Listen To New BABYMETAL Single 'Elevator Girl'

Listen To New BABYMETAL Single 'Elevator Girl'

Japanese pop metal act BABYMETAL has just released a new single, "Elevator Girl". The track, which can be streamed below, will appear on BABYMETAL's next album, due later this year.

BABYMETAL's upcoming disc will be the follow-up to 2016's "Metal Resistance". Right after the release of this second disc, they performed at London's prominent venue SSE Arena, Wembley and became the first Japanese act to have ever headlined there, breaking the all-time merchandising sales record at the venue. BABYMETAL also had successful back-to-back performances at the massive Tokyo Dome thereafter, playing to 110,000 people over two nights.

"Metal Resistance" debuted at No. 15 on the official U.K. chart, the highest rank for a Japanese artist in recorded history. The album was very well-received in all other territories as well, including another record-breaking position for a Japanese artist in the U.S. with a No. 39 position on the Billboard chart.

Last fall, BABYMETAL digitally released a new song called "Starlight". It marked the rebirth of the band in which Su-Metal and Moametal form the core.

BABYMETAL spent all of 2018 touring without Yuimetal, who was formerly one of the members of the group's core trio. She later exited the band, explaining in a statement that she would go on to pursue a solo career as Mizuno Yu.

Over the last few years, BABYMETAL has established itself as the most globally successful J-pop group of the past decade.

The band describes itself as kawaii metal, kawaii meaning "cute" in Japanese.

BABYMETAL will perform at the Forum in Los Angeles, California on Friday, October 11.

DEMONS & WIZARDS Feat. JON SCHAFFER And HANSI KÜRSCH: Lyric Video For Remastered 'Heaven Denies'

DEMONS & WIZARDS Feat. JON SCHAFFER And HANSI KÜRSCH: Lyric Video For Remastered 'Heaven Denies'

DEMONS & WIZARDS, the side project of ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer and BLIND GUARDIAN singer Hansi Kürsch, recently released remastered versions of its first two albums on all digital platforms.

Remastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ICED EARTH, QUEENSRŸCHE, SANCTUARY), "Demons & Wizards" (2000) and "Touched By The Crimson King" (2005) will also be released as expanded deluxe editions on June 7. The expanded editions will feature liner notes by Kürsch and Schaffer as well as bonus material and will be released as a limited-edition digipak, deluxe 2LP with etching and LP booklet as well as digital deluxe editions.

The official lyric video for the song "Heaven Denies", taken from the remastered version of "Demons & Wizards", can be seen below. The clip was created by Scott Rudd.

DEMONS & WIZARDS is currently recording its as-yet-untitled third studio LP, which is scheduled to be released in early 2020.

Schaffer spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to "Touched By The Crimson King" during a December 2018 appearance on the ICED EARTH-centric podcast "Podcast In Stone". He said: "I have written some of the best instrumental pieces in my entire career in the last few weeks, and I'm very, very excited to hear what Hansi does on top of these things. So, the feeling is really good. He's very into what I sent him.

"We had three songs going that we started working on a few years ago, but everything got busy for me with ICED EARTH and him with BLIND GUARDIAN," Jon continued. "But I'm stoked with the stuff that I've written — I mean, very, very happy. We're gonna be taking people on a journey, man — for sure."

"Touched By The Crimson King" was partially based on the "The Dark Tower" series of books (written by Stephen King) in which the Crimson King is the main antagonist. The album was released in Japan in September 2005 with the following bonus tracks: "Lunar Lament", "Wicked Witch" (slow version) and "Spatial Architects". The CD also included the "Terror Train" video. The disc featured an appearance by HALFORD and SEBASTIAN BACH drummer Bobby Jarzombek.

Schaffer said in a 2009 interview that he felt "Touched By The Crimson King" was a bit rushed and he was determined to do things differently next time around. "We had this window of opportunity where we had to get it done and we kind of let time dictate the schedule instead of our feelings, and that was probably a mistake," he explained. "I mean, I'm proud of that record and it sold killer and it's a good album, but I think Hansi and I are capable of a lot more, especially when we get back to the root reasons of why we did this thing together."

DEMONS & WIZARDS will embark on the "A Magical Encounter With Demons & Wizards" North American headline tour in the summer. The band will hit the road starting August 17 in Los Angeles and will wrap up the trek with a sold-out show on September 7 in Atlanta. The band will be joined by special guests LIZZY BORDEN and TÝR and will be playing major markets like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and more.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Begins Recording Eighth Album

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Begins Recording Eighth Album

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has entered the studio to begin recording its eighth album, due later in the year. The new disc is once again being helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.

Earlier today, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH tweeted a short video from the latest studio sessions, along with the following caption: "Day ONE in the studio ... What kind of record should we make ... Acoustic Death Metal - Polka Djent Fusion - Doom Funk Dubstep ... or..... ???"

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has yet to announce a permanent replacement for drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December. After sitting out the fall leg of the group's recent co-headlining tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN, Spencer underwent a second back surgery and will need a significant amount of time to recover.

For its fall tour, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH was joined behind the kit by Charlie "The Engine" Engen. It is not clear if he will remain with the group or if they will seek a new and permanent replacement for Spencer.

Spencer co-founded FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in 2005 with guitarist Zoltan Bathory.

