GENE SIMMONS Lists His Las Vegas Valley Estate For $14.95 MillionKISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has listed his Southern Nevada estate for $14,950,000. The Ivan Sher Group of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties has been selected to represent the home, located in the prestigious Ascaya community in Henderson just south of the Las Vegas Strip.
"This home offers so much, from its incredible sweeping valley views and its contemporary modern architecture to its dedication to privacy and exclusivity," said Evangelina Duke-Petroni, broker-salesperson at The Ivan Sher Group. Duke-Petroni is co-listing the property with Ivan Sher, principal of The Ivan Sher Group. "The attention to detail is very prevalent throughout the home, with features such as the oversized tiles on the floor, custom concrete bricks and wood accents on the ceiling."
Simmons's modern desert mansion in the McCullough Mountain Range boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the Las Vegas valley and the Strip unlike anywhere else in Southern Nevada. Expanding more than 11,000 square feet, the home is perched well above the valley and sits on a nearly one-acre two-parcel property, featuring a private garden with walking trails adjacent to the house.
The estate features three levels, including a lower-level basement, six bedrooms, eight baths and 11 attached garage spaces. The home guides residents through a secluded front courtyard entrance, featuring a floating walkway over a koi pond, water features and glass sculptures. Once inside, the center great room greets guests with a soaring three-tiered glass wall that overlooks the pool and the city lights below.
The majority of the rooms throughout the home showcase expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and disappearing glass walls for a seamless indoor-outdoor experience, including in the kitchen where sliding pocket doors open to a covered outdoor kitchen and a direct view of the Strip. The kitchen's custom contemporary design features glossy red accents throughout, angular stainless-steel appliances and cabinetry, dual center islands, double deep-bowl sinks, dual dishwashers and an elongated breakfast bar with room for seven seats.
The upstairs primary bedroom showcases an entire wall of glass and suspends over the backyard patio, providing a stunning illusion of floating over the entire valley. The room features a separate sitting area, a private balcony and a primary bathroom, with a dual shower and natural river rock accents. A secondary primary bedroom with a private powder room is on the downstairs level with access to the courtyard.
The home also includes a dining room with disappearing corner walls, allowing for a front courtyard view, as well as a commercial elevator to all three levels and a built-in tropical fish tank. On the lower level, residents can enjoy a swanky 11-seat theater with state-of-the-art theater equipment, and a private bar and lounge area, featuring bar seating and partially enclosed outdoor living space with three side-by-side TVs. A separate staircase leads from the bar to a resort-style backyard with a sunken firepit and a sparkling centerpiece pool with a shallow lounge area and spa.
The property is located within Ascaya, a pristine luxury gated community tucked away in the southern mountain ranges of the Las Vegas valley. Residents enjoy a massive 23,000 square-foot clubhouse with soaring rooflines, stunning terraced gardens and private social and event spaces. Ascaya's exclusive amenities include a well-appointed fitness center, recreation room, pool and spa, pickleball courts and a two-tiered tennis pavilion.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Simmons paid a combined $10.8 million for the home and a lot adjacent to it back in May.

NIKKI SIXX 'Would Love To' Make Some New Music With MÖTLEY CRÜENikki Sixx spoke to SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation L.A. Invasion" about MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD which was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus crisis. Asked if there are plans for additional CRÜE dates beyond next summer's shows, the 62-year-old bassist said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I know we're gonna tour next year, and that's gonna take us from June 19th to sometime in September. And then winter sets in, and we're in America, so there's nowhere else to play — unless we can go to other countries where it's summertime or spring or fall there. But what's gonna happen with COVID? So I don't know right now. I do know what's happening in America. I don't know what's going on in Europe or South America or Mexico [or] Australia [or] New Zealand."
As for whether there is a chance of a new MÖTLEY CRÜE studio album, Sixx said: "I would love to make some music with the guys again. I would love to get really simple and really raw and really dirty. And that's something I'm inspired by now, whether — it might be a new band or stuff I'm listening to and the simplicity of 'Black Dog', and you listen to that, and you're, like, 'Man…'
"Some of the stuff that's out right now is so good but it's also so overproduced," he continued. "I don't feel that when I listen to any genre music or just in the rock world, [BLACK] SABBATH had the same kick-drum sound as [LED] ZEPPELIN, the same kick-drum sound as AEROSMITH, the same guitar sound — they all had the same guitar sound. It bothers me that so much stuff sounds the same, yet it's also really good — really good hooks, really aggressive, really exciting. And so when I hear some younger bands — like, people will throw on GRETA VAN FLEET, for example. What everybody liked about that is it was just simple and raw and passionate, that first EP. And the same with THE STRUTS and stuff like that. There was some innocence to it. And I think that there's so much technology out there that we can fall prey to making it perfect. And I would love to make maybe some imperfect music."
MÖTLEY CRÜE's last studio album was 2008's "Saints Of Los Angeles", which was followed by a 2009 "Greatest Hits" compilation.
In 2018, MÖTLEY CRÜE recorded four new songs for "The Dirt" movie, including the single "The Dirt (Est. 1981) (Feat. Machine Gun Kelly)", "Ride With The Devil", "Crash And Burn" and the band's own spin on Madonna's "Like A Virgin".
When it happens, "The Stadium Tour" will mark the CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRÜE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017, but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts — including JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS — have hit the road together for an extended t

OZZY And SHARON OSBOURNE Biopic Lands At SONY PICTURES And POLYGRAM ENTERTAINMENTAccording to Variety, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have partnered with Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment for their upcoming biopic. The as-yet-untitled film, which will focus on the love story between the BLACK SABBATH frontman and his wife and manager, will be scripted by Lee Hall, who previously worked on Elton John's "Rocketman".
"Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together," said Sharon. "We're thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen."
The film is being produced by Sharon and her children Jack and Aimée Osbourne via their label Osbourne Media (which was also behind the Showtime documentary "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" and A&E's "Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne"), alongside Michele Anthony and David Blackman on behalf of Polygram Entertainment. Andrea Giannetti is overseeing development for Sony.
Variety also points out that music from BLACK SABBATH and Ozzy's solo career will be featured in the film.
Last year, Ozzy stated about the biopic: "From what I understand, it's about Sharon and I and our relationship. It's how we met, fell in love, and how we married. She's my other half. She grew up a lot with me, and I grew up a lot with her."
"I hope it will be a story that everybody can relate to," Sharon said. "You don't have to be a fan of the music, because it's a story about a survivor. No matter what life throws at you, you pick yourself up and you start again. It's just an amazing story of overcoming everything that's thrown at you in your life."
Sharon added that the film will be "a lot more real" than the QUEEN biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody". "We don't want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that," she said. "We're not making it for kids. It's an adult movie for adults."
Back in January 2019, Sharon told Variety that she had approached Danny Boyle ("28 Days Later", "Sunshine", "Trainspotting") about directing the film. "It's the madness of my childhood, growing up in the industry with a powerful father who was somewhat violent," she said.
Sharon went on to say that she "would get a complete unknown" to play Ozzy. "It's Ozzy at a very young age," she explained. "It's Ozzy at 20."
Sharon's father, former music mogul Don Arden, became known as the "Al Capone of pop" and the "English Godfather" for his tough-guy business practices while overseeing the careers of acts ranging from ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA to BLACK SABBATH. Arden and his daughter became estranged in 1982 after she took over the management of Ozzy's solo career, also marrying the singer. Father and daughter were not on good terms for nearly 20 years until reconciling in 2002.
Sharon had to pay her father $1 million in a court settlement after she gained control of Ozzy's affa

