Part two of a trilogy, Ylem builds upon the concept and lyrical theme of the band's independently released debut album, Urraca, by reinforcing the mysticism of the previous album while exploring new themes of displacement, fear, wonder, and transcendence. With the addition of a new drummer and an evolving approach to songwriting, Sunless further develops their signature sound with increasingly diverse, dense, and technical offerings.
Best consumed whole, the experience of Ylem is as harrowing as it is satisfying, one rife with dissonant melodies and complex rhythmic structures, certain to leave an indelible mark on the listener's psyche.

K.K. DOWNING On KK'S PRIEST's Songwriting Approach: 'If I Think It's Good, Then It Goes On The Record'In an October 1 interview with Headbangers News, K.K. Downing spoke about the differences between his songwriting approach in KK'S PRIEST and the way he used to collaborate with Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton in JUDAS PRIEST. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Now I prefer — I actually prefer to be able to, if I think it's good, then it goes on the record. If I think it's bad, it doesn't go on the record. I prefer to ask myself, not have a consideration from other people.
"I'm very proud of everything I did as a writing team with Glenn and Rob — extremely proud of it — but I like this, if I'm honest. I prefer it this way, because I just feel as though I'm the loyal metal PRIEST," he explained. "I'm a hundred percent true to this music. And I don't care what people say about this. I know that the fans, we are the same. I don't care what people say. I really feel one with the fans because we've had such a great relationship for so long.
"I think this is important to me, to be able to do this," Downing added. "And I'm already well on the way with the [second KK'S PRIEST] record, and it's sounding good — it's really sounding good as a continuation to 'Sermons Of The Sinner'. The story continues of KK'S PRIEST in the way that I think it should. And I like it. So I'm really, really happy about it. And I'm really happy now. The record's gonna be released today and tomorrow, and we can change our focus to getting everything ready for some live shows — the production, putting the setlist together, rehearsing the songs. 'Cause it's gonna happen — it will happen."
Downing is joined in KK'S PRIEST by former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals), along with guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).
KK'S PRIEST's debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", was released on October 1 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
Downing spent four months writing and recording "Sermons Of The Sinner" and, along with new ideas, he even resurrected a few archived riffs from the '80s.
K.K. formed KK'S PRIEST after JUDAS PRIEST turned down his offer to rejoin the band for their 50th-anniversary tour. It followed a couple of celebrated stage appearances, first with former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss in the summer of 2019, then with a one-off lineup that included former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and former PRIEST drummer Les Binks later that year.

WHITECHAPEL Share "A Bloodsoaked Symphony" Guitar Playthrough VideoOn October 29, Whitechapel will release their new album, Kin, via Metal Blade Records. The band recently released an emotionally-charged, disturbing video for new single, "A Bloodsoaked Symphony" (directed by David Brodsky) which can be viewed at the bottom of the page. A guitar playthrough of the song can be viewed below.:
At this stage in the game, the name Whitechapel commands respect. Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, in 2019 they dropped The Valley, showcasing a confident evolution in their sound and standing as a true landmark release that sets a new standard for the genre. "To me, it was like the stars aligning for us to create our almost perfect record in regard to songwriting, vocal performance, the mix and master, and the artwork," says guitarist Alex Wade. "We like to look at our albums as chapters of our career, and that is one chapter I will never forget. I think it really solidified that we can embrace a new sound, and if we execute it properly, then the fanbase is going to support and enjoy it." In 2021, they return with that album's successor, the mighty Kin, which is an even more dynamic and diverse collection, further advancing the band's sound into new territory without losing sight of what brought them to this point. "I feel with every album, we learn what worked best on the last one and try to utilize that in our writing. Early in the writing, there was some discussion of the album being like 'The Valley' part II, not literally called that, but in how the songs sound and flow through it. It's very much a storytelling type record like 'The Valley' was," adds vocalist Phil Bozeman, "Musically, we just want to create what we vibe with at the given moment. We write music with how we feel and not what is expected of us, while lyrically the idea of continuing from the story of 'The Valley' was always the goal."
window._taboola = window._taboola || [];

mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',

});
The resulting record explores a lot of sonic and emotional territory, and for the first time, it could be said that a Whitechapel record is as much a rock album as it is a metal one, an assertion Wade agrees with. "It's still very much a metal album, but there are elements of the record that have more of a rock and open vibe. We really wanted these songs to breathe and have life and to sound bigger than anything we've made so far. We have explored more singing on 'Kin' too. It wouldn't make sense to have the majority of the fanbase enjoy that sound and then shy away from it." This is not to say that the band have lost their hardest edges, with the full-on death metal assault that kicks off both "Lost Boy" and "To The Wolves" as brutal and serrated as extreme metal gets, and while Bozeman explores his wide-ranging singing voice more, he also cuts loose with his trademark roar across the album's eleven tracks.
Tracking of Kin was predominantly done at guitarist Zach Householder's home studio with producer Mark Lewis producing his fifth straight Whitechapel album, making for a very comfortable working environment. "Creating records with him has an effortless flow to it, and we can track things pretty quickly and efficiently these days," says Wade. "Mark has a great ear for giving us unique and complementary guitar and drum tones for the songs we are trying to record." The tracks were then sent off to David Castillo at Ghostward Studios in Sweden for mixing, with Ted Jensen mastering it in Nashville, TN. Now, having another album they can be as proud of as its predecessor, it stands them in good stead as they look toward the future. "I see more growth and a limitless potential," says Wade. "I think we found a great formula on 'The Valley', and we used that to create another monumental record for our career that I can't wait for people to hear. We hope to continue to grow our fanbase with this new album, and always seek to move in a positive direction. I'm excited as the pandemic lessens for the touring world to come back to life and to be able to perform these massive songs we have created in the manner they were meant to be heard - live and loud."