Last month, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH teamed up with Brian May of QUEEN and two of the biggest names in country and blues rock, Brantley Gilbert and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, to record a special version of "Blue On Black", a blues rock song originally recorded by the KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD BAND in 1998.

METALLICA's ROBERT TRUJILLO, KIRK HAMMETT Cover PERET's 'El Muerto Vivo' In Barcelona (Video)

METALLICA's ROBERT TRUJILLO, KIRK HAMMETT Cover PERET's 'El Muerto Vivo' In Barcelona (Video)

Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett played a cover version of the song "El Muerto Vivo" from the Spanish singer Peret during METALLICA's May 5 concert at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Spain. Professionally filmed video footage of their performance can be seen below.

"El Muerto Vivo" was part of the fun and unusual feature METALLICA added to its shows on the band's recent tours: at each stop, Hammett and Trujillo have been covering songs from some of their musical heroes — often choosing songs that are far removed from the band's traditional metal sound. The "doodles," as the band refers to them in their setlists, have been showing up right before Trujillo's solo on "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth". The songs are pared-down interpretations — just bass and guitar and sometimes Trujillo singing in front of music stands.

METALLICA kicked off the spring/summer 2019 European leg of its "Worldwired" tour on May 1 at the Estádio Do Restelo in Lisbon, Portugal. The band's 18-song setlist included three tracks that hadn't been performed for a number of years: "Disposable Heroes", which was last played electrically in 2015; "The God That Failed", which was aired in 2012; and "Frantic", which hadn't been heard since 2011.

"WorldWired" has played more than 130 shows across the world since its 2016 kick-off.

METALLICA is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 291,000 copies in its first week of release.

BLACK EARTH Feat. Original ARCH ENEMY Members: 'Burn On The Flame' Music Video

BLACK EARTH Feat. Original ARCH ENEMY Members: 'Burn On The Flame' Music Video

BLACK EARTH — the project featuring former and current members of ARCH ENEMY performing material from the latter band's first three albums live on stage — recently released "Path Of The Immortal", a collection of remastered tracks from those early LPs. The disc, which was made available exclusively in Japan on March 20, includes two brand new songs, "Burn On The Flame" and "Life Infernal", which were recorded at the end of 2018 at Sweden's Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström. You can now watch the official Kazuaki Kimura-directed music video for "Burn On The Flame" below.

"Path Of The Immortal" track listing:

01. Burn On The Flame (new song)

02. The Immortal

03. Dead Inside

04. Bury Me An Angel

05. Stigmata

06. Sinister Mephisto

07. Demoniality

08. Transmigration Macabre

09. Angelclaw

10. Bridge Of Destiny

11. Life Infernal (new song)

12. Beast Of Man

13. Dark Insanity

14. Diva Satanica

15. Pilgrim

16. Black Earth

17. Silverwing

18. Time Capsule

19. Fields Of Desolation '99

Speaking to Japan's "Masa Ito's Rock TV" in February, ARCH ENEMY guitarist and main songwriter Michael Amott explained how the new music came about. "Together with Trooper Entertainment, we've put together a compilation of our favorite tracks from the first, second and third album that featured these guys — with Johan [Liiva on vocals] and Chris [Amott on guitar] and everything," he said. "And we've put together a compilation album of that '90s material. It's been remastered here in Japan. I actually attended the mastering session last week, and it sounds incredible. It really brought the old tracks… it gave them a new life. And then we actually recorded two new songs in Sweden. So we've been quite busy with that."

He continued: "It's quite complicated getting everybody together to do that. But we wrote these two new songs. I wrote one with Chris, and then I wrote one myself. They're called 'Burn On The Flame' and 'Life Infernal' — two brand new tracks that are kind of in the style of what we used to do, I think. And they turned out really amazing too. We actually went back to Fredrik Nordström's studio, Fredman, where we made the first three records. So we worked with the original producer. And he mixed it, and it sounds really powerful — very cool."

According to Michael, the BLACK EARTH recording sessions turned out to be a "very, very strange" experience, "because we just picked it up where we left off. After about an hour or so, we were doing the same kind of jokes and the same kind of chemistry," he explained. "And the sounds as well. I was thinking maybe it was gonna sound very different. Also because of us — we all progress and change over the years, and develop. And also Fredrik, of course. He had a new studio now, with some different equipment. But actually, he just managed to get that old-school sound. And it was a lot of fun. Kind of a little bit nostalgia."

ARCH ENEMY recorded three albums with Liiva: "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999).

Liiva was replaced by German singer Angela Gossow as ARCH ENEMY's lead vocalist in 2000. Gossow exited the band in 2013 and was succeeded by former THE AGONIST frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz, while remaining as the group's manager.

Christopher Amott first left ARCH ENEMY in 2005, only to return to the group two years later. His second, and apparently final, departure came in March 2012.

BLACK EARTH completed its first Japanese tour in May 2016 and will return this coming May to celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Burning Bridges".

"When we did the tour in 2016, the reaction was incredible — we had so many sold-out shows, and [we got] very, very strong feedback and a lot of love from the Japanese audience," Michael told "Masa Ito's Rock TV". "So that was really an incredible time for us and a wonderful experience — one of the highlights of my career, I think. So we decided to come back and do it again three years later. And now we're doing it in more cities. So we're looking forward to visiting these places and bringing the music to the fans that normally maybe could not travel to Tokyo or to Osaka to see a show."

