AVANTASIA: Lyric Video For 'Moonglow' Title Track Feat. CANDICE NIGHTThe official lyric video for the song "Moonglow" from EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA project can be seen below. The track is the title cut of AVANTASIA's new album, which will arrive on February 15 via Nuclear Blast.
Tobias comments: "Yes, we've found a song on the new album that is below the four-minute benchmark and it would work as a single. And despite being rather short, it's also representative for the world of AVANTASIA. Somehow in hindsight I think that my admiration for Mike Oldfield shines through here, which wasn't intentional, but you can't really control that. And, by and large, I find the song to be a typical AVANTASIA song nevertheless. The enchanting Candice Night [BLACKMORE'S NIGHT] did an amazing vocal job, and in all modesty, I think so did I, ha! 'Moonglow' is a declaration of love to the moon, the night; it's about entering a different world and the sacred experiences that go along with it."
Comprising 11 tracks, the new opus features several other guest vocalists. This time around, Tobias worked not only with such well-known faces as Ronnie Atkins (PRETTY MAIDS), Eric Martin (MR. BIG), Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE), Michael Kiske (HELLOWEEN) and Bob Catley (MAGNUM) but also with new collaborators like Candice Night (BLACKMORE'S NIGHT) and Mille Petrozza (KREATOR). The cover artwork was created by Alexander Jansson. "The Raven Child" features lead vocals by Sammet, Kürsch and Lande.
Comments Sammet: "I really can't wait to unleash 'Moonglow'. First reactions by press and friends are the most enthusiastic comments I have ever gotten in my whole career of 27 years. No bullshit; it's the truth. Sascha and I are overwhelmed!
"In order to avoid boredom, in the middle of promotion and tour preparations, I was getting myself involved in every detail of the album sleeves, booklets and packaging, to make sure the album drags the listener into a different world. I wanted 'Moonglow' to be an overall experience for escapists like myself.
"My favorite edition is the giant super strictly limited art book edition with bonus track and a bonus CD. A massive coffee table book with photos, interview, liner notes and illustrations of Victorian painter Grimshaw who has been very inspirational to me. This book edition is everything it takes to invite the listener into the world of 'Moonglow' and its productional process. There is also a smaller digibook version that features one bonus track and that is limited and beautiful as well. And, of course, there are also vinyl editions to hug, feel, watch, smell and caress.
"I am extremely proud of all these little treasures and can't wait to unleash them!"

MEGADETH: Complete 'Warheads On Foreheads' Details RevealedOn March 22, MEGADETH will celebrate its 35th anniversary with the release of "Warheads On Foreheads", a 35-track career retrospective. The anthology spans the band's entire studio recording career, from its first album "Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good" to its 2016 Grammy Award-winning release "Dystopia", and will be available as a 3-CD set, a 4-LP set and a digital edition via UMe Recordings. A limited-edition, four-LP set pressed on silver colored vinyl will be available exclusively through the band's online store, with deluxe bundles to be announced. Visit this location for details.
"Thirty-five years ago I chose the name MEGADETH for my band and I see these songs as the most efficient weapons in the band's arsenal," says Dave Mustaine. "'Warheads On Foreheads' is a U.S. military term for targeting efficiency. It's all about using the right tool for the job and these tracks were created for maximum destruction (or stopping power, or something else!)."
In 1984, Mustaine was determined to start a new band that would be heavier and faster than his peers. Mustaine's songwriting was rapidly maturing, and he set about combining the attitude and energy of punk, with the power and intricate riffing of metal, along with direct, sociopolitical lyrical content. With David Ellefson on bass and Gar Samuelson on drums, the band recorded its infamous three-song demo which quickly circulated through the underground tape-trading circuit and became an underground hit leading to a deal with Combat Records.
"Warheads On Foreheads" starts at that beginning with the early thrashers "Rattlehead" and "Mechanix" from the band's 1985 debut, "Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good", an album that would lay down the blueprint and establish MEGADETH as forerunners of what would later be called thrash metal (and recently hailed by VH1 as the greatest thrash metal debut of all time).
MEGADETH was quickly signed by Capitol Records and released its 1986 major label debut "Peace Sells…But Who's Buying?", which became the band's first certified gold record and would go on to become MEGADETH's first platinum-selling release. Featured on "Warheads On Foreheads" are "The Conjuring" and the track "Good Mourning/Black Friday", which Pitchfork describes as "everything great about hardcore, plus a dose of the kind of show-off skill that makes lesser musicians' fingers bleed." Other songs included are "In My Darkest Hour" from its platinum-selling "So Far, So Good, So What!" (1988), "Hangar 18" and "Holy Wars…The Punishment Due" from its Grammy-nominated platinum album "Rust In Peace" (1990), and "Symphony Of Destruction" and "Sweating Bullets" from 1992's Grammy-nominated double-platinum release "Countdown To Extinction". Also featured are "A Tout Le Monde" and "Reckoning Day" from 1994's platinum-selling release "Youthanasia", "Kingmaker" from 2013's Top Ten release "Super Collider", which hit No. 3 on both the Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts, "She-Wolf" from the Grammy-nominated Top Ten release "Cryptic Writings" (1997) and the title track from the band's most recent album "Dystopia".
Upon its release in 2016, "Dystopia" reasserted MEGADETH's place at the top of the metal world, equaling the chart impact of their early-nineties output, earning the band its first Grammy, as well as rave reviews (The Guardian gave it five out of five stars and stated "'Dystopia' is an absolutely blistering return to the state-of-the-art bombast and refined technicality.")
MEGADETH burst onto the scene thirty-five years ago, virtually inventing a genre and selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" for the title track "Dystopia", 12 Grammy nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked its way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world.

DANKO JONES To Release 'A Rock Supreme' Album In AprilIt's long been clear that the Canadian hard rock trio DANKO JONES lives and breathes — and even sweats and bleeds — rock n' roll. The group's namesake front man loves to talk about it (check out his long-running "The Official Danko Jones Podcast" for proof); he loves to write about it (as his new book, "I've Got Something To Say: 10 Years Of Rock And Roll Ramblings", pointedly captures); and he loves to sing about it, as evidenced by a number of the group's best-loved songs ("I Gotta Rock", "Rock Shit Hot", "Do You Wanna Rock", etc.).
On the group's new album, the aptly titled "A Rock Supreme", Danko Jones — the man and the band — ups the ante considerably from the moment the very first words blast from the speakers: "I'm in a band, and I love it / All I want to do is play my guitar and rock and roll." There's no midlife crisis here, no softening with age, no signs of self-doubt — just 11 fist-pumping (literally, in the case of "Fists Up High") jolts of sonic adrenaline with nary a ballad in sight.
"'A Rock Supreme' is the name of our new studio album. There are 11 songs on it, and they're all fantastic," says Jones. "Trust me — we know what we're doing when it comes to hard rock."
Produced by GGGarth Richardson (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, RISE AGAINST, BIFFY CLYRO) and featuring cover artwork by Ulf Lunden (GRAVEYARD, EUROPE, BOMBUS), "A Rock Supreme" — which is available now for pre-order — will be released on April 26 via M-Theory Audio (U.S.), Rise Above (UK), Indica (Canada, AU, NZ) and AFM (rest of the world). All digital pre-orders include three instant downloads — the previously released singles "We're Crazy" and "Burn In Hell", and the newly released "Dance Dance Dance", which can now be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and other digital platforms.
A music video for "Dance Dance Dance" — which premiered on Wednesday on Los Angeles's iconic KLOS during a live appearance on "Jonesy's Jukebox" with host Steve Jones (SEX PISTOLS) — will premiere early next month, when the band will hit the road in the Western United States for a two-week headlining tour with support from the like-minded hard rock group NASHVILLE PUSSY and recent European tour mates PRIMA DONNA.
DANKO JONES — whose namesake frontman contributed guest vocals to VOLBEAT's 2017 #1 Active Rock hit "Black Rose", a song he performed live with the group at their stadium show in Denmark (a show that was released as the DVD/Blu-ray "Let's Boogie! Live From Telia Parken") — has made a name for itself over the years as a must-see live band during memorable tours with the likes of GUNS N' ROSES, MOTÖRHEAD and CLUTCH.
The group's last album, 2017's "Wild Cat", cracked the sales charts in Canada and eight European territories, achieving the group's highest chart positions yet in Germany, France, Belgium and Switzerland. Upon its release, lead single "My Little RNR" became one of the fastest-streaming songs of the band's career and has since become a live staple.
Over the years, DANKO JONES has earned extensive praise for its visceral live shows and attitudinal, libidinous rock. The group's best-known material includes "Had Enough", which earned the group their first gold and platinum singles in Sweden and has racked up more than 13 million Spotify streams; "Gonna Be A Fight Tonight", which WWE used as the official theme song of the 2015 Royal Rumble; and "Lovercall", its first of seven singles to crack the U.S. Active Rock Top 40.
"A Rock Supreme" track listing:
01. I'm In A Band
02. I Love Love
03. We're Crazy
04. Dance Dance Dance
05. Lipstick City
06. Fists Up High
07. Party
08. You Got Today

