SUBWAY TO SALLY Announces Live Multi-Format Release, Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark, Available In June; “Veitstanz" (2014 Version) Live Video Streaming

SUBWAY TO SALLY Announces Live Multi-Format Release, Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark, Available In June; “Veitstanz" (2014 Version) Live Video Streaming

Subway To Sally demonstrate their exceptional live presence once more, carving a unique stage experience in stone with the upcoming release, Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark, out on BluRay/DVD/CD on June 18 via Napalm Records.

In an intimate setting, the Potsdam based unit drops a colorful bunch of songs taken off their multifaceted discography and invites its listeners to be part of an exciting adventure. Supported by many great artists, Subway To Sally created an unforgettable evening that offers numerous surprises and specials neither seen nor heard until now, with the unveiling of a new live video “Veitstanz" (2014 Version). Members of Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul and Feuerschwanz, as well as Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost), MajorVoice and Patty Gurdy join Subway To Sally on stage for an outstanding version of the song.

Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark will be available as a deluxe bundle (incl. deluxe fan gym bag, mediabook, pendant, lanyard, pass - limited to 300 copies), LP Gatefold Black, BD/DVD/2-CD mediabook and digital album formats, and serves as harbinger for all those great live performances that are about to come!

Subway To Sally on Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark: “After 11 years of our "Eisheilige Nacht-tradition", we definitely did not want that 2020 will be seen as a red "X" in the history of our festival series. So we thought about how we could provide our fans with the Eisheilige Nacht feeling at their homes, when we weren't allowed to tour ourselves. An online concert wasn't enough for us: Eisheilige Nacht is not only about meeting friends, but also being a highlight of the year - with several befriended bands performing live on stage. We wanted to implement all of this in one experience. We wanted to record this very special event where the Eisheilige Nacht originally began. Instead of playing a concert in an empty hall, we used the size of the hall, lined up in a circle and placed our guest musicians into our midst. This created new insights that have never been seen before in any Subway To Sally concert film! We are very pleased that we can now, as requested by countless fans, record this event for eternity as a special concert film! "

Watch the official live video for “Veitstanz" (2014 Version) below.

Due to the pandemic, 2020’s edition of the band's annual festival tour, Eisheilige Nacht, couldn’t take place in its usual form. As a result, the German folk rock outfit decided to offer an unforgettable lockdown live event which they hope will be a unique way to fill the gap until they return to the stage.

Subway To Sally on "Veitstanz" (2014 Version): "The highlight of every Eisheilige Nacht is the joint finale at the end of the concert. The Veitstanz, shared with all guest bands, is a firm tradition and of course could not be missing from the Eisheilige Nacht ONLINE. Somehow the title is now almost medieval -traditionals. Especially with this song you can see what a great scene we are in. We are proud that we were able to conclude 2020 with the Veitstanz together with our guests, but also above all with our fans."

Since their foundation in the early ‘90s, Subway To Sally have established themselves at the top of the scene. Having released thirteen studio records so far, the seven-piece featuring the remarkable Eric Fish on vocal duties never fails in surprising their devotees with an ingenious symbiosis of folk, heavy metal and rock. In the course of time, it became a tradition to celebrate every year with numerous fans and a final live show on December 30 at the venue Lindenpark in the band's hometown of Potsdam. Due to great demand, in 2009 the band decided to move to a bigger location in the same area. The Eisheilige Nacht was born and turned into a whole annual festival tour shortly after, where top-notch bands heeded the call to join Subway To Sally for some magical evenings.

In 2020, Subway To Sally returned to Lindenpark and - supported by many great artists like Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost), Feuerschwanz, Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis, MajorVoice and Patty Gurdy - created an extraordinary lockdown live experience. In an intimate setting, the recording starts with “Messias” and “Königin der Käfer” from the band’s latest chart-breaking full-length, Hey! (DE #5). Subway To Sally then continue to not only travel through their own discography with songs like eerie “Unsterblich”, animated “Tanz auf dem Vulkan” and live-sensation “Grausame Schwester”, but also present a bunch of enchanting features as well: Don’t miss when highly talented Birgit Muggenthaler-Schmack and Saskia Maria Forkert (Schandmaul) join Subway To Sally for Schandmaul’s “Dein Anblick” and a premier version of “Kleid aus Rosen”, or when the band sets the exceptional stage on fire for an explosive performance with Saltatio Mortis on their hit “Sie Tanzt allein” - just to name a selection.

This unique experience will be available in the following formats:

- Deluxe-Bundle (incl. Deluxe Fan Gym Bag, Mediabook, Pendant, Lanyard, Pass) – strictly limited to 300 copies
- BD/DVD/2-CD Mediabook (vertical format)

Themes explored on the album include: mortality ("Radio On", "Twenty One"), materialism ("Devil's Gold"), empowerment ("Vampin'"), addiction ("Wasted"), love ("Cmon", "Had Me At Hello"), and society ("Soul Breaker", "Russian Doll").

Aaron delivers these messages with memorable, soaring melodies and her extraordinary, versatile voice that has remained powerful and consistent throughout her career.

She was one of the first women in Canada to navigate the male-dominated waters of rock 'n' roll, pioneering the way for a significant number of artists. Her 1989 album, "BodyRock", was proclaimed by Chart magazine as "one of the 20 most influential Canadian albums of the '80s, with artists like Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette and Shania Twain under Aaron's influence."

Born in Belleville Ontario, Lee's family relocated to Winnipeg when she was two. Living two doors down from the MacLean family (MacLean & MacLean), Burton Cummings was a frequent visitor and Aaron's earliest musical memories were of the rehearsals and parties that occurred in that Dowling Avenue home throughout much of her early childhood.

Smitten by the music bug, after moving back to Ontario she studied voice and piano as a teenager as well as appearing in numerous musical theatre productions. At 15 she was invited to join a band in the Toronto suburbs. Initially playing saxophone and keys, by 17 she had evolved into the band's lead singer and was discovered by local talent agent the summer she graduated school. Working with Canadian greats from MOXY, SANTERS and Rick Emmett, by 19 she had written and recorded her debut album, 1982's "The Lee Aaron Project".

Between 19 and 21, Aaron weathered a period that she today describes as "painful and embarrassing" in which she was subjected to overtly sexist marketing, exploitive photographs, emotionally uncomfortable stage wear and "being thrown into situations I had neither the self confidence, maturity or life experience to navigate." As a result of this, the song "Metal Queen" was born. A response — not just to her own experience but the entire sexist culture of '80s rock — the song was intended as a feminist statement of power and strength. Women were much more than the ornamental, eye candy depictions of the era, but strong and intelligent, in control and a force to be reckoned with. The song and subsequent video catapulted Aaron to iconic status with legions of fans around the globe and over the years has become an enduring anthem of empowerment for men and women alike.

The late '80s and early '90s brought radio hits, gold and multi-platinum sales with "BodyRock" and "Some Girls Do" (1991), multiple JUNO nominations and song writing awards. She appeared on the cover of dozens of magazines — even TV Guide! — and for several years seemed to be everywhere, her videos in near constant rotation on MuchMusic. Aaron turned the tables on the sexist status quo in her video for "Whatcha Do To My Body", which featured a group of rugged, attractive men objectified in a tongue and cheek, yet respectful manner. This resonated deeply with the public and became a smash hit.

Recurrent themes in her writing — from teenager to maturity — have always been female empowerment and individualism, challenging the feminine stereotype and of course, love, in all its beauty and iniquity.

She re-emerged in 1998 performing blues and jazz in intimate venues around Vancouver, surprising fans and industry insiders alike with a musical left turn and released "Slick Chick" (2000) a spirited and soulful nod to her early influences. Despite initial skepticism, her authenticity and solid live performances from coast to coast led to credibility as one of the country's most respected and versatile female vocalists and songwriters.

She followed up with the jazz-infused "Beautiful Things" (2004) but perhaps her most challenging career move to date was to become a wife and mother. Less than a month after completing the "Beautiful Things" tour, Lee and her husband welcomed a daughter in 2004 and a son in 2006. She took a recording hiatus to focus on her young family, but continued to perform selected live dates. She also released "Museum", a collection of jazz performances on DVD in 2006; "Rarities, Studio & Live", a 3-DVD career anthology in 2008; "Live In Sweden", a DVD of her 2011 concert at Sweden Rock Festival; and a 30-year commemorative CD, "Radio Hitz And More", in 2012.

