EDDIE VAN HALEN's Wife JANIE: 'My Heart And Soul Have Been Shattered Into A Million Pieces'

EDDIE VAN HALEN's Wife JANIE: 'My Heart And Soul Have Been Shattered Into A Million Pieces'

Eddie Van Halen's wife Janie Van Halen (née Liszewski) has paid tribute to her late husband, saying that they "have a connection and love that will always be."

Eddie died on Tuesday (October 6) at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Janie was by his side, along with his son, Wolfgang, and Alex, Eddie's brother and VAN HALEN drummer.

Earlier today (Wednesday, October 7), Janie took to her social media to write: "My husband, my love, my Peep,

"My heart and soul have been shattered into a million pieces.

"I never knew it was possible to cry so many tears or feel such incredible sadness.

"Our journey together has not always been an easy one but in the end and always we have a connection and love that will always be.

"Saying goodbye is the hardest thing I have ever had to do so instead I say so long, I will see you again soon in a place with no pain or sorrow.

"Please watch over Kody and I. We love you and miss you so very much.

"Love, your PooPee".

Prior to tying the knot with Liszewski in 2009, Eddie was married for more than two decades to actress Valerie Bertinelli.

Janie is a stuntwoman-turned-publicist who owns her own public relations agency High Profile Media.

Eddie died from complications due to cancer, his son confirmed.

The guitarist was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2000 and had tongue surgery. He was later diagnosed with throat cancer and reportedly had been receiving radiation treatment in Germany.

EDDIE VAN HALEN's Ex-Wife VALERIE BERTINELLI: 'I'm So Grateful WOLFIE And I Were Able To Hold You In Your Last Moments'

EDDIE VAN HALEN's Ex-Wife VALERIE BERTINELLI: 'I'm So Grateful WOLFIE And I Were Able To Hold You In Your Last Moments'

Eddie Van Halen's ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli has paid tribute to the iconic guitarist who died earlier today (Tuesday, October 6) at the age of 65. His death was confirmed by Eddie and Valerie's son, VAN HALEN bassist Wolfgang Van Halen.

Earlier today, Valerie shared a photo of her, Eddie and Wolfgang, taken while Wolfgang was was still toddler, and she included the following message: "40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang. Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I'm so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love."

Bertinelli split with Van Halen in 2002 after 21 years of marriage. They officially divorced in 2007. Eddie then went on to marry Janie Liszewski in 2009.

"One of the many reasons that Ed and I split up is to give Wolfie a better vision of what two people who are supposedly in love treat each other like," Valerie told Oprah.com. "Ed and I weren't treating each other like two people that loved each other, and that's what Wolfie was seeing. So I'm hoping that when he does get married and start a life for himself, that he takes his time and marries a friend and not just someone that he can't keep his hands off."

Valerie went on to say that leaving Eddie wasn't an easy choice. "We were all very raw from 9/11, and you heard all these stories of people coming together," she said. "They hated each other and they were back together and divorces weren't happening anymore. And I'm like, 'Am I the only one in the world that wants out now because of 9/11? I'm not going to live my life if it's that tenuous. That's not how I want to live my life anymore.'"

According to TMZ, Eddie died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. His wife, Janie, was also by his side, along with Alex, Eddie's brother and VAN HALEN drummer.

The site reports that Eddie's ongoing health battle went massively downhill in the last 72 hours, with doctors discovering his cancer had moved to his brain as well as other organs.

There have been a lot of rumors regarding the VAN HALEN guitarist's supposedly worsening health, with TMZ reporting recently that Van Halen has been traveling between the U.S. and Germany for cancer treatment going on several years now.

Last November, TMZ reported that Eddie spent several days in a hospital due to complications from his cancer treatment. Sources close to the legendary guitarist told the site he was admitted to the hospital with intestinal issues and abdominal pain, both the result of a bad reaction to the drugs Eddie was reportedly taking to battle throat cancer.

Ex-VAN HALEN Bassist MICHAEL ANTHONY Is 'Heartbroken' Over EDDIE VAN HALEN's Death

Ex-VAN HALEN Bassist MICHAEL ANTHONY Is 'Heartbroken' Over EDDIE VAN HALEN's Death

Ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony has reacted to the passing of Eddie Van Halen. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist died earlier today (Tuesday, October 6) at the age of 65. His death was confirmed by his son, and VAN HALEN bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen.

Anthony took to his Instagram to share a few onstage photos of him and Eddie, and he included the following caption: "No words...Heartbroken, my love to the family".

VAN HALEN and Anthony had not been on good terms for more than a decade, with Anthony not invited to join the reunion with singer David Lee Roth that began in 2007. The subsequent two tours and studio album, "A Different Kind Of Truth", featured Wolfgang on bass.

Anthony took a pay cut and signed away all of his rights to the band name and logo in order to participate in VAN HALEN's 2004 tour, which featured Hagar.

Back in June 2019, Michael — who spent much of the last few years on the road with SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE — confirmed to SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" that he was approached by VAN HALEN's management in 2018 about re-teaming with the group.

The rumors originally started with Roth, who hinted to Vulture that VAN HALEN would be playing stadiums in the summer of 2019 with Anthony back in the lineup.

Anthony's THE CIRCLE bandmate Sammy Hagar — himself a former VH member — was the first to publicly confirm that Michael was contacted by VAN HALEN's management about reuniting with the group for a tour.

LAMB OF GOD's MARK MORTON: 'EDDIE VAN HALEN Is The Sole Reason I Ever Dreamed Of Playing Guitar'

LAMB OF GOD's Mark Morton has paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen, who died earlier today (Tuesday, October 6) at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist's death was confirmed by his son, and VAN HALEN bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen.

Morton said in a statement: "Edward Van Halen is the world's greatest guitar hero. Pushing the limits of technical ability, innovation and style, Eddie single-handedly set the standard of what rock guitar playing was for his own generation and the ones that followed. His impact was not confined solely to the mastery of guitar. As a songwriter, Edward's pop sensibility and song craft propelled his band VAN HALEN through decades of worldwide, chart-topping success, weathering extreme shifts in popular music trends. His impact on rock music cannot be measured.

"Eddie Van Halen is the sole reason I ever dreamed of playing guitar. Literally millions of people all over the world have found a passion for music through his work. I am grateful to have been one of them.