Ex-WHITE LION Singer MIKE TRAMP: 'Dead End Ride' Video"Dead End Ride", the new video from former WHITE LION singer Mike Tramp, can be seen below. The song is taken from his upcoming studio album, "Stray From The Flock", which will be released on March 1 via Target Records. Staying true both to the timeless roots of rock 'n' roll and his own roots, it is a record that won't disappoint fans of previous releases from the Danish singer/songwriter.
With more than a hundred shows planned in 2019 to support the new album — starting off in the U.S. in February and March with 22 shows — this will be another great year for Tramp.
Stadium concerts. Number one chart entries with solo releases. History of rock'n'roll written all over him. Tramp has had it all. Right now, however, after spending the last two decades studiously carving out a solid solo career for himself, Tramp is happy being Mike Tramp.
"Many years ago, I realized that going back to basics, demanding nothing and being surprised if there was a tray of sandwiches in the dressing room was the way forward," he says.
"Stray From The Flock" is the latest in a stellar collection of records written and released by Tramp since 1997. From the excellence of his solo debut "Capricorn" to "Maybe Tomorrow", the Danish singer has been on a distinctive, solo journey that has seen him reinventing himself and reach a consistency in look, feel and a sound that centers on some of the finest, acoustic-based-yet-hauntingly melodic songs you'll ever hear.
Recorded at Ark Studio in Denmark and mixed in Sweden by Peter Masson, "Stray From The Flock" essentially takes the template of the 2013 release "Cobblestone Street" one step further. It’s also an album that pretty much wrote itself. "I picked up the guitar and the songs just started flying out of me," Tramp says. "I thought, 'Fuck! There's an album that wants to come out of here."
Mike will, of course, be touring in support of "Stray From The Flock", but, as with his previous solo excursions, there won't be any explosions, moving drum risers or confetti bombs on stage. There will just be a guy standing in the middle being the real deal.
"Stray From The Flock" will be released on on CD, double gatefold LP on black 140-gram vinyl, limited double gatefold LP on orange color LP, 180-gram (500 copies only), digital and cassette. 3

THE NEAL MORSE BAND: 'I Got To Run' VideoTHE NEAL MORSE BAND — Neal Morse (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Randy George (bass), Bill Hubauer (keyboards, vocals), Eric Gillette (guitars, vocals) — is taking fans on "The Great Adventure" with its latest double concept album, which is being released today (Friday, January 25) on Radiant Records via Metal Blade worldwide. It is available in three formats: a two-CD package, two-CD/DVD special edition featuring behind-the-scenes video clips of the making of the album, and three vinyl LPs.
The official music video for the song "I Got To Run", taken from "The Great Adventure", can be seen below.
The follow-up to 2016's critically acclaimed "The Similitude Of A Dream" is the ninth studio album with Morse, Portnoy and George, and the third as a true collaboration with this current lineup. Together, Morse and Portnoy have launched four bands, but the one that has endured the longest and thus with the most musical output has been THE NEAL MORSE BAND.
"Let the great adventure now begin…" The closing line of "The Similitude Of A Dream" has proved to be strangely prophetic. The new album is exactly that: a perfect companion piece to "The Similitude Of A Dream"'s partial retelling of John Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress". It has everything that fans would expect from an album by THE NEAL MORSE BAND, and more: rock, metal, classical and jazz elements appear throughout, as well as some killer melodies, all played faultlessly by some of the greatest rock musicians on the planet.
As Neal Morse explains: "This band continues to amaze me! I have to say it was a little daunting to follow up 'The Similitude Of A Dream' as it was such a special album and it delivered every night at our concerts, but I believe that 'The Great Adventure' will have a tremendous impact as well. This new double album is everything that I hoped it would be! I listened through last night and I was in tears at the end!"
Mike Portnoy emphatically agrees. He says: "How do you follow an epic double concept album??? Well, create another epic double concept album!! Hahaha. I always knew topping 'The Similitude Of A Dream' was going to be difficult, if not impossible, as I held it in such high regard, but alas, I am absolutely blown away with what we achieved here! We've created what is the ultimate companion to 'The Similitude Of A Dream'."
"Sometimes there are things that you just can't mess with," Randy George continues. "On 'The Similitude Of A Dream', we tapped into something special. I was sure that the follow up should be something quite different, but you have to follow your heart and follow the music where it wants to go. 'The Great Adventure' is nothing short of a miracle. It's similar to 'Similitude' in concept and form, but yet it's tougher and deeper in its tone! This is a powerful work and I look forward to playing it live!
True to the album's title, the creative process was indeed a "great adventure." Unlike many previous Morse albums, which have often been written and arranged within weeks, this time around these prolific and world-class musicians spent almost a year working on the end result, producing an abundance of top-quality material. This meant some ruthless decision-making: some already completed songs and characters had to go, and — with studio time running out–new links and ideas were being composed and recorded up to the eleventh hour. "A lot of work and re-work has gone into this," says Morse, "but I know that some of the most successful and far-reaching albums I've been involved with have been just like that. 'Sola Scriptura' and SPOCK'S BEARD's 'Snow' album come to mind."
Another key question that had to be addressed in the studio was how to pull all the ideas together into a coherent whole. In the end, what unlocked this "adventure" for Morse was the realization that 'The Great Adventure' needed a new voice and perspective. This time, it is that of the Pilgrim's abandoned son, a younger, perhaps angrier, voice than was heard on "The Similitude Of A Dream".
THE NEAL MORSE BAND will bring "The Great Adventure" to fans worldwide with a new round of headlining tour dates, which begin February 2 in Nashville at City Winery.

Watch DAVE GROHL, COREY TAYLOR, REX BROWN, SCOTT IAN Cover PANTERA's 'Walk' At This Year's 'Dimebash'Last night (Thursday, January 24), Santa Ana, California's Observatory OC hosted a massive "Dimebash", a tribute to late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. The event was hosted by Sirius XM's Jose Mangin and was headlined by an all-star jam of top musicians performing Dime's music and his favorite tunes.
Video footage of Dimebag's PANTERA bandmate Rex Brown, along with Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR), Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) and Chris Broderick (MEGADETH, ACT OF DEFIANCE) performing the PANTERA classic "Walk" at this year's "Dimebash" can be seen below.