DEATH ANGEL To Release 'The Bastard Tracks' In NovemberSan Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans DEATH ANGEL will release a new live album titled "The Bastard Tracks" on Black Friday, November 26 via Nuclear Blast. Recorded live at The Great American Music Hall in their hometown of San Francisco on May 22, 2021, and streamed live soon after, "The Bastard Tracks" is a deep-cuts collection of rarely and never performed songs from the band's celebrated catalog that will be released digitally and on CD, vinyl and Blu-ray.
Vocalist Mark Osegueda states: "When we performed and filmed the songs for 'The Bastard Tracks', it was such a crazy time, and having missed being able to perform live for so long was taking its toll on me to a certain degree as I have been a live performer for the majority of my life. I must say it was a pretty dark time. I know it was for so many of us. But music once again helped to pull us through it.
"It was a bit odd performing to no crowd, but it felt great re-learning some deep tracks and getting on stage with the guys and unleashing this pent-up aggression. And the response from everyone who tuned into it suggesting that we release it as an album was overwhelming. Well… thanks to them, here it is. I hope you enjoy it."
Guitarist Rob Cavestany added: "Choosing and sequencing the songs for 'The Bastard Tracks' setlist was quite a different trip. All of them had rarely (and in some instances never) been played live. We hadn't performed in front of a live audience for over a year, the longest ever for this band. It was to be filmed live at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and then broadcast worldwide on the good ol' interweb! I could get into that…
"From basically re-learning most of these songs to getting them as tight as they should be, we put our energy together and made it happen. I'm thankful for having had this goal to focus on during those (still) crazy earth crisis days. It gave us an important reason to get together at DA studio and JAM! Literally the only time I've felt 'normal' since 2020 was while we were jamming. Fortunately, we've been able to do it a lot. Now, we proudly present the audio and visual recordings of those sessions. Turn it up! P.S. - We cannot wait to exchange live energy with you as soon as possible!!"
Today, DEATH ANGEL has revealed the record's first single and live music video for "Where They Lay".
Osegueda said of the track: "'Where They Lay' is a prime example of a DEATH ANGEL bastard track. We have rarely played this song live and I'm guessing the last time we did was 2010. I love the release I get singing this song. Namely because the screaming bits I do are so cathartic. And I need a release during these crazy times. And screaming is one of my favorite ways to get frustration out of my system. I look forward to screaming in front of a live audience again soon."
Cavestany added: "Rise! This empowering message echoes thru the entire song from the first note to the last. 'Where They Lay' is one of our pure thrash cuts with those chugging riffs, pounding grooves and vicious lyrics that incites headbanging and thrashing. It's so fun to play on guitar, I love the percussive, rhythmic attack and the solos are so twangy. I'm stoked to include it in the set and to launch it as the first single from our upcoming release 'The Bastard Tracks'."
Last December, DEATH ANGEL streamed its seventh annual "Another Death Angel XMas Show" from The Great Northern in San Francisco.
This past January, DEATH ANGEL drummer Will Carroll confirmed to EXODUS frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza's YouTube channel, Zetro's Toxic Vault, that he and his bandmates have spent part of their coronavirus downtime putting together material for the follow-up to the Grammy-nominated "Humanicide" album.
In October 2020, DEATH ANGEL released a four-song EP, "Under Pressure". The effort included a cover of QUEEN + David Bowie's "Under Pressure", followed by a new track titled "Faded Remains", plus acoustic versions of "Act III"'s classic "A Room With A View" and "Humanicide"'s "Revelation Song". The EP was mixed by Max Norman (OZZY OSBOURNE, MEGADETH, BAD COMPANY) and mastered by Ted Jensen (LAMB OF GOD, MACHINE HEAD, HALESTORM).
Released in May 2019 via Nuclear Blast, "Humanicide" saw DEATH ANGEL returning to producer and friend Jason Suecof (DEICIDE, TRIVIUM) of Audiohammer studios for the recording and mixing, along with the mastering of the legendary Ted Jensen (SLIPKNOT, PANTERA) of Sterling Sound, who added the final touches and brought it all to life, with artist Brent Elliott White (LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH) providing the ominous cover artwork.
In March 2020, Carroll spent almost two weeks on a ventilator in an intensive care unit at a Northern California hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. He first got sick when he and the rest of DEATH ANGEL spent more than a month on the road in Europe with TESTAMENT and EXODUS as part of "The Bay Strikes Back 2020" tour.

TESLA's FRANK HANNON Is Working On A BookIn a new interview with Rockin' Metal Revival, TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon was asked if he has given any thought to the idea of writing a book. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yes, I do have a concept for a book that I've been working on in my mind. And the tentative title of it is 'Modern Day Cowboy'. Because I do a lot of horse activities and I work with a lot of people in a different culture — the true authentic cowboy culture down in Texas.
"Whether you're a musician or you're a cowboy or whatever you are in life, there's a mentality that goes with staying strong and fighting through adversity, and that's really the true meaning of a cowboy," he explained. "So I kind of have that concept in my mind about the book I wanna write."
Hannon also said that he has yet to check out "Son Of A Milkman: My Crazy Life With Tesla", the recently released autobiography from his TESLA bandmate, bassist Brian Wheat.
"Everyone asks me, 'Have you read his book? Have you read his book?'" Frank said. "And I haven't read his book. You know why? 'Cause I lived it with him, man. He and I go back to junion high school together."
In August, TESLA postponed several shows due to members of the touring party — including Hannon — contracting COVID-19. Hannon later issued a statement saying that he had "not been able to move all week" and revealed that he woke up with a 102-degree fever and could "hardly breathe" on the day that TESLA was scheduled to leave for tour.
TESLA played the first two shows of its summer 2021 tour — August 5 in Grants Pass, Oregon and August 6 in Grand Ronde, Oregon — without Frank. Filling in for him was Simon (JEFF SCOTT SOTO, GRAHAM BONNET, STRYPER), who previously stood in for Hannon in September 2018.
In late August, TESLA released the official music video for its brand new single, "Cold Blue Steel". The clip was directed by Brandon Gullion and produced by Hannon.

Was DAVID ELLEFSON's Family Supportive In Wake Of Sex Video Scandal? He RespondsDuring an appearance Tuesday (October 19) on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", David Ellefson opened up about his dismissal from MEGADETH five months ago, just days after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving the bassist and a woman that is not his wife were posted on Twitter. Asked if his family, including his wife of 27 years and their two children, both of whom are in their late 20s, were "supportive" and "understanding" throughout the ordeal, Ellefson responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Look, [they were] supportive, understanding… Not so supportive, not so understanding. I mean, dad's in a rock band, and not just any band — MEGADETH. Let's face it: we've been a band with a history. And this isn't to discolor or paint anything on the current MEGADETH at all, because, obviously, 2021 is not the way it was in 1986. But there's a reason we had a 'Behind The Music' [special from VH1].
"Look, I've tried to be very transparent, and I think we kind of did in that band over the years," he continued. "We were very transparent in things — when things happened in our personal lives and things happened in the group, we were always pretty open about it. And I've talked openly about getting clean from drugs and booze years ago and all of these things.
"On the home life, again, look — I was in MEGADETH to start, and then the families come after. And again, I think there is a reconciling of the lifestyles, that it's, like, 'Okay, dad's off at the circus being the rock and roll guy and all that comes with that,' including a very comfortable life that affords you opportunities you would not get in any other life. At the same time, it certainly doesn't give license to go out and misbehave. So I think there is that. And again, that's probably you and me just talking as husbands and fathers and all that we are in a show biz lifestyle. And again, that's just the reality of that. And we've seen a lot of our friends be successful with it, struggle with it, et cetera, et cetera.
"I remember Ace Frehley years ago, and this isn't to discount it at all, but I remember there was a quote from Ace, he said, 'Drugs and girls are an occupational hazard.' And I remember reading that when I was a kid. And I didn't understand it at that time. And then later in life, I would understand, that's it's, like, hazard pay, if you will. And in every life, there is that, and that happens to be one in our way of life over here in the creative world, especially touring rock and rollers."
According to Ellefson, he has received a lot of support from fellow musicians in the months after the episode.
"I was flying pretty high pretty fast at a high altitude and hit some turbulence, no doubt," he said. "And people reminded me, [they said], 'Listen, we're all human. We all make mistakes, man.' And even more so in rock and roll.
"A lot of other musicians, industry people, rock stars — from the smallest to the absolute biggest — reached out to me," he continued. "Everybody was, like, 'Hey, brother, are you okay? Anything you need, let me know.' And it was very supportive from everybody. Which was great because everyone is on your side when you're picking up your Grammy and you're on the red carpet and everything is going great, but the greater judge of character is who are you, who am I when we're kind of at our bottom, when we've shown some real humanness. And this was a moment where, I'm happy to say, people really rallied around me.
"I've gone through a few dark seasons in my life over the years, as we all do — drugs and alcohol, in and out of MEGADETH 20 years ago. Things happen, things go down. This was a dark one, I'm not gonna lie."
Shortly after explicit video of him emerged online, Ellefson released a statement on Instagram denying all social media chatter that he "groomed" an underage fan. He also filed a report with the police department in Scottsdale, Arizona alleging unlawful distribution of sexually explicit images of him by unknown offenders. In the report, Ellefson admitted that he had been exchanging sexual text messages with a Dutch teenager, who captured a video of several of their virtual "masturbating encounters" without his consent and shared them with friends. (According to Ellefson, the woman was 19 at the time of their first virtual sexual encounter.) Ellefson, who lives in Scottsdale, first became aware of the video on May 9, when the claim "David Ellefson of MEGADETH is a pedophile" appeared on Instagram. Ellefson told police he was notified on May 14 by MEGADETH that the band would be parting ways with him. Three days later, he was fired.
Two days after MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine announced Ellefson's latest departure from the band, the bassist released a follow-up statement in which he vowed to file a "defamation lawsuit" against the person who "illegally posted a very private video" of the bassist and made "false allegations" against him. He also said he was working with the police in Scottsdale "in their investigation into charges regarding revenge pornography to be filed against the person who posted the video. This person will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Ellefson wrote. He went on to say that he was "taking this time to be with my family" and wished his "bandmates" the best with their upcoming t 3

