EVERGREY Reveal Piano Vocal Version Of "Call Out The Dark"; Visualizer Streaming

EVERGREY Reveal Piano Vocal Version Of "Call Out The Dark"; Visualizer Streaming

Swedish metal veterans, Evergrey, reset their #1 Spotify track, “Call Out The Dark” (over 1 million streams on Spotify), in an emotional piano/vocal version, recorded at Evergrey HQ. The new single is cut from the band’s upcoming anniversary album, From Dark Discoveries To Heartless Portraits, a celebration of 30 years of Gothenburg’s finest export of darkness, set for release this Friday, December 15.

The original version of “Call Out The Dark” was released on Evergrey’s highly acclaimed 2022 opus, A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), which entered charts worldwide at #3 in Sweden (Metal), #7 in Finland, #12 in Germany and ranked #5 on the Top New Artist Albums charts in the United States. The new, beautifully stripped-down version of the song comes with a fitting visualizer video.

Jonas Ekdahl states: ”I love how Tom and Rikard manage to take these songs and transform them into something unique and different than its original form and sound. If you manage to remove all the production elements within a song and strip everything down to its essence, and still feel that it holds up and sounds good – you know it’s a good song! That’s exactly what they have done with these Piano/Vocal versions in my opinion. This version of ’Call Out The Dark’ delivers slightly darker vibe and the lyrics stand out and reach you even more than on the original version.”

Watch the visualizer below:

From Dark Discoveries To Heartless Portraits will be available in various formats - for example, an extremely limited 112 page hardcover book and 1CD digisleeve bundle (incl. rare photos and imagery, behind the scenes stories and exclusive liner notes from the members). It wraps up three decades of Evergrey’s journey, carries some very special treats along with it, and cements their position as one of the most genre-defining bands of our time. From Dark Discoveries To Heartless Portraits unites Evergrey’s past and present and paves the way for their next chapter - and an even brighter future to come!

In addition to live versions of recent tracks like “Call Out The Dark” and “Where August Mourns”, the record travels down memory lane with “My Allied Ocean”, “A Touch Of Blessing”, “Recreation Day” and “King Of Errors”. The second half of the offering contains soulful piano vocal versions of four songs from the latest full-length (“Save Us”, “Call Out The Dark”, “Blindfolded” and “Midwinter Calls”), and demo versions of the same tracks, topped by a instrumental version of “A Silent Arc”.

From Dark Discoveries To Heartless Portraits will be available in the following formats:

- Hardcover book + 1CD Digisleeve Bundle (incl. rare photos and imagery, behind the scenes stories & exclusive liner notes from the members) – ltd. to 150 copies worldwide
- 2LP Gold Vinyl – ltd. to 300 copies worldwide
- 2LP Black Vinyl
- 1CD Digisleeve
- Digital Album

Since their very first record, 1998’s The Dark Discovery, the Swedish entity around founder, singer and guitarist Tom S. Englund - one of the most distinctive vocals in metal - has enthralled fans and critics alike with their matchless skill in merging progressive heaviness with intense melodic metal topped by gripping lyrics that run shivers down one’s spine. To date, the band has gathered numerous worldwide chart positions with thirteen studio albums in total, and in 2022, the five-piece proved again - even after 30 years of existence - that their creativity sees no bounds with the release of the flawless A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament).

Finnish Death Metallers GATES OPEN To Release Debut Album In February 2024; "GATES OPEN" Single / Lyric Video Streaming

The Finnish death/thrash metal band Gates Open is set to release their debut album, Voice After Silence, on February 9th, 2024 via Inverse Records. The new single, named after the band, 'Gates Open', is released today and lyric video is available below.

The single is available here.

The band comments: "Today we live in a world where the majority of people only pursue their own interests, without caring about others and the environment. Mankind is blinded by its own greed. In the end, most people are willing to betray another person if the benefit to themselves is great enough. We dance with our own demons. We are consumed by our own sins.

Fear, doubt and sins both gnaw the soul deep inside. The world is a stage, but at the end of the day we are just pawns in this big picture. But, you yourself choose your path."

ROGER GLOVER On DEEP PURPLE's Longevity: 'It's All About The Music'

ROGER GLOVER On DEEP PURPLE's Longevity: 'It's All About The Music'

In a new interview with Outlook India, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover spoke about the band's longevity. He said: "We've actually stuck to our original intention of concentrating on the music. It's all about the music. Along the way, the digital world has invaded us, but we still record in exactly the same manner, and we still write in exactly the same manner. So that's who we are. Take it or leave it."

Glover also said that DEEP PURPLE's musical focus has always been on creating something fresh and not trying to recapture any of the band's classic offerings.

"One of the rules of life is you can never go back," he said. "Everything has its time. And the music that was made in the '50s had its time. It can't be recreated. You can do parodies of it. But everything has to move forward. Everything has to change. Even as you drag the past with you, because the influences are always there, it's always going to be a new thing. You can't recreate it."

Last year, DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Don Airey told Rolling Stone magazine that there is no concrete plan for him and his bandmates to stop playing live shows.

"We started the farewell tour in 2017. It was due to end in 2019," he noted. "But the thing is, when you're a musician in a band, you think you're in control of it, but you're not. The business is running you.

"Of course, there was so much demand for the band to continue from the promoters and agents that we said, 'Okay, we'll do one more year.'"

Regarding when he thinks DEEP PURPLE will finally call it quits, Don said: "The words of T.S. Eliot [the greatest English-language poet of his generation] come to mind: 'This is the way the band ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.' I think we won't know it's the last gig. We won't have a clue that this one is going to be the last one. That's how it's going to end. It's going to be no big scenario.

"I like what Buddy Guy said. He said, 'Musicians don't retire. They drop.' You do have thoughts about being in the garden and bouncing the grandchildren on your knee, but it's part of your blood system, playing and touring. It's an addiction. I hope I keep playing for a while yet."

In a separate interview with Brazil's A Rádio Rock, Glover spoke about PURPLE's plans for the coming months. He said: "Well, we've just undergone a big change, because our guitarist Steve Morse had to retire from the band because he was looking after his very ill wife. And so we have a new guitarist in the band called Simon McBride. And it's a whole experience; I mean, it's a different band."