JETBOY Releases Video For 'Beating The Odds' Featuring Spoken-Word Piece By LEMMY"Beating The Odds", the new video from JETBOY, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "Born To Fly", which will be released on January 25, 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl.
Of the new single, guitarist Billy Rowe says: "'Beating The Odds' features a spoken-word piece by the late, great Lemmy Kilmister. In 1990, Lemmy became friendly with us and jumped on stage at the Cathouse for our second album-release party to cover a rocked up version of Jerry Lee Lewis's 'Great Balls Of Fire'. A year or so later, Lemmy ended up helping out with some backing vocals on a demo, along with a spoken-word piece titled 'The Reading', which was written by Lemmy and Mickey [Finn, vocals]. In the breakdown of this new single, we edited a portion of the reading as we felt it was such a perfect fit for the track. The video was also inspired by Lemmy, with an animated story of a war pilot in a dog fight and beating the odds to survive."
Founded in 1983 by guitarists Billy Rowe and Fernie Rod, JETBOY continues to crank out its brand of rock 'n' roll in the 21st century with the same passion that has existed from the beginning.
"Born To Fly" — put together by the band's core of guitarists Billy Rowe, Fernie Rod and vocalist Mickey Finn, alongside former FASTER PUSSYCAT bassist Eric Stacy and drummer Al Serrato — is the first full-fledged set of new material from JETBOY since 1990.
The band wasn't working on any new material when Frontiers approached us," says Rowe. "Mickey and I had written one or two songs a few years back, but that's about it. For myself, I've been very into writing music and got very into recording, so I had a good amount of complete musical songs that I always felt could end up as new JETBOY material, and some of it did. But the majority of the songs on this album were written within a couple of months after we got the offer from Frontiers."
Rowe continues: "Writing and recording this album came so naturally, there was no struggle at all. We feel it happened at the right time and was meant to be.
"The spirit of the band has been at an all-time high ever since we started this new album. We shared ideas via e-mail and then demoed every song before enteringthe studio. Once we started tracking this album, we all felt something special was going on."
Best described as a blend of edgy rock and roll with a traditional blues-based influence, "Born To Fly" is the perfect vehicle to exploit the commanding style of JETBOY's classic rock 'n' roll sound.
"The musical inspiration for the "Born To Fly" album came from a lifelong list of influences from bands we all grew up on from the 1970s," states Rowe.
"JETBOY has always approached its writing with a simple, stripped-down, no-nonsense rock 'n' roll structure, starting with a great riff and a catchy hook.
"This album flowed so organically, everything felt like it was meant to be. We've also all really grown as musicians, which really helped capture what we feel is some of our best work to date."
Vocalist Mickey Finn says the "lyrics flowed amazingly fast, with most songs being written in one sitting. My feelings were to stay true to JETBOY's roots and style, but to also incorporate where we are at today, pleasing old and new fans alike.
"My wife was the inspiration for 'Every Time I Go' and my firstborn son inspired 'The Way You Move Me'. Our life struggles as a band and lifelong friends inspired tracks like 'Beating The Odds' and 'Born To Fly'. 'Inspiration From Desperation' covers our political climate in America these days, 'Brokenhearted Daydream' reminds us that love is sometimes fickle and hearts get broken, but don't let it destroy your heart — we have to learn to move on and allow love to come into our lives again.
"So, all in all, lots of inspiring messages on the record, as well as some good old rock 'n' roll fun and 'Party Time!' lyrics make it a well-rounded listen!

KING CRIMSON Announces More 50th-Anniversary Tour DatesLegendary progressive rock band KING CRIMSON will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year by embarking on a 50-date world tour.
The North American leg will begin in late August, with European and South American shows to follow in the coming months.
Since the band's return to live performance in 2014, with critically acclaimed sell-out shows all over the world, including two defining shows at the Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, the audience has been reinvented, as much as the band itself.
Says guitarist Robert Fripp: "In Pompeii, a large percentage of the audience was young couples; KC moved into the mainstream in Italy. I walked onstage knowing that this band's position in the world has changed level."
The band's packed three-hour shows regularly include material from 12 of KING CRIMSON's 13 studio albums, including many of the songs from their seminal 1969 LP "In The Court Of The Crimson King", described by Pete Townshend as an "uncanny masterpiece."
The new eight-piece KING CRIMSON lineup plays many historic pieces which the band has never played live, as well as new arrangements of CRIMSON classics. There are also new instrumentals and songs, as well as the compositions by the three drummers, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey, which are a regular highlight. It is a unique show, where eight of the best musicians in the world play music without distraction or adornment.

STARBREAKER Featuring TONY HARNELL And MAGNUS KARLSSON Release Dysphoria Album; "Wild Butterflies" Lyric Video PostedTony Harnell, the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and former vocalist of multi-platinum hard rock band TNT, and Magnus Karlsson, current Primal Fear guitarist extraordinaire, have rejoined forces for the release of the third Starbreaker album, Dysphoria, out today via Frontiers Music srl.
Order the album here, and watch a lyric video for the song "Wild Butterflies", below.
Dysphoria showcases everything the project has become known for: metal sensibilities, melodic songs with killer hooks, thought provoking lyrics, inventive, intricate guitar playing, occasional prog twists, and a crisp production. Along with explosive performances from Harnell and Karlsson, these are the trademarks which the listener will find in Dysphoria and that make this album so very unique and special.
Of calling the album Dysphoria,Tony states that the “title is simply a reflection of a state of mind and I thought it fit the lyrical theme of the songs. If I tried to summarize the lyrical theme of the album I would say it’s beautifully sad, but infinitely hopeful. Life is always my biggest inspiration. It was an easy album to write lyrically for that reason. There was no writer’s block and the themes are probably pretty obvious. I don’t like to paint too clear a picture for the listener, it’s best to let the words speak to them without guidance”.
Of the music direction on the album, Magnus states “Tony’s voice gives me inspiration to write my riffs and melodies. I imagine his voice, so in my head, I visualize the finished songs with great production. The two first albums didn’t take much more than a year from finish to start. This release was made over a much longer period because of our other bands and productions. It's the first time I worked on an album with breaks in the production. In the end, it came out much better. I’m really happy with the sound on a Starbreaker album. Thanks to Simone Mularoni (DGM) who did a great job with the mix. And Jonni Lightfoot and Anders Köllerfors who really made the songs shine! Tony’s voice sounds better than ever, just amazing! You can have the best songs, best production or fastest guitar solos, but if the vocals aren’t top notch, you have nothing!”

Starbreaker started as Harnell's side project while he was still fronting TNT. He was initially working on a solo record, with Karlsson, former TNT drummer John Macaluso, and bassist Fabrizio Grossi, but they morphed into Starbreaker, releasing their first self-titled studio album in 2005. In late 2007, Harnell flew to Sweden to write the bulk of the songs for the new album with Karlsson, and started recording the new songs at the end of that year. The group's second album, Love's Dying Wish was released in August 2008. It featured new bassist Jonni Lightfoot, who replaced Grossi, and was produced by Harnell and Karlsson, with Tommy Hansen (TNT, Pretty Maids, Helloween) serving as the mixer.
The songwriting for the new Starbreaker album started back before Harnell rejoined TNT in 2016, but it was after his ultimate split from that band, in October 2017, that he and Karlsson put the pedal to the metal and quickly completed the new record, Dysphoria.
Starbreaker lineup:
Tony Harnell - vocals
Magnus Karlsson - guitars, keyboards, backing vocals
Jonni Lightfoot - bass
Anders Köllerfors - drums

SHINEDOWN Drummer Responds To BRING ME THE HORIZON Dig At Rock MusicAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, SHINEDOWN drummer Barry Kerch has responded to remarks made by BRING ME THE HORIZON keyboardist Jordan Fish, who said in a recent interview that current rock music lacks good songwriters when compared to pop music. Kerch told Finland's Kaaos TV: "I think rock 'n' roll, as a whole, is doing well. It's doing really well. I think a lot of times it gets branded into such smaller genres — this is 'active rock,' this is 'alternative,' this is 'mainstream.'"
Kerch added: "That's all rock and roll, and all of that is doing well, but if you break it down into little things, sometimes it looks like it might not be doing well. I agree with him that songwriting is the key. There's been a lot of people that aren't writing good songs because they're just putting stuff out there."
Kerch told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that SHINEDOWN takes great care to put together albums full of songs that work together as a whole. "Records are a time capsule of what you're going through at that period in your life, so once you start piecing that together, even if it's a good song or a song that you really like, is it gonna fit on this record, man?" he said. "You have to go through that whole process. It can be painstaking for sure, but in the end you get a great record."
Fish had originally said: "[Modern rock music is struggling to keep up with hip-hop in terms of streaming numbers] because it's bad, generally. In my opinion, it's mostly shite. The people who are writing the songs aren't good enough songwriters... The craft of writing good songs is hard."
SHINEDOWN's latest album, "Attention Attention", came out last year and features the Top 10 rock hit "Get Up". The band will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in February. BRING ME THE HORIZON just launched a tour in support of its new album, "Amo", which arrives Friday (January 25). 9

