ALCEST Sign To Nuclear Blast; Currently Working On New Album

ALCEST Sign To Nuclear Blast; Currently Working On New Album

Alcest have signed to Nuclear Blast Records and are currently working on their sixth, as of yet untitled, studio album.

Founded in 2000 by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Neige and joined by drummer Winterhalter in 2009, Alcest have become the pioneers of blackgaze, a unique and virtuosic mixture of post (black) metal and shoegaze. With a dreamy, otherworldly sound full of contrasts mixing rough darkness and soft melodies, the band forged five full length releases and went from black metal beginnings to the eerie pop on Shelter and further on to 2016’s Kodama inspired by the Japanese anime Princess Mononoke. Alcest’s fans always expect the unexpected from a duo that never ceased to explore new worlds, dive into their own imagination and create a truly magical universe through each played note.

After constantly touring the world and bewitching all the different corners of Europe, America, Asia and Australia, the French duo is ready to once again move on to pastures new and has now signed a worldwide contract with Nuclear Blast Records.

Nuclear Blast’s head of A&R, Andy Siry, states: "Alcest have always been a band that never followed anyone’s footsteps and forged a completely new music genre by following the sound of their most hidden dreams. Therefore we are more than happy to join them along their path, support them on a worldwide level, and see where their next album will guide us to. Bienvenue à Donzdorf, Neige et Winterhalter!"

The two masterminds are currently at Drudenhaus Studio in Nantes, putting the final touches to the recordings of their upcoming sixth studio album that will see the light later in 2019.

Alcest comment: "We are happy to start a new chapter of our journey by signing a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. We are in the studio at the moment, working on our 6th album and feel really excited about releasing this record with the help of our new partners. We will also start playing live again from May this year, so keep an eye on the dates!"

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE Discuss Band Lineup In New Veleno Album Trailer; Video

Italian orchestral-death metal and renaissance revivalists, Fleshgod Apocalypse, will make their triumphant return this year with the release of their 5th studio album, Veleno, on May 24 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has released a new trailer for the record, in which Francesco Paoli discusses their current lineup, returning to lead vocals for the first time since 2009 and the role of drumming in the band.

Italian for venom, Veleno marks Fleshgod Apocalypse’s first record in three years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record King (2016). The “metal part” of Veleno was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the “orchestral part” - the ensembles - were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of Veleno took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith.

MIND KEY To Release MK III - Aliens In Wonderland Album In July; "Alien in Wonderland" Music Video Streaming

MIND KEY To Release MK III - Aliens In Wonderland Album In July; "Alien in Wonderland" Music Video Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of Italian prog metal band Mind Key’s long awaited third album, MK III - Aliens In Wonderland, on July 12.  Today, the first single and video, "Alien In Wonderland" has been released. Watch the clip below. Pre-order MK III - Aliens In Wonderland and stream the single here.

MKIII - Aliens in Wonderland marks the return of one of the most gifted Italian progressive metal outfits to the scene after a nine year absence. Formed in Napoli in 1999 by Dario De Cicco (keyboards) and Emanuele Colella (guitars), the two wanted to create a band that melded the sound of bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X, Evergrey, and Pain of Salvation with a songwriting approach inspired by '80/'90s hard rock style.

Mind Key released their debut album, Journey Of A Rough Diamond, in July 2004 on the Frontiers label. The band played various gigs in support of the album’s release, including shows with Dream Theater, Vision Divine, and Pendragon, among others. They then began work on their second album, Pulse For A Graveheart. Released in 2009, the album saw the band refining their songwriting approach and introduced their new singer, Aurelio Fierro. Fierro was truly able to showcase his vocal potential on the album, which can be described as a powerful mix of Ronnie James Dio, David Coverdale, and Jorn Lande.

Pulse For A Graveheart grew the band's fanbase along with touring for the album which included shows with Edguy, Vanden Plas, Europe, and Hammerfall. However, the band went on an unexpected hiatus afterwards. "On the one hand, you could say the delay was because we simply took the right time to write the songs and work harder on the arrangements and final product,” says Dario De Cicco “but on the other hand, we also had to face some lineup changes and with Emanuele and Lucio moving abroad for some time things became more complicated. I also had to face a severe illness in 2014, but I overcame the hurdle and I'm stronger than ever right now! Aurelio also spent some time with “The Voice” Italy TV show, which cause further delays. So, quite a lot of things happened, but our motivation and desire to accomplish this musical mission we began got the better of us and here we are!"

The band is joined on this album by new members bassist Lucio Grilli (ex-Soul Secret) and drummer Mirko De Maio (The Flower Kings, Hangarvain).

MK III - Aliens in Wonderland can be described as a further evolutionary step in Mind Key’s sound. "We all had a metal/hard rock/prog backgrounds, but we felt that our playing style was changing towards a more direct and concise approach,” says Lucio Grilli. "And our way to conceive the songs was influenced as well. In addition to that, we were also looking for something more suitable for Aurelio's powerful voice, something closer to rock/metal to fully let his voice be heard. It's more natural for us to talk about MK simply as a melodic metal band than a prog metal one."

