English rock singer and songwriter, Graham Bonnet (Alcatrazz, MSG, Rainbow), spoke with journalist Mark Dean for a new interview at Antihero Magazine. Read an excerpt below:

Antihero: Here you are in 2020, 41 years after that Rainbow album that you released with them and you’re still doing it.

Graham Bonnet: "I know. I’m stuck in that style of music. I never, ever thought I’d be in a band like Rainbow, which is basically Deep Purple-ish. Then I got a call and I was asked to come over to audition for the band. And I went over. I learnt the song called 'Mistreated'. I didn’t know Rainbow from… I didn’t know who the hell they were, no idea, sounds like a punk group, Rainbow.

"So anyway, I did the audition and they gave me the job basically that very day I went over and sang for them. I was very happy that it did happen because it changed my life completely. I had a new look at some different kind of music that I’d never played before, never dreamed of playing before. Rock songs and stuff when I was a kid in my band because like you do when you’re a kid, you play in pubs and do other stuff. That’s what I was doing, so I knew what to do, I think. But I learned a lot from Roger and from everybody in that band because the musicianship was just incredible. I just stood back in amazement when they started to play this 'Mistreated' song. It was just wow. The sound was just incredible and the keyboard player, Don, what an amazing player. Ritchie, say no more, Roger, fucking great bass player, and of course, Cozy Powell. That was the best band I’ve ever seen in rehearsal. At that time I was just blown away. So I had to take the job even though I thought I was wrong.

"I went back home to London. At that time, that’s where I was living. I had to say to my manager, 'I’m not right for this, these guys have got long hair and spandex and whatever, I look totally wrong. But they’ve given me the job, what do I do?' He said, 'You better do it because I think it would be good for you.' Because I found out later I lost a lot of fucking money from playing in that band. I didn’t see very much at all. When I spoke to Ronnie, he asked me if I was paid anything from Rainbow, like at the end of the year. I said 'No, I didn’t.' Sad, I was really ripped off. I said I think that’s what happened to me. I don’t like telling tales out of school and all that, but it’s just very, very disappointing and one of the reasons I left the band. I just thought, hang on, something’s wrong here."

In the new episode of Three Sides Of The Coin, guitarist Doug Aldrich (The Dead Daisies, Burning Rain, Whitesnake, DIO, etc.), discusses auditioning to replace Ace Frehley in KISS. Watch below.

Says Doug: "Basically, I came out to Los Angeles in '81, just after high school, and I immediately started... there used to be this paper that you could advertise for musicians and stuff, and I joined a band with some guys that were looking for other musicians to jam with. We started playing immediately, we were writing songs and also doing covers. We played our first couple of gigs, I can't remember where they were, but then we ended up playing at Gazzarri's on Sunset Strip, it was a famous club, you guys have probably heard of it. One day, a girl came in and said her boyfriend was Eric Carr, and that they were looking for a guitar player for KISS, and she thought that I would be really good for it. I thought it was a joke, you know, just winding me up. We played there a couple of weeks later, and she came and she brought Eric... it was dark in there but I could see his hair, it looked like him but, of course, nobody had ever seen their faces yet. But it was, it was him. I gave him my number at work, I didn't have a home phone at that time. He called my work a few days later, invited me to come down to the Record Plant, and I met Gene and Paul there... it was weird seeing those guys without makeup, 'cause you felt almost guilty. You just feel like, 'OK, no one's supposed to see these guys, and here they're just walking around.' When you haven't seen someone's face, you don't really... of course you knew who the guys were, but you didn't realize what they look like. They looked cool, but it was just weird."

Marty Friedman says that being handed a guitar that is out of tune is the most annoying thing that has happened to him as a touring and recording artist.

The former MEGADETH guitarist took to his social media to list some of the most irritating things that he has had to experience in his nearly four-decade career.

He wrote: "Since everyone has off days, and even some of the most seasoned pros in the business drop the ball sometimes, I thought it might be fun to list up the 10 most annoying things that happen in recording and playing live. I'm sure many of you can relate! Here we go!

"10. You work with an engineer for the first time (not applicable to long time acquaintances) and while recording, he talks about ANYTHING WHATSOEVER that is not directly related to what is being recorded at that moment.

"9. You finish a show, you think you played better than usual, it was a rare night of miracles, yet after the show many people complain to you that the sound man had you too quiet in the mix.

"8. You are doing a casual event like a guitar clinic or a meet and greet, and someone there thinks a strobe light is appropriate.

"7. Worse yet, a fog machine

"6. The monitor guy blasts your ear monitors so unbelievably loud that you try to rip them out of your head only to realize you can't because they are so well molded to your ears

"5. The engineer is not rolling when you do that long, "magic" take that was so inspired with so many ideas that you will never bring back again. (Actually this happened SO much in the analog days that I eventually developed the ability to re-play what I just played to a relatively good extent. Still it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING)

"4. You are doing some kind of one-off show/event without your own crew/techs. You do a thorough soundcheck, complete with staff following you around with iPads saving settings. You get it perfect, tell the mixer not to touch ANYTHING before the show. He gives you a knowing nod, and a thumbs up sign. Showtime comes and every possible sound is drastically different.

"3. When you're pissed at yourself for not being prepared enough for a recording session (or even a live rehearsal) and you have to sit there working out a tricky part in front of everybody, like a moron, while the clock ticks...

"2. You're recording a part that is requiring a lot of takes and attention for one single part. The engineer plays the part from a slightly different spot EVERY. SINGLE TIME. This is a killer, and to be honest I've only seen assistant engineers do it. It happens more than you would think, and in nice studios too. I would not be surprised to see some guys get violently angry at this, as this is unbelievably annoying when you are trying to concentrate.

"AND FINALLY the #1 most annoying thing that happens in the world of recording/live concerts----

"1. ANYTIME, ANYWHERE and in ANY SITUATION your guitar tech hands you a guitar that is out of tune. This sounds trivial, but trust me, it isn't. Luckily this doesn't happen much, but when you are working-and sometimes in quite high pressure situations-and someone hands you a faulty work tool it can get pretty hellish.

