there was people like me who were basically a hired gun and treated like a hired gun during this whole pandemic. We had to fend for ourselves. And basically that's where the decision came where, six months into being home during COVID, I was, like, 'Man, I don't wanna do SOULFLY. I just don't see the point.' After 18 years of giving my heart and soul and my loyalty and being away from my family three or four months at a time, giving up my personal life, I was, like, 'This just doesn't make sense anymore.' Especially at my age — 44 years old — to have to deal with the situation I was [facing]. But it is what it is, man. That's life."

Asked if there was a chance, when the SOULFLY tour was first announced this past June, that he would still take part in the trek, Marc said: "Dude, after the year I had, there was no way I would have been able to get back on that bus with everybody. There was no way. I was not in the state of mind to get back on a bus with a bunch of people that I haven't even talked to in a year, let alone other things. I knew I couldn't get on that bus. Honestly, I basically had a meltdown about everything about a month ago. It happens. I've been through a lot of shit, man — a lot of shit. And there was no way I was gonna be able to do that tour mentally. I just wasn't there anymore. I didn't have it in me… There was no way I could mentally be healthy on the bus with everybody. There's no way. And trust me, out of respect to them, they probably would not wanna be on a bus with me either. I can have meltdowns from time to time. So it works for everybody both ways. I'm definitely in a better headspace now. It's just better for everybody."

GENE SIMMONS Doesn't Know What Happened To DAVID LEE ROTH

GENE SIMMONS Doesn't Know What Happened To DAVID LEE ROTH

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Gene Simmons confirmed that David Lee Roth is no longer the support act for KISS's rescheduled U.S. leg of the farewell tour.

The legendary VAN HALEN frontman performed as the opening act for the February/March 2020 North American leg of "End Of The Road" but is not making any appearances on the KISS shows which kick off on August 18 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Asked about Roth's absence from the trek, Simmons told Rolling Stone: "It bears noting that during Dave's heyday, nobody did what he did. He was the ultimate frontman. Not [Robert] Plant, not Rod Stewart, nobody. He took being a frontman way beyond anything. And then, I don't know what happened to him… something. And you get modern-day Dave. I prefer to remember Elvis Presley in his prime. Sneering lips, back in Memphis, you know, doing all that. I don't want to think of bloated naked Elvis on the bathroom floor."

In a January 2020 interview with Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show", Paul Stanley was asked what the best part was of having Roth opening for KISS. Stanley said: "Well, Dave's got so many great songs. All the VAN HALEN catalog is terrific, and that's what he's doing. So, people get to hear all those great songs, and it was something that really appealed to us."

Simmons has repeatedly taken credit for "discovering" VAN HALEN and flying the band to New York to record a 15-song demo at Electric Lady Studios, with Gene at the production helm. But he ended up not working with the group after his KISS bandmates and manager, Bill Aucoin, expressed little interest in his demos. "I gave the demo back to the band, told them I had a tour to go on and afterward I would try to get them a record deal, but until then, I tore up our contract and set them free," he said. "It didn't take them long to get on Warner Bros."

In March 2020, Roth postponed the final six shows of his Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

KISS's rescheduled "End Of The Road" dates run through October.

Earlier today, KISS announced that it will return for its second Las Vegas residency at the end of the year. The band will perform at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood starting in December, Caesars Entertainment and Live Nation revea

CANDLEBOX Releases New Single 'All Down Hill From Here'

CANDLEBOX Releases New Single 'All Down Hill From Here'

Long-running Seattle rockers CANDLEBOX have released "All Down Hill From Here", a new single from their upcoming album "Wolves". Vocalist Kevin Martin co-wrote the song with Christopher Thorne of BLIND MELON. The inspiration behind the song came from the two longtime friends musing on the fleeting nature of fame.

Martin says: "It can be challenging to be an artist who has enjoyed great success, and then down the line, still has great fans, but never really achieves that great success again. A lot of our friends in bands are in that position now. It's a story I think a lot of people can relate to, not only musicians. Like the boxer who's on his last legs, he still has an opportunity. You really can't count anyone out."

CANDLEBOX's seventh studio album, "Wolves" drops worldwide on September 17, 2021 on Pavement Entertainment. The album will be available on all formats (CD, vinyl, and through digital outlets). "Wolves" embraces a fresh modernity in terms of sound and explores new territory.