"Eddie Van Halen will be loved and celebrated forever."

Former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 has paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen, who died earlier today (Tuesday, October 6) at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist's death was confirmed by his son, and VAN HALEN bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen.

John 5 said in a statement: "Eddie Van Halen was a modern-day Mozart, and it is just so sad to see him go. He was so young. He is immortal and will live on forever. He was an inventor and the greatest guitar player of all time... The thing is, he took guitar to such new places that no one has done before, and he was just such an incredible player. And on top of all of that, he was an incredible songwriter too.

"Anyone who ever picked up a guitar has played a VAN HALEN riff.

"Eddie was like someone we all might never again see the likes of in this world — he was that special.

"Thank you for changing the world."

AC/DC's ANGUS YOUNG: EDDIE VAN HALEN 'Was A Guitar Wonder, His Playing Pure Wizardry'

AC/DC's ANGUS YOUNG: EDDIE VAN HALEN 'Was A Guitar Wonder, His Playing Pure Wizardry'

AC/DC's Angus Young has paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen, who died on Tuesday (October 6) at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist's death was confirmed by his son, VAN HALEN bassist Wolfgang Van Halen.

Angus said in a statement: "Eddie was a guitar wonder, his playing pure wizardry. To the world of music he was a special gift. To those of us fortunate enough to have met him, a very special person. He leaves a big hole in a lot of hearts. To the Van Halen family my heartfelt sympathies."

In Neil Zlozower's photo book, simply titled "Eddie Van Halen", Angus stated about Eddie: "AC/DC played on a bill with VAN HALEN back in 1978 or 1979 for a Bill Graham 'Day On The Green' show. I didn't know much about VAN HALEN then except that I remember seeing film clips of them, especially the one of Eddie playing the solo piece, 'Eruption', and I was very impressed. I didn't meet Eddie until years later when there was a Monsters Of Rock open-air festival in England. I was shocked to hear he liked my playing, because I've never rated myself as a guitarist.

"Eddie is an innovator. When I grew up we had a lot of guys from England who were great players, like Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. And then, of course, when Jimi Hendrix came along, he changed the game. I'd put Eddie in that category of being an innovator like Hendrix. He changed the game for his style of playing. When Eddie came along, he spawned so many imitators. Like Hendrix, suddenly you started to see people wanting to buy the same guitars he played and also play his licks. He turned the rule book upside down in terms of his approach. There was a lot of experimentation to his playing. Eddie also crosses into that avant-garde thing, which puts him in the same category as Hendrix.

"'Eruption' is a favorite track. He's got everything characteristic of his playing in that song — there's a bit of everything.

"When Jimi Hendrix came along it was like, 'Where did this guy come from?', and I think that was the same feeling with Eddie. When Eddie appeared on the scene, every guitarist I ran into said, 'You've gotta hear this guy!'"

According to TMZ, Eddie died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. His wife, Janie, was by his side, along with Wolfgang, and Alex, Eddie's brother and VAN HALEN drummer.

Elliott said in a statement: "I saw VAN HALEN destroy [BLACK] SABBATH at the Sheffield City Hall in 1977... Eddie was a big part of that, having essentially reinvented guitar playing just like Jimi Hendrix had done a generation earlier....l had the pleasure of being on the same bill as VAN HALEN 7 years ago when KINGS OF CHAOS were on the same bill at the Stone Music Festival in Australia. I'm happy to say that his playing that night was as good as it's ever been, he certainly shook things up when he came on the scene.... Rest In Peace Eddie.."

Campbell added: "I distinctly remember the first moment I heard Eddie play. A good friend, also a guitarist, had just bought the first VAN HALEN album and came by my house and told me that I urgently needed to hear this. He wasn't wrong; it was a moment that redefined everything that I thought was possible about playing the guitar. The goalposts had just been moved. I stayed up all that night trying to learn from Eddie. Many, many decades later, and I'm still learning from Eddie."

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE To Perform Entire 'Creatures' Album During Livestream Event

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE To Perform Entire 'Creatures' Album During Livestream Event

Craft Recordings celebrates the 10th anniversary of MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's acclaimed debut album, "Creatures", with a special reissue — available on vinyl, cassette, and digital formats this Friday, October 9. The vinyl release features newly reimagined artwork, while the deluxe digital release includes three bonus tracks — "Dragula", "Creatures" (Celldweller Beauty Remix), and "Mallevs Maleficarvm" (Tim Skold Remix). Limited to just 1,000 copies, the cassette of "Creatures" can be found via the band's web site or at CraftRecordings.com. The LP, meanwhile, comes pressed on yellow, purple, and black-splattered vinyl and is available exclusively on the band's web site. The band also plans to perform "Creatures" in its entirety during a streaming event on October 28. Tickets for the livestream are on sale now at miwmerch.com.

Declared to be "America's premier industri-metal goth-core outfit" by Alternative Press, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE formed in 2005 when the Scranton, Pennsylvania band members were still in high school. Influenced by MARILYN MANSON, DEPECHE MODE, SLIPKNOT and ROB ZOMBIE, the young group gained a devoted fan base, thanks to their moody blend of driving metal, goth, and industrial music, as well as their striking aesthetic.

Following their 2007 debut EP, "The Whorror", and a successful run on the Warped Tour, MIW caught the ears of Fearless Records. Upon signing, they released a follow-up EP, "When Love Met Destruction" (2009), and entered the studio with producer Andrew Wade (THE WORD ALIVE, A DAY TO REMEMBER, CHUNK! NO, CAPTAIN CHUNK!), to record their first full-length.

The result was 2010's "Creatures", which was inspired by — and dedicated to — the band's ardent fanbase (who call themselves "Creatures"). Ahead of recording, MIW encouraged their fans to send in lyrics — many of which were collectively included in the title track. The album also included the participation of fellow artists, including Nick Brooks of IT DIES TODAY, who contributed vocals to the single "Abigail", as well as Andre Bravo of IN ALCATRAZ 1962, who sang on "Cobwebs". Other highlights included "Immaculate Misconception" (the video included a cameo by TWISTED SISTER's Dee Snider) and single "Puppets (The First Snow)".