Hear JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD Guest On New Single From BAD PENNY, 'Push Comes To Shove'JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford is the latest legend to sign on to front a single from the rock supergroup BAD PENNY, which features former QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS bassist Danny Miranda, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT drummer Jules Radino and guitar virtuoso/songwriter Mike Holtzman. BAD PENNY's previous releases feature former JOURNEY lead singer Steve Augeri and QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Todd La Torre.
Halford took time prior to rehearsals for JUDAS PRIEST's most recent tour to drop the vocals to the BAD PENNY's "Push Comes To Shove", a metallic, Arabic-tinged track featuring a syncopated guitar-drum battery. The track has just been released and can be streamed below.
"This song just grabbed me," Halford said. "It's mysterious, dark, and sexy." New York-based metal singer Militia Vox, who has been dubbed one of the greatest female rock vocalists of her generation, rounds out a powerhouse duet.
"Danny and I came up with the music and melody for this one," said Holtzman. "We knew we had something special… these exotic world-music elements, the inner dialogue, the heavy groove…it just needed extraordinary voices to bring it home. We are thrilled Rob and Militia agreed to sing it. They absolutely killed it."
After scoring radio hits with their debut singles, the bluesy rocker "Voices In My Head" (sung by La Torre) and the power ballad "Lose Myself" (sung by Augeri), BAD PENNY took a turn towards classic metal with "The Mirror Lies", again featuring La Torre on vocals. "Push Comes To Shove" delves further into dark and heavy territory.
"The object of this band is to tap into sounds and genres we love, and not to pigeon-hole ourselves as this-or-that," said Holtzman. "We want to keep ourselves and our listeners surprised and challenged. There are a few more cool twists and turns ahead."

DEFORMATORY – “Within The Astral Abscess” Guitar Playthrough Video StreamingCanadian death metal duo Deformatory, helmed by Charlie Leduc (Guitars & Vocals) and Neil Grandy (Drums) recently unleashed their third full-length, Inversion Of The Unseen Horizon. This newest death metal offering contains nine relentlessly brutal tracks wrapped in a beautifully complex concept, designed to overwhelm and entice the senses.
Today, in support of the record, guitarist Charlie Leduc is giving a behind-the-scenes look at his guitar prowess with a new playthrough for the album's opening track “Within The Astral Abscess”.

Leducs adds about the track:
"‘Within The Astral Abscess’ is such a fun and relentless song to play. It's got a little bit of everything tossed into it, mostly because it was written in a single-take jam session. There's just no stopping the energy that comes through when smashing these riffs out. The unorthodox song structure and variations in the vibe throughout the track makes it a perfect warm-up song and one hell of an album opener."
This concept album is nine, blistering, brutal tracks that continue where Deformatory’s 2016 album Malediction left off. The band explains the album and the single “Deciphering The Archetype” in their own words:
“The album tells us of how the Ce’naxors began and the ominous landscape of their home planet, Cyru’xil, revealing their Arkitekt’s grand scheme for multiversal decimation and atomical Consumption. The Unseen Horizon is their planet, their beings and their plan. The Inversion intimates it coming into view, from an otherwise hidden perspective. Through the single, witness the first glimpses of Xuul ‘Ka as it breaches the atmosphere, causing a whirlwind of meteorological events. Through the portal, the clouds dissipate, and Cyru’xil comes into view, along with the Grand Arkitekt, and the Cenaxors.”
Fans that are itching for more after this full-length won’t have too long to wait. Deformatory says they are already four songs deep into the new album, so listeners can expect more brutality sooner than they would hope for.
Inversion Of The Unseen Horizon was released on September 3. Order on Bandcamp.

BURNING POINT Shares Brand New Song FromUpcoming Album "Arsonist Of The Soul"Following their latest, much acclaimed album, The Blaze (2016), Finland’s melodic heavy and power metal force BURNING POINT is gearing up for the release of their forthcoming, eight studio album; Arsonist Of The Soul will be out on October 22, 2021 through AFM Records.
For more than two decades of existence, mastermind/guitarist/songwriter Pete Ahonen always kept the ship on route, his clear vision and artistic integrity made BURNING POINT one of the most reliable purveyors of excellent classic power and heavy metal. After handling the vocals on his own from the band’s foundation in 1999 up until the arrival of Nitte Valo (ex-Battle Beast) in 2015, on their upcoming album BURNING POINT introduces their new vocalist Luca Sturniolo. Replacing Valo, Sturniolo turns out to be quite a discovery; his powerful, varied vocals perfectly match with Ahonen’s fiery fretwork and strong, experienced songwriting. Besides Ahonen, Sturniolo and Pekka Kolivuori, now bassist Jarkko Poussu (ex-member of Finnish thrash pioneers A.R.G.), Tuomas Jaatinen on drums and Matti Halonen (Keyboards) have joined BURNING POINT.
"I am extremely happy about the new line-up and the new record. All the guys are very, very talented and excited!“, Ahonen recently said. But give ear, after previously- released singles, Blast In The Past as well as the blistering album title track ( Listen HERE! ), today BURNING POINT have unleashed another killer appetizer taken from Arsonist Of The Soul, as their new single "Hit The Night" has just been premiered!
"Musically it's a great mix of Judas Priest (Painkiller era) with a huge stadionsize chorus you can pump your fist and bang your head!" Says Pete about the new song. Vocalist Luca adds: "The night is normally the moment when people go out to have fun, escaping from the avarage life, the cage where they are prisoned doing most of the times a job they don't like to make out their living, so hit the night regenerate your soul till the morning light."