BLACK EARTH is:

Michael Amott - guitar

Christopher Amott - guitar

Johan Liiva - vocals

Daniel Erlandsson - drums

Sharlee D'Angelo - bass

VIXEN Is Writing Music For 'Badass' New Album

VIXEN Is Writing Music For 'Badass' New Album

VIXEN is working on material for a new full-length album, tentatively due next year.

The bandmembers spoke about their recording plans last weekend at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland.

"We have music in the works," drummer Roxy Petrucci told Max 1On1 - Conversations With Musicians (see video below). "We're all coming up with ideas and sending them around. Yeah, we plan to do a record — a badass record."

Added singer Lorraine Lewis: "We all collab. Britt [guitarist Brittany Denaro] and I live in L.A., so we've started writing sessions together. And then we've all been writing together. They had some stuff going [before I joined], so we're just putting the finishing touches on some things and hoping to release a record in 2020."

This past January, VIXEN recruited Lewis as its new lead singer following the departure of Janet Gardner.

Lewis, who also fronts FEMME FATALE, had already performed with VIXEN, having played with the group in March 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma while Gardner was recovering from surgery.

Prior to Lewis's addition to VIXEN, Petrucci, Denaro and Share Ross (bass) vowed to "expand upon the VIXEN legacy while remaining true to our musical roots."

Gardner, who released her debut self-titled solo album in 2017, broke the news of her exit from the group on January 16.

Gardner, Petrucci and Ross are considered to be part of VIXEN's classic lineup, along with founding guitarist Jan Kuehnemund, who died of cancer in October 2013.

Gardner contributed lead vocals to VIXEN's most commercially successful studio albums — "Vixen" (1988), "Rev It Up" (1990) and "Tangerine" (1998) — as well as the group's latest release, last year's live album "Live Fire".

SEVEN KINGDOMS Prepare To Enter Studio; "We Have Made Some Serious Changes In How We Want To Release Music"

SEVEN KINGDOMS Prepare To Enter Studio; "We Have Made Some Serious Changes In How We Want To Release Music"

"We wanted to issue an update on what we have planned!," begins a new message from Florida-based power metal band, Seven Kingdoms. "We start officially tracking the new release on June 2nd at the New Morrisound Studios in Tampa. The recording will happen during the entire month of June and then It will be sent off to Mastering with Jacob Hansen in July, with a TBD release date sometime in the fall! We will be releasing the Cover, Title and Track-listing shortly after we are done with the recording.

"We have made some serious changes in how we want to release music. Let’s face a fact: The CD is a dying format. Physical album sales for almost every single band on earth have gone down consistently over the years, as we enjoy instant access to content online via iTunes, Spotify, Youtube and many other platforms. Because of this we have decided to embrace the future and change things up. We have 3 releases planned over the next 2-3 years. The first two are what people would call ‘EPs’, which will consist of 4-5 songs each, and then there will be a full length album on the third release. 3 songs from each EP will make the album cut (which fans will choose). Then when the album comes out, there will be 5+ new songs added to the fan picked songs of the previous two EPs.

"Why do this? Well, having less songs in a pressing allows us to spend our resources in extra content to be released on these online platforms: Most songs will now get a music / lyric video, we will have more focus on individual songs, and we can release content and give the fans what they want - “MORE” sooner, faster and better than ever before! Streaming, video views and touring is the future of this industry and we need to do what it takes to do all of those more. It may not be quite the way it is now, but 3-5 years from now, that is the way it will be. It’s time to look to the future.

"After much consideration, the only way to pull this off is to return to our original model of crowdfunding. We couldn’t strike a deal with any label that we felt would do this the way we know we could with our own fans. These next 3 releases will all be 100% independently released ‘In House’ by Seven Kingdoms. If you remember last time, we did not offer any sort of digital download with the In The Walls / Decennium Kickstarters. This time, we will handle all of the digital aspect of this release along with physical, so it will all be available directly from the band. Each EP will be pressed on vinyl with a simple CD in a jacket (hand signed and numbered, of course!). We will have LOTS of videos, releases up on Spotify, iTunes, everything a record label would do, but It’s just 100% us this time with absolutely no middle man. There will be no licensing of physical product to anyone for the foreseeable future.

"If you want the physical record, buy it from the band. If you want the digital downloads, that also will be available directly from the band. If you want to stream any of our videos and music, that will also be available directly from the band. The more support we get, the faster the content goes out, the faster the tours get booked, the bigger the band becomes. This is the way it should be. We will announce the date for the first Kickstarter and its details in the next few months, and of course, after that is done, everything will be moved over and available on our Online Shop.

"We are very excited to share this new music and video with you. We have the biggest plans we have ever put on paper, ready to turn into reality. We have tours all over the world in the works. Please get ready to join us again, and let’s show the world what can be done!"

Video Premiere: BRING ME THE HORIZON's 'Mother Tongue'

Video Premiere: BRING ME THE HORIZON's 'Mother Tongue'

British rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON have released the official music video for their song "Mother Tongue". The track is taken from the band's latest album, "Amo", which was released in January via Columbia Records. The band spent last summer writing and recording in Los Angeles, with singer Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish handling production.

