On March 28, LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones teamed up with SONIC YOUTH's Thurston Moore and Steve Noble for a one-off concert at the 100 Club in London. The event was a benefit show for Resonance 104.4 FM, a London based non-profit community radio station specializing in the arts run by the London Musicians' Collective.

According to Led Zeppelin News, there was no setlist for the evening. Instead the three men played two improvised works followed by an encore improvisational performance.

John Paul Jones is a restless and radical musical innovator for over half a century — as composer, arranger, and producer across genres ranging from pop to opera to electronica and avant-garde

Moore has been a key figure in alternative music since co-founding the band SONIC YOUTH in 1981. Now based in London, he runs the Ecstatic Peace! record label and library, publishes poetry and records as a solo artist.

Noble is the collaborator of choice of countless free jazz iconoclasts, including Derek Bailey, Joe McPhee and Matthew Shipp.

Jones previously played with Moore and SONIC YOUTH in 2009 as part of a stage show called "Nearly Ninety" to celebrate choreographer Merce Cunningham's 90th birthday. The event took place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music just months before Cunningham's death.

Japan's Anthem have released their re-recorded greatest hits album, Nucleus, in North America via Golden Robot Records, and elsewhere via Nuclear Blast. Watch a live video for "Gypsy Ways", featured on the bonus CD that comes with Nuclear Blast version of Nucleus.

On the eve of the bands 35th Anniversary, their popularity in Japan remains as high as ever and their worldwide fan base continues to grow. Thus the idea of an all English re-record of their biggest hits came to be.

Band leader and bassist Naoto Shibata comments: "Our re-recorded greatest hits album with English lyrics, represents all that this is Anthem’s nucleus. I am honoured from the bottom of my heart that we can present this to our fans. Anthem will keep doing our best to move forward heading for the future as always. I hope you all will enjoy Nucleus.”

Mixing and mastering for Nucleus were done by the legendary Jens Bogren. His works based on elaborate theories and a great store of knowledge helped Anthem achieve their goals on this release. Nucleus is heavy with Jens' fat sound and rich low-end that he has made the worldwide heavy metal standard.

This re-recorded greatest hits, including a variety of their classics is a monumental work, which perfectly shows the musical quality of Anthem and proves that they can be ranked as a global act in the international metal scene.

Anthem guitarist Akio Shimizu states: "Those 13 songs were not easy to re-record at all, however I believe they fully got the sound and the expression of today’s Anthem while being true to the originals at the same time. Please give it to a listen and feel the details of the album with the fresh mixing by Jens Bogren."

Vocalist Yukio Morikawa says of the recordings: "Singing all the songs in English was not easy at all for me, but I hope this album will show the world that Japan has a band like us who loves metal this much. I hope you enjoy Nucleus!"

DEF LEPPARD was finally inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Friday night (March 29) — 14 years after the British rockers first became eligible.

The 34th annual ceremony took place at Brooklyn, New York's Barclays Center and saw DEF LEPPARD inducted by QUEEN's Brian May.

"[Singer] Joe [Elliott] and I, in particular, have shared many precious and fun moments," May recalled. "We have a strong bond and he’s one of my dearest pals. When news got out of [Freddie Mercury's] passing, the first call I got was from Joe Elliott."

DEF LEPPARD members entering the Rock Hall include the current lineup — Elliott, guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell, bassist Rick Savage and drummer Rick Allen — along with founding guitarist Pete Willis and LEPPARD's late guitarist Steve Clark.

The 2019 Rock Hall class also includes Stevie Nicks, THE ZOMBIES, Janet Jackson, THE CURE, RADIOHEAD and ROXY MUSIC.

Elliott delivered an acceptance speech on DEF LEPPARD's behalf, telling the audience: "Those songs we've written over the years were always our main priority. And although there seemed to be a looming sense of tragedy around every corner, we just wouldn't let it in. But it's true, it did seem that every time we made some musical headway, life would knock us back down somewhat. 'Pyromania' is a raging success… then Rick has a life-changing accident. He survived it and came out the other side stronger. 'Hysteria' gave us the global success that we'd always craved… and then we lost Steve. But we survived and came out the other side stronger people. And that's the way it's always played out throughout our career. So let's face facts here, if alcoholism, car crashes and cancer couldn’t kill us, the nineties had no fucking chance."