DAVID LEE ROTH Says He Is 'Retiring' After Las Vegas Residency: 'These Are My Last Five Shows'VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth will retire after the last concert of his Las Vegas residency in January. "I'm throwing in the shoes," Roth told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday (August 1). "I'm retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement. … You've got the news. Share it with the world."
He added: "I'm not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows."
Roth also reflected on the passing of his longtime bandmate, legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen, who died of cancer a year ago.
"I thought I might have been the first, frankly," Roth said. "I might have thought the Marlboro Man would've got me. Hey, Ed, objects in the rear-view mirror are probably me. And my doctors, my handlers, compelled me to really address that every time I go on stage, I endanger that future.
"I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter," he added.
Roth will return to at Mandalay Bay's House Of Blues in Las Vegas for a new series of shows that will kick off with a New Year's Eve performance, followed by four concerts in January 2022.
"I know that when I am in the audience, whether you come out with a ukulele or a marching band, all I ask you give me everything you've got to give," he said. "That’s what I did for the last 50 years. I've given you all I've got to give.
"It's been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I'll miss you all. Stay frosty."
In March 2020, Roth postponed the final six shows of his Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus pandemic that is spreading across the globe.
Roth's latest Vegas residency kicked off on January 8, 2020 with a 15-song set that included 10 VAN HALEN classics and five songs from his solo career. Backing the now-66-year-old singer were lead guitarist Al Estrada from the VAN HALEN tribute band ERUPTION, rhythm guitarist Frankie Lindri, bassist Ryan Wheeler, keyboardist Danny Wagner and drummer Mike Mussleman.
Roth explained that he chose Vegas as the place to debut his new band because "this is where you come to celebrate and do the victory dance, whatever that means to you."
In February/March 2020, Roth performed as the opening act for the North American leg of KISS's "End Of The Road" farewell tour.
Roth's 2020 Vegas residency wasn't the first time he had set up shop in Sin City. Back in 1995, Roth completed a Las Vegas engagement at Bally's Hotel and Casino and another short run at MGM Gr 7

Longtime CIRCLE JERKS Bassist ZANDER SCHLOSS Announces Debut Solo Album, 'Songs About Songs'Longtime CIRCLE JERKS bassist Zander Schloss is starting a new chapter in his musical career with the release of his first solo recording, "Song About Songs", from Blind Owl Records. Along with the announcement, Schloss has shared the lead single and title track along with an accompanying music video.
As veteran Los Angeles music journalist and critic Chris Morris writes in the album's liner notes: "Played tenderly, with a striking intimacy, the subtle and affecting material on 'Song About Songs' may well come as a surprise to listeners who know Zander Schloss only from three decades of bash-it-out work with the CIRCLE JERKS and other punk units… Here, we get a long-overdue look at a hitherto unheard side of his musical personality. It bears the thrill of discovery."
Schloss has an impressive résumé that includes his featured acting performance alongside Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez in Alex Cox's 1984 cult classic feature "Repo Man"; work on the soundtracks for Cox's later films "Sid & Nancy", "Straight To Hell", "Walker"; and "Highway Patrolman". He is well known as touring musical director and guitarist for Joe Strummer of THE CLASH, with performances on Strummer's first solo single 'Trash City' and album 'Earthquake Weather'. He also has appearances on record with LOW & SWEET ORCHESTRA, MAGNIFICENT BASTARDS, THELONIOUS MONSTER and in concert with THE WEIRDOS. In 2021-22, he will be seen on stage during the CIRCLE JERKS' pandemic-delayed 40th-anniversary tour.
But "Song About Songs", which features the Los Angeles-based performer as singer, guitarist, and writer of nine striking original compositions, displays a revelatory new aspect of his work. It will surprise listeners accustomed to hearing Schloss in an aggressive hardcore format, but the St. Louis-born musician notes that his early musical inspirations came from a distinctly different realm.
"When I was 12 years old," he says, "I made enough money as a janitor in a candy factory to buy my first guitar. I drew a picture of myself as Bob Dylan on the cover of Nashville Skyline. I bought the harmonica holder, the harmonica, my guitar, and Bob Dylan's book 'Writings And Drawings', his first collection of lyrics, and I learned that album in its entirety, by ear. To me, those songs were tidy and they were concise. They were great examples of what a songwriter could do in two or three minutes.
"Everybody always used to make fun of me because I was a muso. I'd studied Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and Neil Young and all of those guys back when I was a kid. Then I moved out to California and sunk my teeth into Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page and became a rocker. Then in my last year of high school I started listening to Charlie Parker and John Coltrane, moved in with my jazz teacher for a year and became a jazz guy."
Due in early 2022, "Song About Songs" was recorded at Los Angeles's Sargent Recorders, owned by producer and fellow Missouri native Gus Seyffert, who also plays bass on the collection; Seyffert has worked with Roger Waters, Norah Jones, Beck, and the BLACK KEYS, among others. The emerging singer-songwriter Bedouine guests as vocalist on the track "I Have Loved The Story Of My Life".
As Schloss sees it, the title track of "Song About Songs" typifies the overall approach on this intensely moving solo bow: "I've asked myself many times, who are you, Zander, and what do you want to do? These songs were written for my own therapy. I hope that this music would help people transcend their own sadness through the power of music and into a healing place. I have a huge amount of reverence for music and its healing powers. I obviously have songs that have saved my life.
"This is my polar opposite version of punk rock. Punk rock is volume and anger and speed. I wanted to do space and vulnerability and excruciating, almost subconscious emotions, things that I feel so deeply that I would never say them out loud."
"Songs About Songs" track listing:
01. My Dear Blue
02. Not So Long Ago
03. Sin Of Wasting Time
04. Old Cliches & Diamond Rings
05. Dead Friend Letter
06. I Have Loved The Story Of My Life (featuring Bedouine)
07. The Road
08. Married To Sadness
09. Songs About Songs
Schloss will also be touring with the CIRCLE JERKS for their 40th-anniversary tour which kicks off in October and continues into 2022.