Oli told Zane Lowe of Apple Music's Beats 1 about "Mother Tongue": "The whole album's kind of explores loving and different aspects of that. Toxic relationships and the end of relationships, really. It's also about the positive side of love and obviously when you first fall in love, it's got to be the greatest feeling. It's probably the most gushing, out-there, just straight-up love song we've ever written. This was one of the easier ones to write, because it was positive. It's about when I first met my new wife. She's from Brazil, and she didn't speak so much English. She talked a lot better than my Portuguese, but from the very start, we had a really, really strong connection, and it was just a crazy time. And this song's just talking about those experiences, which they just stick in my head. So, that was really one of the easier ones to write about."

Regarding the musical direction of "Amo", Oli said: "We didn't really know what we wanted, but we just knew we wanted to be different. We wanted to still be BRING ME THE HORIZON, but make people feel the things they felt with us in different ways and try to do it sonically different. And it took a while to find that sound and stuff, 'cause I think, for me, I love the fact that I can sing now and I can write these lyrics that have important messages and they can almost stick in people's heads, so that they're easier to get across. So, for us, we still wanted those huge choruses, but I feel like we had so much experimentation in us that we've been dying to do for maybe the last five years or so."

BRING ME THE HORIZON kicked off a short run of U.S. dates this past weekend at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Jacksonville, Florida.

GENERATION AXE: Listen To 'Sideways' Song Feat. ZAKK WYLDE, NUNO BETTENCOURT

GENERATION AXE: Listen To 'Sideways' Song Feat. ZAKK WYLDE, NUNO BETTENCOURT

In the spring of 2016, guitar heroes Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), Nuno Bettencourt (EXTREME) and Tosin Abasi (ANIMALS AS LEADERS) teamed up for a North American tour called "Generation Axe", in which the five musicians shared a backing band and performed together in addition to playing individual sets.

A year after their successful inaugural tour, the five guitarists reconvened for an 11-city tour of Asia that included a stop in Beijing, China. Select performances from that April 2017 concert appear on the new live recording, "Generation Axe - The Guitars That Destroyed The World: Live In China". The album will be released on June 28 via earMUSIC as a CD digipak, limited colored 2LP+download and digital.

The track listing is as follows:

01. Generation Axe - Foreplay (BOSTON cover)

02. Tosin Abasi - Tempting Time (ANIMALS AS LEADERS cover)

03. Tosin Abasi/Nuno Bettencourt - Physical Education (ANIMALS AS LEADERS cover)

04. Nuno Bettencourt - A Side Of Mash (medley of EXTREME solos)

05. Nuno Bettencourt/Zakk Wylde - Sideways (CITIZEN COPE cover)

06. Zakk Wylde - Whipping Post (THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND cover)

07. Steve Vai - Bad Horsie

08. Yngwie Malmsteen - Valhalla / Baroque n Roll / Overture / From a Thousand Cuts / Arpeggios from Hell / Far Beyond the Sun

09. Yngwie Malmsteen/Steve Vai - Black Star

10. Vai/Wylde/Bettencourt/Abasi - Frankenstein (Edgar Winter cover)

11. Generation Axe - Highway Star (DEEP PURPLE cover)

Check out "Sideways" below.

According to a press release, the "Generation Axe" experience goes way beyond simply gathering five guitar greats on one stage. Much of the time when multiple rock guitarists join in jamming, the results are conventional and often even a mess. But the arrangements of some of the classic tracks performed by these five players makes for a magnificent cacophony of organized chaos unlike anything ever presented before.

Vai says the idea behind "Generation Axe" was "to create a seamless show with one backing band and five completely accomplished and astonishing guitarists that take to the stage in various configurations, performing some of their solo music and merging together as cohesive co-creators of lushly orchestrated guitar extravaganzas."

Vai describes "Generation Axe" as "pure controlled chaos." "My favorite thing about 'Generation Axe' is the tour bus," he says. "Between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m., when we're all hanging out in the lounge just rapping. I wake up in the morning [and] my jaw hurts from laughing so much. These guys, they're out of their minds."

BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD: It 'Feels Good' To Be 71

BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD: It 'Feels Good' To Be 71

When BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward turned 71 on Sunday (May 5), a number of fans took to social media to wish him a happy birthday.

To thank his fans for their thoughtfulness, Ward posted a video message on his social media accounts.

He said: "Hi guys. I'd like to thank everyone who wished me a very happy birthday. I definitely appreciate it. I'm 71 years now. So… feels good. Feels good. Thank you very much."

The short clip can be seen below.

Ward was on board for the SABBATH reunion when it was first announced more than seven years ago, but backed out soon after. He later claimed that he sat out the recording and touring sessions because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn't physically up to the task.

All four original members of SABBATH were present when the band announced its reunion in late 2011. But Ward split from the group in 2012, citing an "unsignable" contract, and singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler carried on with their Rick Rubin–produced "13" LP and extensive international touring without him. The final BLACK SABBATH tour, which concluded in February 2017 in Birmingham, saw the founding member replaced by session drummer Tommy Clufetos.

It was rumored that SABBATH wanted to bring a second drummer on the road to share duties with Ward, something that Iommi confirmed in 2017 during a question-and-answer session about SABBATH's "Ten Year War" box set.