He continued: "In a way, we have to embrace change. You can't do the same thing over and over again, and we've had several changes, of course, over the years. And this one is particularly exciting. 'Cause we've been working on a new album; we should have a new album out by next year. And we can't stop writing. That's what we do."

In July 2022, Morse officially left PURPLE to care for his wife, Janine, who is battling cancer.

Morse's announcement came four months after the guitarist said that he would be taking a hiatus from the band, in the hope of rejoining his bandmates once his wife's health improved. He was then replaced on the road by McBride.

Morse effectively took over Ritchie Blackmore's DEEP PURPLE slot in 1994 and had since been in the group longer than Ritchie.

McBride, who is guitar player, singer, songwriter and a band leader all in one, hails from Belfast in Northern Ireland — a place that resonates of the best music traditions like Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher, as well as bands such as THIN LIZZY, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS and obviously U2. His biography tells many stories — from his band touring with no sound engineer, driver, or roadie, playing 30 shows in 35 days, to him regularly sharing stages with PURPLE singer Ian Gillan and Airey.

DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Turning To Crime", came out in November 2021 via earMUSIC. The LP contains DEEP PURPLE's versions of great rock classics and musical jewels — including songs originally recorded by Bob Dylan, FLEETWOOD MAC, Bob Seger, CREAM and THE YARDBIRDS — carefully chosen by each member of the band.

KID ROCK Is No Longer Boycotting BUD LIGHT: 'They Made A Mistake' And 'I Think They Got The Message'

KID ROCK Is No Longer Boycotting BUD LIGHT: 'They Made A Mistake' And 'I Think They Got The Message'

Kid Rock says that he is no longer boycotting Anheuser-Busch over the company's flagship brand Bud Light teaming up trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney to promote the brand's Easy Carry Contest.

The 52-year-old rocker, who made headlines in April for using an assault rifle to destroy multiple cases of Bud Light beer in response to Mulvaney's social media posts, told Tucker Carlson in a new interview: "At the end of the day, when you step back and look at it, like, yeah, they deserved a black eye and they got one. They made a mistake. So, do I want to hold their head under water and drown them because they made a mistake? No, I think they got the message."

He added: "Hopefully other companies get it too, but at the end of the day, I don’t think the punishment that they've been getting at this point fits the crime. I would like to see us back on board and become bigger because that's the America that I want to live in."

Rock concluded: "There's nothing wrong with giving a spanking. You don't spank them for the rest of their life."

Last month, Kid Rock claimed that he confronted Anheuser-Busch's CEO Brendan Ball Whitworth during his appearance alongside former U.S. president Donald Trump at UFC 295. The singer told Sean Hannity on his Fox News show: "[I] actually had a great conversation [with Whitworth]. I told him, 'You signaled to a lot of people like myself … by sending that can to the trans kid, you kind of signaled to us that you support that lifestyle, and more importantly, men being in women's sports or in my granddaughter's locker room. Most of us draw a hard line right there.'"

Rock went on to claim that he never called on fans to "boycott or cancel" the brand in the wake of their work with Mulvaney. "I said eff you. What are you doing, injecting yourself into this conversation, these polarizing social issues?" he asked. "You could be doing so much more positive stuff just making us laugh and drink beer."

He added that "didn't want to be in the party of cancel cultures and boycotts that ultimately hurt working-class people."

"I know people that work there and it's not so cool to be wearing around that blue shirt anymore, going places," Rock told Hannity. "This is why they have a problem right now, it's like, I can let the thing go."

The outspoken musician, who is an avid Trump supporter, also claimed that he could "co-exist in public spaces" with transgender and gay people, before addressing both communities directly. "Be yourself. If you're cool with me, I'm cool with you — that's how most people are," he said. "But as soon as you bring our kids into this, that's where you're gonna bring hatred into it. Leave our freaking kids out of it. That's the bottom line."

Describing himself as a "conservative" and a "patriot," Kid Rock — whose real name is Bob Ritchie — added that he had given the issue a lot of thought since making the aforementioned video last spring.

"As a God-fearing man, as a Christian, I have to believe in forgiveness," he said. "They made a mistake, all right. What do you want, hold their head under water and drown them and kill people's jobs? I don't want to do that. But I hope — at the same time, I don't want to be their biggest cheerleader. I want them to show me something to get me back as a consumer, as a drinker."

Kid Rock went viral on social media eight months ago when he posted a video of himself taking an AR-15 shotgun and destroying what looked like four 12-packs of Bud Light.

"Fuck Bud Light, and fuck Anheuser-Busch," he said in the clip.

Just two days prior, Mulvaney shared images on her social media touting Bud Light, stirring up outrage among conservatives.

This past August, Kid Rock was ridiculed on social media when he was spotted by the gossip news site TMZ sipping from a can of Bud Light at a Colt Ford concert in Nashville.

The public backlash over Bud Light's partnership with Mulvaney hurt sales of the popular beer, with Anheuser-Busch InBev suffering a steep decline in revenue and profit in the U.S. over three months ending in June. The company's U.S. sales fell by more than 10% over the three months compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch's core profit in the U.S. fell by more than 28%.

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Offers Season's Greetings In New Video

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Offers Season's Greetings In New Video

Whitesnake leader, David Coverdale, has released the new video below, offering season's greetings on behalf of the band.

Coverdale is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his Deep Purple debut this year with a special version of The Purple Album, Whitesnake’s tribute to his three-year tenure with the legendary group. Check out "Lady Double Dealer" (Official Video 2023 Remix) below:

The Purple Album: Special Gold Edition is out now as a 2-CD/Blu-ray set and a 2-LP set on resplendent gold vinyl. Order both versions here.

Coverdale recorded The Purple Album with guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Michael Devin, guitarist Joel Hoekstra (on his first Whitesnake album), and drummer Tommy Aldridge, reappearing on a Whitesnake studio album for the first time since 1989’s Slip Of The Tongue. The band cherry-picked gems from Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste The Band (1975), delivering inspired takes on fan favorites like “Lay Down Stay Down,” “Lady Double Dealer,” and “You Keep On Moving.”

