BATTLE BEAST Release New Album Today; Official Video For "Endless Summer" Posted

BATTLE BEAST Release New Album Today; Official Video For "Endless Summer" Posted

Finnish heavy metal sextet Battle Beast unleash their studio album, No More Hollywood Endings, today (March 22nd) through Nuclear Blast Records. To mark the occasion, the group has unveiled a brand new music video for the track "Endless Summer", which was once again directed by Markus Nieminen and produced by Oy Routafilmi AB. Watch it below.

Keyboardist Janne Björkroth states: "'Endless Summer' brings a little bit of sunshine to the album. It's a light-hearted summer song which takes us on a nostalgic trip, back to a carefree summer some years ago. We recommend for this song to be used when driving on a sunny day. Put the radio on, roll the window down and let the wind blow through your hair."

The eleven featured songs on No More Hollywood Endings were recorded by keyboardist Janne Björkroth, Viktor Gullichsen and guitarist Joona Björkroth at JKB Studio; the record was also produced and mixed by Janne. Last but no least, the cover artwork was created by Jan Yrlund (Korpiklaani, Manowar), who already took care of the Bringer Of Pain design.

Janne stated about the forthcoming record, "The heavy songs are heavier, pop-delights brighter, rock vibes stronger, and sounds richer than before. The emotional scale is wider, and everything is bigger. Stay tuned for 2019!"

THE DAMNED THINGS: 'Something Good' Lyric Video

THE DAMNED THINGS: 'Something Good' Lyric Video

The official lyric video for the song "Something Good" from THE DAMNED THINGS can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming second album, "High Crimes", which will be released on April 26 via Nuclear Blast.

The supergroup comprised of members of EVERY TIME I DIE, ANTHRAX and FALL OUT BOY recently confirmed the addition of ALKALINE TRIO bassist Dan Andriano to its ranks. He replaces Josh Newton (EVERY TIME I DIE), who hasn't been part of the band since it was reactivated three years ago. Also gone from THE DAMNED THINGS is guitarist Rob Caggiano (VOLBEAT, ANTHRAX).

"Normally, when career bands say they made a record for fun, they didn't — but we actually did. Maybe that's why this band doesn't have a career?" said THE DAMNED THINGS' Joe Trohman. "Anyway, we're genuinely proud of it."

"High Crimes" was produced by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, AMON AMARTH) and is the follow-up to 2010's "Ironiclast".

"High Crimes" track listing:

01. Cells

02. Something Good

03. Invincible

04. Omen

05. Carry A Brick

06. Storm Catcher

07. Young Hearts

08. Keep Crawling

09. Let Me Be (Your Girl)

10. The Fire Is Cold

Trohman — who also plays in FALL OUT BOY — told Kerrang! magazine that the band was originally planning to release a new EP "but then it got to the point where we just made a whole record. The more we put into it, the more we were, like, 'Okay, let's just do this,'" he said. "I hate using the terms 'organically,' because it's a pretty shitty buzzword, but it happened organically. [Laughs]"

Trohman also spoke about some of the individual tracks on "High Crimes", saying: "I originally wanted to open the record with this song called 'Storm Charmer' because it was really slow and ominous, which is probably a bad idea. [Laughs] I think I love 'Cells' — that is one of my favorite songs on the record. 'Cells', 'Omen' and 'Carry A Brick' are some of my favorites.

"Honestly, I've been sitting with the demos for nearly two years, and I still haven't got sick of any of it," he continued. "I don't listen to it in a self-serving way. I'll listen to them and think, 'When am I going to hate them?' And every time I listen to them, I really like all these songs. It's the first time I've listened to a record and found there's not a lot I would change. With making anything, I could tweak it forever, but I think with this one, the mentality was just: go in, write these songs, and when they're done, they're done. Don't overthink anything. Hopefully, by approaching it in a 'Let's make them sound really cool and not tweak them forever' stance, then they would be the rawest possible version. I though the last record was definitely a little flippant in production, and I just wanted to pull back on that."

THE DAMNED THINGS was formed a decade ago, when FALL OUT BOY's Andy Hurley and ANTHRAX's Scott Ian started writing music together. The band played its first show two years later and released its debut album, "Ironiclast", in December 2010. After performing a few gigs together, the members took a hiatus and returned to their respective bands.

In addition to Ian and Hurley, "Ironiclast" featured EVERY TIME I DIE frontman Keith Buckley, Trohman, Newton and Caggiano.

"Ironiclast" sold 6,200 copies in the first week of release and reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

Exclusive: MERIDIAN Premiere “The Devil Inside Us All” Video

Exclusive: MERIDIAN Premiere “The Devil Inside Us All” Video

“The Devil Inside Us All” is the album opener for the new album Margin Of Error by Meridian. Margin Of Error will be released March 22nd on CD, LP, and digital through Mighty Music. Check out the BraveWords premiere:

Bassist Peter Bruun says: “The music was written back in 2017. We were jamming on other new song ideas, and at one point Martin just came up with the first riff out of the blue. It sounded cool right away, so everybody jumped at it. Ideas came flying left and right, and within about half an hour, we had the music done. It was one of those magical moments that you can’t plan, but happens once in a while. Afterwards Lars put a nice melody one top of it, and we had a song. Klaus wrote the words about fighting inner demons.”

