AEROSMITH Has 'No Plans' To Return To Studio

AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford says there are no plans for the band to return to the studio to work on the follow-up to 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!"

"We're not currently in the studio or anything; we're not quite sure when we might get back in the studio," he told The Morning Call. "[AEROSMITH singer] Steven [Tyler] is working on a solo album that he's been wanting to do for the last 20 years. I think a good deal of inspiration may come out of that. He may want to continue to write."

He added: "Maybe at some point this year we might get into the studio and record some new music. [But there are] currently no plans."

Whitford's bandmate, bassist Tom Hamilton, revealed that there are some unreleased AEROSMITH songs that have been recorded over the years that may one day officially see the light of day.

"It's funny, we have a pretty much an album's worth of that that I think has just been gradually posted over the last 20 years on the Internet," he said. "It has some … songs that we were really looking forward to using … great songs. They had a really good one called 'Meltdown', and a really great one called 'Diamond Dance Romance'. Some nice ethereal stuff.

"Over the years it just wound up getting ... People were making an extra copy for themselves at the studio. Now you can find it online. I would love to continue digging into that material."

"Music From Another Dimension!" was released on November 6, 2012, and debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release.

The group's last collection of new songs, 2001's "Just Push Play", entered the chart at No. 2 with sales of 240,000 copies.