WOLFGANG VAN HALEN Performs 'Paradise City' With GUNS N' ROSES (Video)Wolfgang Van Halen joined GUNS N' ROSES onstage last night (Saturday, October 2) at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida to perform "Paradise City". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below. The concert was part of GUNS N' ROSES' U.S. tour which kicked off in late July, with Wolfgang's solo band MAMMOTH WVH providing support on all dates.
In a recent interview with AL.com, Wolfgang stated about sharing the stage with GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash every night: "I love just watching him and how effortless he makes it seem, everything he does. It's always fun to just watch somebody like that do their thing, because you never really get to see it much and so being able to see it every night, it's a treat, for sure."
A couple of months ago, Wolfgang told Ultimate Classic Rock that GUNS singer Axl Rose had hugged him when they first met. "He told me that he really liked [the MAMMOTH WVH song] 'Don't Back Down' and that he really liked the video. I couldn't believe it. He was a really sweet guy. The other day, Duff [McKagan] came to our dressing room and he's a sweetheart as well. He was telling us how Axl said that 'Don't Back Down' is just straight fuckin' rock and roll, and I thought that was the biggest compliment I could have heard. It still feels like a dream."
MAMMOTH WVH's tour as the support act for GUNS N' ROSES is scheduled to conclude tonight (Sunday, October 3) with the second of a two-night run at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
MAMMOTH WVH's touring lineup features Wolfgang on guitar and lead vocals, Frank Sidoris (SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS) on guitar, Jon Jourdan on guitar and vocals, Garrett Whitlock (TREMONTI) on drums, and Ronnie Ficarro on bass.
MAMMOTH WVH's self-titled debut album was released on June 11 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
The band made its television debut in February, performing "Distance" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and running through an exclusive acoustic arrangement on "Today".

Watch VINCE NEIL Perform MÖTLEY CRÜE Classics At 'Acura Grand Prix Of Long Beach'MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil rocked the 2021 Acura Grand Prix Of Long Beach when he headlined the event's Saturday night, September 25 concert presented by Acura and ASM Global.
The show took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the plaza in front of the Long Beach Performing Arts Center adjacent to the Long Beach Convention Center and was free to Saturday race ticket holders. Space at the plaza was limited and was made available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
When Neil's participation in the event was first announced, he said in a statement: "I am very excited to be returning to perform at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. I had an awesome experience last time in 2015 and I’m honored to be invited back. As it is well known to many, I have been involved in the racing world my whole life. So when you mix racing and rock and roll into one event, I'm in heaven! My band and I are looking forward to an energetic and exciting show performing all the hits. I am certain a good time will be had by all. See you there!"
Last month, Vince revealed that he was trying out a new toning machine in an apparent effort to get in shape for MÖTLEY CRÜE's upcoming "The Stadium Tour". The singer said he was using Emsculpt Neo, a revolutionary new treatment which supposedly builds muscle and reduces fat using both radio frequency and high-intensity electromagnetic energies.
Four months ago, Neil made headlines when he struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the May 29 gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn't performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CANDLEMASS Pays Tribute To TROUBLE's ERIC WAGNER With Cover Of 'The Tempter' (Audio)Swedish doom legends CANDLEMASS have paid tribute to late TROUBLE singer Eric Wagner with a newly recorded cover version of the TROUBLE classic "The Tempter".
CANDLEMASS shared a link to the YouTube upload of its rendition of "The Tempter" on social media and wrote in an accompanying message: "Here's our homage to our friend and hero Eric Wagner (TROUBLE/THE SKULL) who sadly died some time ago, way too soon! This is for you Eric, R.I.P."
Eric, who was TROUBLE's original singer, died in August after a battle with COVID pneumonia. He was 62 years old.
According to Wagner's TROUBLE and THE SKULL bandmate Ron Holzner, Eric was generally opposed to institutionalized medicine but he wouldn't make an exception for the COVID vaccine.
"We argued about it, and he stood his ground on the matter," Holzner told the Chicago Reader. "I always joked, 'The World According To Eric Wagner — you should write a book.' He lived his life his way."
Wagner, who smoked cigarettes and occasionally drank and vaped, had health issues, but had begun taking better care of himself and switching to a plant-based diet, Holzner said.
Ron also confirmed that Eric recently completed work on a solo album. "It will be released in 2022," he said. "I played on three songs, as well as members of his bands BLACKFINGER and LID and TROUBLE alumni Sean McAllister, Dave Snyder, and Chuck Robinson — as well as former PENTAGRAM guitarist Victor Griffin."
Less than a week before Wagner's death, his bandmates in THE SKULL went public with the fact that he was infected by the novel coronavirus.
Unvaccinated people, like Wagner was, are far more likely to be hospitalized or die from COVID-19 than people who are fully vaccinated.
According to a study released in August by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unvaccinated people are also nearly five times more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than people who got the shots.
Infectious disease experts have said that large-scale outbreaks among unvaccinated people are being fueled by the highly contagious delta variant.
TROUBLE formed in 1979 and released several classic albums like "Trouble", "Manic Frustration" and "Plastic Green Head".
Wagner left TROUBLE in April 2008, citing his disdain for the touring life as the main reason for his departure.
Eric was one of the guest singers on Dave Grohl's (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS) heavy metal side project PROBOT, whose 2004 album featured heavy metal vocalists from the '80s and '90s.
Last year, TROUBLE partnered with Hammerheart Records to re-release the legendary doom legends' entire musical catalog, in addition to their upcoming album. This partnership that will see the distribution of the band's entire library of music that spans over three decades. 1