Margin Of Error is the bands third album. It’s recorded at Death Island Studio and is produced by guitarist Marco Angioni. It includes songs from the digital EP The Fate Of Atlantis released last year, including the single “Fragments Of A Life”.

Musically the album displays a varied landscape of melodic hard rock, hard hitting metal anthems and slow-paced heavy monsters. Songs with strong melodies and memorable choruses you can sing along to. It's the most coherent and well-crafted collection of songs from a band that's better than ever.

Meridian is heading out on the road in 2019 to support the album

Exclusive: GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS Premiere “Turned To Ice” Single

Exclusive: GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS Premiere “Turned To Ice” Single

Second single "Turned To Ice" from the masters of progressive metal Ghost Ship Octavius is a true melodic masterpiece and it’s being premiered by BraveWords! The track is taken from their new album Delirium, released February 22nd through Mighty Music.

Formed in 2012 by guitarist Matthew Wicklund (God Forbid, Himsa), drummer Van Williams (Nevermore) and vocalist/guitarist Adōn Fanion, Ghost Ship Octavius began writing what would become their critically acclaimed 2015 self-titled debut release. With foundations in progressive metal, GSO are forging a fresh pathway in the metal genre by exploring emotional and melodic writing firmly founded in technical playing and memorable hooks with a common theme of darkness, hope and ghostly imagery with chilling, arctic elements throughout. Their album, Delirium, sees GSO raising the bar in both technical ability and emotional depth and color and marks the beginning of a new record label partnership with Mighty Music.

“We are beyond pleased to announce joining forces with Mighty Music, bringing forth a new and exciting chapter for GSO Worldwide.” - Matthew Wicklund, Van Williams & Adōn Fanion

“Ghost Ship Octavius is one of the most promising and professional artists I ever signed to Mighty Music. Their Delerium album is a 10/10 in my personal fanzine.” - Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music CEO

METALLICA's Concert With SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY Among Best-Selling Events This Week

METALLICA's Concert With SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY Among Best-Selling Events This Week

According to Ticket News, the upcoming METALLICA concert with the San Francisco Symphony this fall took the top spot on yesterday's best-selling events list, Ticket Club sales data reveals.

The one-off September 6 event will see METALLICA join forces with the orchestra for the first time in two decades for the opening of San Francisco's new Chase Center arena. METALLICA and the San Francisco Symphony last played together in 1999, at a concert that was recorded and filmed for the "S&M" album and DVD.

The classical musicians and classic rockers will be the first acts to perform at the new 18,064-seat arena that will serve as home to the NBA team Golden State Warriors in the fall.

On Tuesday (March 19), METALLICA fans took to Twitter to express their outrage after the pre-sale for the "S&M²" show ended within seconds due to bots grabbing all the available tickets.

Members of METALLICA's fan club were supposed to be given the opportunity to buy tickets a few days early, but it was reported that tickets began showing up instantly at StubHub before fans had a chance to view their pre-sale opportunity.

Fans reported signing in at exactly 9:00 a.m. PT and being unable to purchase a single ticket, while tickets went on sale at StubHub via resellers at prices ranging from $300 to $16,000 for one ticket.

The original "S&M" concerts were conducted by the late Michael Kamen in spring of 1999 at the Berkeley Community Theatre. The "S&M²" concert will feature the first live performances of these arrangements in 20 years, plus the first-ever METALLICA/San Francisco Symphony renditions of songs written and released since the original "S&M", with new orchestral charts by Bruce Coughlin.

INFERI Launch "Quest For The Trinity" Lyric Video

INFERI Launch "Quest For The Trinity" Lyric Video

Newly recorded with their current lineup and a few new embellishments, Nashville-based technical melodic death metal outfit Inferi draw ever closer to the upcoming April 12th release of The End Of An Era | Rebirth.

A slight addition to the title that symbolizes not only the growth within the band since, but draws attention to the fact that this new version of the release refines the material bass guitar and drum-wise. While largely keeping to how it was originally crafted outside of a stronger more robust production for the new version. As the band has stated many times, this is an effort they're still proud of, and, one both music collectors eager for physical versions long since out of print, and fans of the band itself have long been clamoring for.

As it did in its original 2009 form, but, delivers even stronger on The End Of An Era | Rebirth, the release bridges the gap between the band's initial solidly melodic death metal centered style in with the advanced technical melodic death metal framework they've grown into from 2014's breakout, The Path Of Apotheosis, and last year's follow-up, Revenant.

Inferi has premiered the album's second early single, "Quest for the Trinity". The premiere doubles as an exquisitely crafted lyric video that lets the listener dive deeper into the songs lyrical focus which perfectly matches the songs scorching intensity.

Inferi guitarist Malcolm Pugh comments on The End Of An Era | Rebirth: "I'm really excited to finally see this project fleshed out. I have yearned to re-record this album for almost a decade now and I'm glad it happened with the strongest lineup the band has ever had. I think the older fans will be able to appreciate what we have done with the record and new fans will get a new view of the band with a wider perspective if they've never gone back to check out our older albums. We are all very excited, now it is time to hit the road!"