Upon its release, "Creatures" debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and peaked in the Hard Rock Albums' Top 20. It also received a warm reception from the critics. AllMusic praised the band's use of synthesizers "to create a dark and uneasy atmosphere. This blend of the frightening and the familiar gives 'Creatures' not only the ability to draw fans in with something they'll immediately click with but which will keep them coming back for another helping." The U.K.'s Rock Sound declared, "It's good to see an of-the-moment band taking things seriously," adding that MIW "push past the boundaries of screamo into more metallic territories, their intermittently screamed and harmonized vocals, epic choruses, and brutal breakdowns keep them firmly in touch with their roots."

Since then, MIW has released four more full-lengths, including their best-selling 2014 LP, "Reincarnate", which debuted at No.9 on the Billboard Top 200, and No.1 on the Rock Albums chart. The band, which currently consists of frontman Chris "Motionless" Cerulli, Ryan Sitkowski (guitar), Ricky "Horror" Olson (rhythm guitar), Vinny Mauro (drums), and bassist Justin Morrow, released their fifth studio album, "Disguise", in 2019, and followed with a rigorous headlining tour. Most recently, they shared a well-received cover of THE KILLERS' "Somebody Told Me" to streaming platforms, while this spring, the band confirmed that they are working on new material.

"After 10 years of our monumental record 'Creatures', we are pleased to celebrate this October with a limited reissue vinyl featuring a completely revamped artwork, our first-ever throwback cassette tape pressing of an album, a digital deluxe edition, and most excitingly…our first-ever performance of a record in entirety in which we will be performing the 'Creatures' album as a stream on the 28th of the month," says Chris Motionless. "After 10 years, we are so grateful that our fans hold this record as close to their hearts as we do and cannot thank them enough for helping us reach our first 10-year anniversary of an album. Here's to 10 more!"

ALBERT BOUCHARD Reimagines BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's 'Imaginos' Album With 'Re Imaginos'

ALBERT BOUCHARD Reimagines BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's 'Imaginos' Album With 'Re Imaginos'

Albert Bouchard, who is best known as a founding member of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, will release "Re Imaginos" on November 6 through he and his brother's (Joe Bouchard) new imprint label, RockHeart Records/Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group). The album is Albert's reimagining of the 1988 BLUE ÖYSTER CULT LP "Imaginos", which was originally intended as Albert's solo album. As Albert explains: "Most BOC fans know at this point that 'Imaginos' was supposed to be my solo album. Some people think it's the best BOC album, others think it's not a 'true' BOC album. In either case, they're right. I made this new album for them so that they can hear a more properly realized version of the tale."

The original BLUE ÖYSTER CULT lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart "Burning For You".

"Black Telescope" is the first single and video and tells the story of an undead creature that takes the form of a fish and now uses alchemy to rule the solar system. This being sees with the power of the mind and does not need eyes. It was more ordinary and needed the help of technology to rule the world in the past, at a time when it was in the shape of a human sailor and knew the dangers of the deep. When the sailor went to the telescope workshop, he experienced a strange rebirth and became an all-powerful force.

SHINEDOWN Gives $250,000 From 'Atlas Falls' Fundraiser To DIRECT RELIEF

SHINEDOWN Gives $250,000 From 'Atlas Falls' Fundraiser To DIRECT RELIEF

SHINEDOWN has presented its first installment check of $230,000 from their "Atlas Falls" COVID-19 fundraiser to humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief, one of the largest providers of humanitarian medical resources in the world whose mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources needed for their care. This follows the $20,000 that SHINEDOWN donated to kick off the fundraiser in March, bringing the total delivered to Direct Relief so far to a quarter million dollars. More than $300,000 has been raised to date and counting.

Direct Relief has been working tirelessly to provide personal protective equipment to frontline health workers responding to coronavirus (COVID-19) and essential medications and supplies for patients. This includes 10,800 shipments to more than 1,800 health care facilities across all 50 U.S. states and 62 countries, totaling more than 3.4 million masks, 2.8 million gloves, 119,000 gowns and coveralls, 600 oxygen concentrators and ventilators, as well as 40.1 million doses of medications to treat a range of chronic and acute health conditions.

Originally written in 2013, the song "Atlas Falls" was first made available from SHINEDOWN's vault in March as part of an exclusive song and t-shirt bundle for the band‘s COVID-19 fundraising effort with all proceeds going to Direct Relief. Following an overwhelming response to the song, its reassuring message of optimism and faith in humanity spread even further upon its global release in May. Drawing inspiration from the Greek myth of titan Atlas who carries a celestial sphere on his shoulders, "Atlas Falls" offers a reminder that if Atlas falls, we will hold each other up in times of strife and stand tall together. The "Atlas Falls" t-shirt is still available with 100% of proceeds continuing to go to Direct Relief.

"Atlas Falls" recently gave SHINEDOWN the record for the most No. 1s ever in the nearly 40-year history of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, scoring their 16th No. 1. The song also marked the band's 17th No. 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart and their sixth consecutive No. 1, following "How Did You Love", "Devil", "Get Up", "Monsters" and "Attention Attention".

STRYPER Releases Music Video For 'Divider'

STRYPER Releases Music Video For 'Divider'

The official music video for "Divider", the new single from openly Christian hard rockers STRYPER, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's latest album, "Even The Devil Believes", which was released on September 4 via Frontiers Music Srl.

STRYPER comments: "We are so amazed at the response of our first video, 'Do Unto Others'.

"We are very blessed to have been able to not only shoot one video but to also shoot a second video for 'Divider'.

"This song has received an incredible amount of positive comments from fans worldwide. And to top it off, we recorded a group of fans on the choruses. They nailed it!!

"We're very happy to bring you yet another incredible video (despite the obstacles and difficulties of trying to do so) and we hope you like what you see/hear. Please help us spread the word and take this one to the top. Here is 'Divider'!"

Filled with the band's signature riffs, harmony-laden melodies and positive themes, the 11-track project is STRYPER's first studio album with Perry Richardson (FIREHOUSE) on bass and background vocals.

"We're incredibly happy to write a new chapter in the book of STRYPER," says vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet, who has served as the band's primary songwriter since its inception in 1983. "This album was recorded during the pandemic, and I believe the message pertains to the times we are living in so perfectly. It's a recording of hope and inspiration and a light in the darkest of times."

