AC/DC's ANGUS YOUNG Says Some Of The Riff Ideas On 'Power Up' Are At Least 20 Years OldIn a new interview with Australia's ABC, AC/DC guitarist Angus Young confirmed that his late brother, founding AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, was posthumously involved in the making of the band's long-awaited comeback album, "Power Up". Malcolm, who died three years ago from effects of dementia at age 64, is credited as a writer on all 12 tracks on "Power Up".
"A lot of the ideas Malcolm and myself had through the years," Angus said. "They were ideas that the two of us together had worked on. At the time we always said, 'Oh yeah, we got to get to that'. We always put aside the songs that we always thought were good AC/DC-style songs. So, with this album, it was a case of, 'All right, I'll go through and get a lot of those ideas the two of us worked on that we always believed should have gone out there as AC/DC tracks.'"
Even though the riff ideas that eventually made it to "Power Up" had been set aside by the Young brothers over many years, Angus is confident about their quality.
"I can think of a few [that are] probably from the '90s," Angus said. "At the time there were good, strong ideas. I mean, a lot of them I've remembered in my head and I've always at some point said 'Oh, we've got to get to that track, and that track.'"
Angus went on to say that he has "a few boxes" of ideas from writing sessions with his brother that didn't make it to their past records.
"We did a lot of stuff together over the years," he said. "A lot of stuff we would say 'That's definitely an AC/DC track, that one's gonna work, this is gonna work'."
Malcolm, who co-founded AC/DC with Angus in 1973, died in November 2017 after failing health for several years. His condition forced him to leave the band in 2014, with his nephew Stevie Young stepping into Malcolm's position.
"Power Up" is due on November 13. The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien, who also worked 2008's "Black Ice" and "Rock Or Bust".
"Power Up" will be available in multiple configurations, including digital, CD, and deluxe versions. The limited edition, one-of-a-kind deluxe "Power Up" box is the ultimate fan package. Hit the button on the side of the box and watch the flashing neon AC/DC logo light up while the opening bars of "Shot In The Dark" blast out of the built-in speaker. Inside the box is the full CD package in a soft-pack with a 20-page booklet that features exclusive photos and USB charging cable allowing the box to remain powered up and on display. The vinyl LP will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket. Limited-edition variants of the LP will be available at select retailers nationwide, as well as the band's online store. The album will be available on all digital platforms. 33

ROB HALFORD Says New JUDAS PRIEST Music Is 'Incredibly Fierce', Compares Some Songs To 'Painkiller'JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford spoke to Mark Strigl and John "Ostronomy" Ostrosky of Talking Metal about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to "Firepower" album. Released in March 2018, "Firepower" was the second LP to feature guitarist Richie Faulkner, who was selected to fill the void left by founding guitarist K.K. Downing following his exit in 2011.
"We had some great writing sessions at the start of this year back in the U.K. at Glenn's [Tipton, guitar] setup, his studio," Rob said (see video below). "And, man, it was boundless opportunities that were coming out of those writing sessions. We did a lot of demos. I've got pretty much an [album's worth] of [new] JUDAS PRIEST [material] on this phone right now. And it's just amazing.
"I've gotta give a shoutout to the fans, as we always do," he continued. "We can't be who we are without you guys looking after us and giving us the inspiration and the motivation. Because we came off that 'Firepower' tour so energized, and we still were feeling that when we started the writing sessions early this year, and we got a lot of work done.
"On average, we usually have three or four big writing sessions of a month or so at a time. And so we got the first one down, and we've got a lot of material. It's incredibly fierce. I think that energy was just being channeled, especially from Richie. Some of his riffs and some of the core of the songs, they're absolutely lethal. I feel textures of the 'Painkiller' experience in some of the songs, and the classic elements again. It'll have its own legs, like they all do — they've all got their own character. And I think whatever this album is called and whenever it's released, it'll be another great metal milestone for JUDAS PRIEST."
"Firepower" was recorded by British producer Andy Sneap, the band's longtime collaborator Tom Allom and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH), and Rob said that he would be thrilled to collaborate with all three again.
"It was a great experience working with Andy and Tom Allom, because they have two different approaches as producers," Halford said. "And we didn't even know if that was gonna work when we started to think about putting them together. But what a great idea that was, and they made some special things happen in terms of production. Me personally, I'm happy to replicate that thing over again, because I think we just touched the surface of it with the 'Firepower' production team, with Mike Exeter as well, who had just come off the SABBATH '13' album. So, anything can happen. But I just feel it's gonna be another very, very extra-strong record when we finally get it made."
Last month, Faulkner told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that the creative process for PRIEST's next LP was halted by the coronavirus outbreak, which disrupted global travel.
Halford resides in Phoenix, Faulkner in Nashville and Tipton still calls his native United Kingdom his home.
"Firepower" entered the Billboard 200 chart at position No. 5, making it PRIEST's highest-charting album ever. "Redeemer Of Souls" debuted and peaked at No. 6, while 2008's "Nostradamus" landed at No. 11 and 2005's "Angel Of Retribution" came in at No. 13.
"Firepower" moved 49,000 equivalent album units in first week of release. Of that sum, 48,000 were in traditional album sales, just shy of the 54,000 copies sold by "Angel Of Retribution" in that album's first week. The "Firepower" chart position was bolstered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer in association with the band's spring 2018 North American tour.
Across the pond, "Firepower" landed at position No. 5 on the U.K. album chart. It marked the band's highest ranking, and first time in the Top 10, since "British Steel" reached No. 4 in 1980. Elsewhere, "Firepower" also became PRIEST's first-ever No. 1 in Sweden. 2