Video: Former Members Of WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH And MSG Perform At COZY POWELL Tribute ConcertA special concert celebrating the life and music of legendary rock drummer Cozy Powell was held on December 29, 2018 at Robin 2 in Bilston, West Midlands, England. All profits from the event — which took place on what would have been Powell's 71st birthday — are being donated to Cozy's favorite charity, World Animal Protection.
Among the musicians that appeared at the event were URIAH HEEP's Russell Gilbrook, CATS IN SPACE frontman Paul Manzi, Mike Terrana, THE SWEET's Tony O'Hora, THUNDER's Chris Childs and Harry James, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP members Chris Glen and Ted McKenna, DARE guitarist Vinny Burns, LIONHEART's Lee Small, former WHITESNAKE and BLACK SABBATH bassist Neil Murray, and ex-BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin.
Cozy's original drum kit was used throughout the night.
Powell died on April 5, 1998 following a car crash, driving his Saab 9000 in bad weather on the M4 motorway near Bristol, while talking to his girlfriend on his mobile phone. He was living at Lambourn in Berkshire at the time and had returned to the studio shortly before his death to record with FLEETWOOD MAC co-founder Peter Green. By that time, he had been the drummer on at least 66 albums with minor contributions on many other recordings. It was generally felt that Powell's death was a great loss to the world of popular music. Countless rock-based drummers have cited Cozy Powell as an influence.
Powell's resume reads like a classic rock bible: COZY POWELL'S HAMMER, THE JEFF BECK GROUP, RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, WHITESNAKE, EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL, BLACK SABBATH and many, many more.

Watch SLIPKNOT's SID WILSON In Horror Comedy Series 'The Midnight Snack'SLIPKNOT's Sid Wilson, a.k.a. DJ Starscream, plays the lead role of John in Deathaus Films' new offbeat horror/comedy project "The Midnight Snack". For his character transformation, Sid's numerous tattoos, including his trademark gas mask face tat, neck ink, and transformers hand tattoos were all covered by expert FX make-up artist and "Face Off" (SyFy) alumni Laney Chantal with Erica Bunny Armendariz. Sid is seen with dark brunette hair, very different from his distinct red mohawk, and is dressed in white and '50s denim.
Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of "The Midnight Snack" and Wilson's amazing transformation can be seen below.
The short project is part one of a short series, and a pilot episode titled "Oh Yeah!" is now available to watch online.
Shot on Epic Red Dragon in the vein of a kooky sitcom by cinematographer Eli Tahan ("Night Of The Slasher"), "The Midnight Snack" was directed by Erik Boccio ("Blood Bath", PUSSY RIOT's "Putin Light Up The Fires"), is written and produced by Pandie Suicide ("Blood Bath", "Ditch Day Massacre"), known also as Pandie James, who stars opposite Sid as Betty Lou, the waitress at a retro '50s diner named The Midnight Snack, where John (Sid Wilson) stops by late one night for a bite. Eight-year-old Pearl Cohen also appears in the quirky-but-bloody new project in her acting debut.

SLASH, SAMMY HAGAR, JOE SATRIANI Among Guests On New DON FELDER Solo Album, 'American Rock 'N' Roll'According to Rolling Stone, Slash (GUNS N' ROSES), Sammy Hagar (VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT), Joe Satriani (CHICKENFOOT), Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, CHICKENFOOT) and Mick Fleetwood (FLEETWOOD MAC) are among the musicians who guest on "American Rock 'N' Roll", the upcoming solo album from former EAGLES guitarist Don Felder.
Slash plays on the title track, which traces the history of rock from the days of Woodstock and Jimi Hendrix to GUNS N' ROSES and the present day. "Slash lives really close to me," says Felder. "He came over, brought his guitar, plugged into one of my amps and we traded off on some solos. He actually plays on the part of the song that mentions GUNS N' ROSES by name." Hagar makes an appearance in "Rock You", which also features Satriani on guitar.
The follow-up to 2012's "Road To Forever", "American Rock 'N' Roll" will be released on April 5 via Felder's new record label, BMG.
"It's such a wonderful feeling to be a new member of the BMG family," Felder said in a statement. "They are an incredible company run by great people. I'm so excited and happy to be part of this amazing group and work side by side on my new album with them."
Added BMG executive John Loeffler: "Don Felder is one of music's true icons and we couldn't be happier he's chosen to work alongside BMG on his new album. His voice and musicianship are second to none and he's put together a real rock and roll gem full of hooks and melodies that stick with you for days. This is going to be a real favorite for all rock fans."
Felder joined the EAGLES in 1974 and remained in the group until its 1980 breakup. He was in the lineup when the band reunited in 1994, but was terminated in 2001 after reportedly questioning the split of the financial pie. He later sued for wrongful termination and breach of contract and fiduciary duty (the suit was settled out of court years later). Felder's no-holds-barred autobiography, "Heaven And Hell: My Life In The Eagles (1974-2001)", set back relations with his former bandmates even further.

The song is taken from the band's sixth studio album, "The Days Between", which was released on December 14 via Rat Pak Records.
Founded by METAL CHURCH guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof in 2005, PRESTO BALLET combines the melodic and harmonic old-school aspects with the neo-progressive rock sound of today. While its sound is often compared to the early works of KANSAS, RUSH and YES, PRESTO BALLET still maintains its own identity.
In regards to the musical direction of "The Days Between", Vanderhoof comments: "This new album is a mixed bag of musical influences, ranging from the '60s to the '70s but done in a modern context. The songs are a little more focused on melody, hooks and song structure. It's definitely more on the melodic rock side and it has all the elements of the things that this band loves most about music."

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN Guests On O.R.K.'s 'Ramagehead' AlbumSYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian has contributed his vocals to a song from O.R.K., featuring Italy's celebrated vocalist, producer and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), KING CRIMSON's Pat Mastelotto (drums), PORCUPINE TREE's Colin Edwin (bass), MARTA SUI TUBI's Carmelo Pipitone (guitar).
The track, titled "Black Blooms", appears on O.R.K.'s new album "Ramagehead", which will be released on February 22 via Kscope. The cover art for the album was created by TOOL guitarist Adam Jones and can be seen below.
The first single from "Ramagehead", a song called "Kneel To Nothing", emphasizes O.R.K.'s bewilderment brought about by our modern world; a world of technological information overload, of uncertainty and post-truth messages.
LEF explains: "We're not preaching. We'd rather leave the lyrics open to different interpretations, but I guess this is one possible interpretation of the 'Kneel To Nothing' lyrics.
"As musicians, we collaborate across the miles thanks to the Internet, so it goes without saying we aren't against technology in general, but at the same time, it's unarguably clear that the same technology has successfully made its way inside our bodies (and lives) in a potentially dangerous way in the last 20 years. How we react to impulses, live our relationships, and feel in general has become deeply influenced by new tech. We all seem to be trying to outdo each other. We can't get enough of this constant competition through social media, and it's making us more insular in real life. We also place an innate trust in the strength of our senses, but in a evolutionary perspective, we could end up diminishing of all our senses due to our evolving lifestyle. We're becoming too lazy to read an article — let alone a book — too bored to listen to a song that is longer than three minutes, and we relentlessly skip from one impulse to another without really feeling anything. In a way, we're therefore 'slaves.'
"It's not as spooky as the visionary movie directors from the past have pictured it, but it's happening in a subtler, yet still potentially hazardous way. We have somehow we've become both devoted and addicted to our smart phones"
"Ramagehead" was created from O.R.K.'s collective vision, unique influences and a multi-layered reflection of their powerful and engaging live experience. The resulting epic contains all the ingredients of a fiery O.R.K. performance with dark and heavy riffing, mesmeric atmospheres. Recorded during 2018 at LefMusicStudio (Italy), The Wormhole (USA) and Nightspace (UK). The mixing for "Ramagehead" was handled by Adrian Benavides and three-time Grammy-winning engineer Marc Urselli (U2, FOO FIGHTERS, Nick Cave), the mastering by Michael Fossenkemper, engineering by Benavides and Bill Munyon (KING CRIMSON), and design by Denis Rodier ("Superman", "Batman", "Wonder Woman").
"Ramagehead" track listing:
01. Kneel to Nothing
02. Signals Erased
03. Beyond Sight
04. Black Blooms (feat. Serj Tankian)
05. Time Corroded
06. Down the Road
07. Some Other Rainbow Part 1
08. Strangled Words
09. Some Other Rainbow
O.R.K. has an extensive live campaign planned in support of "Ramagehead" which will begin in February 2019 with a European headline run as well as being special guests on the continuing "Dissolution Tour" from new label mates THE PINEAPPLE THIEF.