During this time, Aaron returned college to expand on her post secondary education, acquiring a certification in specialized education. Working with exceptional youth in her community, she soon found herself helping design and implement programs for gifted children. "I've worked with differently-abled thinkers all my life… they're called musicians!" she says. "Working with kids who learn in unconventional ways is intuitive work; just like music. When you find a teaching strategy that works — just like a song idea — the light bulb goes on and it's magical."

In 2016, Aaron catapulted back onto the scene with "Fire And Gasoline", a stellar collection of rock originals. Canadian and European dates followed and video singles "Tom Boy", "Fire And Gasoline" and "Bad Boyfriend" continue to grow in popularity.

Lee's latest studio album, "Diamond Baby Blues", arrived in April 2018. Her first official live LP, Power, "Soul, And Rock N' Roll – Live in Germany", followed in September 2019.

Watch OZZY OSBOURNE Get Inducted Into 'WWE Hall Of Fame'

Watch OZZY OSBOURNE Get Inducted Into 'WWE Hall Of Fame'

Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame Tuesday night (April 6).

Osbourne was an unannounced addition of the combined 2020/2021 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony, which was taped last week.

Although the legendary heavy metal singer was not present to accept the honor, he did tape a video message that was aired as part of the show.

"Thank you so much WWE Universe for this award," Ozzy said in the video. "I don't deserve it, but thank you anyway."

He went on to say: "It's all about the fans, really. Our fans are what keep us alive really. It's all about them.

"I wanna thank Vince McMahon and Triple H. Thank you very much, God bless you."

Osbourne has made several appearances on WWE TV over the years, including at WrestleMania 2 where he joined Captain Lou Albano to manage The British Bulldogs in their WWF tag team championship win over Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine. Osbourne also performed live at a SmackDown taping in Baltimore in May 2007, and later served as a special guest host for Raw in November 2009.

The WWE Hall Of Fame 2020 and 2021 induction ceremonies were taped in Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, and the edited version aired last night on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network around the world.

Ozzy, who turned 72 in December, recently got the COVID-19 vaccine.

In November, Ozzy told GQ magazine that he suffers from a respiratory disease which puts him at an increased risk of severe pneumonia and poor outcomes if he was to develop COVID-19.

Last July, Ozzy said that he was still "not back to 100 percent" after suffering from several medical issues in 2019, including a fall, neck surgery and hospitalization for the flu. Ozzy also said that he was looking forward to performing again once he has regained his health and the coronavirus pandemic has subsided.

When the pandemic struck, Ozzy had just released his first solo album in a decade, "Ordinary Man", which he recorded in late 2019 while recovering from surgery and related illnesses. The BLACK SABBATH singer had previously canceled all his 2019 tour plans, and the rescheduled 2020 shows were also scrapped.

CVLT OV THE SVN Debut "Hellbound" Lyric Video

CVLT OV THE SVN Debut "Hellbound" Lyric Video

As it often seems modern rock music has lost its sense of palpable danger and mystique, Finnish dark occult rock act Cvlt Ov The Svn marks its return in full force with their grim, addictive first full length, We Are The Dragon.

Slated for release on May 7 via Napalm Records, Cvlt Ov The Svn’s debut embodies a reverberating sense of eeriness, danger and fear, enriched with a pinch of gothic romanticism and pitch-black seduction. Finally, there’s a cvlt worth joining: Cvlt Ov The Svn’s sound feels dangerously unsettling, lacing its churning heaviness with catchy melodies that travel right through your ears to your central nervous system!

With the unveiling of previously-released goth-boppers like “Twilight”, “The Pit”, “Whore Of Babylon”, “Luna In The Sky Forever” and just recently, “My Venom”, Cvlt Ov The Svn have already proven how to successfully merge seething heaviness and sweet pop melodies. Now, the mysterious visionary behind the cvlt, who actually started out as a black metal drummer, has unleashed a brand new lyric video for the heavy dark rock anthem “Hellbound”, setting free his casket full of morbid horror theatrics!

This occult new wave and rock n’ roll symbiosis draws you right in with an unforgettable hook that’ll seep its way right into your brain in no time – like an invitation through the gates of hell to party with the devil himself!

Watch the new lyric video for "Hellbound":

The anonymous visionary behind Cvlt Ov The Svn says: “Every one of us faces periods in life when all seems to be lost. My response to those kind of situations is to put the pedal to the floor and dive deep into the dark corners of my psyche.”

Inspired by movies like The Exorcist and the all devouring darkness itself, Cvlt Ov The Svn draws inspiration not only from the heavy rock genre and greats like Type O Negative and Turbonegro, but the nostalgic influences of mainstream artists like Roxette as well. Conceptually conveying a variety of extreme emotions, each of the album’s twelve enthralling tracks cut through the noise of society like a razorblade, leaving a long-lasting impression on the listener that’ll have them clamoring for more.

In addition to the macabre thrills of their music, there’s the character he takes on stage, twisting the dagger of perception even further like your favorite horror flick and making for a combined experience that cuts deep and close to the bone.

Cvlt Ov The Svn's innovative persona continues: “It’s easier to tell those grim stories through another identity, another character. Black cloaks just go with it, obviously. I’m a big fan of suspense and this kind of content is all about the surprises. I find it is an intriguing realm to explore. Whatever lies ahead, Cvlt Ov The Svn will adapt and thrive.”

Ex-KORN Drummer DAVID SILVERIA's BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE: Why We 'Un-Acronymed' BIAS Name

Ex-KORN Drummer DAVID SILVERIA's BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE: Why We 'Un-Acronymed' BIAS Name

During an appearance on a recent episode of the "Battleline Podcast", BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE frontman Rich Nguyen explained why the band ended up "un-acronyming" its original name, BIAS. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "During the political times, if you tried to find us, it was impossible to find us through all the 'bias' articles — like 'biased media,' 'biased' this. And it was, like, 'Woah. We need to get a little bit more unique, because we're getting buried in political news stories. So then BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE became our new thing, because, hey, you can find us so much easier everywhere this way."

BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE features in its ranks former KORN drummer David Silveria.

The band's debut EP "Acronym", hit digital service providers January 23. The six-track effort includes BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE's cover version of FAITH NO MORE's "Midlife Crisis", as well as debut single "Pity", which reached No. 23 on the Billboard Indicator chart and No. 9 on the Foundations chart upon its initial release.

In addition to Silveria and Nguyen, BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE features guitarists Joe Taback and Mike Martin, and bassist Chris Dorame.

Silveria, Dorame and Taback previously played together in CORE 10, which "imploded" in 2018 after releasing a couple of singles and playing a number of local shows.

Taback said about BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE: "We received hundreds of submissions from all over the world and heard a lot of amazingly talented people. Rich came in and we just instantly vibed. The songs flowed without a hitch. We were able to get a lot done with him in a very short span of time."

Added Dorame: "I felt that he immediately connected with what we are trying to portray musically; he fit right in. His style is unique, yet familiar enough to be the perfect voice for our music."

Silveria concurred. "Rich's work ethic drives us all to work harder in the studio; it's amazing," he said.

Regarding BREAKING IN A SEQUENCE's lyrical approach, Nguyen told OC Weekly: "The lyrics that I write are both personal and abstract. Every song I write has two meanings; mine and your interpretation. I try to write my lyrics vague enough for people to relate to and form their own opinions. However, if you know me personally, you may be able to figure what I'm talking about, maybe."

"This band doesn't feel like work; it feels like getting together with buddies and just having fun," Silveria added. "This is how it should be."

KONKHRA's Classic Debut Sexual Affective Disorder To See Reissue Treatment; Includes Bonus CD Of Demos + 1992's Stranded EP

KONKHRA's Classic Debut Sexual Affective Disorder To See Reissue Treatment; Includes Bonus CD Of Demos + 1992's Stranded EP

Hammerheart Records will reissue Danish death metal band Konkhra's debut studio album, Sexual Affective Disorder, on June 25. The reissue contains a bonus CD with all demos.

Konkhra reissues their much sought after debut on LP and deluxe 2CD (with all pre-album demos). Sexual Affective Disorder was originally released on Progress Red Labels in July 1993. The album was recorded at the now legendary Sunlight Studio in Sweden and produced by Tomas Skogsberg and Konkhra.