Listen To BRING ME THE HORIZON's Collaborations With BABYMETAL And EVANESCENCE's AMY LEEBritish rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON have just released their new EP, "Post Human: Survival Horror", via Columbia Records. The nine-song effort includes the previously released singles "Obey", "Ludens", "Parasite Eve" and "Teardrops", as well as new collaborations with NOVA TWINS, BABYMETAL and EVANESCENCE's Amy Lee.
Amy can be heard on the closing track, "One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death", while BABYMETAL appears on "Kingslayer".
Speaking about how her collaboration with BRING ME THE HORIZON came about, Lee told Revolver: "I don't really know them personally. We'd just been fans of each other's music, and you know how music is — you feel like you know that person because the music lives in you. While I'd been very busy working on our album ['The Bitter Truth'], and getting a little bit stuck on some of the words, they sent me this track to work on, and it was such a beautiful escape and release for me. It felt like something I wasn't supposed to do, like my secret little side thing, and it really was just so fulfilling to go back and forth, to collaborate, to have all these conversations every day with Oli [frontman Oliver Sykes]. It felt beautiful to finish something. It was the boost and the inspiration to take the EVANESCENCE music with a new satisfaction and fuel, where I'd just been frustrated before."
"Post Human: Survival Horror" track listing:
01. Dear Diary
02. Parasite Eve
03. Teardrops
04. Obey (feat. Yungblud)
05. Itch For The Cure (When We Will Be Free?)
06. IXI (feat. NOVA TWINS)
07. Kingslayer (feat. BABYMETAL)
08. Ludens
09. One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death (feat. Amy Lee)
This past June, Sykes told Kerrang! magazine about the band's new music: "Like [2019's] 'Amo' [album] was very collage-y in terms of it spanning from ballads to poppy songs to heavier songs to electro, we wanted this next record to be a mood. As the pandemic unfolded and everything changed, the mood I had in mind started to not feel right. Basically, I had this idea to make some records — I didn't know how many, but more than one — that all fell under a blanket name of 'Post Human'. Each record would have its own theme and its own message. The first was going to be about compassion and self-love because I wanted to build up to a record about changing ourselves and changing our future because we need to self-evolve. We can't just say, 'We are humans. This is how it is,' because as humans, we've already stepped outside of the food chain by bringing technology into our lives. We need to continue to modify ourselves until we can be proud of what we do on this planet and live harmoniously, not just with ourselves but other creatures. That's the message I wanted to put out there, but I know the world's not ready for that on the grand scale. First, we need people to love themselves. There's too many people out there that hate themselves, and I always think, 'If you don't have compassion for yourselves, how're you going to have compassion for other people?'
"But as the pandemic unfolded, I didn't think the world was ready for that record. Just like everyone else, I'm pissed off, I'm scared, I'm angry… we need to write a record that embodies that. Before we get to compassion, we need to get out the frustration and anger. This first record's going to be battle songs, like a recruitment record — songs of anger and hope. It's not going to offer a solution, it's going to be more about asking people to come and find a solution with us. This first music is to get you back up, get your blood pumping, get you pissed off and thinking about what's going on. The record will follow a similar tone of 'Ludens' and 'Parasite Eve' and that's going to be the first record of four. We're going to release four different records over the next year, all under this name 'Post Human', and they'll all be very different. There'll be a thread, and the lyrical themes will progress as a story, but in terms of the tone, it'll be quite different."
BRING ME THE HORIZON spent the last few months writing and recording new music remotely, releasing a series of videos that show how the band has managed to work on the songs during the coronavirus pandemic.
BRING ME THE HORIZON will embark on a five-date U.K. arena tour in September 2021. The dates are as follows:
Sep. 21 - Glasgow, UK @ The SSE Hydro
Sep. 22 - Cardiff, UK @ Motorpoint Arena
Sep. 24 - Sheffield, UK @ FlyDSA Arena
Sep. 25 - Birmingham, UK @ Utilita Arena
Sep. 26 - London, UK @ The O2 Arena 2

Watch SMASHING PUMPKINS' Music Video For 'Ramona'SMASHING PUMPKINS have released the official Linda Strawberry-directed music video for the song "Ramona" from their upcoming double album, "Cyr". Also available is another new track, "Wyttch".
"Cyr" will be issued on November 27 via Sumerian Records. The 20-song follow-up to 2018's "Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun." was produced by singer-songwriter Billy Corgan.
"'Cyr' is dystopic folly," Corgan said in a statement, "one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn't possible with faith."
"Cyr" track listing:
01. The Colour Of Love
02. Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict
03. Cyr
04. Dulcet In E
05. Wrath
06. Ramona
07. Anno Satana
08. Birch Grove
09. Wyttch
10. Starrcraft
11. Purple Blood
12. Save Your Tears
13. Telegenix
14. Black Forest, Black Hills
15. Adrennalynne
16. Haunted
17. The Hidden Sun
18. Schaudenfreud
19. Tyger, Tyger
20. Minerva
Corgan recently told Apple Music about "Cyr": "I think this is the music that's coming out now is the things that have taken root. We've gone back to just being ourselves.
"We're good pop assassins, and I think as long as we're sort of in that space, we're good. Anybody can ascribe anything they want to it as far as stylistically, but it bears repeating that what most of the general public knows of the band is really only one small slice of the band's music. The band's sort of width was a lot wider. So this falls quite comfortably in the music that we've made through the years."
"Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun." was SMASHING PUMPKINS' first album in over 18 years to feature founding members Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha, along with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

