Brazil's LOSS To Release Human Factor Album In August
Brazil's Loss will release their new album, Human Factor, on August 23.
The sound of the band is rock influenced by the classics but with modern references. Marcelo Loss's heavy vocal and remarkable bass added to Adriano Avelar's powerful guitar and Teddy Bronsky's consistent drumming give rise to a sound that takes us back to the origins of the style, but brings a breath of modernity to rock. The three musicians show in the songs all their influences: classic rock, stoner, metal, hard rock, groove and so on.

DERELICT Release "Versus Entropy" Drum Playthrough Video
Unleashing their new album, Versus Entropy, this past June after a 12-year hiatus, Montreal, Canada's Derelict have released a new drum playthrough from Tommy McKinnon for the record's title track via Sick Drummer Magazine.
"I decided to choose this track because I thought it represents the album very well as far as style. It mixes groove, melody, and brutality. When I reached out to Ian at SDM, he was very enthusiastic about the song. The drums on the video are recorded in one take, and I left the timing 100% natural. I wanted this to be sort of a "live" version of the song and the sound has no triggers at all," says McKinnon.
Known for their brutal melodic technical death metal, Versus Entropy is a testament to the collaborative synergy between Burnet and guitarist Max Lussier. Each song on the album is a joint effort, with contributions from bassist Sébastien Pittet and drummer Tommy McKinnon adding layers of complexity and depth.
The album unfolds in two distinct chapters, the first four songs can be considered a pure evolution of what they did on 2012's Perpetuation. It is then separated by an instrumental piece “Attunement” that offers a breather and a bridge to the last four tracks that feature probably the band's most brutal, southern, thrashiest, and old-school prog death songs ever written by them.
Lyrically, the album delves into both global and personal themes, from climate change and social injustice to introspective explorations of identity and emotion. “Versus Entropy” was produced by Burnet and Lussier, mixed and mastered by JF Dagenais (Kataklysm), with the album artwork done by Cate Francis.
"We think our existing fans will be surprised and happy to hear new music from us. It’s been 12 years since our last full-length, although we teased our return with the 'Clear Cut' single in 2022. I think fans will find that we matured while keeping our core sound. There’s more diversity in what we’ve done here than on older material," adds the band.

"Infinite Dread"
"Terminal"
"Workhorse"
"Attunement"
"Dans les Dents"

Sweden's BLOODCROWN Release "Other I" Music Video; Sound Of Flesh And Bone Album Out This Month
Swedish melodic death/thrash metal band, Bloodcrown, has dropped the video for "Other I". The track is featured on the new album, Sound Of Flesh And Bone“, out July 26th via Gruesome Records.
The band on the new song: "'Other I' is a song about meeting the other self. That part you don't show, that no one else knows about. Who am I when no one sees it? Sometimes it is so foreign to you that you see it as another person, but it is you, your darkness.”

The album revolves around a lot of human existential thoughts. Everything from mental illness, social critical conspiracies, liberation from the slavery of social order to a struggle beyond our physical world. A real darkness that rules spiritually behind the scenes.

MUDVAYNE's CHAD GRAY: How I Finally Got Sober
Last summer, MUDVAYNE frontman Chad Gray celebrated two years since he quit drinking. The 52-year-old musician, who was born in Illinois but currently resides in Las Vegas with his Shannon Gunz, a radio host for several SiriusXM channels, opened up about his battle with the bottle in a new interview with the "Scandalous" podcast. He said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I really don't talk about it, and I really haven't talked about it — this would be the first time I talked about it — but I quit drinking two years and 10 months ago. This probably will be the most vocal I've been about it, in this podcast or whatever. I'd mentioned it, but I haven't really talked about it.
"I grew up in that shit that I was in, and my grandmother, who was the love of my life, helped pull me out of that," he continued. "She helped get me the fuck out of that mess. And she was just devastated. I was her whole fucking world. I was her little boy, and she was mine. And I was taken very far away from her, and we were both just fucked up. And eventually I got pulled out of that mess and basically started living with her. And she got the most broken, destroyed fucking kid that you could ever get. And all of a sudden now I've got this fucking freedom, and I got some love around me, which I hadn't felt a long, long time. And I just went fucking crazy — like, I went crazy. I started fucking drinking. I was fucking 13, 14 years old. I started drinking, and probably the first time I drank, the first time ever, [I was] not drinking a beer or whatever. I probably just poured an old bottle of fucking vodka down my throat. First time I ever got drunk was probably fucking vomiting and fucking blacked out and fucking maybe close to fucking death. I don't know. But that's just how it was for me. It was helping with the pain. And because of all the crazy shit that I went through down there and that I'd been through my whole life up to that point, it gave me confidence. I mean, you ask anybody, the shyest motherfucker on the planet, you pour a couple of drinks down their throat and all of a sudden they're talking. Because it's liquid confidence. So I liked that aspect of it. So, I got addicted to that. I got addicted, because I've always been very much 'square peg round hole' most of my life and most of my situations, and I still have that, where I very much feel like I don't fit in. So I'm always kind of struggling with that. So that gave me that confidence to be able to fit in. I was funny as shit, and I was a lot of fun to be around. I had a lot of fun when I was drinking, and then it just kept progressing. And then, all through my life, 14 fucking on, my 20s. I was just a fucking wild man, period. I was just out of my fucking mind. You can ask anybody, even in this business or whatever, that knew me at the end of my drinking days. It's, like, 'That mother fucker was like…' I was the guy you didn't wanna invite to your party because I'd probably come into your house and fucking kick all your shit over and jump off your table. [I was] just a fucking wild man. I was just crazy."
Chad added: "But that was my whole thing. So all through my 20s and shit. And then I get in a band and then we start touring and that fucking lifestyle. And I just embraced the fuck out of it — drink, drink, drink, drink, drink as much as I could drink, some drugs. But it just continued to grow and grow and grow and grow and grow. There are different relationships that I had or whatever that were just fucking blown up. I'm quite sure that my drinking had something to do with it. It might not have been the full-blown reason, but it was definitely in the ballpark. It was definitely something that added to it. And then I met [Shannon], and when we met each other, we just fucking went for it every night, man. We just fucking partied our ass off, honeymoon stage. It just like fucking fun and having fun and shit like that. And then it just got to the point where it was just, like, she's gotta pick up all the fucking pieces from [what] destroyed me. And in alcoholism, there's a lot of self-centeredness, and I've never thought of myself as a self-centered person. I've always been very humble. I have humility. I think it's the most powerful trait any fucking human human being can have, is humility. I've always kind of prided myself in being approachable. I always treat my fans with a lot of respect and I just treat people in general with a lot of respect, unless I'm fucking drunk and turn into a fucking wild man. So I never looked at myself as a self-serving, self-centered type of person, and then I started thinking about, after I got sober, looking back on it, and it's just, like, I knew for a fact that when I [got] right out of bed, right the fuck out of bed, crack[ed] a beer or fucking [did] a shot or whatever, right before I took that drink, just looking at it and going, knowing in my head that at some point I'm gonna take this drink and I don't know if it's gonna be beer fucking eight, beer 15, shot fucking 10, whatever, at some point I'm gonna go off the rails. I'm gonna make shit uncomfortable and I'm gonna fucking bring all of you motherfuckers down with me — anyone who's hanging out with me. I don't know how much more self-centered you can get than that. I knew it every day, but I still fucking did it. That is fucking selfish. Any person I came in contact with, I would burn a fucking bridge down. I would burn bridge after fucking bridge after bridge. And then it happened to some really close friends of mine. And they're literally looking at me going… because of my behavior, my drunken psychotic fucking behavior that's still — I guarantee you — still fueled by a life of chaos from the time as far back as I can fucking remember, I burnt some bridges with some really fucking close people, and they literally looked at me, like, 'You know what?! I'm fucking done with you, man. I'm fucking done with you. I'm not gonna sit and watch you fucking kill yourself with booze. You're gonna die alone. You're gonna be alone. You're gonna lose everything because of what you're doing. You're gonna lose it all.' Fucking tough love. And at that moment, I was, like, 'Fuck this. Last time.' At that moment, I was, like, 'This is it. I'm done.' And I did it. And I quit."
Chad previously discussed his sobriety last September in an interview with Australia's "Everblack" podcast. He said: "I haven't really spoken about it yet 'cause I'm not one for a bunch of fucking fanfare. But I haven't even posted or done anything, but I've been sober now for two years. I just passed my two-year mark. The last day of ['The Psychotherapy Sessions'] tour [in late August] was my two years. And I just didn't make any — I haven't told anybody. I haven't really gone to the wire and been, like, 'Hey.' 'Cause I don't want a bunch of people to go, 'Fucking great, man'; I don't need all that. It's been two fucking years."
He continued: "You wanna think that when you quit drinking and shit — 'cause I was insane; I was a madman. I drank and I was volatile and I was fucking crazy as fuck and not a great drinker. I was just an asshole. I was just crazy — period. And I just got fucking fed up with that dude. I quit to try to help myself and to be a better me and to live a better life, and it just doesn't work that way. You wanna think that you stop doing shit like that and all the voices get quiet, and it's, like, dude, they're screaming. And everything becomes more amplified — all the feelings, all the emotions, all the depression, all the fucking shit, you know."
Gray added: "I've done so many things in my life to try to figure it out and be better. Am I better today than I was yesterday? I hope so. I assume I am. Am I better today than I was two years ago? Absolutely. I know that for a fucking fact. But I still have a lot of work to do on myself and I still have a lot of therapy to do on my own. And my therapy is writing those thoughts down and fucking creating and connecting. It helps me to be open and to be honest knowing that I'm going to connect with someone and knowing that I'm gonna help someone. And that's the reason that I want to continue to write music. My biggest thing is that — the connection that I know that I'm gonna make with someone. And that's my inspiration. And that's my muse."
Back in 2017, while Chad was fronting HELLYEAH, he told Antihero that he was "not drinking on the road anymore. I quit partying," he claimed. "I just came to the terms with myself like that. I wanted to give, be the best that I can when I'm playing. So I do all of the things that I do just to play. To give you, all the fucking kids that are standing in front of me, the best show possible. And it's hard to do when you're drinking. You're dehydrated, you're fucking hung over. I just feel better. I feel more confident in my voice and I feel better about myself. I look better. I lost weight. It's 'good good good'. The only bad is no drinking."
MUDVAYNE formed in 1996 and has sold over six million records worldwide, earning gold certification for three albums ("L.D. 50", "The End Of All Things To Come", "Lost And Found"). The band is known for its sonic experimentation, innovative album art, face and body paint, masks and uniforms. MUDVAYNE is Gray, Greg Tribbett (guitar, backing vocals),Matthew McDonough (drums, synthesizer) and Ryan Martinie (bass).
Gray spent a decade and a half fronting HELLYEAH, which released its sixth studio album, "Welcome Home", in September 2019 via Eleven Seven Music. The disc marked the group's final effort with drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who passed away more than six years ago.