"I see you guys nodding your heads out there...any more to add?! Which of these was the most horrific?! Stay safe!"

As previously reported, Marty's long-awaited documentary, titled "Spacefox", will tentatively arrive in 2021. The film, which is being directed by Jeremy Frindel, the founder of Substratum Films, follows Friedman's reinvention from lead guitarist in MEGADETH to one of the most famous TV personalities in Japan.

Last month, Friedman released a "Home Jams" version of his song "Self Pollution", which originally appeared on the 2017 album "Wall Of Sound". The new rendition of the song features Friedman, along with his longtime bandmates Kiyoshi (bass) and Jordan Ziff (guitar), plus Anup Sastry (drums). The split-screen video was filmed in Tokyo, Osaka, Phoenix and Baltimore, with each musician separated in his or her home.

"Wall Of Sound" was released in August 2017 via Prosthetic Records.

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has shared a cover version of LINKIN PARK's "In The End" tomark the third anniversary of Chester Bennington's death.

Flynn performed a rendition of the "Hybrid Theory" smash hit at his birthday bash in Oakland, California on July 22, 2017 — two days after Chester's body was found at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California. The singer's passing was ruled a suicide.

In a message accompanying the Instragram video of his "In The End" performance, Flynn wrote: "3 years ago we performed this song at my birthday bash after learning of Chester's horrible death only a couple of days before. We were shocked and saddened, and I think most of us were still recovering from Chris Cornell's sudden and tragic death, when this came along and hit us like a ton of bricks.

"I know people are gonna pooh pooh this, but I don't give a shit. I love LINKIN PARK, I saw them before the first record even dropped opening for ORGY at the Maritime Hall. I saw them almost every time they came to the Bay Area, and they always put on a fantastic fucking show. Played numerous festivals with them, saw them in Paris France doing promotion for 'The Blackening', and I saw them again in Belarus well getting ready to tour for 'Bloodstone And Diamonds'.

"I know [the anniversary of] Chester's passing was [on Monday], but it seemed appropriate to share this heartfelt cover. Shout out to J-Mac for bringing it on the chorus. #linkinpark #chesterbennington"

LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

On June 17, MACHINE HEAD released "Civil Unrest", a two-song digital single featuring A-side "Stop The Bleeding" and B-side "Bulletproof". This pair of fierce protest anthems were both written days after the back-to-back murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. "Stop The Bleeding" features a guest appearance from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach, with Flynn and Leach trading lyrical lines that spit anger and frustration at current events.

MACHINE HEAD is donating a significant portion of the streaming proceeds from "Stop The Bleeding" to Grassroots Law Project, the organization representing George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.

Dave Grohl has released the first audio version of his "Dave's True Stories" series. The nine-minute episode sees the FOO FIGHTERS frontman — whose mother was a public school teacher — defending teachers amid the "daunting and evermore politicized question of reopening our schools in the coronavirus pandemic."

"Teachers are confronted with a whole new set of dilemmas that most people would not consider. There's so much more to be addressed than just opening the doors and sending [children] back home, my mother tells me on the phone," Grohl said, as per Rolling Stone. "Now 82 and retired, she runs down a list of concerns based on her 35 years of experience: Masks and distancing, temperature checks, crowded bussing, crowded hallways, sports, air-conditioning systems, lunchrooms, public restrooms, janitorial staff. Most schools already struggle from a lack of resources. How can they possibly afford the mountain of safety measures that will need to be in place?"

Earlier in the month, President Donald Trump in a series of tweets threatened to withhold federal funds from schools that don't reopen and lashed out at the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention over guidelines for reopening.

According to Grohl, the only way to avoid risking crowding students back into classrooms until the coronavirus is fully under control is to continue to offer instruction online-only.

"Remote learning is an inconvenient and hopefully temporary solution, but as much as Donald Trump's conductor-less orchestra would love to see the country reopen schools in the name of rosy optics, ask a science teacher what they think about White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany's comment that 'Science should not stand in the way,'" Grohl said. "It would be foolish to do so at the expense of our students, teachers and school."

Two weeks ago, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos refused to say whether schools should follow guidelines from the CDC on reopening, saying those guidelines are meant to be "flexible."

"The CDC guidelines are just that, meant to be flexible and meant to be applied as appropriate for the situation," DeVos told CNN's "State Of The Union".

David Lee Roth has shared several more pieces of his original artwork which were inspired by the COVID-19 crisis.

For the past three months, the VAN HALEN singer has been posting paintings on his Twitter account that reflect the times and channel the mass anxiety around the novel coronavirus.

"Social commentary is what I do," Roth told The New York Times. "It's what I've always done."

The singer explained that he has always had an artistic eye. "My hand has always been in wardrobe, background sets, stage sets, album covers, video direction," he said. "This is part of it. And there's craft involved, so there's a little bit more heft to some of the statements."

This past March, Roth postponed the final six shows of his Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Roth performed as the opening act for the February/March North American leg of KISS's "End Of The Road" farewell tour.

While he is unable to return to the road, Roth said that he will continue filling his days with art.

"This is performance therapy," he told The New York Times. "I'm venting. I'm angry. And I am not asking for forgiveness. And this is how I do it."

VAN HALEN has been inactive since it finished its U.S. tour in October 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

Back in September, Roth said that there were no plans for VAN HALEN to do anything for the foreseeable future. "I think VAN HALEN's finished and this is the next phase," he said, referring to his solo project.

In a new interview with The Network317 Podcast, legendary hard rock bassist Rudy Sarzo was asked what advice he has for up-and-coming musicians who are looking to make it in the music industry. He responded (see video below): "Any advice that I can give, really, is based on my references on a music industry that does not exist. I can give you advice, but I think there's better-suited people out there who are more currently on the pulse of what's going on. I can only give you advice based on what's considered right now a classic rock musician. Had the industry not changed, yes, I can give you pearls of wisdom.