Elliott also thanked his parents, saying his father loaned the band £150 to make their first very recording back in 1978 while his mother taught him the first guitar chords he ever knew. "I've learned two more since," Elliott then quipped, "and I've come to realize you don't actually really need them at all."

For the performance part of the evening, DEF LEPPARD chose to play four of its biggest hits: "Hysteria", "Rock Of Ages", "Photograph" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me".

The 2019 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame concluded with an all-star performance of David Bowie's "All The Young Dudes", featuring DEF LEPPARD, Ian Hunter, May, Steve Van Zandt, THE BANGLES' Susanna Hoffs and THE ZOMBIES' Rod Argent.

HBO will broadcast a truncated version of the ceremony on Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m. EST.

One of the top-selling rock acts of of all time, DEF LEPPARD had been eligible for the Rock Hall since 2004.

Polish extreme metal veterans, Vader, will release a new EP, titled Thy Messenger, on May 31 via Nuclear Blast. The effort will contain four of the five songs that were recorded over a week-long period in January and February at Hertz Studio in Białystok, Poland under the supervision of the Wiesławski Brothers.

The cover art was painted by Wes Benscoter, who previously worked with Vader on the De Profundis LP and has collaborated with such bands as Slayer, Kreator and Sinister. A new full Vader album will be recorded later this year for a tentative fall release.

All the songs are fast and short, but pretty intense, I guess.  We’ve also added a new version of our classic title track from Litany. It is 20 years since we recorded that album at the Red Studio. 'Litany' - as a song - and many more from that album have never been performed live. This album is still one of the fan favourites in the Vader discography and in 2019 we will resurrect this whole record as part of our live shows this autumn. Another bonus is the absolute classic cover of 'Steeler' which was always one of my all time favorite Priest songs."

Monochromatic harbingers of hell, Belzebubs, have released a new single from their upcoming Century Media album, Pantheon Of The Nightside Gods, due April 26. Accompanied also by a video edit, “Cathedrals Of Mourning” provides a foretaste of the band’s new progressive meloblack sound, that’d make even the Antichrist himself tremble with anticipation. The track features guest performances by Desibelius (keyboards) and Skvllcraft (backing vocals), who also appear on the video.

“We shot the flick on location in an old monastery, snuggly shrouded by the grim Norwegian mountains. Beautiful place with grand views over the fjords and all. A bit of a pity we’re not exactly welcome back, I guess...” lead guitarist Obesyx vaguely comments.

“Cathedrals Of Mourning” was filmed and produced by Pyjama Films, also responsible for the band’s previous music video, “Blackened Call”, which has hit over a million views on YouTube.

German dark metal band, Lacrimas Profundere, have released a video for "Father Of Fate", a track from their upcoming Bleeding The Stars album, out on July 26 via Steamhammer/Oblivion/SPV. Watch the video below, and pre-order the album here.

“This new record is like a new beginning for us” guitarist and band leader Oliver Nikolas Schmid explains. He reclaimed their drummer Dominik Scholz and got Julian Larre on board as a new vocalist. “I cast aside the shackles of the last years, in search of my musical roots, my dream to be a musician, breaking down Lacrimas Profundere to their very essence along the way - for the sake of music. This includes my brother and songwriter Christopher, with whom I started this madness of a band in 1993.”

The album was produced by Kristian ‘Kohle’ Kohlmannslehner, the cover artwork - featuring shades of deep crimson - was again created by Brazilian artist Elton Fernandes. Asked about their telling album title, Oliver says the following: “We read up on the big bang theory a bit. When something huge is created, there is always blood and tears involved somewhere in the process. And voilà: the album’s title was born!”

In Tyler Berglund's home, heavy metal imagery reigns supreme — from the embossed 666 plaques resting above a doorway in the kitchen, to the scores of life-sized Lord of the Rings weapons lining the walls.