SKYEYE To Release New Horizons Album This Month
Slovenian heavy metal band, SkyEye, will release their new studio album, New Horizons, on July 19 via Reaper Entertainment.
Some bands play heavy metal. Some bands are heavy metal. Enter Slovenian powerhouse SkyEye, the best example of category two one could wish for. With their third record, New Horizons, just around the corner, the sworn brotherhood is officially and successfully applying for the role of heavy metal’s latest and most courageous defenders of the faith, a force of steel that was simmering ever since it started out back in 2014.
These past years, SkyEye have wasted no time in stating their claim of becoming heavy metal’s next global ambassadors. And that in itself is no small feat for a band from Slovenia with its vibrant yet internationally shamefully under-represented scene. But fear not, SkyEye are gonna change that – with vigour, stamina, and some of the best traditional heavy metal you have heard in a long time. “The whole band consists of passionate metalheads”, mastermind Jan Leščanec emphasises. “The seed of heavy metal was planted in our youths and we nurture it since then.”
Founded back in 2014 as a band of brothers wishing to play the music they love, things quickly picked up pace. Their debut Digital God served as a first warm-up round in 2018, gigs and confidence followed suit. Ever since their 2021 release Soldiers of Light, their debut for Reaper Entertainment, SkyEye rose to prominence beyond Slovenian borders as well, winning fans worldwide, taking the band closer to the top step by thundering step. Today, SkyEye consist of Jan Leščanec (vocals), Marko Kavcnik (guitars), Urban Železnik (guitars), Primoz Lovsin (bass) and Jurij Nograsek (drums). A five-piece ready to take on the world.
Their latest offering, New Horizons, sets a huge exclamation mark behind this iron will of spreading the gospel of true heavy metal: SkyEye combine the grandeur of Iron Maiden with the punch of Judas Priest and the youthful vigour present on the first Hammerfall – indeed their latest album very much feels like the Swedes’ 1997 breakthrough album Glory to the Brave in terms of zeal and ambition. No doubt: A new power has risen in the east, a heavy metal thunderstorm screaming with vengeance and hell-bent on taking the throne of traditional steel. New Horizons is their crown jewel in an already impressive collection, following the prestigious “Newcomer Of The Year” award by Metal Hammer magazine back in 2021. “That was quite the shock for us – in a positive way,” Jan laughs. “We did not expect it to happen in a million years. It was and forever will be a great honour and a confirmation that we are on the right path and of course it is a huge boost for our motivation in the future.”
No doubt: New Horizons happily exceeds the expectations glued to that award. “The new album is a continuation of what we’ve established as a band in the past years,” Jan states. “Every song on the album is its own world and carries its own story.” As the uplifting title already hints, this one is about new beginnings, big changes and gigantic challenges, a record full of blistering riffs, jubilant screams, thundering drums and soaring melodies. “This took the band members on a journey to find new horizons,” the vocalist says. It also meant that founding member and main driving force in the band’s early days, Grega Stalowsky, needed to step aside to let the band fully grow and blossom. “He is the true metal warrior and we know the decision was not easy for him to make,” Jan says, “but we fully support his decision to step off the train. With that in mind we wanted to make the best album to date. To be completely honest, there were some hard times during the making of the album because Grega was on his way out. But we persevered. It’s indeed as the saying goes: The pearl is born from the pain.” As a farewell gift and a sign of his enduring legacy, three of the album’s eleven tracks are written by Grega.
While the opener “The Descenders” already is a hot-blooded and massive beast of a song, lead single “Railroad of Dreams” serves as the best introduction to this band – a compact and melodic uptempo song retelling the heroic journey that lead SkyEye to this point. Jan: “This train is a metaphor for the decade long of our band that has taken us through thick and thin and towards these new horizons.” Equally storming and crushing, yet a tad more dark, “Far Beyond” is a fiery and galloping brand of heavy metal that ticks all the boxes of majestic storytelling. And while “Nightfall” crosses classic era Helloween vibes with a mystical and primordial aura, it’s the title track that’s pulling all the stops in terms of an epic, huge metal anthem, connecting the themes from this fierce third release with that of the debut. Mark that one for your top picks of the year already!
SkyEye may have been around for a decade already. And yet New Horizons feels like a genuine beginning, like a first milestone of many more to come. Be there to witness the start of something truly spectacular. You will regret it later if you don’t. And that’s a promise. Or, as the band puts it: “We are more than happy with this record and we hope that the fans will enjoy listening to it as much as we do. In the name of SkyEye, let there be heavy metal!” Amen.

WORMED Streaming Omegon Album Ahead Of Official Release; Audio
Spain-based brutal/technical death metal act, Wormed, will release their new album, Omegon, tomorrow, Friday, July 5, via Season Of Mist. A full album audio stream can be found below.
Space – the final frontier. Yet, when Wormed reach out into the void, the results sound far more like a dark space opera inhabited by bizarre aliens, genetically and technically evolved meta-humans struggling for power and survival in galactic empires. Now, the nano-technological war has been unleashed in the void to defeat the last sower of human life, Krighsu!
Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs. While being outstandingly skilled musicians Wormed are avoiding any self-indulgent show of prowess for its own sake. Instead, the five-piece from Madrid clearly lays its emphasis on creating atmospheric songs, which develop and grow along the underlying story.
Originating from Spain's capital Madrid in 1998, Wormed immediately made an impact in the death metal scene with the release of their Floating Cadaver In The Monochrome MCD (1999). Following a promo CD under the title Voxel Mitosis (2001), the first studio album Planisphaerium received high acclaim by critics and fans alike in 2003. In the wake of their debut full-length, the Spanish received invitations to international festival shows and touring around the globe. Wormed performed in Japan alongside Goratory and Vomit Remnants and afterwards hit Europe with Malignancy and Despondency.
A creative hiatus, partly due to lineup changes and filled with reissues of their previous released as well as the single "Quasineutrality" (2010) finally ended, when their sophomore album Exodromos came out in 2013. On their third full-length Krighsu (2016), the fast-rising Spanish sci-fi tech death prodigies are telling a dystopian cosmic story with lyrics and music joined into an overarching concept. Its intense brutality, dissonant dynamic riffing, and tremendous heaviness combined with an amazing futuristic concept, which introduced the character Krighsu – last human in the cosmos, harvested top reviews and saw Wormed headlining in the US and co-headlining in Europe.
In the summer of 2019, Wormed brought their ultra-technical cosmic sonic onslaught to new heights on their 4-track EP Metaportal, released through Season of Mist. Praised as a monstrously satisfying addition to their catalogue, the EP bridged the gap between their previously released 2016 Krighsu and their newest project. Atmospheric yet faithful to the skull-crushing mind-boggling textures they’ve given fans over the years, Metaportal allowed Wormed to come to terms with the loss of Guillermo Calero in 2018 and move forward.
On Omegon, Wormed’s upcoming 2024 release, they continue the story of Krigshu, a timeline hacker entangled in manipulation by cosmic forces. As viciously as the aggression they bring on their technically impressive instruments, Krigshu battles his way to unlock the mysteries of Omegon, a mysterious cosmic substance holding ultimate power. With 9 tracks of ultimate interstellar chaos, a story unfolds and Wormed prove yet again that they reign supreme on the technical death metal genre.