Back in June 2017, Ward told Rolling Stone magazine that he had "gone through a lot of tears" over his split with SABBATH. "I've grieved the loss of three of my best friends," he said. "I've grieved the loss of their company, their words, their laughter, their joy, and above all, their music... I've grieved the loss of the fans, and I've grieved the pain of what all this has created."

But he claimed at the time to have come out the other side. "I can't afford to have resentment," he explained. "I can't afford to be angry. I can't afford these things spiritually or physically. So I knew I had to be rid of them."

LACUNA COIL Singer On Upcoming Album: 'Get F**king Ready To Listen To A Great Record'

LACUNA COIL Singer On Upcoming Album: 'Get F**king Ready To Listen To A Great Record'

LACUNA COIL frontwoman Cristina Scabbia says that the band's next album is at the "advanced-demos/checking-lyrics stage."

The Italian heavy rockers' follow-up to 2016's "Delirium" is tentatively due before the end of the year via Century Media.

In a couple of separate Instagram posts, the singer said that she is "VERY delighted" about LACUNA COIL's new material and revealed that the band is "getting close" to entering the studio to record the disc. She added: "Get fucking ready to listen to a great record."

This past March, Scabbia said that LACUNA COIL's next album would be "heavy and dark." It wasn't the first time she had suggested that LACUNA COIL's next disc could see the band pursuing a more aggressive musical direction, just as was the case with "Delirium". Two years ago, Cristina told Metal Wani: "I believe that it could definitely be even way heavier, because that's what we like to perform on stage. Of course, we like the ballads and the mellow songs, but we like better to perform songs that are heavier. And we love that music."

2018 marked the 20th anniversary of LACUNA COIL's debut. To celebrate the occasion, they played an exceptional show oinn January 2018 in London at the O2 Forum Kentish Town. The unique, one-time event was filmed and recorded for "The 119 Show - Live In London", which was released last November.

CHAOS MAGIC Featuring CATERINA NIX Debut Lyric Video For "Furyborn" Featuring EVERGREY Frontman TOM ENGLUND

CHAOS MAGIC Featuring CATERINA NIX Debut Lyric Video For "Furyborn" Featuring EVERGREY Frontman TOM ENGLUND

Frontiers Music Srl will release the new album from Chaos Magic, entitled Furyborn, on June 14.

Chaos Magic is centered around Chilean vocalist Caterina Nix who, for this sophomore release from the band, worked in close collaboration with fellow Chilean producer, singer, and musician Nasson. Together, they have created an absolute gem of a metal album.

Today they release a lyric video for the title track, "Furyborn", featuring Tom Englund of Evergrey on guest vocals. Watch below. Pre-order the album and stream the singles here.

"I’ve been writing songs for many years, however, on the previous Chaos Magic album I had no intention of interfering with Timo's creative process,” tells Caterina, referencing ex-Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki's involvement on the first Chaos Magic album. "But in the case of FuryBorn, I had the freedom to design a musical vision of my own. I wanted the album to have both a modern sound and nostalgic feel to it. The process of writing for me is very organic, I just start singing a melody and build the songs from there. I seek the chords, write the lyrics, and work them through. I have several streams of influence, so I definitely wanted a rich mixture of intensities, rhythms, and styles. Of course, I can’t leave out the fact that I worked with two brilliant musicians to give shape to the album, Franco Lama and Nasson, who also produced the album and was a key element in the development of the sound."

And what exactly is the "sound" on the new Chaos Magic album? "I wanted to mix different styles and also seek a sound of my own and I think that is well achieved in FuryBorn. It’s a mixture of heavy, melodic, symphonic, and alternative metal, with traces of modern progressive and electronic elements, unique arrangements and a bit of a nostalgic feel associated to certain sounds from the '90s and early '00s. It has moments of rage, power, and sick darkness, but also vulnerable, sensual, and sometimes playful points. FuryBorn is harder to label compared to the previous Chaos Magic album since on the new album the guitars are a more prominent ingredient that gives tremendous richness to the sound. In summary, FuryBorn is a rollercoaster ride that flows through assorted intense styles with uncommon arrangements but with very catchy melodies,” concludes Caterina and rest assured she’s really not exaggerating in the descriptions.

Nix also pulled in some talented singers for a few duets on the album: Tom Englund (Evergrey) on the title track, Ailyn (ex-Sirenia) on “Bravely Beautiful”, and Ronnie Romero (Rainbow and CoreLeoni singer, ex-Lords of Black) on "Path Of The Brave". Producer Nasson also duets with Caterina on “Falling Again”, while Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Rock) appears on keyboards on “Beware of Silent Waters”.

"These are incredible voices and all the guest singers gave the album the textures I desired to each of the songs they participated in,” says Caterina.

Also of note, the album was mixed to perfection by none other than Danish studio master Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, The Dark Element).

Caterina Nix is a superb young vocalist from Chile, who was found by chance by former Stratovarius composer and guitarist Timo Tolkki during one of his tours of South America. Timo was supremely impressed and confident in Caterina’s singing abilities and he wrote and produced the first Chaos Magic album, in addition to having her perform on the second Avalon rock opera album Angels Of The Apocalypse.

While these two things brought Caterina to the forefront more on the International stage, she had already started her career in the band Aghonya, who released their first and only album Oxygen in 2008, in which she wrote all the lyrics and vocal lines. Released independently, the band and Caterina received rave reviews, which gave them the opportunity to open shows in Chile for bands like After Forever, Edguy, and Within Temptation.