Konkhra had been roaming the Danish underground scene since the early nineties and steadily increased their fanbase with The Vicious Circle demo from 1990 and the Malgrowth demo from 1991, both featured on the 2CD edition as bonus. Also included is their first official release: the Stranded EP from 1992.

The music on Sexual Affective Disorder might be described as old school death metal mixed with technical thrash metal elements. The vocals on the album are influenced by the high pitched sneer/deep guttural growl Carcass vocal style, so a clear death metal approach. The technical playing is used to keep the songs exciting all the way through the album. Songs like “Center Of The Flesh”, “Blindfolded”, “Chaos To Climb” and “Empty Frames” simply blow one away every time. The addition of samples in some songs also give the album a great atmosphere.

The production is raw and not too polished but clean enough to be able to hear what's going on, that great Sunlight Studio sound. Listening to Sexual Affective Disorder is always a pleasure.

Sales points:

• LP comes with download card
• CD comes as a deluxe edition with slipcase including all demo recordings
• The cover artwork was painted by Danish artist Michael Kvium
• Remastered by Tue Madsen (Moonspell, Meshuggah, Sick of it All, Baby Metal)

SOULFLY Is Putting Finishing Touches On Twelfth Studio Album: It's 'Pretty Killer', Says MAX CAVALERA

SOULFLY Is Putting Finishing Touches On Twelfth Studio Album: It's 'Pretty Killer', Says MAX CAVALERA

SOULFLY is putting the finishing touches on its twelfth album for a tentative late 2021 release via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2018's "Ritual" was recorded at Platinum Underground in Phoenix, Arizona with producer Arthur Rizk, who has previously worked with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, POWER TRIP and CODE ORANGE.

In a new interview with Chris Enriquez of Saint Vitus Presents: Age Of Quarantine, Max stated about the upcoming SOULFLY disc (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I've been working on the new SOULFLY since last year with my son Zyon [who plays drums in SOULFLY]. We brought Athur to Arizona. And that's pretty killer. That's some good shit. I'm excited for that."

According to Cavalera, Rizk took the project "super seriously. He said, 'Hey, Max, I don't wanna do just another SOULFLY record. I wanna do the best SOULFLY record,'" he recalled. 'I was, like, 'All right. I take the challenge. Let's do it, man.'"

As for the musical direction of the new SOULFLY material, Max said: "It's full-on. I think it's got kind of like the best of all the years. I think it's a compilation Max Cavalera record of the whole 50 years. [Laughs] That's what it feels like — it's got old stuff, it's got middle stuff, it's got very SOULFLY vibes. It's got a lot of groove. It's got a lot of fast stuff. We're in the process of finishing it up right now. Hopefully it's gonna come out this year."

In December, Max told the "Sappenin' Podcast With Sean Smith" about the songwriting process for the new SOULFLY album: "The cool thing about Zyon, the way he plays drums, is he's a bit like a wild animal — he has no restraint, man, and he just unleashes on the drum kit. Pure, pure brutality power drumming, and I love that. So that takes me back to a lot of the early records that I like — a lot of the old ENTOMBED stuff and CARCASS and NAPALM DEATH; out-of-control shit. So I think we have that kind of spirit going on on a lot of the new tracks."

According to Max, he has also taken inspiration from "Max Trax", the twice-weekly Internet video series he recently launched in which he discusses the inspiration for many of the songs spanning his nearly 40-year music career.

"I get inspired by the old songs," he said. "I think the old material becomes an inspiration. So I think we're gonna be able to create something unique from all that experience — from the old stuff to the new stuff. KILLER BE KILLED will probably be somehow an influence on the record, in some parts of the record," he added, referring to his side project which has just released its sophomore album, "Reluctant Hero", via Nuclear Blast. "So we're just gonna maybe bring all that into the new SOULFLY."

Last June, SOULFLY released a new digital EP, "Live Ritual NYC MMXIX". The effort was recorded at The Gramercy in New York City on February 11, 2019 while SOULFLY was on tour in support of its most recent full-length album, "Ritual". The audio for the EP was mixed and mastered by Charles Elliott (ABYSMAL DAWN) from Tastemaker Audio. Cover artwork was comprised of live photos taken by Rodrigo Fredes.

"Ritual" was released in October 2018 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2015's "Archangel" was produced, recorded and mixed by Josh Wilbur (KILLER BE KILLED, LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA).

KISS Guitarist TOMMY THAYER: How I Found Out I Have 31-Year-Old Daughter

KISS Guitarist TOMMY THAYER: How I Found Out I Have 31-Year-Old Daughter

KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer was a guest on a recent episode of the "Hangin' & Bangin': Artists On Lockdown" online show, where he was joined by Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO), Carmine Appice (OZZY OSBOURNE, VANILLA FUDGE) and Doug Aldrich (DIO, WHITESNAKE, THE DEAD DAISIES). You can now watch the discussion below.

Asked about his recent revelation that he had discovered that he had fathered a child, Tommy said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I found out I have a daughter last summer. I was married for many years and never had any kids, so I kind of thought that window of opportunity had passed me by. But through [DNA-testing company] 23andMe, actually, a second cousin of mine was in contact with Sierra. And she's 31 years old. So this all took place in '89, '89.

"It's the most incredible thing," the 60-year-old rocker continued. "It's just a blessing. And she's just a beautiful girl — very genuine and just so sweet. It's just an unbelievable happening in my life. It's the biggest thing that's happened to me in a long time, that's for sure."

Asked at what point Sierra found out that he was her dad, Tommy said: "Not until we figured this out. I think she was more blown away than I was. 'Your dad's Tommy blah blah blah.' So, it's really a great story."

When Tommy first announced he had a daughter last month, he wrote on social media about Sierra: "We've already spent a lot of time since getting to know each other and creating a close bond. She's a beautiful, sincere person and I couldn't be happier. I think she feels the same about me."

He added: "The most wonderful thing about miracles is that they sometimes happen."

Thayer, who married Amber Peek in 2006, was not previously known to have fathered any children. The couple has since split but reportedly remains on good terms.

KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to put it on hold last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"End Of The Road" was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022.

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, alongside later band additions, Thayer and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Last October, Tommy sold his home in Southern California for $2.7 million.

During the question-and-answer portion of "An Evening With Tommy Thayer" in February 2020 at the Outtakes Bar & Grill in New Hope, Minnesota, Thayer was asked what his plans are for after KISS completes its "End Of The Road" farewell tour. He responded: "I get asked that question a lot in interviews these days. I don't really know. I'm sure most people here know we're on the 'End Of The Road' world tour right now. I don't really know exactly what my plans are at the end of this. KISS is not gonna go away, though, either. The band is not gonna tour, but the KISS music, the identities and the characters and the brand and the merchandise, that will all continue on. I think that KISS will continue on in some way. I can't imagine it not."

DAVID ELLEFSON Says It's 'Really Nice' To Have Been Able To Spend 'Several Years' Making New MEGADETH Album

DAVID ELLEFSON Says It's 'Really Nice' To Have Been Able To Spend 'Several Years' Making New MEGADETH Album

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson spoke to Sonic Perspectives about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2016's "Dystopia" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We have a credo — we talk about what we've done; we don't talk about what we're gonna do. And it's kind of a good way to roll, because things can change.

"Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH leader], I guess, has revealed a potential album title, maybe a songtitle or two, but everything is a work in progress. So until it's done, done, done… We've literally changed album titles, like, right before we were ready to hit the print button and start printing the thing.

"But it's sounding great, and it's coming along well. And it's been fun to have the time," he continued.

"You've got your whole life to make your first album and about nine months to make your second one. And this has been really nice, after all these years, and album sixteen, to have several years to make this album, from where we started.

"We were coming off 'Dystopia'. I think we raised the bar for MEGADETH [with that album]. We kind of recalibrated the sound of the band, and the lineup, of course, is incredibly skilled, [with] really great players. So I think we kind of reframed the whole thing, and that was a really great place to start from, because the bar was very high. And it's, like, how do we raise it from there? So it's good to have the time that we've had to work on it."

This past February, Mustaine said during an episode of his Gimme Radio program "The Dave Mustaine Show" that he was "almost done" recording the vocals for the new MEGADETH LP. He also said that he had just received "a really cool lyric" from Ellefson that he was planning to turn into a song. In addition, he revealed that the album will include an as-yet-undisclosed cover track.

In January, Ellefson told the "Rock 'N' Roll Icons With Bode James" podcast the recently announced working title for MEGADETH's upcoming album, "The Sick, The Dying And The Dead", will likely end up getting changed before the LP is released.