This might not be a home where you would initially expect to find people who would sponsor a family of Syrian refugees coming to Canada, fleeing persecution in search of a better life. But that's exactly what Berglund — who owns Hamilton's heavy metal mainstay The Doors Pub — is doing, alongside a group of family and friends.

Most refugee sponsors tend to be older, and part of faith-based institutions. That's a far cry from this group of atheists in their 30s, who are covered in tattoos and live and breathe extreme metal.

"The reaction we get from 100 per cent of the organizations we deal with is, 'Really? You?'" Berglund said. "But I was just moved to contribute because of the luxuries we have in Canada."

Muslim Hamo, for her part, says her sponsor's love of heavy metal never once caused any sort of rift.

"It didn't create any barrier," she said, adding that she never once thought "I don't want this in my life," despite some dark imagery.

"They were open minded about everything," Berglund said.

The sponsorship group really got a kick out of Muslim Hamo liking a Facebook video Berglund once posted of Dimmu Borgir; a symphonic black metal band best known for songs like "Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse" or a cover of Twisted Sister's "Burn In Hell".

With one family getting on its feet, Berglund and his co-sponsors are now preparing to sponsor a second family — a burgeoning tradition they hope can continue for many years.

"I would describe this in two ways," Berglund said. "The first way is it's the most metal thing I've ever done, and then more specifically, to people who aren't in the metal community, I'd say it's the most meaningful thing I've ever done."

MEAT PUPPETS' original lineup, Curt and Cris Kirkwood and returning drummer Derrick Bostrom, has released a video for "Nine Pins" off the band's latest album, "Dusty Notes", available now via Megaforce.

The MEAT PUPPETS' story begins with three kids, enamored of music and immersed in the psychedelic drug culture of Arizona in the '70s, who find their way to punk rock and painstakingly become one of the most important bands of the American underground. "We began to make such a hellacious racket that we knew we were on to something," says returning drummer Derrick Bostrom. The PUPPETS went on to achieve mainstream rock stardom, with a hiatus and resurrection follow.


At their induction into the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall Of Fame in 2017, the original lineup of the MEAT PUPPETS — brothers Cris and Curt Kirkwood and Bostrom — joined together onstage for the first time in over two decades.


Throughout a set that included era-defining songs like "Lake Of Fire", "Plateau" and "Backwater", the chemistry was more than promising, as Bostrom isn't shy to point out. "It was so intense that even I couldn't deny it! I remember why we did this. It was magical." "It was the psychedelic fuckin' time machine," adds Chris. "Mind-blowing."


That rekindling has resulted in "Dusty Notes", the first MEAT PUPPETS studio album to feature the original trio since 1995's "No Joke!"


Since the band debuted in the early '80s, Curt Kirkwood has continually proven himself to be among the most brilliant songwriters of his generation. Time after time, album after album, he's demonstrated an extraordinary ability to draw upon various roots and rock styles en route to a unique new vision of what the MEAT PUPPETS can be. His latest contributions, especially songs such as "Warranty", "On", "Nine Pins", "Outflow" could be forgotten gems from Nashville, Bakersfield and Laurel Canyon.


"Dusty Notes" also features keyboardist Ron Stabinsky, a jazz-trained virtuoso adept at any style, and Curt's son Elmo, whose old-school rock-guitar grit ideally complements his father's spacier explorations. Intuitive, inspired and overflowing with genuine musicianship, it's the sort of band that can transform what Curt describes as "simple yet engaging" songs into maiden voyages each night on the road. "I can ignore my vocal and listen to the other four guys play," Kirkwood laughs. "They're all so good."

The official lyric video for the song "The Promise" from BLACK VEIL BRIDES singer Andy Biersack (a.k.a. Andy Black) can be seen below. The track is taken from his much-anticipated sophomore album, "The Ghost Of Ohio", which will be released on April 12 via Lava/Republic.

"The Ghost Of Ohio" sees Black re-teaming with Grammy-nominated producer John Feldmann (BLINK-182, PANIC! AT THE DISCO), who helmed 2016's acclaimed debut, "The Shadow Side". "Westwood Road" was mixed by Grammy winner Neil Avron (TWENTY ONE PILOTS, THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS). The new album is semi-autobiographical, mining the haunted history of Black's hometown to tell a story that explores his childhood anxieties and obsessions.