SIXX:A.M. Releases Lyric Video For 'Belly Of The Beast' From 'Sno Babies' SoundtrackSIXX:A.M.'s anthem "Belly Of The Beast", is a highlight of the "Sno Babies" soundtrack. The brand-new lyric video for the song incorporates scenes from the powerful film. The track was originally featured on SIXX:A.M.'s 2016 album "Prayers For The Damned Vol. 1".
"Sno Babies" is a gripping and emotive tale that depicts the grim realities of teenage addiction. Kristen and Hannah are best friends — smart, likeable and college-bound — and also addicted to heroin. The pair of seemingly unlikely addicts spiral down a path of destruction, hiding their secret from well-meaning but busy parents behind pink bedrooms and school uniforms. Directed by Bridget Smith and starring Katie Kelly ("Game Of Silence"), Paola Andino ("Queen Of The South") and Michael Lombardi ("Rescue Me"), "Sno Babies" shows how easy it can be to both miss and hide the signs of addiction. Better Noise Films' share of profits is being donated to The Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI) and The Amy Winehouse Foundation.
The trailer for "Sno Babies" has racked up over 6.5 million combined views to date.
In a mission to reduce the stigma of Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and make an impact, Better Noise Films has collaborated with GRI to use the film's release as a platform to raise awareness of their efforts to provide access to recovery support services all around the world. GRI is the first and only national community foundation dedicated to building a philanthropic source of funding for organizations to expand their capacity to provide people with SUD recovery support systems and services to combat the growing problem. The Amy Winehouse Foundation will utilize the funds for its many important programs, including its Recovery Pathways Program for Young People and Amy's Place - Recovery Housing for young women in the U.K.
The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the risk for those in recovery, for both catching the virus and more severe outcomes. Treatments and support systems are disrupted, and social isolation increases the risk for addiction, relapse and overdose deaths.
October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, and Better Noise Entertainment continues to highlight the hope that exists in recovery through the release of music from its biggest artists like SIXX:A.M.
SIXX:A.M. features MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx alongside guitarist DJ Ashba and singer James Michael.

JOE BONAMASSA On Death Of EDDIE VAN HALEN: It's Like Losing STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN And JIMI HENDRIX AgainJoe Bonamassa has reflected on the passing of Eddie Van Halen, saying he was a "tremendously impactful" guitarist who "came up with some really inventive, powerful things."
Bonamassa discussed his appreciation for the innovative VAN HALEN axeman, who died from cancer on October 6 at age 65, during an interview with Guitar Interactive magazine.
He said (see video below): "It's like losing Stevie [Ray Vaughan] again, and [Jimi] Hendrix.
"[People] never would associate me being a big Eddie Van Halen fan.
"When I hear his stuff, especially early stuff, I hear a blues-rock guy that came up with some really inventive, powerful things," he continued. "I hear the blues in it. I hear a lot of songs — even 'Hot For Teacher' and stuff like that — and it's, like, 'Let's do 'La Grange' on 80.' His tone, how clean it was — I can hear the [Eric] Clapton; I can hear the blues. And then he just would take it somewhere else.
"He was tremendously impactful to so many that you just go, there's pre-Eddie [and then there's] post-Eddie. That was it. I mean, how many single-humbucker Strats were before 1978? One knob and a bunch of stripes on it. Now there's millions. That's one guy. That's how much he changed the name."
Eddie died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. His wife, Janie, was by his side, along with his son, Wolfgang, and Alex, Eddie's brother and VAN HALEN drummer.
The iconic VAN HALEN axeman died from complications due to cancer, his son confirmed.
VAN HALEN was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2007.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked Eddie Van Halen No. 8 in its list of the 100 greatest guitarists.
After undergoing hip replacement surgery in 1999 due to a chronic joint problem, Eddie was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2000 and had to have part of his tongue surgically removed. He later battled throat cancer and reportedly had been receiving radiation treatment in Germany. It is believed that his heavy smoking over the years led to his long battle with cancer.

TESTAMENT's ALEX SKOLNICK Is 'My Favorite Rapper': Official T-Shirts Now AvailableThe Martyr Store is now taking orders for the "Skolnick Is My Favorite Rapper" t-shirt. The shirt is a tribute to TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick, who recently released two anti-Donald Trump rap songs, "Trump Sucks" and "Wear A Fucking Mask".
An outspoken critic of America's 45th president, Skolnick explained his foray into rap at the time of "Wear A Fucking Mask"'s release, writing on social media: "My recent homespun rap track 'Trump Sucks' got so much attention, from being labelled 'an anthem' and 'brilliant' to 'pathetic' and 'cringeworthy,' that I just had to follow it up.
"Staying in my lane is something I've never been good at.
"I realize a jazz/rock guitarist widely known for his thrash metal work releasing old-school rap tunes with a sociopolitical message and Zappa-esque satire might not make sense. But my question to you is: Does anything make sense these days?"
He added: "This sequel had more energy put into it so I hope everyone who appreciated the first one feels similarly about 'WAFM'.
"To anyone who thought the first track represents the pinnacle of my rap technique, three words: HOLD MY BEER".
Last month, Skolnick said it was "more urgent than ever" to vote Trump out of office in November.
The 51-year-old guitarist has made no secret of his political views, frequently tweeting against Trump's policies, including the current administration's handling of the outbreak of of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus first observed in China. In March, the guitarist blasted Trump for not being able to "convey a sense of reassurance during a time of emergency."
TESTAMENT's latest album, "Titans Of Creation", was released in April via Nuclear Blast.