Sweet, who also produced the new album, revealed that the band members delivered focused determination, a collaborative spirit and spot-on execution for the new record. The result is a collection of remarkable songs that will leave a strong impact on listeners.

"It has an energy unlike any other album we've done," he asserts. "We even pulled a song from the past that has never been heard or released, and by doing so we brought a little bit of 1989 back into the mix."

Other standout tracks include "Blood From Above", "Make Love Great Again", "Do Unto Others", "How To Fly" and the heart-stirring ballad "This I Pray".

"The music and lyrics are rock-solid," says Sweet. "God really blessed this one and hopefully it will bless everyone who hears it as well."

Most of the recording sessions for STRYPER's new LP took place at SpiritHouse Recording Studios in Northampton, Massachusetts with engineer Danny Bernini.

Formed 37 years ago, STRYPER is the first overtly Christian metal band to go mainstream. The group's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen" and "God Damn Evil".

BROKENRAIL Unleash New Single / Video "The Hate"

BROKENRAIL Unleash New Single / Video "The Hate"

Birmingham, AL based BrokenRail has released the official music video for their new single, "The Hate". Written and recorded during the lockdowns, "The Hate" not only introduces an all new era of BrokenRail, but captures the raw emotion of being left behind in a world trapped with panic, chaos, unrest, uncertainty, and anxiety. It reflects the current state of the world facing lockdown, financial insecurity, social unrest, and the overall experience of living through a global pandemic. We must come together and accept our differences and find the common ground amongst us. United we are strong, divided we fall.

"When writing 'The Hate' we really wanted the song to not only showcase the abilities of each of our members, but to also reflect all of the negative emotion worldwide stemming from the virus and the lockdowns it caused. We feel between the song itself, and the video we created, we truly captured a snapshot of the current state of the world as COVID-19 helped fan the flames and fuel the fires of hate across our Earth. We hope you enjoy the new direction and we're thrilled to bring you the new album later this year!" - Blake Clawson (lead vocalist)

Psarakis recently checked in with the following:

"Aaaand it's out! Check out my cover of 'Only For The Weak' by In Flames!

I first heard this song over half of my life ago. Clayman was one of the albums that I blasted on repeat as a teenager and a big reason for me getting into death metal! Really happy to have worked with Quentin Cornet on this one. He did an excellent job on recording and mixing the entire track!

FATES WARNING Releases Lyric Video For New Single 'Now Comes The Rain'

FATES WARNING Releases Lyric Video For New Single 'Now Comes The Rain'

On November 6, FATES WARNING will release its new album, "Long Day Good Night", via Metal Blade Records. The official lyric video for the disc's second single, "Now Comes The Rain", can be seen below.

FATES WARNING has been a formidable presence in progressive metal for more than 35 years, helping to shape and drive the genre without ever compromising its integrity or losing relevance. They return in 2020 with "Long Day Good Night", the most epic and longest album of its storied career, mixed by Joe Barresi.

"The styles of music we've written distinguish this record from the rest of our catalogue," states vocalist Ray Alder. "There are some songs with electronics and some with a nice ethereal feel, as well as some pretty straightforward grooves, at least for us. And there are also some pretty heavy songs. We tried to give the listener a host of different things to listen to, as opposed to an album where every song sounds the same." As such, the album is something of a rollercoaster ride, moving through various moods and making for perhaps their most vital release to date.

Guitarist Jim Matheos began writing the album in mid-2019, working closely with Alder for about a year, honing the songs, completing 13 for their 13th full-length — which, uncoincidentally, has a total running time of 72:22. Despite their long history of making records, Alder makes it clear that the songs take a lot of work to realize.

"Like all albums, nothing comes easy," he says. "It's quite a process to go from the idea to the actual finished song. Sometimes you think you're done with it, then you hear something else and you have to try that. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but you at least have to try it just so you know that in the end you've done everything possible to make it as good as it can be. Jim and I spent practically every day for the last year writing this album. I am very happy with the outcome, and with the blend of styles. I guess I could say that this album represents all of the years that we have been together."

The record also features guest appearances from touring guitarist Mike Abdow, who contributed some solos, plus PORCUPINE TREE/THE PINEAPPLE THIEF drummer Gavin Harrison, who plays on "When Snow Falls". "Under The Sun" sees the band incorporating a full string section for the first time.

"Long Day Good Night" track listing:

01. The Destination Onward

02. Shuttered World

03. Alone We Walk

04. Now Comes The Rain

05. The Way Home

06. Under The Sun

07. Scars

08. Begin Again

09. When Snow Falls

10. Liar

11. Glass Houses

12. The Longest Shadow Of The Day

13. The Last Song

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Perform Entire 'Purple' Album During Livestream Event

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Perform Entire 'Purple' Album During Livestream Event

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will perform their iconic album "Purple" in its entirety for an epic livestream event on Friday October 16 at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST via watch.stonetemplepilots.com.

Tickets for the livestream event are $10.00 and can be purchased here.

Exclusive STP merch will be available to ticket purchasers.

When STONE TEMPLE PILOTS returned to the studio in 1994 to record the band's second album, the quartet was facing the high expectations set by its debut "Core" (1992), which sold more than eight million copies and earned a Grammy Award. The release of "Purple" on June 7, 1994 would cement their place as one of the definitive bands of their generation as the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart on its way to selling more than six million copies.

Scott Weiland, Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz recorded most of "Purple" in Atlanta with producer Brendan O'Brien. The album features some of the group's most iconic tracks, including "Interstate Love Song" and "Vasoline" — which both topped the Mainstream Rock chart in 1994.

"Purple: Super Deluxe Edition" was made available in September 2019 via Rhino. The 3-CD/1-LP set includes a newly remastered version of the original studio album on both CD and vinyl, plus unreleased versions of album tracks and rarities, along with an unreleased full concert recording from 1994. On the same day, the music was made available both digitally and as a 2-CD Deluxe Edition.

"Purple: Super Deluxe Edition" explores the making of the album with a mix of unreleased music that includes demos ("Unglued" and "Army Ants") and early versions of album tracks ("Meat Plow" and "Interstate Love Song"), plus acoustic recordings ("Big Empty"). The collection also features three unreleased live performances from the 1994 KROQ Acoustic Christmas show, including a version of "Christmastime Is Here" from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Perhaps the biggest surprise of the new collection, however, is STP's previously unreleased demo of "She Knows Me Too Well", a song the BEACH BOYS originally recorded in 1965.