Guitarist Emanuele Colella concludes, “The current line-up is the best one to achieve our goal to create the perfect mix of melodic rock, progressive metal, and classic hard rock. What made everything different and better was the alchemy, walking in the same exact direction. This, I really think, makes MKIII - Aliens in Wonderland truly special!”

CHRIS CAFFERY - "Hard To Believe It's Been 25 Years Since The Release Of The Very First DOCTOR BUTCHER Record"

CHRIS CAFFERY - "Hard To Believe It's Been 25 Years Since The Release Of The Very First DOCTOR BUTCHER Record"

Savatage / Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist Chris Caffery has checked in with the following:

"Hard to believe it’s been 25 years since the release of the very first Doctor Butcher record. This song ('Help! Police?') is on the Demos release. It has myself and Jon Oliva, and on bass and drums it has Hal Patino and Gene Barnett. These were recorded at the famous Kajem Studios in PA. This recording was at least a year before we recorded the actual record. I think I was 23 years old when I wrote the music for this song and recorded this demo!

At the time we were writing there was a lot of stories in the news about police brutality and this song fit very well into our habit of writing about the dark side of the world with Butcher. Plus, as a long haired male I always seemed to be pulled over for no reason at all when I was driving. I never did any drugs, never will... but they were always searching for them! Still do! I remember the classic lines back then like...'So what’s in that Altoids box?' Of course my answer was 'Ummm...Altoids' and that always seemed to frustrate them even more!

The lead guitars were on my ‘57 Gibson Les Paul that I foolishly sold a few years later..."

Australia's ENVENOMED Sign With Germany's El Puerto Records

Australia's ENVENOMED Sign With Germany's El Puerto Records

The pirate label El Puerto Records has signed Australian crushers Envenomed in Australia. Active since 2005, the band is now making the leap from Melbourne to Europe.

Band leader Anthony Mavrikis: "Envenomed are very proud to announce that we have signed to El Puerto Records of Germany! Their professionalism and hard work from all of our dealings with the guys there have been second to none! With artists in their stable such as Beasto Blanco (with Chuck Garric and Calico Cooper, daughter of Alice Cooper), Sainted Sinners (with David Reece / ex-Accept), Frank Pané, Ferdy Doernberg, and label co-owner Torsten Ihlenfeld of Brainstorm in the fold, we're happy to be in their capable hands!"

Label boss Bernd Stelzer points out yet another challenge: "Envenomed came up with a great album and we are looking forward to release it as part of their European tour. The past Skype conferences with Down Under were exotic and at interesting times ... now it's time to meet the guys in person finally."

More news about the album and tour dates coming soon!

Tom Nugara - bass
Brendan Farrugia - guitars

JOHN CORABI: 'Whether I Like It Or Not, I'm The Other Singer For MÖTLEY CRÜE'

JOHN CORABI: 'Whether I Like It Or Not, I'm The Other Singer For MÖTLEY CRÜE'

Prior to his acoustic performance in Teaneck, New Jersey on March 17, former MÖTLEY CRÜE and current THE DEAD DAISIES frontman John Corabi spoke with Rock Scene magazine. The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On joining the CRÜE:

John: "A fan gave me this magazine called Spin, and Nikki Sixx [bass] was on the cover. He was doing this interview, and at the very end, the guy — whoever he did the interview with — said, 'So, what do you listen to when you're not... whatever.' He went on this long tangent about how much he loved THE SCREAM, and it was so weird. I called their management company just to thank Nikki for the plug, and as rumor has it — this is what they told me — the day that I was calling in to thank them for the plug, Nikki and Tommy [Lee, drums] were on the other line talking to Doug Thaler, the manager, saying, 'I really wish we could get a hold of the guy from THE SCREAM.' They were trying to track me down when I called in. [Someone] ran into the office — she's like, 'I've got his phone number! He just called!' She gave them my number, and when I hung the phone up, I was getting ready to go leave and do a gig and the phone rang. They literally called me back in, like, three minutes. That was a Friday in 1992 — February 12th — and they called me immediately, we chit-chatted for a minute and then they said, 'Listen, dude. We don't want to beat around the bush. Vince [Neil] is out' — they didn't tell me why — '[and] we'd love for you to come down on Monday and jam with us.' I went down on Monday, walked into this room and I sang 'Shout At The Devil', 'Live Wire', 'Dr. Feelgood' and then the three covers — 'Jailhouse Rock', 'Smoking In The Boys Room' and 'Helter Skelter'. Then they asked me to come back the next day, and I went in the next day and we did the same thing. There was a bunch of lawyers and managers and all this other stuff there, and Heather Locklear [Tommy Lee's then-wife] and Brandi Brandt [Nikki Sixx's then-wife] were there. They all left, [and] then we started jamming. We actually wrote almost all of 'Hammered' and part of the acoustic part of 'Misunderstood', and that's when they said, 'Dude, you're in. You're the guy.'"