Tracklisting:

"The Ruin Of Mankind" (Ft. Ryan Cho on additional strings)
"Gatherings In The Chamber Of Madness"
"The Endless Siege"
"A New Breed Of Savior"
"Sentenced To Eternal Life"
"The War Machine Embodiment"
"The Warrior's Infinite Opus"
"Quest For The Trinity"
"Forged In The Phlegethon" (Ft. guest vocals from original drummer Eric Brown of Nekrogoblikon)
"Cursed Unholy"

Video Premiere: EVERGREY's 'All I Have'

Video Premiere: EVERGREY's 'All I Have'

"All I Have", the new video from acclaimed Swedish dark melodic metal masters EVERGREY, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new studio album, titled "The Atlantic", which was released on January 25. The band has worked extensively on the follow-up to 2016's "The Storm Within" (which entered the charts on high positions in numerous countries).

EVERGREY again teamed up with Jacob Hansen, who — just like with the band's previous releases "The Storm Within" and 2014's "Hymns For The Broken" — took care of mixing and mastering.

EVERGREY's Tom S. Englund stated about the album's lyrical concept: "I think during the writing for the 'Hymns For The Broken' album, I started writing the lyrics, and I figured that I was writing about somebody else — somebody who was transitioning from being one person, leaving something that he was feeling secure within his life and entering another world. During that album, I realized that I was pretty much writing about myself, so I would say that 'Hymns For The Broken' was about realizing that you needed to make a move, while 'The Storm Within' was about the realization and the honesty that, fuck, this isn't going to work anymore — I have to leave, and the frustration and the fears and the darkness and all of that that came with that, but also some sort of hope for the future. At the same time, it wasn't set in play, and that's where 'The Atlantic' comes in. That's when you put both feet in the water and start shoving out the ship and leaving. I'm not saying that I'm on the other side of the ocean yet, but at least I embarked on the journey. The Atlantic — or any ocean — represents so much of what life is, really — the crashing waves, the darkness and the depths and the loneliness and the big vastness and feeling small in a huge world, and not knowing what is on the other side of the ocean and how that's going to treat you, [and] who you're going to become."

"The Atlantic" track listing:

02. Weightless

03. All I Have

04. A Secret Atlantis

05. The Tidal

06. End Of Silence

07. Currents

WHITECHAPEL: 'Hickory Creek' Video Released

WHITECHAPEL: 'Hickory Creek' Video Released

On March 29, Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL will release their seventh full-length album, "The Valley", via Metal Blade Records. The official Mathis Arnell-directed music video for the latest single from the disc, "Hickory Creek", can be seen below.

Produced once again by Mark Lewis (CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and featuring artwork by Branca Studio, "The Valley"'s title is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it.

"Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that," says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands a hundred percent behind everything their vocalist has to say. "I feel our music is Phil's release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well."

Anyone throwing "The Valley" on for the first time will immediately recognize it as the work of WHITECHAPEL, yet, as has been the case with each release, there is also evolution in play. "Sound-wise, it's all over the place," Bozeman states plainly. "There's aggression, and then you're hit with ominous and emotional guitar riffs. It's mean, but then transfers to soft and inviting. It's a whirlwind of emotions throughout."

"The Valley" track listing:

01. When A Demon Defiles A Witch

02. Forgiveness Is Weakness

03. Brimstone

04. Hickory Creek

05. Black Bear

06. We Are One

07. The Other Side

08. Third Depth

09. Lovelace

10. Doom Woods

This spring, WHITECHAPEL will co-headline the 2019 edition of the "Chaos & Carnage" U.S. tour with DYING FETUS. Support on the trek will come from REVOCATION, FALLUJAH, SPITE, UNCURED and BURIED ABOVE GROUND.

Former MY DYING BRIDE Members Launch GODTHRYMM; 'We Are The Dead' Video Released

Former MY DYING BRIDE Members Launch GODTHRYMM; 'We Are The Dead' Video Released

Powerhouse doom trio GODTHRYMM — featuring former members of MY DYING BRIDE and VALLENFYRE — has just released a studio performance video for its song "We Are The Dead" prior to recording their debut album.

Guitarist/vocalist Hamish Glencross states: "We are incredibly proud to share this video with you to serve as an introduction to the band whilst we are in the process of securing a deal for our debut album.

"Since forming only over a year ago, we have forged our strength as a tight, powerful live act following a couple of great festival appearances, some wonderful shows supporting such great bands as PARADISE LOST, MEMORIAM, VODUN, WITCHSORROW and PALLBEARER, as well as our own headline shows up and down the U.K. So we wanted to capture the power and energy of our live performance in a way to introduce ourselves to those unfamiliar with us (basically everybody!) So, we spent half a day in a studio in Sheffield with the very talented Nathan Bailey as producer, and we are very happy to share with you 'We Are the Dead'."

GODTHRYMM is:

Hamish Glencross (MY DYING BRIDE, VALLENFYRE) - Guitar, Vocals

Danny Lambert - Bass, Vocals

Shaun "Winter" Taylor-Steels (ex-MY DYING BRIDE) - Drums

ANIMAL DRIVE Streaming Cover Of WHITESNAKE's "Judgement Day" From Back To The Roots EP

ANIMAL DRIVE Streaming Cover Of WHITESNAKE's "Judgement Day" From Back To The Roots EP

Croatian hard rockers, Animal Drive, are streaming their cover of Whitesnake's "Judgement Day", to be featured on the band's upcoming Back To The Roots EP, coming soon from Frontiers Music Srl. Listen below.