"Certain things still apply, but I think what the musicians need more today than ever is mentorship from people who are doing it right now — the ones who are currently producing the sounds that are popular," he continued. "Whatever structure there happens to be in the record industry, I'm not even aware. And I have this conversation with many successful people. We're all in the same boat.

"There used to be a formula," he added. "There used to be an infrastructure. And if you have a structure, there's a formula. There used to be a blueprint that you can build something. There's no blueprint anymore. Different things work."

In 2006, Rudy released the book "Off The Rails: Aboard The Crazy Train In The Blizzard Of Ozz", a first-hand account of his friendship on and off the road with Randy Rhoads and Ozzy Osbourne.

A collector's edition of "Off The Rails", was made available in August 2008 via TooSmart! Publishing.

The book was originally due in 2005 but was delayed after Sharon allegedly applied pressure to have it pulled.

Sarzo — who began playing bass for Osbourne in 1981 (the same year he toured with MOTÖRHEAD) — joined THE GUESS WHO in 2016. His first album with the group, "The Future IS What It Used To Be", was released in September 2018 via Cleopatra Records.

Paul Stanley has returned to the studio to put the finishing touches on the debut album from his R&B band SOUL STATION.

Earlier today, Stanley posted a photo of him wearing a mask in the studio, and he included the following message: "Day 2 in the studio finishing up Soul Station album and YES, We're ALL wearing masks. We do it for our families, children, hospital workers, first responders and many more. Tragic that for some there's no pandemic until it hits their home. Now we suffer the consequences."

This past May, Stanley released a cover version of Smokey Robinson's classic song "Ooo Baby Baby", recorded by SOUL STATION. In a statement accompanying the clip, Stanley said: "These are challenging times. Long before I ever heard the great British bands, I grew up listening to Philly Soul, Motown and so much more. I was lucky to see Otis Redding and Solomon Burke among others. That music and its storytelling gave me strength and hope even in some tough days. The great classics of that era are magical medicine for most and I felt myself drawn back to that era for some sorcery I think we could all use."

He added: "While it's hard to connect physically, some of SOUL STATION decided to reach out and make a virtual and emotional connection on a great Motown and Smokey Robinson classic, Ooo Baby Baby."

SOUL STATION has spent the last couple of years working on its debut album.

Last year, Stanley told the Real Radio 104.1 radio station that he wanted to wait for the right time to release the SOUL STATION LP. "It really deserves full attention and my full commitment," he explained. "So until we can do great live performances — the band is amazing live — and until we can promote it the way we should, it's just going to simmer. But it's really just mind-blowing good. These are songs that, for one reason or another, have been relegated to samples on a rap tune. And I don't wanna hear background music for a rhyme — I wanna hear those songs.'

He continued: "This band is 13 people strong, and everybody's played with Smokey and Stevie [Wonder] and THE TEMPS [THE TEMPTATIONS] and Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston, and we knock those songs out of the park."

Asked if he gets any hate from KISS fans for making an album that is stylistically far removed from the music his main band is best known for producing, Stanley said: "I'm sure there are some people who'd rather me doing a KISS album or something like that, but when you sign on with me, you understand that we're both in this together, and sometimes I have to do what I need to do. And that's part of the joy and the reward for me. So I would rather do a great SOUL STATION album right now than tamper with KISS or the KISS legacy and do something that I'm really not feeling at the moment."

A couple of years ago, Stanley spoke to Rock Cellar Magazine about how the idea for SOUL STATION first came about. He said: "Well, my roots are much more broad and varied than some people might realize. This is funny; I was having tea with Jimmy Page in London and we were talking about this. I said, 'Before I ever saw [LED] ZEPPELIN or THE WHO or any of those bands, I saw Otis Redding. I saw Solomon Burke. I saw THE TEMPTATIONS.' So it's very much a part of my DNA. Motown and Philly soul and Stax/Volt, all that music is really, unfortunately too nostalgic at this point and used too often for loops and samples as opposed to hearing a great song. What's missing nowadays so much is great live performances of that material. What's being passed off now as R&B is usually a computer and a drum machine. For a while, I thought about that, and I had an opportunity a few years ago to put together something that was in essence SOUL STATION. We did a couple of private shows and we all looked at each other said, 'Why aren't we doing more of this?' It's great to have that coming from people who are not only in demand but working all the time with Stevie Wonder or Smokey [Robinson] or Pink or John Mayer. These are real crème de la creme players but everybody has the same passion for this music. To be able to recreate it, not in a sterile way but with the same passion and intensity that it was made with is something that we all feel very close to."

Asked what the greatest challenges are that he faces in delivering this material in a live setting, Paul told Rock Cellar Magazine: "There's a big weight on my shoulders because I'm singing songs by some legends, and if I can't deliver them, I shouldn't be doing them. So if I'm gonna sing Smokey or if I'm gonna sing Al Green or David Ruffin or Eddie Kendricks, you'd better be on-point or you shouldn't be doing it, plus the rest of the band is so damn good. They have played with Smokey, they've played with Stevie Wonder, with Natalie Cole, they've played with Whitney Houston and John Mayer and with Carlos Santana; I mean, the list goes on and on. For us all to be together as peers and be creating something this exciting, everybody on stage is smiling. We're all just caught up in the moment. To hear Crystal [Starr] sing 'I Want You Back' is just mind-boggling. Her dad was a backup singer for Jackie Wilson. Everybody's got their roots. From the get-go, anybody I ever called to be a part of this immediately said, 'I'm in!' just to have the opportunity to recreate and revive these songs; you don't get that chance."

SOUL STATION made its live debut in September 2015 at West Hollywood, California's The Roxy Theatre. The band also features KISS drummer Eric Singer.