Hear LIZZY BORDEN's Cover Of RAMONES' 'Pet Sematary'After releasing "My Midnight Things" to critical acclaim in 2018, LIZZY BORDEN has been touring in support of it, joining the likes of DEMONS & WIZARDS and TÝR on the road in North America last year, plus performing at stages around the world. Now, LIZZY BORDEN has announced a new greatest hits collection for fans: "Best Of Lizzy Borden, Vol. 2".
Available digitally on November 13, "Best Of Lizzy Borden, Vol. 2" picks up where 1994's "Best Of Lizzy Borden" leaves off, containing 12 tracks that showcase the "Deal With The Devil" (2000), "Appointment With Death" (2007) and "My Midnight Things" (2018) albums. Additionally, the collection features two new cover songs recorded in the summer of 2020 (the first recordings by Lizzy's latest live show lineup): BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's "Burnin’ for You" and the RAMONES' "Pet Sematary" — both mixed by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, STONE SOUR).
Digitally remastered by Tom Baker (DAVID BOWIE, ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON, TOM PETTY), "Best Of Lizzy Borden, Vol. 2" can be pre-ordered now.
"Best Of Lizzy Borden, Vol. 2" track listing:
01. My Midnight Things
02. Long May They Haunt Us
03. Tomorrow Never Comes
04. Obsessed With You
05. (This Ain't) The Summer Of Love
06. Under Your Skin
07. Lovin' You Is Murder
08. The Scar Across My Heart
09. There Will Be Blood Tonight
10. We Only Come Out At Night
11. Abnormal
12. Live Forever
13. Pet Sematary
14. Burnin' For You
Two years ago, Lizzy told RockEyez about the long gap between "Appointment With Death" and "My Midnight Things": "The reason I stopped making records [was] because we were touring, and we were having fun touring all over the world, playing different countries that we'd never played before. It was amazing, but I did miss being a recording artist. I stopped recording because the industry collapsed, and all we had was the old record deals. The old record deal that I had was worthless — it didn't mean anything; it was impossible to even do. I did two records that way, 'Deal With The Devil' and 'Appointment With Death', with the old style of record deal, and then the industry completely imploded, and then it was just, 'Okay, I can't function this way.' I just resigned myself to playing the back catalog live, but Brian Slagel from Metal Blade Records had a meeting with me and convinced me that they had changed the game. The success that they've had has been amazing for an independent label. The proof was in the pudding on how they figured out how to rise above the ashes of the industry. There's a whole different system in place, and he talked me into making records again."

Canadian Death Country Band JOHNNY NOCASH AND THE CELTIC OUTLAWS Release New Single / Video "Burned Alive"Johnny Nocash And The Celtic Outlaws are a one of a kind band that fuses country and rock, sodden with whisky and beer to create an organic, original sound that will appeal to a broad range of listeners.
According to Nocash, their new single "Burned Alive" is a heavy hard rock song with some dusty western elements scattered throughout the leads. It embodies their primal death country sound while knocking back a few drinks to loosen up the ol’ neck collar. This video is a straightforward look at who the band is: Booze fuelled death country. What you see is what you get. The band explains the track in their own words:
"Our new single 'Burned Alive' is a combination of the time we’ve spent on the road mixed with all of us coming together as a unit, a brotherhood if you will, to create something that moves people. We feel that this will not only be received well from our fans now but will pull outside audiences in for a closer listen to what we have to say.'
Johnny Nocash began as a solo artist and remained that way for 10 years until 2016, when he decided it was time to expand the band and open up to adding musicians to his arsenal. This resulted in the transformation from emotionally driven acoustic punk songs into the sound now called Death Country.
"Burned Alive" is available now on all streaming platforms. Check out the band's official Facebook page here.

ALDO NOVA And Band Perform Special Home Studio Version Of "Monkey On Your Back"; VideoIn a new video, Canadian rocker, musician and Grammy winning writer/producer Aldo Novo and his live band perform a special home studio version of Aldo's song, "Monkey On Your Back", for all the people that are stuck at home because of COVID 19.
The video features Billy Carmassi on drums, Timothy Gaines on bass, Hugo St. Laurent on keyboards, and Mike Bruno on guitar. Watch below:
Aldo Nova (as the character Andy Christos), recently released the new single, "Hey Ladi Dadi", taken from the rock opera, The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage. Listen to the song below. Available to buy or stream on all the digital outlets, Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and everywhere music is available.
"Hey Ladi Dadi", musically and lyrically describes the character of Andy Christos, interpreted by Aldo Nova, and is taken from The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage, which is about the trials and tribulations of a young musical prodigy called Eddie Gage that gets signed to the Trait record label by Andy Christos, the president of Trait Records that makes Eddie sign a lifetime recording contract where Eddie pretty much becomes his slave. Andy though is a lot more than he seems, which is a man who has plans for world domination, and "Hey Ladi Dadi" is sung from the perspective of Andy himself, and the lyrics tell of how he intends to do it. Musically, it is almost metal but the music doesn't use the standard commonly used chords as most songs today, but rather all heavy guitar riffs, all played in chromatic scales, which give emphasis to the lyrics and character of Andy Christos.
Aldo Nova previously released an official video for the song "I'm A Survivor", from his 2018 album, Aldo Nova 2.0. Watch below.
“We’re all "Survivors”, COVID 19 won’t keep us down," says Aldo Nova on his live stage setup for the filming of the video.
The video also features Timothy Gaines (bass), Billy Carmassi (drums), Mike Bruno (rhythm guitar) and Sebastien Cloutier (keyboards). Directed and edited by Christian Jacques. Lighting design by Pierre E. Roy.
The song is pure rock with a capital "R" with a message from Aldo to never give up and never give in no matter how much life beats you down, just fight and get back up and kick it in the teeth.

ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX And MASTODON Members Cover SOUNDGARDEN's 'Rusty Cage' (Video)ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has teamed up with ALICE IN CHAINS singer William DuVall, MASTODON guitarist Bill Kelliher and METAL ALLEGIANCE bassist Mark Menghi to record a cover version of the SOUNDGARDEN classic "Rusty Cage", filmed while they were in quarantine.
Benante uploaded a video of the performance to his YouTube channel, writing in an accompanying message: "Rusty Cage...first song off of Badmotorfinger and a Damn Good one at that! This song makes me wanna drive fast.
"I was a @soundgarden fan as soon as I heard 'hunted down'. I then heard the FOPP ep on which they had covered an @ohioplayers song (Honey was a great Album) and I was Hooked. I saw them numerous times from 1988-89 to playing festivals with them a few years ago. I always thought they had 'it': they were tight but loose,up and down,in and out of tune, heavy and soft, always unique. I always loved the way @Chriscornellofficial sang, His voice was so Recognizable. I saw them at the Armory in New York and he came out and did an acapella version of Beth by @kissonline , I got goosebumps.
"We are celebrating the music they created with this version of Rusty Cage. When @billy_butterslax , @markmenghi, @williamduvallofficial and I decided to Jam this one out it was because it moved us when we first heard it and dammit, it still does!
"Hope you all enjoy it and Take the time to think what Good Music does to your soul.
"Thank you to @dlevanchuk and @tom.w.tapley . Love to #kimthayil #mattcameron #benshepherd ."
Benante has been using his coronavirus downtime to connect virtually with other metal musicians and share videos of them covering various pop, rock and metal tracks, including those by RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, Billie Eilish and Tom Petty.
ANTHRAX has spent most of the last four years touring in support of its latest album, "For All Kings", which was released in February 2016. A follow-up effort is expected in 2021. 1

BUTCHER BABIES Showcase More Melodic Sound With New Single 'Bottom Of A Bottle'BUTCHER BABIES has released a new single, "Bottom Of A Bottle". The song is the first taste of the band's forthcoming fourth studio album, tentatively due in early 2021 via an as-yet-undisclosed record label.
BUTCHER BABIES vocalist Heidi Shepherd stated about the writing process for "Bottom Of A Bottle": "It was a beautiful, summer evening in the Arizona desert when 'Bottom Of A Bottle' was created. I sat outside watching the sunset while sipping on a drink and realized that all the inspiration I needed was all around me."
"This song is a product of the environment it was created in," she continued. "In that moment, I was the guy at the end of the bar telling stories from yesterday-year. I've been there a time or two so the lyrics just flowed. This song holds a special place in my heart because of that exact moment. We've been sitting on this song for a long time so I cannot wait for our fanbase to take the trip with us!"
Added co-vocalist Carla Harvey: "Haven't we all been at the bottom of the bottle at some point? Name a better way to to commiserate about it than by writing an anthem that turns the heartache into a celebration. We are pumped to finally release some new tunes that showcase a different side of who we are, yet remain uniquely BUTCHER BABIES."
Asked in a recent interview with Syfy Wire's "Metal Crush" how BUTCHER BABIES' new LP differs from 2017's "Lilith", Shepherd said: "It differs a lot. You still have the classic BUTCHER BABIES metal behind us, but I found myself wanting to sing more.
"When I first started BUTCHER BABIES, I was an angry young girl, and I had a lot to scream about. I'm a happy 35-year-old woman now, so I have a lot that I wanna sing about."
BUTCHER BABIES next album will be the band's first since its split with Century Media over a year ago.
This past April, Shepherd told ELUVEITIE's "Corona Talk" that "it was a hard decision to part ways with Century Media." She explained: "Here in the U.S., the label doesn't exactly exist much here anymore. And so it was a really difficult decision. We were with them for our entire career; we've been a band for 10 years. It just wasn't working here in the States. But we do love our Century Media family."
"Lilith" was produced by Steve Evetts (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SEPULTURA, SUICIDE SILENCE) and marked BUTCHER BABIES' recording debut with drummer Chase Brickenden, who replaced Chris Warner in 2016.
In July 2019, longtime BUTCHER BABIES bassist Jason Klein announced his departure from the band. He has since been replaced by Ricky Bonazza.

AD INFINITUM Announces Chapter I Revisited - Digital Acoustic Version Of Debut Album; ”Marching On Versailles" (Acoustic) Video StreamingSymphonic metal alliance, Ad Infinitum, have reimagined their spellbinding debut album, Chapter I: Monarchy, with Chapter I Revisited - a very special acoustic version of their first full-length, to be digitally released December 4 via Napalm Records.
With over one million views on YouTube, Ad Infinitum’s single “Marching On Versailles” speaks for itself and breaks in with thrashing drums as well as stormy guitar riffs - ‘til now. On Chapter I Revisited, the quartet dressed all the debut’s songs - including the hit single “Marching On Versailles” - into an acoustical and rather natural arrangement, representing another beautiful yet unknown aspect of it: Delicate guitar tunes immediately deliver the catchy melody of the chorus straight to the listener, showcasing that Ad Infinitum chose wisely in selecting this smasher as their first single back when Chapter I: Monarchy was released, as well. With the addition of Latin instrumental elements, this version of “Marching On Versailles (Acoustic)” represents a whole new facet of the four-piece.
Ad Infinitum on "Marching On Versailles (Acoustic)": “2020 has been, and still is, challenging for everyone. The band had to find other ways than touring to connect with our fans and friends. Therefore, working in secret, we prepared one more surprise for you. An early Christmas present! A complete acoustic album featuring all the songs of Chapter I: Monarchy. Be ready for Chapter I Revisited!”
Watch the video for ”Marching On Versailles" (Acoustic) below:
The quartet, fronted by inimitable vocalist Melissa Bonny, have impressively attired the ten songs on Chapter I Revisited as an acoustic arrangement, showcasing how beautifully the hits like "See You In Hell" or “Demons”, amongst others, magically unfold in a more instrumentally-organic environment. Surrounded by gentle guitar playing, the originally dark symphonic metal album transforms to lightness throughout the harmonic approach of instruments. Melissa Bonny’s multifaceted vocal power shines like a bright star in the dark sky and manages to shake the firmament despite the acoustic background, notedly expressed as the powerful growls in “Maleficent” break through the silent surrounding.
Melissa Bonny on Chapter I Revisited: “After the release of Chapter I: Monarchy, we received very positive feedbacks concerning the acoustic bonus tracks. This summer, when we realised that we would probably not tour at all this year, we decided to create something special for the people who support us. We revisited and re-recorded entirely our Chapter I and we gave it a brand new atmosphere. Please welcome Chapter I Revisited!”
Pre-order your digital version of Chapter I Revisited here.