The 2-CD/Blu-ray version of The Purple Album: Special Gold Edition goes beyond the original with the addition of live recordings and concert videos from The Purple Tour (“The Gypsy,” “Mistreated”), official music videos (“Sail Away,” “You Fool No One”), and an assortment of previously unreleased material, including six alternate mixes of album tracks. The Blu-ray also offers a behind-the-scenes look at the album’s making and a song-by-song commentary by Coverdale.

An exciting addition to the upcoming collection is the four-song demo Coverdale submitted to Deep Purple, hoping to become the band’s next singer. Recorded in 1972 with his former band, The Fabulosa Brothers, the reel-to-reel tape was extensively restored after Coverdale stumbled upon it among his late mother’s belongings. In the album’s liner notes, Coverdale says: “I had no idea my Mam had the tape…For me, to open my Mam’s trunk of personal items, 30 years after her passing, was a gift from Heaven.” The collection also features several demos Coverdale recorded while working on songs for Deep Purple’s 1974 album Stormbringer.

SAMAEL To Release Passage - Live Album In February; "Jupiterian Vibe" Live Video Streaming

SAMAEL To Release Passage - Live Album In February; "Jupiterian Vibe" Live Video Streaming

Switzerland’s legendary industrial black metal force, Samael, will unleash their live album, Passage - Live, on February 16 via Napalm Records. Recorded during a sold-out concert in Krakow on the last day of the European leg of the "Passage 25th Anniversary Tour", Passage - Live offers a fresh take on the highly influential original album released in 1996. Played live in its entirety, the album gets a makeover on the new live recording, with a raw and boisterous sound.

Samael creates energetic and rousing nuances to get lost in, and with their live video for “Jupiterian Vibe” below, recorded during their shows in Lyon (FR), Essen (DE) and Erfurt (DE), they have captured the unforgettable power of their live performances on record. Watch the live video and get caught by their impressive intense atmosphere.

Vorph on “Jupiterian Vibe”: "‘Jupiterian Vibe Live’ is the first single from the forthcoming album Passage - Live, the song features a mix of heavy guitar riffs with a pachydermic rhythm. The tribal sound of percussion, coupled with industrial samples lay the foundations for the song.”

Watch the live vdeo for “Jupiterian Vibe” below.

The songs of Passage - Live remain the same, but captured in the urgency of a live environment, they appear rawer and heavier than they were originally, and the maturation of a quarter-century makes them more immediate. Passage - Live is the first official recording with the band’s current line-up, and as Drop and Ales both were fans of the album before joining the band, they add new vigor and energy to the music.

Passage - Live is a testament to an album that left its mark on a generation of metal fans, as Samael moved towards a more industrial sound, distancing themselves from their roots in black metal, and simultaneously breaking the band into a wider international audience. Passage has stood the test of time, remaining as fresh today as it was nearly three decades ago, and with Passage - Live, Samael adds new depth to one of the most important albums in the band’s history.

Vorph says about Passage - Live: "The blend of metal, industrial and electronica that has been our trademark for almost three decades began with Passage. It's almost ground zero for us, and we're delighted to offer these songs a fresh approach and bring this album to life for our long-standing audience as well as those who have discovered the band recently.”

Passage - Live will be available in the following formats:

- 1LP Gatefold Marbled Red/White & 20 Page Booklet (Napalm mail order only, limited to 300)

Watch: BRUCE DICKINSON Sings IRON MAIDEN Classics At Cocktail Launch Party For Mexican Business Conference

Watch: BRUCE DICKINSON Sings IRON MAIDEN Classics At Cocktail Launch Party For Mexican Business Conference

IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson was one of the featured speakers at this year's edition of Foro GO, a conference event for small and medium-sized businesses looking to grow their international presence, on October 18-19 at the Poliforum in in Léon, Guanajuato, Mexico.

On October 17, one day before the start of the conference, Bruce joined a band called LA REVOLUCIÓN DEL ROCK on stage at a cocktail launch party for the event to perform two classic songs from IRON MAIDEN: "The Trooper" and "Fear Of The Dark". Video of the entire performance can now be seen below.

Dickinson's new solo album, "The Mandrake Project", will be released on March 1 via BMG. Across ten inventive, expansive and absorbing tracks, Dickinson and his long-term co-writer and producer Roy "Z" Ramirez, have created one of 2024's defining rock albums. Sonically heavy and rich in musical textures, it sees Bruce bring to life a musical vision long-in-the-making, and features some of the finest vocal performances of his career.

Recorded largely at Los Angeles's Doom Room with Roy Z doubling up as both guitarist and bassist, the lineup for "The Mandrake Project" was rounded out by keyboard maestro Mistheria and drummer Dave Moreno, both of whom also featured on Bruce's last solo studio album, "Tyranny Of Souls", in 2005.

"The Mandrake Project" is not just an album, but a dark, adult story of power, abuse and a struggle for identity, set against the backdrop of scientific and occult genius. Created by Bruce Dickinson, the comic series is scripted by Tony Lee and stunningly illustrated by Staz Johnson for Z2 Comics, released as 12 quarterly issues that will be collected into three annual graphic novels. The first episode will be released in comic shops on January 17, 2024.

Bruce Dickinson and his phenomenal band will bring the music of "The Mandrake Project" to life with a major headline tour next spring and summer.

Bruce Dickinson's touring band features guitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bass player Tanya O'Callaghan and keyboard maestro Mistheria.

"The Mandrake Project" will be Dickinson's seventh solo album and his first since "Tyranny Of Souls" in 2005. It will be released via BMG worldwide on multiple formats.

Dickinson made his recording debut with IRON MAIDEN on the "Number Of The Beast" album in 1982. He quit the band in 1993 in order to pursue his solo career and was replaced by Blaze Bayley, who had previously been the lead singer of the metal band WOLFSBANE. After releasing two traditional metal albums with former MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith, Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999 along with Smith. Since then, Dickinson has only released one more solo album (the aforementioned "Tyranny Of Souls") but has previously said that his solo career is not over.