On parting ways with the band after Neil rejoined:

John: "The one thing I can say [is] I'm not usually a bitter person, so I always try to look at things... I know it's stupid — some people look at the glass half empty, some look at it half full. Looking at it half-full, there was only two singers in MÖTLEY, me and Vince, and I'm still here, 25 years later. And whether I like it or not, I'm the other singer for MÖTLEY CRÜE, and not to sound weird, but I've gotten a lot of extra mileage, I think, out of my career because of it, so I have nothing but positive things to say. I had a great time with the guys. I mean, the break-up was a little weird — and when I say 'break-up,' it wasn't even a break-up. They were bringing Vince back; I get it. The only thing that bothered me in the whole situation was [that] I kind of felt like I lost a few friends because of it. When you're in the circle, you are in the circle, and when you're out of the circle, you are out of the circle. That's the only thing I miss in that whole thing — being able to hang out and just go to a club with my buddies, or hang out, go have a beer or whatever. That was, like, the biggest thing, but I had a great time. I'm very proud of the music that we wrote together, and like I said, I think in some ways it's actually... I don't want to say enhanced, [but] elongated my career, [and] gave me some longevity."

On having no regrets:

John: "I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. One door shuts and another one opens, and you just kind of follow that path. My path has been a little curvy, but it is what it is. It's all good."

Corabi joined MÖTLEY CRÜE in 1992 and fronted the band until they reunited with Vince Neil in 1997. From there, he joined forces with former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick and drummer Brent Fitz (SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS) in UNION. He then briefly re-teamed with Sixx in BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION before spending several years performing with RATT. In 2015, he joined THE DEAD DAISIES, a group with which he has released three albums, most recently 2018's "Burn It Down".

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS: 'I Have Nothing Ever Bad To Say About' JUDAS PRIEST

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS: 'I Have Nothing Ever Bad To Say About' JUDAS PRIEST

Tim "Ripper" Owens says that he had the time of his life as the singer of JUDAS PRIEST.

Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band, 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition", before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.

In a recent interview with Australia's Mal, Owens was asked what memories he has of his seven-year stint with JUDAS PRIEST.

"[It was] amazing," he said (hear audio below). "Great memories, great friends. I had the time of my life. They opened up all the doors for me to do what I do now. They're just great guys. I had so much fun in my time with JUDAS PRIEST. I have nothing ever bad to say about 'em. [It was] just amazing.

"I'll tell you what the thing was: we were friends," he continued. "I had never been in a band that I was so much friends with. It's weird 'cause when I first walked in there… I idolized them in the '80s when I was younger; they were my only thing I listened to in the '80s. Obviously, I wasn't quite the stalking fan [by the time I joined the band], but we became friends right away — we were family right away. I'd never been like that. We did everything together. So, yeah, it was just a great time."

Owens currently tours the world as a solo artist and performs as the lead singer of several bands, including SPIRITS OF FIRE, CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED, A NEW REVENGE, DIO DISCIPLES and THE THREE TREMORS. Additionally, the movie "Rock Star" (Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston) was loosely based on Owens's time in JUDAS PRIEST.

Earlier this year, the Ohio-based singer told "Talking Metal" that JUDAS PRIEST's management requested that he stop using artwork related to his time with the group to promote his solo shows.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Frontman DANNY WORSNOP To Release 'Shades Of Blue' Solo Album In May

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Frontman DANNY WORSNOP To Release 'Shades Of Blue' Solo Album In May

ASKING ALEXANDRIA frontman Danny Worsnop will release a new solo album, "Shades Of Blue", on May 10 via Sumerian Records. The official music video for the latest single from the disc, "Best Bad Habit", can be seen below. A soulful horn section kicks off the track whilst Danny's signature power-rasp soars over a whiskey-soaked blues backdrop sure to have even the most reluctant of toes tapping along.

In a very different lane to the raucous heavy rock and metal ASKING ALEXANDRIA is known for, Danny's latest solo project is an 11-track blues bonanza that provides the perfect landscape for the beautifully soulful side of Danny's phenomenal vocal range and dexterous songwriting ability.

From the Clapton-esque guitar licks and bright organ bursts of previously released single "Little Did I Know" to the heartbreaking ballads "Tomorrow" and "I've Been Down", from the disco-inspired horn blasts and rhythm guitars of "Keep On Lovin'" to the gorgeous, smoky barroom duet "Edge Of Goodbye" and the country-tinged slide guitar of "Tell Her", "Shades Of Blue" is an authentically honest body of work from one of this generation's most remarkable vocalists.

Danny will hit the road next month for a 24-date headline tour of the U.S.

THE RODS To Release 'Brotherhood Of Metal' Album In June

THE RODS To Release 'Brotherhood Of Metal' Album In June

Legendary U.S. metal band THE RODS will release a new album, "Brotherhood Of Metal", on June 7 via SPV/Steamhammer.

Says THE RODS drummer Carl Canedy: "If you like the first song, then the odds are you'll like the whole album. It's balls-to-the-wall heavy metal, song after song. No ballads and nothing your mom will be humming."