LITA FORD Is Putting Finishing Touches On 'Dark And Riffy' Concept AlbumLita Ford has told The Metal Voice in a new interview that she is putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" album. Helming the new project once again is guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who contributes some guitar playing to the disc, alongside the rest of Ford's backing band, which continues to consist of guitarist Patrick Kennison, drummer Bobby Rock and bassist Marty O'Brien.
"It's a concept album," Lita told The Metal Voice's Neil Turbin at last night's (Wednesday, January 23) Hall Of Heavy Metal History at Marriott Delta Garden Grove in Anaheim, California (see below). "We have to keep the songs consistent so they all work together."
Although Ford declined to reveal the specifics of the concept, she confirmed that the LP will include a song called "Monsters", which was inspired by infamous cult leaders like Charles Manson and David Koresh. "It's just really dark and nasty stuff — brainwashing people and all the stuff [Koresh] did, and got all those people to drink Kool-Aid. But then again, it could be someone like your attorney, or it could be someone like your mom who is the monster in your life. It could be your manager. You never know who the monster in your life is gonna turn out to be."
Describing the music on her new disc as "dark and riffy," Lita said that she is "very excited about it." She added: "It's got a cool feel. It's all done and written and exciting. It'll be out really soon — really soon. We just have to put pen to paper to a new record deal, and then we can tell [everybody more about it]."
Last year, Ford told KBACK Radio that she "was going through a real hard time in my life" during the making of "Living Like A Runaway", "and music was my outlet. I dumped everything into my music, because I didn't wanna start drinking or doing drugs or hurting myself in any other way, so I just rocked out — I put everything into my music, and it really shows in the songs and the lyrics of that album," she said. "They are true — it's a true story, that entire album. But the next album that we're doing is something that I've had in the can for quite a while and it's resurfaced in my life and I'm carrying on with it and I'm making it come to life, and it's really awesome. I don't wanna give it away yet, but I think people are going to be happy with it. It's very riffy, very memorable choruses — stuff that sticks in your head with the riffs and the choruses, the melodies. A real cocky attitude. I love it. I'm very happy with it."
Ford's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.
Three years ago, Lita released an autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

MIKE PORTNOY: 'I'm Still The 13-Year-Old Kid Listening To KISS Records In My Bedroom'Drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, THE WINERY DOGS, SONS OF APOLLO) was interviewed by Heavy New York at the Hall Of Heavy Metal History on Wednesday, January 23 at Marriott Delta Garden Grove in Anaheim, California. The annual Metal Hall Of Fame gala was hosted by television, radio personality and heavy metal champion Eddie Trunk, and featured appearances by heavy metal greats of today and years past.
Asked if hearing somebody take inspiration from him ever inspires him as a musician, Portnoy said: "Oh, absolutely. I'm still a fan. I'm still the 13-year-old kid listening to KISS records in my bedroom. So, every time I meet a fan, even just walking in here, I get it — I relate. I know what it's like to love an artist and a band and a musician, and when I see that I inspired or influenced a younger musician, to me, it's the ultimate compliment."
Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 30 years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI).
In the last nine years, Portnoy has recorded and toured with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, TWISTED SISTER, ADRENALINE MOB, METAL ALLEGIANCE, THE WINERY DOGS and THE NEAL MORSE BAND. In 2017 and 2018, he recorded and toured with a new band called SONS OF APOLLO, which includes vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, bassist Billy Sheehan, keyboardist Derek Sherinian and guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.
Portnoy told the Dallas Observer that he doesn't categorize himself as a progressive rock guy.
"I never would want to be completely stereotyped into that category," he said. "I've always been way more than that. I've always been a metalhead through and through, from day one. Even before I was playing progressive music… If you look at everything I've done since DREAM THEATER, it's a huge, giant mix bag of everything."

Listen To BRING ME THE HORIZON's Collaboration With Synth-Pop Singer GRIMES, 'Nihilist Blues'British rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON have released the official lyric video for another new song called "Nihilist Blues". The track, which features guest vocals from synth-pop singer Grimes, is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Amo", which will be released on January 25 via Columbia Records. The band spent last summer writing and recording in Los Angeles, with singer Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish handling production.
Oli told Zane Lowe of Apple Music's Beats 1 about BRING ME THE HORIZON's collaboration with Grimes: "I'd seen her in an interview that she did a year or two before that, saying like, 'Oh, I like English bands like BRING ME THE HORIZON.' She got my number off manager after hearing it, texted me and she went, 'I am doing this song. I love it so much.' And she was so overwhelmingly positive about the song. She was, like, 'This is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard in my life. I'm definitely doing it.' And she was just so cool about it. She wasn't at all like the cool kid that she would just like... She'd got all the influences, because the song's quite out there in terms of what it sounds like compared to a BRING ME song. And I think at that time, it was really good for us, because we were in L.A. recording, and we'd been working on the album for about nine months. We'd lost all perspective. Do you know what I mean? I knew I loved the song, but at the same time, I'm all, like, 'Are people gonna get this?' It sounds cheesy, but just to get her like stamp of approval as well as her vocal was just like a massive, like, 'Yes, we're doing the right thing.' So, for her to be, like, 'Yo, this is amazing. I love it so much that I have to do this,' is just a really cool, positive experience."
Oli told Zane Lowe about the musical direction of "Amo": "We didn't really know what we wanted, but we just knew we wanted to be different. We wanted to still be BRING ME THE HORIZON, but make people feel the things they felt with us in different ways and try to do it sonically different. And it took a while to find that sound and stuff, 'cause I think, for me, I love the fact that I can sing now and I can write these lyrics that have important messages and they can almost stick in people's heads, so that they're easier to get across. So, for us, we still wanted those huge choruses, but I feel like we had so much experimentation in us that we've been dying to do for maybe the last five years or so."
BRING ME THE HORIZON has just kicked off of its Live Nation-produced North American headline tour, to be followed by shows in South America, Australia and a plethora of festivals around the world. 3