Martin says: "We didn't stray away from anything; if the song sounded Americana, we went there; if a song sounded progressive, we went progressive — we didn't try to stay in our lane, if you will."

Two songs from "Wolves", "Let Me Down Easy" and "My Weakness", are available to stream now. "Let Me Down Easy" is an aggro, blues-based rocker with a booming bass and edgy guitar riffing, co-written with old Seattle pal Peter Cornell, Chris Cornell's older brother. "My Weakness" is a love song that melds the honesty of Bryan Adams's "Summer Of 69" and passion of Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run".

CANDLEBOX is currently on tour in the U.S.

POP EVIL Singer LEIGH KAKATY Tests Positive For COVID-19; Eight Shows Postponed

POP EVIL Singer LEIGH KAKATY Tests Positive For COVID-19; Eight Shows Postponed

POP EVIL singer Leigh Kakaty has tested positive for COVID-19 after being vaccinated. The Michigan-based rockers revealed his positive diagnosis in a social media post earlier today. They wrote: "To our Evilz, we always want to be fully transparent with our fans and the status of our shows. All of our band members and crew have been vaccinated prior to us starting tour. Yesterday, and again this morning, Leigh Kakaty tested positive for COVID-19. Leigh wanted to make sure his test wasn't a false positive before postponing any more shows. With his second positive test this afternoon, out of an abundance of caution, we will be postponing our shows and be back for our show in Virginia Beach on August 27.

"We are doing our best to move the following shows: Denver, CO (8/15), Des Moines, IA (8/17), Fargo, ND (8/18), Joliet, IL (8/20), Nashville, TN (8/21), Savannah, GA (8/23), Asheville, NC (8/24) and Jacksonville, NC (8/25) to the end of the tour. Leigh is already feeling much better and will be back on his feet in no time. We want to thank everyone for their continued support! See you soon."

Yesterday, POP EVIL announced that it was canceling its show Sunday night (August 15) at The Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado after a member of the band's "team" tested positive for COVID-19.

In the past couple of weeks, a number of high-profile hard rock and heavy metal artists — including KORN, IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson, TESLA, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, SHINEDOWN and LIMP BIZKIT — have called off shows or played concerts without members who have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The cancelations and the increased number of COVID-19 infections are driven in large part by the fact that the delta variant of the coronavirus, now the most common strain circulating in the United States, has a supercharged transmissibility, driven in part by how the mutated virus behaves in the body after infection.

New variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 illness are spreading in the United States and other countries. Current data suggest that COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States offer protection against most variants. However, some variants might cause illness in some people after they are fully vaccinated.

According to Healthline, data so far suggests efficacy rates against the delta variant of more than 67 percent for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 72 to 95 percent for the Moderna vaccine, and 64 to 96 percent for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Even though vaccines offer different ranges of protection, experts say getting fully vaccinated is crucial.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said earlier in the month that while vaccinated people can carry and spread the virus in what is known as "breakthrough infections," people largely driving the current surge were unvaccinated.

As the virus spreads, it can mutate and create more dangerous variants. Consequently, "there could be a variant that's lingering out there that can push aside delta," Fauci said.

SEBASTIAN BACH: 'Every American Should Be Mandated To Be Vaccinated'

SEBASTIAN BACH: 'Every American Should Be Mandated To Be Vaccinated'

In a new interview with KNX 1070 Newsradio 's "KNX In Depth", former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach — who went public with his COVID-19 battle earlier in the month — was asked if he supports all the artists and promoters who have announced that they will require proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a recent negative test as a prerequisite to attend their shows. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, absolutely. I'll take it a step further. I think every American should be mandated to be vaccinated. There's no reason why not to — unless you have a pre-existing health situation where you can't get it. But other than that, the only way we're ever gonna maybe get back to normal is by doing that. Even if everybody did do that, who knows what it would be like? But there's no way we can get back to quote-unquote normal if people aren't all gonna get in this together. There's no politics in health or medicine. Everybody is in it together. Everybody gets sick."

The 53-year-old singer, who is scheduled to embark on a tour in October celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's "Slave To The Grind" album, was also asked if whether he is contemplating canceling the dates amid a nationwide spike in coronavirus infections and hospitalizations attributed to the delta variant.