Spring 1980 saw the foundation of the group surrounding vocalist/guitarist David "Rock" Feinstein, a cousin of the unforgotten Ronnie James Dio and former member of their joint band, ELF. Six years and five albums later, THE RODS decided to go separate ways in 1986 and disappeared from the scene for more than twenty years, rising again like a phoenix from the ashes in 2011 with their outstanding comeback album "Vengeance".

The three musicians — Feinstein, Canedy and bassist Garry Bordonaro — have recorded eleven songs for "Brotherhood Of Metal" (a twelfth track will be included as a bonus track on the vinyl edition). Recorded at the Barn Castle and the Nire Studio, engineered by Lonnie Park, Carl Canedy and Eric Chesek, the album features spectacular cover artwork courtesy of Belgian artist Eric Philippe and brings a breath of fresh air to the band's classic metal.

The "Brotherhood Of Metal" album title reflects the musicians' attitude to life, and what is more, it's the general philosophy of this exceptional band.

Says Carl: "David, Garry and I are still close friends all these years later. We're a band of brothers and proud that we're heavier than ever and making great RODS music for the fans."

"Brotherhood Of Metal" will be released as a CD digipak, 2LP gatefold (incl bonus track "Crank It Up (35 Years)"), as a digital download and via stream music services.

Track listing:

01. Brotherhood Of Metal (7:28)

02. Everybody's Rockin' (3:57)

03. Smoke On The Horizon (4:47)

04. Louder Than Loud (4:15)

05. Tyrant King (4:38)

Video Premiere: ABBATH's 'Harvest Pyre'

Video Premiere: ABBATH's 'Harvest Pyre'

"Harvest Pyre", the new video from ABBATH, the solo project of former IMMORTAL frontman Abbath (real name Olve Eikemo), can be seen below. The song is taken from ABBATH's second album, "Outstrider", which will be released on July 5 via Season Of Mist. The disc was recorded at Dub Studios in Kristiansand, Norway with producer Endre Kirkesola, who has previously worked with BLOOD RED THRONE, GREEN CARNATION, SIRENIA and IN VAIN, among others.

Track listing:

01. Calm In Ire (Of Hurricane)

02. Bridge Of Spasms

03. The Artifex

04. Harvest Pyre

05. Land Of Khem

06. Outstrider

07. Scythewinder

08. Hecate

09. Pace Till Death (BATHORY cover)

The artwork was created by Kim Holm and Olav Iversen.

When Abbath announced that he had left IMMORTAL, it sent massive shockwaves through the metal scene. The iconic frontman had long become the "face" of the Norwegian black scene, his image synonymous with the genre. Upon releasing his debut album with his eponymous new band, ABBATH, in 2016, trve fans were satiated with a dose of icy, blackened fury.

Now, the Norwegian giant returns for round two, armed with a refined lineup and ready to strike with a sophomore effort that is sure to once again exceed the expectations of ABBATH's loyal fanbase. "Outstrider" sees a maturation in sound, delivering a tighter, well-rounded offering from the band as they come into their own identity.

While there are moments that certainly channel the frosty hallmarks of IMMORTAL, there is no danger of ABBATH repeating that formula. ABBATH draws from NWOBM and melodic influences, adding a fresh new flavor to the sound that the band's founder came to define.

"Oustrider" consists of eight, crushing original songs and concludes with a fiery BATHORY cover. The album promises a full-on aural assault from start to finish with frigid riffage and a robust pocket that are layered with vocals from one of the most identifiable voices in black metal.

ABBATH 2019 is:

Abbath - Vocals, Guitar

Ole Andre Farstad - Guitar

Ukri Suviletho - Drums

Mia Wallace - Bass

KAMELOT Officially Welcomes Drummer ALEX LANDENBURG

KAMELOT Officially Welcomes Drummer ALEX LANDENBURG

KAMELOT has announced the addition of drummer Alex Landenburg to the group's ranks. He joins the band as the replacement for Johan "Jo" Nunez, who has been absent from KAMELOT's touring activities for most of the past year after suffering a leg injury that prevented him from performing live. Landenburg previously sat behind the kit for KAMELOT in July 2017 when the band supported IRON MAIDEN in San Bernardino, California.

Commented KAMELOT: "Alex is not only a great guy but also a master clinician, teacher and master at his craft. After filling in several times in the last two years, he proved to be an amazing addition and youthful energy to the band. He will also continue as the drummer for CYHRA. If you haven't met him yet, please make sure you say hello. He is a great guy and his smile is infectious."

Nunez joined KAMELOT last year after the departure of the band's longtime drummer Casey Grillo.

KAMELOT's latest album, "The Shadow Theory", was released in April 2018 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Haven" was helmed by acclaimed music producer Sascha Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen. Guests on the album include Lauren Hart (ONCE HUMAN), Jennifer Haben (BEYOND THE BLACK) and Sascha Paeth. The cover artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann.

The second North American leg of KAMELOT's "The Shadow Tour" begins September 10 in Silver Spring, Maryland and runs through October 12 in Tampa, Florida with SONATA ARCTICA and BATTLE BEAST in support.