Black, who's always had a reverence for the magical convergence of sight and sound, created the diverse album to also serve as a soundtrack for its graphic novel counterpart, marrying melancholy themes with upbeat rock and pop to tell the tale of someone who died young and whose spirit inhabits an area for a hundred years looking for ways to connect. The album's artwork was painted by Eliran Kantor (ICED EARTH, TESTAMENT).

Black will support the album with "The Ghost Of North America" tour, a headlining run that will kick off April 7 at Ace of Spades in Sacramento, California.

Black, born Andy Biersack, left Cincinnati for Hollywood at age 18. He lived out of his car, broke, and as Rolling Stone once put it, "subsisting on visions of what would become his wildly successful glam-metal outfit, BLACK VEIL BRIDES." By his early 20s, he led BLACK VEIL BRIDES on extensive world tours, released a string of Billboard Top 10 and 20 albums and was splashed across the covers and pages of magazines ranging from AP to Italian Vogue.

On the "The Shadow Side", Biersack stretched his creative wings beyond the blueprint of the vintage-Sunset-Strip-meets-modern-hard-rock-vibe of BLACK VEIL BRIDES. "That album was the beginning of a return to who I've always wanted to be," he says. "A rediscovering of my deepest roots."

Seven Thorns, the finest heavy/power metal band ever to come out of Denmark, are releasing the "Symphony Of Shadows" video exclusively through BraveWords! The single comes from their album Symphony Of Shadows; released December 14th through Mighty Music.

Bassist Mads comments:

"The fear of, and the fascination with, destruction reside simultaneously in most of us. The vampire myth gives a face to the thrill of stepping close to the edge, of losing control and of our secret wish that our end will turn out a new beginning. Seven Thorns, begins a new chapter, with the release of their third album Symphony Of Shadows. Spicing up their sound with heavier, darker influences like Symphony X and Adagio, they still remember their roots in neo-classical and classic power metal in the vein of Helloween and Stratovarius. The result is strong, catchy melodies, high-end technical musicianship and a massive, dark and rich sound, and the nine tracks will leave the listener gasping for air yet yearning for more.

To enhance the darkness and heaviness of the album, Seven Thorns worked with famed producer Tue Madsen. He turned out to be the perfect partner to make the vision come alive, making sure that every detail in the complex soundscapes stand out clearly, still creating a wall of sound full of pummeling bass drums, heavy guitars and soaring solos that will satisfy even the most demanding shred-fetishist.

Centered on the virtuoso talents of guitarist and main composer Gabriel Tuxen, keyboard player Asger Nielsen, and with the charismatic voice and persona Björn Asking handling the vocals, the ambitious melodies and songs easily come alive. The low end is kept tight and heavy by bassist Mads Molbaek and everything is paced forward hard and fast by drummer and band mastermind Lars Borup.

Mysterium Tremendum is the new full-length from Portland progressive sludge metal merchants Lord Dying. Captured at Los Angeles' West Valley Recording Studios in August of 2018 with producer Mike Plotnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Pantera), and swathed in the striking planetary landscape-inspired cover art of Steve R. Dodd, the band's first full-length in four years is a monolithic, riff-heavy concept album boasting eleven heaving tracks that explore the many facets of dying and what may or may not exist in the afterlife.

In advance of the record's release, Lord Dying is streaming the second single, "Freed From The Pressures Of Time". Guitarist / vocalist Erik Olson commented on the brooding tune, "This track is pretty experimental and progressive for us; we're very psyched with how it turned out. The song itself is a derivative of a dream that The Dreamer / protagonist of the album is having, longing for death; A paradox for an immortal entity."

An emotionally satisfying record, lyrically and musically Mysterium Tremendum's exploration of death goes beyond the mere longing for it in order to see what lies beyond ("Lacerated Psyche" is about the death of guitarist Chris Evans' sister). There are many layers to it - you might even find parallels between the record's concept and life itself. It's a journey. And in their quest to pursue death, Lord Dying has themselves found new life.

