Video: JOE LYNN TURNER Performs RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE Classics With TRIXTER's STEVE BROWN
Fan-filmed video footage of Joe Lynn Turner's (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) February 27 performance at Revolutions Bar & Music Hall in Amityville, New York can be seen below. Playing guitar in Joe's band for the show was TRIXTER's Steve Brown.
Turner recently slammed Ritchie Blackmore for the guitarist's decision to go out and perform classic DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW material with a new group musicians instead of reforming RAINBOW with a more "authentic" lineup.
The singer said: "I feel that I wasted my time in trying to make an authentic RAINBOW reunion happen, and I was betrayed. What he's doing now, it's a cover band, you know. I don't know why he calls it RAINBOW, 'cause it's not RAINBOW, you know. And, to me, he doesn't give anything, really, to the fans. Of course, you go see Ritchie play, but so what? That's it. And I think a guitarist of his stature — he's an icon, he's brilliant, etc. – he sort of had the best way possible to return to some rock and roll. And I don't think he's making a good decision by doing this. But, you know, that's all I can say about it. Ritchie has the right to do what he wants. But I think he's making a mistake in so doing."
Blackmore, 70, quit rock and roll in 1997 to form a medieval folk band called BLACKMORE'S NIGHT with then-girlfriend and now-wife Candice Night. Since then, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT has released ten studio albums, with the latest CD, "All Our Yesterdays", arriving last September.
Over the past few years, RAINBOW was the frequent subject of reunion rumors, with Turner — who fronted RAINBOW from 1980 until 1984 and was a member of PURPLE from 1989 until 1992 — claiming that the former RAINBOW and PURPLE guitarist was "itching" to play rock music and insisting that he was in talks with the guitarist about a renewed collaboration.
Ritchie last year surprised everyone by telling a French newspaper that he was contemplating a return to rock music but excluding Turner from the project. The guitarist has since recruited LORDS OF BLACK vocalist Ronnie Romero, STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT drummer David Keith and bassist Bob Nouveau to accompany him at the upcoming shows.

Конечно, ысчо достаточно неплохо и ностальгично. И рад был бы слышать тебя на студии с Ричи, но Ричи это нерадостно( Потому что на концертах, к сожалению, дела уже не радужные. А в группе с названием Радуга это как минимум может не прокатить, и как максимум - следы деки и грифа на затылке и мягких тканях лица.
Нравился мне этот чувак на поздних турах по японии и Европе. (83-84)