MICK MARS Shares Second Solo Single 'Right Side Of Wrong'

MICK MARS Shares Second Solo Single 'Right Side Of Wrong'

MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars has released "Right Side Of Wrong", the second single from his upcoming solo album, "The Other Side Of Mars". Lyrically, "Right Side Of Wrong" explores the oxymoron of two individual minds viewing their position as the right one, while in reality it is simply personal perspective — a present theme in interpersonal relationships we all navigate and more broadly the catalyst of many conflicts on a global societal basis. You can watch the song's accompanying music video below.

"The Other Side Of Mars" will be released on February 23, 2024. The effort will be made available via Mick's own label 1313, LLC, in partnership with MRI.

Birmingham, Alabama rocker Jacob Bunton collaborated extensively with Mars on "The Other Side Of Mars".

Bunton had previously worked with former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler and CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer, and has songwriting credits with Mariah Carey, Steven Tyler and Smokey Robinson, among others.

Bunton sings lead on all but two of the 12 songs on "The Other Side Of Mars".

Other guests on the LP include WINGER/ALICE COOPER keyboardist Paul Taylor, KORN drummer Ray Luzier, and Brion Gamboa, who handled lead vocals on the songs "Undone" and "Killing Breed".

Bunton previously fronted the Alabama bands MARS ELECTRIC and LYNAM.

"The Other Side of Mars" track listing:

01. Loyal To The Lie
02. Broken On The Inside
03. Alone
04. Killing Breed
05. Memories
06. Right Side Of Wrong
07. Ready To Roll
08. Undone
09. Ain't Going Back
10. LA Noir

In a recent interview with Chris Akin Presents, Mars was asked if he intentionally tried to incorporate fresh elements into the sound of "The Other Side Of Mars" that he didn't pursue during his four-decade career with MÖTLEY CRÜE. He responded: "You're exactly right. You hit the nail on the head when you said it was way different from MÖTLEY, which is what I wanted to do. The part that was the scariest part about doing that stuff is because my guitar tone is associated with MÖTLEY's sound. I was kind of concerned about that, so I just played around a little more. I mean, it turned out well for me."

He continued: "I know that a lot of people were expecting probably more of a blues-oriented thing or kind of an extension of MÖTLEY or something like that. And I wanted to go a whole different route and leaning more towards the left instead of the beaten path, I guess. I wanted to go somewhere with it. I didn't know if it would work or not. I just did the stuff and got acquainted with different people, like [fellow musicians and collaborators] Paul Taylor and Jacob Bunton and Brion Gamboa and Ray Luzier, of course."

In October, Mars shared "Loyal To The Lie", the lead single from "The Other Side Of Mars", along with a music video featuring imagery from classic horror films and pictures of infamous serial killers.

Discussing the title behind the upcoming album, the 72-year-old explained that it refers to the two different sides of his playing style: "the MÖTLEY side and the Mars side."

"I always have a very clear vision of what I want to do," he said, revealing that he plans to release more music beyond the debut album. "There's a lot of ideas that I have that. I don't want to call them 'left,' but they are, you know what I mean? My feeling has always been, I might gain some fans, I might lose some fans. But what they’re hearing, it's all me."

Regarding his motivation to pursue a solo project, Mick said: "I'm trying to keep growing. Because if you stop learning new things, if you stop playing new things, if you close your mind, you're done. You have to keep moving and creating. Next!"

When Mars announced his retirement from touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE in October 2022 as a result of worsening health issues, he maintained that he would remain a member of the band, with John 5 taking his place on the road. However, he has since filed a lawsuit against MÖTLEY CRÜE in Los Angeles County's Superior Court, claiming that, after his announcement, the rest of CRÜE tried to remove him as a significant stakeholder in the group's corporation and business holdings via a shareholders' meeting.

Mars — whose real name is Robert Alan Deal — served as MÖTLEY CRÜE's lead guitarist since the band's inception in 1981.

MARK TREMONTI Says He Holds Music 'Aside' For Possible New CREED Album

MARK TREMONTI Says He Holds Music 'Aside' For Possible New CREED Album

In a new interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, Mark Tremonti was asked how the CREED reunion came about. The CREED and ALTER BRIDGE guitarist, who also fronts his own band TREMONTI, said: "Me and Scott [Stapp, CREED singer] spoke before COVID happened. We had done a few ShipRockeds [cruises] with ALTER BRIDGE and TREMONTI, and I always enjoyed them and I thought it would be a great idea to do our own cruise at some point. And when I was speaking to my manager, I was, like, 'I think a CREED cruise would be something that would really work.' And at the time our agent had already been doing the PARAMORE — I think it's called 'Parahoy!' cruise — and they always had a lot of fun with it. So I said it would be kind of a great reintroduction for CREED to do that, 'cause it's just kind of a soft landing back into the world. And it just made sense. And when it came out and it did so well, it made us really kind of re-evaluate what we're gonna do for the rest of the year. And that's when we announced the tour. The funny thing is everything just kind of happened naturally all at once with all the hype — the Rangers playing the music and the Vikings playing the music. And just the other night, my kids showed me a clip of the Green Bay Packers playing playing 'Higher' at the stadium. It's just great coincidence that CREED's kind of coming back into the fold in popular culture, which has been great for us since we just timed the tour at the same time."

Asked if he can see CREED making new music in the not-too-distant future, Mark said: "I'm not sure. If we would have known this was gonna do so well, we would have planned ahead of time and done new music beforehand. But from an outsider looking in, sometimes people are, like, 'Yeah, just put out new music.' But we'd have to record it nine months ago to have it be ready now, kind of for the tour. If we started writing music now, it would take us months and months and months to write it and then months to record it and then six months of setting it up and by then it's time for us to start ALTER BRIDGE. So it's kind of a difficult thing. Maybe if there was a song or two or an EP, it'd be easier. But I also go in the studio in February with TREMONTI, and Scott Stapp is just releasing a solo record. So it's kind of a tough thing."

Tremonti went on to say that he is not opposed to the idea of making a new CREED record.