THE OFFSPRING's 'Supercharged' Album Contains One 'Thrash Metal' Song, Says NOODLES
In a new interview with Finland's Chaoszine, THE OFFSPRING guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman spoke about the band's upcoming eleventh album, "Supercharged", which will arrive on October 11 via Concord Records. Regarding the recording process for the follow-up to 2021's "Let The Bad Times Roll", he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, it was good. We worked with Bob again, Bob Rock, our producer. We've been working with him for, like 15, 16 years now. And we just get together every so often for, like, a couple of weeks, two, three weeks. He comes to Huntington [Beach, California] or we go up to Vancouver. There's a studio called The Warehouse that he likes to work at up there. We have our own studio in Huntington. And we just hang out. We talk about music and then we turn on record and try different things and see what happens.
When the interviewer noted that it seems like there is a "relaxed" vibe in the studio, Noodles clarified: "We work hard on what we're doing, especially Dexter [singer Bryan Holland]. He focuses a lot on just minute details. I don't know how he holds all those details in his head. I'm, like, 'Man, I love it. Great beat. Great groove. Let's go.' He's, like, 'Well, there's one drum hit that's that needs to be fixed here.' Like, 'Whoa, dude. Okay.'"
Asked if they ever end up in arguments because of differences of opinion, Noodles said: "There's times when we all disagree, and Dexter will disagree with Bob, Bob will disagree with me and him, but it's always… It's never… I wouldn't even say argument. There's disagreements, but we just discuss it and we try different things. If Bob makes a suggestion, we'll try it and see where it works. And sometimes you have to sit on that. Like we'll try something new, then we go home and listen to it and go, 'Ah, you know what? I did like it better before,' or go, 'You know what, Bob? You were right. That one part needed to be fixed.' And that's how we work. And it's always good-natured."
Asked if he and his bandmates ever discuss the musical direction they want to take when working on new music, Noodles said: "Each song is is viewed separately. And then once you have a bunch of songs, then you kind of see where the record is going And then you just try to build on that. I don't think we've ever changed that much. We've never done a concept record. We never went, 'All right, we're done with this punk rock pop stuff. We wanna be metal now.' There is at least one song on this record that I would call metal. It's just thrash metal. It's called 'Come To Brazil'… It's one of the most metal. I don't know [about] heaviest. We've got a lot of heavy punk rock songs as well, but this one's probably one of the heaviest metal ones for sure. There's another one too called 'Get Some', which is pretty riff rock, almost metal."
At last month's Download festival in the United Kingdom, Holland spoke to James Wilson-Taylor of Rock Sound magazine about "Supercharged". Addressing the fact that the LP will be released just three years after "Let The Bad Times Roll", which came out nearly a decade following 2012's "Days Go By", Dexter said: "The last one took a really long time, and I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I think it had a lot to do with that I went back to school and I didn't realize how much time that was taking. [Editor's note: Dexter resumed his studies and earned a PhD in molecular biology in May 2017.] And before you know it, it's been years and years since you put out a record. And so this time we were, like, 'We're determined to get something out more quickly this time.' So it was, for us, very quick — it was, like, three years… In rock years, like dog years, that's like three months."
Asked if the newly released song "Make It All Right" from "Supercharged" was the obvious choice for a first single from the album, Dexter said: "No, I thought it was gonna be another [track], actually. And we just kind of — you know, you start playing it for people around you, your, your friends and family or whatever, and then eventually the people at the label that are gonna promote it, and 'Make It All Right' was the one that kind of kept on coming back as, like, 'We think this is the one.' And I think people like it because it's very immediate — it's not hard to figure out what's going on in this song. And I think that's kind of cool. I like the idea of putting out what I would call almost a summer song. It's just kind of a feel-good song. It doesn't always have to be dark and gloomy or something that's really deep that you have to figure out. Sometimes you just wanna kind of — the joy of life, I guess, is kind of the vibe going on."
When "Supercharged" was first announced, Dexter said in a statement: "We wanted this record to have pure energy — from the start to the finish! That’s why we called it 'Supercharged'. From the height of our aspirations to the depths of our struggles, we talk about it all on this record…in a way that celebrates the life that we share and where we are now. Our single 'Make It All Right' is a great example of this because it talks about the people in our lives who make us feel strong when we are feeling low — our partners in crime who make us feel all right."
He continued: "The album was recorded in three different locations this time: Maui, Vancouver, and our home studio in Huntington Beach, and together with our producer Bob Rock everything came out awesome. I feel like this is the best we have ever sounded! We've been rocking out and headbanging to it for months! And we can't wait for you guys to hear it!"
Dexter previously told the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast about the musical direction of the band's eleventh studio album: "I think it's a David Bowie quote, who said, 'You've gotta make it the same, but different.' It's funny, 'cause it's true. 'Cause if you sound too much like your other record, they go, 'Oh, it just sounds like this record.' And if you change too much, it throws people. And, of course, you've gotta ultimately satisfy your own creativity, what you wanna do. And luckily, I think that we've really expanded the circle of what we can do. We did 'Gone Away' on 'Ixnay [On The Hombre]' and we've done piano stuff and all that, but I think you have to balance that desire to grow with — you don't wanna necessarily be too grown up, if that makes sense. You don't wanna all of a sudden go, 'I'm gonna make a record like U2.' That doesn't necessarily work the best for who you are as a band. We're trying to keep that all in mind."
He continued: "When people ask me, 'What does your new record sound like?', I'll just say 'Ignition', 'cause people go, 'Oh, cool. I love that record.' So, it's not like that. It's a mixture. I think punk is the core of what we've always been, so there's always some of that on a record. And then we usually throw in a couple of oddball songs, but it's always about trying to make the song as good as it can be."
"Let The Bad Times Roll" was a huge global success, hitting career-high chart debuts with seven Top 5 and ten Top 10 international debuts and nine Top 10 debuts in the U.S. The album peaked at No. 3 on the U.K. chart and hit No. 1 on the Alternative Albums chart in the U.S.
THE OFFSPRING first achieved worldwide success in the 1990s with the release of their album "Smash", which sold over 11 million copies. Following "Smash", they continued to release hit after hit, popularizing rock at a mainstream level.
Throughout THE OFFSPRING's career, they've sold over a staggering 40 million albums, and toured arenas, and built a global fan base. "Let The Bad Times Roll" marked the band's tenth studio album and third album produced by Rock.
Originally formed under the name MANIC SUBSIDAL, THE OFFSPRING's lineup consists of Holland, Wasserman, bassist Todd Morse, multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy and drummer Brandon Pertzborn.

He is joined by guitarists Sebastien Thisdelle and Myles "Slam" Rourke (ex-Annihilator), bassist Billy Jessup and drummer Joel Agnew.

This record is for the love of the retro glam experience. I want fans to remember the good old days when rock was fun and rock stars looked like rock stars. New CRADLE OF FILTH Album Is Finished; First Single To Arrive In October
In a new interview with Hayley Leggs of TotalRock, CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth revealed that the band's new album is "finished". He added: "The new single will come out at the beginning of October prior to our European tour… So, yeah, new single prior to the album that's coming out — I'm going to say end of February, but I'd be lying. 'Cause I've got no idea. But it's around that time."
This past May, Filth told Australia's Heavy about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2021's "Existence Is Futile" album: "We've already done our [collaborative] track with [pop superstar and noted CRADLE OF FILTH fan] Ed Sheeran, although that'll be probably coming out on the special edition of the new album, but I can't really talk much more about that, all legalities and what have you. We should be dropping a new single, actually, around the time of the Australian tour [in September 2024], maybe a little bit later… [The single] should be [out] probably about the same time, with the album being dropped around March next year."
He continued: "The album we started last July, and our record company was, like, 'Why are you taking so long?' It's, like, 'Well, because we're on tour.' We started the album [and then] we literally went off on tour for two months. So, yeah, we've been very, very busy."
Asked about the musical direction of the new CRADLE OF FILTH material, Dani said: "It's a step on from the last record. Same production values, same producer, although we always approach it from a different way, so it does sound a lot different. I can't go too much into it because no matter what I say, it's not really gonna justify or do do justice to the tracks on there. It's very hard to explain. It's got [elements of] 'Dusk... And Her Embrace' vibe-wise. Vocally, it's a bit of everything. It's an aggressive record. It's a very catchy record. Yeah, it's just something that's gonna really please our fans. We've worked very hard on it. And the last record was received really well, 'Existence Is Futile'. It's an advancement from that. But it's not because I'm being told, 'Keep it calm. You can't talk about the record yet.' It's very difficult to talk about something that's got so much in it."
Last year, CRADLE OF FILTH released its first live album in over 20 years, "Trouble And Their Double Lives", via Napalm Records. The LP was recorded between 2014 and 2019 at different performances in the USA, Europe, Australia and beyond during the band's "Cryptoriana" world tour and dates following. Produced, mixed and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios, with recording captured by Danny B, the effort not only featured a slew of fan favorites encompassing the band's discography but also two bonus tracks and two entirely brand new songs, "She Is A Fire" and "Demon Prince Regent".
Asked in an interview with Decibel if the two new songs on the record indicate what the next CRADLE OF FILTH album will sound like, vocalist Dani Filth said: "Maybe a little bit but no. It's pretty hard to explain, I can't really talk about it. The new album has a 'Dusk… And Her Embrace' vibe to it. But no, we moved on from that. We started writing as a collective after that, these were stopgap songs that originally were intended toward a new album but because of the pandemic, it delayed everything and they found themselves out there. We just thought it was best to put them on the new record."
He added: "A record takes up so much of your time. It's a monument to a band's career, a lot of effort gone into it, a lot of time gone into it. It deserves its own sort of place and each album will have its own unique identity that's in place due to whatever outside due influence is happening at the time. People in the band, when they recorded, there's so many things that determine what an album's about. Of course each and every one is hopefully going to have a very strong and different identity to the previous one and also the future one."
In May 2023, Dani was asked by BLABBERMOUTH.NET if he envisions the next CRADLE OF FILTH studio album staying in the same vein as "Cryptoriana" or "Existence Is Futile". He responded: "It's not going to be a million miles away from that. I've been working on some of the material today. We're putting the finishing touches on the songs we're going to record, whether all of them make the grade or not. It has a 'Dusk… And Her Embrace' vibe to them. Musically, it plays across 'Dusk' and 'Midian', but lyrically, and the vibe of it, it has a 'Dusk… And Her Embrace' feel to it. I don't know why. History repeats itself. Maybe it's because we wrote 'Dusk' around this particular time of year, but it has that vibe. It sounds great, but I would say that, wouldn't I?"