SIXX:A.M. Doesn't Have Any Plans To Tour Or Record More New MusicSIXX:A.M., the long-running project featuring MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx alongside former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba and vocalist James Michael, will release a compilation album, "Hits", on October 22 via Better Noise Music. The album is a retrospective celebration of SIXX:A.M.'s biggest hits and fan-favorite songs that also includes previously five unheard tracks and mixes, marking the band's first official album with new material since 2016.
Michael discussed "Hits" and SIXX:A.M.'s future plans during a new interview with Metal On Loud. When the interviewer pointed out to James that greatest-hits albums are usually something that bands release at the end of their careers, he responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I think for us, we really don't know what the future holds for SIXX:A.M. So for us, when we sat down and started doing these recordings [for 'Hits'], it was pretty much, in our minds, 'Okay, this is a good way to kind of wrap up SIXX:A.M.'s body of work.' So we were kind of looking at it as 'This is the end, at least for now.' And that was also an important aspect to us going into the studio and doing this because we really wanted to be able to — for lack of a better way to describe it — wrap this up and put a nice bow on it and really feel like we've controlled this from the beginning to the end. So it was fun and it was exciting. And as I said, we never know what SIXX:A.M. is gonna do in the future, but for now, we're looking at this and saying, 'This is a good way to wrap this up.'"
Asked if there are any plans for SIXX:A.M. to hit the road in support of "Hits", James said: "We don't have any tour plans. I know that, of course, MÖTLEY CRÜE has this big tour that has been planned and rescheduled. So I think that that's probably all-encompassing for Nikki and the gang, as far as that goes. But we right now don't have any plans to do that.
"When we got off the road a couple of years ago, we were all pretty burnt out. And I think that we just naturally kind of made the decision that that might be it for SIXX:A.M. as far as touring goes. But you never know what time off does to somebody. So we'll see."
Inspired by the release of Sixx's "The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx", SIXX:A.M. members Michael, Ashba and Sixx are making "Hits" available as a companion piece to the book.
In 2007, SIXX:A.M. released "The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack", which acted as a companion piece to Sixx's best-selling memoir "The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star", released the same year, introducing the concept of a book soundtrack into popular culture. Both the book and the album were successes upon release, with the book instantly becoming a New York Times best seller in its first week, selling out in bookstores around the U.S. The album spawned the No. 1 single "Life Is Beautiful", while simultaneously receiving critical acclaim and eventually achieving gold certification in the U.S.
"Hits" track listing:
01. Life Is Beautiful (3:35)
02. This Is Gonna Hurt (3:56)

MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

OF MICE & MEN To Release 'Echo' Album In DecemberCalifornia hard rockers OF MICE & MEN will release their seventh album, "Echo", on December 3 via SharpTone Records. The LP is comprised of the previously issued "Timeless" and "Bloom" EPs, along with the new and final "Ad Infinitum" EP. The EP will be released on vinyl in April 2022.
The band has also shared the video for latest single "Fighting Gravity". Watch it below.
"'Fighting Gravity' is about learning to let go, while also recognizing the impermanence and shortness of life," says bassist/vocalist Aaron Pauley. "We think we're in control of so much, but we're really not, and that existential dilemma is at the foundation of the human condition."
"'Echo' is a snapshot of the last year and a half of our lives," the band says, summing the album up. "It covers loss and growth, life and impermanence, love, and the infinite — how the most wonderful and most tragic parts of the human experience are deeply intertwined."
The Southern California-based quartet used their time spent in the 2020 lockdown, which was the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, in an incredibly productive way. They recorded all of the music on "Echo" during that time by working remotely via Zoom and sharing files. They had not been in the same room together since February 2020 and the start of the global shutdown.
"Echo" was produced entirely by the band, and mixed and mastered by Pauley. "Echo" also includes the band's take on the CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH track "Helplessly Hoping", which closes out the release.
As is the case with all previous 2021 music drops, the artwork (pictured below) was designed by the iconic artist Derek Hess.
"Echo" track listing:
01. Timeless
02. Obsolete
03. Anchor
04. Levee
05. Bloom
06. Pulling Teeth

09. Echo
10. Helplessly Hoping

ZAKK WYLDE Is 'Beyond Honored' To Be Playing Alongside ERIC CLAPTON And JEFF BECK On New OZZY OSBOURNE AlbumOzzy Osbourne recently confirmed that 15 songs have been recorded for his upcoming follow-up to 2020's "Ordinary Man" album. He is once again working with producer Andrew Watt on the "work-in-progress" LP, which will include guest appearances by Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi and Zakk Wylde.
Asked about his contributions to the new Ozzy LP, Zakk told Music Radar: "The new Ozzy stuff is sounding great. And for sure, it's an honor to play on a record with all my heroes. It's pretty cool… I can't wait for everyone to hear it. I've always loved 'Blow By Blow' and 'Wired', but honestly, every record Jeff Beck has put out is amazing."
Wylde went on to say that Beck "definitely sounds slamming" on the upcoming Ozzy album. "The same goes for all the guys — what Tony Iommi played, and then Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, it's all killer, for sure. On those tracks I'm playing rhythm guitar for my heroes… it's crazy! It sounds awesome and I'm beyond honored to be doing it."
Earlier in the month, Ozzy told Metal Hammer magazine that his new album will be "similar in tone to 'Ordinary Man', but I can't describe it completely. I've not heard it for a while because it keeps going over to the next person to add their parts — we're fucking around with it all the time," he said.
Watt connected with Osbourne after meeting Ozzy's daughter Kelly at a friend's party and pitching her on the idea of Post Malone and Ozzy collaborating together.
Six months ago, Ozzy told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine that he and Andrew had completed more than a dozen for his next studio LP. "My only concern right now is finishing the bloody thing," he said. "We've got the same production time as the last time, so there's definitely going to be some similarities. But you'll just have to wait and see what you think."
In December 2020, Watt told Guitar World that he and the BLACK SABBATH legend were "halfway through" the new LP. "There's some songs on there that are like eight or nine minutes long that are these really crazy journeys. I'm really excited about it," he said.
Like "Ordinary Man", which featured Watt on guitar, Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES) on bass and Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) on drums, Ozzy's next album will feature guest appearances by a number of other notable musicians. "There's a bunch of people involved," Andrew told Guitar World. "I can't say for sure until the end, but I started doing a bunch of basic tracks with Chad and Robert Trujillo [METALLICA], who used to play in Ozzy's band. And Taylor Hawkins [FOO FIGHTERS] also came in and played a bunch on the record as well, which adds a different flair — it kind of harkened back to Ozzy's '80s era, in a great way. And I think it's so cool for a rock fan to be able to listen to half an album with Chad Smith on drums, and then you flip it over and you get to hear Taylor Hawkins. And you know, the last album was really special for everyone involved. And so there was no point in Ozzy or me doing this again unless we thought we could bring something new to the table. And I feel like we're achieving that."
Wylde, who has played with Ozzy on and off for nearly 35 years, told Classic Rock that he wasn't disappointed to be excluded from "Ordinary Man". "Not at all," he said. "I thought he and Andrew Watt did a great job. And I'm not on the new one either. Again it's Ozz and Andrew. I understand why I'm not in the studio. Ozz once said to me that he didn't want to be the lead singer in BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: 'You have your own thing now, so go to it.'
"I don't have to be involved in everything Ozz does. I'll always be there for him and Sharon. If they call now and ask me to go over to feed their dogs for three days… I'm there."
This past April, Zakk told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he checked out some of the songs on "Ordinary Man" and liked what he heard. "It came out cool," he said. "I saw the videos and everything like that. It's cool, man. And Andrew and everything like that — yeah, it was rocking."