KORN: 'Every Album, Every Song' Book Due in NovemberA new book delving into every song in KORN's extensive back catalogue will be released on November 25 via Sonicbond Publishing.
From Bakersfield, California, KORN launched itself on an unsuspecting world with its eponymous self-titled debut album in 1994, with tracks such as "Blind" and "Clown" laying the early foundations for what would become the "nu metal" movement. In 1998, the quintet's third album, "Follow The Leader" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and subsequently sold over ten million copies worldwide, and in the U.S. it was certified five times platinum. Just over a year later, fourth album "Issues" sold a staggering 575,000 copies in its first week of release and beat Dr. Dre's "2001" and Celine Dion's "All The Way…A Decade of Song" to the coveted No. 1 spot on Billboard's biggest mainstream album chart.
Combining a ferocious assault of heavy metal which incorporated elements of hip-hop, groove, and a whole lot more, KORN debuted with the lineup of Jonathan Davis (vocals), Brian "Head" Welch (guitar), James "Munky" Shaffer (guitar), Regi "Fieldy" Arvizu (bass) and David Silveria (drums), the only change today seeing Ray Luzier now performing the drums.
The band has released thirteen studio albums since their 1993 formation, the latest being 2019's critically acclaimed "The Nothing". Having sold over 40 million records worldwide, songs such as "Freak On A Leash", "Got The Life", "Falling Away From Me" and "Here to Stay" have been firmly etched in heavy metal folklore.
Written by British author Matt Karpe, "Korn: Every Album, Every Song" begins with the band's "Neidermayer's Mind" demo from 1993, which was produced by a then-unknown Ross Robinson, and goes all the way up to and including "The Nothing" in 2019. Dissecting the structure of the songs as well as going into detail on the stories behind the lyrics and subject matter, Karpe leaves no stone unturned as he digs deep to cover not only every album track, but also B-sides, standalone singles, unreleased material, and songs which have only ever featured on movie and gaming soundtracks. Also acting as a detailed biography of KORN's career and each of the band members, this book is a must have for all KORN fans.
Karpe is a music journalist, and author. Earlier in 2021 he released the book "Nu Metal: A Definitive Guide", his fourth book overall, which documented the whole movement and featured exclusive interviews with members of bands such as COAL CHAMBER, NONPOINT, SNOT, SPINESHANK, STAIND, TAPROOT, and record producer extraordinaire Ross Robinson. He is based in Cambridgeshire, in the U.K.
"Korn: Every Album, Every Song" will be released in the U.K. on November 25, and then America and the rest of the world on January 28, 2022. You can pre-order the book now via Amazon, as well as through the likes of Barnes & Noble and Walmart (U.S.), plus Waterstones and WH Smith (U.K.). 1

RONNIE ATKINS Releases 4 More Shots (The Acoustics) EP; "Carry Me Over" Song StreamingDanish vocalist Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids, Nordic Union) has released his new EP, 4 More Shots (The Acoustics). The EP consists of one unreleased studio track, "Carry Me Over", and three acoustic tracks. All three acoustic tracks, "When Dreams Are Not Enough", "One Shot'" (Orchestra Version), were originally available as bonus tracks in Japan with the album One Shot.
"Carry Me Over" is available for streaming below. Order/save the EP on CD & Digital here. Please note, the CD version of the EP is available exclusively from the Frontiers EU and U.S. webstores and is limited to 500 copies worldwide.
“'Carry Me Over” was in fact the first song I wrote after I was told my cancer was back in March 2020. It was written when I hit rock bottom mentally and emotionally and in a very hopeless and frustrating period of time in my life. That’s pretty obvious when you listen to the lyrics. So, when I had to decide which songs were gonna go on the album "One Shot", I deliberately decided to leave “Carry Me Over” out for two reasons. One being the fact that, you know, I simply thought the lyrics were too sad/depressing and that’s not what I wanted to signal to the fans. Second, I felt it would tip the balance on the album. However, I still think it’s a beautiful melody!! Melancholic indeed, but also very honest and therefore I can back it up at any time. That’s how I felt and that was the state of my mind when I wrote it," says Atkins of the studio track "Carry Me Over".