Animal Drive are preparing to begin work in earnest on the follow-up album to their stunning debut, Bite!. To hold fans over while they wait for the band's new album, Animal Drive jumped in the studio to record a covers EP, Back To The Roots. The tracklisting includes a super-heavy rendition of Roxette’s “The Look” (featuring the guest vocals of Frontiers labelmate and fellow Trans-Siberian Orchestra artist Rosa Laricchiuta), a magnificent and epic version of Whitesnake’s “Judgement Day”, Skid Row’s “Monkey Business”, and Warrant’s evergreen classic “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” Animal Drive showcase how much musical prowess the band possesses by covering these three hard rock classics and a mainstream '90s hit and completely making them their own.

On why the band chose to cover Skid Row's "Monkey Business", Dino Jelusic says, “People used to, and still do sometimes, compare Animal Drive to Skid Row and their Slave To The Grind era. That song opens the Slave To The Grind album and it’s a monster jam, so it felt like a logical fit."

Of the other covers on Back To The Roots, Jelusic continues, "The other three songs are 'Uncle Tom’s Cabin' by Warrant, 'Judgement Day' by Whitesnake and 'The Look' by Roxette. I've always wanted to cover 'The Look' in a heavy way, so it was cool to finally do it. We are big Whitesnake fans and had to go for one of their more epic jams. The Warrant song is one of their absolute best and shows what a great songwriters Jani and the band are, plus it's a great fit for a heavy band to cover."

As for what can fans expect from the next Animal Drive album, Jelusic says, "I more or less have all the songs down. It will be epic, a lot more versatile than the first album, more pianos and orchestra, progressive, but still very heavy and melodic. Probably my finest lyrical and musical work to date."

Back To The Roots is a great chance to get accustomed with one of the hottest new Hard Rock bands around and if you are a serious fan, this time you can’t go wrong.

LONELY ROBOT Premiers "Ancient Ascendant" Lyric Video

LONELY ROBOT Premiers "Ancient Ascendant" Lyric Video

Lonely Robot, the project masterminded by producer, guitarist and singer/songwriter John Mitchell (Kino, Frost*, Arena, It Bites), recently announced the release of Under Stars for April 26. Today sees the launch of the first track taken from the album, and you can watch the lyric video for "Ancient Ascendant" below.

John comments: “'Ancient Ascendant' is a wry poke at and indeed musical equivalent of the famous ‘evolution of man’ picture. We may be evolutionary but we seem to be walking backwards into the swampy quagmire of a synthesized society. Maybe we can learn something from the simpler times and customs of our ancestors even if we can’t learn from their history. This was the first song I recorded for Under Stars and I had a ball recording it!”

The album once again features drums by long-time collaborator Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson), plus bass contributions from Steve Vantsis (Fish), with all other instrumentation on the album delivered by Mitchell himself.

Of the record, John comments: “It is the final part in the astronaut trilogy, and was recorded over an intensive month and a half period. This time I wanted to reference my love of 80’s synthwave pop a little more, so beware the 808! The title is derived from belief that we as humans spend far too much time not noticing the beauty around us and far too much time tethered to technology.”

Under Stars will be released as a limited edition digipak CD (featuring three bonus tracks), gatefold 2LP + CD & as digital album. Pre-order here.

Under Stars is the final album in a trilogy for Lonely Robot, John Mitchell's visionary project. This began in 2015 with the 'Please Come Home' album and continued two years later with ''The Big Dream'.

“I always saw this as a trilogy, and it feels like the third part of the Lonely Robot master plan has reached a natural conclusion.”

As with the two previous albums, there is a theme running across the songs here, as Mitchell explains.

“On 'Please Come Home', the theme was about the idea that life on Earth didn't originate from this planet, while for 'The Big Dream', I was really giving everyone the benefit of Zen musings according to John Mitchell. This time things are a little more down to earth. What I am doing is looking the millennial generation, and the fact that kids today are so tied to their phones and to technology. They really have no clue what is actually going on around them, and I find that worrying.”

Tracklisting:

“Terminal Earth”
“Ancient Ascendant”
“Icarus”
“Under Stars”
“Authorship Of Our Lives”
“The Signal”
“The Only Time I Don’t Belong Is Now”

OCTOBER TIDE Feat. Former KATATONIA Members: Listen To 'I, The Polluter' Song

OCTOBER TIDE Feat. Former KATATONIA Members: Listen To 'I, The Polluter' Song

"I, The Polluter", a brand new song from Swedish melodic death/doom metallers OCTOBER TIDE, featuring ex-KATATONIA members Fredrik and Mattias Norrman, can be streamed below. The track is taken from OCTOBER TIDE's sixth studio album, "In Splendor Below", which will be released on May 17 via Agonia Records. The follow-up to 2016's "Winged Waltz" was mixed and mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén at Tri-Lamd studios (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, BREACH, CRAFT). It was produced by Alexander Backlund from Nailvillage Studio (THENIGHTTIMEPROJECT, LETTERS FROM COLONY) and OCTOBER TIDE. Tomarum av Christine Linde created the cover artwork.