The early sessions for the LP took place in 2019 with co-producer Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on "Dystopia".

"Dystopia", whose title track was honored in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 2017 Grammy Awards, marked Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro's recording debut with MEGADETH.

MEGADETH's current lineup is rounded out by 46-year-old Belgian-born-and-now-Los-Angeles-based drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who had played with SOILWORK for more than a decade before joining MEGADETH.

LORDI To Release Seven New Studio Albums In October

LORDI To Release Seven New Studio Albums In October

Finnish heavy metal monsters LORDI will release no less than seven new studio albums in October. The LPs will mark the first new music from LORDI since the arrival of 2020's "Killection", a fictional compilation album which contained songs that LORDI would have written had the band existed between the early 1970s and the mid-1990s.

The band's lader, Mr. Lordi, explains: "Within a week when the 'Killectour' was cut short in March 2020, I realized we're gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow. It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though 'Killection' was released not even two months before. I was thinking that the most boring thing we could do after 'Killection' is to do another basic LORDI album. And I was very much enjoying the different styles of songwriting, recording and production on 'Killection', but another boring idea would have been to do a part 2. Since 'Killection' is a fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn't exist, I got the idea that the only thing that could top that is to record and release that fictional back catalogue. And until Halloween 2021 the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist... at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But seven is a number they felt that is somewhat sane, hahahaha!"

So, for LORDI's 11th studio album release, we will not only get the 11th new album, but we'll get the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th album at the same time. What other rock band has done this before? The answer is no other.

LORDI states: “The albums will sound all different from each other, they're all in different styles and fictional eras in the 'Killection' timeline. Five of the seven albums are already done, by the way, and number six is well on the way."

LORDI won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 with the song "Hard Rock Hallelujah" and remains the first and only winner from Finland in the history of the competition. Since then, the band has gone through several lineup changes. The original members who are still active with the band are Mr. Lordi and guitarist Amen.

April's fools! Of course Lordi isn't releasing 4 albums simultaneously this year. That would be insane. But not insane enough for Lordi. The reality is that Lordi is releasing SEVEN (7!) new studio albums later this year.

No shit. Not kidding. pic.twitter.com/2bdvYYxNXs

— Lordi (@LORDIOFFICIAL) April 2, 2021

Yep you heard it right, it ain’t four but seven albums that #LORDI are releasing all at once this year! They’ve been busy in the studio working on this insane project since September, and still are to this moment. Our insane monsters just got crazier ? https://t.co/AGtQVPHDP1

GOJIRA's JOSEPH DUPLANTIER: JAMES HETFIELD Inspired Me To Play Guitar

GOJIRA's JOSEPH DUPLANTIER: JAMES HETFIELD Inspired Me To Play Guitar

In a new interview with Sweden's RockSverige, GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier was asked which other musician influenced him and made him want to become a guitar player when he was growing up. He responded: "James Hetfield. I know, it's surprising. [Laughs] No, it's not surprising, because I've been talking about him. Surprising because James is more a band leader and a singer and nobody thinks of James Hetfield as a guitar player. Some people do, but I really put it up there. I'm not talking about solos.

"I'm not a shredder," he continued. "I don't shred. I create platforms for songs with rhythm guitars and subtleties within them. If I'm going to talk about a guy who does solos, and it's not original, but Dimebag [Darrell Abbott, late PANTERA guitarist]. Dimebag is up there when it comes to shredding and when it comes to breaking the rules, and when it comes to fucking playing the guitar like a bird is flying, that would be Dimebag for me. His solos are absolutely breathtaking, but James Hefield has something… if there was a school, he would be my teacher. If there was a school for rock, he would be my teacher. I want to follow his course. His right hand is a hammer, an unstoppable hammer. He's the foundation of the rhythmic section in METALLICA. I think Lars [Ulrich, METALLICA drummer] is just dancing around James's guitar. Everybody follows James.

"One time we were on tour with [METALLICA], we became friends with their monitor engineer because he was doing our monitors too; we hired him," Duplantier added. "We gave him like $100 in cash every day, 'Can you do our monitors? We don't have our own monitor guy.' And he was, like, 'I got you.' Then when METALLICA played, one time he gave me James's spare in-ears. This little box, a receiver. He said, 'Joe, come here,' because he saw me watching James and analyzing his fucking right hand. It's out of this world. It's not necessarily impressive on a technical level. It's the precision and the consistency and it's sharp. He gives me a little radio there and I plug it in, I have my own in ears and I'm, like, 'Oh my god, oh my god! This is James's fucking monitors! What?' I plug them in and put it in my pocket and look at him, and I was amazed to see that there was almost no drums in there. Who does that? What? Maybe there was some hi-hat, but he was flying through the songs, playing and singing and it was only him in his monitors. A little bit of drums to stay connected to the rest, but some people need a lot of drums because they're so chaotic and are just sitting on the drums, like in my case for example. This guy can do a whole show, and I'm pretty sure everybody's following him, even Lars. I think Lars follows James when he plays."

GOJIRA will release its new album, "Fortitude", on April 30 via Roadrunner Records. Recorded and produced by Joseph Duplantier at Silver Cord Studio — GOJIRA's Ridgewood, Queens, New York headquarters — and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE), it is a collection of songs urging humanity to imagine a new world — and then make it happen. The band initially laid the foundation for "Fortitude" last year with the surprise release of the 2020 single "Another World". NPR hailed the track as "an apocalyptic banger," and Stereogum declared, "GOJIRA are one of this century's most important underground metal institutions," while "Fortitude" was Voted by fans as the #1 release on Revolver's "Most Anticipated Albums of 2021."

GOJIRA's widely anticipated tour dates supporting DEFTONES have been rescheduled for later this y

STONE GOSSARD: 'PEARL JAM Will Definitely Be Back'

STONE GOSSARD: 'PEARL JAM Will Definitely Be Back'

In a new interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, PEARL JAM guitarist Stone Gossard spoke about the band's plans for the coming months once the coronavirus pandemic has subsided. He said: "PEARL JAM will definitely be back. I think we'll probably be on the road. I mean, my hope is that we'll start playing some shows in the fall or early winter. I don't know what they're gonna be or when they're gonna be, but that's my hope. And after that, we've got a lot of makeup shows to do. We've got a lot of work to do."

Asked if PEARL JAM is going to jump into recording a new album or focus on touring in support of last year's "Gigaton", Stone said: "We're always kind of recording and doing stuff. So, it wouldn't surprise me if we did some more recording, but there's no plans as of now. I have no idea what we're gonna do, but I'll be ready to go when I get the call.

"Gigaton" came out in March 2020. Produced by Josh Evans and PEARL JAM, it bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. Additionally, it landed in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200. Internationally, the album debuted No. 1 in Italy and Austria, Top 5 in Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Canada, and Finland and Top 10 in the U.K., Ireland, and New Zealand.

Last November, Gossard told Kerrang! that he would like to "make another record that really shocks people."

"There's some new territory [on 'Gigaton'], and I think it bodes well for whatever comes next," he said. "I think we're still scratching the surface in terms of what really could be significantly different-sounding songs. I guess I would probably compare [what I'm thinking of] to an 'OK Computer'/'Kid A' moment, thinking about RADIOHEAD's transformation and the journey that they went on… It's not going to be 'OK Computer', obviously, but a moment where we stumble onto something that is significantly different. That prospect always intrigues me. I'd like to make another record that really shocks people — that makes them go, 'Wow, that's unexpected.'"

GEORGE LYNCH Blasts Anti-Maskers: 'If Suffering Is Putting A Mask On, You Don't Know What Suffering Means'

GEORGE LYNCH Blasts Anti-Maskers: 'If Suffering Is Putting A Mask On, You Don't Know What Suffering Means'

George Lynch has blasted people who are defiantly skeptical of mask wearing, calling their refusal to wear masks in public spaces "very juvenile and selfish and irresponsible and childish."

While more than 550,000 Americans have died so far as a result of COVID-19, a number of people have come out against COVID-19 response measures, including lockdowns, physical distancing and mandatory mask policies, saying that they violate constitutional rights. Former president Donald Trump's own skepticism of mask wearing contributed to a politicization of the issue, causing many of his followers to see mask mandates as an attack on individual freedom.