"When I'm writing songs and I go over ideas, I'm, like, 'Wow, that would be a great CREED song, and I kind of hold it aside for the day that that happens," he explained. "A lot of times when I'll write a song that I'll put on a TREMONTI record, I'll be, like, 'That would have been a great CREED song,' and it turns into a song that people like, but they just kind of get forgotten. Some of the ballads on the TREMONTI records, the diehard TREMONTI fans love 'em, but I think they would have been bigger CREED songs, some of them."

CREED's 2024 "Summer Of '99" tour, produced by Live Nation, will kick off on July 17, 2024, and will run through September 28, 2024. 3 DOORS DOWN will be direct support on the majority of the tour, with DAUGHTRY, SWITCHFOOT, TONIC and BIG WRECK appearing on select dates, and FINGER ELEVEN opening all shows.

On August 31, 2024, CREED will headline the inaugural "Summer Of '99 And Beyond Festival" at Glen Helen Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, California, with support from 3 DOORS DOWN, DAUGHTRY, FINGER ELEVEN, FUEL, VERTICAL HORIZON and THE VERVE PIPE.

CREED's first shows together in 12 years will take place as headliners of the "Summer Of '99" cruise, setting sail from April 18-22, 2024. The band added a second cruise the following weekend.

CREED's enormous success is largely due to the prolific writing team of singer Scott Stapp and Tremonti, who founded the band together in 1993. Their winning combination of driving guitar riffs, rousing hooks and introspective lyrics earned them legions of loyal fans around the world. Following the release of their first two albums, the four-piece — which also included bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips — became the first band ever to have seven consecutive No. 1 singles on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. CREED's third album, "Weathered" (2001),also debuted at No. 1, and produced several popular singles, including Top Ten hits "My Sacrifice" and "One Last Breath". Though CREED announced its breakup in 2004, the band briefly reunited in 2009 to release "Full Circle". Heavier than their previous albums, "Full Circle" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, proving the incredible staying power of the band.

CREED disbanded in 2004 but reunited five years later for the aforementioned "Full Circle" LP and an extensive tour. Stapp has since toured and recorded as a solo artist, although he suffered a drug-related mental breakdown in 2014 and spent several years recovering from that.

WARRANT's ERIK TURNER: New Music Is 'On Hold' Due To 'Some Personal Stuff Going On'

WARRANT's ERIK TURNER: New Music Is 'On Hold' Due To 'Some Personal Stuff Going On'

In a new interview with Robert Miguel of Uvalde Radio Rocks, WARRANT guitarist Erik Turner was asked if there has been any talk of a follow-up to 2017's "Louder Harder Faster" album. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We're not sure what we're gonna do as far as new music. It's just been a little bit — there's just been some stuff going on where we haven't really been doing any new music. We have some riffs [being thrown] around. We have some half-finished songs going on. Due to some personal stuff going on, we're just kind of on hold as far as the new record goes. Nothing horrible, but just band stuff."

This past March, WARRANT guitarist Joey Allen told Mankato, Minnesota's "The Five Count" radio show that he and his bandmates were "actually writing right now for a record. So people are sending riffs around. You can do it on the Internet nowadays," he explained. "We just have a cloud-based files system where we just upload ideas. And somebody will take an idea, a music idea, and put some lyrics to it, and we'll start to craft our songs. So maybe by this fall we'll dig into the studio again and [record] the follow-up to 'Louder Harder Faster', which came out, I think, six years ago this year. The recording process takes about four or five weeks, so maybe early next year we'll have something new out for everybody to listen to and back on the road we will go to support that."

More than two years ago, WARRANT singer Robert Mason told the "Thunder Underground" podcast that there wasn't "a defined schedule" for the group's next studio album, but he added that he and his bandmates are "always writing."

In 2020, Turner told the "Talking Metal" podcast that WARRANT was "throwing some ideas around" for a new LP. He said: "I've been sending Robert some riffs, and Robert's been working on songs. I've got a song going with Jerry [Dixon, bass]. So it's a slow, long process for us, but the seed of a new record has been started. Now, that doesn't mean the seed will grow into a record. We've got a long way to go. We don't have one finished song. We've got a couple of things cooking, and we're actually sending ideas around back and forth to each other."

"Louder Harder Faster" was released in May 2017. The disc was recorded with producer Jeff Pilson — a veteran bassist who has played with DIO, FOREIGNER, DOKKEN and T&N, among others — and was mixed by Pat Regan, except for the song "I Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink", which was mixed by Chris "The Wizard" Collier (FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, PRONG, LAST IN LINE).

Mason replaced original WARRANT frontman Jani Lane in 2008 and has brought a degree of stability to the band after Lane's unceremonious departure and subsequent 2011 death.

WARRANT is rounded out by original drummer Steven Sweet.

New JOURNEY Band Biography 'Worlds Apart' Now Available

New JOURNEY Band Biography 'Worlds Apart' Now Available

Time Passages has announced "Journey: Worlds Apart", the definitive accounting of the "Don't Stop Believin'" hitmakers by award-winning journalist Nick DeRiso. A multiple columnist of the year award-winner with the USA Today network, DeRiso conducted dozens of interviews to compile a book that's not just a biography of JOURNEY — it's a backstage pass.

JOURNEY started as a dream for former SANTANA road manager Herbie Herbert, who thought he could build a blockbuster band out of the remnants of post-Woodstock SANTANA with Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon. Turns out, he could — but it would take a few albums, and the arrival of frontman Steve Perry. By the time Rolie exited at the turn of the '80s, JOURNEY was already a multi-platinum band — and they would only get bigger with the addition of Jonathan Cain from JOURNEY's former opening act THE BABYS.

Solo projects and long periods apart slowed their momentum until Perry finally left for good in the late '90s. Then JOURNEY was faced with one of its biggest challenges: Whether and how to move forward without the singer who had redefined their sound forever on songs like "Open Arms", "Only The Young" and "When You Love A Woman".

The story is guided from their earliest roots by conversations with co-founding members Schon, Rolie and Prairie Prince, along with longtime Herbert confidant Pat Morrow. DeRiso then follows JOURNEY toward pop-culture superstardom through additional talks with later-era collaborators Cain, Steve Smith, Deen Castronovo, Steve Augeri and scores of producers, sidemen, label representatives and acknowledged experts like former Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild, original MTV VJ Martha Quinn, and longtime San Francisco Chronicle music writer Joel Selvin, the latter of whom covered JOURNEY almost from the beginning.