With a history tracing back to the epicenter of melodic death metal in Sweden, OCTOBER TIDE has come a long way and has generated a spark that is strongly felt in the energy of the scene. "In Splendor Below" is the latest addition to the band's vibrant discography of guitar-driven, emotive death/doom metal art. It packs some of the most authentic and unique compositions from the capable hands of founding member and longtime KATATONIA guitarist Fredrik Norrman, his brother and guitarist Mattias Norrman (ex-KATATONIA), vocalist Alexander Högbom (DEMONICAL), bassist Johan Jönsegård (LETTERS FROM THE COLONY) and drummer Jonas Sköld (LETTERS FROM THE COLONY, THENIGHTTIMEPROJECT). While Fredrik prefers for the music to speak for itself, he finds the new album "a bit more aggressive, a bit more death metal, and with an overall colder feeling than previous records."

The band is planning a tour in support of the new album in November and December of 2019. In the meantime, they will perform at In The Grip Of Winter Festival (NL), Exit Festival (SRB) and MetalDays Festival (SI).

LANCE KING - Former PYRAMAZE, BALANCE OF POWER Singer Debuts "Pointing Fingers" Music Video

LANCE KING - Former PYRAMAZE, BALANCE OF POWER Singer Debuts "Pointing Fingers" Music Video

Legendary singer Lance King, original voice behind Pyramaze, Avian, Balance Of Power and Gemini, will release his second solo album, ReProgram, on March 29th via his own Nightmare Records. ReProgam is now digitally available to pre-order/save via Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes.

ReProgram delivers stadium-worthy metal grooves topped with King's epic vocal chops and heady content. Today, fans can get a second sample of ReProgram via a potent new track, "Pointing Fingers". Watch a video below.

Lance King says, "'Pointing Fingers' is about an explosive relationship where love, and emotional abuse have created a dysfunctional cycle that never finds a happy ending for long... the protagonist is waking up to the fact that only he can end it... that his partner either cannot break the cycle because of her own insecurities... or that she actually thrives on the drama like an emotional vampire."

ReProgram was co-produced by Lance King and renowned producer/guitarist Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Evergrey, Epica, Amaranthe). The album features an array of established co-writers and talented featured performers, including Kim Olesen (Anubis Gate), Markus Sigfridsson (Darkwater/Harmony), Matt Hodsdon (Chaos Frame), Rich Hinks (Annihilator/Aeon Zen), Morten Gade Sørensen (Pyramaze/Anubis Gate), Fred Columbo (Spheric Universe Experience), Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen), and Jakob Riis (L Wood Joy).

Lyrically, the album explores themes including societal ills and the subjective nature of truth. Lance dives further into the human psyche than any rock performer in recent memory and this intellectual but soul-centered approach sets Lance King apart from his peers in the global metal community. There is a constant dissonance in our lives, and ReProgram looks to find harmony in the dissonant world that we have created.

This is an album for the seekers of truth, for the ones who carry the fire and never let it die.

Lance adds, "The single most powerful thing you can do is unlearn the limiting beliefs you have accepted as truths in your youth. This frees you from the chains that bind, the chains of the subconscious mind."

ANTHEM Release "Cryin' Heart" Live Video

ANTHEM Release "Cryin' Heart" Live Video

Less than two weeks before the release of their re-recorded greatest hits album Nucleus, Japan's leading traditional heavy metal band, Anthem, have unveiled a new live video for the song "Cryin' Heart", featuring guest drummer Mad Ohuchi. The track is taken from their 1988 album Gypsy Ways and a live version of this album will be available as bonus CD with Nucleus.

On the eve of the bands 35th Anniversary, their popularity in Japan remains as high as ever and their worldwide fan base continues to grow. Thus the idea of an all English re-record of their biggest hits came to be.

Band leader and bassist Naoto Shibata comments: "Our re-recorded greatest hits album with English lyrics, represents all that this is Anthem’s nucleus. I am honoured from the bottom of my heart that we can present this to our fans. Anthem will keep doing our best to move forward heading for the future as always. I hope you all will enjoy Nucleus.”

Mixing and mastering for Nucleus were done by the legendary Jens Bogren. His works based on elaborate theories and a great store of knowledge helped Anthem achieve their goals on this release. Nucleus is heavy with Jens' fat sound and rich low-end that he has made the worldwide heavy metal standard.

This re-recorded greatest hits, including a variety of their classics is a monumental work, which perfectly shows the musical quality of Anthem and proves that they can be ranked as a global act in the international metal scene.

Anthem guitarist Akio Shimizu states: "Those 13 songs were not easy to re-record at all, however I believe they fully got the sound and the expression of today’s Anthem while being true to the originals at the same time. Please give it to a listen and feel the details of the album with the fresh mixing by Jens Bogren."

Vocalist Yukio Morikawa says of the recordings: "Singing all the songs in English was not easy at all for me, but I hope this album will show the world that Japan has a band like us who loves metal this much. I hope you enjoy Nucleus!"

Nucleus will be released in North America via Golden Robot Records on March 29th and can be pre-ordered here. The album will be available elsewhere via Nuclear Blast Records.

AMON AMARTH To Release 'Berserker' Album In May; First Single, 'Raven's Flight', Now Available

AMON AMARTH To Release 'Berserker' Album In May; First Single, 'Raven's Flight', Now Available

Swedish death metallers AMON AMARTH will release their new album, "Berserker", on May 3 via Metal Blade Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, URIAH HEEP and STONE SOUR.

The album's first single, "Raven's Flight", can be streamed below.