"We set out to write a record about life, and it ended up being about death," says Lord Dying guitarist / vocalist Erik Olson about the band's third studio album Mysterium Tremendum. "While the new record centers around death, it focuses more on what awaits us on the other side while also exploring our culture's fear of dying, and the struggles with our own mortality. The ideas for the concept have been kicking around for some time, but it's fitting that they're only now coming to fruition."

At the core of these Portland, Oregon, heavy metal titans is Olson and guitarist Chris Evans, who've been making music together since fifth grade. They formed Lord Dying before they had a name or a record when another Portland powerhouse Red Fang beckoned them to open some shows for them in 2010. Two records and countless live performances - including tours with Voivod and Crowbar - followed.

Mysterium Tremendum is the record Olson and Evans have wanted to make since the band's inception. It's easily Lord Dying's most musically diverse album, but one that could only be made following the band's jackhammer 2013 debut Summon The Faithless, and 2015's brooding Poisoned Altars. "It's more along the lines of what we wanted to do early on," says Evans.

Lord Dying was already beginning to expand its musical palette - including moodier interludes and Olson's expanded vocal range - but Olson says once the decision was made to make a concept record, he and Evans pushed themselves to match the themes musically and vocally. You'll hear it in songs like "The End Of Experience" and the floating "Severed Forever," which sees Olson melodically doubling his vocals before returning to his trademark growl. Shorter interludes like "Tearing The Fabric Of Consciousness" and "Even The Darkness Went Away" are stunning and fragile, like nothing the band has ever done.

Olson and Evans worked tirelessly on the songs together over the course of a year-and-a-half, using programmed drum parts, and sending ideas back and forth. As Olson puts it, "It was the first time we were really able to put things under a microscope." The songs were all but ready by the time they headed to Los Angeles' West Valley Recording Studios in August of 2018 with engineer Mike Plotnikoff. L.A.-based bassist Matt Price and drummer Chase Manhattan jumped right in to bring these songs of death to life, and the results are huge and seamless.

Guitarist Michael Ciravolo assembled an all-star cast for his moody, hard-hitting 2018 album Finding Beauty In Chaos, reports Hank Shteamer of Rolling Stone.

Ministry’s Al Jourgensen, Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander, Van Halen’s Michael Anthony and many others contributed to the LP, released under the project name Beauty In Chaos. Now, Ciravolo —  also serves as President of Schecter Guitar Research — and producer Michael Rozon are prepping Beauty Re-Envisioned, a companion release featuring remixes and alternate versions of the album’s tracks.

Now, they’ve unveiled a video for “Un-Natural Disaster (Collide Mix),” a remix of an intense Finding Beauty In Chaos track that features contributions from Ice-T, King’s X’s Dug Pinnick and Offspring drummer Pete Parada. Starting out with a heavy guitar riiff from Ciravolo, the original version centers on Pinnick’s account of the damage wrought by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Harvey. The King’s X frontman’s poignant vocals and booming bass add gravity to the track, which culminates in his howls of “I can’t believe city’s underwater” on the song’s chorus.

The song’s new remix, by producer Statik, one half of the long-running L.A. duo Collide, adds sleek electronic drums, and augments the vocals and guitars with tastefully glitchy effects. A new guitar solo by Zakk Wylde — full of dramatic string bends and speedy, head-spinning shred — replaces Ciravolo’s squalling lead on the original.

L.A. GUNS frontman Phil Lewis has defended GRETA VAN FLEET over accusations that the Michigan rockers have ripped off LED ZEPPELIN.

Despite the fact that GRETA VAN FLEET has managed to sell out shows all over the world, the four-piece has been criticized for channeling a sound uncannily similar to LED ZEPPELIN, with some music fans slamming singer Josh Kiszka for allegedly copy-and-pasting Robert Plant's vocal style.

During a recent interview with Legendary Rock Interviews, Lewis was asked if there are any new bands out there that he is listening to now. "I like GRETA VAN FLEET," Phil responded. "I know they get a lot of shit from people. [They are a] good band. Anything that inspires a 12- or 13-year-old to pick up a guitar or learn to play bass or drums is okay with me. That's exactly what they're doing, so right now they're my favorite. [I have] great hope that they might be the ones to change everything, get kids off their phone, wanting to be DJs and wanting to do real rock instead. There's nothing sexier, nothing cooler than a guy who can pick up a guitar and sing a song, or a bunch of guys in a band.

