BLACK SABBATH’s GEEZER BUTLER – “It Is Better To Go Out On Top Than To Drag It Out To The Bitter End”

Black Sabbath will resume The End Tour on April 15th in Perth, Australia. During the band's current break from the road, bassist Geezer Butler spoke with Metal Wani about the band’s final tour.

An excerpt:

Metal Wani: With every passing show, how emotional is The End tour for you and the band?

Butler: “The final show is going to be very emotional, but it is better to go out on top than to drag it out to the bitter end. We are playing better than ever and yes it will be good to end on a positive note.”

Metal Wani: From the perspective of being the band who are heavy metal pioneers, what would you envisage as the legacy that Black Sabbath will leave behind in its music, the experience of not just the band but its fans and of having been there and done that?

Butler: “I think that we showed that you don’t have to be a favorite of the media critics to be successful. Our fans have been incredible; it’s great to see so many of them who have been with us from the beginning, and so many new fans. I would like to thank them all for giving us such an incredible life.”

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler wrapped the first dates of Black Sabbath's massive 2016 The End world tour earlier this month (March 7th) in Vancouver, BC to an overwhelming response, from fans and critics alike. The first leg of sold-out North American shows will be followed by a run of summer performances including return visits to Los Angeles (at the iconic Hollywood Bowl), New York, Chicago and 14 additional cities. See Black Sabbath's world wide itinerary below. These dates mark the end of the epic journey that Black Sabbath began nearly five decades ago. The massive 2016 The End world tour by the greatest metal band of all time will take the band to Australia and New Zealand in April, then Europe fora mix of summer headlining and festival performances, before returning to North America in August.

As previously announced, a special fans-only CD featuring original artwork by Shepard Fairey/Obey Giant is being sold at shows along the tour route. The CD is comprised of eight previously unreleased tracks: four songs are outtakes from Black Sabbath's worldwide #1, Grammy Award-winning album 13 and four live songs from the band's critically acclaimed 13 World Tour.

When this tour concludes, it will truly be The End, The End of one of most legendary bands in rock 'n roll history... Black Sabbath.

Ну не 30 лет, но в конце 90-х (после реюниона с Оззи) вполне можно было по сольным проектам разойтись. Впрочем, хорошо, что так долго протянули, многих фэнов порадовали, а хэйтеры пусть лижут собачьи яйца.

Молодцы, правильно все делают. Лучше распасться, чем как AC-DC непонятно во что превращаться. Был бы жив Ронни, они бы вероятнее всего Heaven and Hell замутили снова. А сейчас даже не знаю чем они будут заниматься.