Doro Pesch is the world's first female rock musician to rock drive-in cinemas together with her fans. In June, the German metal queen's first drive-in cinema show in Worms created enthusiastic fan reactions and was followed by over 600,000 people worldwide via video stream. After another successful show in Stuttgart, Doro now invites her fans to Bühl on August 1 to her third and (for now) last drive-in cinema show. There, Doro will be rocking all of her famous hits such as "Für Immer", "Love Me In Black" and "All For Metal". The setlist may even contain the new single "Brickwall" as a surprise.

Doro says: "Over the last few months, I really missed my band and fans. The drive-in show has been a real unique experience and career highlight for me. That's why I'm really looking forward to the final show on August 1st in Brühl. We'll celebrate together and have a great time. It feels so good to be rocking alongside with you again. Hopefully, we can soon enjoy normal shows again as well."

For this last drive-in cinema show of the tour, Pesch will join forces with the streaming service Airtango.live, which will be streaming the gig from start to finish. For a fee of 5.99 euros, the user will get access to the whole concert for a month, plus additional Doro content, including greetings, behind-the-scenes clips and Doro videos.

Doro comments: "All the fans who can't be present at the show on August 1st in Brühl will have the chance to stream the gig from home."

"Brickwall" is now available digitally via Nuclear Blast and will be out on vinyl on July 31.The song was recorded in Hamburg with Andreas Bruhn (ex-THE SISTERS OF MERCY) and will also be available as coloured seven-inch vinyl in gold and silver, limited to 300 copies each.

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper spoke to Cleveland.com about the status of his new album, "Detroit Stories". The LP, which is once again being produced by Cooper's longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, features contributions by such Michigan talent as the MC5's Wayne Kramer, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's Mark Farner and Johnny "Bee" Badanjek of MITCH RYDER & THE DETROIT WHEELS. They also used the Detroit Horns and Detroit background singers.

"It's 99 percent done and just being polished," Alice said. "I'm really happy with this album. Right now [Ezrin] is just sitting at home listening to everything, going, 'Hmm, I wonder if we should re-do that bass?' or 'Let's try that third verse again' or 'Can we sing those three lines over again?' [Laughs] I want him at some point to put a lock and key on and it say 'It's done!,' but I trust him to tell us when it is."

This past May, Alice released a new single, "Don't Give Up". Produced by Ezrin using remote technology, the song is a spontaneous reaction to the challenges facing us all right now.

A strictly limited "Don't Give Up" seven-inch vinyl picture disc will be released on August 14 on earMUSIC.

Last September, Cooper released a six-track EP called "Breadcrumbs", described as a tribute to the garage-rock heroes of his hometown of Detroit.

Earlier in the month, Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated songwriter-producer Desmond Child, who is widely recognized as one of music's most accomplished hitmakers, revealed that he was working on new music with Cooper.

Child and Cooper previously collaborated on 1989's "Trash" album, including the smash hit "Poison", and the follow-up effort, 1991's "Hey Stoopid". The success of "Poison" helped make "Trash" Alice's biggest seller in more than a decade.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will perform their iconic album, "Core", in its entirety for an epic livestream event on Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST on Nugs.tv.

"Core", STP's breakout debut album features smash hits "Sex Type Thing", "Wicked Garden" and "Plush", which won the Grammy Award in 1994 for "Best Hard Rock Performance."

In addition to the "Core" livestream event, STP will release live audio from past shows beginning with August 3, 2011 at Hampton Beach Ballroom in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire with Scott Weiland, and June 13, 2019 in London, UK at O2 Forum Kentish Town with lead vocalist Jeff Gutt.

Gutt says about the 2019 London show: "The show at O2 Forum was my first time being in London. In fact, I had never been to Europe, so I was just trying to take in all the history and city vibes. STP hadn't been there in quite a while, so I remember the crowd being especially electric. There's something about when the lights go out and everyone knows that the show is about to begin, that really takes us all to a magical place together."

Gutt joined STONE TEMPLE PILOTS three years ago. His recording debut with the group was on its self-titled seventh LP, which arrived in March 2018.

Gutt, a 44-year-old Michigan native who spent time in the early-2000s nu-metal act DRY CELL, among other bands, and was a contestant on "The X Factor", joined STONE TEMPLE PILOTS in 2017 after beating out roughly 15,000 hopefuls during an extended search that began more than a year earlier.

Original STONE TEMPLE PILTOS singer Scott Weiland, who reunited with the group in 2010 after an eight-year hiatus but was dismissed in 2013, died in December 2015 of a drug overdose.

Chester Bennington, who joined STP in early 2013, departed nearly three years later to spend more time with his main band LINKIN PARK. Bennington committed suicide in July 2017.

The "classic" lineup of the Swedish heavy rock band SISTER SIN took part in a "Raw & Mean From Rehearsal" livestream on June 13. Liv Jagrell (vocals), Jimmy Hiltula (guitar), Andreas Strandh (bass) and Dave Sundberg (drums) ran through a 13-song set that focused heavily on SISTER SIN's 2010 album "True Sound Of The Underground" (from which the band played five cuts), along with one track from "Switchblade Serenades" (2008), three from "Now And Forever" (2012) and four from "Black Lotus" (2014).

After announcing its reunion last December, SISTER SIN was scheduled to perform at the Gefle Metal Festival in Gävle, Sweden and Helgeåfestivalen in Knislinge, Sweden in early July, but those plans have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

At the end of last year, Jagrell revealed that her post-SISTER SIN outfit LIV SIN was "taking a little bit of a break" following the departures of guitarist Chris Bertzell and bassist Tommie Winther. The pair explained in a statement that their exit had been "in development for a while."

SISTER SIN announced its split in November 2015, saying in a statement that the band's "relentless" touring and recording schedule took its toll and "the motivation for some members just wasn't there anymore." However, the group left the door open for a possible comeback, saying: "It is our hope that the flame will burn once again and hopefully resurrect this Swedish bastard sometime in the future. Time will tell…"

Five years ago, Liv told Sleaze Roxx about the end of SISTER SIN: "We toured too much and we got burned out. That's the simple answer. They just felt like they did not want to do this anymore. [In 2015], we had been out for almost four months or something so it's a lot of time away from family. It's a lot of time away from friends. And also just to survive in the business is hard, so I think we maybe worked too hard in the last years."