Along the way, "Journey: Worlds Apart" emerges as the definitive look back at Journey, with deep explorations of every era, every album and every song. Pathway collaborations and key side projects complete this detailed analysis, as DeRiso speaks with John Waite, Jan Hammer, Marco Mendoza, Ron Wikso and others.

Nick DeRiso is assistant managing editor with Townsquare Media. Time Passages most recently published "Eagles: Up Ahead In The Distance", the second in a three-book series.

Time Passages, LLC is an independent publishing based near Annapolis, Maryland.

Canadian Rockers HONEYMOON SUITE Announce New Studio Album 'Alive'

Canadian Rockers HONEYMOON SUITE Announce New Studio Album 'Alive'

Canadian melodic rock band HONEYMOON SUITE — consisting of Johnnie Dee (lead vocals),Derry Grehan (guitars, keyboards, background vocals),Dave Betts (drums),Gary Lalonde (bass) and Peter Nunn (keyboards) — will release its new studio album, "Alive", on February 16, 2024 via Frontiers Music Srl.

"Alive" is produced by notable Canadian producer Mike Krompass, whose songwriting and production credits include artists like Meghan Trainor, Steven Tyler, THEORY OF A DEAD MAN and SMASH MOUTH. His expertise, combined with the band's celebrated melodic rock, powerful vocals and memorable guitar riffs, is sure to make this a timeless record of unforgettable rock anthems.

HONEYMOON SUITE was originally formed in 1981 by lead vocalist and guitarist Johnnie Dee from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Following the departure of the original lead guitarist, Derry Grehan, also from the Niagara Falls area, joined the band. Johnnie and Derry decided to re-build the band at that point and recruited Dave Betts on drums, Ray Coburn on keys, and Gary Lalonde on bass. They hit the road hard playing six six nights a week and writing songs with the hope of scoring a record deal.

In 1983, the band entered a demo of "New Girl Now" to a homegrown contest put on by Toronto rock station Q107. They won that year and this led to a multi album deal with WEA Canada after being signed by Bob Roper.

The band recorded their debut self-titled album which was released in July 1984. The LP was an instant success, and with the help of massive airplay, several videos on MTV and MuchMusic, it went on to sell over 300,000 units in Canada alone.

Since their debut release, HONEYMOON SUITE has released a total of seven studio albums with over one million units sold worldwide driven by the success of a string of hit singles such as "New Girl Now", "Burning In Love", "Wave Babies", "Stay In The Light", "Feel It Again" and "What Does It Take", to name a few.

The band has won numerous awards including a Canadian Juno for group of year in 1986, triple platinum sales in Canada with the first three albums, and platinum sales for the greatest-hits CD "The Singles", released in 1989. They also received an award in June 2015 for 100,000-plus performances on Canadian radio for "Burning In Love", "New Girl Now", "Wave Babies" and "What Does It Take".

They have toured extensively in the U.S., Canada and Europe with acts such as ZZ TOP, HEART, BILLY IDOL, JOURNEY, Bryan Adams, SAGA, LOVERBOY, JETHRO TULL and .38 SPECIAL, to name a few.

HONEYMOON SUITE has also enjoyed many of their songs being placed in film and TV shows such as "Miami Vice" and "Bones", and movie's such as "Lethal Weapon" and "One Crazy Summer".

During the 1990s, the band went through several lineup changes, but in the early 2000s, the original lineup of Johnnie, Derry, Gary and Dave was reformed, along with the addition of keyboard player Peter Nunn, and is still intact to this day.

Fast forward to 2020. Derry and Johnnie, armed with a surplus of new original songs, reached out to fellow Canadian producer/songwriter Mike Krompass, based in Nashville, Tennessee. Mike, a longtime fan, was all in to co-write and produce a new HONEYMOON SUITE album for his new record label. They got to work and before long, they were joined by Dave, Gary and Peter cutting bed tracks for studio album number eight.

The first single, "Tell Me What You Want", was released in October of 2019 along with a groundbreaking new video and response was immediate from fans and radio alike. A second single called "Find What You're Looking For" was released in June 2020. The song was an immediate hit on AOR rock radio in Canada, charting in the Billboard Top 30, the first time in 19 years for HONEYMOON SUITE.

"Alive" track listing:

01. Alive
02. Find What You're Looking For
03. Done Doin' Me
04. Not Afraid To Fall
05. Tell Me What You Want
06. Give It All
07. Love Comes
08. Broken
09. Livin' Out Loud
10. Doesn't Feel That Way

HONEYMOON SUITE is:

Johnnie Dee - lead vocals
Derry Greham - guitars / keyboards / backing vocals
Dave Betts - drums

MICK MARS: 'No One Can Ever Duplicate' EDDIE VAN HALEN

MICK MARS: 'No One Can Ever Duplicate' EDDIE VAN HALEN

In a new interview with "Rock Of Nations With Dave Kinchen And Shane McEachern", MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars spoke about the early days of the Sunset Strip and running in the same circles as some of the other legendary guitarists from the era.

"Randy [Rhoads] and I didn't know each other, but I went to see him a few times at Starwood when he was with QUIET RIOT — right before Ozzy [Osbourne] stole Rudy [Sarzo] and Randy," Mars said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "And I saw him a couple of times, and I went, 'That kid's really, really a good player.' So I went to see him a couple of times. And I wasn't surprised that he got there with Ozzy, but it was cool to see that. But Eddie Van Halen was running around at that time too. And Ed and I go way, way back, when he was, like, 19 years old. Ed and I were, like, not close pals or anything, but we knew each other. We'd goof around and tell jokes, and that kind of stuff, and that was a blast. So, yeah, [they were] a few of the guys that I fully respect during that time."