EYEHATEGOD Is 'Definitely' Working On New Music
In a new interview with Australia's Heavy, vocalist Mike IX Williams of New Orleans disciples of hardcore, blues-based, post-amplified audio wreckage EYEHATEGOD was asked if he and his bandmates have commenced work on the follow-up to 2021's "A History Of Nomadic Behavior" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We've just been touring a lot, but I know those guys are writing some new stuff. I think they've got a couple things put together, but nothing fully formed yet. It always takes us a long time in between albums to get the next one done. It took a long time between the last two albums, and it seems to always take that. But we'll get something out eventually. We're definitely writing."
When the interviewer suggested that EYEATEGOD albums are always quality because they are not rushed, Mike concurred. "Well, that's part of it," he said. "That's what I like to tell people. It's, like, we're not one of these bands that tours, then goes in the studio and writes it in the studio. We like to take our time and write and sit with it. That way, too, you get to sit with the songs for a while and you get to know them better. And if you start to not like it, you may change something when you go in the studio. So it's good to sit with it like that."
In March 2021, EYEHATEGOD released its first new full-length album in seven years, "A History Of Nomadic Behavior", via Century Media Records. The LP was produced by EYEHATEGOD, Sanford Parker (YOB, VOIVOD) and James Whitten (THOU, HIGH ON FIRE),with mixing by Whitten. The band recorded at HighTower Recording and Hypercube studios. The artwork for the LP was created by Gary Mader and Mike IX Williams.
Williams previously said of the songs on the album: "We're not a political band, but it was hard not to be affected by the [pandemic-related] news from the past year. During this recording, I thought a lot about how stupid humanity has become and how America is now completely divided with these people who don't believe in science and blindly follow liars and nonsensical ideologies. Some of those feelings may have found their way into these songs, but it is mostly subliminal."
"A History Of Nomadic Behavior" followed a period that saw EYEHATEGOD on the road for three years, preceded by Williams suffering liver failure and a transplant. "We toured our asses off for three years and that's where 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior' basically comes from," Williams said before touching on his health challenge: "Death is a part of life; it's a roll of the dice. Sometimes you take life as it comes, other times you fight to stay alive."
EYEHATEGOD's previous album, a self-titled affair, came out in 2014. It arrived a decade and a half after its predecessor, 2000's "Confederacy Of Ruined Lives".
EYEHATEGOD's 1990 "In The Name Of Suffering" and 1993 "Take As Needed For Pain" studio albums are considered their seminal works and are often cited as pillars of the American sludge sound alongside ACID BATH, BUZZOV*EN and CROWBAR.

DISTURBED Appears To Be In The Studio Recording New Music
DISTURBED appears to have entered the studio to begin recording its ninth studio album.
Earlier today (Wednesday, July 3),DISTURBED singer David Draiman shared a couple of photos of him, guitarist Dan Donegan and drummer Mike Wengren in the studio with producer Drew Fulk (MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, LIL PEEP, HIGHLY SUSPECT) and he included the following caption: "Epic shit alert @disturbed @dandonegan @mikewengren #ithasbegun".
Back in February 2023, Donegan talked to Terrie Carr of the Morristown, New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA about DISTURBED's decision to work with Fulk on its eighth studio album "Divisive", which came out in November 2022. He said: "It's always challenging because… The early part of our career, we worked with Johnny K, who did the first three albums with us. He's a hometown friend, out of Chicago. I knew him growing up, being a local guy, doing the demos for bands locally. And then we kind of self-produced throughout the years. Then we went to Kevin Churko in Las Vegas, who's done FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH [and] IN THIS MOMENT — a lot of great bands — out of Vegas. So, at this point, we just felt like we needed new life, we needed another person in there. So to let somebody in from the outside, to kind of become that fifth member of the band, is always challenging. I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to our music, and to let somebody in and to try to allow them to have an opinion and trust them and respect what they do and bring to the table… I think we've opened up a lot more over the years. The older we get, we've kind of opened up to say, 'Hey, we can trust this person to throw ideas at us. It's gonna challenge us and push us too.'"
The guitarist continued: "It's a bit of a learning curve in the beginning. And I kind of was seeking out producers, trying to think who was catching my attention currently. And I thought Drew was kind of a younger guy in his 30s. I liked what he was doing [with] WAGE WAR and then MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, and he did a couple of one-off songs with PAPA ROACH and POP EVIL and stuff like that. So I really liked what he was doing with those bands, what he brought to the table with the production of them. And I thought that this could be a really good marriage between him and DISTURBED.
"We wanted to get back to some of the core elements of what DISTURBED is — those signature elements of… that animalistic side to David's vocals," Donegan explained. "Even though he's still very melodic, bringing out that animalistic side to him, bringing the heavy riffs with the syncopation in the rhythm section and then with the modern-day production. And we thought Drew would be a good marriage and a good addition to this band. And it was. I flew out to California to meet with him — it was just me and him — just to hang out, not even work together. I just wanted to see if we just vibed as people. And we just hit it off right away. I picked him as the producer. I told the [other] guys [in the band] my opinion: 'I think that Drew is the guy that we should at least enter the studio with and see how it goes.' And it was just a short period of time of being in the studio once we started the writing process that we felt his opinions, his contribution was something that we were gonna benefit from. And it just became a great friendship and working relationship with him. It was amazing. I've never had a better experience in the studio than being with Drew. Him and I had a great chemistry, and it really got the ball rolling for us to kind of create those ideas to give David a bed of music that was gonna inspire him melodically and lyrically."
"Divisive" was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to Billboard, "Divisive" sold 26,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, with 22,000 units via album sales.
On the all-format Billboard 200 chart, "Divisive" debuted at No. 13.
DISTURBED has had five No. 1s on the all-genre chart, beginning with "Believe" in 2002.
Dan's recent divorce inspired the "Divisive" song "Don't Tell Me", which is a duet with HEART's Ann Wilson. In two decades, it breaks ground as the first-ever guest collaboration on a DISTURBED record.
"It was very personal to me," Dan previously said. "I was going through my divorce, and I wanted to touch on the fact I was in a very long marriage to a wonderful woman. She's a great mother to my kids. We were together for 18 years. Even though the marriage was in a tough spot, it was hard to leg go, because we'd invested so much into each other. I felt like listeners could relate to it."

WEDNESDAY 13 To Begin Recording Tenth Album Next Week
Wednesday 13 will enter the studio next week to begin recording his tenth solo album for an early 2025 release via Napalm Records.
Earlier today, Wednesday 13, who has been on the road celebrating his former band, the revered glam punk icons MURDERDOLLS, took to his social media to write: "Next week We begin recording the new Wednesday 13 album.
"I plan on taking the music back toward the sounds of the 1st few albums. I will also be playing guitar on this recording which will be the first time since Calling All Corpses in 2011.
"Look for updates from the studio throughout July.
"The album is scheduled for an early 2025 release through @napalmrecordsofficial".
This past March, Wednesday 13 was asked by Metalshop what fans can expect from his upcoming album. He replied: "That's a good question. I'm excited to see where it goes too. I started demoing some songs before this [European] tour, just to see what came out of my head. And I have, like, six or seven ideas and it's a little more MURDERDOLLS-ish, I guess, because I've been playing these songs. And it's got more of a free-spirited rock and roll, punk [vibe], so that's sort of in my brain again. So the music's sort of reflecting that. Will it stay that way? I don't know. That's what's fun for me, is that I can do whatever I want. And I don't ever try to do one thing; I just write what I write and let it come out. If I ever try to think about something and focus on it, I feel like it's not as good."
He continued: "This next record is gonna be special to me. It's the tenth one. It can't just be the tenth album. This one has to be as good as the first one for me. And I want to make it like that. So, I'm gonna put a lot of work into it. And when we get home from this tour, I'm gonna spend all the time we have, probably up till end of August, writing and recording this album."
Wednesday 13's latest album, "Horrifier", came out in October 2022 via Napalm Records.
In an October 2023 interview with George Dionne of KNAC.COM, Wednesday 13 said that his next album would include song called "I Have This Knife" inspired by his and his late MURDERDOLLS bandmate Joey Jordison's love of the classic horror movie 'Texas Chain Saw Massacre'.
Wednesday 13's current band features MURDERDOLLS alumni Roman Surman and Jack Tankersley.
After the completion of the touring cycle for "Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls", MURDERDOLLS went on hiatus so that Jordison could focus on his other band SLIPKNOT. In 2010, MURDERDOLLS released a sophomore album, "Women And Children Last", which did not feature guitarist Acey Slade, bassist Eric Griffin and drummer Ben "The Ghoul" Graves, all of whom toured in support of "Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls" but did not appear on any of MURDERDOLLS' records.
Wednesday 13 reunited with Griffin and Slade on stage for the first time in over a decade in August 2018 at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood. The event, which celebrated the life of Graves, saw the trio performing some of MURDERDOLLS' classic songs.
Graves, who also worked with PRETTY BOY FLOYD and DOPE, passed away in May 2018 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was only 45 years old.
The MURDERDOLLS did a number of major tours in support of "Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls". By the summer of 2003, the tenacity of the band was paying off. Tours with IRON MAIDEN, PAPA ROACH and the FOO FIGHTERS around the world and a Top 40 U.K. single with "White Wedding" made the band fan favorite in Metal Hammer, Metal Edge, Kerrang! and Rock Sound magazines.