SISTER SIN's fifth studio album, "Black Lotus", was released in October 2014 via Victory.

LIV SIN released two full-length albums, "Follow Me" (2017) and "Burning Sermons" (2019), as well as one EP, "Inverted" (2018).

NEW YEARS DAY singer Ash Costello has entered the studio to begin work on the the follow-up to 2019's "Unbreakable" album.

Earlier today, Costello posted a photo of her and co-producer Scott Stevens (HALESTORM, SHINEDOWN) in the studio wearing masks, and she included the following message: "recording in 2020 DAY 1- I have so much to say and I've found my voice now more than ever. Back in @exiesscott studio (masks and shields of course) the man that helped create #Unbreakable along with @mitcheymitch .... I am so ready to create more magic. I'm not the person you think that I am. Leave some [love] if you're ready for new music"

Costello recently confirmed to U.K.'s Rock Sound that NEW YEARS DAY has been using the coronavirus downtime to start work on material for its new LP. Speaking about how the creative process is taking place, Ash said: "I actually just talked to one of my producers yesterday. So it really depends on the producer's comfort level. I've seen musicians online in the studio with a producer with a mask on or whatnot. But his studio is in his house, and his wife, she does not want musicians coming in and out. I totally respect it — I respect that completely; who knows where we've been? So it really depends on the producer. In this particular case, he can't have people over, so we thought we're gonna buy me some recording gear and he's gonna take over my screen and do, like, mirroring and do all of the engineering and I'll just have to sing… I was, like, 'I don't have to sit in L.A. traffic. Why haven't we always been doing this? It's way better.'"

According to Ash, she and her bandmates have discussed the possibility of composing new music over Zoom.

"When we're together, there's a vibe, and that's really what is driving the song forward," she said. "You have to be there, feeling it out and getting excited or seeing the vibe, like, 'Oh, maybe that wasn't a good idea.' You feel stuff. So it's definitely going to be different. It's going to be new — that's for sure."

Asked how she stays creative in a time like this, Ash said: "I can only speak personally for me, but I feel just as creative as I ever have. And what's nice is I just have a little bit more downtime to focus on it, so that's actually pretty helpful."

This past May, NEW YEARS DAY released the official music video for "Skeletons". The song is taken from "Unbreakable", which was released in April 2019 to critical acclaim. The band enlisted powerhouse producers Mitchell Marlow (ALL THAT REMAINS, IN THIS MOMENT) and Stevens to create an album that combines heavy rock with pop sensibilities.

This past January, NEW YEARS DAY released "Through The Years", a limited-edition box set featuring all seven of NEW YEARS DAY's albums on custom-colored vinyl, a Blu-ray of their beloved music videos and a four-page picture book of never-before-seen photos of Ash and NEW YEARS DAY from their humble beginnings. The photos were handpicked and the captions were hand written by Costello.

The At The Movies project - launched by Pretty Maids guitarist Chris Laney due to the COVID-19 lockdown - caught fire over the last several months, with many fans asking that the '80s soundtrack covers be made available as digital platform streams, or on CD and vinyl. On top of that, there has been a call for the project to continue, which Laney and his colleagues have confirmed is in the works. Helix frontman Brian Vollmer has checked in with the following update:

"Last week we finished up the video for "Eat Sleep Rock". The video was shot by (former guitarist) Brent Doerner of Red D films at his studio in Kitchener, Ontario. Partially because of the Coronavirus, we had to film each band member separately. We also decided to go with green screen and use an 'effect' that Brent had been working on for a while. Well, the results were incredible and all my band guys put in great performances. As usual Brent was amazing with his video work.

We're going to be having the world premiere for the video at 8:00pm on August 1st, a Saturday night. That's the release date for the CD through Perris Records in the US and Europe. In Canada, the album only comes out on vinyl for now."

Vollmer previously commented on the Eat Sleep Rock album:

"Eat Sleep Rock is a compilation of my favorite songs we've recorded since leaving Capitol/E.M.I. in 1990. The title track is previously unreleased. Also on this album is 'The Story Of Helix', a rap I wrote a couple of years ago to kick off the acoustic show.

The album was mastered by Harry Hess of Harem Scarem. Harry is one of the best mastering guys in Canada right now. Daryl recorded the two new tracks at his Dawghouse Studios and Siegfried Meier, who has a Juno under his belt, did the mix. The artwork was executed by the one and only Doctor Doerner. The back cover shot (which Brent manipulated in photo shop) was filmed by Victor Azziz Studios. Victor has done all our photography for years... he's the best.

One of the songs on Eat Sleep Rock is 'I'm A Live Frankenstein'. I wrote this song with Bill Gadd and Tony Paleschi for my first solo album, When Pigs Fly, in 2000. The video was shot by Ray Lyell (of Ray Lyell & The Storm) at the Conestoga Dam, in Hanover at the local theatre, and outside of Hamilton at the farm of the parent's of my friend Al Packham of the group Animate. Many of my friends and students participated in the filming: Archie Gamble was the bartender, Dereck Cummings was the mad scientist, and so on. For some of the live stuff we were 8 stories down inside the Conestoga Dam, between Elmira and Listowel. It was a low budget affair but I have to look back at it with fond memories. Sometimes the cheapest stuff looks the most honest years down the road. You have to use your noggin a lot more when you don't have money.

So here it is: 'I'm A Live Frankenstein', initially from the Vollmer album When Pigs Fly, released 2000. This will be one of the tracks on our upcoming album Eat Sleep Rock."

Marilyn Manson will release his eleventh studio album, "We Are Chaos", on September 11 Via Loma Vista Recordings. Produced by Grammy Award winner Shooter Jennings (Brandi Carlile, Tanya Tucker) and Manson, the ten-track opus was written, recorded, and finished before a pandemic blanketed us all. Manson heralds the record's arrival with the title track and lead single, "We Are Chaos", released today. The accompanying video is directed, photographed and edited by Matt Mahurin.