Mars was also asked about other guitarists playing Eddie Van Halen's licks, particularly as it relates to the upcoming 2024 tour featuring Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham that will focus largely on the music of VAN HALEN. He said: "No one can ever duplicate [Eddie]. No one. I mean, look how many people are trying to imitate Jimi [Hendrix] after all these years. It doesn't work. You can hit the notes, but you know what? The hands, your feel, the way that you connect with your guitar, or whatever instrument that it is you're playing, is different."

He continued: "When you get somebody as good as Satriani that goes, like, 'I can't play this lick,' an Eddie lick…. He's Eddie Van Halen. Or he's Randy Rhoads, dude. You'll never copy it. You can mimic it, but not copy it. So that's the way I feel. If you can stand behind a curtain, you can certainly tell who's who."

Mick's solo album, "The Other Side Of Mars", will be released on February 23, 2024.

In October, Mars shared "Loyal To The Lie", the lead single from "The Other Side Of Mars", along with a music video featuring imagery from classic horror films and pictures of infamous serial killers.

RON 'BUMBLEFOOT' THAL, DEREK SHERINIAN And DINO JELUSICK Join Forces In New Band WHOM GODS DESTROY

RON 'BUMBLEFOOT' THAL, DEREK SHERINIAN And DINO JELUSICK Join Forces In New Band WHOM GODS DESTROY

A new force of progressive metal has emerged — WHOM GODS DESTROY, a formidable group formed by keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, SONS OF APOLLO, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION),guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES, SONS OF APOLLO) and vocalist Dino Jelusick (WHITESNAKE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA). Along with the potent rhythm section of bassist Yas Nomura and drummer Bruno Valverde, WHOM GODS DESTROY has recently signed a worldwide deal with InsideOut Music.

Sherinian and Bumblefoot have built upon the creative link they developed as two of the key elements of supergroup SONS OF APOLLO and now set their sights on a new path with WHOM GODS DESTROY, who are getting ready to present the musical odyssey that is their debut opus, "Insanium", to be released in March 2024.

Bumblefoot explains how WHOM GODS DESTROY got started: "Derek and I began writing new music in 2020. Soon after, Dino joined, followed by Yas and Bruno. We'd share ideas, and each record parts, building and rebuilding songs, and by June '23 the album was finished. The songs all went through a lot of changes, developing...you can definitely hear what each person brings to the music – when it adds up, it's a mix of melody and intense heavy prog."

Working with powerhouse vocalist Dino Jelusick, as well as Yas Nomura and Bruno Valverde, they knew they were building something special, says Bumblefoot. "These guys are all just mind-blowing," he says. "I've known Dino for a few years. We did a collab song a few years ago... His voice is just magic. He's one of the greatest singers out there. Bruno and Yas are downright frightening; there's no limit to what they can do, WTF...! And all great guys to hang with."

Sherinian agrees: "All three of these musicians are super talented with great energy. I think Dino is the real deal. Ron and I knew that we could do something great with him."

Jelusick expresses his excitement as well: "What I love about this band is that it doesn't have any limits. It came together back in 2020 when we started talking about it. Yas and I started working separately not knowing we were both asked to do this. Bruno was the last piece of this puzzle and I'm glad the recommendation came from me. Love this lineup. Derek and Ron are wizards."

While a first single by WHOM GODS DESTROY will be launched alongside its promotional performance video clip in January, you can already check out various teaser clips and introductory snippets on the band’s social media outlets. So, make sure to follow the band online and stay tuned for a lot more activity as well as further updates on WHOM GODS DESTROY and "Insanium" coming soon.

Watch: ALICE COOPER, ACE FREHLEY, GEEZER BUTLER, SAMMY HAGAR, Others Perform At EDDIE TRUNK's 40th-Anniversary Party

Watch: ALICE COOPER, ACE FREHLEY, GEEZER BUTLER, SAMMY HAGAR, Others Perform At EDDIE TRUNK's 40th-Anniversary Party

Alice Cooper, Ace Frehley (KISS),Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH),Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW),Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT),Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER),Sammy Hagar (VAN HALEN),Michael Anthony (VAN HALEN),Kevin Cronin (REO SPEEDWAGON),Lita Ford and Stephen Pearcy (RATT) are among the musicians who performed at Eddie Trunk's 40th-anniversary party last night (Monday, December 11) at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fan-filmed video and photos of the concert can be found below.

Trunk celebrated four-decades in radio with an all-star event featuring Hagar and Anthony as THE OTHER HALF (of VAN HALEN) and a host of "surprise guests".

All proceeds of the event will go to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.

Trunk began his career in 1983 and has built a reputation for being one of the most respected personalities in the world of rock, hard rock and heavy metal. Eddie has spent time as a record executive and has also worked in artist management, but has really found his calling as a broadcaster, host and interviewer on radio and TV.

Eddie began his broadcasting career in 1983 after convincing the execs at his favorite local radio station, WDHA in New Jersey, to allow him to produce a hard rock/heavy metal specialty show, one of the first of its kind. Eddie also hosts a live music, talk and interview show on SiriusXM satellite radio. The show has become appointment listening throughout America and Canada due to its in-depth interviews, commentary and wide-ranging guests and audience calls.

In 2002 Eddie took the leap into television after being hired as a host on VH1's sister station VH1 Classic, where Eddie was regularly seen hosting the interview series "Hanging With", as well as appearing on many of the station's other segments and specials. From 2008 to 2015, he was host and co-producer of the hit series "That Metal Show", the longest-running program in the station's history. "That Metal Show" was seen around the world and was a favorite destination for many rock/heavy metal fans and artists. Over more than 120 episodes, the show featured the biggest names in all genres of rock music. VH1 Classic was terminated as a channel in August of 2016, ending the program with the end of the network.

Eddie is armed with a true passion for the music he so feverishly champions. A true scholar of the genre, his encyclopedic knowledge of both its history and its current events has led him to be widely regarded as one of its foremost authorities by fans and artists alike. Consequently, it made perfect sense that Eddie would eventually turn his attention to writing. In 2010, Eddie added "author" to his list of media credits and released his first book "Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock & Heavy Metal". The book was very well received by critics and fans alike. In 2013 the sequel, "Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Vol. 2", was released to equally strong sales and response. Both books were released by Abrams Publishing.

In 2016 Eddie was named host of the AXS TV series "Real To Reel", which spotlights music documentaries of all genres.