"Berserker" track listing:

01. Fafner's Gold

02. Crack The Sky

03. Mjolner, Hammer Of Thor

04. Shield Wall

05. Valkyria

06. Raven's Flight

07. Ironside

08. The Berserker At Stamford Bridge

09. We Can Set Our Sails

10. When Once Again

11. Wings Of Eagles

12. Into The Dark

AMON AMARTH vocalist Johan Hegg told Revolver magazine about the lyrical inspiration for the follow-up to 2016's "Jomsviking": "With the last record, I wrote a complete fucking movie script and we turned it into an album. This time around, I didn't have any of those ideas but we also didn't want to do a concept thing, either. 'Jomsviking' turned out so well, so if you then start working on another concept album and try to top that, it would almost be impossible — unless you have a really great story lined up that you can do that with. But I didn't, so it didn't make sense. I was a bit lazy on this one — I waited for the music to be done so I could see where it would take me."

According to Hegg, the only lyrical idea he had before the music was done was a song called "The Berserker At Stamford Bridge".

"A friend of mine told me about the story and said I should write lyrics about it, which I thought was a great idea because it's such an awesome story," he said. " Basically, it's at the end of the Viking era. The Vikings are in England, and they've been very successful in beating the English, because what the Vikings did better than the English is that they moved fast and they moved during the night. But at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, the English used the Vikings' tactics against them, so they caught the Vikings by surprise. The Vikings were too far away from their supply ships, so they had to retreat. The Vikings were about 3000 men, and the English were 15,000. So they retreated over Stamford Bridge, but in order to halt the English army, they sent one guy with an ax out on the bridge."

Asked if there are any other songs based on specific events, Hegg said: "Not specific events, though 'Shield Wall' is based on a real Viking battle tactic — but it's also about sticking together in the face of adversity. Then there's more introverted stuff, as well — songs that kind of relate to my private life, and I got the ideas for those songs from my wife. I got a lot of ideas from other people on this album, actually. I like working in metaphors, though. Mikael Stanne from DARK TRANQUILLITY told me that when he writes lyrics, he keeps them intentionally vague so that people can interpret the lyrics in a way that benefits them most. I like that, and I realized it's something I've done as well."

"Jomsviking" debuted at No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart in March 2016. The disc was released via Metal Blade in North America and Sony Music internationally. The first concept record in AMON AMARTH's career was produced and mixed by Andy Sneap (JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, ACCEPT).

AMON AMARTH enlisted a session drummer, Tobias Gustafsson (VOMITORY, CUT UP), during the recording sessions for "Jomsviking", following the departure of longtime drummer Fredrik Andersson. The band tapped OCTOBER TIDE drummer Jocke Wallgren as Andersson's permanent replacement three years ago.

DAVE LOMBARDO: 'I Don't Keep Track Of SLAYER'

DAVE LOMBARDO: 'I Don't Keep Track Of SLAYER'

Ex-SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo has told Drum! magazine in a new interview that he doesn't pay attention to what his former band is doing. "I don't keep track of SLAYER," he said. "I have too much to deal with over here."

The 54-year-old musician, who splits his time between crossover pioneers SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, horror-punk icons MISFITS and hardcore supergroup DEAD CROSS, went on to say that he has no intention of calling it quits anytime soon.

"People at my age talk about retirement — that's not even in my playing cards," he said. "When you're given something like this, where you get to do something you love so much, you don't disrespect it. I feel most alive when I'm onstage, when I'm working. In 25 years, people will be saying, 'That's Dave Lombardo? He's still playing? Who's he playing for now? Who the hell is that?'"

Lombardo was effectively fired from SLAYER after sitting out the group's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other bandmembers. He has since been replaced by Paul Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001.

Shortly after his dismissal, Lombardo said that he discovered that 90 percent of SLAYER's tour income was being deducted as expenses, including fees to management, costing the band millions and leaving them with about 10 percent to split four ways. While he and bassist/singer Tom Araya hired auditors to figure out what had happened, Lombardo said he was never allowed to see any of the information obtained.

A few years ago, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King said that "when Dave was in [the band] this last time, I figured I'd be on the stage with him until one of us fell off the stage, dead. Things change. He got some bad advice and listened to some bad advice, gave us an ultimatum ten days before we went to Australia [to do the Soundwave festival tour]. And I said, 'I can't have this over my head.' And I feel bad for Dave to this day; I really feel bad for him because he shot himself in the foot. Maybe he thought he had the upper hand, but you ain't gonna get me."

ZEAL & ARDOR Share “We Never Fall” Live Video

ZEAL & ARDOR Share “We Never Fall” Live Video

Black metal blues alchemists Zeal & Ardor have shared a live video of “We Never Fall”, a previously unreleased song taken from their forthcoming live album, Live In London, due out this Friday, March 22nd, via MVKA.

Including four previously unreleased songs for a total of 22 tracks, Live In London is the entire recording of the band's headline show at the Electric Ballroom in London last December. Besides CD and digital formats, fans can also pick up a special double 180g white vinyl.

The new songs included are “We Never Fall”, “Hold Your Head Low”, “Cut Me”, and “Baphomet”. Bar these, the set list was devised from the band's two existing albums - debut Devil Is Fine and 2018's follow-up Stranger Fruit.

Frontman Manuel Gagneux comments, "We recorded our London show last December. Since we're really proud of our performance, we are releasing the entire show consisting of our entire catalogue of songs. Mixing duties crushed by Kurt Ballou and Alan Douches mastered these 80 minutes into cohesion. We are really happy with how this turned out and can't wait to unleash it upon you all."