Manson's painting Infinite Darkness, which can be seen on the album cover, was specifically created to accompany the music. His fine art paintings continue to be shown all over the world, including gallery and museum exhibitions from Miami to Vienna to Moscow.

Manson says of the album: "When I listen to 'We Are Chaos' now, it seems like just yesterday or as if the world repeated itself, as it always does, making the title track and the stories seem as if we wrote them today. This was recorded to its completion without anyone hearing it until it was finished. There is most definitely a side A and side B in the traditional sense. But just like an LP, it is a flat circle and it's up to the listener to put the last piece of the puzzle into the picture of songs.

"This concept album is the mirror Shooter and I built for the listener — it's the one we won't stare into. There are so many rooms, closets, safes and drawers. But in the soul or your museum of memories, the worst are always the mirrors. Shards and slivers of ghosts haunted my hands when I wrote most of these lyrics.

"Making this record, I had to think to myself: 'Tame your crazy, stitch your suit. And try to pretend that you are not an animal' but I knew that mankind is the worst of them all. Making mercy is like making murder. Tears are the human body's largest export."

"We Are Chaos" is the follow up to Manson's 2017 album, "Heaven Upside Down", which marked his seventh consecutive Top 10 debut on the album charts.

In April 2019, Manson said that his upcoming album was nearly done, later adding that he wouldn't compare his new record to his past work.

"I'm in a mode in life where I wanted to tell stories with this record, and it's sort of like a wax museum of my thoughts, a study of the chamber of horrors in my head," he said. "All the romance and hope you can have in the world, here in the End Times where it can be a different kind of apocalypse for each person listening to the record. I tried to paint it with words, and Shooter with sounds, so you can see and hear all of your longing, your passion and despair. That's sort of a dramatic explanation of it. But it is full of drama. I wouldn't compare it to any of my other records, but you hear a bit of everything. It's like I've focused everything into one spot, finally."

Manson's guitarist Paul Wiley also appears on the new disc, as well as his new drummer, Brandon Pertzborn (of BLACK FLAG, DOYLE and HO99O9).

Manson and Jennings previously teamed up in 2016 to record a cover version of "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" for Jennings's "Countach (For Giorgio)" LP, a covers collection featuring songs by electronic-music pioneer Giorgio Moroder.

Manson continues to infiltrate fashion, film, and music, leaving his fingerprints on modern culture. Saint Laurent tapped him for a campaign, Travis Scott personally invited him to perform at the sold-out Astroworld festival, GQ named him one of the most fashionable men of 2019, he appeared as an actor in everything from "Sons Of Anarchy" to "American Gods" to "The New Pope", and also co-headlined several "Twins Of Evil" tours with Rob Zombie.

Video of California rockers PAPA ROACH performing the song "Between Angels & Insects" as part of their second live streaming experience iteration called "Infest In-Studio" can be seen below. The program was a special virtually ticketed, live HD broadcast, which took place June 20 from Sacramento, and it featured PAPA ROACH performing its multi-platinum, classic album "Infest", live in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary, along with exclusive discussions and reflections in a unique studio environment.

"We couldn't take not performing any longer," said frontman Jacoby Shaddix. "Having performed the 'Infest' album in full as a surprise one time before (during the band's sold-out 2015 gig at London's Roundhouse on the album's 15th anniversary), we decided to open this infestation to every living-room in the world to celebrate the 20th anniversary with us!"

PAPA ROACH's first live streaming event, "Infest In-Conversation", broadcast on the 20th anniversary of "Infest"'s release (April 25, 2020), drew 1.8 million live viewers on five platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and VK. That program featured the band showing rare videos and photos and reminiscing with each other for nearly four hours along with members of DEFTONES, LINKIN PARK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, KORN, as well as with Dave Buckner (the band's original drummer and founding member) and director Marcos Siega (Grammy-nominated director of the "Last Resort" and "Broken Home" music videos).

"Infest In-Studio" was co-produced by Papa Roach Productions and 10th Street Entertainment and directed by Push. It is available for streaming exclusively via VierLive.com.

"Infest" peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for sales in excess of three million copies in the U.S. alone. The album featured the iconic hits "Last Resort" and "Broken Home" plus fan favorites "Blood Brothers" and "Between Angels & Insects".

This past February, Shaddix said that plans were afoot for PAPA ROACH to mark the LP's two-decade milestone.

"That's our classic," he said. "That thing, it's given us such a relevance, even in pop culture. People are making memes — 'Cut my life into pizza.' I love that. 'Cause now I don't take it all too seriously, because it's embedded itself into pop culture, but then also the reality is that it's spoken to a lot of people's hearts that have been in that darkness, and going, 'Hey, man, there's some hope. You can come out of this. You don't have to stay in there.'"

Earlier in the year, PAPA ROACH completed a European tour with ICE NINE KILLS and HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD.

In 1980, off the back of two essential albums, Overkill and Bomber the previous year, Motörhead continued to get bigger, better, louder and faster by the second. This time, on Ace Of Spades they teamed up with producer Vic Maile and came up with twelve songs; each and every one of which crams a regular band’s ten minutes of playing into an average of three. The song titles alone made ears bleed; “Love Me Like A Reptile”, “Shoot You In The Back”, “The Chase Is Better Than The Catch” and “The Hammer” were a few examples. This landmark album saw the three amigos of Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor at the helm of the juggernaut that was Motörhead, gaining phenomenal growth in popularity as they forged onward. The band’s and fans ideas, wants and inspirations, converged at a perfect tangent. Anyone disputing this fact need look no further than any heavy metal gig of the time and play ‘spot the Motörhead T-shirt and jacket’. They outnumbered anyone else by at least five to one. A statistic that is still accurate some forty five years since they first began!