Watch MACHINE HEAD 'Burn My Eyes'-Era Members Perform 'Davidian' Live In Studio

Watch MACHINE HEAD 'Burn My Eyes'-Era Members Perform 'Davidian' Live In Studio

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern, along with "Burn My Eyes"-era MH members Chris Kontos (drums) and Logan Mader (guitar), recently went into Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California and re-recorded the debut album in its entirety.

A video playthrough of the LP's opening track, "Davidian", can be seen below.

MACHINE HEAD announced last month that it will celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Burn My Eyes" with a special anniversary tour. The shows will see Kontos and Mader join the band onstage again to play "Burn My Eyes" in full.

Flynn told Kerrang!: "This 'Burn My Eyes' tour is happening, but it's still six months away. As Kerrang! have speculated, we are recording new music. We are getting to release new music. In fact, the lineup that'll be going out on tour have actually gone and re-recorded 'Burn My Eyes' live in the studio. We plan on dripping that out song by song. It'll probably be digital-only — just something cool to help celebrate. We filmed ourselves doing it, so there'll probably be some playthrough videos too."

He added: "It's so cool seeing us playing those songs again for the first time, like, 'How does that riff go?' or, 'What was that lyric again?' There are mistakes, but we just left them in. It was just part of this really special, fun, positive moment."

The first leg of MACHINE HEAD's 25th-anniversary tour for "Burn My Eyes" will kick off in Germany on October 5 in Freiburg, and continue across Europe, wrapping in Dublin, Ireland on November 8. The U.S. leg will take place in November and December.

Building on MACHINE HEAD's "An Evening With…" format, these shows will be a three-hour musical extravaganza, comprised of two parts: Part one will feature a battery of MACHINE HEAD's modern classics, such as "Imperium", "Halo" and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears", featuring Flynn and MacEachern performing alongside two soon-to-be-announced musicians on guitar and drums. Part two will feature "Burn My Eyes" played in its entirety for the first time ever, with Kontos and Mader joining in.

Kontos left MACHINE HEAD before the release of the band's second album, 1997's "The More Things Change", and was replaced by Dave McClain.

McClain and guitarist Phil Demmel exited MACHINE HEAD last fall.

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD Reveals 'Surprise' Songs That Fans May Hear On Spring Tour

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD Reveals 'Surprise' Songs That Fans May Hear On Spring Tour

Rob Halford has revealed some of the newly added songs that fans can expect to see in JUDAS PRIEST's setlist when he and his bandmates return to the United States this spring for a run with fellow classic heavy rockers URIAH HEEP. The 32-date trek will kick off on May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and wrap on June 29 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaking to Kirby Ray of the St. Louis radio station Real Rock 99.3, Halford said about the upcoming tour (hear audio below): "When PRIEST first came over to America in the late '70s, we played every place — we were on the road for months and months and months. We played every bar, every club. Anywhere we could plug the amps in, we played. So now when we do these big PRIEST tours, it takes about three legs — this is the third leg of the 'Firepower' tour — to come and see all of our metal maniacs. So when PRIEST hits the road, it's from Halifax over to Seattle down to San Diego and Miami and every place in between.

"This will be the final leg of PRIEST in America for this year and the third 'Firepower' USA run," he continued. "We're mixing it up. If you saw us when we came through the St. Louis area last time, we're bringing a different show this time. We've got a different stage set, costumes, lights, and, most importantly, the music. We're bringing out some real beautiful old classics that we haven't played before or we haven't in a long time. So it's gonna be a real treat."

Asked about the rarely performed tracks that PRIEST fans may hear on the spring tour, Halford said: "We've probably got close to 12 or maybe 15 songs that we're knocking around in the jam room… That's how some of these tracks like 'Killing Machine' [the title track of PRIEST's 1978 album] came out onto the live stage. 'Cause the guys would jam. I was in my room and I'm, like, 'What are they doing? Is that 'Killing Machine'? I haven't heard that in, like, 30 years.' And I go in. I'm, like, 'Yeah. It's 'Killing Machine'. It sounds good. Let's try it out.' And we played it live, and the fans were loving it. So I'm sure we'll put that on the setlist when we come back to St. Louis."

As for some of the other songs that could be aired during the tour, Rob mentioned "Out In The Cold" (from 1986's "Turbo"), "Rapid Fire" (from 1980's "British Steel"), "The Sentinel" (from 1984's "Defenders Of The Faith") and "(Take These) Chains" (from 1982's "Screaming For Vengeance").

This past February, guitarist Richie Faulkner told Atlanta's rock station Rock 100.5 that PRIEST will have "a few surprises" in the setlist on the upcoming tour, adding that they will be "songs that maybe people haven't heard for a long time, or ever from the band." He said: "It's exciting just to see people's faces when you throw a new song in there or a blast from the past."

Back in January, JUDAS PRIEST performed "Killing Machine" live for the first time since 1978 during a concert at Zénith de Paris in Paris, France.

During last year's "Firepower" U.S. tour, JUDAS PRIEST's set included rarities like "Running Wild", "Bloodstone" and "Tyrant", plus "Saints In Hell", which had never been performed live before.

Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Singer Rob Halford joined the group in 1973 and guitarist Glenn Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then came back to PRIEST in 2003.