MORDRED Signs With M-Theory Audio; The Dark Parade Album Due In Spring 2021The acclaimed and influential crossover thrash band, Mordred, has signed with M-Theory Audio. The group will release The Dark Parade - their first full-length record in over 25 years - in spring 2021.
Mordred was formed in 1984 as the burgeoning San Francisco Bay Area thrash scene was beginning its rise to global prominence. While mosh-inducing thrash formed the basic blueprint of their sound, Mordred stood out as a unique presence thanks to their integration of funk-infused musicianship and hip-hop influences. The group was one of the first bands to explore those diversities in extremes, but as the dexterous bass performance of Art Liboon and innovative turntable work from band collaborator Aaron “DJ Pause” Vaughn provided a new spin on the thrash metal genre, Mordred retained their metallic bark thanks to groove-laden shred from guitarists Danny White and James Sanguinetti, and energetic shout-along choruses spearheaded by vocalist Scott Holderby. That combination of thrash metal and exploratory soul powered three full-lengths on Noise Records between 1989 and 1994, from their revered debut Fool's Game, to their even more eclectic sophomore follow-up In This Life, through their final - until now - record, The Next Room.
Mordred formally reunited in 2013 for live performances, but outside of the release of lone single, “The Baroness,” in 2015, fans would have to wait for new music until this past summer. Longtime fans of the band were finally satiated with the June 2020 release of the four-song EP, Volition. The new songs saw the band - which now consists of five-sixths of the classic lineup, plus new drummer Jeff Gomes (formerly of Fungo Mungo and MIRV) - reviving the sounds that led them to become cult favorites 30 years ago. The group recently released a music video for “Not For You,” the lead-off track from Volition, for viewing below.
Limited CD and vinyl releases of Volition are also now available for purchase, here.
The Volition EP is only a small taste of things to come from the revitalized Mordred, as the band has finished recording The Dark Parade, and currently finishing the mix for an album on track for a spring 2021 release through M-Theory Audio.
“I’m excited to announce the signing of Mordred. The band is legendary to me from reading about their early demos, to witnessing the group live at my first Bay Area club show after moving to California in ’87, to following their signing and releases via Noise Records,” explains label founder Marco Barbieri. “Mordred were always part of the Bay Area thrash fabric that I love so dearly but took their sound to whole new places creating something fresh and alternative and able to crossover between scenes when no one had the nerve or ingenuity to do so. I was stoked to see them reform and more so when they released new music. I knew that we needed to get involved in a cooperation to bridge the gaps between generations and styles and get their name and music back out there.”
“We’re super-psyched to be active again, and the kind of deal we have with M-Theory lets us maintain control of our music while benefiting from the expertise of Marco’s experience in the industry,” says guitarist Danny White. “It’s the best of both worlds. Mordred is putting the M-Theory into practice.”
In addition to putting the finishing touches on The Dark Parade, Mordred has also entertained audiences throughout 2020 with their streaming variety show and concert series, Mordred: Acting The Fool! where the band collaborates with writer, director, videographer Christian Powell and features live music, interviews, sketch comedy and burlesque performances. The next edition of will stream live on Halloween night, here.
The Halloween broadcast will feature a performance by Mordred and the debut of music from The Dark Parade. The event will also feature guest appearances from guitarist Jude Gold (Jefferson Starship), burlesque performer Miss Kitty Oaks and South American thrashers Desastre Natural, as well as a healthy dose of tomfoolery, shenanigans, skits and shorts to satisfy any desire for the ridiculous and bizarre!
Mordred is:
Scott Holderby - vocals
Danny White - guitar
James Sanguinetti - guitar
Art Liboon - bass
Aaron “DJ Pause” Vaughn - turntables/keyboards
Jeff Gomes - drums

STRYPER Frontman MICHAEL SWEET - "We Were Metalheads Who Became Christians, Not Christians Who Became Metalheads"Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has checked in with the following message:
"Hard to believe that I’ve we’ve been wearing Y&B stripes for 40 years! Yep, we (Roxx Regime) wore Y&B long before Stryper, believe it or not. Once we signed a recording contract we decided to change the name to Stryper. Isaiah 53:5 - 'By HIS Strypes we are healed' became our scripture / motto.
We were metalheads who became Christians, not Christians who became metalheads. That’s what makes us so unique. We weren’t formed in the church. We were formed in the world and we bring a little 'church' to every Stryper show. It can and will change your life.
Why? It’s not just about the music. More importantly, it’s about the message that you that with you. It’s life altering and soul changing. I can’t wait to get back out there to take you to church, Y&B style. Who’s ready? I’ve got to wear these somewhere. Not just to the market."
Michael Sweet is currently promoting his band's new album, Even The Devil Believes, During a recent interview with Steve Harrison of ARfm’s The Unchained Rock Show, Sweet confirmed that he will start work on a new recording project at the beginning of 2021 with Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra and the singer from Inglorious, Nathan James.
During the in-depth interview, which can be heard below, Michael told Steve, "After the first of the New Year, I start a new project with Nathan James and Joel Hoekstra... we are doing like a Whitesnake throwback kind of album and then I’m doing a new Sweet And Lynch album right after that."
Michael went on further to explain how the idea for the project came about, "Well, I’ve become dear friends with Nathan and I love his voice; and I was asked to work with him by Frontiers and it worked out where we are doing something. I’m going to be playing guitar and singing a few songs, a duet with him and I’m co-producing and co-writing and it’s going to be really cool... he is fantastic, I love him, great guy, great heart, great vocalist, he is one of my favourites, I can’t wait to work with him."
Stryper have released a video for "Do Unto Others", a track from their new album, Even The Devil Believes, out now. Watch the clip below.
Once again proving their lasting durability, Stryper returns with their 13th studio album, Even The Devil Believes. Filled with the band’s signature riffs, harmony-laden melodies and positive themes, the 11-track project is Stryper’s first studio album with Perry Richardson (Firehouse) on bass and background vocals.
Stryper is renowned for its distinctive brand of “heavenly metal,” extraordinary crossover success and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like “Calling on You,” “Honestly,” and “Always There for You,” and has maintained a global fanbase ever since. Stryper is the first band to ever have two songs in MTV’s Top 10 simultaneously with their hits “Free” and “Honestly.” To date, the Dove Award-winning and Grammy-nominated band has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