Lynch addressed the subject of mask wearing in a new interview with Dawn Osborne of U.K.'s TotalRock. After being told that it looked promising that the U.K. would possibly see the return of some live concerts this summer, the guitarist said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I really find it heartening when I hear about places like [the U.K.] and other countries — Vietnam and New Zealand — that do the right thing and do their duty and stick together with one concerted effort without all this in-fighting. And over here [in the U.S.], we don't have that, obviously — we're politically polarized, and the pandemic has become a political football and it's absolutely ridiculous and very juvenile and selfish and irresponsible and childish."

He continued: "I think we all need to do the right thing. And if suffering is putting a mask on, oh, boy, you don't know what suffering means."

According to the latest scientific brief from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), face coverings can reduce the risk of coronavirus infection by more than 70%. Some people have even started "double-masking" to increase their odds of staying COVID-free, although very little scientific data points to any benefits or drawbacks of wearing more than one face mask.

Back in September 2019, Lynch caught flak from some of his fans when he slammed then-president Donald Trump in an interview, calling the billionaire real estate mogul an "idiotic monster" and an "egotistical, self-aggrandizing, complete piece of shit" who "doesn't know anything." George was also criticized when told Australia's "Scars And Guitars" podcast that "progressives are more compassionate people by nature — we're wired to sort of be more empathetic and care about things outside of ourselves. We are about other people; it hurts us to see people in pain or suffer," he explained. "So they call us 'snowflakes.' But people that are wired, on the right, the way their brains are wired, they don't have that sense of empathy. I'm not saying it's good or bad — I'm just saying it is. And these people are the ones that have the guns. And they're willing to use them. And it's becoming pretty frightening."

GEOFF TATE Says It Was 'Very Odd' Seeing QUEENSRŸCHE Perform With TODD LA TORRE

GEOFF TATE Says It Was 'Very Odd' Seeing QUEENSRŸCHE Perform With TODD LA TORRE

Ex-QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate spoke to Thorn Of Rock about his 2017 chance encounter with his former bandmates at a festival in Spain. Asked if watching his previous band perform with a new singer was akin to seeing an ex-wife with a new man for the first time, Tate laughed and said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, kind of like that. [Laughs] I was actually at the show performing. I played with a band called AVANTASIA. So, AVANTASIA was headlining the Barcelona festival. And I went out early that day to the venue, 'cause I wanted to see QUEENSRŸCHE play. I hadn't seen them perform before without me. I think they were playing at, like, three o'clock in the afternoon, and there was hardly anybody there, but it was really interesting to see them play. And their singer [Todd La Torre], God, he sounds just like me. It was very odd. But I'm glad I [saw them]. I got to say hi to all the guys — except Scott [Rockenfield, drums]; he wasn't in the band anymore, I guess, at that time. But I got to say hi to Michael [Wilton, guitar] and Eddie [Jackson, bass] at least." [Fan-filmed video of Geoff watching QUEENSRŸCHE perform from the side of the stage can be seen below.]

Todd recounted his meeting with Geoff during an August 2017 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". He said: "[Geoff] was guest-performing with AVANTASIA. And I went to the [QUEENSRŸCHE] tour bus and I came back, and I noticed... It's a big backstage with all the drum risers there — you know how it is; they're rolling them in and out — and I saw him talking with Eddie. And so I thought, 'Oh, that's interesting,' because, you know, with everything that went down, you never know how's that dynamic gonna be if we're ever in close proximity together."

According to Todd, the guys in QUEENSRŸCHE "didn't know" that Geoff was going to be at the same event until "somebody had messaged me and said, 'Hey, did you realize that there's a likelihood that you're gonna run into Geoff Tate there?' So that was when I said to the guys, 'Hey, just an F.Y.I.: he is performing with this band, so we're probably gonna be in the same area. Just a heads up. I'm sure it'll be cool, hopefully.' And everyone was, like, 'Okay. Whatever.''

La Torre continued: "And so I saw him chatting with Eddie, and it was cool. And then we were going on, I don't know, maybe an hour, an hour and a half from that incident. And so our show started. He was stage left, so near Michael Wilton's side of the stage, and he stood there, I would imagine, it seemed like probably the whole show. I knew he was standing there watching. So afterward, the show was done and he came over, I exited the stage and he came over and kind of tapped me on the shoulder or something and said, 'Hey,' and put his hand out and said, 'We never really had a chance to meet, really.' And I said, 'Sure.' I shook his hand and he said, 'With everything that kind of went down…', and I said, 'Of course.' And he said, 'This is the first time I'ver heard you sing.' And I didn't know if he meant at all or, obviously, live. And so I said, 'Okay.' He said, he goes, 'Wow! You're amazing!' And I said, 'Well, thank you very much. That's nice to hear.' And I was complimentary of him. I said, 'Listen, for what it's worth, I have defended you. I know that sometimes the media and people can try to stir the pot, and for what it's worth, as far I'm concerned, you've done it all. I was kind of just expressing the sentiment, like, 'You don't have anything to prove in my book. You've already done it all.' And I said, 'I'm doing the best job that I know how.' I told him that the 'Empire' material is actually more difficult for me. I expressed to him that he's always had a very smooth control over those vocal parts, and that's more difficult for me. Now the older stuff is easier for me.'

At some point during Todd's conversation with Geoff, "Michael came over and [Tate] shook his hand and said, 'Man, the set was tight. It sounded great,'" La Torre recalled. 'So that was… We joked around and I think at the very end, I had said, 'It would be funny, since everybody is always trying to start shit between us,' I said, 'if we took a selfie together, that would be kind of hilarious, pointing at each other.' And we did, but I never posted the photograph, 'cause I thought, 'I don't need to stir any waters.' But we had a little laugh, and there was no craziness, nothing weird. So, at the end of the day, as an outsider, I thought, 'You know, this is good that we can be in the same area, and there's no craziness or anything.''

Todd said that he he appreciated Geoff's encouraging words, especially considering how awkward it must have been for Tate to witness his former band performing their classic songs with a replacement singer.

"Of course, there are some people that are divided still, the purist type of mentality, and I've heard it all: I suck and I don't sound anything like that, blah blah blah. And so I thought, what better testimony that the band is on the right track, the vocals sound worthy than to hear that from the original singer…" La Tore said. "I don't like to use the word 'endorsement,' but certainly acknowledging that the vocals sound great, the band sounds tight. I just thought, 'Wow, that's kind of an interesting perspective,' if you look at it from what I'm mentioning, where some people say, 'Oh, it doesn't sound right,' or this or that. And you say, 'Well, the original singer seems to think that it sounds excellent,' and what better testimony do you need?"

Asked by Trunk if it "played" on him at all during QUEENSRŸCHE's performance at Rock Fest Barcelona that Tate was standing on the side of the stage watching him sing, La Torre said: "No. No. I mean, at first it's, like, 'Okay, he's standing there watching.' I guess there's a moment of, 'Well, that's really kind of surreal: 'Here's the original singer watching the band perform and I'm singing those songs.' So for a split second [I thought about it], but to be completely honest, I don't care who's on the side of the stage, I just am always gonna just do what I do and not let that affect my psychology of 'How am I gonna perform?' or 'Do I feel intimidated?' I just threw it right out the window and said, 'Okay, there's some people on the side of the stage, like there typically is. Just do your show.' I don't ever get nervous before a show. I mean, if my voice doesn't feel good, then sometimes [I think], 'I hope tonight's gonna be good.'"

Todd continued: "In fact, [Geoff] had asked me [after our performance], he said, 'How do you think the show went?' And I said, 'Do you mean for the band or for me?' And I can't remember — I think he might have said 'both.' And I said, 'As far as the band goes, I think we did well.' I said, 'As far as my performance, I can blow that away,' because I can. I said, 'We've done all these shows — another six in a row, and then four in a row.' I said, 'I've only had one day off, and then another day off. So I'm a little tired, but I got through it.' He was still, again, nice. He said to me, 'I pity what you have to sing.' And I thought, 'I don't know what that means.' Because those records were so amazing and it's not easy material by any means. And I just said to him, 'You know what? Yeah, I can hit the high notes and do this and do that,' I said, 'but you know what you have that I don't have?' I said, 'You created a sound and style of singing — in my opinion — that is iconic. And so you've done it all.' I said, 'You've forgotten more, probably, than most singers would ever really achieve on that kind of a professional level.'"