QUEEN Guitarist BRIAN MAY Backs Live Aid-Style Concert To Tackle Climate Change

QUEEN Guitarist BRIAN MAY Backs Live Aid-Style Concert To Tackle Climate Change

According to The Daily Mirror, Queen guitarist Brian May believes young people may want to follow-up 2007’s Live Earth benefit gigs - and Queen would be available.

With the planet facing a climate emergency, could it be time for a Live Aid-style concert, to raise funds and awareness?

Says Brian May: “It probably would take the younger generation to take that bull by the horns. We’d help in any way we can but I think that’s what it would require.”

He warns the issue is “so enormous” that even a gig the size of Live Aid - estimated to have raised £150 million since the first 1985 gig - might not be a big enough.

SKID ROW Signs With Australia's GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS; New Album To Be Released Later This Year

Veteran hard rock group SKID ROW has inked a worldwide deal with Australia's Golden Robot Records. The the final chapter of the band's "United World Rebellion" trilogy will be released later this year. The disc was recorded at a Nashville, Tennessee studio with producer Michael Wagener, who also helmed the group's 1989 self-titled debut and 1991's "Slave To The Grind".

The album will mark SKID ROW's first release with South African-born, British-based vocalist ZP Theart (DRAGONFORCE, TANK, I AM I), who joined the band in 2016 following the departure of Tony Harnell (TNT, STARBREAKER).

"We are beyond excited to announce that we have signed with Golden Robot Records," says SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan. "The label is the perfect balance between old-school way of thinking with digital age sensibilities. We can think of no better company to release our third chapter of 'United World Rebellion' and our first record with ZP."

Adds Mark Alexander-Erber, Golden Robot Entertainment Group founder and president: "We are honored to welcome SKID ROW to the Golden Robot Records family they have always remained true to their fans with authenticity and passion. We are more than excited to be part of their next chapter and journey with a brand new album."

SKID ROW's new album will feature collaborations with several outside songwriters, including Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR) and Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of HALESTORM, a group that covered the title track of "Slave To The Grind" on its "ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP" in 2011. SKID ROW also worked with songwriter-for-hire Marti Frederiksen, who has previously collaborated with AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow.

Unlike 2014's "Rise Of The Damnation Army - United World Rebellion: Chapter Two" and 2013's "United World Rebellion: Chapter One", SKID ROW's forthcoming release will be a full-length record.

In an interview with Metal Wani last fall, bassist Rachel Bolan voiced excitement about the direction of the group's new material. "When we play it for people," he said, "they're like, 'Oh my God! This could be the second half of 'Slave To The Grind' or 'This could have been right before 'Youth Gone Wild' on the first record.' It's a really good feeling. And Michael Wagener, he pulls no punches when it comes to telling his opinions of what he thinks of the songs, which is great — that's what you need a producer to do. And he [told] us, 'This is some of the best shit you guys have written, for real.' So that makes me feel really good, because I really respect his opinion."

SKID ROW will perform at a number of high-profile European festivals in 2019, including Germany's Bang Your Head!!!, the U.K.'s Download, Sweden Rock Festival and Norway Rock '19.

This past January, Rhino released a 30th-anniversary remastered digital reissue of SKID ROW's quintuple-platinum 1989 debut album, which featured the hits "Youth Gone Wild", "18 & Life" and "I Remember You". The reissue also includes "Forever", a b-side recorded during the sessions for the album that previously appeared on the 1998 greatest-hits compilation "40 Seasons: The Best Of Skid Row", and a 10-track live performance recorded on April 26, 1989 at the Marquee in Westminster, California.

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Slips On His Wah-Wah Pedal, Falls On Stage In Milan (Video)

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Slips On His Wah-Wah Pedal, Falls On Stage In Milan (Video)

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett slipped and fell during the band's concert earlier tonight (Wednesday, May 8) in Milan, Italy.

The incident happened during the guitar-solo section in the song "Moth Into Flame". Kirk was soloing away with his right foot on the guitar effects pedal board when he slipped and fell backwards, hitting the ground with his feet high above his head. After taking a second to laugh about the stage mishap, Hammett picked himself up and continued playing the track.

Immediately following the show, Hammett took to his Instagram to post video of his fall from two different angles and included the following caption: "Ummm- I slipped on my wet wah pedal. It rained so much I felt like I was playing guitar in the shower - #slipperywhenwet #wahwahwah #metallicafamily #Metinmilan @metallica"

Milan was the fourth gig of the spring/summer 2019 European leg of METALLICA's "Worldwired" tour, which kicked off on May 1 at the Estádio Do Restelo in Lisbon, Portugal.

"WorldWired" has played more than 130 shows across the world since its original 2016 kick-off.

Last November, drummer Lars Ulrich told The Mercury News that the trek could last through early 2020.

The San Francisco Bay Area metal giants have been touring in support of their latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which came out in November 2016.

ROB HALFORD On Next JUDAS PRIEST Album: 'I Don't Know When, But It's Going To Happen'

ROB HALFORD On Next JUDAS PRIEST Album: 'I Don't Know When, But It's Going To Happen'

JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford has confirmed to Consequence Of Sound that the band is planning to work on the follow-up to last year's "Firepower" album.