GIL MOORE Says It Was 'A Good Decision' To Split Songwriting Credits Equally In TRIUMPHIn a brand new interview with Let's Rock, drummer Gil Moore of Canadian rock legends TRIUMPH discussed the band's decision to split its songwriting credits equally between the three members of the group. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "There were various contributions at various times, and we also knew that we all had sort of a role to play. So, for example, [bassist] Mike Levine was, from day one, and still is to this day, really functioned as not just a musician but also a producer. In today's world of Drake and Justin Bieber, a producer is a writer of sorts. So maybe we were forecasting that value on to a producer.
"We looked at a lot of the production techniques or the producer guidance commentary — call it what you will — to be creatively as important sometimes as what chords you're playing or what lyrics you're singing," he explained. "It's almost like looking at it through the lens of rhythm — there's no provision for rhythm being part of writing, and yet we knew that in a rock band, especially a three-piece one, how incredibly important the rhythm is. So I think at a certain point — it was after [1979's] 'Just A Game' — when we kind of talked about how do you really assign who contributed what to a song. It was difficult. So we just decided, you know what? Whether one person is more instrumental in a certain song or not that we just would take credit, and individual credit would go the way of the dodo bird and we would just take credit as a band. I think it was a good decision, just for band unity and not having to really be concerned with credit. There's so much effort that goes into a three-piece band, and everybody's doing so much, it's hard to keep track of the little bits and pieces. So that's how we operated."
Moore also touched upon the importance of drumming in rock music, arguing that some drummers' contributions are significant enough to warrant a songwriting credit.
"RUSH is a great group, obviously," he said. "If you take Neil [Peart] — rest in peace; great guy [and an] unbelievable drummer — and if you were to take him out of RUSH and insert someone else, or listen to the band with [original RUSH drummer] John Rutsey playing drums or whatever, you realize, yeah, the songs really change. When you change him, you're changing a lot. And I think the same thing would happen if you were to switch out Alex [Lifeson] or you were to switch out Geddy [Lee], you'd find the same thing. 'Cause those guys were all such a piece of the signature of that band. And most bands are like that.
"Look, with THE [ROLLING] STONES, having Charlie [Watts] pass away a few weeks ago, and you go, 'Well, there's a lot of guys that can play Charlie Watts's parts.' No — not so much," he continued. "Just try. I don't care who it is. There's a certain signature to Charlie's playing that's unmistakeable. People would tend to think it would be easy to replicate simply because his concepts of percussion were sparse, but it's not easy to change out that. Whatever that secret sauce or that signature that he has is, it's pretty difficult to [replicate]."
The first-ever feature documentary about TRIUMPH's dramatic career, "Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine" (changed from the working title of "Triumph: Lay It On The Line"), received its world premiere last month at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Produced by Emmy and Peabody award-winning Banger Films, it is a Crave original documentary that was previously described as "a celebratory, exhilarating thrill ride through the history of one of rock's most unsung acts."
Moore, Levine, and guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett formed TRIUMPH in 1975, and their blend of heavy riff-rockers with progressive odysseys, peppered with thoughtful, inspiring lyrics and virtuosic guitar playing quickly made them a household name in Canada. Anthems like "Lay It On The Line", "Magic Power" and "Fight The Good Fight" broke them in the USA, and they amassed a legion of fiercely passionate fans. But, as a band that suddenly split at the zenith of their popularity, TRIUMPH missed out on an opportunity to say thank you to those loyal and devoted fans, a base that is still active today, three decades later.
Back in 2016, Moore and Levine reunited with Rik as special guests on the "RES 9" album from Emmett's band RESOLUTION9.
After 20 years apart, Emmett, Levine and Moore played at the 2008 editions of the Sweden Rock Festival and Rocklahoma. A DVD of the historic Sweden performance was made available four years later.

Former DEATH Drummer BILL ANDREWS 'Was Totally On Board' To Take Part In CHUCK SCHULDINER Tribute ConcertsFormer DEATH members James Murphy (guitar) and Terry Butler (bass) will perform the band's classic third album, "Spiritual Healing", in its entirety at two shows in Florida. The December 11 and December 12 concerts at the Brass Mug in Tampa — where Murphy and Butler will be joined by drummer Gus Rios (ex-MALEVOLENT CREATION, DIVINE EMPIRE) and guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey (EXHUMED, GRUESOME) — will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the passing of DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner.
Butler discussed the upcoming performances during an appearance on a new episode of "The Jasta Show", the video podcast hosted by HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "[Former DEATH drummer] Bill Andrews was totally on board to do this, and he wanted to really do it. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic — he's in Japan; he's been living there for 20-plus years — the rules in Japan and so forth, and also his passport needs to be renewed, and it's so backlogged that he can't do it. But he was really torn up about it. But he's moving back to Florida. And he wants to get back into the scene and do some drumming."
He continued: "[Bill] actually started MASSACRE — him and Allen West. But he played on [DEATH's] 'Leprosy', he played on 'Spiritual Healing', he played on [MASSACRE's] 'From Beyond', he played on the 'Inhuman Condition' EP. He's just been out of the scene for a long time, but he wants to get back in."
As for what fans can expect from the Brass Mug concerts, Butler said: "We're gonna do 'Spiritual Healing' in its entirety. And we're gonna play three or four extra songs from the 'Scream Bloody Gore'/'Leprosy' era. The band that is opening is called SYMBOLIC. It's [former DEATH guitarist] Bobby Koelble, some of the guys from [the DEATH tribute band] DTA [DEATH TO ALL], and they're gonna play the DEATH stuff after 'Spiritual'. So it should be two great shows. And it's the first time me and James have been together on stage since 1990."
Originally released in 1990, "Spiritual Healing" marked a new turn in the DEATH discography, one which ushered in cleaner production, a new level of boundary pushing musicianship and songwriting skills that were previously unimaginable from a metal band. "Spiritual Healing" sets the standard for riffs, insane time changes and, of course, Schuldiner's masterful guitar solos. Reissued in 2012 as a double CD housed in super deluxe packaging featuring brand new liner notes from Murphy and Butler, Chuck's sister Beth Schuldiner and VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen, Disc 1 featured a completely new remaster of the original album and Disc 2 contained 16 previously unreleased rehearsal, outtakes and studio instrumentals.
In addition to the two-disc edition, a limited-edition (2000 machine-numbered copies) triple-CD digipak was made available exclusively from Relapse.com. The third CD featured a never-before-released live set recorded in 1990 featuring the "Spiritual Healing" DEATH lineup. An iTunes deluxe edition was also released containing five additional previously unreleased pre-"Human" rehearsal tracks not available on either of the CD versions.
Schuldiner died on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor.
In recent years, DEATH's storied catalog has undergone a meticulous reissue campaign via Relapse Records.
Relapse released the first-ever fully authorized DEATH tab book, featuring 21 classic songs tabbed out for guitar from the band's entire discography. The book, which includes traditional notation as well as tablature, also comes with a digital download of all tracks.

STAIND's AARON LEWIS Blasts U.S. Democratic Party: 'Quit Trying To Ruin My F**king Country'STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis has accused the U.S. Democratic Party of " trying to ruin" the country.
The outspoken conservative rocker, who reinvented himself as a solo country artist in the last decade, voiced his views before performing his new single called "Am I The Only One" during his October 17 concert at the Charleston Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, West Virginia.
Addressing the fact that "Am I The Only One" takes aim at liberals and touches on American flags burning and statues that have been removed in the U.S., he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "All those statues, they were all Democrats. All of 'em. It's funny how they're trying to erase their own history. It's their history.
"It's not the fault of America in any way, shape or form. The scars of America are not the scars of America. They're the scars of the Democratic Party, plain and simple. If you paid attention in history class, you'd know this already. But don't take my word for it. Get off Google and look it up.
"They think it's about statues," he continued. "They don't think it's about the thousands of ships parked just off our ports unable to unload the goods that we need so desperately because the government is standing in the fucking way. It's not about the fact that they are teaching our children to judge each other by the color of their skin. It's not about the fact that we were all locked down while a bunch of Democrats rioted in the streets and burned down cities and looted stores. No, it's not that at all. No, it's about me defending a bunch of Democratic statues being torn down.
"It's fucking really fucking ridiculous.
"Wake up, people," Lewis added. "They're purposely trying to sink our ship. A very small handful of people compared to all of us where the power lies. It is we the people.
"This is the only country in the world that is designed with the power from the bottom up.
"Every single thing that the government has ever done that wasn't good for this country is to flip it around from the top down.
"If you want top down, go to any communist country in the fucking world. Go to any socialist country in the world. Go to any other fucking country in the world. Quit trying to ruin my fucking country."
In recent months, Lewis has repeteadly accused the Democratic Party of fighting against every major civil rights initiative and of having a long history of discrimination.
According to a "fact-check" article that was published by USA Today in June 2020, historians agree that although factions of the Democratic Party did majorly contribute to the Civil War's start and the KKK's founding, it is inaccurate to say the party is responsible for either.
As the Democrats introduced policies to support voting rights, it became the favored party for most black voters and has remained so since. With that realignment, many racist voters who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 left the Democratic Party to become Republicans.
Lewis, who is widely considered to be one of the most politically conservative musicians in rock, made headlines last month when he urged his fans to chant "Fuck Joe Biden" during a STAIND concert in Pennsylvania.
Aaron told the Anchorage Press in a January 2020 interview that he considered the first Donald Trump impeachment by the House Of Representatives as the clearest representation of what's wrong with America these days.
Lewis was a staunch critic of President Barack Obama, telling a crowd at one of his solo concerts in 2016: "Barack Obama should have been impeached a long fucking time ago. Every fucking decision he makes is against the Constitution, it's against what's good for our fucking country, and he is truly the worst fucking president that we have ever had in the history of this fucking country."
That same year, Lewis told Billboard that he would support Trump in the U.S. presidential race, even though he was "disappointed" by the real estate mogul "with the bickering and the name-calling." Lewis added that he voted for Senator Ted Cruz, Trump's closest competitor in the Republican nomination race, in the Massachusetts primary. 2