"Today, I’m in a different place, not diagnosis wise really, but I feel good and I guess I’ve somehow learned how to adapt to the situation and deal with it. Thanks to immunotherapy, a positive mindset, and, not the least of which, the almighty God, I’m still here," he concludes.
The EP was produced and mixed by Chris Laney, co-produced and arranged by Anders Ringman, and mastered by Jacob Hans 1

ONCE HUMAN Reveal New Single / Video "Only In Death"Ferocious SoCal five piece, Once Human have unveiled a video for "Only In Death", another new track taken from their upcoming album, Scar Weaver, which will arrive at DSPs via EarMusic on February 11, 2022. Pre-order / pre-save your copy here.
Regarding the new single, "Only In Death:, frontwoman Lauren Hart tells us: "This is my most personal song on the new album. It meant so much to me, that I really needed to get my hands dirty with the visuals. [Guitarist] Logan [Mader] and I filmed everything to keep the song’s raw meaning. Musically, it’s very emotional and dire, and the outro is probably my favorite piece of music on the album!"

Scar Weaver represents a massive step forward for the band. Blessed (or perhaps cursed) with a surplus of time during 2020’s lockdown situation, the band have been able to refine and redefine their sound, inspired by a sudden creative surge from latest recruit, guitarist Max Karon. 2

Blitzkrieg In Texas: Live 2005 will be available as a Digipack CD, strictly limited to 500 pieces. The Vinyl will be out in February 2022 (more details soon). Furthermore, there will be three color versions, each limited to 100 pieces. And, a Cassette, limited to 100 pieces, should be available at the end of October.
The band stated: “Vader maniax! Good news for all of you today. Following the idea of releasing Vader live recordings from the past, we proudly announce Blitzkrieg In Texas: Live 2005. In cooperation with our official store, we try to give you something more than all those non-official bootlegs. A pearl for the collectors and nice documentary for the fans.”
Vocalist / guitarist Piotr 'Peter' Wiwczarek adds: “As a fan, I always loved to listen to live recordings from the past; and I am a crazy collector of bootlegs. Even if the sound was sometimes really bad, there is no other records with so honest and real atmosphere of metal show. It was and it is to me best metal documentary ever!
The show in San Antonio in Texas back in 2005 was part of our Blitzkrieg 3 USA tour. We were sharing stages with our friends from Decapitated, Dew-Sentenced and Abigail Williams. Daray joined the band on drums a while before and we were right after recordings of the EP, The Art Of War, which was out soon after the tour. That was when all fans in USA could hear new Vader songs for the first time. And we still had some of The Beast songs on the setlist as well. After really hard times, Vader started to rise up out of the deep.”
Tracklisting:
"This Is War"
"Lead Us!"
"Sothis"
"The One Made Of Dreams"
"Xeper"
"The Crucified Ones"

Watch Front-Row Video Of ACE FREHLEY's Performance In NashvilleYouTube user Greg Perry has uploaded front-row video of Ace Frehley's October 3 performance at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, Tennessee as the support act for Alice Cooper. Check out the footage below.
Ace's setlist was as follows:
01. Rocket Ride (KISS song)
02. Parasite (KISS song)
03. Strutter (KISS song)
04. Rip It Out
05. Never in My Life (MOUNTAIN cover)
06. Good Times Bad Times (LED ZEPPELIN cover)
07. Shock Me (KISS song)
08. Ace Frehley Guitar Solo
09. Detroit Rock City (KISS song)
10. New York Groove (Russ Ballard cover)
11. Cold Gin / Black Diamond (KISS song)
12. Deuce (KISS song)
Frehley's band features guitarists Ryan Cook and Jeremy Asbock, bassist Philip Shouse and drummer Matt Starr.
When Ace's tour with Alice was first announced in May, Frehley said in a statement: "I've known Alice for over 30 years. We're good friends, and we've toured together numerous times and always had a blast. Our musical roots are very similar, and the combination of our two bands make for a great event that nobody is gonna want to miss. Being off the road for more than a year because of the pandemic has been tough on everyone in the music industry, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the fans happy, healthy, and ready to rock."
Last December, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would begin recording his next all-original album "after the New Year." The record will be the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne. Ace is laying down the effort at the newly built studio at his new house in New Jersey.
Earlier last year, Frehley told Canada's iHeart Radio that he has "only written about three songs" for his next LP, and he added they were "not finished." He said: "Now that I'm [living] on the East Coast [after moving to New Jersey from Southern California], my engineer only lives an hour from me, Alex Salzman, who worked with me extensively on this last record, and he played a lot of bass guitar as well, So it's gonna be even easier, 'Origins Vol. 3' and the next [original] record."
Frehley's latest release was "Origins Vol. 2", the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist.
KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on "Spaceman", "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Your Wish Is My Command", the latter of which also features Simmons's bass playing.