"I am not a doctor, and I don't pretend to be a doctor, and I can't stand people that do," he said. "I listen to the science, but everything is confusing. Everybody says that the vaccine has an effectivity rate of, like, after six months, it starts to wane. Everybody is on the six-month mark now, if you got it when I did. So, for me, we need a booster shot if we're all gonna be hanging out together or something.

Bach went on to say that he considers his vaccine to have been effective at preventing him from becoming severely ill from the virus. "Well, yeah," he said. "I looked up specifically, what does the vaccine do, and it says that it concentrates whatever outbreak you're having to the upper respiratory tract. It keeps it out of your lungs — deep down in your lungs. That's how I make my living — singing my lungs out and running around the stage and being aerobically fit. And everything I read about COVID is that it attacks the lungs and makes it hard to breathe. And I go, 'Are you kidding me?' You try to sing along to SKID ROW in the car. And then, 'Oh, let's make it harder to breathe.' No, there's no way. Thank God for the vaccine. Thank you. I will be screaming my lungs out, because they're very healthy."

Bach, like TWISTED SISTER's Dee Snider, TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy and many others, is showing that while vaccines are exceptionally effective in preventing death and severe illness from the coronavirus and its known variants, some are far from foolproof in preventing infection altogether.

Most of the people with so-called "breakthrough" infections are asymptomatic.

According to Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC), large-scale clinical studies found that COVID-19 vaccination prevented most people from getting COVID-19. Research also provides growing evidence that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna) offer similar protection in real-world conditions. While these vaccines are effective, no vaccine prevents illness 100% of the time. For any vaccine, there are breakthrough cases.

New variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 illness are spreading in the United States and other countries. Current data suggest that COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States offer protection against most variants. However, some variants might cause illness in some people after they are fully vaccinated.

Former GUNS N' ROSES Drummer MATT SORUM On His Autobiography: 'It's The Ups And Downs Of The Rock 'N' Roll Business'

Former GUNS N' ROSES Drummer MATT SORUM On His Autobiography: 'It's The Ups And Downs Of The Rock 'N' Roll Business'

Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum's long-awaited autobiography, "Double Talkin' Jive: True Rock 'N' Roll Stories From The Drummer Of Guns N' Roses, The Cult, And Velvet Revolver", will arrive on September 7 via Rare Bird Books after being delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Matt Sorum told The Entertainer! Magazine about the book: "The one thing about me is I've always been pretty open about my feelings — sometimes to my detriment. I'm an off-the-cuff kind of guy. Some people hold things in and don't really express themselves.

"My feeling is I'm a bit of a storyteller. I've had such a colorful life — especially in rock 'n' roll. I'm not going to be this narcissistic guy telling my rock 'n' roll adventure."

Sorum's co-authors Leif Erickson and Martin Svensson previously co-wrote Samantha Fox's "Forever".

"We ran down the list of everything from my childhood to now, moving to Palm Springs in the desert," Sorum recalled. "It's the ups and downs of the rock 'n' roll business, and the trials and tribulations of everything everybody else deals with. It's just kind of a life story — don't give up. Keep moving and rocking."

The 60-year-old Sorum, who replaced Steven Adler in GUNS N' ROSES, recorded the highly successful albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" (both 1991) and "The Spaghetti Incident" (1994). He also supported the group on the "Use Your Illusion" tour and can be heard on GUNS N' ROSES' "Live Era: '87-'93" (1999) and "Greatest Hits" (2004).

During an appearance on the "Stop! Drop & Talk" podcast, Sorum stated about "Double Talkin' Jive": "I named it after a GUNS N' ROSES song, 'Double Talkin' Jive'. [Then-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] Izzy Stradlin wrote that song. We played it together — on the ['Use Your Illusion I'] album, me and Izzy tracked that in one take. And the premise of the lyric was based around the kind of pitfalls of the music business and success. There's this undercurrent that's not pretty. And I talk very truthfully about things that I went through, from my perspective.

"I didn't wanna come off jaded," Matt continued. "I have to tell the story the way it went for me, and I hope that people don't take it as I sound jaded or something. I just wanted to be as truthful and honest as possible, from my perspective, if that makes sense.