ALAN PARSONS: 'I Can't Get There From Here' Video

ALAN PARSONS: 'I Can't Get There From Here' Video

"I Can't Get There From Here", the new video from Alan Parsons, can be seen below. The track is taken from Alan's upcoming studio album, "The Secret", which will be released on April 26 via Frontiers Music Srl. The song, which includes guest vocals by Jared Mahone, is also featured in the motion picture "5-25-77".

Alan and Frontiers' relationship began in 2010 when the label released "Eye 2 Eye - Live in Madrid". They have kept in close contact since, with the ultimate goal to release another album together. Alan wanted it to be a really special album and only recently have the right plans and ideas fallen into place where Alan felt ready to enter the studio to record what he had in mind.

"The writing and recording sessions are going incredibly well," says Alan. "The album already has a working title, which is 'The Secret', and it will include musical and lyrical themes that are very close to my heart and my own interests and passions. I do not really want to reveal a lot about it, except that for the moment everything that surrounds 'The Secret' is going to be just that… a secret!"

The overall musical approach of the album is expected to be in keeping with the symphonic rock that Alan explored on his earlier solo records and the "Project" albums. But, of course, there will be new twists and turns and robust new creative inspiration behind the album. Some special guests will be on the album, but those will be revealed later... again, in keeping with the working title of the album, "The Secret".

Frontiers president Serafino Perugino commented: "This is pretty much a dream come true for me. For Frontiers being able to represent the artistry and the talent of such a huge artist is a magnificent opportunity. We look forward to this release as much as Alan's fans and it will see the light of day in multiple exciting formats. Stay tuned!".

Parsons said: "I wish to thank Serafino and the team for the commitment and the patience to make this happen. To the fans… we'll see you soon on a world tour!"

The track listing for the disc is as follows:

01. The Sorcerer's Apprentice (instrumental)

02. Miracle (lead vocal: Jason Mraz)

03. As Lights Fall (lead vocal: Alan Parsons)

04. One Note Symphony (lead vocal: Todd Cooper)

05. Sometimes (lead vocal: Lou Gramm)

06. Soirée Fantastique (lead vocal: Todd Cooper, Alan Parsons)

07. Fly To Me (lead vocal: Mark Mikel)

08. Requiem (lead vocal: Todd Cooper)

09. Years Of Glory (lead vocal: PJ Olsson)

10. The Limelight Fades Away (lead vocal: Jordan Huffman)

11. I Can't Get There From Here (lead vocal: Jared Mahone)

Check out the cover artwork below.

Parsons's music career started at 19 when he earned one of his his first credits as assistant engineer on THE BEATLES' "Abbey Road", an album recorded in the legendary London studios of the same name. He soon become a well-respected studio engineer, working for Paul McCartney, THE HOLLIES, and many others. He is particularly renowned for his work as recording engineer on the PINK FLOYD masterpiece "The Dark Side of The Moon". This classic album was recorded in 1972 and Parsons experimented with many of the most advanced recording techniques of the time. As a producer, he enjoyed many successes with PILOT, STEVE HARLEY AND COCKNEY REBEL, John Miles, and Al Stewart, including the masterwork "Year Of The Cat".

In 1975, Alan Parsons formed THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT along with principal songwriter (and occasional singer) Eric Woolfson. The PROJECT consisted of a group of studio musicians and vocalists, often involving the members of three bands Alan produced: PILOT (Ian Bairnson, Stuart Tosh and David Paton), COCKNEY REBEL's Stuart Elliott on drums, and (on the first album) American progressive pop/rock band AMBROSIA.

THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT released ten acclaimed studio albums, but never performed live during the heyday of the albums, even after several U.S. and European Top 20 hits. The PROJECT made its final album at the end of the '80s with the album "Gaudi". Since then, Alan has released a number of recordings under his own name using several musicians that also appeared on the "Project" releases.

As well as receiving gold and platinum awards from countless countries, Parsons has received eleven Grammy Award nominations for his engineering and production work. In 2007, he was nominated for "Best Surround Sound Album" for his studio album "A Valid Path".

In 1994, Alan Parsons started touring regularly as THE ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT and has released a number of live releases in audio and video. His live concerts continue to this day.

Says the twins: "'Closer To The Heart' is our very first Rush cover! We wanted to do justice to this iconic classic, so we arranged the whole song (including the solo) and we absolutely love how it turned out. We think the harps give the song a beautiful and ethereal quality, and we think that our new polyphonic guitar effects pedal adds to the celestial resonance. We also wanted to keep the driving beat of the song, which created some fun syncopation between the 2 harps.

"We recorded this track on our electro-acoustic Concert Grand harps, but filmed on our acoustic Concert Grands since they were what we had with us on this particular performance trip. We love the timeless and important message of this song and we hope that our interpretation will encourage others to “mold a new reality, closer to the heart”. Oh, and that cool sound that you hear at the opening screen is the wind playing the harps on location! Pretty magical, we think! ;) ;)

"This video was filmed by our mom on our phone. Everything you hear in our arrangement is exactly how we perform it live with our 2 harps: no backing tracks, loops, or harp overlays. Please let us know if you enjoyed “Closer to the Heart” by liking the video, favoriting, leaving a comment, and sharing it with your friends. We will continue to go where no harps have gone before! Please subscribe and stay tuned for more of our radical Duet Harp Revolution!