METALLICA Releases Pro-Shot Video Of 'Ride The Lightning' Performance From LOUDER THAN LIFE FestivalProfessionally filmed video of METALLICA performing the song "Ride The Lightning" during its September 24 show at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky can be seen below.
As previously reported, METALLICA also played the songs "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and "No Leaf Clover" at Louder Than Life as a contribution to the Global Citizen livestream, a worldwide charity event which was broadcast over 24 hours around the world on Apple Music, Apple TV app, YouTube and Twitter.
During an appearance last Friday (October 1) on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was asked what it has been like for him and his bandmates to return to the road for their first live shows since late 2019. "Very emotional on every level," he responded. "Obviously, it's invigorating and it's inspiring and it's just great to get back out there.
"I think it was just about two years, maybe a little over two years, since we stepped off stage at 'S&M[2]' in San Francisco. And, obviously, we did the drive-in thing last summer, we did an All Within My Hands virtual event and a couple of TV appearances, but in terms of live shows with live audiences and that real deal, it had been over two years. So I believe that in the six hundred years METALLICA's been going that that's been the longest absence from the live stage we've ever had.
"When we stepped on stage at The Independent in San Francisco about two weeks ago now, [we were] definitely nervous," Lars admitted. "[It was] a little daunting. 'How do we do this again? We hope the muscle memory will come back.' And, obviously, we'd been rehearsing and prepping and staying in shape, but you never know.
"So we had a great show in San Francisco. A week later, we had a great show in Chicago back at the Metro, which is where we played on the 'Kill 'Em All' tour. This was the infamous show where — I think it's in the 'Cliff 'Em All' video, and it's definitely made the rounds — where James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman] is holding up the 'Kill 'Em All' album that had just been released, I think, within a week or two of when we were playing there. I think it's in 'Metal Militia'; we were doing a breakdown, sing-along thing, and he holds 'Kill 'Em All' up, and somebody in the audience snags it or jumps up and grabs it. So, lots of memories there. And full circle back, I guess, 38 years later. So, [it was] so much fun to be back there.
"That show was crazy fucking hot," Ulrich added. "They were having a September heatwave; I think it was, like, 95 [degrees Fahrenheit] every day in Chicago. And up on stage at the Metro there, which is up on the second floor, it was about 195 degrees; [we were] definitely gasping for air for some of that show. But those two were great. And then, [we went] down to Lousville a couple of days later and playing the Friday and the Sunday of the Louder Than Life festival, two completely different sets — no repeats [of songs], which I'm super proud of. Outside, Friday night, it's 60 degrees, I got a little elbow room up on stage. I have to tell you the muscle memory came back, actually, quicker on those bigger shows than on the smaller ones.
"But I was so happy to be back out there, so grateful to feel the energy of the fans and their patience through all this shitstorm of the last year and a half with COVID, and so happy to reconnect with the fellows and my brothers in the band and play music and share that experience once again with a live audience and being in the moment and just feeling it.
"I would say that all is very well in METALLICA in the fall of '21, but, fuck, I hope for the rest of our career that there's not another two-year absence from the live stage.
"So, it's been definitely a bit of a whirlwind — lots of emotions," Lars said. "But we're happy to be back out there and, like I said, happy to be connecting with everybody again. Obviously, [it's been] a little odd. We really have taken the COVID seriously and put ourselves in a bubble and not seen anybody.
"And you're at a festival like Louder Than Life, and your friends in JUDAS PRIEST are in the dressing room next door, and our friends in GOJIRA and our friends in VOLBEAT and our friends in DISTURBED and all our friends in all the different bands that we've had so many experiences with for decades are all over the place, and we wanna go hang out with them and engage. So it's been a little weird to not be able to do any of that and not do the meet-and-greets and see the fans — the fan-club meet-and-greets and all that signing stuff at the hotel — but we've taken the COVID stuff super seriously. And the flipside of that has been that our touring party, which, I guess, is — I don't know; what are we? 12, 14, 15 [people] — we've been having dinner together every night and we've been going to some movie theaters and hanging out, and it's actually brought the touring party super close. Because we've just been hanging and socializing with each other rather than running off in four different directions like a pack of marbles. So, it's been great. But, man, I'm so happy to be back at it again."
METALLICA will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a pair of hometown shows for its fan club members on December 17 and December 19 at San Francisco's Chase Center.
METALLICA will play two more U.S. festivals this fall in partnership with promoter Danny Wimmer Presents: Aftershock and Welcome To Rockville.

Watch DAVID COVERDALE Unbox WHITESNAKE's 'Restless Heart: Super Deluxe Edition'In the wake of WHITESNAKE's massive global success, the band's founder and lead singer, David Coverdale, set out to record his third solo album in 1995. However, the plan was derailed when pressure from his record label forced him to change course and release "Restless Heart" under the DAVID COVERDALE & WHITESNAKE moniker. Despite the changes, the 1997 album was a Top 40 hit in the U.K. Surprisingly, the record was never released in the U.S. That will change this fall when Rhino introduces several versions of "Restless Heart", including a four-disc boxed set.
An 11-minute video in which Coverdale unboxes "Restless Heart: Super Deluxe Edition" can be seen below.
"Restless Heart: Super Deluxe Edition" will be available on October 29 and is available for pre-order now. The 4CD/DVD collection features newly remastered and remixed versions of the original album, along with unreleased demos and studio outtakes. The DVD includes music videos and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album with new interviews from David Coverdale. The set comes with a hardbound book filled with rare and unseen photos from the era.
Three additional versions of "Restless Heart" will be available the same day. First is a two-CD deluxe edition that includes the new remix plus the original album, newly remastered. Next is a double-LP deluxe edition pressed on 180-gram silver vinyl that features the newly remixed album. And finally, there is a single-disc version which again features the newly remixed album. In addition, all of the music will be available digitally through streaming services.
"Restless Heart: Super Deluxe Edition" opens with a newly remixed version of the album that's closer to the sound Coverdale initially intended for his new solo release. It's followed by a newly remastered version of "Restless Heart", including the singles "Too Many Tears" and "Don't Fade Away", plus three bonus tracks from the album's original Japanese release. Featured musicians include Adrian Vandenberg, Denny Carmassi, Guy Pratt and in addition, guitarist Joel Hoekstra and keyboardist Derek Sherinian who bring their exceptional talents to the party.
The following two discs reveal how "Restless Heart" evolved, starting with early pre-production versions of every album track to later takes of those songs.
The DVD features several music videos ("Too Many Tears" and "Restless Heart") plus the making-of-the-album featurette. There is also a video EP featuring the three relevant songs from the 1997 live acoustic album, "Starkers In Tokyo", originally only available in Japan