"This is what this band's done forever," he said. "Whenever we hit the road, it's generally in the support of our latest release. We'll wrap up this tour at some point, take a break, then Glenn [Tipton, guitar] will give a call out to come hang out. He's started noodling with some new songs and ideas. Glenn's just going through the massive archives of riffs and ideas that we have right now, as well as coming up with his own brand-new PRIEST riffs. It's going to happen. I don't know when, but it's going to happen."

Tipton announced his retirement from touring in February 2018 after revealing his unfortunate diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. He passed on the torch to the producer of the "Firepower" album, Andy Sneap.

Tipton was diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disorder five years ago, after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier. The guitarist, who is now 71 and has performed on every PRIEST record since the band's 1974 debut set, "Rocka Rolla", is not quitting the band, but simply cannot handle the rigorous challenges of performing live.

Glenn has appeared onstage with PRIEST many times following his retirement, always performing the same fan-favorite tracks "Metal Gods", "Breaking The Law" and "Livin' After Midnight".

PRIEST's current touring lineup consists of Halford, guitarists Sneap and Richie Faulkner, drummer Scott Travis and founding member and bassist Ian Hill.

JUDAS PRIEST's U.S. tour with fellow classic heavy rockers URIAH HEEP kicked off on May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and will wrap on June 29 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

DEATH ANGEL Release Guitar Playthrough Video For "The Pack"

DEATH ANGEL Release Guitar Playthrough Video For "The Pack"

Death Angel will release their long-awaited ninth full-length album, Humanicide, on May 31st via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, guitarists Rob Cavestany and Ted Aguilar debut a playthrough video for their latest single, “The Pack”.

“When I wrote 'The Pack' I was channeling the vibe we exchange with our fans when we’re having a killer show and the crowd is rocking so hard to the music that in that moment we are united as one intense exploding vortex of positive energy! This song is an uplifting dose of metal with a message of hope and unity, an anthem of strength in loyalty. It’s a balancing factor on the Humanicide album which is also filled with so much darkness. It’s dedicated to our fans, all metal and music fans in fact. I absolutely cannot wait to play this song live, especially this summer at open air festivals in Europe. Feels like a song that calls for crowd participation!

"It’s a fun song to play because of it’s heavy rhythmic percussive attack. I get to play drums on my guitar! Challenging too, as the background vocals happen in spots where it goes against the grain of what the guitars are doing... also the guitar solo section is quite melodic and takes you into a different dimension before returning to the pulsing heartbeat fist pumping stomp.

"This song is raw, no nonsense good time fun. It’s refreshing amongst the dark complexity on the other side of the Death Angel sound.” - Rob Cavestany

Humanicide is available for pre-order here. Pre-order the album digitally to receive the tracks “Humanicide” and "The Pack" instantly (Amazon and iTunes only).

With their forthcoming album Humanicide, Death Angel has maintained their throne in the universe of Thrash while still managing to remain progressive in their style. They apply a wide variety of different elements to their music, always pushing to add newness to their sound. This time around they’ve included everything from acoustic bits, to guest musicians, to even (for the first time) the notes of a piano. All 10 songs flow seamlessly yet each leaves its own distinct impression. The first single and title track “Humanicide” triumphantly represents the entirety of the album, immediately energizing the listener.

Osegueda remarks: “I wanted to write something that metal fans could really grasp onto. Something dark and intense, that still makes sense. Right now I think it’s so apparent that the earth is in a sickened state.”

“When I wrote the music for our song 'Humanicide', I was shooting for an album opener that would have all the elements of an epic thrash opus. This meant a classic metal style intro leading into a ferocious “Bay Area Thrash Riff-o-Rama” complete with a crazy middle build up section to ramp up the circle pit until it’s all whipped up into a frenzy by the time the frenetic guitar solo hits, then concluding with a maniacal musical section leading into the outro. All it needed was the lyrics and vocal delivery to match the intensity and Mark went above and beyond the call of duty! Some of his best work in my opinion. One of my favorite DA songs for sure, it feels like the follow up to our song 'Thrown To The Wolves'. Can’t wait to play it live!” - Rob Cavestany

For the foutth album cycle in a row, Death Angel returned to their producer and friend Jason Suecof of Audiohammer studios for the recording and mixing, along with the mastering of the legendary Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound who added the final touches and brought it all to life, with artist Brent Elliott White providing the ominous cover artwork.

“I'm ecstatic to present Death Angel’s 9th studio album, Humanicide. This collection of songs represents the band in its current state - united, vital, intense and (still) hungry like the wolf! I wanted this record to be quite diverse stylistically while obviously keeping with the parameters of metal. DA has been known to push the envelope and we absolutely did this time. So many emotions expressed through our music, very much looking forward to adding these songs into our live set list. As I savor this rare feeling of satisfaction, we proudly unleash this beast upon thee!” - Rob Cavestany

Humanicide tracklisting:

"Humanicide"
"Divine Defector"
"Aggressor"
"I Came For Blood"
"Immortal Behated"
"Alive And Screaming"
"The Pack"
"Ghost Of Me"

RAVENSCRY Begin Recording New Album

RAVENSCRY Begin Recording New Album

Italian melodic-metallers Ravenscry are now in studio to record their fourth full-length album.

After the two European tours (with Angra, Operation: Mindcrime and Kobra And The Lotus) in 2018 promoting their third album The Invisible, the band is working again with the Swedish producer Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Hardcore Superstar) for the recording of the yet-untitled fourth chapter of their career.