La Torre added: "So it was a nice, complimentary exchange. We shook each other's hands, we did a little selfie. He was nice to me, I was nice to him. So, should there ever be another time where we're in the same area, it's nice to know that he could walk up to me or I could walk up to him, or whatever, and it's fine. So that was good."

La Torre joined QUEENSRŸCHE as the replacement for Tate, who was the band's original lead vocalist, after the latter was fired in 2012. A two-year legal battle followed where Tate sued for the QUEENSRŸCHE name, only for Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson to respond with a countersuit. They eventually settled the dispute, with Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson continuing as QUEENSRŸCHE, and Tate now having the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.

EVANESCENCE's 'The Bitter Truth' Hits No. 1 On iTunes In 22 Countries

EVANESCENCE's 'The Bitter Truth' Hits No. 1 On iTunes In 22 Countries

EVANESCENCE's new album, "The Bitter Truth", has charted at No. 4 in the U.K., making it the band's fourth Top Five album in the country. EVANESCENCE's first full-length release of all-new material in a decade, "The Bitter Truth" has also debuted as the top-selling rock and alternative album in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music Connect.

Shortly after its release on March 26, "The Bitter Truth" rose to the top of the iTunes album charts in 22 countries. Recorded during the pandemic, it confronts the dark realities of the world head-on. Yet its resounding message is one of light, and that pushing through is better than giving up.

EVANESCENCE's new music was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who also worked on 2011's self-titled LP.

When asked in a 2020 interview with U.K.'s Rock Sound if it was still accurate to describe the new EVANESCENCE material as "dark" and "heavy," as she did in 2019 during the early stages of the songwriting process, Lee said: "It's hard to sum up. I don't think you can sum it up just by saying that. In our first sessions that we did when we were writing together, definitely we were focusing mostly on just raw and heavy, because we'd just come off of 'Synthesis' and we were just dying to kind of document our sound as a group — which is cool, and we needed it, and it is a part of this album for sure. But it's gonna be more of a full palette than just that.

"It's been a really long time since we've put out a full new album, so it's important that we kind of do it all and use all of the parts that make up our sound, if that makes sense," she continued.

"One of the things that we've been kind of aiming towards is taking the elements of what maybe are things that make up our sound and try to separate them and give each of them their own space. So some of the songs don't have strings and are fully rocking and heavy. And then some of the songs might be really in the electronic zone, and something might be more on the orchestral side. But overall, definitely coming off of what we just came off of, it's gonna be a rock record."

On the topic of "The Bitter Truth" album title, Amy said: "As the lyrics had started to form, and just my feeling in this moment in general, there's a big theme of disillusionment for me. Just growing up and seeing that fairy tales aren't really real. And it's hard to be a grownup — it really is. Because somebody else isn't in charge, we really have to be able to make our own decisions, find out our own information, protect ourselves. People die — we're all going to. There's no magic castle. So that sounds like a lot of doom and gloom when I say it, but there's a choice to accept that truth and live in it and embrace it and choose to live and choose to live in a moment, and the choice to just give up. And there's a struggle there, but my choice is most definitely to take that pill."

AS I LAY DYING's PHIL SGROSSO Launches Solo Project APATHIAN

AS I LAY DYING's PHIL SGROSSO Launches Solo Project APATHIAN

San Diego can add a new player to the ranks of modern progressive metal with the release of APATHIAN's first single "Micro". The brainchild of multi-faceted guitarist Phil Sgrosso of AS I LAY DYING and SAOSIN, APATHIAN is an independently released solo project, created during the COVID-19 lockdown, which also challenged Phil's creative process by experimenting with an instrumental sound shaped by the expanded range of the eight-string guitar. The product is encapsulated in "Micro" and visualized by the sci-fi journey that was created by Monte Legaspi.

Sgrosso comments: "I was at somewhat of a creative low point when COVID-19 hit in early 2020. I had been on the road for six months with minimal breaks in between so I was feeling pretty exhausted. I was somewhat excited for things to slow down when the lockdowns began happening but it didn't really work out that way as I only became more anxious being limited by a lack of travel and stimulation from playing shows. Forming the APATHIAN side project and writing 'Micro' lifted me out of my creative lull developing a newfound excitement for creating something different than anything I'd ever done before. The limitation of being only instrumental kept me trying to do as much I could to keep the listener's attention throughout while also keeping the energy progressing naturally until the very end. I feel like writing 'Micro' with an eight-string created a lot more opportunities with the expanded tuning range, I had this excited sense of heaviness again. It's been a very fulfilling experience for me, especially during such an uncertain time."

He continues: "This was my first time working with Monte Legaspi on a music video and I was floored by his effort and execution. I wanted the video to be 100% concept and to tell a story rooted more in dystopian science fiction, that was sort of the vision I had while writing the music. From there Monte was able to create something that worked cohesively with the attitude and energy of the music. He exceeded my expectations for what's possible with visual effects, by far."

"Micro" was produced, engineered, composed, programmed by Sgrosso. For the mixing of the song, Phil enlisted Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound LA who has worked with the AS I LAY DYING team for the past few years. The single was mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Mastering. The artwork for the single was created by long-time colleague Corey Meyers.

Sgrosso is a songwriter, musician, and performer with additional interests in producing, engineering, composing and managing. He began his professional musical career in 2003 when he joined AS I LAY DYING. Since becoming a member, he has been the primary musical songwriter and recorded the majority of all guitar production for their albums.

In 2007, AS I LAY DYING was nominated for a Grammy with its song "Nothing Left" and has collectively sold over one million albums worldwide. On the Mayhem festival in 2012, Phil filled in for SLIPKNOT while one of their guitar players was recovering from an injury. He was also the principal songwriter and performer with WOVENWAR from 2013 to 2016.

From 2016 until the present day, he performs live with SAOSIN — touring internationally with the band. Later that year saw the release of his debut album with POISON HEADACHE, a side-project which he co-wrote, co-performed guitars and vocals, recorded bass, and handled production/engineer duties. In 2016, he also filled in for the power-violence band NAILS in support of their album "You Will Never Be One Of Us".

Since 2017, he has been managing San Diego industrial-doom metal artist AUTHOR & PUNISHER. With the 2019 release of AS I LAY DYING's latest album, "Shaped By Fire", Phil currently spends most of his time focusing on AILD with a few new musical projects in the works.

NAPALM DEATH Signs New Deal With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

NAPALM DEATH Signs New Deal With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

U.K. grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH have signed a new deal with Century Media Records, extending the long-running co-operation between the parties once more.

NAPALM DEATH vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway commented: "Very happy to let people know that we have put pen to paper and taken the plunge with Century Media again. Crucial to NAPALM DEATH was that we continued to retain artistic and creative control and also continue to have a determining voice in how our music is used — and, equally as importantly, isn't used. The people we have consistently worked with down the years at Century Media have always been extremely attuned to this, and we have never experienced anything like the heavy hand of suffocating commercial pressure that can be inherent in this kind of relationship and lead to crappy creative outcomes. Looking forward to sonically bending more minds with their help."

Philipp Schulte, director of Century Media Records in Europe, stated: "NAPALM DEATH and Century Media Records have gone a long way together already, so it makes us very happy continuing as the band's partner for the years ahead.

"The value of artistic freedom and creativity has always been of profound significance for NAPALM DEATH. It was the key to becoming and staying one of the most important bands — then and now. We take this very seriously. Thanks to the band for their trust. We are looking forward to this extended strong partnership."

In other news, Century Media Records is now making two of the group's outstanding albums from its ample catalog available physically again in their standard versions: "Time Waits For No Slave" (2009) and "Utilitarian" (2012) will be released as LP on 180-gram vinyl and as jewelcase CD on June 4.

NAPALM DEATH released its latest studio album, "Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism", in September via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" was again recorded with longtime producer Russ Russell and features artwork by Frode Sylthe

SALIVA To Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of 'Every Six Seconds' With Livestream Concert

Twenty years ago, SALIVA released its breakout sophomore studio album, "Every Six Seconds", which went on to reach platinum success and produced three charting singles. In celebration of the record, the band has announced that it re-recorded select songs from the album with current frontman Bobby Amaru. The band will release "Every Twenty Years" on May 7 and will perform tracks from the EP as part of a "one-night-only" livestream experience on Friday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. PT.

The livestream event "What Happens in Vegas, Streams in Vegas", presented by Live From Las Vegas, will see SALIVA perform tracks from "Every Twenty Years".

Livestream tickets, Zoom VIP Experience and merch packages can be purchased at saliva.veeps.com.