Next L.A. GUNS Album Will Be 'Different' From The Other Records, Says TRACII GUNS
In a new interview with the On The Road To Rock podcast with Clint Switzer, L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns revealed that the band's new album will be released in March 2025. It will mark the first fruit of L.A. GUNS' reunion with Cleopatra Records, a label known for its diverse roster and innovative approach to music production.
"The record's done," Phil told "On The Road To Rock". It's off to Phil [Lewis, L.A. GUNS singer] now to do his magic."
As for the sound of the new L.A. GUNS LP, Tracii said: "It's different than the other records. That's the thing about L.A. GUNS, is I never know what's gonna come out. I don't know what mood I'm gonna be in or whatever, but I'm really proud of what I was able to record. And all the management and Phil and the guys, they're freaking out, like, 'Where'd this shit come from?' So, yeah, I'm always most excited about L.A. GUNS. It's the complete playground for me. I love it."
L.A. GUNS' latest studio album, "Black Diamonds", came out in April 2023. It was the fourth studio album since the much-welcome reunion of the band's core foundation of Lewis and Guns. It followed the well-received studio albums "The Missing Peace", "The Devil You Know" and "Checkered Past", plus the live release "Made In Milan", and a covers EP "Another Xmas In Hell".
In April 2021, a settlement was reached between drummer Steve Riley and Guns and Lewis over the rights to the L.A. GUNS name. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Guns and Lewis continue to operate under the L.A. GUNS trademark, while Riley and his bandmates from the other version of L.A. GUNS were allowed to perform and record under the new name RILEY'S L.A. GUNS. Riley died last October at the age of 67.
L.A. GUNS was formed in 1983 and have sold over six million records, including 1988's "L.A. Guns" and 1990's "Cocked And Loaded", both of which were certified gold. "Cocked And Loaded" contained the hit single "The Ballad Of Jayne" that went to No. 33 on Billboard's Hot 100 and No. 25 on the Mainstream Rock charts. From the mid-'90s to the mid 2000s, L.A. GUNS continued to tour and release new music. Following their successful performance at SiriusXM's Hair Nation festival in September 2016, L.A. GUNS went into the studio to record the critically acclaimed "The Missing Peace", which was the highest-selling release for Frontiers Music Srl in 2017. Their 12th album, "The Devil You Know", was released in 2019 to the same critical acclaim. Since reuniting, Tracii and Phil continue to tour around the world with L.A. GUNS, which currently includes Johnny Martin (bass) and Ace Von Johnson (guitar). | 0

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Will Be The First Band To Play Concert At Historic Catacombs Of Paris
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will be the first band to play a concert at the historic Catacombs of Paris.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman Josh Homme announced the gig during a press conference at last weekend's Hellfest festival in Clisson, France. The performance will also be recorded.
Homme said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "In a week's time or so, we're gonna play in the Paris Catacombs, and we'll be the first band to do so. And I've been working on it for 18 years, trying to get myself inside of this exalted place in Paris. And it's completely live."
Regarding the fact that the gig will be recorded, Josh said: "I'd like to take some of these ideas, which are sort of ubiquitous, like a live record, and do something a little different with them. Because I think with the way the Internet is, people can see us play live so simply, on so many different ways, that I'd like to do something live that cannot be seen in a way that is not often done. And we release those versions. And let the fans control the rest. The fans can control the rest of how to see us live. Come see us play, watch it online. I don't care how a baby takes his medicine — blown up the ass or down the throat. However you find our music and however you wanna find it is fine for me, but I would like to try to do some of these ideas in a different way. So, that's why I mentioned the Catacombs."
In the late eighteenth century, major public health problems tied to Paris's cemeteries led to a decision to transfer their contents to an underground site. Paris authorities chose an easily accessible site that was, at the time, located outside the capital: the former Tombe-Issoire quarries under the plain of Montrouge. The first evacuations were made from 1785 to 1787 and concerned the largest cemetery in Paris, the Saints-Innocents cemetery.
The site was consecrated as the "Paris Municipal Ossuary" on April 7, 1786, and, from that time forward, took on the mythical name of "Catacombs", in reference to the Roman catacombs, which had fascinated the public since their discovery. Starting in 1809, the Catacombs were opened to the public by appointment.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are currently on the road in Europe as part of the band's long-running "The End Is Nero" tour.
"The End Is Nero" tour is in support of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's eighth studio album, "In Times New Roman…", hailed by Variety as "self-produced by band founder [Josh] Homme and one of his strongest QOTSA lineups ever, is one of the rawest and heaviest albums the band has delivered."
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE performed live for the first time in more than three years on May 26, 2023 at the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to the Columbus gig, Josh Homme and his bandmates played one gig in early 2020, their first since 2018.
"In Times New Roman…" was made available digitally and physically on June 16, 2023 via Matador Records. The LP was recorded and mixed at Homme's own Pink Duck (RIP),with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and mixed by Mark Rankin. Artwork and double LP gatefold packaging was designed by longtime collaborator Boneface. LP vinyl was made available globally in black, green, red, silver and blue.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE said in its album announcement that the record reflects the heartache its members have experienced in the past few years.
"In Times New Roman..." is "raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart," a press release states. "And yet, it's perhaps the most beautiful and definitely the most rewarding album in their epic discography. Homme's most acerbic lyrics to date are buoyed by the instantly identifiable QOTSA sonic signature, expanded and embellished with new and unprecedented twists in virtually every song. With 'In Times New Roman…' we see that sometimes one needs to look beneath scars and scabs to see beauty, and sometimes the scabs and scars are the beauty."
Decades after its emergence from the depths of the desert, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's self-titled 1998 debut album was reissued on June 21 and is available on double LP directly from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, Matador Records and local record stores everywhere. The long-out-of-print landmark album features three additional tracks, "The Bronze", "These Aren't The Droids You're Looking For" and "Spiders And Vinegaroons". | +1

11. Calling Dr. Love (KISS song)
12. Cold Gin (KISS song)
13. Rock And Roll All Nite (KISS song)
Fan-filmed video of the show can be seen below (courtesy of YouTube user gappvembe).
Simmons produced VAN HALEN's original 1976 recording of "House Of Pain", a song that would eventually end up on the band's sixth studio album, "1984".
Gene later said about the 1976 recording of "House Of Pain": "The original version is like a locomotive that doesn't stop. Your jaw would drop."
A day earlier, Simmons was in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Rock & Brews restaurant at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Carter.
This is the second Rock & Brews location in Wisconsin. Last August, the first opened at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee.
The 3,000-square foot Rock & Brews restaurant is equipped with a stage to allow for performances from local bands. It also features an art installation honoring the Forest County Potawatomi Community.
The rock music-themed restaurant was founded by Simmons and fellow KISS founder Paul Stanley.
The GENE SIMMONS BAND played its second concert of 2024 on April 26 at the Summer Breeze festival at Memorial Da América Latina in São Paulo, Brazil. The setlist included a number of KISS classics alongside covers of MOTÖRHEAD's "Ace Of Spades" and LED ZEPPELIN's "Communication Breakdown".
Three days earlier, the GENE SIMMONS BAND performed at the grand opening of the Rock & Brews restaurant at the Ilani dining and entertainment destination in Ridgefield, Washington. It marked the KISS bassist/vocalist's first live appearance since the legendary rock act concluded its "End Of The Road" farewell tour at New York's Madison Square Garden in December.
GENE SIMMONS BAND will next launch a European tour on July 27 in Kuopio, Finland.
Back in 2017 and 2018, the GENE SIMMONS BAND played a number of shows with a lineup that consisted of Simmons alongside guitarist/bassist Jeremy Asbrock, guitarist Ryan Cook, guitarist Phil Shouse and drummer Brent Fitz.
Six years ago, Simmons stated about his solo shows: "Doing these smaller concert halls, which hold a thousand to three thousand people, means they get filled up by real diehard fans. They don't want to hear the 'same old, same old.' They want to hear nuggets, as they say. It's a hoot for me because I've never really had a chance to do this stuff live. It's been a lot of fun." Gene told the Chicago Sun-Times: "By the end, I get the chance to bring as many people from the audience as we can fit on the stage to sing with me."
Regarding how the idea for a solo tour came about, Simmons told Australia's Advertiser in a 2018 interview: "The GENE SIMMONS BAND was not a plan or anything. About a year ago, a corporate event asked me to be keynote speaker … then they said, 'Won't you get up and sing a few tunes?' I explained that you can't just do that, you've got to have a band and rehearse and all that. They said, 'Well, we'll pay you X dollars more,' and I said, 'I like you!' "So I put together a band from Nashville — these guys back up Kid Rock and lots of other people — and without a single rehearsal, I just told them which songs I wanted to do and they learned them. It just sounded natural — there is such a thing called chemistry. They don't teach that anywhere — I mean, they do teach 'chemistry' but not the kind I'm talking about. It felt right and as soon as the videos went on YouTube and such, people were calling. This little GENE SIMMONS BAND never tried to be KISS… It was just a little bit of fun and stuff. Now all of a sudden, we're headlining festivals in the Czech Republic, Canada, Germany… It's crazy."
KISS played the final concert of its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on December 2, 2023 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. | +1