WHITESNAKE's 'Slide It In' To Be Reissued As '35th Anniversary Edition' With Bonus MaterialWHITESNAKE scored its first platinum-selling album in 1984 with "Slide It In", a release that has sold more than four million copies worldwide thanks to hard-rocking songs like "Love Ain't No Stranger", "Slow An' Easy" and the title track. The classic album turns 35 this year and Rhino is celebrating with several new versions, including an enormous seven-disc box set.
"Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition" will be available on March 22. The 6CD/DVD collection includes newly remastered versions of both the U.K. and U.S. mixes of the album, plus unreleased live and studio recordings, music videos, concert footage, and a new interview with WHITESNAKE founder and lead singer, David Coverdale. The music comes with a 60-page hardbound book that's filled with rare photos and memorabilia from the era.
Three other versions of "Slide It In" will also be available the same day. A double-CD "Deluxe Edition" includes the newly remastered U.K. and U.S. mixes expanded with a selection of bonus tracks. The double-LP "Deluxe Edition" features the newly remastered U.K. and U.S. mixes. And finally, a single-disc version includes the newly remastered U.S. mix. The music will be available digitally as well.
After releasing "Saints & Sinners" in 1982, WHITESNAKE reconvened the following year in Germany to begin recording songs for what would become the band's sixth studio album, "Slide It In". At the time, band members included Coverdale, guitarists Micky Moody and Mel Galley, bassist Colin Hodgkinson and keyboardist Jon Lord. The album was initially released in 1984 in the U.K., where it climbed into the Top 10.
Soon after, the band's lineup changed. Lord left to rejoin DEEP PURPLE and Moody and Hodgkinson were replaced by guitarist John Sykes and Neil Murray, who was WHITESNAKE's original bassist. Prior to its U.S. release in 1985, "Slide It In" was remixed while newly recorded parts by Sykes, Murray and keyboardist Bill Cuomo were added, resulting in two distinct versions of the album, both of which are included in this set.
"Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition" features unreleased versions of every album track, including 35th-anniversary remixes made this year, as well as monitor mixes recorded in 1983. The set boasts more than a dozen unreleased live recordings from 1984 that feature an entire concert from Glasgow, Scotland, plus several songs from Lord's final show with WHITESNAKE in Sweden. The collection's final disc unearths 30 tracks that cover original demos and early mixes for album tracks, as well as unfinished song ideas.
Coverdale says: "'Slide It In' was always meant to be a structured, more electric modern take on the classic blues-based hard rock that WHITESNAKE were famous for — but our new hook city hooligan, mixer extraordinaire Christopher Collier, has hand-tooled this classic record for the 21st century.
"Hearing all the performances so fresh and so clear after 35 years was amazing. Mel, Cozy and Jon's playing on the record is as vital now as it was all those years ago. All the featured players shine.
"Not only did Christopher get the best out of the recording, but he gives the album a fresh coat of sonic paint bringing it right up to date. I'm personally thrilled with it." 1

BUCKCHERRY: Official Lyric Video For New Song 'Bent'The official lyric video for "Bent", a new song from Californian rockers BUCKCHERRY, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming studio album, "Warpaint", which will be released on March 8 via Century Media/RED Music. The 12-song disc, featuring 11 new BUCKCHERRY songs along with a cover of the NINE INCH NAILS classic "Head Like A Hole", was produced by Mike Plotnikoff, whose last collaboration with the band was the platinum-certified album "15". The album art was created by Aaron Marsh and can be seen below.
Singer Josh Todd comments: "Good things come to those who wait and we have been very patient and thorough with the song writing for 'Warpaint'. We took into consideration all the factors and what this record means to, not only us, but the great BUCKCHERRY fans around the world. This record takes the listener on an unforgettable journey and I'm very proud of it."
BUCKCHERRY plans extensive worldwide touring throughout 2019, with a month-long European tour scheduled for February. The first leg of the North American tour will begin in March.
"Warpaint" track listing:
01. Warpaint
02. The Alarm
03. Bent
04. Radio Song
05. Closer
06. Back Down
07. The Vacuum
08. No Regrets
09. The Hunger
10. The Devil's In The Details
11. Right Now
12. Head Like A Hole
BUCKCHERRY recently premiered the video for "Head Like A Hole". The clip was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Jeremy Saffer.
Todd told Billboard that the NINE INCH NAILS cover "happened really organically. We were in the studio making the record, just kind of going through some old songs while they were setting up," he said. "We jammed it out the first time and it was like, boom, automatically sounded right as if we'd written it, which is what we always want to achieve when we do a cover.
"Our producer, Mike Plotnikoff, was recording the whole time and said, 'Hey, why don't you guys come in and hear this?' He put up a little rough mix of it and we were like, 'Wow, this sounds really good. We should do it.'"
Back in September, Todd told the 105.7 The Point radio station that BUCKCHERRY wrote 30 songs for the follow-up to 2015's "Rock 'N' Roll". "We've been writing songs since November of last year, and we really molded it into something really great," he said.
Asked how they whittle down so many songs to just a 10-track album, BUCKCHERRY guitarist Stevie Dacanay (a.k.a. Stevie D.) said: "You kind of know. When you [are writing] the songs, it kind of takes a life of its own, and you can really kind of feel it if it's working or not. And if it is working, then we pursue it; if not, we kind of put it to the side right away."
BUCKCHERRY's new disc marks the band's first release since the departures of guitarist Keith Nelson and drummer Xavier Muriel and addition of Kevin Roentgen and Sean Winchester, respectively.

Listen To New L.A. GUNS Single 'Stay Away'; 'The Devil You Know' Album Due In MarchLess than two years since the release of "The Missing Peace" — the first L.A. GUNS album since 2002's "Waking The Dead" to feature founding guitarist Tracii Guns and vocalist Phil Lewis — the group will issue a follow-up effort, "The Devil You Know", on March 29 via Frontiers Music Srl.
The first single from the disc, "Stay Away", can be streamed below.
Sonically, "The Devil You Know" covers a lot of ground and incorporates influences from BLACK SABBATH to LED ZEPPELIN to KYUSS to THE HELLICOPTERS, all while distinctly sounding like L.A. GUNS. The band is rejuvenated and inspired after relentless touring and is taking no prisoners.
"After the success of 'The Missing Peace', a lot of people requested that the next record stay on track with the more metal side of the band's music, which is my personal favorite side of the band," says Guns. He continues: "I drew from my typical influences of NWOBHM [New Wave Of British Heavy Metal], while still not forgetting my earlier influences of the late '60s and early '70s.
"I wanted to lead with the track 'Stay Away', because it's a familiar L.A. GUNS sound, but even a bit more metal. Something to get everyone's palate wet."
"It's loaded with attitude and most of it bad," says Lewis of the album's lyrical content. You want a love song — [fuck] off and listen to JOURNEY. They say write about what you know, and lord knows we've all known some evil bitches and dudes that have gone out of their way to make life difficult for us. We say unanimously from the whole band — [fuck] you, we're going places you could only dream about. We know what it's like to be put down, poked, ridiculed... but guess what, looks like we get the last laugh. This band has always been fueled by adrenaline and anger and this record is a glimpse inside the carnival of rage that dwells deep inside our collective souls. Not much sunshine and hold tight to your lollipop... This is gonna be a fast, loud, bumpy ride!"