MOTÖRHEAD Launch Virtual Ace Of Spades Online Exhibition; Ace Of Spades 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Unboxed (Video)"We’re pleased to launch a virtual Ace Of Spades online exhibition of exclusive photos and memorabilia from the era," states a message from Motörhead. "All you loyal Motörfans from all over the world are welcome and can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home during these rotten pandemic times!"
Head here.
Upon its release in 1980, the Ace Of Spades album was nothing short of a game changer for all forms of hard rock. Like lightning in a bottle, it perfectly captured everything great about hard rock, heavy metal, and punk, amped it all up to 11, and came racing out of the gates at what felt like a million miles an hour, pushing at every musical boundary. Nothing was harder. Nothing was faster. And certainly nothing was louder.
Now, following on from last year’s fan and media acclaimed anniversary editions of the seminal Overkill and Bomber albums, comes the record that launched Motörhead into the stratosphere and carved their name into the walls of rock ‘n’ roll history forever; Ace Of Spades. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this milestone album, it is being presented in new deluxe editions. There will be hardback book-packs in two CD and triple LP formats, featuring a previously unheard concert from the Ace Up Your Sleeve tour, the story of the album and many previously unseen photos. Also, the album will be released as an ultimate fan, collector edition Ace Of Spades box set, containing a bevy of era-specific treasures and some 42 previously unreleased tracks!

- A limited edition 7" reproduction of the Dutch Ace Of Spades, with a previously unreleased instrumental version on Side B. (while stocks last!)
In 1980, off the back of two essential albums, Overkill and Bomber the previous year, Motörhead continued to get bigger, better, louder and faster by the second. This time, on Ace Of Spades they teamed up with producer Vic Maile and came up with twelve songs; each and every one of which crams a regular band’s ten minutes of playing into an average of three. The song titles alone made ears bleed; “Love Me Like A Reptile”, “Shoot You In The Back”, “The Chase Is Better Than The Catch” and “The Hammer” were a few examples. This landmark album saw the three amigos of Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor at the helm of the juggernaut that was Motörhead, gaining phenomenal growth in popularity as they forged onward. The band’s and fans ideas, wants and inspirations, converged at a perfect tangent. Anyone disputing this fact need look no further than any heavy metal gig of the time and play ‘spot the Motörhead T-shirt and jacket’. They outnumbered anyone else by at least five to one. A statistic that is still accurate some forty five years since they first began!
The Ace Of Spades album release was a magical moment in rock ‘n’ roll history, an album which had enormous global impact and continues to resonate and inspire people worldwide. Fans to this day still remember where they were when they first heard it, and it immediately inspired bands worldwide to absorb the album’s energy, speed, and attitude into their own work. Ace Of Spades is ground zero for thrash, speed metal, and punk / metal crossover.