Watch HAGAR, ANTHONY, SATRIANI And BONHAM Rehearse VAN HALEN's 'Poundcake' For Upcoming Tour
Video of Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Jason Bonham rehearsing the VAN HALEN song "Poundcake" for their upcoming summer 2024 tour can be seen below.
Produced by Live Nation, the 28-date "The Best Of All Worlds" tour will commence on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida and will conclude on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri.
This past January, Satriani spoke to Australian Musician about how he plans to play Eddie Van Halen's parts on the tour that will focus largely on the music of VAN HALEN. Asked about how he plans to approach the concerts from a "tonal" standpoint, Joe said: "Yeah, there's a couple of things that you can zero in on. This is one of the guitars I used during 'The Howard Stern Show' [when Joe, Sammy, Michael and Jason first announced the tour and performed on the early-morning program]. It's tuned to a D standard, which is really low, and the strings were 11. That was my first two big mistakes. [Laughs] 'Cause I can't play 11s. And tuned down to D, I just wasn't used to it. Sammy and the guys, they've been doing it for years, but it was foreign to me. So a lot of things don't happen.
"Eddie played at 440 and then E flat, and he played light strings. He played nines and even sometimes the lower strings were lighter," Joe explained. "Every time I talk about Eddie, I finish it by saying 'besides the fact that he was a genius.' You always have to add that in, 'cause he was just amazing — period. 'Cause every time he picked up a guitar, no matter what it was, it was amazing. He had the hands and the heart, everything. I'm just catching up.
"What I learned from 'The Howard Stern Show', besides it's still important to rehearse and you can't do gigs without rehearsals… But what, what it confirmed was a couple of things I was thinking about, which was that Eddie had specific gear — he really did," Satriani continued. "He didn't play with the gear I used or Steve Vai or Slash or Tom Morello or any of his contemporaries. He actually had a very specific setup. And you ask yourself, 'Well, why?' Well, it's because, besides he was a genius, as we know, he knew that in order for him to play those parts, he had to have his gear tweaked a certain way; otherwise it wouldn't work. So, like when you go to play the beginning of 'Mean Street', if your setup is not allowing those harmonics to jump out, it's gonna sound like you're not hitting them. You've gotta get the setup right.
"If you refer to the first… Let's say, if you go to [VAN HALEN's 1986 concert video] 'Live Without A Net' or any of those things, even the early period, '5150' period, from [David Lee] Roth to the early Hagar period where he's still using Marshalls, when he goes to do things like that, it's a success. Every time he goes to hit a harmonic, boom, there it is. And it's low noise, big round fidelity, still sounds organic. You fast forward to live at the Tokyo Dome [2015's 'Tokyo Dome Live in Concert'], it's a totally different thing. He's playing an entirely different amp. When he goes to do those things, he's getting an overt amount of harmonic information, but he's also getting a ton of noise and none of the body that was part of the earlier sound.
"Now I learned that because of those two [EVH] amps right there. I got those back when Alex [Van Halen] and Dave called and asked me to do the [seemingly abandoned] Eddie tribute tour, and I thought, 'Well, I've gotta figure this out.' So the first thing I did was I got a couple of those and I thought, 'Well, this is great. You get all the harmonics, but, man, this is really small sounding. This is like for modern…' If I was 20 years old and I was playing modern rock, those would be the best amps ever. But I'm not, and I still wanna hear sort of the body of the guitar and I wanna hear a more dynamic mix. So I started to think, 'Well, what's my favorite VAN HALEN section?' And I did find that period in '86. I talked to Sam quite a bit about it and he said, yeah, that first 5150, he was still using Marshalls. In Sammy's view, his favorite sound that Eddie ever made. It wasn't small and then stereoized. So I reached out to Dylana Scott at 3rd Power amplifiers, and she is building me what we believe is going to be the amp that does it…"
Joe added: "This goes back to what I said earlier about how the gear is so important for the performer. I know that when we step out on stage and whether I'm playing 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love' or '5150', I'm gonna need to feel and hear that sound to convince myself to keep going. And if it's not working, then I'm just gonna say, 'Well, let me just have my solo rig.' But my solo rig is designed — it probably has a little too much gain, and is designed to make the high strings really fat sounding, because I play all the melodies. I play very little rhythm guitar all night long. It's just solo melody, solo melody. And I can't play the Hagar set like that. It's just the wrong sound. CHICKENFOOT, it kind of worked. But for the for the VAN HALEN stuff to really pop, and then we're doing MONTROSE, we're doing Sammy Hagar solo stuff, we're doing my stuff, we're doing CHICKENFOOT. It's a really fun setlist. Great setlist. But I know, in my heart, that I wanna hear that sound in my head, that mythical Eddie Van Halen sound that we all sort of hear in our mind, and I wanna be able to feel it. And so I've been getting these clips from Dylana every week, and the stuff that she's building is really amazing."
Last December, Satriani spoke to Ultimate Guitar's Justin Beckner about how he plans to play Eddie Van Halen's parts on the upcoming tour. Asked if there are some VAN HALEN songs that he found most challenging to perform, Joe replied: "The main thing is that for the last five decades I've tried so hard to be myself and to be me and not copy anybody. I've been lucky, since the late '80s, to have a solo career, so I really had a job that forced me to be myself as much as possible. So I made a point not to play like anybody. But it happens eventually when you're having fun, you're at a party and someone says, 'Oh, can you play this song?' and you realize, 'I have no idea how to play that song. I love that song. I've listened to it a million times. I don't know what the guy's doing.' And then you go to learn it and you go, 'Wow, that's really weird. It feels so awkward for me to be like this.' And it's not the parts, 'cause I can hear the chords and I know what everything is when I hear it. It's just the sensibility of timing, vibrato, picking. If you're so deep into your own thing, it's really hard to get out of it and try to properly emulate somebody else's playing. It would almost be like if you gave a guitar to Eddie and you said, 'Okay, Eddie, we want you to play 'Summer Song' note for note.' He'd be, like, 'What? I don't play like that. I don't do that. I just kind of do this, this and this.' Of course we'd love it no matter how he did it — it would be fun — but it wouldn't be exactly the same."
Joe continued: "When I was young and I was in cover bands, I knew what it was like to try to get as close as possible when you were playing — for me, it was [LED] ZEPPELIN and [BLACK] SABBATH and THE [ROLLING] STONES and stuff like that; that's what we played. But eventually, you'd have to go, 'I don't play like that. That's not my vibrato.' If I go to play AC/DC, there's no way I can do Angus's [Young] vibrato. He just has his own vibrato. If you're gonna try to play like Jeff Beck — he's so personal. You can play the notes and remind people of this part he did and that part, but it's not gonna sound quite the same.
"If we heard Eric Clapton trying to play 'Since I've Been Loving You' by LED ZEPPELIN, there's no way it would sound the same. It would be great, but it wouldn't sound the same. So, what I noticed right away, when I realized, 'I really have to figure out these songs,' [I asked myself] what is Eddie — what's he operating on?
"So here are a couple of things I've noticed," Satriani added. "Number one, he plays so on the beat and makes it feel like he's pushing the beat, but he's actually not. It's really amazing how he does it. And I realized, when I went back and I listened to my stuff back to back, I thought, 'Oh, that's me, sitting on the backbeat as much as I can,' because I'm playing the melody. When you play the melody, you don't wanna be on top. Actually, you want the band to be pushing, and you're sitting back here, like a singer, playing. I like the way Robert Plant sings in 'Since I've Been Loving You'. He's so behind. Or listen to any hip-hop song — the vocals are way in the pocket; they're just late on purpose. So that's something I've worked on my whole life is 'sit back, sit back, sot back,' and all of a sudden you go to play a song like 'I'm The One', and it's like, 'No, you have to be the guy way in front.' And Alex [Van Halen] is gonna be going, 'No, no. Sit back here.' And that's a difficult sensibility when every nerve ending in your body is saying, 'Sit back.' But to make the song work, you've gotta sit forward. That's the first thing I noticed, like the difference between Eddie's sensibility in timing and mine in terms of timing.
"Our vibratos aren't that different," Joe said. "He holds hick pick [with his thumb and middle finger], so he's always got [his index] finger for tapping, and I don't. So I always have to do something. And what I started to do early on was to use my pick for a lot of hammer-ons because I just wanted to be different, and I thought I'd get a better sound, I'd be able to do some different things that other players weren't doing. And I saw guys using their fingers back in the early '70s, when Eddie was my age, just a young teenager. There were other guys doing tapping for decades before, but as my generation started to figure out how to do tapping, I saw the thing was a split. There's tapping for effect, tapping for riff, and then there's tapping to create an entire musical piece. And Eddie did all of it. The way that he would do the tapping, when he would use it, [was] totally opposite of the way that I had forced myself to go with it.
"The third thing is… Again, we're talking about someone who was just an incredible virtuoso in several areas. One of the things that Eddie had was this super-tight swing that was ultrafast with his right hand. And that is something, again, that once… I remember hearing for the first time and thinking, 'Well, I'm gonna have to work on that.' That's gonna take me, I thought, I bet, three months of 45 minutes a day just working with a metronome to work that into my bag of tricks.' 'Cause that's kind of like what it is."
Satriani went on to say: "I think when you're getting ready for a tour and you're gonna play a song that you haven't played in 20 years, you remember it but you go, 'Ah, I don't do that anymore,' and it physically feels odd. So you say, 'Okay, I've got six weeks before the tour. I'm gonna play this thing ten times a day and I'm just gonna keep working, and start slow and figure out all the different ways of doing it so that when I hit the stage, I can relax and play it the way it should be played.'"
Hagar and Anthony previously worked with Satriani in the supergroup CHICKENFOOT. They recorded two albums between 2009 and 2011 and toured across America but never performed any VAN HALEN material. More recently, Hagar and Anthony have played some of the VAN HALEN catalog with guitarist Vic Johnson and Bonham in SAMMY HAGAR AND THE CIRCLE.
Hagar mended his relationship with Eddie Van Halen months prior to the legendary VAN HALEN guitarist's October 2020 passing.
Sammy, Eddie, Alex Van Halen and Michael last teamed up in 2004 for a U.S. summer tour. In exchange for taking part in the tour, Anthony reportedly had to agree to take a pay cut and sign away his rights to the band name and logo.
Although Hagar and Anthony normally play five or six VAN HALEN songs" on the road with THE CIRCLE, Sammy told Stern they are planning to only play "five or six of my songs" alongside VAN HALEN classics and deep cuts.
"When we go out next year in July, it will be almost exactly 20 years since Mike and I did a reunion with Ed and Al in '04," Hagar said. "Mike and I just said, 'We can't wait another 20 years. How long can I even sing these songs? How long can I do this stuff? I just thought it's time to serve the fans."
"There's stuff we're going to do on this next tour that we haven't played since that tour in 2004," Anthony added.
Regarding the challenge of learning legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen's parts, Satriani said: "There are things that are so iconic, you have to nail it. But if you go deep with what he did live, he never played the same thing twice. He kept evolving; he kept pushing. He'd do the recorded version a little bit, but then he moved on.
"It's a daunting task when you do the deep dive into what he did," he continued. "But it's good to start at the beginning, and then you just learn all his little improvs and you get the idea of what he was trying to do. It's thrilling; it's fun."
Eddie died in October 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. The iconic VAN HALEN axeman passed away from complications due to cancer, his son confirmed.