In July 2018, AXS TV debuted "TrunkFest" hosted by Trunk. In this TV series Eddie takes viewers on a tour of experiences at music festivals around the world. The program airs various times and days on AXS or on their site. Eddie also has appears and consults on various music based documentaries, most recently the Ronnie James Dio documentary which he appears in, and several shows for Reelz, Paramount+ and more channels related to music.

Eddie hosts countless rock shows, cruises and festivals on a regular basis. He also regular appears on the road performing live speaking shows. In 2023 Eddie reunited with his former "That Metal Show" hosts Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine for a new YouTube rock talk/interview show called "That Rocks!"

SUPAFLY Feat. SPREAD EAGLE's RAY WEST Streaming New Song "Hypothermia"

SUPAFLY Feat. SPREAD EAGLE's RAY WEST Streaming New Song "Hypothermia"

As one of the more dynamic vocalists of the early ‘90s, NYC native Ray West’s defiant screams and guttural wails defined a generation of headbangers. The leader of Spread Eagle, West aided in the creation of such metal anthems such as “Switchblade Serenade” and “Devil’s Road”. And now, with his collaborator/bassist/producer, Miguel Gonzalez, by his side, West has created his most personal music and songwriting yet. Brimming with heavy urban power grooves, SupaFly represents an evolution for West. SupaFly’s The Vibe is due out on March 8 via Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group) and features revisited and remastered versions of tracks previously recorded, as well as new compositions.

"SupaFly's music is on the heavier side," explains West. "It’s got an urban groove, emotionally charged lyrics that come from a place of strength - and much vulnerability. And since I’m an open book, that’s cool with me."

While Spread Eagle is a quintessential NYC, high-energy, hard rock n' roll band… SupaFly is old school with new school sensibilities. The singer is confident that longtime Spread Eagle fans will also appreciate SupaFly. In a recent success, SupaFly released a cover of the KC & The Sunshine Band classic “I’m Your Boogie Man” for Halloween, immediately connecting with fans (with the song's video getting over 30K views upon release).

View lyric video below:

SupaFly hits again just before the holidays with the extremely personal track, “Hypothermia”.

West explains the story behind the song, “A talented musician with dreams of stardom gets a record contract only to become disillusioned with the life he’s chosen. He turns to drugs to mask his emotional downfall. And the person who loves him unconditionally is helpless to save him.”

“'Hypothermia' is like driving down a foggy coastal mountain highway – it’s lonely road,” adds Gonzalez.

Listen here, and below:

The Vibe contains ten tracks - featuring both aforementioned singles along with the standout track “Drowning Man,” which will hit on January 26.

Looking forward, West plans to remain busy and introduce his new band to the masses, "Keep writing SupaFly music, spread the vibe worldwide, and play live shows. Because if you’re not playing shows, then what’s the point?"

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Announce Upcoming CD And Digital Release Of Manley Field House, Syracuse University, April 7, 1972

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Announce Upcoming CD And Digital Release Of Manley Field House, Syracuse University, April 7, 1972

Throughout The Allman Brothers Band’s 35-year existence, each live performance holds relevance. While band members left, joined, or passed on, the remaining constant has always been the band’s ability to light up any stage. On April 7, 1972, the Allman Brothers Band was invited to perform at Manley Field House on the campus of Syracuse University. Coming shortly after the sudden passing of band leader Duane Allman in October 1971, this show captured a rare, brief, and emotionally charged “Five-Man Band” period when the lineup was composed of only five original members - Gregg Allman on vocals and keyboard, Dickey Betts on guitar, Berry Oakley on bass, and drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe.

Pulled from the original source recording and remastered, Manley Field House, Syracuse University, April 7, 1972 will become available on CD and digital for the first time, as an official band release January 12 via the Allman Brothers Band Recording Company. This show has been widely circulated as a fan-favorite radio broadcast bootleg for years, however this release is the first to include the complete show with the highest audio quality preserved from the direct source.

The band’s performance at Manley Field House, the school’s indoor track and field facility, was recorded and simulcast on Syracuse University’s WAER college radio on the night of the show, and subsequently rebroadcast by the station and some of its’ former staff members as they moved around in radio. The recording was made with the ABB’s cooperation and authorization using an auxiliary mixing board on the side of the stage with a feed from the ABB sound desk.

The 11-track collection features set staples from this period including show opener “Statesboro Blues,” “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed,” “Midnight Rider,” and “Whipping Post,” as well as “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More” off their then newly released album Eat a Peach. “Syracuse Jam,” included here for the first time, is an example of the one-time melody jamming the band was famous for and is unique in that it does not appear in any other known ABB recording.

Jeff Chard, SU concert coordinator in 1971-72, reflects fondly on that night and offers his sentiments in the album package’s liner notes. “This was the Five Man Band, as Brother Duane had passed just over five months prior,” Chard recalls. “The quintet had pushed on, playing some 41 shows in 22 weeks. This night saw Gregg singing and playing his heart out, while Dickey Betts is doing phenomenal double duty on guitar, switching seamlessly between the necessary slide parts and his own soaring leads. But the real revelation of the night is that Berry is the glue, and the second lead player as well. His thunderous bass holds the quintet together – you’ll hear it, and we could see it that night. Then there is the way Butch Trucks and Jaimoe lock in on the drums, the way the whole unit responds, five playing as one.

“It was a memorable but brief time for the band. Six months later, keyboardist Chuck Leavell was added to the group, making the ABB six players strong again, only to lose Berry in another motorcycle accident on November 11, 1972. Shortly thereafter, Lamar Williams took over bass duties, and the Allman Brothers Band started a new musical chapter. But for that one year, with the five original men still standing – and especially on that magical April night in Syracuse – we surely felt the spirit. Best damn band we’re ever gonna hear indeed! We were all believers, and this CD is a testament to those words.”

In a live review of the show in the Syracuse University’s student newspaper the Daily Orange, writer Bruce Apar noted: “The Allman Band itself was thoroughly remarkable, leaving proof in still another city that they have developed into a supreme group, by which lesser talents can be judged.” (April 11, 1972)