When "The Missing Peace" was released in October of 2017, it added a new and unexpected chapter to the long and often confusing history of L.A. GUNS, who, along with W.A.S.P., are the longest-running, continuously active group of the 1980s Sunset Strip scene.
Since being founded by guitarist Guns and drummer Rob Gardner in 1983, more than 50 musicians have performed under the L.A. GUNS moniker, including Axl Rose (who fronted the group prior to forming HOLLYWOOD ROSE, and then again for a brief period after that band's breakup), Ralph Saenz (better known as Michael Starr of STEEL PANTHER), Jizzy Pearl (LOVE/HATE, QUIET RIOT), Chuck Garric (ALICE COOPER), Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.) and Keri Kelli (NIGHT RANGER, RATT).
In 1987 — two years after Guns left the original lineup of GUNS N' ROSES to restart L.A. GUNS with a group of musicians, including Mick Cripps — the band 's "classic lineup" was solidified with the additions of vocalist Lewis (GIRL), bassist Kelly Nickels and drummer Steve Riley (W.A.S.P.). Those five members appeared on the group's first three albums — its eponymous 1988 debut, 1989's "Cocked & Loaded" and 1991's "Hollywood Vampires".
When Riley left the band in 1992, it began a rotating door lineup that continues in full force in 2018, a year in which four guitarists have performed alongside Guns. The group's current lineup officially features Guns, Lewis, drummer Shane Fitzgibbon, bassist Johnny Martin and bassist-turned-guitarist Adam Hamilton, who played with the band from 2001 to 2007 and rejoined earlier this year after the departure of Johnny Monaco (ENUFF Z'NUFF). Because Hamilton is unable to tour extensively, however, the group recently announced that FASTER PUSSYCAT guitarist Ace Von Johnson will join them on longer tours.
For a number of years after Guns left the band in 2002 to focus on BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION — a group that also featured MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx — there were two competing versions of L.A. GUNS: one featuring Lewis and Riley, and another featuring Guns. After the latter incarnation disbanded in 2012, Guns and Lewis gradually began making amends, performing a full set of L.A. GUNS material together at a Las Vegas concert in 2015 before officially joining forces (while initially being billed as L.A. GUNS' PHIL LEWIS & TRACII GUNS) for a handful of concerts the following year. For the past two years, the group has toured and recorded simply as L.A. GUNS.
In 2019, however, there are once again competing incarnations of L.A. GUNS, as Riley — who was in the group for a total of 27 years and is said to own 50 percent of the band's name — will perform at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland in May under the L.A. GUNS moniker with a lineup that will include Nickels and guitarist Scott Griffin (who played bass for the band from 2007 until 2009, and then again from 2011 to 2014).
Since the M3 performance was announced, Guns and Riley have traded barbs on social media. "Some guys would rather headline a sports bar than play on a great bill like M3," Riley wrote on December 6. "L.A. GUNS is back to being a fantastic band and Steve Riley is still a drummer," Guns responded. He subsequently added, "What would you have done without my name [for] the last 15 years, you ungrateful punk?"

THERAPY?: 'Kakistocracy' VideoThe official music video for the song "Kakistocracy" from Northern Ireland rockers THERAPY? can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's 15th studio album, "Cleave", which was released in September via Marshall Records.
THERAPY? vocalist and guitarist Andy Cairns says: "Michael [McKeegan, bass] actually sent me this riff. It was mid-paced, with a heavy groove, a bit like HELMET.
"We've had a song idea kicking around for a while based around the line, 'It's okay not to be okay' and when we got this riff it was such a great head-nodder that it reminded us of something like 'Unbeliever' from 'Troublegum', with that same kind of chunky riff."
He adds: "Lyrically, it's about division again — the division between the haves and the have-nots. There's an awful lot of anger and frustration out there right now, and you look at this wealthy country and how it treats people, and so this song is kinda saying, 'You've got a right to be pissed off.'
"People in our country don't kick off against injustice enough."
Roughly themed around notions of duality and division, the band's follow-up to 2015's acclaimed "Disquiet" — and their first recording for Marshall — is a sharply focused, fiercely intelligent, impassioned and empowering set of songs from a band operating at a creative and artistic peak. A scathing, incisive state-of-the-nation address, investigating the schisms in contemporary society and the motivations of those seeking to propagate disjuncture, it's a powerful, challenging, uncompromising collection from a band never afraid to confront and dissect humanity's darkest impulses.
From the thrillingly propulsive assault of "Wreck It Like Beckett" via the addictive "Callow" and the unsettling "I Stand Alone" to the disquieting, bleakly beautiful "No Sunshine", the ten tracks which make up "Cleave" coalesce to paint a portrait of a fractured, dislocated world rent by unprincipled, mendacious masters.
Cairns is justifiably proud of the unified drive and restless creativity evident in this powerful, questing collection and says this about the opus: "I know that we can be a difficult sell, because we have no particular niche and no desire to conform, but THERAPY? have always been the kind of band that when people discover us, they immerse themselves deep and keep us close to their hearts. We've never been part of a trend, so we've never been cast aside when fashions changed.
"'Cleave', to me, is THERAPY? at our most focused. I love our more experimental side, but I also love that this record sounds like it was made by a band who're all reading from the same script and moving forward with the same determination and hunger."
"We're living in a time riven by conflict," Andy Cairns states baldly. "You look at what's happening in the United States at present, what's going on with Brexit in the U.K., with North and South Korea, with Palestine and Israel, and it's impossible not to see turmoil and turbulence. Some of these conflicts have been going on as long as I can remember, but they seemed to really reach a head again around the time we were writing the album. 'Cleave' is our response to the divisions we see all around us."
Cairns credits producer Chris Sheldon (FOO FIGHTERS, BIFFY CLYRO, FEEDER), who worked with the band on 1994's "Troublegum", 1998's "Semi-Detached" and 2003's "High Anxiety", for keeping the band fixated upon delivering their new material with maximum impact, streamlining arrangements and stripping away extraneous fat, setting aside ego in service of the songs.
The result is one of the most formidable, provocative and impactful albums of THERAPY?'s storied 30-year career, once again proving that the band's pre-eminence as one of the U.K.'s most inventive, fearless and individualistic musical artists.

OVERKILL Members Discuss Differences Between East Coast And West Coast Thrash Metal Sound (Video)New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL have released the latest trailer for their upcoming 19th studio album, "The Wings Of War", which will arrive on February 22 via Nuclear Blast.
In the third episode of the multi-part documentary series titled "Welcome To The Garden State", the OVERKILL members discuss the differences between the East Coast and West Coast thrash metal sound.
"The Wings Of War" was recorded at Gear Recording Studio in New Jersey, SKH Studio in Florida and Jrod Productions with engineering handled by bassist D.D. Verni and guitarist Dave Linsk. The album was produced by the band while Chris "Zeuss" Harris took care of the mixing and mastering. Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH) was again enlisted to create the artwork for the album.
"The Wings Of War" marks OVERKILL's recording debut with drummer Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM), who joined the band in 2017.
"The Wings Of War" track listing:
01. Last Man Standing
02. Believe In The Fight
03. Head Of A Pin
04. Bat Shit Crazy
05. Distortion
06. A Mother's Prayer
07. Welcome To The Garden State
08. Where Few Dare To Walk
09. Out On The Road-Kill
10. Hole In My Soul
Ellsworth said: "It was a blast making 'The Wings Of War'! It is something old feeling new again, as our chemistry was altered by the addition of Jason Bittner. I was curious from the get-go, how would it pan out? I think what we accomplished here is a new, upgraded OVERKILL that embraced the new chemistry, while taking our roots into the present. The new formula produced not only more raw power, but more places to go with melody, a win, win. The key is being not only interested in the change, but part of it. I'll tell you what, it's still fun as hell making OVERKILL records."
Last year, Ellsworth told Brian Aberback of Patch.com about the musical direction of OVERKILL's new material: "What I notice about it is that there are parts of it that delve into really classic heavy metal that are spawned off the riff. There's kind of a brutal metal riff and then there's a heavy metal riff. The brutal riff being more in the modern sense of OVERKILL but the classic riff goes back into the feel of 'Feel The Fire', 'Taking Over', 'The Years Of Decay' kind of influence.
"I think what we're doing is staying with that classic riff but adding the brutality after," he continued. "So it has the vibe of classic heavy metal with that spawned aggression off of it. Obviously, we're not going to be progressive or off the tracks with where we're going. It's OVERKILL. But the internal end of that is really exciting because we notice every little different nuance in it."
Asked what Jason has brought to the band, Ellsworth said: "He's put a lot of work into the album and his excitement has spread to all of us. He's the first person in this band who's deeply, technically trained. That's one of the most exciting things about this project. This guy is pretty close to a virtuoso when hitting the skins."
OVERKILL is:
Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth - Vocals
D.D. Verni - Bass
Dave Linsk - Lead Guitar
Derek Tailer - Rhythm Guitar
Jason Bittner - Drums 1

