Dr. Phil Pulls Plug On Former MEGADETH Members Supergroup Live Premiere Performances

Phil McGraw, AKA "Dr. Phil" television personality and host of the day time program Dr. Phil show which airs weekdays on CTV Networks is responsible for foiling the plans of former Megadeth members Nick Menza (drums), Chris Poland (guitar) and James LoMenzo (bass) as-yet-unnamed new "supergroup" from the trio's first ever live premier performances on the sixth episode of the brand new Internet TV program Inside Metal hosted by Bob Nalbandian That aired on (Tuesday, December 9th).

Menza: “To everybody that called or tuned in to the Inside Metal show on Tuesday. I'd like to apologize for the unfortunate circumstances that foiled our plans to perform the live jam session we promised. You could thank Dr. Phil, yea Dr. Phil, that guy who has that TV show where he invites guests to confront their problems, YAWN!!!”

He continued: “Apparently Dr. Phil was filming in the studio next us. The Dr. Phil producer, crew and Mr. Phil got wind we we're setting up to jam and asked if we not perform.”

Menza and Lomenzo's first jam session took place back on June 25th at Menza's Disintegrator Studios in Studio City, California where they cracked through some of the old Megadeth catalog along with some of their favorite Metallica and Led Zeppelin songs.

Menza and Lomenzo's cover of the Metallica classic “Motorbreath”, featuring the vocals of Davor Garašićfrom the Croatian thrash metal band Sufosia, can be heard below:

Menza joined Megadeth for the 1990 recording Rust In Peace and for the next ten years became associated with the band's "classic" and most profitable era.

Following the reissue of the entire Megadeth catalog, Menza was invited to reunite with the band in 2004. Days after a reunion was announced, Menza was fired and replaced with Shawn Drover. Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine said that this was because Nick "just wasn't prepared."

Lomenzo joined Megadeth in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's United Abominations and 2009's Endgame. He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original Megadeth bassist David Ellefson.