Speaking about the upcoming EP and the lasting impact of "Every Six Seconds", Amaru states: "In the 10 years I've been with the band, I've realized how strong our fan base really is. I wanted to do something for the fans for embracing me with open arms. Fans have asked me all the time if we ever thought about recording some of the old hits with my voice. I've sang those songs enough that they have become an important chapter of my life. What better way than to revive this album with an EP to mark the 20th anniversary? People of my generation and all around rocked these tunes before and will continue to. 'Every Six Seconds' brought SALIVA abundant success and we are all grateful."

"Every Twenty Years" track listing:

01. Your Disease (2021 Version)

02. Click Click Boom (2021 Version)

03. After Me (2021 Version)

"Every Six Seconds" and its hit singles, the Grammy-nominated "Your Disease" and "Click Click Boom", catapulted SALIVA into the mainstream and is now certified double platinum.

After nearly 15 years, SALIVA parted ways with vocalist Josey Scott. In 2011, Bobby Amaru stepped in to fill the roll, infusing SALIVA with new blood, spirit and an energy similar to that which launched the band's career a decade earlier. From modern metal to straight up hard rock, SALIVA continues to write in-your-face, anthemic songs, and win fans over through tours around the world with the biggest names in rock and appearances on the main stages at countless festivals and the most well-known motorcycle rallies.

STEEL PANTHER Is Recording New Album During Pandemic

STEEL PANTHER Is Recording New Album During Pandemic

California glam metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER have confirmed that they have commenced the recording process for their sixth studio album. The follow-up to 2019's "Heavy Metal Rules" will tentatively arrive before the end of the year.

During an appearance on the latest episode of the "Lipps Service With Scott Lipps" podcast, STEEL PANTHER drummer Stix Zadinia said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We're recording a new record right now. And we're doing this one differently than we've ever done a record. Usually, for every record, we get together, we go into pre-production, we work it out. Satchel [guitar] will come in with the songs, then we'll get together physically, work 'em out, go record 'em, and we're all at the studio. And because of the way things are now, it's forced us to sort of look at things through a different lens, and we've decided to try it this way… I'm tracking drums here [at home], I'm sending it to the guys, then there's guitars laid over, and then vocals that are gonna be recorded. So it's very separate. And then we'll have somebody mix it. And that'll be the record."

Added Satchel: "It's basically very similar to the way we've been doing records, except just a different order. I think every time you do a record, there's so much that has to be put into writing a song, making a song good and listening to a song from start to finish and having it be exciting and not bore you — all the stuff that goes into that is before you ever start to record. And then recording these days, we're all very lucky because you can get really great sounds in your home studio. The only thing that we're probably gonna go, and need to go, into a really good studio for is the drums, 'cause that involves the room and other things. But you don't necessarily have to do the drums first. If you're playing to a click, and if you work out the parts that you want for a record, you can replace it with real drums later on in the process. And that's just all we're doing. We're doing the guitars and the bass and the vocals first, and then we'll probably end up going in somewhere and doing the drums afterwards and then mixing at the very end. Mixing is always the last part of the process anyways. Just a little bit different order this time, just because like a lot of bands, most of our money comes from touring, so we don't have the money to go throw thousands of dollars to a recording studio right now."

Last December, STEEL PANTHER released a re-worked version of its song "Fuck Everybody" from "Heavy Metal Rules", now re-titled "Fuck 2020". The newly recorded version included updated verses that reflect the insanity of last year.

"Heavy Metal Rules" was released in September 2019. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including 2017's "Lower The Bar".

STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.

The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."

Thirteen years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

OZZY OSBOURNE To Be Inducted Into 'WWE Hall Of Fame'

OZZY OSBOURNE To Be Inducted Into 'WWE Hall Of Fame'

According to Wrestling Observer, Ozzy Osbourne will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Osbourne was an unannounced addition of the combined 2020/2021 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony, which was taped last week.

Although the legendary heavy metal singer was not present to accept the honor, he did tape a video message that will be aired as part of the show.

The WWE Hall Of Fame 2020 and 2021 induction ceremonies were taped in Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, and the edited version will air tonight (Tuesday, April 6) at 8 p.m. EST on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network around the world.

The BLACK SABBATH singer had previously canceled all his 2019 tour plans, and the rescheduled 2020 shows were also scrap

* No PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS

ACCEPT's latest album, "Too Mean To Die", came out in January via Nuclear Blast. The LP is the group's first without bassist Peter Baltes, who exited ACCEPT in November 2018. He has since been replaced by Martin Motnik. ACCEPT's lineup has also been expanded with the addition of a third guitarist, Philip Shouse, who originally filled in for Uwe Lulis during 2019's "Symphonic Terror" tour, before being asked to join the band permanently.

"Too Mean To Die" was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with British producer Andy Sneap (JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH), who has been responsible for the magnificent studio sound of ACCEPT since 2010.

ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann recently told France's Loud TV about the "Too Mean To Die" album title: "It's more or less our answer to the whole corona vibe in the land, in the world. Of course, it's not meant serious — we said, 'We're too mean to die. We can't be bothered by any little virus that's out there.' Of course, it's not meant to be totally serious. But it sounded like a metal album, it sounded like a metal title, and we liked it. So we decided to go that route and give the metal fans a fresh and in-your-face sort of statement and a metal album that doesn't really deal with anything corona-related. 'Cause I think people had enough of all the corona stuff by now. It's time to move on."

Regarding ACCEPT's decision to release "Too Mean To Die" during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wolf said: "It's gonna be a while until we can do a proper headlining tour. But we decided to go ahead and release it, because maybe fans will enjoy it now that they're in lockdown, and maybe it's gonna take their mind off everything. And it's better than waiting until who knows when — until we can tour again. So let's have the album out now. Fans can enjoy it and listen to it, and then one day we'll be on tour and we'll meet each other again."

CHARLIE BENANTE Confirms ANTHRAX Won't Release New Music Until Live Shows Return

CHARLIE BENANTE Confirms ANTHRAX Won't Release New Music Until Live Shows Return

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has confirmed to Canada's The Metal Voice that he and his bandmates likely won't release any music until the coronavirus pandemic has subsided and they are able to tour in support of the effort. Speaking about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings", Charlie said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We are gonna start working on the record again. Before COVID hit, we had about seven [or] eight songs that were killer, and we're gonna continue working on those and more.

"We didn't wanna put a record out during this time because we felt it would get just stuck up in that COVID vacuum. So we wanted to wait so at least we can go out and play these songs."

Benante went on to say that he is "encouraged" about the possibility of live concerts returning in the not-too-distant future. "And maybe we can get back to normalcy," he added. "I don't think it's gonna be the normal that we once had. I think there's still gonna be a couple of little guidelines that we're gonna have to follow.

"The most important thing is to just take care of each other here," he explained. "In America, things have gotten really ugly, and I want it to get back to a place where you are nice to your fellow neighbor and you're not an asshole to people."

Charlie's latest comments echo those made by his bandmate, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, who told the KLOS radio show "Whiplash" last November that he and his bandmates wanted to wait to release a new LP until they were able to play shows in support of the effort. "That's where I am personally right at this moment," he said. "Six months from now, who knows where the world is gonna be? We don't know. Maybe things will be closer to being back to normal; maybe they'll be further away from back to normal. Nobody has an answer to this, so anytime someone asks me about that, I really don't have an answer.

"In my brain, I don't wanna put a record out until I can play shows," he continued. "That's what I wanna do, but, of course, I don't control the world and I don't control what's gonna happen with COVID. I think I can safely say we will certainly be ready to make a record [in 2021]. So I think we will probably go do that once we're ready to go do it. There would be no reason to have a record [written] and then just sit around and not record it. So, I think once we actually feel like we're ready to go into the studio, we'll do that, regardless of where things are at on the planet, and then just take it from there. At least it'll be in the can, and then we'll be able to make a decision on what the best course is for us to take at that point.

"[Everybody is] in the same boat. There's no rules anymore. It's a completely different playbook, and everybody's gotta figure out what's gonna work."