Lewis continued: "Look at this MÖTLEY CRÜE movie ['The Dirt'] — it's gangbusters. People are going crazy. This doesn't exist anymore and bands like GRETA VAN FLEET are making an effort. I notice that. I think it's great, and I wish them all the best in the world."

GRETA VAN FLEET's debut album, "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army", landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in July despite earning a lukewarm 53/100 score on review curation site Metacritic.

In December, GRETA VAN FLEET scored four Grammy Award nominations, one for each major rock category — "Best Rock Album", "Best Rock Song", "Best Rock Performance" — and a "Best New Artist" nod. They went on to win for "Best Rock Album" for their sophomore EP, "From The Fires".

L.A. GUNS' new album, "The Devil You Know", will be released on March 29 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Gore metal maniacs, Exhumed, are currently in the studio recording their seventh full-length and follow-up to 2016's Death Revenge. The as-yet-untitled album is being recorded at the band's home-built studio Darker Corners, a first in Exhumed's legendary career.

The album, which marks the debut of new guitarist Sebastian Phillips (Noisem), is being produced by the band and Alejandro Corredor (Brujeria, Nausea) and will be mixed and mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust). The record is expected to see release later this year. Stay tuned for more information in the months to come.

Comments frontman Matt Harvey, "This album has been a challenge in a whole new way; part construction project, part trial-and-error crash-course, and part deathgrinding madness. The deathgrinding part has been going really well, and we're really focusing on bringing out the aggression of these tunes. The goal is to leave no face un-melted."

Vulture is a heavy metal force to be reckoned with! The German spike-and-leather quintet recently finished recording their second long-player, Ghastly Waves & Battered Graves, for a June 7th release via Metal Blade Records.

To raise the anticipation towards the album the band will release a 7" on April 5th entitled “Beyond The Blade”. Side A features the title track while the B-side will feature the Thin Lizzy cover “Killer On The Loose”, on vinyl available only on this 7". A music video for "Beyond The Blade" can be found below.

I’d see the crowd go nuts when they hit "Working For The Weekend", so that’s the vibe Mike and I tried to recreate with "Without A Bullet Being Fired", say Peterik. He continues, "I am still pinching myself that i am now writing songs with Dennis DeYoung for his new album. "Proof of Heaven", included on this album, is one of my proudest moments. Same inspiration was behind the title track "Winds Of Change" with Don Barnes and Danny Chauncey (.38 Special). Kelly Keagy and Kevin Chalfant and i had a blast capturing the energy of Night Ranger and The Storm’s hits with "I Will What I Want" and "Sometimes You Just Want More". respectively. And of course "Just For You" with the great Kevin Cronin is a very special moment for me. When I watched Danny Vaughn perform at Frontiers Festival a few years back, I immediately started planning to make him a part of World Stage. "The Hand I Was Dealt" is the result, which we co-wrote. "Home Fires" with the incredible Toby Hitchcock is a song I think any fan of Pride Of Lions will take to heart. And I have created new friendships with Work Of Art and Jason Scheff because of this record."

"I am a rabid fan of every artist on the album and it was such a thrill to try and bring out their best essence, but for me the most touching moment of this record is reviving an amazing lost track by the late great Jimi Jamison. As I mixed the new version, it was again like having Jimi in the studio with me as his stunning voice came through the monitors. There was not a dry eye in the room. With "Love You All Over The World", his spirit is still with us all," adds Peterik.

In conclusion, Peterik says, "World Stage, which I created soon after I parted ways with Survivor back in 1996, was my way of bringing together the melodic rock community. Setting aside any competition between us to create great melodic rock for the audience that craves it. Since then, every World Stage show has been a total love fest with each show featuring an ever changing array of great artists.”

Winds Of Change certainly carries on that tradition and shows are in the planning stages that will reflect the lineup of this record.

