BEHEMOTH Frontman Nergal Talks Working On Side-Project - "The Most Primitive, Acoustic-Based Stuff"

Nergal, frontman for Polish metal overlords Behemoth, recently spoke with the Broward/Palm Beach New Times and addressed topics including Satanism, their latest album The Satanist, and the future of the band. An excerpt from the interview is available below:

Q: Do you see yourself making a solo statement entirely your own in the future?

Nergal: "I'm actually working on a project now, but I don't want to let much out about it yet. I'm always creating. I always do stuff on the side, and some of it's not suitable for Behemoth, and I've got some other projects that will eventually see the light of day. Or not. Nothing is for certain (laughs)."

Q: Without giving too much away, would you be willing to tell us a little of what we might expect from a Nergal solo project?

Nergal: "Very stripped down and simple. The most primitive, acoustic-based stuff. That's what I'm really into."

Behemoth are officially headlining this years installment of the legendary Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway on April 2nd.

Commented singer/guitarist Nergal: "Festival season 2015 couldn't start in a better way! We have long history with Inferno Festival and we've always been embraced by Norway but this is the first time we are headlining this festival! Bringing on full artillery and pyro! After doing countless tours in support to our latest album The Satanist, you can expect a well oiled machine! You have been warned!"

On another note, the next day, April 3rd, Nergal will host a signing session for the English release of his autobiographical book, Confessions Of A Heretic. A press conference will be held, too.

Behemoth: Devil's Conquistadors by Lukasz Dunaj serves as the definitive Behemoth biography. This book, officially blessed, or rather damned, by Behemoth, serves as an in depth look at the history of the events that materially influenced the band.

Nergal discusses the acquisition of his first electric guitar: "The first communion was a very important moment for me. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it's true. Of course, not as a religion experience - I didn't understand anything and couldn't care less. Same as all the other kids. We all stood there with our votive candles and waited for one thing. Cash. The first communion must be one moment when you get the most money you're ever going to get as a child. And for this money, I bought myself my first electric guitar. Not a bike, no Legos - a guitar."