JUDAS PRIEST's latest album, "Firepower", was released in March 2018 via Epic.

BRUCE DICKINSON To Perform At 50th-Anniversary Celebration Of JON LORD's 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra' In Quebec City

BRUCE DICKINSON To Perform At 50th-Anniversary Celebration Of JON LORD's 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra' In Quebec City

IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson will perform on November 21 at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City, Qebec, Canada as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of late DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord's "Concerto For Group And Orchestra". Also scheduled to appear are conductor Paul Mann, a close friend of Jon's, the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, and the PAUL DESLAURIERS BAND. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, April 10 at 10 a.m. EDT at this location.

Dickinson said: "It's a great honor to participate in the 50th anniversary of the 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra'. When Paul Mann contacted me about the Quebec event, I said yes immediately.

"As many people know, DEEP PURPLE have been a major, ongoing influence in my life since I was a teenager, and down the years, I have been fortunate enough to become good friends with all of the band, most especially in my collaborations with Jon Lord.

"Right now, I'm still deciding on what to perform — so many great PURPLE songs to choose from! — and am looking forward to seeing everyone at this very special commemorative evening."

Added Mann: "My long collaboration with Jon Lord, and in particular his innovative, genre-defying 'Concerto', has been one of the greatest joys of my musical life. I look forward to bringing this piece to Canada for the first time on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. Jon's spirit will definitely be with us."

During a September 2018 spoken-word gig in Copenhagen, Denmark, Dickinson was asked about his relationship with Lord. He responded: "Jon Lord was a wonderful gentleman, and we were close friends. And he sadly died of… He had pancreatic cancer, but he survived for a year and a half — much against what everybody had said would happen. And actually, at the end, he didn't die of pancreatic cancer — he died, unfortunately, of some terrible blood collapse that happened with him, possibly as a result of treatment. But we had all kinds of crazy plans, including me going out on tour with him, singing DEEP PURPLE songs with an orchestra, which he was planning to do; that was one of the things we were planning to do. But it all got interrupted and canceled, and [it was] obviously very sad. He was a wonderful man."

Lord died on July 16, 2012 at age 71 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Lord, who was known for his keyboard virtuosity and his reinvention of the Hammond B-3 organ sound, co-wrote such PURPLE classics as "Smoke On The Water" and "Child In Time", among others. Lord and drummer Ian Paice were the only original members to last through the band's initial run from 1968 to 1976. He was on board for their 1984 reunion and stayed on through to his 2002 retirement from the band, after which he worked primarily in the classical field.

ELECTRIC RADIO KINGS Cover "Back To Black" By AMY WINEHOUSE In New Video

ELECTRIC RADIO KINGS Cover "Back To Black" By AMY WINEHOUSE In New Video

Electric Radio Kings will release its powerful cover of the Amy Winehouse hit “Back To Black” on Grand Vision Records on March 15th. The band’s take on Winehouse’s musical dive into heartbreak, depression, and addiction is reverent, with soulful vocals and emotionally-charged instrumentation. The video for “Back To Black” was released today.

Why cover such a weighty song? Vocalist Paul Christiana explains, “I love Amy Winehouse, and her unique vocal delivery. The song is dark and relatable, and it worked really well with our style and emotional vibe.” But it wasn’t an easy decision, or performance. Guitarist Stacey David Blades adds, “There was quite a bit of decision making on whether we could truly give this brilliant song justice, but at the same time make it our own. The initial recording session of this was a mess! It wasn't until (producer) Mike Gillies took over the production and brought out everybody’s A-game.”

The “Back To Black” video includes easter eggs throughout that reference Winehouse’s personal and professional lives. It was directed and filmed by Mason Wright for Keep It King Productions (Adelita’s Way) in cooperation with Chris Jadallah for Calliope Films.

“We were fortunate to shoot at our friend’s amazing mansion here in Vegas. Another friend and Cirque du Soleil performer Cassieopia starred as the ghost. Chris shot the graveyard footage in New Orleans with Paul.” The two remarkable locations support the video’s story, says Christiana, “of an old spirit who has come back to try to reconnect with each of us.”

“Back To Black” was written by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson. Mike Gillies (Metallica, Ray Davies, The Tragically Hip) produced and mixed the ERK track. The full-length Electric Radio Kings debut  album, Purrr, will be released later this spring.

Electric Radio Kings is: singer and songwriter Paul Christiana, Stacey David Blades and Keith Horne on guitars; drummer Johnny Rude, and bass player Del Cheetah. The band brings its retro rock influences (from Cheap Trick to Stone Temple Pilots) into the contemporary rock space. ERK’s first single, “Sympathy For Me” sat on major market radio playlists next to Shinedown, Ghost, and other rock acts and earned props from Alice Cooper on his nationally syndicated radio show.

Watch First Two Episodes Of ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Black Antenna' Movie Project

Watch First Two Episodes Of ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Black Antenna' Movie Project

The first two episodes of ALICE IN CHAINS's special movie project titled "Black Antenna", produced and directed by filmmaker Adam Mason, can be seen below. Inspired by the sound of the band's first album in five years, 2018's "Rainier Fog", Mason has created a stunning 90-minute sci-fi film which is being rolled out in ten episodic segments/videos, with each episode set to a different song from the album.