"Purple: Super Deluxe Edition" closes with a previously unreleased recording of the band's August 23, 1994 concert in New Haven, Connecticut. The electrifying 17-song performance captures the band in top form with both electric and acoustic sets, featuring 10 songs from "Purple" along with hits from "Core" ("Plush" and "Sex Type Thing") and covers (David Bowie's "Andy Warhol" and Woody Guthrie's "Gypsy Davy").

MEXICAN APE-LORD Drops New Song “So Much Wasted Rope”; Survival Cannibalism Tracklisting Revealed

MEXICAN APE-LORD Drops New Song “So Much Wasted Rope”; Survival Cannibalism Tracklisting Revealed

Mexican Ape-Lord, "the raw and epic metal band from Boston" have released a second song “So Much Wasted Rope” from their upcoming album, Survival Cannibalism, due out on October 9th via Unable Records. The songs on Survival Cannibalism were inspired by a true story of the Nottingham Galley shipwreck and the cannibalism that took place on Boon Island, Maine in 1710.

“I wanted to get inside the heads of these tormented guys, whose suffering drove them to do the unthinkable,” says singer Jon Hardy. “It’s an grim subject, obviously, but a great one for Tony, Dan, and Steve, because they are masterful at covering the full range, musically - from utter darkness to the thrill of cheating death.”

Drummer Steve Fry on the recording of “So Much Wasted Rope” said: “From the very beginning, this song was always among my favorites because it just sounded like pure trouble haha! Especially that verse riff…it’s completely up to no good! So when I was coming up with the drum parts, it was all about accentuating that. I just wanted to lay into it with that simple kick/snare combo so it would be powerful while giving the riff the space to do its thing. It's one of those songs I like to think it's actually more about what you DON’T do as a drummer than what you do that makes all the difference!”

The band’s debut album, The Late Heavy Bombardment, was released in 2014 on Unable Records and made a slew of top ten lists. BraveWords called it “a balls-out metal album” and True Metal Lives declared, “It proudly stands up and gives genre labeling the big middle finger.”

Survival Cannibalism tracklisting:
“Black Cloud”
“Situation”
“No Deliverance”
“So Much Wasted Rope”
“The Devil Does Divide Us”
“Stinkin’ Drunk on Blood”
“Dereliction”
“Mezzick and Drakelord”

Mexican Ape-Lord features Meliah Rage founding guitarist/songwriter Anthony Nichols, The Bags vocalist/bassist Jon Hardy, drummer named Steve Fry (Crotalus, Graveheart) and lead guitarist Dan Dykes (Triphammer).

MESHUGGAH Has 'Most Of The Material' For Next Album; Late 2021 Release Planned

MESHUGGAH Has 'Most Of The Material' For Next Album; Late 2021 Release Planned

In a new interview with Terry "Beez" Bezer of Knotfest.com's "Mosh Talks With Beez", MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake confirmed that the band has spent much of the downtime during the COVID-19 pandemic working on material for a new album.

"Since March, we all kind of separated, and Jens [Kidman, vocals] took all his stuff and started working from home," he said (see video below). "And me and Dick [Lövgren, bass], the bass player, we usually work a lot together, but he also worked separately since then. But at this point, we're back together, and we're trying to hammer it out."

According to Haake, working remotely hasn't posed any huge any problems for him and his bandmates so far.

"By now, Internet is so fast, even huge files — like gigabyte files — you can just send 'em back and forth; it's not really a big problem," he explained. "So we've been able to keep working. But it's still at a fifth or a tenth of the pace that you normally would have when you're working together [in person]… Just changing one riff… Every single little thing you're trying to do or adjust within a song or an idea takes days instead of maybe hours when you're sitting together at the studio.

"If you're a band that kind of jam up stuff or you kind of write together as a band in the rehearsal space or whatever, it would obviously be very different, if you can't do that. We're not really that type of band, and we haven't really been that type of band since the early '90s, mid-'90s. So for us, it's not that big of a deal. We write separately a lot of stuff. And Mårten [Hagström, guitar], he lives up north — he works at home on his stuff. Me and Dick, the bass player, we work on stuff here, usually together. Jens works separately from us and so on.

"Since we program drums — that's kind of how we do demos nowadays. We don't go into the studio and record demos, like we used to. So for us, programming drums and recording into the computer and doing it that way, that's kind of how we've been doing it for so long now. So, fortunately, I would say, this hasn't really hampered us that much, other than just the time aspect of things."

Speaking in more details about the MESHUGGAH songwriting process, Tomas said: "It does take us quite a bit of time with each album. And we're also very easily distracted. We don't write on the road. Some bands, you see they have gear set up in their bus and they're constantly writing. We're not that type of band. We really need to just have time completely off and preferably not even a gig date in the calendar. That way, we can kind of relax and get into the writing and get into that modus."

Asked how far into the writing process for the new MESHUGGAH album he and his bandmates are at the moment, Haake said: "I think we have most of the material for the new album. It takes a long time for us between each album, and this time, due to COVID as well, it's gonna be longer than usual, I think. Right now, we're aiming at a release in late '21. Then the question mark right now is, is touring even gonna happen at that point? And if not, do you release the album or do you hold off with it and try to make money some other ways, like doing live shows on the Internet or whatever? So, yeah, it's time consuming, for sure. We tend to scrutinize everything we do a lot, too, so… I think, to some degree, you just turn kind of insane over time when you try to do this thing, because we always try to challenge ourselves and we always try to find something that [we] haven't done before. But we've done this for 30 years now, so it's harder and harder to find what's special with this — like, 'This riff, is it cool enough? Or what's going on?' So you tend to kind of overly scrutinize things. And sometimes you just kind of paint yourself into a corner with that kind of thinking. And sometimes you even realize, 'I can't even listen to this. Why would we release anything like this? It doesn't even make sense.' So you have to find kind of a balance. What's a good balance of a song or an album as far as technical aspects? And what do people wanna hear? What do we wanna hear? And hopefully we can get to some kind of good level of mix in that. But that's always an aspect too. And definitely with the years that we've put into it, we definitely feel like we're more and more locked. It just gets more and more narrow. With each album, you're just kind of in a tighter and tighter space."