Terminally Ill LEE KERSLAKE Presented With OZZY OSBOURNE Platinum Albums At 'Hall Of Heavy Metal History' (Video)Former OZZY OSBOURNE drummer Lee Kerslake was inducted into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History on Wednesday, January 23 at Marriott Delta Garden Grove in Anaheim, California. The annual Metal Hall Of Fame gala was hosted by television, radio personality and heavy metal champion Eddie Trunk, and featured appearances by heavy metal greats of today and years past.
During his induction, Kerslake — who has reportedly been given less than eight months to live after battling cancer for several years — was presented with two platinum discs for his work with the BLACK SABBATH frontman. The presentation was filmed for Kerslake's upcoming documentary.
Video footage of Kerslake's acceptance speech can be seen below. Photos are available at HeavyMetalHill.com.
Lee was a member of Ozzy's band in 1980 and 1981 during the Randy Rhoads era, performing on the singer's first two solo albums.
During an interview with The Metal Voice in December, the drummer revealed that after all these years, he just wanted platinum album certifications for both "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman", so he can feel some acknowledgement for his work before he dies.
"I really wrote a nice letter to them and I hope they will come to terms with it and say yes," he told The Metal Voice of his appeal to Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
Kerslake has since been granted his wish as Ozzy shared a photo on social media earlier this month of Lee sitting on a sofa and holding the "Blizzard" and "Madman" platinum discs, a handwritten letter from Ozzy placed on his chest.
"I'm so glad that Lee Kerslake is enjoying his Blizzard and Diary platinum albums," Osbourne wrote in an accompanying caption. "I hope you feel better. Love, Ozzy"
According to the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA), 1980's "Blizzard Of Ozz" has been certified quadruple platinum for shipments in excess of four million copies, while 1981's "Diary Of A Madman" has been certified triple platinum for more three million units sold.
Kerslake and bassist Bob Daisley have been embroiled in a legal battle with the Osbournes for many years, which has taken a massive financial toll on the drummer.
"I went belly-up bankrupt when I lost the case to Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne in the courts," Lee told The Metal Voice. "It cost me hundreds of thousands and I had to sell the house and then started to get ill. I never managed to get back up, but a platinum certification on my wall for these albums would be fantastic and it would say I helped create those albums."
Kerslake and Daisley were fired before "Diary of A Madman" was released and in the process had their names removed from the album. Bassist Rudy Sarzo and drummer Tommy Aldridge are credited in the album's liner notes and featured in the photo on the inner sleeve. The tracks played by Kerslake and Daisley on both albums were replaced on a reissue (by current METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo and FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin) after the duo sued Ozzy and Sharon over royalties. Daisley and Kerslake's original performances were restored in the 2011 reissues of the albums.
Kerslake told The Metal Voice that his prostate cancer has spread to the rest of his body. "I have now have bone cancer, which is a nasty one, so the doctor gave me about eight months to live," he said. "But I've been fighting all the way. Five years ago, they gave me four years to live, and so that gives you an idea."
He added that he was remaining positive. "I'm fighting it and there's no telling what can happen," he said. "They might have a new drug come out, and I'll experiment with it if it keeps me alive… All this time I have had this terminal cancer, but I have defied it because the music kept me fighting."
Kerslake has been working on the aforementioned autobiographical documentary as well as a new album called "Eleventeen", which he hopes will come out this year.

PHILIP ANSELMO: 'I Am F**king Clean As A Whistle'Philip Anselmo says that he feels better than he did two decades ago after undergoing back surgery in January 2018 — the latest in a line of corrective procedures designed to helped him deal with the damage to his back, neck, and knees sustained over nearly 30 years of touring.
During an interview with the "Fantasm" podcast conducted last fall but only now uploaded to YouTube, Anselmo revealed that he is fully healed and healthy, enabling him to take on life in a way he hasn't been able to in a long time.
"This has been — and I'm gonna say this in all honesty — since about the age of 24, I think, this year, 2018, has been my favorite year I've ever lived, the best year I've ever lived," Philip said (hear audio below). "I've had my second back surgery. I am fucking rid of the medical pill mill fucking industry. I am fucking clean as a whistle. I haven't had a drink in almost three years. And I'm 50 and I feel better than I did at 30 and 40. I can hit 12 rounds on the fucking bag and a kayak up and down the river. And that's shit I would have never dreamed. Besides hitting the bag, kayaking — there's no way I could have been in that sitting position. I've got that shit under wraps. I'm feeling great."
According to Anselmo, his former condition definitely influenced the sound and the lyrical themes covered on some of the latest releases from his various projects, including the second PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS album, "Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue", and upcoming EN MINOR disc, which is said to be inspired by the classic goth period of the '80s with artists like THE CURE and SISTERS OF MERCY.
"Well, I was in a tremendously different place [when I wrote 'Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue']," he said. "When I listen to [the EN MINOR record] and I think about the place I have been, which is absolutely a 30-year chronic pain sentence that came with every type of addiction in the world. And, man, the opiate creates such a falseness and such a failure of… It creates wrecked motivation — lack of motivation. I mean, wrecked, though. You are distraught, and it's for no damn good reason. There are alternatives out there that fucking work and work better. I suggest people look into it."
In a 2005 interview with Revolver magazine, Anselmo said that the back problem has plagued him since the late 1990s when the lowest lumbar disc in his back was "ruptured — shattered from being onstage since I was 14 years old, jumping off the stage, off [PANTERA drummer] Vinnie's [Paul Abbott] drum set, going as crazy as possible."
"Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue" was released in January 2018 via Anselmo's Housecore Records in the U.S. and Season Of Mist in other parts of the world. The disc is the follow-up to PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' debut, "Walk Through Exits Only", which came out in 2013 to mostly positive reviews. 14

WITHIN TEMPTATION: Audio Samples Of Entire 'Resist' AlbumAudio samples of all the songs that set to appear on "Resist", the forthcoming album from Dutch metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION, can be found below. Due on February 1, the disc is the band's first release through Spinefarm Records, the specialist hard rock label of Universal Music Group.
"Resist" will feature guest appearances by PAPA ROACH's Jacoby Shaddix, IN FLAMES' Anders Fridén and ARID's Jasper Steverlinck.
"Resist" track listing:
01. The Reckoning (feat. Jacoby Shaddix)
02. Endless War
03. Raise Your Banner (feat. Anders Fridén)
04. Supernova
05. Holy Ground
06. In Vain
07. Firelight (feat. Jasper Steverlinck)
08. Mad World
09. Mercy Mirror
10. Trophy Hunter
"Resist" marks a departure from the WITHIN TEMPTATION's past. The record is armed with 10 anthemic tracks, driven by grand melodies and dark hooks. It brings a futuristic take on metal to the table — both instrumentally and thematically.
"'Resist' is a true milestone for us. If it wasn't for 'Resist', WITHIN TEMPTATION wouldn't be here anymore," the band stated.
"With this record, we've taken inspiration from modern music and gave it a face — a very dark one," singer Sharon Den Adel said. "Sometimes, it feels that today's pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like and roughen it up as much as we could, resulting in a surprisingly new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we've ever created before. 'Resist' is our take on metal in a new way: to give modern music its rebellious edge."
Regarding the nearly five-year gap between "Hydra" and "Resist", Sharon told Poland's Interia.tv: "It took me a long time because of several reasons. We had a heavy touring schedule with 'Hydra', and we toured a long time. We've been together as a band for such ages, and so when I came back, I didn't have any inspiration. There was a lot of things happening in my personal life, so all that came together and I just couldn't write music. I was very much blocked. I needed for myself to discover if I still wanted to do the touring and also writing music for WITHIN TEMPTATION, if I still wanted to be in the band, because it didn't bring me any joy at the time. I was just not in a very good place at that time. Now, I'm feeling a bit — a lot better, actually, and the strange thing is that I couldn't write because I didn't feel the music. I didn't know where to go. Not just me, but also the guys that I work with find it very difficult to write for WITHIN TEMPTATION, because we didn't have any inspiration. It was not just me, but I had a lot of other issues besides not being able to write. That's why it took a long time, and when I did start writing again, I wrote [a] different kind of music — I wrote singer-songwriter kind of songs, and that's not really WITHIN TEMPTATION material. I needed to get that out of my way, so I made a solo album, and when it did start again — when I did feel the songs coming back again to us, and the inspiration and everything — we wrote this album and recorded it in one year. Last summer until this summer, we recorded it, wrote the songs and produced everything." 10