SLIPKNOT's 'Psychosocial' Certified Gold In U.K.SLIPKNOT's "Psychosocial" has been certified gold in the United Kingdom.
To earn a gold certification for a single in the U.K., SLIPKNOT had to sell 400,000 units of the song.
The platinum, gold and silver certifications awarded by the British Phonographic Industry in recognition of sales milestones have included audio streaming data since June 2015, with 1,000 streams counting as one "sale."
"Psychosocial" is taken from SLIPKNOT's album "All Hope Is Gone", which was certified gold back in September 2008, about a month after the LP's release.
The official video for "Psychosocial" was uploaded to SLIPKNOT's YouTube channel in October 2009 and has been viewed 415 million times.
SLIPKNOT's latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", was certified silver in the U.K. in December 2019 for sales in excess of 60,000 copies.
In the U.S., "We Are Not Your Kind" sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Of that sum, 102,000 were in album sales.
"We Are Not Your Kind"'s sales in the U.S. were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with SLIPKNOT's summer 2019 tour.
Late last month, SLIPKNOT launched the 2021 incarnation of the "Knotfest Roadshow" with support from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, FEVER 333 and CODE ORANGE. The 28-date run, produced by Live Nation, kicked off following the band's Knotfest Iowa hometown show in Des Moines on September 25, and will wrap up in Arizona in early November.

AGNOSTIC FRONT's ROGER MIRET Undergoes Another Surgery In His Battle With CancerAGNOSTIC FRONT vocalist Roger Miret says that he "should feel better soon" after undergoing another surgery in his battle with cancer.
Earlier this year, Miret was diagnosed with cancer. A long road of tests and diagnoses led to a complex initial surgery and lengthy hospital stay. Even though the original surgery was complicated, the results were extremely positive. The cancer was successfully removed and Roger is now in complete remission and all signs of cancer have disappeared.
On Sunday (October 3), AGNOSTIC FRONT's official Instagram was updated with a new video message from Roger, apparently shot by his wife at a hospital, in which he says in part: "I just had a surgery done, and I'll feel better really, really soon. I should feel better soon 'cause I had an infection. I was running a fever for two weeks straight. So, no need to worry, no one. We're staying positive. And really, I'm so grateful of each and every one of you for just your love and support and everything you've all come together for. It's been heartfelt."
A GoFundMe page has been launched where fans can donate to help Roger pay medical care costs.
Born in Cuba, Miret fled with his family to the U.S. to escape the Castro regime. He joined AGNOSTIC FRONT in 1983, and the seminal New York harcore group released classics like "United Blood", "Victim In Pain" and "Cause For Alarm" over the next several years.
In 2017, Miret released a memoir, "My Riot: Agnostic Front, Grit, Guts, And Glory", which documented his struggles to adapt to life in the U.S. after his family fled the Castro regime. According to the Phoenix New Times, the book delved into many facets of Miret's life: the grinding poverty of his childhood; living as a teenager squatter; becoming deeply enmeshed in downtown New York’s hardcore scene; and later turning to drug-running to support his family.
In addition to fronting AGNOSTIC FRONT, Miret has also played with ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS and is a member of THE ALLIGATORS.
For the past several years, Roger has resided in Scottsdale, Arizona.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's 40th Anniversary Celebrations Continue With Digital Remaster Of 'Shout At The Devil'Legendary rock band MÖTLEY CRÜE continues its 40th anniversary celebration with the release of the digital remaster of its iconic album "Shout At The Devil". Hits such as "Looks That Kill", "Too Young To Fall In Love" and title track "Shout At The Devil" are amplified on this version of the band's breakthrough album. Selling over 200,000 copies in the first two weeks, "Shout At The Devil" established MÖTLEY CRÜE as one of the top-selling rock acts of the 1980s.
Released in September 1983, the band's second studio album reached No. 17 on the Billboard 200. With two of its singles charting on the Billboard Hot 100, "Shout At The Devil" also featured a cover of THE BEATLES' 1968 song "Helter Skelter". Moving over four million copies in the U.S., the album is now certified quadruple platinum in the U.S., triple platinum in Canada and gold in Australia. Most recently, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album N. 44 in its list of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time" in 2017.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's 40th anniversary celebrations will culminate with the digital remaster of their album "Too Fast For Love", arriving exactly 40 years to the original release date of November 10, 1981. Their debut album was recorded at Hit City West Studios and made available via their own label Leathür Records.