The Ace Of Spades album release was a magical moment in rock ‘n’ roll history, an album which had enormous global impact and continues to resonate and inspire people worldwide. Fans to this day still remember where they were when they first heard it, and it immediately inspired bands worldwide to absorb the album’s energy, speed, and attitude into their own work. Ace Of Spades is ground zero for thrash, speed metal, and punk / metal crossover.

Finland's Memoira is set to release their third studio album, Carnival Of Creation, on September 25th via Inverse Records. The band has released a new single and music video for the title track. Check it out below.

The band comments:

"'Carnival Of Creation' must be one of the most epic songs we have ever written. The lyrical theme is about discovering the art, the music, literature and everything that requires creative thought process. How everything develops through history and how the styles vary in different cultures. It's a rollercoaster of a song that dives within creative thinking, where everything is like this huge market square where you can come across with a plethora of creative ideas. We are really happy how the song turned out and it describes the album perfectly."

Memoira hails from Pori / Jyväskylä, Finland, playing symphonic / gothic metal. They have released two albums worldwide (Memoira 2009 through Nightmare records and Memories, Tragedies, Masquerades 2012 as a self-release) and after a four-year hiatus, the band is releasing their third album, Carnival Of Creation, through Inverse Records.

German brutal death metallers Cytotoxin have unveiled a new taste of their new LP Nuklearth, set for release on August 21 via Unique Leader Records. Stream “Dominus” below.

During the night of April 26 in 1986 a world-changing accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Inspired by this catastrophe and its consequences, Cytotoxin first pulverized the death metal world in 2010.

In 2011 the band released their self-produced full-length album Plutonium Heaven, and the following year they entered Kohlekeller Studios (Aborted, Benighted) to forge their highly appreciated second record Radiophobia. Since the release of Radiophobia via Unique Leader Records in 2012, Cytotoxin continually toured the clubs and festivals of Europe. In January 2017 the band returned to Kohlekeller Studios to record their highly anticipated third album Gammageddon, which was released later that year. 

Ready to conquer the world with their new weapon Nuklearth, you better keep your gasmask at hand.

Italian power metallers From The Depth are sharing their second single "Immortal" off their second full-length album Moments, set for release on August 28, 2020 via Rockshots Records. The track features guest keyboards by Dave Castro and Oreste Giacomini along with the ending choir vocal line by Alessandro Karabelas.

The band adds:

"This is the song that was the most ‘anticipated’ by fans during our latest live shows and then became a must in every setlist. It’s a real hymn with its solid main riff and keyboard melodies. During the last stages of production, we finalized everything with the choir, recorded with all our vocalist friends, and we got exactly what we were looking for... a majestic arrangement for a solid metal riffing.”

Punchy and aggressive, fans who have been waiting since 2014’s EP Perseverance, are now rewarded with From The Depth's new 10 track album. Entitled Moments, the full length is a series of personal occasions in the band members' lives that they are reliving through their music, from hard times to the anniversary of the group forming.

In the band’s own words: “Moments is a way to celebrate relevant memories and episodes of everyday life while time passes by. Each aspect of the production has been taken care of with extreme attention to detail from song structure to the final master; nothing has been left to chance and we did our best to get out the most from each session during songwriting.”

After years of hard times, they are now fully operational with a killer stable lineup, and with the new partnership with Rockshots Records, From the Depth is ready to show fans what they have been working on. Starting as a power metal cover band with a distinct “melodic mindset”, From The Depth has come a long way since 2008, and the maturity and refinement really show in this new chapter.

The long-in-the-works solo album from QUEENSRŸCHE singer Todd La Torre is currently being mixed for a late 2020 release via Rat Pak Records.

On Monday (July 27), La Torre tweeted: "Listening to latest mixes of my solo record, sounds awesome! @ratpakrecords #worldwidesoon"

This past March, Todd said he would use the coronavirus downtime to write or co-write a few more tunes and "shape up existing songs/demos" for his solo album with his lifelong best friend Craig Blackwell. He also said that he and his QUEENSRŸCHE bandmates would take advantage of the time away from the road "to work on new ideas" for the follow-up to 2019's "The Verdict".

La Torre previously talked about his plans to release a solo LP in a 2017 interview with Canada's The Metal Voice. He stated about the direction of the material that will appear on the record: "Musically, it is probably, like, FIGHT meets PANTERA meets BLACK LABEL [SOCIETY]. It's definitely got that kind of southern… You know, PANTERA had that certain power groove — not full-fledged [speed], but has thrash elements. And then vocally, I'm singing probably a lot more chest voice, and then I've got some brutal gutteral vocals on it… That'll be a lot more brutal and more thrash, but the vocals are definitely more a power-metal, operatic kind of a thing — very aggressive…"

QUEENSRŸCHE spent a year touring in support of "The Verdict", which was released in March 2019 via Century Media Records.

"The Verdict" marked QUEENSRŸCHE's third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of original singer Geoff Tate in 2012.

The current QUEENSRŸCHE lineup features two original members, bassist Eddie Jackson and guitarist Michael Wilton, along with La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren.

QUEENSRŸCHE will support the SCORPIONS on the German hard rock legends' Las Vegas residency in May 2021 (rescheduled from July 2020).

KORN has released a cover of THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND classic "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", featuring a guest appearance by rapper YelaWolf, exclusively via Bandcamp.

All proceeds from the track will be donated to Awakening Youth, a nonprofit organization devoted to young people faced with the loss of a parent due to divorce, addiction, death, being surrendered for adoption, or other reasons.

Over a galloping bounce, the band rip dueling guitar leads as distortion bleeds into eerie feedback. Frontman Jonathan Davis tears through this timeless story, trading off verses with YelaWolf as they take on the roles of "The Devil" and "Johnny." The fiddle battle for Johnny's soul has never sounded quite like this. Recorded during the sessions for the critically acclaimed chart-topping epic "The Nothing", the track honors the late Charlie Daniels.