Regarding the musical direction of the new MESHUGGAH material, Tomas said: "Of course, we have a certain framework that we still wanna sound like MESHUGGAH, we wanna have that signature sound, we want people to be able to — even if they haven't heard the song [before] — in the best-case scenario, it's, like, 'Oh, that's gotta be MESHUGGAH,' even if it's a brand new thing. So hopefully that's something we're aiming at. But with that said, as far as the music goes, we try to [do] kind of the opposite of what AC/DC has been doing for 40 years. So we're not trying to write the same album over and over. And whether we succeed with that or not, that's more up to our fans and other people, but that's definitely the aim. We try our best to kind of find new grips within the framework of what we're supposed to be, I guess. 'Cause we don't wanna really step out of that either. We're not looking to be another band all of a sudden or something that we haven't been or that is not true to kind of what we're doing."

Haake said that MESHUGGAH has fared better during the coronavirus-related music shutdown than most other artists.

"We know a lot of bands that just had their album out or just finished something and were just about to go on tour, and this [pandemic] happened," he said. "So, of course, we feel with 'em — that's no fun. We were fortunate enough [in that] we just kind of finished the tour run for [MESHUGGAH's last album] 'The Violent Sleep Of Reason', so we're just writing. We played a lot the last few years, so we had a good amount of cash in the bank to keep us afloat for a while, so we've been really fortunate in all this compared to a lot of bands that are just — they're done. What are they supposed to do?"

"The Violent Sleep Of Reason" came out in 2016 and resulted in a "Best Metal Performance" Grammy nomination for the song "Clockworks". The disc was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Is Using Coronavirus Downtime To 'Meticulously Work On Music' For Next Album

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Is Using Coronavirus Downtime To 'Meticulously Work On Music' For Next Album

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has been using the downtime during the COVID-19 pandemic to "meticulously work on music" for the long-awaited follow-up to 2016's "The Stage" album.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD kept a low profile during 2019 and will likely not return to the road until next year. A blood blister on singer M. Shadows's vocal cords forced the band to cancel a summer 2018 tour with PROPHETS OF RAGE and THREE DAYS GRACE.

Earlier today, AVENGED SEVENFOLD sent out the following e-mail to the members of its fan club:

"First and foremost, we hope everyone is being as safe as they possibly can out there. As you know, we are living through unprecedented times.

"This moment has taught us a lot about the fragility of being a human being and how quickly the world in which we took for granted could be flipped upside down.

"Many people are in a tough spot as they grapple with their health and livelihoods. We are all dealing with this in our own ways.

"For us, we have taken an inward approach. Spending large amounts of time with our families has been the silver lining. It has also given us the time to meticulously work on music and other projects. The truth though, is that it has been incredibly hard to record the way we want. For instance, the drum room we required for the album was shut down due to protests outside the building for weeks. String sections and outside musicians have still not been able to be recorded due to Covid-19 restrictions. We are not willing to sacrifice the sound we are going for to work around this. We will wait. There are other issues on the horizon but we are documenting it all for a later release when we can tell the whole story.

"At the end of the day it wouldn't matter anyway. We don't feel comfortable working on an album this long and then releasing it with no tour in sight. Part of the music we make needs to be expressed through live interaction.

"While we appreciate the artists who are attempting 'live streams' and other events, it just isn't the way we are choosing to roll this thing out. All of this may change in the future. We are going through this with all of you and feel frustrated as well.

"The good news is we also feel recharged and stronger than ever as a unit. We feel the music we have created is _______. Just because we aren't updating everyone at every step doesn't mean that we aren't working. The news gets tiring. Social media gets tiring.

"Everyone on the food chain fighting for attention and relevance seems trivial. We have chosen to shut our mouths, dig deep and give you something that we feel can add to the collective human conversation. At the end of the day the music will come when it comes. Until then we hope you and your families all stay safe and sane."

Earlier this year, AVENGED SEVENFOLD's platinum-certified DVD/CD "Live In The LBC & Diamonds In The Rough" was released digitally for the very first time via Warner Records. "Diamonds In The Rough", originally issued in 2008 as a compilation CD that included B-sides recorded during the making of the band's self-titled debut, was made available on February 7, while "Live In The LBC", originally released as a live DVD from the band's 2008 show at Long Beach Arena, came out on March 6.

"The Stage" was surprise-released in October 2016. The release of the disc, which was announced the night it went on sale, earned the lowest sales of an AVENGED SEVENFOLD album in 11 years. It sold 76 thousand copies in its first week, 73 thousand of which were physical.

"The Stage", AVENGED's debut for Capitol, sold less than half as many copies in its first week as the group's two previous efforts, 2010's "Nightmare" and 2013's "Hail To The King".

SHADOWS FALL To Reissue 'Of One Blood' On Black Friday

SHADOWS FALL To Reissue 'Of One Blood' On Black Friday

In conjunction with the album's 20th anniversary, M-Theory Audio has announced the first-ever domestic vinyl release of "Of One Blood", the breakthrough album from Grammy-nominated New Wave Of American Heavy Metal pioneers SHADOWS FALL. This new blood-red pressing — to be released on Black Friday 2020 (November 27; exclusive to indie stores via RSD) — also marks the first-ever vinyl release of the remixed and remastered version of the album by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, HATEBREED, SUICIDE SILENCE) and Grammy Award-winning engineer Alan Douches (HIGH ON FIRE, MOTÖRHEAD, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER). In addition, a newly-designed gatefold insert includes rare pictures and new liner notes by vocalist Brian Fair.

Praised by Metal Hammer for "mixing metalcore sensibilities with classic metal motifs," SHADOWS FALL was founded 25 years ago by guitarists Jon Donais (currently the lead guitarist of thrash legends ANTHRAX) and Matt Bachand (now a member of ACT OF DEFIANCE). Soon after the group released their debut album — which featured ALL THAT REMAINS vocalist Phil Labonte — in 1997, Fair was recruited to be the group's new frontman. After a year's worth of live shows together, the band entered Massachusetts's Planet Z Studios with Zeuss to record what would become a seminal album in the burgeoning New Wave Of American Heavy Metal movement.