BLOODY HAMMERS To Release Songs Of Unspeakable Terror Album In January; "A Night To Dismember" Music Video StreamingJust in time for the most macabre season of the year, horror-occult-goth metal/rock fusers, Bloody Hammers, have announced a new horror punk-inspired full-length album. The 11-track offering, entitled Songs Of Unspeakable Terror, will be unleashed on January 15 via Napalm Records and marks a new, eccentric chapter in the Transylvania County, North Carolina-based husband and wife duo’s musical story.
While it doesn’t stray too dangerously far from the sound listeners have grown to infectiously adore, the band’s latest full-length explores yet uncharted territory: retro-ized horror punk in all its gritty glory. This beastly record shouldn’t be confused as an all new direction for the band, though - these songs are a pandemic lockdown labor of love, a temporary foray into the unknown, while still remaining true to the Bloody Hammers sonic trademark.
Get a first listen for yourself, but beware - you’ve never heard Bloody Hammers like this. Today, the band has unveiled an inventive new music video for their first single, “A Night To Dismember” - a dark, swinging, hefty punk two-stepper with an earworm chorus that’ll have fans chanting along in no time.
Frontman/multi-instrumentalist Anders Manga says about the track: "I've had the title, ‘A Night To Dismember’ written down on my to-do list for a long time. The title is based on the 1980’s direct-to-VHS Horror effort by NYC Exploitation movie legend Doris Wishman. When I heard Samantha Fox, who starred in that same movie, had died in April (2020) from a COVID-19 related illness, I just started writing and it’s a bit of a blur from there. It came together quickly. Our take on the title is different but still stands as a tribute to those two legendary ladies of celluloid sleaze."
Bassist Devallia adds about video: "Considering the title of the song, we thought of many different ways to go about making this video. In the end we decided to go more toward the absurd. As Spinal Tap said, there is a fine line between stupid and clever, and we are standing firmly on that line."
Watch the macabre music video for “A Night To Dismember” below.
At the start of 2020, Anders Manga was about to head out on tour for his darkwave side-project when COVID-19 hit. Soon locked in their house under local stay-at-home orders, Manga and his bride and bandmate, Devallia, spent time jamming in their basement and revisiting some of their classic punk favorites. Holed up and barred from the uncertainty of the world, Bloody Hammers conjured 11 new raw-power tracks inspired by that sound, and now they’re unearthed… from the grave!
Anders Manga says about the album: “When the pandemic hit and I realized I’d be stuck at home for a while, I started thinking I needed to dig into a music project. I was oddly inspired by the unknown, and fear that this plague was gonna wipe us all out. I needed a creative escape. We’d just released the Bloody Hammers album, ‘The Summoning’ a few months earlier, so I didn’t think about doing another Hammers album at all. When COVID was really hitting NYC hard, that got me thinking about my favorite bands from that whole NY/NJ area… Misfits, Wendy O. Williams, Ramones, Dead Boys, The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Twisted Sister and such. That’s where I found inspiration to do a horror punk-ish record.
"I sent a few songs to my label, Napalm Records, mentioning that I’d done some horror punk-ish inspired stuff and wanted to release them digitally under some new band name I’d yet to think up. They loved the songs, felt they’d still fit under the Bloody Hammers name, and I figured, ‘Well… cool, I guess our listeners are used to us being a bit genre-fluid by now, so yeah… let’s do it!’
"For me, writing Songs Of Unspeakable Terror was escapism from the real-life horrors of 2020. At no point did I get too serious in subject matter, my goal was to make a party record for the apocalypse and that’s what I think we got.”
Kicking off with first single and album opener “A Night To Dismember”, the album careens the listener down a dark, winding auditory road of melodic punk (in a jet-black classic car, of course). Trudging, metallic terrors like “Hands Of The Ripper” and “Witchfinder General” ensnare the listener, while seductive, unrelentingly heavy tracks such as “Not Of This Earth” will have them screaming for more, and head-bobbers like “The Ones Who Own The Dark” prove this offering isn’t short on melody. Laced with spine-tingling vocal lines, bathed in an occult cocktail of granular guitars and accented by a peppering of vintage Mellotron, each track on Songs Of Unspeakable Terror is a bonafide horror punk pillar.
Fans of Bloody Hammers and heavy music fans new to the band alike will enjoy this unique offering, available in digital, CD jewelcase and multiple vinyl variations.

DEATH DEALER Debut Official Music Video For New Song "Running With The Wolves"Death Dealer, lead by Ross The Boss, has issued a second track, “Running With The Wolves”, as a preview of their forthcoming third record, Conquered Lands, to be released worldwide on November 13 via Steel Cartel. A video for the track can be viewed below:
Death Dealer has an all-star heavy metal roster featuring the aforementioned Ross The Boss (ex-Manowar) Sean Peck (vocals - Cage, The Three Tremors, Denner/Shermann), Stu Marshall (guitar - Dungeon, Night Legion), Steve Bolognese (drums - Ross The Boss Band, Into Eternity), and newly added bass player extraordinaire Mike Lepond (Symphony X, Ross The Boss Band).
Ross: “Conquered Lands has a lot of heavy fast stuff on it but this song really has a rocking vibe and great energy. It is one of my personal favorites on our new record.”
Sean: “It is always a challenge to decide what songs to do videos for when you are promoting a record. I dig the hook on it and it is a fun song about being in Death Dealer. I always like bands that do songs about kicking ass. I was cracking myself up as I wrote the lyrics. It goes back to the KISS days I would say even.”
Stu: “We had a ton of footage from that great tour and the video captures the crazy energy we generate at these shows and how the crowd reacts to the band and our songs. I am really looking forward to playing these new songs of ‘Conquered Lands’ live eventually.”
Pre-order here.
The album was mixed by Stu Marshall, and guitars, drums, and bass were treated at Monolith Studios in Melbourne Australia by Chris Themelco. The album was mastered by Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles, California. Stu Marshall talked about the mixing and mastering partners he engaged.

"Poor Devil":
On Ilsa's new album, Preyer, the Washington, D.C. band embraces sonic pummeling like never before. Recorded as the world shuttered away in 2020, Ilsa harnessed the fears and uncertainties of troubled times, and used these as driving forces for their unnerving metal's raw, chaotic, and whipping intensity. The result is a new full length that delivers overdoses of crushing doom and menacing death metal.
The ghost of the Satanic murderer Sean Sellers still haunts the band. The notorious killer was the first and remains the only person executed in the US for a crime committed under the age of 17 since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976. "These songs were written with his life in mind," the band states. "Sean's story is an exploitative intersection of religious, media and state authority, culminating in his 1999 execution for murders committed in a state of self-described "Demonic Possession."
But make no mistake, Preyer is not simply a narrative or concept album. Remaining true to Ilsa's punk ethos, Preyer serves as a cathartic condemnation of a Christo-fascist society, a corrupt class dimension, and the evil cruelty behind it all. "Preyer is a wringing of these themes for the sweat and stink. Power's destructive force, love and other extremist positions, religious fanaticism, depression & mental illness, social order and control."
In the midst of the darkness that continues to take hold, Ilsa remain observant and pull no punches. With tracks such as "Poor Devil", "Shibboleth", and the album's title track, the band are poised to release one of the year's most vicious offerings from the underground.
Lineup:
Orion - Vocals
Brendan - Guitar
Dylan - Guitar
Tim - Guitar
Sharad - Bass
Joshy - Drums