"I've always said it, but country music is some of the darkest ever," said Davis. "Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and, of course, Charlie Daniels all turned pain into some really powerful music that sounded alive. 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' is a classic story, and we wanted to release it now to help others in need."

This continues the relationship between KORN and Awakening Youth. The organization figured prominently in the documentary "Loud Krazy Love" about guitarist and co-founder Brian "Head" Welch. Awakening Youth fulfills a mission to uplift at-risk young men and women in the wake of losing a parent. The team offers one-on-one individualized support to personally encourage and motivate and, ultimately, restore families.

"The Nothing" was released last September via Roadrunner/Elektra. The follow-up to 2016's "The Serenity Of Suffering" was once again produced by Nick Raskulinecz.

KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told Dread Central about "The Nothing": "We put a whole year into this record. That's something we hadn't done since 'Untouchables' in 2002. So, we really sat with these songs, lived with them, had time to reflect on them, and then went back and worked on them some more. We didn't rush it through just to put something out in order to get back on tour. I know a lot of bands do that; we've done it in the past too — I'm guilty. But this time we wanted to spend time with our families and take our time to make some great music. So, we spaced things out and really enjoyed being in the moment."

Jeff Scott Soto says that he left Yngwie Malmsteen's band more than three decades ago because he realized "you don't really work with Yngwie; you work for Yngwie."

Soto, who sang on Yngwie's first two albums, 1984's "Rising Force" and 1985's "Marching Out", discussed his relationship with the legendary Swedish guitarist during a recent interview with "That Metal Interview With James".

Asked if Malmsteen was "difficult to work with," Soto said: "One thing I had to learn early on is you don't really work with Yngwie; you work for Yngwie. And this is one of the reasons why I left early on.

"I'm so used to working with people — we craft, we build, we formulate together. And I realized I was joining a situation where the main focus was the guitar player — it was his career, it was his band, it was his vision," he continued. "But I really thought his vision would start with getting the best people he can surround himself with and then we would grow together and we would build his vision together, and it would become our vision. That was my first mistake.

"As we went along, I realized you don't work with Yngwie; you work for Yngwie. And when I realized I really don't wanna work for somebody, even back then when we were getting very little credit when we were not even getting paid the really tiny salary that we were promised, all of my delusions of grandeur just went right out the window. I just said, 'This is not for me. I don't have respect…' I'm not talking about just Yngwie; I'm talking about overall. There was no focus from the record company or management. There was no focus even from the fans — everything was Yngwie, Yngwie, Yngwie. And I'm, like, 'I'm putting the same effort as I put into any band that I would be in, and I am getting zero return from it.'"

Jeff added: "I wanted something where I can get out of it what I'm putting into it, and that's the main reason why I left him. It had nothing to do with I didn't like the music or we had a fight. It just basically came down to, I missed being in a band, I missed sharing everything — even in the fact that I was the only American in the band. You get off stage and you normally get backstage, you're sweaty and you're laughing about what happened in the show — 'Hey, did you see that girl when she lifted her top?' — all that kind of stuff that you're used to. But with his band, we'd get off stage and the four of them start speaking in Swedish and I felt left out. 'Man, can we talk in English just so I can [understand] the conversation?'

"So, yeah, it kind of sucked for me in that sense. I was young, I was green, I was inexperienced. I deal with those situations way differently now."

Three years ago, Soto engaged in a war of words with Yngwie over the fact that Malmsteen claimed in an interview that he "always wrote everything," including the lyrics and melodies, and simply hired various vocalists to sing his material. Soto later told the "US American Made Guitars" show that "it's false information" to suggest that he contributed nothing to Yngwie's early albums "because we co-wrote [some of] those songs together. I actually authored those songs," he said. "For him to say, 'I wrote every lyric, every melody,' it's absolute falsity. And he's speaking out of whatever anger or whatever throwaway conversation he might be having, but when it's put on text, it comes across as very crude and very arrogant. So, of course, I don't take that kind of stuff too personally."

MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine took part in a "Virtual Mega Happy Hour" on Friday, July 24 from his home in Franklin, Tennessee via the Instagram account of Megadeth Beer. You can now watch video of the entire session below.

Asked by one viewer how the new MEGADETH album is coming along, Mustaine said: "The new record's coming along great. We've had a lot of setbacks, like cancer, but I think that we're doing great. I'm sure you guys will be surprised, and hopefully you'll like what you hear."

As for a possible release date for the LP, Dave said: "I don't know. We're still working on it. We're trying to decide how many songs are supposed to be on the record. We've got about eight songs, and then a couple of cover songs."

Mustaine also talked about MEGADETH's touring plans, saying: "Hopefully this corona stuff will be over soon and we'll be piecing together our tour routing. We've got dates set up for next year, and we'll be hopefully seeing a lot of you guys and bringing along a lot of MEGADETH beer too. So I'm sure you guys are looking forward to us getting out there and touring as much as we are."

He continued: "It's been a long time since we've toured, and just seeing all these people out there that wanna be entertained, and all this stuff with virtual concerts from their homes and stuff like drive-in movie concerts and stuff, yeah, that's all great, but I think us, as musicians, we wanna play, we wanna be in front of you and have that feeling. We wanna see you drinking the beers and we wanna see you raising your fist in the air and saying, 'Hell yeah.' So be smart, you guys. Wash you hands, wear your mask, keep your social distancing and drink lots of MEGADETH beer."

Mustaine recently told SiriusXM's Jose Mangin that the upcoming MEGADETH album will be "up there with 'Countdown [To Extinction]', 'Rust In Peace' and probably 'Peace Sells'" and "Dystopia".

The early sessions for MEGADETH's new LP took place last year with co-producer Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on "Dystopia".

MEGADETH's new effort will be the first to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren (ex-SOILWORK), who joined the band four years ago.

Guitarist Kiko Loureiro made his recording debut with MEGADETH on "Dystopia", whose title track was honored in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

As previously reported, MEGADETH's North American tour with LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES has been rescheduled for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