GEEZER BUTLER Reflects On BLACK SABBATH's 'Cross Purposes' Album: 'TONY MARTIN's A Great Singer'
In a new interview with Full Metal Jackie's nationally syndicated radio show, legendary BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler was asked for his opinion on the music he created during the Tony Martin era of the band. He said: "There was just one album that I did with Tony Martin. That was — God, I can't even remember it — it's called 'Cross Purposes'. Tony Martin's a great singer, and he was good to work with. There was no big egos or anything. He got down to it when he needed to. And that was a good album for me because half of it was probably written by me, the music side of it. I went around to Tony's [Iommi, BLACK SABBATH guitarist] one day and played him all this, 'cause I was doing a solo thing at the time. And I'd got tons of material. And I went around to Tony's house and played him some of the stuff that I'd been writing and he really liked a lot of it. So I think about half of it ended up on the album."
"Cross Purposes" is included in the "Anno Domini 1989-1995" box set of the Martin-era BLACK SABBATH recordings, which was made available on on May 31 via Rhino.
"Cross Purposes" was BLACK SABBATH's seventeenth studio album, released through I.R.S. Records in January 1994. The album marked the return of Martin as the band's lead vocalist, after the second departure of Ronnie James Dio.
BLACK SABBATH released six albums with Martin on vocals: "The Eternal Idol" (1987),"Headless Cross" (1989),"Tyr" (1990),"Cross Purposes" (1994),"Cross Purposes Live" (1995) and "Forbidden" (1995). Eventually, Martin and his "Forbidden"-era bandmates were ousted when Iommi reunited with SABBATH's fellow original members.
Seven years ago, Iommi told I Heart Guitar that "it's a shame" that "it took a lot for people to accept" Martin as SABBATH's vocalist. "It's taken all these years later for people to say, 'Oh blimey, that was a good band with good singing.' So it took a long time to get people to really realize how good it was."

SALIVA To Re-Release 'Revelation' Album In September With 'Three Or Four New Songs Added'
In a new interview with "The Dark", an active rock music program that airs nightly from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on 94 Rocks KFML, SALIVA vocalist Bobby Amaru confirmed that there are plans for the band to release an expanded version of 2023's "Revelation" album in September to mark the LP's first anniversary. "We're gonna put some more songs on it," he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We have kind of an idea of we'll probably do three or four new songs added, and then we may actually take one of the songs and redo it with maybe a feature or something. We're just kind of working through it now."
"Revelation" came out last September. It marked the band's first release since the passing of SALIVA's founding guitarist Wayne Swinny, who died six months earlier while on tour with the group. The "Come Back Stronger" video was notably filmed on March 16, 2023 — just five days before Swinny's death — and was dedicated to the fallen guitarist.
Asked by "The Dark" how the fan reaction has been to SALIVA's live shows since Wayne's passing, Bobby said: "Everyone has been super supportive. All the shows have been great. We did this tour with DROWNING POOL — we did a September/October [run] last year, and then we carried it over into this year, and did another month-long run in May and did festivals like the DWP [Danny Wimmer Presents] stuff. And all the shows have been great, man. I mean, honestly, I can't complain one bit. [I'm] grateful that we're doing it and just continuing to do stuff."
Amaru and and bassist Brad Stewart previously discussed plans for new SALIVA music this past May in an interview with Richmond Register Music.
After the interviewer brought up the prospect of SALIVA dropping singles as opposed to full-length albums going forward, Bobby said: "That's probably the next move, is to do something like that. Just kind of maybe focus on a single or two and then lead it up to [a full-length album]. That's what we did with this one ['Revelation'], though. We started working on this record in 2020, and then we were, like, 'Oh, we'll put it out in 2021.' 'No, we'll put it out in 2022.' [It ended up being] 2023, but we were working singles all up until that."
Brad chimed in: "[People have] such a short attention span, though, in the TikTok world. Afull album? People are, like, 'What am I gonna do with that?' You'd be lucky to get three and a half minutes of their time."
Bobby added: "We do that for the core fans and the hardcore fans that really love full-lengths. I can't imagine a band that I really like giving me one song every six months… And I love doing the vinyl — all that stuff's great."
On March 22, 2023, SALIVA shared a statement on Facebook in which the band said that Swinny had been found that morning "in medical distress." Paramedics were called and the musician was transported to hospital "where he was diagnosed with a Spontaneous Hemorrhage in his brain."
SALIVA was on the road in the U.S. as part of the "Spring Mayhem" tour with THROUGH FIRE and ANY GIVEN SIN and had played in Warrendale, Pennsylvania on March 21, 2023.
When "Revelation" was first announced in July 2023, Amaru said in a statement: "We started working on this record in 2020 during the pandemic shutdown. I felt like we had to get outside of the box with this one.
"I've been sober almost five years now and there are many songs on this record that are a reflection of it. I just wanted to connect with the listener and pull them into what I was dealing with but also shed some light on overcoming personal adversity.
"With the passing of Wayne in March [2023], I felt lost. Where do I go? I knew we had this record we were all stoked about. Wayne's influence is all over these songs and, in my opinion, his playing on this album is next level. It's the only right thing to do to honor him and all our hard work and release it. I just want to share with the world what we have worked on the last three-plus years."
SALIVA's current lineup consists of Amaru and Stewart alongside Sammi Jo Bishop (drums),Sebastian LaBar (guitar) and Josh Kulack (guitar).
SALIVA launched its career in 2001 with the release of "Every Six Seconds", a double-platinum selling album with hits that include "Click Click Boom" and "Your Disease".
The band has toured the U.S. with SEVENDUST, AEROSMITH and KISS.
SALIVA reunited with original singer Josey Scott for a one-off appearance at the 2022 edition of the Blue Ridge Rock Festival at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.
Scott left SALIVA at the end of 2011 after 15 years with the group, reportedly to pursue a solo Christian music career. He was quickly replaced by Amaru, who can be heard on SALIVA's last five releases: "In It To Win It" (2013),"Rise Up" (2014),"Love, Lies & Therapy" (2016),"10 Lives" (2018) and "Revelation" (2023).
SALIVA released six albums with Scott and tasted platinum success and a Grammy nomination for its first big hit, "Your Disease".
In May 2021, SALIVA celebrated the 20th anniversary of its breakthrough major label debut, "Every Six Seconds", with a special project called "Every Twenty Years", an EP of classic songs re-recorded with Amaru. | +1