Influenced in equal parts by classic Bay Area thrash, Scandinavian melodic death and New England hardcore, "Of One Blood" ushered in a new era for metal that emphasized heaviness, hooks and taut musicianship. AllMusic.com applauded the record for its "unique blend of thrash backbone, progressive metal precision and classic metal influences." To support the album, the group toured extensively alongside the likes of HATEBREED, IN FLAMES, CONVERGE, LAMB OF GOD and UNEARTH, in addition to sharing festival stages with PANTERA and SLAYER.

"Of One Blood" set the stage for the band to achieve additional success on their subsequent release, 2002's "The Art of Balance", which saw the group join Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest tour en route to selling more than 250,000 copies. From there, the band cracked the Billboard Top 20 with 2004's "The War Within" — which sold more than 400,000 copies and earned the band its first Grammy nomination — before signing with Atlantic Records for the release of 2007's "Threads Of Life", which saw the band receive a second Grammy nomination. Two more acclaimed albums followed before Donais was invited to join ANTHRAX in 2013, a move which would eventually cause SHADOWS FALL to go on indefinite hiatus.

In August 2015, SHADOWS FALL played a few reunion shows on the U.S. East Coast, one year after completing what was being billed at the time as the band's "final" European tour.

SHADOWS FALL released a statement in August 2014 in which the bandmembers explained that financial difficulties made it virtually impossible for the group to continue as a full-time concern.

SHADOWS FALL's latest album, "Fire From The Sky", released in May 2012 via Razor & Tie. The CD sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart.

This past June, VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen told "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie, that he was "very much inspired" to write new songs. "I can't wait to start working on these songs in the studio when the time is right, because there's a certain energy that really, really takes me back to the beginning," he said. "There's a lot of heavy stuff in some of the new songs that I've got."

Speaking about how the new VOLBEAT music compares to last year's "Rewind, Replay, Rebound" album, Poulsen said: "I know for sure that what I'm writing right now is not really similar. That's gonna be another different VOLBEAT album, because if I was writing an album like that again, I would be old before I want to. So right now I'm doing a lot of spontaneous VOLBEAT songs that have really a lot of… [It's] uptempo, it's heavy, it's very riffy, there's even thrash songs, but again, there's also these really huge rock songs. Right now, I'm in a place where I'm kind of revisiting some of more uptempo and more heavy stuff. So I'm very excited about my whole situation when it comes to writing for VOLBEAT."

Michael went on to discuss his songwriting process in more detail, saying: "Writing is such an emotional thing — things have to come to you very naturally and then you just have to go with the flow. You can sit down and you can ask yourself, 'Where am I going with this?' And if you try to change it, it becomes another monster, and it's not necessarily a monster you wanna work with. So you just have to go with what your heart tells you. And that's what I'm doing also right now with the stuff that I'm writing right now, because I think everybody's kind of getting crazy being locked up in their own home. We have a lot of energy we wanna burn out. Even though I run every morning, I still have a ton of energy that I need to get rid of, and I get all that energy out in the new VOLBEAT music. That's why I'm saying that what I'm writing right now is more uptempo. I's very, very, very spontaneous writing, and there's a lot of energy in it."

This past May, VOLBEAT's U.S. tour with CLUTCH and THE PICTUREBOOKS was officially canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

"Rewind, Replay, Rebound" was released in August 2019 via Republic Records. The disc was produced by longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen and co-produced by guitarist Rob Caggiano and Poulsen. It marked VOLBEAT's the first studio album with Kaspar Boye Larsen on bass.

RAMMSTEIN Confirms Studio Return

RAMMSTEIN Confirms Studio Return

German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN have confirmed their return to the studio.

Earlier today, the official RAMMSTEIN account was updated with a photo of RAMMSTEIN at La Fabrique studios in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in the south of France, along with the following caption: "Sadly no tour this year - but it's great to be back in the studio!"

This past June, RAMMSTEIN drummer Christoph Schneider said that the band was using the coronavirus downtime to work on new music.

RAMMSTEIN's seventh, untitled album came out in May 2019 via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the U.S. The band's first studio disc since 2009's "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da" debuted at No. 1 on the album charts in 14 countries and was the band's tenth No. 1 in Germany. The LP was produced by Olsen Involtini with RAMMSTEIN and was mixed at a Santa Monica, California studio with Rich Costey, an American producer who has previously worked with MUSE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and FRANZ FERDINAND, among others.

In May, RAMMSTEIN postponed its 2020 North American stadium tour due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe. The tour will now begin on August 22, 2021 in Montreal and end on October 1, 2021 in Mexico City. The band also announced the rescheduled dates for its European stadium tour. The new RAMMSTEIN European shows will take place in May, June, July and August 2021, with all tickets purchased for the original concerts valid for the new dates.

The 25th-anniversary edition of RAMMSTEIN's debut album, "Herzeleid", will be made available on December 4 via Vertigo/UMe.

"Herzeleid (XXV Anniversary Edition - Remastered)" will feature the album's original track listing on a single CD, housed in a lavish, cross-shaped digipak with deluxe slipcase, and, for the first time ever, the remastered album with HD sound will be available digitally. In addition, there will be a 2LP version with a slipcase containing two 180-gram heavyweight black vinyl discs with blue splatter effect. The creator of the original artwork, Dirk Rudolph, is also responsible for the "Anniversary Edition" packaging. The booklets also contain the original band portraits shot by Praler. Both the CD and vinyl editions are strictly limited.

CARMINE APPICE: METALLICA Is 'The Band That Really Created What You'd Call Heavy Metal'

CARMINE APPICE: METALLICA Is 'The Band That Really Created What You'd Call Heavy Metal'

Legendary drummer Carmine Appice spoke to b>Pete Pardo of Sea Of Tranquility about how the rise of grunge in the early 1990s forced most hard rock bands off the radio and MTV, with album and tour sales plummeting.

"Those days, nobody would touch us, because we were all dinosaurs," Carmine recalled. "All the NIRVANAs and stuff — grunge was in, [and] nobody wanted to touch us, all the bands. Ted Nugent, DIO… I was playing with Edgar Winter in '91, '92 while doing MOTHER'S ARMY, and I was playing clubs with Edgar Winter — like 500-seat clubs. DIO was playing the same clubs, with my brother [Vinny Appice on drums]. Everybody was [experiencing a drop in popularity]. BLACK SABBATH wasn't happening. Ozzy [Osbourne] really wasn't happening. Nobody was happening except NIRVANA and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and PEARL JAM and all those guys."