MIKE MANGINI Accepts That He Will Never Be Fully Embraced By 'A Small Group' Of DREAM THEATER FansDuring a new appearance on "The Everyman Podcast", DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Mangini discussed the fact that he has yet to be embraced by a contingent of fans who pine for the days when Mike Portnoy was still in the band. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We're under a microscope to the point that it's almost hilarious. It doesn't matter how long [I've been in the band] — there's a small group of fans that just, no matter what, there's nothing I can do right. Which is fine — people are used to what they're used to and all that. That just doesn't bother me. I'm just, like, 'Okay, that is what it is.' I understand that. But even with that crowd, all the first comments that come up are slamming us and it's all that crowd. Why are they always the first ones to comment? If it's true, they're just waiting for it and just waiting to be the first ones [to say something]. They're always waiting on our every move even though they don't like us anymore. I find that bizarre.
"All I know is one thing — that they're there, and they're there all the time," he continued. "So I'm just wondering why as far as that. But maybe it's, again, a nostalgia thing where, 'Hey, I'm a fan of AC/DC. I really don't want them going too far off from 'Back In Black'. I don't.' Every band has had a couple of albums, an era or whatever it is, that certain people just like. And when it gets changed, it's uncomfortable.
"Here's the thing, the bottom line about it all: I understand that. I said it from day one: I'm not gonna be liked by X percentage of people. And I wouldn't like me either. [Laughs] So whatever."
Mangini joined DREAM THEATER in late 2010 through a widely publicized audition following the departure of Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 35 years ago. Mangini beat out six other of the world's top drummers — Marco Minnemann, Virgil Donati, Aquiles Priester, Thomas Lang, Peter Wildoer and Derek Roddy — for the gig, a three-day process that was filmed for a documentary-style reality show called "The Spirit Carries On".
Mangini made his name in the hard rock world in the mid-1990s when he played with EXTREME, before landing the gig with guitar legend Steve Vai in 1996. Nearly a decade later, Mangini took up a full-time teaching position at the world-renowned Berklee College Of Music.
DREAM THEATER's new album, "A View From The Top Of The World", is due on October 22. The LP marks DREAM THEATER's second studio album with InsideOut Music/Sony Music. The artwork was created by longtime cover collaborator Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, STONE SOUR). "A View From The Top Of The World" was produced by Petrucci, engineered and additional production by James "Jimmy T" Meslin and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap.

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of METALLICA Performing 'Of Wolf And Man' At AFTERSHOCK FestivalProfessionally filmed video footage of METALLICA performing the song "Of Wolf And Man" on October 10 at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California can be seen below.
Around 40,000 people attended each day over the course of the four-day event starting on October 7 at Sacramento's Discovery Park.
A number of COVID protocols were in place for this year's Aftershock, with Sacramento County Public Health issuing a statement saying they provided the festival organizers "information regarding the current California Department of Public Health guidance for mega-events which include requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test."
Chamie McCurry, chief marketing officer with production company Danny Wimmer Presents, said: "From the beginning of the year, as long as we were going to be allowed by the local authorities, we were going to be bringing this event back and we were going to be doing it safely."
McCurry said that METALLICA was the biggest draw this year, performing two nights of the festival.
"It's a truly unique experience for METALLICA fans to be able to see them two nights, never repeat a song. Two completely different sets," McCurry told KCRA. "This is something that's part of history."
Mike Testa, president and CEO of Visit Sacramento, said that this year's Aftershock was expected to generate an economic impact of close to $30 million.
In August, Danny Wimmer Presents announced that the sold-out Aftershock would require attendees, staff, crew and artists to provide proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or a negative test within 72 hours of their first day at the festival. The festival also added a section to its web site about virus safety guidelines.
In a statement posted on social media, Danny Wimmer Presents founder Danny Wimmer said: "We are at an unprecedented crossroads with uncertainty about whether or not our festivals will happen this Fall. It is not my nature to idly sit back and let others decide our fate. Instead, I am going to do everything in my power to ensure that our festivals happen, even if that means enacting policies that some people may not agree with. But before you react negatively to our policy, please consider this. What I see is that the fans feel the world needs music festivals now more than ever. We need to bring people back together to heal from the past 18 months. We need to get the people and artists whose livelihoods depend on live events back to work. I am confident that these requirements are what is needed to guarantee that we have fun and safe festivals this Fall."

PUDDLE OF MUDD To Begin Recording New Album: 'I Have A Ton Of Songs,' Says WES SCANTLINPUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin has told The 13th Floor's Marty Duda that he and his bandmates are preparing to begin recording the follow-up to 2019's "Welcome To Galvania" album. "We're probably gonna be going into the studio either in the next couple of weeks or a month from now — get in there and just have a good time," he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
Asked if he has any producers in mind for PUDDLE OF MUDD's sixth studio album, Wes said: "I might even do it with a couple of different producers. I'm not really sure at this point. But, yeah, I'll figure it out."
According to Scantlin, there is plenty of material in the works for the upcoming effort. "I just have a ton of songs, which I call ideas," he said. "I'll take this song here and that song there and this piece of that song and I'll put this chorus over this song's bridge and this song's verse. And I start combining them. It's really, really kind of a cool little process that I do. I think a lot of other writers probably do the same thing. I like to make a little collage. Pretty cool."
Wes also didn't rule out collaborations with outside writers, explaining: "I love writing with other people because I get to see their angle and the way that they're looking at the song. It's really, really cool to work with other artists and other songwriters. I love it to death. And I will never stop doing that. And everybody gets credit where credit's due, man. I ain't trying to rip anybody off. It's just, like, 'Hey, we'll split this the way it's supposed to be split and everybody can walk away happy. And we can all still be friends.'"
PUDDLE OF MUDD played a number of U.S. shows this past summer in support of "Welcome To Galvania".
"Welcome To Galvania" was released via Pavement Entertainment. PUDDLE OF MUDD's first album in a decade consisted of ten new tracks and was produced by Cameron Webb (ALKALINE TRIO, DISTURBED, MOTÖRHEAD).
PUDDLE OF MUDD was formed in 1991 in Kansas City by Scantlin, the only original member still with the band.
Wes had almost non-stop problems with the law, alcohol, finances and other issues, before finally getting sober in 2017. He and the rest of PUDDLE OF MUDD rebuilt a touring base, which paved the way to new music and a new album. Scantlin said that he ended up going back to rehab and receiving treatment "because there's really nowhere else to go." He also credited his family and fans for giving him the strength to try to get better.
PUDDLE OF MUDD broke into the mainstream with 2001's "Come Clean", which yielded three hits — "Control", "Blurry" and "She Hates Me". 1