"I think there's a misconception that maybe, as musicians, we're a bit elitist or privileged, or things are handed to us, and we just automatically appear, and now, all of a sudden, we're famous. So I just look at it, I'm, like, well, yeah, I have a great job. I've got a great life. I'm super grateful for all the things I've been able to do. But in the book, you can see that it was a lot of hard work. It was a lot of bruises along the way. And then, as the career goes and you get successful, stuff happens. There's, of course, the famous drug-and-alcohol shit that is kind of like 'Behind The Music' VH1 — I mean, that all happened to me. You know, the pitfalls of rock and roll stardom and all that shit.

"For me, when I was doing it," referring to the rock-star lifestyle, "and when I was at the height [of GUNS N' ROSES' success], I'm, like, 'If I don't do this now, I'll regret it later.' So I just tried to live my life as I thought I would wanna live it as a kid dreaming to be in a rock and roll band."

Sorum has said in the past that a GUNS reunion tour should have included both him and Adler, with each playing the songs they recorded with the group. Sorum was inducted as a member of the band into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2012.

EXODUS Recruits Drummer JOHN TEMPESTA For Upcoming Shows

EXODUS Recruits Drummer JOHN TEMPESTA For Upcoming Shows

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS have tapped John Tempesta to play drums for the band at two upcoming festivals — at Psycho Las Vegas on August 22 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada and at Full Terror Assault on September 8-11, 2021 at Hogrock Campground in Cave In Rock, Illinois — while Tom Hunting is recovering from surgery.

Tempesta was a member of EXODUS from 1989 until 1993 and played on the band's albums "Impact Is Imminent" (1990) and "Force Of Habit" (1992).

EXODUS said in a statement: "Due to Tom's continued recovery from his surgery, we are announcing that for our show in Vegas and Full Terror Assault , we will be joined by @johntempesta on drums! John was Tom's ( and our) number one choice to jump behind the kit in his absence, and John will kill it while Tom continues his recovery, which is going very well! Looking forward to seeing everyone who is coming to Vegas for the show. And looking forward to getting Tom healthy and back behind his kit as soon as possible! But let's welcome John back for two shows where he started!"

Added Hunting: "Hey Y'all. I'm 5 weeks out from the surgery and on the mend. I'm feeling stronger all the time and I'm beyond excited to get back to working out on the drums. Unfortunately I won't be ready for the upcoming Vegas and Full Terror Assault shows. Originally I thought if I could walk, I could play. I need to manage my own expectations, and then work my very core back into shape to be fully ready for action. I have no doubt I'll bounce back and get there. I wanna express my undying love and gratitude to our brother Johnny Tempesta for agreeing to play in my absence. I'm 100% sure he will crush playing this music! I'll check in again very soon. Thanks Soooo Much And CHEERS EVERYONE!!!!"

Said Tempesta: "I'm very excited and honored to fill in for my brother Tom as heals from surgery. Looking forward to these shows and being back with the EXODUS family!"

Last month, Hunting underwent a successful total gastrectomy in his battle with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach.

According to Cancer.org, a total gastrectomy is done if the cancer has spread widely in the stomach. It is also often advised if the cancer is in the upper part of the stomach, near the esophagus.

On July 5, Hunting said that he had four rounds of chemotherapy and that "the mass [had] shrunk to less than half the size it was in March… After recovery [from gastrectomy], I get four more treatments, then I can resume my life cancer-free."

According to Cancer.org, a total gastrectomy involves the surgeon removing the entire stomach, nearby lymph nodes, and the omentum, and possibly removing the spleen and parts of the esophagus, intestines, pancreas, or other nearby organs if the cancer has reached them. The end of the esophagus is then attached to part of the small intestine. This allows food to move down the intestinal tract. But people who have had their stomach removed can only eat a small amount of food at a time. Because of this, they will need to eat more often.

A GoFundMe campaign to help Hunting with medical expenses had previously raised more than $108,000 — including $5,000 from Tom's former EXODUS bandmate, current METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett, and $1,500 from FOZZY singer and wrestling superstar Chris Jericho.

After Hunting went public with his diagnosis, guitarist Gary Holt said that EXODUS will "delay" the release of its recently completed new album, "Persona Non Grata", "so that when Tom has defeated this, he will be back to full strength to hit the road and pummel his drums like only he can! When he has kicked cancer's ass like we know he will, we will resume kicking YOUR asses with the sickest record yet!" he said.