Jim Peterik, through the years, has written or co-written some of rock's most memorable songs: "Vehicle" by the The Ides Of March (on which he was lead vocalist), "Eye Of The Tiger," "The Search Is Over," "High On You," and "I Can't Hold Back”, hits for .38 Special such as "Hold On Loosely," "Caught Up In You," "Fantasy Girl," and "Rockin' Into The Night", "Heavy Metal" with Sammy Hagar, and many many more. Peterik, now a part of Pride of Lions with vocalist Toby Hitchcock, is one of the most esteemed and loved recording artists and songwriters, not only on the Frontiers label, but in the larger melodic rock community.

The official music video for "Spirits Will Collide", a brand new song from the Canadian heavy music artist Devin Townsend, can be seen below. The track is taken from his latest album, "Empath", which is being released today (Friday, March 29) via InsideOut Music.

Over the past few years, the success that Devin has slowly worked for has fortunately come with the power to control his own creative destiny. The recent successes with the DVD from a sold-out Royal Albert hall, or his 2012 "Retinal Circus", or last year's "Ocean Machine" live DVD with the Orchestra And Choir Of State Opera Plovdiv has put him in a position where with the new album "Empath", he will once and for all define himself as a musical force outside of any particular genre classification.


On this album, Devin has decided to see what would happen if all the styles that make up his current interests were finally represented in one place. To finally shake the fear of expectation, and just do what it is he was meant to do creatively, "Empath", true to the name, is about allowing the audience a feeling for a variety of musical emotions. The musical dynamics represented on this single album are broad, challenging, and immense. To approach this sort of work with a long history of what makes heavy music "heavy," allows this to be done with a type of power rarely heard.

German bashers M.I.GOD. are streaming the song "We All Belong To The Dark", taken from their new concept album, Specters On Parade, out now through Fastball Music Check it out below.

Specters On Parade was released in February 2019 and is the first of two concept albums from M.I.GOD. It features 21 tracks in total, 13 being full songs connected with short interludes to tie the concept together. Specters On Parade in the follow-up to M.I.GOD.'s 2012 album, Floor 29, marking an epic return following the tragic death of bassist Matt Weber that sidelined the band.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was interviewed on the latest episode of the GUNS N' ROSES-centric "Appetite for Distortion" podcast. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.

Asked if he embraces being called a "guitar god" or "heavy metal god" by some people, Mustaine — who is taking part in this year's "Experience Hendrix" tour — said: "I don't fancy being called a god. That makes me uncomfortable, 'cause I'm just a guy. But I love my job, and I take pride at being good at it. But I also know that there's guys that are so much better than me… Zakk [Wylde], for example — Zakk's an amazing guitar player. But then, who else is there [on the 'Experience Hendrix' tour]? Eric Johnson — one of my personal favorites. And Joe Satriani, one of the best in the world. And Dweezil Zappa, who is probably, to me, the biggest surprise — a great guitar player and a sweetheart of a guy. He's been helping me with my sound. I went to the show the other day, and Dweezil is working on my amp and Eric Johnson is playing my guitar, and I'm thinking, 'Man, I died and went to heaven. Look at this.'"

Mustaine was also asked if it is true that GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash once tried out for MEGADETH. Dave responded: "Yes, we're most definitely friends. [But] he didn't try out [for MEGADETH]. But he had an invitation. He and [MEGADETH bassist] David Ellefson had played together several times, so that was fun. And he liked playing with Dave, and he liked the idea of playing with me, and I thought it was a great idea too. That's probably where we became such great friends. Although we don't see each other a lot, whenever we see each other, it's [like], 'Hey, what's up, man?' And there's, I think, a deep, deep, deep mutual respect for each other."

The 2019 edition of the "Experience Hendrix" tour, a celebration of Jimi Hendrix's legacy and musical genius, kicked off in Pompano Beach, Florida on March 3 and will run through April 6 when it finishes in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Along with Mustaine, Satriani, Wylde, Zappa and Johnson, Jonny Lang is performing with the all-star tribute led by Jimi's BAND OF GYPSYS bandmate Billy Cox.

Since its inception as a single tribute show at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2000, "Experience Hendrix" has become an anticipated fan experience.