"I'm a longtime fan of the band," says Mason. "And this was an opportunity to do something fresh and inspiring from an indie filmmaking side. The sound and vision between album and film are closely intertwined — it was a brilliant synergy that led to a really unique project."

"We've always toyed with the idea of creating videos for every song on one of our albums," says drummer Sean Kinney. "Not only did we do that for 'Rainier Fog', it got totally out of hand and we made a whole goddamn movie. Everything that will be seen in the videos will be footage from 'Black Antenna' to preface the complete film's release."

The band's first new studio effort in five years, "Rainier Fog" marks a few firsts for ALICE IN CHAINS: it's their first album for BMG and their first time recording in their hometown of Seattle in more than 20 years (worth noting that the album title is a tribute to Seattle). The "Rainier Fog" recording process also saw the band spend time at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles and at the Nashville studio of producer Nick Raskulinecz. "Rainier Fog" is the third straight ALICE IN CHAINS album recorded with Raskulinecz and engineer Paul Figueroa. The album was mixed by Joe Barresi (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, TOOL).

RUSH: 'Wandering The Face Of The Earth: The Official Touring History' Book Due In October

RUSH: 'Wandering The Face Of The Earth: The Official Touring History' Book Due In October

Insight Editions has set an October 15 is release date for "Rush: Wandering The Face Of The Earth: The Official Touring History". The book includes a foreword from PRIMUS's Les Claypool, and an afterword by THE POLICE's Stewart Copeland. The 304-page hardcover was compiled by Skip Daly, a RUSH expert for over 30 years, and Eric Hansen, who started the popular "Power Windows" RUSH fansite at 2112.net.

Hansen stated about "Rush: Wandering The Face Of The Earth: The Official Touring History": "We first conceived it nine years ago, not long after the release of [the RUSH documentary] 'Beyond The Lighted Stage'. Covering the 40-plus-year touring history of our beloved band, it is a book that not only compiles the tour dates and setlists, but also tells the stories of what happened on tour. We weren't alone in our quest, though, and enlisted the help of many fellow fans (you know who you are) to help flesh out these stories. With early approval from the folks at [RUSH's management company] SRO, we were not only provided with their tour records, but they helped us connect with many crew members both past and present. In addition, we had the pleasure to speak to past band members such as Mitch Bossi, Lindy Young and Gerry Fielding, as well as John Rutsey's brothers, Mike and Bill. When it came to the cover, we pitched some ideas over the phone to Hugh Syme, and he came back to us with the amazing cover you see [below]."

Official book description: "Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart performed together for the first time to an audience of 11,000 people in 1974. Forty years later, their last tour sold over 442,000 tickets. This is the story of everything in between. This is the story of RUSH.

"Fondly known as the Holy Triumvirate, RUSH is one of the top bands to shine through rock-and-roll history. 'Wandering The Face Of The Earth' covers RUSH's storied touring career, from their humble beginnings as a Toronto-area bar band playing middle school gymnasiums to their rise as one of the world’s most sought-after live acts, selling out massive arenas around the globe. This book includes every setlist, every opening act, and every noteworthy moment meticulously researched and vetted by the band themselves. Along with spectacular, never-before-seen imagery, this is THE must-have tour compendium for RUSH fans."

RIVAL SONS Frontman Has 'Serious Trouble' With Current Political Situation In U.S.: 'It's Very Embarrassing'

RIVAL SONS Frontman Has 'Serious Trouble' With Current Political Situation In U.S.: 'It's Very Embarrassing'

RIVAL SONS frontman Jay Buchanan says that he has "very serious trouble" with the current political situation in the U.S., explaining that "we have a lot bigger problems" in the country "than what's being focused on right now."

When asked in a recent interview with Sandra Hajduk if he thinks musicians should stay away from politics or if they should get involved, Jay responded (see video below): "I don't see any need for a musician to be quiet or to be silent when they feel like they need to say something. I think that for an artist, we have a platform where we can talk to a lot of people, and sometimes, for me, being an American, I look at our politics [and] I have serious trouble with it. I have very serious trouble with the current situation. It's very embarrassing, and it's really difficult.

"Some people will say, 'Okay, don't be political because you'll lose fans,' or something like that, and that just sounds terrible," he continued. "Well, why would you be quiet about something that's important to you just so you can make more money? Or people say, 'You just concentrate on your music. Don't worry about that stuff.' Well, when you have someone in office that is declaring a national emergency to build a wall between the United States and Mexico while Michigan doesn't have drinking water… We have a lot bigger problems in the United States than what's being focused on right now."

Buchanan added: "I'm not an overtly political person, and I don't think you have to be political to look at a situation and say that you think it's ridiculous. There's nothing political about that. So, the politicking is for the politicians, and having a social obligation and a moral obligation, that's just called being a human being. That isn't political. So when you see something that's unjust, it's okay to talk about it."