The squamous cell carcinoma of the stomach is a very uncommon entity, with worldwide incidence of 0.04% to 0.07% of all gastric cancers.

"Persona Non Grata" will be the follow-up to 2014's "Blood In Blood Out", which was the San Francisco Bay Area thrashers' first release since the departure of the group's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.

"Persona Non Grata" was recorded at a studio in Lake Almanor, California and was engineered by Steve Lagudi and EXODUS. It was produced by EXODUS and was mixed by Andy Sneap.

IRON MAIDEN Releases 'Sound Effects Version' Of 'The Writing On The Wall' Video

IRON MAIDEN Releases 'Sound Effects Version' Of 'The Writing On The Wall' Video

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have released the "special effects" version of their music video for their latest single, "The Writing On The Wall". The song, which was written by MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith and lead singer Bruce Dickinson, produced by Kevin Shirley and co-produced by MAIDEN bassist and founder-member Steve Harris, is taken from IRON MAIDEN's first album in six years, "Senjutsu", which will be released on September 3 via BMG.

Dickinson initially had a concept for the video which came to fruition in collaboration with two award-winning former Pixar executives and long-standing MAIDEN fans Mark Andrews and Andrew Gordon. The pair have over 50 years of animation industry experience between them at the very top-level including work on "The Incredibles", "Ratatouille", "Brave", "Monsters Inc." and "Finding Nemo". With partners lining up to get involved with the project they chose BlinkInk, a London based animation studio celebrated for their work with a variety of global brands from Adidas to Coca-Cola and a number of high-profile music videos.

In BlinkInk director Nicos Livesey, another longtime MAIDEN fan and kindred spirit, they found a man who shared the collective vision for the track — resulting in the final film which features the very first glimpse of a stunning new incarnation of Eddie in spectacular 3D form.

Bruce comments: "I had a pretty clear idea of the concept to accompany the song and when I met Mark and Andrew, on Zoom, it quickly became clear we were all very much on the same wavelength, and this was reinforced with the addition of Nicos and his young BlinkInk team. Our weekly team Zoom meetings were then usually both highly creative and a lot of fun!

"I'm very proud of the way the video turned out. It's more like a mini-film, really. I knew it was going to work out as soon as Mark brought my treatment to life with his incredible storyboards. I thought we could make something very special together. I think we did and hope our fans will agree. In fact, it's pretty much created by MAIDEN fans!!"

Director Nicos Livesey takes up the story: "We quickly found the expertise we wanted, and people were literally throwing themselves at me to work on a MAIDEN video — we had more than 60 people in 13 countries from Brazil to France and Romania to the U.S.A. to add something to the clip and I'd say their love, passion and understanding of the band shines through every frame. They were a dream team for the producers and myself to manage."

The intricate and painstaking process of the making of the video can be read about in more detail here.

For "Senjutsu" — loosely translated as "tactics and strategy" — the band once again enlisted the services of Mark Wilkinson to create the spectacular Samurai themed cover artwork, based on an idea by bassist Steve Harris. With a running time of a little under 82 minutes, "Senjutsu", like their previous record "The Book Of Souls", will be a double CD/Triple vinyl album.

Steve said: "We chose to record at Guillaume Tell Studio in France again as the place has such a relaxed vibe. The setup there is perfect for our needs; the building used to be a cinema and has a really high ceiling so there's a great acoustic sound. We recorded this album in the same way we did 'The Book Of Souls' in that we'd write a song, rehearse it and then put it down together straight away while it was all fresh in our minds. There's some very complex songs on this album which took a lot of hard work to get them exactly as we wanted them to sound, so the process was at times very challenging, but Kevin is great at capturing the essence of the band and I think it was worth the effort! I'm very proud of the result and can't wait for fans to hear it."

Dickinson added: "We're all really excited about this album. We recorded it back in early 2019 during a break in the 'Legacy' tour so we could maximize our touring yet still have a long set up period before release to prepare great album art and something special as a video. Of course, the pandemic delayed things more — so much for the best-laid plans — or should that be 'strategies'!? The songs are very varied, and some of them are quite long. There's also one or two songs which sound pretty different to our usual style, and I think MAIDEN fans will be surprised — in a good way, I hope!"