The recordings are taking place between Timetrack Studios with the technical support of Dario Ravelli of Suonovivo Recording Services (Folkstone, Hyperion) and Ravenstudio, owned by the band itself.

The band stated: “This will be our most direct and aggressive work in absolute. With the arrival of Federico Schiavoni in the band we pushed further into the research of a more sharp and incisive sound, we love it and we can’t wait to make you listen to it!”

There is no release date at the moment, since the singer Giulia Stefani, as the hardcore fans already know, recently revealed to be expecting.

ELECTRIC RADIO KINGS Debut "Jack Black Flower" Video

ELECTRIC RADIO KINGS Debut "Jack Black Flower" Video

"Jack Black Flower" is a song about the rise and fall and dreams of an aspiring entertainer with thoughts of capturing Hollywood and living the high life only to find there are many lows, a rather low point to a struggling career for an artist or actor. This song is on the new album Purrr by Electric Radio Kings.

Electric Radio Kings are an exciting new rock band that hails from Las Vegas, Nevada but its branches stretch out farther than that. The band was formed in 2017, with deep roots in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Toronto. This amazing new quintet is part of the quickly rising resurgence of new rock n’ roll that is taking back popular and mainstream music.

The band features Paul Christiana on vocals, whose style is often compared to Scott Weiland and Jim Morrison. On lead guitar is national recording and songwriting artist Stacey David Blades, also on lead and rhythm guitar is Keith Horne, and rounding out the rhythm section is former A&M recording artist Johnny Rude on drums, and former Sex Slaves bassist Del Cheetah.

Check out the cover art and tracklisting to Purrr, the brand new album from Electric Radio Kings, produced by long time Metallica engineer Mike Gillies.

DEATHWHITE Enter Studio To Record Sophomore Album Grave Image

DEATHWHITE Enter Studio To Record Sophomore Album Grave Image

Enigmatic dark metal outfit Deathwhite have entered the studio to record their sophomore full-length, Grave Image. The music is being recorded at Cerebral Audio Productions with producer/engineer Shane Mayer, who also recorded the band's debut, For A Black Tomorrow, while the vocals are being tracked at Erik Rutan's Mana Studios with Art Paiz serving as engineer. When all is said and done, Grave Image will be mastered by Dan Swano,

Regarding the upcoming album, the band comments:

“We have spent the better part of the last six months fine-tuning and agonizing – for lack of a better term — over the ten new compositions that will comprise Grave Image. We have been operating with the benefit of hindsight and perhaps, best of all, more familiarity with one other, which has led to songs that are heavier and superior to our previous efforts. While this may sound like typical pre-album release fodder, we believe it to be true considering the amount of time and effort we have poured into making Grave Image a reality. We are also operating with an expanded lineup — a second guitar player has joined the fold, thus adding a new dimension to the guitar department and subsequently enhancing the Deathwhite sound.

“We are grateful to once again be working alongside Shane Mayer for the album’s tracking — his attention to detail and meticulous nature is second-to-none. Due to new geographical realities, we will track vocals at Erik Rutan’s immaculate Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida, with engineer Art Paiz overseeing the sessions. Once recording and mixing are complete, the album will be sent across the pond to the legendary Dan Swano for mastering, a gentleman we hold in infinite regard for past musical works and production acumen.

“Additionally, we are in discussions for future live shows, something we’d like to do more of during the lead-up to 'Grave Image’s' eventual release. In the meantime, we will be working towards the album’s completion as well as finalizing its cover art, of which will be revealed at a later date.”

MAYHEM To Release New Album In October

MAYHEM To Release New Album In October

Century Media Records has announced the signing of Norwegian black metal forefathers MAYHEM to a worldwide deal. The band's sixth album will be released on October 25.

Founded in 1984, MAYHEM has released five studio albums as well as a number of demos, EPs and live albums since. Their debut full-length, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" (1994), is considered by many to be the most influential black metal album of all time. Having left behind the controversy surrounding its early years, MAYHEM continued to push boundaries and can nowadays be considered one of the most innovative forces of extreme metal and sinister art, which applies to both their live shows and their recent studio recordings.

The band comments: "Once again, MAYHEM is writing a new chapter in its 35-year history. We are excited to now have joined forces with Century Media and are eager to see what this partnership can do for us both in the future."

Soon after the release of the new MAYHEM album, the band will embark on a European headline tour with special guests GAAHLS WYRD and GOST.

MAYHEM's fifth full-length album, "Esoteric Warfare", came out in on May 2014 via Season Of Mist. The follow-up to 2007's "Ordo Ad Chao" was mixed at Mølla Studio in Gjerstad, Norway.

MAYHEM has gone through many lineup changes due to various circumstances. Therefore, even the loss of guitarist Blasphemer, who decided to focus on his other band AVA INFERI in 2008, did not stop the band. Activities mainly revolved around live shows, until the right balance was found again with the recruitment of Morten "Teloch" Iversen. The guitarist had already made a name for himself with NIDINGR, which is highly regarded among black metal enthusiasts yet remained mostly an underground phenomenon.

MAYHEM is:

Necrobutcher - Bass

Hellhammer - Drums

Attila Csihar - Vocals

Teloch - Guitar

Ghul - Guitar