RISE AGAINST To Release 'Nowhere Sessions' EP In NovemberRISE AGAINST will release a new EP, "Nowhere Sessions", a live expansion of its acclaimed latest album, "Nowhere Generation", on November 12 via Loma Vista Recordings. Inspired by the album's success and this summer's triumphant U.S. tour playing various sold-out amphitheatres and major festival stages nationwide, the EP captures and celebrates the anthemic intensity of the band's renowned performances, shown here in peak form. First single "Talking to Ourselves (Nowhere Sessions)" , a live version of the band's current radio single and one of three "Nowhere Generation" tracks featured on the EP, is out now.
Of the song, singer/guitarist Tim McIlrath says: "'Talking To Ourselves' is about watching yourself and the people around you fall into complacency. Despite your best efforts to get people's attention, it feels like no one is listening. Sometimes we feel the urge to do something crazy, to disturb the peace, to jostle the world around us awake. Our actions might be seen as out of the ordinary, but they are acts of desperation when all else failed."
Other songs on "Nowhere Sessions" include RISE AGAINST's 2009 breakout hit "Savior", which has accumulated nearly one billion streams to date and held its place at No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart for a staggering 65 consecutive weeks, as well as fiery covers of MISFITS' "Hybrid Moments" and CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's "Fortunate Son". The EP also features a live version of their soaring, impassioned rock hit "Nowhere Generation" (the original climbed to No. 1 at Rock radio and No. 7 at Alternative radio, where it held in the Top 10 for 10 consecutive weeks).
"Our songs take on so many different patinas when we play them live or strip them down," says McIlrath of the new EP. "In some ways, every time we play it is different. It was fun to document one of those sessions and we're excited to share it with the world."
McIlrath and Zach Blair of RISE AGAINST will next play three intimate U.K. album-release shows in November in support of "Nowhere Generation". The full band will close out 2021 by playing Chicago's Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom on December 10 as part of WKQX's "The Nights We Stole Christmas" festival. A current itinerary is below, including an initial set of 2022 live dates.
On "Nowhere Generation", released in June, the multi-gold and platinum band draws a line in the sand with its blazing and aggressive punk rock and lyrics that shine a spotlight on the social and economical deck that has been stacked against our younger generations' pursuit of The American Dream. The album debuted at the top of multiple Billboard charts with its first-week sales (No. 1 on Rock, No. 3 on Top Current Albums, No. 3 on Vinyl, and the Top 40 of the Top 200), and has been earning the band great press from outlets including Revolver, Consequence, Brooklyn Vegan, Grammy.com, American Songwriter, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Kerrang!, and All Music, while June 4 was declared "Rise Against Day" In Chicago, the band's original hometown.
"Nowhere Sessions" EP track listing:
01. Talking To Ourselves (Nowhere Sessions)
02. Broken Dreams, Inc. (Nowhere Sessions)
03. Fortunate Son (Nowhere Sessions)
04. Nowhere Generation (Nowhere Sessions)
05. Hybrid Moments (Nowhere Sessions)
06. Savior (Nowhere Sessions)

The Bulgarian fans can be sure the band will return to this glorious country, a MANOWAR representative said. MANOWAR released a new EP, "The Final Battle I", in March 2019. Parts II and III of the trilogy will arrive at a later date, inspired by MANOWAR's adventures on the remainder of "The Final Battle".
In 2019, MANOWAR recruited Anders Johansson as the band's new drummer.
The Swedish musician made his live debut with MANOWAR in March 2019 in Brno, Czech Republic.
Johansson can be heard on "The Final Battle I", which was initially made available in an exclusive pre-sale at the merchandise booth of the band's "The Final Battle" world tour.
Former MANOWAR guitarist Karl Logan was arrested in August 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina and charged with six counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor. He was jailed after pleading guilty to two child-pornography counts.
A few days after Karl's arrest was made public, MANOWAR issued a statement saying that he would no longer perform with the group. He has since been replaced by E.V. Martel, who previously played in a MANOWAR tribute b 2

ROBERT PLANT And ALISON KRAUSS Release Lyric Video For 'Can't Let Go'Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have released the official lyric video for the song "Can't Let Go", from their first new album in fourteen years. Out November 19 on Rounder Records, "Raise The Roof" has been named one of the most anticipated LPs of the fall by the New York Times, New York magazine, Entertainment Weekly and more. Like its platinum-selling 2007 predecessor, "Raising Sand" — which won six Grammys, including "Album" and "Record Of The Year" — "Raise The Roof" delivers new takes on songs from legends and unsung heroes of folk, blues, country and soul music.
"Can't Let Go" is a rendition of the Randy Weeks/Lucinda Williams classic that reaffirmed Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Plant and 27-time Grammy winner Krauss as "one of the most critically adored odd couples of music" (USA Today). As NPR Music says: "This feels like a warm welcome back from two old friends you haven't seen in a long time," and across "Raise The Roof", their voices "still fit together like a pair of dusty boots nestled atop a welcome mat" (New York Times).
"High And Lonesome" is the collection's lone original, written by Plant and T Bone Burnett, who reprises his "Raising Sand" role as the album's producer.
Recorded at Nashville's Sound Emporium Studios, sessions for "Raise The Roof" began in late 2019 and wrapped just weeks before the world went into lockdown.
"One of my favorite parts of this is the songs and songwriters that I had never heard of," says Krauss. "Working with Robert, and with T Bone, is always a great education in music history."
The rest of "Raise The Roof" includes deep cuts by Merle Haggard, Allen Toussaint, THE EVERLY BROTHERS, Anne Briggs, Geeshie Wiley, Bert Jansch, Calexico and more. "It's such a far cry from everything I've done before," says Plant. "I love the whole kaleidoscope of music that I've explored, but this is a place where you can think within the song, you can decide how to bring home an emotion. It's another blend that we've got, and long may we have more of them."
"Raise The Roof" track listing:
01. Quattro (World Drifts In)
02. The Price Of Love
03. Go Your Way
04. Trouble With My Lover
05. Searching for My Love
06. Can't Let Go

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD Shares Hospital Photos Taken During Cancer BattleJUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford has shared a couple of photos taken during his recent battle with prostate cancer.
On Saturday (October 16), Halford took to his Instagram to post two pictures of him flashing the "devil horns" while apparently lying in his hospital bed. He wrote in an accompanying message: "thanks for all the love maniacs and guys get your prostate checked #heavymetal #ink #tattoo #metal #motivation #stayhealthy #fight #nofear #no #surrender #fuckcancer #love #family #friends #fans #one #world #peace #respect #all".
Earlier this week, Halford revealed to told Consequence that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer during the pandemic. "I had my little cancer battle a year ago, which I got through and that's in remission now, thank God," he said. "That happened while we were all locked down, so things happen for a reason as far as time sequence of events. I have nothing but gratitude to be at this point in my life, still doing what I love the most."
Rob previously mentioned his cancer battle in the new chapter added to the updated paperback edition of his 2020 memoir, "Confess". According to Halford, he was diagnosed after experiencing symptoms for at least a couple of years.
"I felt a combination of shock, horror, and oddly, relief — at least now I know!…'Am I going to die?'" he wrote. " It was all I could think of. I know blokes who've died of prostate cancer. 'No, you're not going to die, Rob,' said Dr. Ali."
In July 2020, Rob underwent prostatectomy, an operation where the entire prostate gland is removed plus some of the tissue around it, including the seminal vesicles. After more cancer was found earlier this year, he went through radiation treatments in April and May and eventually got then all-clear in June. He also had an appendectomy after a tumor was discovered on his appendix.
"It's been a draining year, I can't deny it, but I'm delighted to have come through it," Halford wrote in the book, according to Consequence. "I feel like I've had the most thorough MOT that a Metal God can have."
The 70-year-old said that his outlook on his cancer battle changed after watching a commercial for the Phoenix Children's hospital. "It showed kids with cancer," he said. "Some only babies. They were lying there, with tubes coming out of them, fighting for their lives. They didn't know what was going on…It made me feel totally ashamed of myself; Rob, how dare you be so selfish? And from that second, I change my entire mental attitude towards my disease."
Halford's cancer battle is one of a number of health scares the members of PRIEST have had to deal with in recent years. Last month, guitarist Richie Faulkner suffered an acute cardiac aortic dissection during the band's performance at the Louder Than Life festival. Faulkner was rushed to the UofL Health - Jewish Hospital where the cardiothoracic surgery team needed approximately 10 hours to complete a life-saving surgery.
PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease seven years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of the band's latest album, "Firepower". He was replaced by "Firepower" producer Andy Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.
"Confess" was released in September 2020 via Hachette Books. It was written with Ian Gittins, co-writer of "The Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx.