JOURNEY's NEAL SCHON Talks Mending Fences With JONATHAN CAIN: 'We Just Decided That The Music Is The Music'
In a new interview with Los Angeles-based music journalist Lyndsey Parker, JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon was asked about how he and keyboardist Jonathan Cain have managed to mend fences after publicly feuding over several issues, including Neal allegedly causing over $1 million in personal expenses to be charged to the band's shared American Express card and Schon demanding that Cain stop playing events for former U.S. president Donald Trump. Neal said: "We just decided that the music is the music. We worked really hard and diligently on keeping this thing alive all these years and just not let the other stuff get in the way and kind of keep it separate. It's all right for us to have separate beliefs on everything. It was actually a rule that way before Jonathan was in the band, that our manager made with us all, that we would never have politics involved in our music, or any one religion, because [JOURNEY's music] is for everyone. Anytime you [get political] and you segregate, you're going to lose fans. And why would you want to do that? Just keep it open for everyone to be able to enjoy your music as music."
Asked how he feels when certain JOURNEY songs get used for a cause or a candidate, at a rally or whatever, that is not in line with his personal beliefs, Neal said: "I'm not a fan of it. No, I'm not a fan of it. But it doesn't matter. It's not one way or the other. It's not the left side, not the right side. It's just I'm in the middle and I don't want it to go one way or the other. I think we should remain neutral and let everybody enjoy what they want to enjoy, and I think it's nobody's business. I've never appreciated music [with] politics. I don't think they go hand-in-hand. I think that music is the greatest communicator of the world and that it shouldn't have a label on it to be one way or another. It should be to be conveyed by everyone in their own way."
Cain is a devout born-again Christian whose minister wife Paula White-Cain delivered the invocation at Donald Trump's 2017 presidential inauguration.
Back in December 2022, JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon blasted Cain as a "hypocrite" after the JOURNEY keyboardist performed the band's 1981 hit song "Don't Stop Believin'" at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago property. Cain played the track with a backup chorus of U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.
In the past, Schon has also publicly voiced his opposition to having JOURNEY's music associated with political or religious causes. Back in 2017, he derided Cain on social media after the keyboardist, singer Arnel Pineda and then-bassist Ross Valory were photographed with Trump in the White House.
In a 2017 video interview conducted in the studios of the radio station ONE FM 91.3, Cain could be heard saying: "We're not political; we don't get into politics. We try to stay in our lane, and I just think that's the best answer we can give you." | +1

DAVID REECE Releases "Tomorrow Don't Matter Today" Video Featuring Live Footage From US & Scandinavian Tour
David Reece has just been confirmed as the headliner of Pirates Metal Night - 10 Years El Puerto Records. Reason enough to give an impression of his live concerts with a new video.
"Tomorrow Don't Matter Today" uses live footage from his release tour through the USAand Scandinavia, which took place directly after the release of his latest album, Baptized By Fire, on March 1. Watch below:
Not much more needs to be said about David Reece. Since the late 80s, his charismatic voice has enhanced successful albums by Accept, Bangalore Choir, Bonfire and the Sainted Sinners, among others. In addition to this, however, he also continued to focus on his solo career.
As the cover and title Baptized By Fire already suggests, his latest album is significantly "heavier" than its two predecessors. Twelve new songs full of power, mature and varied. One reason for this is certainly his new band lineup. In his adopted home of Italy, he found three highly talented, creative collaborators with whom he was able to work on the songs around the clock. A paradise for a "thoroughbred" musician like Reece.
Baptized By Fire is available via via El Puerto Records. The artwork was created by Newton Artworxx.

Is LARS ULRICH Playing Some Of His Best Shows In 20 Years? JAMES HETFIELD Weighs In
During an appearance on a recent episode of "The Metallica Report", the podcast offering weekly insider updates on all things METALLICA, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was asked if he would agree that Lars Ulrich is "probably playing some of the best gigs he's played in well over a decade, if not 20 years," on the ongoing "M72" tour. James responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I'd say this tour in general, the last two years, we've been building up to it. Absolutely. Absolutely playing great.
"I hope he's having fun and [is] not too worried about his playing, 'cause he would let his emotions just take him," Hetfield continued. "Now he's a little more concerned about the click track and playing along with it, being solid.
"But, yeah, I think as a group, we are all playing really, really great, really tight," James added. "And it doesn't scare me, but I don't mind fucking things up. It's fun. There's still mistakes — or not mistakes, but there's still unique moments that happen, and it's good. We don't want to be that frickin' polished machine up there at all, so no matter how practiced, no matter how good we think we're doing, there's still stuff that happens."
Three years ago, Lars told METALLICA's So What! fan-club magazine that he is no longer bothered by people's criticism of his drumming abilities. At the time, the Danish-born musician said: "Unlike years ago, I basically don't read any of the interviews that the other guys [in METALLICA] do. 20 or 30 years ago, we would all sit and fucking read every page of Kerrang! and every page of Circus magazine, see what so-and-so's saying and what the other band members were saying, what James [Hetfield, METALLICA guitarist/vocalist] was saying about this and that. Now there's just none of that. I also don't really read what people say about METALLICA.
"I'll say that occasionally, once every six months or something like that, it's kind of fun to go through the trolling section just because of the ridiculousness of all of it, but it's not something that I do regularly anymore," he revealed. "20 years ago, it would've been, 'Oh, my God, somebody said something bad,' or, 'That person said a nasty comment in the comments section,' or whatever. Now, none of that really means anything to me."
Back in 2016, Ulrich, who has gotten a lot of flak over the years from people who accused him of being a poor drummer, told the "Talk Is Jericho" podcast that he went through a period in the mid-1980s "that probably culminated in the 'Justice' album where I felt sort of compelled to try to show ability."
According to Lars, part of the reason for him feeling insecure about his abilities was the increased competition from some of his peers.
"Listen, when you've got Dave Lombardo and Charlie Benante breathing down your back, it was, like, 'Okay, I've gotta…' I tried to step it up a little bit and tried to do my own thing and do all this crazy shit," he said. "I was trying really hard to push the drums kind of into the foreground. And then, after like a year or two of that, I was, like, 'Okay. Seriously? Just do your thing. Chill out. Support the riffs. Do what's best for the song.' So since around I guess the late '80s — so I guess it's been, like, 25 years now — the only thing that's really interested me is just doing the best thing for the song."
Asked in a 2008 interview with U.K.'s Rhythm magazine if he was troubled by the fact that he's gotten a lot of flak over the years from people who accused him of being a poor drummer, Lars said: "It used to, back in the day — and I spent a lot of time overcompensating for that on the early records. But then you wake up one day and you're like, whatever. It hasn't bothered me for [many] years. I'm no Joey Jordison, I'm no Mike Portnoy, and I have nothing but love and respect and admiration for all those guys. When I hear some of the young dudes, they blow my mind with what they can do with their feet and stuff — but it's not something that makes me go, 'I need to feel better about myself so I'm gonna learn how to do what they do with my feet.' I'm not a particularly accomplished drummer but I am very, very, very good at understanding the role of the drums next to James Hetfield's rhythm guitar. I guarantee you I'm the best guy in the world for that, and that's enough for me."
Ulrich stated about his playing ability in a 2012 interview with DRUM! magazine: "I usually feel like I've regressed. [Laughs] I'm like, 'Why can't I do that anymore?'" He continued: "I can't say that I necessarily sit down to practice, like, 'I'm going to play and practice so I can get better.' What happens is that I just sit down and kind of play to just more stay in shape."
Ulrich added: "You know, METALLICA was up to two or three months off [in 2011], and I would sit down, I have an iPod next to my drums so I can play along to all kind of crazy stuff, and try to see if I can land in the same zip code of some of that stuff occasionally. But I can't say that I sit down to necessarily practice to sort of get better. For most of my stuff, it's about listening and about interpreting stuff that I'm listening to. So all the kind of sitting down and, you know, 'Now I'm going to do thirty-second-note paradiddles standing on my head — you know what I mean? I don't do that kind of stuff so much. For me it's more about the regimen of staying in shape, running every day, eating healthy, you know, being on top of that side of it."

JASON CHARLES MILLER Signs With One Opportunity Records; Knives In The Dark Album Due In August
Accomplished southern rock/Americana artist, Jason Charles Miller, is proud to announce his signing to One Opportunity Records, where he will release his new album, Knives In The Dark, on August 16. The release will be followed by a North American tour with Steel Panther that launches August in Buffalo, NY.
“This is the first album I’ve written where my only goal was to write the best songs I can, and not worry about where they might be categorized,” says Miller. “By not going out of my way to write for a specific genre, I’ve made what is, hands down, the best – and most representative – album of my career.”
‘Knives’ will be Miller’s fifth full-length solo album, alongside multiple EPs and singles and a host of high-profile soundtrack and theme music work for shows and games including Critical Role, Metal Gear Rising, Cyberpunk 2077, Legends of the Multiverse and AEW professional wrestler Brandon Cutler.
Miller’s music contributions to the Final Fantasy video game franchise have made him a fan favorite to players of the game, and he is featured regularly at Final Fantasy Fan Fest events worldwide, including upcoming officially sanctioned tour stops in China, Japan and South Korea this fall, where he will perform Final Fantasy XIV music alongside all-star ensembles and orchestras.
Widely recognized as the frontman and founder of the rock band Godhead, where he toured the world with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Miller transitioned to a solo artist with the release of his Last To Go Home EP in 2009.
Seamlessly blending the worlds of Americana, rock and country, his solo career has seen him share stages with greats including Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Ashley McBryde, .38 Special, Allman Betts Band and more.
Find Miller's tour itinerary here.