RIVAL SONS' latest album, "Feral Roots", was released on January 25 via Low Country Sound/Atlantic Records. The disc was produced by Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb at Nashville's famed RCA Studio A, and the equally legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

GUNS N' ROSES Keyboardist's HOOKERS & BLOW Signs With GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS

GUNS N' ROSES Keyboardist's HOOKERS & BLOW Signs With GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS

HOOKERS & BLOW, the project formed by longtime GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed and QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi, has signed a global merchandise and recording deal with Golden Robot Records. The band's debut album is due later in the year.

"We have been asked for years about putting out an actual recording since we started this thing in 2003," says Grossi. "It never really made sense until now, as we have actually found the perfect record label in Golden Robot Records that actually gets 'it' as far as what HOOKERS & BLOW is all about.

"We are currently in the studio tracking some of our favorite songs with a very talented and diverse cast of characters, as well as working on some very outside-the-box merchandise ideas," he continues. "We can't fucking wait to share some of what we have planned for this thing."

For the musical side of things, HOOKERS & BLOW has tapped producer/engineer Alistair James, who recently completed working with Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp on the newest HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES album.

In 2013, after almost a decade of touring, HOOKERS & BLOW hosted back-to-back highly successful residencies at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go. In 2018, the band celebrated its 15th anniversary, headlining its own 25-city "Holiday Hangover" tour as well as supporting THE DEAD DAISIES on their first headline trek of North America. Most recently, HOOKERS & BLOW was a guest on the Netflix hit mockumentary comedy series "Trailer Park Boys"' first annual "Trailer Park Boys Cruise".

Over the course of the past 15 years, HOOKERS & BLOW's members have included Todd Kerns (SLASH), Chip Z'Nuff (ENUFF Z' NUFF), Mike Dupke (W.A.S.P.), Scott Griffin (L.A. GUNS) and Don Jamieson of VH1's "That Metal Show", among others. In addition to Reed and Grossi, HOOKERS & BLOW's current lineup includes Johnny Kelly (TYPE O NEGATIVE, DANZIG), Robbie Crane (BLACK STAR RIDERS) and Nadja Reed.

BODY HARVEST Sign To Comatose Music, New Album Parasitic Slavery Detailed

BODY HARVEST Sign To Comatose Music, New Album Parasitic Slavery Detailed

The new album from violent death metal machine Body Harvest is ready to be unleashed. Hellish visions of alternate realities, where humanity is enslaved and slaughtered, consumed by ravenous beasts, the endless screams echoing through the dark tunnels of the harvesting chambers; Parasitic Slavery brings this nightmare scenario to bloody, brutal life.

Since being dreamt into life in the last dark days of 2011 by guitarists Jake Ettle-lles and Gareth Nash, Body Harvest have pursued their goal of creating the ultimate distillation of death metal with ferocious intensity, driving themselves onwards without respite. Their Futile Creation debut was released in 2014 and was, by any standards, a mighty opening salvo of classic death metal song writing, infused with staggering speed and viciousness; but Body Harvest wanted more - more venomous velocity, more infectious, inescapable riffs, more overwhelming sinister atmosphere, more sheer, bone-breaking heaviness.

For the next four years they played with the genre greats; Mass Infection, Exhumed, Vital Remains, Gorguts, Vader, Immolation and Cannibal Corpse, going toe to toe with the best in the business, always learning, competing, growing in poisonous potency. Now they have poured everything they were and everything they have become into a boiling cauldron of chaos, to create the extreme, intimidating power of Parasitic Slavery.

Produced by Jonny Pettersson (Those Who Bring The Torture, Wombbath, Rogga Johansson) Parasitic Slavery sounds utterly devastating and with the might of Comatose Music now behind them, Body Harvest are ready to conquer the death metal world. On May 3rd this monstrosity will be set free to wreak havoc and the only conceivable outcome is total annihilation. This is the ultimate firestorm. This is the next level of death metal supremacy. This is Body Harvest – Parasitic Slavery!

INVICTA Announce Tour Dates With ULTRA-VIOLENCE; New Album, Halls Of Extinction, Due In May

INVICTA Announce Tour Dates With ULTRA-VIOLENCE; New Album, Halls Of Extinction, Due In May

Kitchener’s Invicta strikes out on a thrash attack across Canada this spring in support of Italy’s Ultra-Violence. Heavy and violent, yet catchy and melodic Invicta has been ripping up stages since their inception in 2017 and is excited to punch the audiences in the face with a thrash metal fist.

This tour will coincide with the May 3rd release of Halls Of Extinction, the band's second release and first full-length that boasts eight blistering songs of fury. With a more refined and mature sound, it is more thought-out than its predecessor (2018’s EP The Executioner) in terms of technicality theory and arrangement. The album flows well, is easy to listen to but still packs a very large punch!

Vocalist / guitarist Kyle Edissi adds: “We think that the fans will really dig this album. We think if someone was a fan of The Executioner, then Halls of Extinction will really hit the spot for them. The album is a fast, aggressive, in your face style of thrash / death metal with lots of melodies intertwined to make for a unique style of metal, that is not only unique but still accessible to listeners and fans of wide varieties of metal.”