When Pardo pointed out to Appice that METALLICA was still selling a lot of records and playing to huge crowds in the early 1990s, Carmine said: "METALLICA was not like all these other bands. METALLICA I consider the band that really created what you'd call heavy metal. All these other bands — MÖTLEY CRÜE, BLUE MURDER… It's hard rock — that's not heavy metal. That METALLICA sound, that sounds like scratching guitars, that, to me, is what heavy metal is, which turned into death metal and speed metal and every other metal. But Ozzy's first album was hard rock. MÖTLEY CRÜE was hard rock. WHITESNAKE — it's hard rock. KING KOBRA was hard rock. It was all hard rock. BLUE MURDER, they detuned a little bit and it was heavy, but it wasn't what I consider heavy metal. Heavy metal was that really scratchy guitar sound."

Appice is the original drummer of VANILLA FUDGE, with whom he still records and performs today. He has also played with CACTUS and BECK, BOGERT & APPICE, in addition to spending stints in the bands of Ozzy Osbourne and Rod Stewart, co-writing the latter's No. 1 hit "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Carmine was named the 28th greatest drummer of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

CONEY HATCH To Release First Live Record With Two New Songs Soon

CONEY HATCH To Release First Live Record With Two New Songs Soon

Prior to Coney Hatch's first-ever pay-per-view event last night (October 3rd), BraveWords founder "Metal" Tim Henderson spoke with bassist/vocalist Andy Curran and singer/guitarist Carl Dixon for an up-close and personal interview on the stage of the newly-renovated El Mocambo, a venue they last played in 1983! The pair revealed that their first live album will be released soon and it will include the band's first new studio material since 2013.

It’s interesting,” Curran begins, "when we did the Coney Hatch 4 record, some of our producers always taught us is that you should track extra stuff. I know bands like Rush, absolutely not - ‘We are going to record seven songs and that’s it,' and that’s all you get. So we put down two extra bed tracks and just filed them away. We just did nothing with them. That was in 2013. So I said to Carl, ‘Dude, let’s finish these things off.’ He had just introduced me to Sean Kelly and we had done a lot of live gigs with him. And he kept saying, ‘c’mon guys, let’s get into the studio.’ He was so enthusiastic. So we went in and finished off these two songs. Actually, up in the corner of the El Mocambo, there is a recording studio - thanks to Michael Wekerle - and we went in and cut our vocal tracks. So, two new songs and Carl was the mastermind of our live recording from Germany.”

“We have a live album from Germany and we’ve been waiting on the right time to unleash upon the world,” Dixon continues. “So we want to include the two new songs. And we will include the two new songs with live album as bonus tracks when we feel it’s the right time, which should be pretty soon.”

"The thing I want to punctuate about the live in Germany record," Curran adds, "is that we’ve never released a live album, and there’s a certain magic about seeing the Hatch live. It’s raw, it’s rough and ready.”

In association with BraveWords’ Streaming For Vengeance and Polymer Records, Coney Hatch's “one night only” pay-per-view event at the legendary El Mocambo was filmed and recorded for a future release on vinyl and CD.

The current Coney Hatch line-up features lead vocalist and guitarist Carl Dixon, vocalist and bassist Andy Curran, guitarist Sean Kelly and drummer Dave Ketchum.

COREY TAYLOR Says SLIPKNOT Is Already 'Thinking About' Follow-Up To 'We Are Not Your Kind'

COREY TAYLOR Says SLIPKNOT Is Already 'Thinking About' Follow-Up To 'We Are Not Your Kind'

Corey Taylor says that SLIPKNOT is in the early stages of planning the follow-up to its latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which came out last year. Speaking to "That Jamieson Show", the singer said: "I was just talking to Clown [percussionist M. Shawn Crahan] the other day about what we should… 'Cause we're obviously thinking about what the next album could be like. And he's in this trippy place, dude, which is rad. I love it when he's in this crazy mindset, because I know I'm gonna hear stuff that I've never heard before. He's so goddamn creative, and that inspires Jim [Root, guitar]. And all the tumblers really start to fall. So it's pretty rad. I can't wait."

"We Are Not Your Kind" sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Furthermore, the album made an impact worldwide with No. 1 debuts in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Japan, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and Finland, as well as Top 5 debuts in Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain and New Zealand.

"We Are Not Your Kind"'s sales in the U.S. were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with SLIPKNOT's summer 2019 tour.

The LP was SLIPKNOT's fifth top 10 effort on the Billboard 200. The Iowa-based masked metallers previously landed in the top 10 with 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter" (No. 1), 2008's "All Hope Is Gone" (No. 1), 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" (No. 2) and 2001's "Iowa" (No. 3).

"We Are Not Your Kind" was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" and helmed ".5: The Gray Chapter".

Earlier this year, Taylor told Metro that he and his bandmates were surprised at the success of "We Are Not Your Kind". "It was fantastic," he said. "It was honestly something that we didn't expect. At this point in our career, it would honestly be ridiculous to expect a No. 1. Twenty years, the music that we make, the constant shift in the genre, people's tastes, the way streams are counted and whatever. It's all crazy. It shouldn't have happened."

Taylor added that he isn't quite sure what it is about this LP that made its reception so different from the others.

"We were honestly blown away," he said. "It's our highest-charting album ever. It was probably our most human, in that it was so well rounded and mature and yet had that same ferocity that we try to approach everything with, so we couldn't be prouder. It's made me go back and listen to the album thinking, 'What the hell did we put on this thing that's allowed people to connect? Which track was it?' Trying to find the keystone."

SLIPKNOT recently canceled all of its summer 2020 tour dates, including the "Knotfest Roadshow", Knotfest UK and Knotfest At Sea, due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

Corey's debut solo album, "CMFT", was released on October 2 via Roadrunner Records. Taylor recorded the effort with his band consisting of Jason Christopher on bass, Dustin Schoenhofer on drums, and Zach Throne and Christian Martucci (STONE SOUR) on guitar. The LP was completed at Kevin Churko's The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER and STONE SOUR, among others.