Asked to describe the musical direction of the new ANTHRAX material, Scott said: "It's always hard for me to answer that, because it's more ANTHRAX songs, 'cause it always just sounds like ANTHRAX to me. And I don't really go much deeper than that. If I had to describe it, let's say comparing it to the last record, it's definitely riffier. There's more riffs; the songs have more riffs, I feel like, than the last record. There's already definitely more uptempo and fast stuff, but then again, we also aren't finished writing. That doesn't mean the fast stuff we've written is gonna go away. We're gonna probably write more songs, and then we'll see what the album's gonna be. But it's definitely riffier, and I think it's definitely faster, if I had to come up with two ways to describe it compared to 'For All Kings'."

At the 2019 Download festival in the United Kingdom, Benante said fans can expect to hear some surprises on ANTHRAX's next disc. "There's some extreme stuff on this record that we touched on," he said. "There's different things that we're gonna try and do that's gonna make it next level." Also in 2019, Charlie told Australia's "Everblack" podcast that ANTHRAX's new music is shaping up to be "a little more in the aggressive style."

"For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the "Big Four" tour, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music".

Benante will release a new album, "Silver Linings", on May 14 via Megaforce Records. The 14-track effort features an all-star cast of "who's who" in the thrash, metal, and rock worlds, with all cuts culled from Benante's acclaimed "quarantine jam" video series.

PAPA ROACH's New Album Will Be 'All Over The Place', Says JERRY HORTON

PAPA ROACH's New Album Will Be 'All Over The Place', Says JERRY HORTON

PAPA ROACH guitarist Jerry Horton spoke to Australia's Heavy about the band's upcoming follow-up to 2019's "Who Do You Trust?" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We have 18 songs now. We're in the process of mixing. We're hoping to get a new song out by summer, and then kind of lead up to an eventual release of an album the end of this year or early next year."

Asked what fans can expect to hear on the new PAPA ROACH LP, Jerry said: "I think that the curveballs are what people would expect these days. We're super excited about everything. There's riffage, there's hooks, there's some hip-hop in there — it's all over the place — but I think the fans are gonna love it, really."

Last month, PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix told the Minneapolis, Minnesota radio station 93X about the band's upcoming LP: "We're sitting on something special, man. This album is going to blow rock fans' minds. We are doing our best to project rock into the future but still maintain the guts and the purity of the genre and who we are as PAPA ROACH. So fans can expect to be taken on a wild ride on this one. And it's all things PAPA ROACH, dude. It's not like some self-undulgent, like, we got experimental and now we're making RADIOHEAD 'OK Computer', which is a great record, by the way. For us, we really wanted to hone in on what we felt were the strongest elements of our band and then evolving those."

In July 2020, Shaddix told Rock Sound TV that PAPA ROACH's next album will be released through band's own record company. "We are in partnership with Warner/ADA, and so it's like an artist services group," he explained. "And we're gonna do that for an album and see how it works out. We've been super focused in the creative marketing behind what we do and the imaging and the videos and the messaging and everything, we were, like, let's take it in our hands and see where we can go with it and try it for an album."

In January, a snippet of a brand new PAPA ROACH song called "Stand Up" was included in commercial for Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) partnership with ESPN.

PAPA ROACH's second greatest-hits collection, "Greatest Hits Vol. 2: The Better Noise Years", was released on March 19 on Better Noise Music.

"Greatest Hits Vol. 2 - The Better Noise Years" includes 12 of the band's top 10 hits released between 2010 to 2019 as well as three previously unreleased remixes and two unreleased acoustic recordings recorded live at the YouTube Studios in New York City.

PAPA ROACH's latest album, "Who Do You Trust?", was released in January 2019. The disc was produced by Nick "RAS" Furlong and Colin Cunningham except for the song "Top Of The World", which is helmed by Jason Evigan.

In December, PAPA ROACH released a five-song EP, "20/20", featuring "new takes on old jams," including "Last

Guitarist JASON BECKER, Who Suffers From ALS, Is 'Experiencing Shortness Of Breath And A Rapid Heart Rate'

Guitarist JASON BECKER, Who Suffers From ALS, Is 'Experiencing Shortness Of Breath And A Rapid Heart Rate'

Legendary guitarist and composer Jason Becker, who has been living with ALS for over 30 years, is "in constant contact with his doctors" after experiencing "shortness of breath and a rapid heart rate," according to his mother.

Earlier today (Monday, April 5), Pat Becker tweeted: "Jason has requested prayers from all you wonderful folks out there. He can feel your prayers, and is experiencing shortness-of-breath and a rapid heart rate which is pretty scary stuff.

"He has not been able to communicate his gratitude and love for all the recent donations and support, but he is so grateful to you all and hopes to get back to a level of energy that makes it possible to let you all know, personally, how much he appreciates you.

"We are in constant contact with his doctors and will keep you posted.

"Thank you all."

A short time after this story was first posted, KISS frontman Paul Stanley shared the article on his Twitter and included the following message: "Let's all send good thoughts & use the power of prayer to send along our positive energy to Jason Becker. This guitar prodigy has fought against all the odds for 30 years battling ALS & is now asking for our help. You are loved, admired and not alone Jason".

Throughout March and April, some of the world's greatest guitarists are coming together to raise money and celebrate Jason's music.

For more information on the virtual event, hosted in part by DRAGONFORCE guitarist Herman Li, visit Jasonbecker.com or twitch.tv/hermanli.

Becker's story is one of brilliance, talent, determination, adversity, and, ultimately, triumph. A child prodigy on guitar, Jason rose to prominence as a teenager when he was one half of the technical guitar duo CACOPHONY, with his great friend Marty Friedman. In 1989, at only 19 years old and after wowing audiences all over the world, the young virtuoso became the guitarist for David Lee Roth, following in the huge footsteps of Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. He wrote and recorded on Roth's third solo album, "A Little Ain't Enough", and was poised for superstardom when a nagging pain in his leg was diagnosed as Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's Disease, the same condition Stephen Hawking lived with for over five decades. It is a fatal condition with a life expectancy of maybe five years. Maybe.

That was more than 30 years ago. He lost the ability to play guitar, walk, talk, and breathe on his own. But never lost his will to live or his desire to create music. Communicating through a series of eye movements with a system developed by his father, Jason spells out words as well as musical notes and chords. He imparts his musical vision to his team who then can input the notes into a computer, edit the parts to his exacting standards, and then generate charts for session musicians. His inspiring music and life story have been the subject of countless news articles and magazine cover stories.

Becker's latest album, "Triumphant Hearts", was released in December 2018 via Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group. The disc features guest appearances by a who's who of six-string gods, including Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Neal Schon, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert and Joe Bonamassa.

"Jason has requested prayers from all you wonderful folks out there. He can feel your prayers, and is experiencing shortness-of-breath and a rapid heart rate which is pretty scary stuff."

SEBASTIAN BACH Is 'Ready To Rock' After Getting COVID-19 Vaccine

SEBASTIAN BACH Is 'Ready To Rock' After Getting COVID-19 Vaccine

Sebastian Bach has received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The 53-year-old former SKID ROW singer shared that he got the shot in a tweet earlier today.

"Got the shot Ready to ROCK!!" he wrote in a caption accompanying a picture of him after getting the vaccine.

"Every one of you who calls yourself a rock fan go get the vaccine and a vaccine passport so we can get this show on the road again mother truckers!

"Thank you @POTUS #ScienceKnows #AMERICAISBACK".

So far, 96 million Americans — nearly 30% — have received at least one dose of the three vaccines, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A Pew Research Center survey in late February found that 69% of Americans either have already been vaccinated or plan to be vaccinated.

Although the COVID-19 vaccine was produced quickly because of the urgency of the health crisis and the number of clinical trial volunteers, scientists say the vaccine was not rushed, and it relies on years of research.

The nation's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has estimated that about 70-85% of Americans would need to be vaccinated to reach herd immunity.

America's two main vaccines have shown 95% efficacy against the coronavirus.

As of late January, the CDC discovered that only 11 per 1 million people experienced severe reactions from the Pfizer vaccine, and only 2.5 per 1 million people who received the Moderna dose.

Johnson & Johnson's vaccine, which became available in the United States earlier this month after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave it emergency use authorization, was tested with new variants of COVID-19, and has shown to be effective against them; Pfizer and Moderna were tested prior to the emergence of these variants.

Got the shot ? Ready to ROCK!! every one of you who calls yourself a rock fan go get the vaccine and a vaccine passport so we can get this show on the road again mother truckers! Thank you @POTUS #ScienceKnows ?? #AMERICAISBACK ? for #rocknrollhttps://t.co/TQZrdaqKzs pic.twitter.com/R7igGBLpKZ