MASTODON Drops Another New Song, 'Sickle And Peace'Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON have released a new song called "Sickle And Peace". The track is taken from MASTODON's upcoming album, "Hushed And Grim", which is due on October 29. The follow-up to 2017's "Emperor Of Sand" was recorded at West End Sound, which is located inside of Ember City, the rehearsal facility that members of MASTODON manage in Atlanta. Helming the effort was Grammy-winning producer/mixer/engineer David Bottrill, who has previously worked with MUSE, DREAM THEATER and TOOL, among many others.
The "Hushed And Grim" artwork was created by longtime MASTODON collaborator Paul Romano, who also designed the sleeves for "Crack The Skye", "Blood Mountain", "Leviathan" and more.
MASTODON drummer Brann Dailor stated about the "Hushed And Grim" cover: "Essentially, to be brief, [the tree] is an afterlife mythology that when you pass away, your spirit goes into the heart of a tree and then experiences all the pillars of your in successions of the seasons that the tree experiences. That is the way you're able to say goodbye to the natural world and move on to the next dimension. You can see a green man in the center of the tree — the heart of the tree — and that is our good friend and manager Nick John, who passed away, unfortunately, a couple of years ago [after a battle with pancreatic cancer]. [Nick] has a lot to do with the inspiration of the album, 'Hushed And Grim'."
"Hushed And Grim" track listing:
01. Pain With An Anchor
02. The Crux
03. Sickle And Peace
04. More Than I Could Chew
05. The Beast
06. Skeleton Of Splendor
07. Teardrinker
08. Pushing The Tides
09. Peace And Tranquility
10. Dagger
11. Had It All
12. Savage Lands
13. Gobblers Of Dregs
14. Eyes Of Serpents
15. Gigantium
The official Lorenzo Diego Carrera-directed music video for the disc's first single, "Pushing The Tides", can be seen below.
In a March 2021 interview with Talking Metal, MASTODON guitarist Bill Kelliher stated about working with Bottrill: "Honestly, I hadn't really heard of him before last year. We were kind of tossing around who we were gonna use for the new record. We have a couple of different producers that we like; I mean, we've liked everyone we've used in the past. But I think, with this record, we kind of were just, like, 'We might need somebody new — somebody really fresh and brand new.' And we got on the phone with David, and we had a couple of other people we had been talking to. With COVID and everything, a lot of people just weren't available or willing to come to Atlanta."
He continued: "When we got on the phone with David, he seemed like a great guy. He already had some of the demos, so he had all kinds of notes. That's what you need a producer for — someone who kind of thinks outside the box. The four of you have been playing the same songs, demoing the same songs for so long, you're kind of, like, 'Is this even good anymore? I can't really tell. Does it need something? I'm kind of lost.' It's like you can't the forest through the trees. You're, like, 'What's what? Everything's upside down.' So he came in and he was diligent. He had all kinds of notes written out. He had done his homework. And he was, like, 'For this song, I have this idea. For this song, I have these ideas.' And he kind of spouted them off to us on the phone. And I said, 'Are you willing to come to Atlanta and work with us here, sight unseen, at our studio?' And he was, like, 'As long as the studio's got the certain equipment that I need, and it's a decent-sized room and everything…' We had done a lot of other records there with other bands. And he was willing to come down."
Kelliher admitted that he initially "wasn't really into trying anything new, but the more I thought about it, I was, like, 'You know, this record is really special, and it's different, and times are different right now.'"
As it turned out, "David had a lot to do with steering the direction of a lot of the sounds and how it went, and he was a pleasure to work with," Bill said. "A couple of times a week, we talk. And he'd come over for dinner, and we'd all hang out. He's just a down-to-earth guy and very approachable."
Elaborating on Bottrill's approach in the studio, Kelliher said: "I think 90 percent of being a good producer is really having a degree in psychology, almost. 'Cause when you're dealing with fragile egos… We're band guys, we're musicians, we pour our heart and soul into a musical riff, and it really means a lot to us. It's just heartbreaking if somebody's, like, 'I don't like that riff. That riff sucks. That's not gonna be in the song.' You can't say that. You have to circumvent the obvious, like, 'Man up and get rid of that riff. Write something better.' And that was one of my first questions: 'How do you deal with if there's certain people in the band that might be more sensitive than others?' And he's, like, 'I've worked with so and so and so and so.' He's, like, 'I'm just a big fan of your band, and I just wanna make your best record that we set out to make.' And he just had a really good way with words without insulting anybody's creativeness. He was firm. And we basically tried everything. He said, 'I don't have a problem with trying anything at all. If you're gonna do it, do it with gusto and just go for it and try it. If someone [goes], 'Hey, I wanna try to sing here,' 'Hey, I wanna try to play a solo here,' hey, let's try it. Maybe it doesn't fit, but we never know until we try it. So we all just kind of [went into it] with open minds, and the result is amazing. It's the fullest-, biggest-sounding record we've done so far."
Dailor told Full Metal Jackie's syndicated radio show that he and his bandmates wrote more than two albums' worth of material in the months leading up to the recording sessions for the new LP.
MASTODON's latest rarities collection titled "Medium Rarities", was released in September 2020. The compilation includes a new song called "Fallen Torches" as well as a bevy of classic covers, soundtrack contributions, instrumentals, B-sides, and live recordings on one complete package for the very first time.
"Emperor Of Sand" debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. That LP was nominated for the 2018 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album," and its opening track, "Sultan's Curse", won the Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance."
Last year, MASTODON wrote and recorded a new song called "Rufus Lives" for inclusion in the latest "Bill & Ted Face The Music" movie. 5

PAUL MCCARTNEY To Induct FOO FIGHTERS Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAMEThe Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has revealed an initial list of all-star presenters and performers who will take the stage during the 36th annual induction ceremony on October 30 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Limited tickets are on sale now, including newly released production holds.
Initial lineup of special guests include:
* Angela Bassett inducting Tina Turner, with performances by Christina Aguilera, Mickey Guyton, H.E.R. and Bryan Adams
* Taylor Swift inducting Carole King, with performances by Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson
* Drew Barrymore inducting THE GO-GO'S
* Paul McCartney inducting FOO FIGHTERS
* Lionel Richie inducting Clarence Avant for the Ahmet Ertegun Award
This year's inductees are: Tina Turner, Carole King, THE GO-GO'S, Jay-Z, FOO FIGHTERS and Todd Rundgren in the Performer category, along with KRAFTWERK, Charley Patton and Gil Scott-Heron for Early Influence, LL Cool J, Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads for Musical Excellence, and Clarence Avant for the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
The ceremony will air on November 20 on HBO and stream on HBO Max alongside a radio simulcast on SiriusXM Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Radio (310) and Volume (106).
Ballots were sent to an international voting body of more than 1,200 artists, including current living Inductees, historians and members of the music industry. Factors such as an artist's musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.
FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl was previously inducted into the Rock Hall as part of NIRVANA in 2014.
Rhoads is one of the most influential hard rock/heavy metal guitarists of all time.
The OZZY OSBOURNE and QUIET RIOT axeman and two others were killed on March 19, 1982 when the small plane they were flying in at Flying Baron Estates in Leesburg, Florida struck Osbourne's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion. Rhoads was 25 years old.
The Musical Excellence Award is given to artists, musicians, songwriters and producers whose originality and influence creating music have had a dramatic impact on music.
Even though artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single, iconic hard rock and metal groups like MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and MOTÖRHEAD have yet to be recognized by the institution, which inducted GUNS N' ROSES in that band's first year of eligibility.
Rock Hall rules state that artists become eligible a quarter century after their first records were released, but the Hall also claims that other "criteria include the influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock 'n' roll," which is, of course, open to interpretation.
Eligible for induction since 1999, KISS didn't get its first nomination until 2009, and was finally inducted in 2014.
DEEP PURPLE was eligible for the Rock Hall since 1993 but didn't get inducted until 2016.