"This track will also soon be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, CDBaby and Spotify. Check back soon!

"Please listen with headphones or good speakers for best sound!"

DARKTHRONE To Release 'Old Star' Album In May

DARKTHRONE To Release 'Old Star' Album In May

Black metal veterans DARKTHRONE will release their new album, "Old Star", on May 31 via Peaceville. The band's first studio album since 2016's "Arctic Thunder" sees the Norwegian legends cut through six new epic tracks, taking in the best of the old school of heavy and extreme metal plus a large dose of doom-laden riffing, and channelling it through the grime of the underground.

Fenriz enthuses: "'Old Star' — again we are here with the riffs! A while after our previous 'Arctic Thunder', album it became apparent that we would continue in that same style, black old heavy metal with slow thrash, classic doom and slow death metal.

"As many have focused on the '70s sound over the last 20 years, the mix on our new album has ended up being more '80s than ever. The songs are more metal than ever! Ted's songs have alot of black metal in them, faster and slower but also doomier parts and reocurring parts. My songs are more linear written. It's an ancient '80s underground trick, with breaks, all slow heavy or slow thrash, classic doom or slow death."

He continues, "All in all, it is our most '80s album so far and our most metal one to date with drum sound typical for the '80s USA/German market and damned lyrics, which are all written by me. We feel that 'Old Star' is the big brother of 'Arctic Thunder'. More solid and with even better riffs."

"Old Star" was recorded at the band's Necrohell 2 Studios, with engineering and production duties carried out by vocalist/guitarist Nocturno Culto, complemented with a perfectly organic mix courtesy of Sanford Parker (VOIVOD) at Hypercube Studios and mastered once more by Jack Control at Enormous Door. The stellar cover artistry comes courtesy of Chadwick St John, titled "The Shepherd of the Deep."

Over the course of 30 years, DARKTHRONE has become a staple of the global black metal genre, forging a legacy as one of the most renowned and influential bands in its illustrious and often infamous history. In the formative years following its 1987 inception, DARKTHRONE started with a strong concoction of thrash and then death/doom metal experimentation, with broader musical influences spanning from the '60s to the '80s, before the debut album, "Soulside Journey", was unleashed in 1991. Never ones to follow convention or stand still even then, the band soon embraced a much darker, more primitive form of expression with the now iconic second album, "A Blaze In The Northern Sky", the rest became history.

CULT OF LUNA Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS

CULT OF LUNA Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of CULT OF LUNA to a worldwide deal.

For almost 20 years, CULT OF LUNA has imposed itself as one of the world's leading post-metal lights. Constantly evolving, the band pushes the genre's boundaries from album to album so as to explore the darkest and mistiest, as well as the driest and most abrupt, landscapes.

CULT OF LUNA comments: "We're thrilled to announce our collaboration with Metal Blade and the creation of our new home, Red Creek, that will handle CULT OF LUNA's future productions. This is a dawn to an exciting journey to come."

CULT OF LUNA hasn't released any new material since "Vertikal 1&2" (2013). In 2016, the "Mariner" album — which was made in collaboration with Julie Christmas (BATTLE OF MICE, MADE OUT OF BABIES) — was issued, and praised by both fans and critics. A DVD, titled "Years In A Day", followed in April 2017.

Recognized for its apocalyptic live performances that unrestrainedly explore the audience's imagination, transposing music-triggered sensations visually, CULT OF LUNA will bring its stunning live show to fans across Europe later this year — appearing at both festivals this summer, as well as headlining a tour in November/December with A.A Williams.

ENTHRONED To Release 'Cold Black Suns' Album In June

ENTHRONED To Release 'Cold Black Suns' Album In June

Belgian black metallers ENTHRONED will release their new album, "Cold Black Suns", on June 7 via Season Of Mist. The first single from the disc, "Silent Redemption", can be streamed below.

The band comments: "We're proud to introduce our first single 'Silent Redemption' from the upcoming album 'Cold Black Suns'. This track unveils one of the many layers of the long awaited 11th opus. With 'Silent Redemption', we take you along to Aokigahara, the infamous Suicide Forest in Japan, to walk amongst the Yūrei. While keeping our band's trademark, this new album offers another pitch in the music, soaking the listener in bleak and fury."

The cover artwork for "Cold Black Suns" was created by Neraath and can be seen below.

"Cold Black Suns" track listing:

01. Ophiusa (03:42)

02. Hosanna Satana (02:16)

03. Oneiros (06:26)

04. Vapula Omega (04:55)

05. Silent Redemption (06:07)

06. Aghoria (04:14)

07. Beyond Humane Greed (05:01)

08. Smoking Mirror (07:07)

09. Son Of Man (09:08)

Over the course of the last 25 years, ENTHRONED has pushed the boundaries of black metal and the depth of the "left hand path" philosophy. The quintet has channeled that dedication into its newest record; a dark and crushing black metal album where cold riffing, blood chilling atmospheres and ritualistic drumming are keys to forging their most mature and accomplished opus to date.

In 2016, Phorgath and guitarist ZarZax departed ENTHRONED on amicable terms, and were replaced by Norgaath and Shagal (from cult Argentinian act VIBRION), respectively.

ENTHRONED is:

Nornagest: Vocals

Neraath: Guitars, noise and effects

Shāgāl: Guitars

Norgaath: Bass

Menthor: Drums