“We're very excited to be back out in the road again this fall. It’s a time of transformation on our planet and our lives in preparation for the rebirth of the approaching solstice. We're grateful to share this Initiation with all you Spiritual Soldiers on the frontline helping to bring music back to this fucked up world,” says Gemini Syndrome vocalist Aaron Nordstrom.
Drummer Brian Steele Medina continues, “We love nothing more than performing and creating a sacred space for transmutation with our brothers and sisters. Now more than ever, it feels like everything is trying to pull us apart and perpetuate the illusion that we are separate. That we are not ONE. It's all bullshit. THE DARKNESS Premier Music Video For New Single "It's Love, Jim"The Darkness - frontman/guitarist Justin Hawkins, guitarist/producer Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain, drummer Rufus Taylor - will release their new album, Motorheart, on November 19 via Cooking Vinyl. A video for the new single, "It's Love, Jim", is available for streaming below.
“It’s Love, Jim” is an all-out, high intensity, rock ‘n’ roll barrage. The video reflects the unimaginable effects of an intimate encounter of the alien kind. It captures archive footage of the band conducting a séance as a yearning otherworldly spirit unleashes its inescapable powers through Justin, Dan, Rufus and Frankie, as well as some unsuspecting cattle outside.
Justin says, “This song (herein referred to as “she/her”) is all about an extra-terrestrial goddess of other worldly beauty. She’s fast, powerful, not of this earth. Her sensual symphony nestles in your ear and lays mind eggs that seep confidence liquid into your brains. You’ll feel invincible all day long, and everything will go right after you hear it. Yeah, so it’s really catchy and should be number 1 all around the world please.”

Motorheart is a record of immeasurable rock and roll extravagance and yet another masterpiece from England’s favorite rock icons. Album pre-orders are available at the band’s official store, here
Paying homage to a devoted sex robot named Motorheart, the album growls, pounds and stomps with Rufus Taylor’s drums, Frankie Poullain’s bass and Justin & Dan Hawkins’ guitars all turned up to 11, whilst Justin’s trademark vocals soar to ever more earthquaking levels. Drop the needle anywhere on Motorheart and be instantly transported from this moaning and weeping vale of tears to Elysian fields of rock where all hands are raised, the drinks - just as in the Club Tropicana of yore - are free, and everyone wears a pleasingly salacious grin. Does it rock? Is the sun hot? Has your partner’s touch grown cold? The Darkness are the Orwellian boot stamping on the flaccid face of limp rock, forever!
Motorheart tracklisting:
"Welcome Tae Glasgae"
"It’s Love, Jim"
"Motorheart"
"The Power And The Glory Of Love"
"Jussy’s Girl"
"Sticky Situations"
"Nobody Can See Me Cry"
"Eastbound"
"Speed Of The Nite Time"
"You Don’t Have To Be Crazy About Me… But It Helps" *
"It’s A Love Thang (You Wouldn’t Understand)" *
"So Long" *

DRACONIAN To Reissue Where Lovers Mourn And Arcane Rain Fell Albums In DecemberSwedish doom/gothic union, Draconian, will release the atmospheric reissues of their guiding full-lengths Where Lovers Mourn (2003) and Arcane Rain Fell (2005) on vinyl on December 17 via Napalm Records.
The Scandinavians’ 2003 album, Where Lovers Mourn, marked a memorable debut filled with stunning atmosphere of unease and sadness. The eight compositions offer melancholic, plaintive guitar melodies and a dark yet melodic male vocal alternating between aggression and chanting in contrast with the angelic voice of former vocalist Lisa Johansson. Their first offering also doesn't shy away from extended-length tracks. In addition, there is a wealth of variety in terms of peaceful piano parts, subtle string inserts, folk interjections and orchestral passages giving the gothic/doom influenced piece of art a flair all its own.
The second studio-album, Arcane Rain Fell, proudly builds upon the Swedish unit’s first creation. With a musically darker and also heavier opus, Draconian venture into poetic lyrical landscapes. A major part of this new lightness is due to a noticeable reduction of the keyboard bombast and above all the poetically inspired lyrics, presented in a both beautiful and dark vocal duet, which takes the listener into a world of sound equally as sorrowful as it is beautiful. The re-issue promises an eerily beautiful atmosphere, full of dark romance as if made for cold winter evenings.

Anders Jacobsson and Johan Ericsson add: “Our debut album Where Lovers Mourn shows a broad variety of influences, from doom to folk music, all with the gothic vibe that followed us from our first demo. It mostly consisted of reworked material from our demo, Dark Oceans We Cry, released the year prior. You can hear still hear traces of this era in our most recent works. With Arcane Rain Fell we cemented our sound and took a big step with our song writing. It’s very dear to us and our fans, still to this day. Lyrically it was a continuation of the Luciferian influence starting with our 1999 demo A Closed Eyes of Paradise.”
Where Lovers Mourn will be available as 2LP Gatefold in marbled silver/black and Arcane Rain Fell enchants as 2 LP Gatefold in marbled green transparent/black, each limited to 500 copies worldwide.
Pre-order your copies here.

BREED OF AGGRESSION Announce Debut Album, This Is My War; "Unmasked" Single Streaming; "The Talent Is Surely There," Says Former BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTINBreed Of Aggression was born out of Scott McClellan and Susie Hoffman Beahm's shared goal to create extreme metal that is organic, free, and without defining limits to their sound. Their first album, This Is My War, exemplifies that approach, delivering eight intense tracks produced by Destrophy frontman and guitarist, Ari Mihalopoulos, that boldly announce the arrival of this dynamic duo.
This Is My War will be released worldwide on Dark Star Records on November 5. Pre-order here, and listen to the first single, "Unmasked", below.
Tony Martin, former Black Sabbath lead singer on Breed Of Aggression: "Susie sings really well and the talent is surely there, the tracks that stand out for me are 'Unmasked' and 'I Am The Enemy'."

Susie Hoffman Beham discusses making the album: "This album has been two years in the making and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in its creation. The landscape Scott painted allowed me to open my mind and create something that came organically and without boundaries."
Scott McClellan talking about meeting Susie: "I had been writing a metal album & was in search of a singer for it for a while, Through mutual friends I was introduced to Susie, I asked her to audition, the 1st song I was completely blown away by her power! I was not looking for a female vocalist for this album, when I had heard her voice, my opinion was changed right away, her skill stands out like no other in both male and female metal singers, that being said Breed Of Aggression was born."
Hailing from the Midwest, Breed Of Aggression is a new heavy metal project founded by Scott McClellan and Susie Hoffman Beahm.
An accomplished guitarist and songwriter, Scott McClellan's solo album Brutal Intentions was released on Dark Star Records in 2019. He is the featured guitarist on ex-Black Sabbath frontman Tony Martin’s forthcoming solo album Thorns, set for 2022 release

THE UNITY Featuring GAMMA RAY, PRIMAL FEAR Members Release "Close To Crazy" (Live) Video Featuring German Comedian SASCHA GRAMMELFans of the German puppet comedy superstar, Sascha Grammel, have known for a while now: The likable ventriloquist from Spandau and proud creator of puppets and audience favorites such as eagle pheasant Frederic Freiherr von Furchensumpf, turtle lady Josie or ecotrophologist Professor Dr. Peter Hacke, is always good for a surprise.
Grammel swears by the music of German metal band The Unity to motivate him during fitness workouts. Apparently, his favorite track to sweat, cycle, run and lift weights along is "Close To Crazy". But that's not all! Grammel and his endearingly eccentric puppet flatmate now appear in The Unity’s latest video - and you can see they’re enjoying every second of it.
Referring to the unusual song title, Grammel's alter ego Frederic quizzes his boss in the video intro: “Did you write this song?” And counters Grammel's honest denial with, “But it would’ve been very fitting! You're close to crazy too!”

"Close To Crazy" (Live) is the forerunner to The Unity’s new live album‚ The Devil You Know - Live, which is due for release by Steamhammer/SPV on November 12, and includes recordings of concert highlights from their tours of Germany and several European countries between 2017 and 2020.
The accompanying video shows The Unity as comrades in arms with the two Gamma Ray members Henjo Richter (guitar) and Michael Ehré (drums, Primal Fear), alongside bandmates Gianbattista Manenti (vocals), Stef E (guitar), Jogi Sweers (bass) and Sascha Onnen (keyboards) at the Masters Of Rock Festival in the Czech Republic, where the band, as always, managed to thrill fans and critics alike.
The band will also be back on stage for the big release party of The Devil You Know - Live on December 25 & 26 at the Jahnhalle in Nordenham, Germany. Additional shows, festival appearances, and tours throughout Europe are also scheduled for 2022. And, who knows, you may even spot Sascha Grammel with his puppet family in the audience at one gig or another. Like all the best fans, they’re close to crazy, after all.
The Devil You Know - Live was recorded between 2017 and 2020 during tours through Germany and a number of other European countries, at shows in small, overheated clubs with sweat dripping from the walls, but also at big festivals such as the Masters Of Rock in the Czech Republic and in Germany at the Karlsruhe Knockout Festival and the Bang Your Head in Balingen. The tracklisting focuses on material from their albums The Unity (2017) and Rise (2018), but in We Don't Need Them Here also includes the single release
